Abstract
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the impact of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) on health-related quality of life (HRQoL) assessed with SF-36 and explore factors associated with HRQoL in SLE patients. METHODS A random-effect meta-analysis was performed to calculate extracted data. Sensitivity and subgroup analyses were performed to distinguish sources of heterogeneity. RESULTS A total of 36 articles were finally included in this meta-analysis, including 6510 patients. The pooled mean scores of SF-36 physical component summary and mental component summary were 46.10 (95% confidence interval (CI): 43.09-49.10) and 50.37 (95% CI: 47.78-52.87), respectively. Spearman's correlation analysis found that mean age, proportion of female participants, and publication decades were negatively associated with some of the SF-36 domains. Sample size and SLEDAI were positively associated with some of the SF-36 domains. Patients with SLE have lower HRQoL in comparison to the general population. CONCLUSIONS SLE has a significant impact on HRQoL, which proves that the necessity of improving HRQoL in SLE patients cannot be ignored. Measuring HRQoL should be considered as an indispensable part of the overall evaluation of health conditions of SLE patients.

Abstract
Objectives: To summarize the computed tomography angiography(CTA) features of Dieulafoy disease of the bronchus. Methods: The clinical, imaging and pathological data of Dieulafoy disease of the bronchus diagnosed in our hospital from July 4, 2010 to June 20, 2016 were retrospectively analyzed, and the CTA imaging features of the abnormal bronchial arteries were summarized. Results: There were 6 cases of bronchial Dieulafoy disease, 5 males and 1 female, with an average age of (55±15) years. Three cases had smoking history, and 2 cases had underlying diseases such as tuberculosis and acute myeloid leukemia. The common manifestations were hemoptysis, fever and pneumonia. Three patients got CTA examination, and bronchial arteries of Dieulafoy disease of the bronchus were circuitous and dilated, with the vascular diameter lager than 2 mm, no gradual narrowing but sudden truncation. Some circuitous vessels went into bronchial lumen as nodules. The bronchoscopy biopsy of 2 cases of bronchial nodules led to severe hemorrhage, with one death and one survival by successful management. Conclusions: Bronchial arteries of Dieulafoy disease of the bronchus were circuitous and dilated, and some circuitous vessels went into bronchial lumen as nodules, this demonstration can be used to diagnose Dieulafoy disease of the bronchus. For patients with hemoptysis, bronchial biopsy should only be performed after CTA examination if this disease is suspected.

Abstract
A new relativistic vortex cutter driven by the Laguerre-Gaussian (LG) mode is carried out for the first time in three-dimensional particle-in-cell simulations. Studies show that the electric fields periodically concentrate and emanate within every laser wavelength for the reflected circularly polarized LG_{p}^{l} (p=0, l=1, σ_{z}=-1) laser, which works just like a vortex cutter, resulting in a relativistic ultrashort collimated electron cluster with a constant period in space. A single particle model is given and verifies that the cluster formation has a close relation with the parameters of orbital angular momentum (l) and spin angular momentum (σ_{z}). Such a relativistic vortex cutter potentially can be applied for the accelerator, generating high-flux particle and coherent radiation sources, and so on.

Abstract
Non-structural carbohydrates (NSC) play a central role in plant functioning as energy carriers and building blocks for primary and secondary metabolism. Many studies have investigated how environmental and anthropogenic changes, like increasingly frequent and severe drought episodes, elevated CO2 and atmospheric nitrogen (N) deposition, influence NSC concentrations in individual trees. However, this wealth of data has not been analyzed yet to identify general trends using a common statistical framework. A thorough understanding of tree responses to global change is required for making realistic predictions of vegetation dynamics. Here we compiled data from 57 experimental studies on 71 tree species and conducted a meta-analysis to evaluate general responses of stored soluble sugars, starch and total NSC (soluble sugars + starch) concentrations in different tree organs (foliage, above-ground wood and roots) to drought, elevated CO2 and N deposition. We found that drought significantly decreased total NSC in roots (-17.3%), but not in foliage and above-ground woody tissues (bole, branch, stem and/or twig). Elevated CO2 significantly increased total NSC in foliage (+26.2%) and roots (+12.8%), but not in above-ground wood. By contrast, total NSC significantly decreased in roots (-17.9%), increased in above-ground wood (+6.1%), but was unaffected in foliage from N fertilization. In addition, the response of NSC to three global change drivers was strongly affected by tree taxonomic type, leaf habit, tree age and treatment intensity. Our results pave the way for a better understanding of general tree function responses to drought, elevated CO2 and N fertilization. The existing data also reveal that more long-term studies on mature trees that allow testing interactions between these factors are urgently needed to provide a basis for forecasting tree responses to environmental change at the global scale.

Abstract
Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) is an inflammatory disease of the nasal airways and paranasal sinuses. The condition is defined by more than 12 weeks of nasal obstruction, nasal discharge, facial pain/pressure, and reduced/lost smell. CRS is commonly further classified into 2 subsets based on its clinical phenotype: those with polyps (CRSwNP) and those without (CRSsNP). The incidence of CRS increases year by year. Due to its persistent, intractable and easy to relapse, CRS seriously affects patient's daily work and life. In addition, CRS also increases the patient's financial burden. However, the etiology and pathogenesis of CRS is complex, which limited the clinical treatment in CRS. This review summarizes the latest advances in inflammatory pathways and biologics therapies of CRS based on the latest research results.

Abstract
Background: Studies showed that dihydroartemisinin (DHA) has significant antitumor effects. However, there have been no relevant reports on gastric cancer resistance to DHA. Aim: To investigate the influence of DHA on the malignant behavior of cisplatin (DDP)-resistant gastric cancer cells SGC7901/DDP and the possible molecular mechanism. Methods: The IC50 of DHA against SGC7901/DDP cells at 48 h was obtained with CCK-8. DHA was used against SGC7901/DDP, with IC50 concentration at 0 µmol/L, 0.5-fold, onefold, and twofold respectively. Then the proliferation activity of SGC7901/DDP from day 1 to day 5 was detected by CCK-8. At 48 h after DHA treatment, we observed apoptosis, invasion, and migration, evaluated autophagy, and detected the expression level of protein related to the regulation of autophagy, apoptosis, angiogenesis and lymphangiogenesis with Western blot. The influence of DHA on cisplatin resistance of SGC7901/DDP was detected through sensitization test and the evaluation of p-gp expression level. Results: The IC50 concentration of DHA against SGC7901/DDP cells at 48 h is 70 µmol/L. DHA significantly inhibited the proliferation of SGC7901/DDP, which was time- and concentration-dependent (all P < 0.05). After having been treated for 48 h by increasing concentrations of DHA (0, 35, 70 and 140 µmol/L), the apoptosis rate increased and the penetrating cell number and scratch healing rate significantly decreased (all P < 0.05). The expression levels of Beclin1 and LC3-II/LC3-I which were corrected with autophagy, and the formation of autophagosomes and autophagous vacuoles increased in a concentration-dependent manner (all P < 0.05). The total PI3K, Akt, and mTOR expression levels did not significantly change, but their phosphorylated products (PI3P, p-Akt [Ser473], and p-mTOR) showed concentration-dependent decreases (all P < 0.05). The expression of caspases-8/9/3 protein significantly increased while the expression of VEGF-A、VEGF-C protein decreased (all P < 0.05). DHA could reverse the resistance of SGC7901/DDP cells to cisplatin after DHA treatment at a nontoxic dose (15.23 µg/mL) with a reversal rate of 2.95. After DHA treatment at different concentrations for 48 h, the expression of p-gp was significantly reduced in a concentration-dependent manner ( P < 0.05). Conclusion: DHA significantly inhibited proliferation, promoted programmed death, and had anti-invasion and antimetastatic effects on SGC7901/DDP cells, probably by upregulating autophagy-related Beclin1 and LC3-II expression and by inhibiting the antiautophagy signaling pathway PI3K/AKT/mTOR, thus promoting autophagic death. In addition, DHA induced caspase-dependent and mitochondrial pathway apoptosis in SGC7901/DDP cells, and reduced VEGF-A and VEGF-C activity to promote antiangiogenesis and antilymphangiogenesis. Furthermore, DHA effectively reversed the cisplatin resistance of gastric cancer cell by inhibiting p-gp expression.

Abstract
AIM To assess the tumour border surrounding giant cell tumour of the bone (GCTB) using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and investigate its association with local recurrence. MATERIALS AND METHODS Sixty-nine GCTBs in proximal tibiae and distal femurs were studied. The pathological basis of the paintbrush border sign was explored. Expression of Ki-67, matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), receptor activator of nuclear factor-κ B (RANK), and RANK ligand (RANKL) in GCTBs were investigated using immunohistochemistry. Patients treated with intralesional curettage were analysed retrospectively to investigate the prognostic role of the paintbrush border sign. The differences between rates were tested using the chi-square test or Fisher's exact test, as appropriate. RESULTS The paintbrush border sign correlated well with infiltrative margins. The expression of MMP-9 was associated with the paintbrush border sign, and positively correlated with RANKL and VEGF expression. GCTBs with the paintbrush border sign had a higher rate of local recurrence (76.19 versus 20.59%, p<0.05). The paintbrush border sign was more common in proximal tibiae, and positively correlated with cystic change. The paintbrush border signs were detected at T1-weighted imaging, but the sign was only evident in four cases on T2-weighted imaging. CONCLUSION Pathologically, the paintbrush border sign correlates well with invasion of the bone around GCTB. MMP-9 might play a key role in the formation of penetrating irregular margins. The paintbrush border sign is revealed as a risk factor for local recurrence of GCTB. Sagittal T1-weighted imaging is crucial to diagnose the paintbrush border sign.

Abstract
Land use changes are often considered to be the main factors influencing soil infiltration. But the difference of soil infiltration capacity for different land use type is less clear. In this paper, we conduct a meta-analysis of all 42 papers that could be found associated with the effects of land use changes on soil infiltration capacity. The results showed that soil initial and steady infiltration rates increased after land use changes from grassland to forest (+41.35%, /), shrubland to forest (+42.73%, /) and cropland to agroforestry (+70.28%, +84.17%). Soil infiltration rates declined after land use changes from grassland to cropland (/, -45.23%), shrubland to cropland (-64.24%, /) and forest to cropland (-53.58%, -42.15%). It was evident that soil infiltration rates were negatively related to soil bulk density and initial moisture and positively related to soil total porosity and organic matter content. In sum, establishing agroforestry ecosystem was beneficial to improve soil infiltration capacity compare to cropland and plantation, which has important implications for developing sustainable agriculture and forest from the viewpoint of soil and water conservation.

Abstract
Atmospheric nitrogen (N) deposition has been found to significantly affect plant growth and physiological performance in terrestrial ecosystems. Many individual studies have investigated how N addition influences plant functional traits, however these investigations have usually been limited to a single species, and thereby do not allow derivation of general patterns or underlying mechanisms. We synthesized data from 56 papers and conducted a meta-analysis to assess the general responses of 15 variables related to leaf economics, gas exchange, and hydraulic traits to N addition among 61 woody plant species, primarily from temperate and subtropical regions. Results showed that under N addition, leaf area index (+10.3%), foliar N content (+7.3%), intrinsic water-use efficiency (+3.1%) and net photosynthetic rate (+16.1%) significantly increased, while specific leaf area, stomatal conductance, and transpiration rate did not change. For plant hydraulics, N addition significantly increased vessel diameter (+7.0%), hydraulic conductance in stems/shoots (+6.7%), and water potential corresponding to 50% loss of hydraulic conductivity (P50, +21.5%; i.e., P50 became less negative), while water potential in leaves (-6.7%) decreased (became more negative). N addition had little effect on vessel density, hydraulic conductance in leaves and roots, or water potential in stems/shoots. N addition had greater effects on gymnosperms than angiosperms and ammonium nitrate fertilization had larger effects than fertilization with urea, and high levels of N addition affected more traits than low levels. Our results demonstrate that N addition has coupled effects on both carbon and water dynamics of woody plants. Increased leaf N, likely fixed in photosynthetic enzymes and pigments leads to higher photosynthesis and water use efficiency, which may increase leaf growth, as reflected in LAI results. These changes appear to have downstream effects on hydraulic function through increases in vessel diameter, which leads to higher hydraulic conductance, but lower water potential and increased vulnerability to embolism. Overall, our results suggest that N addition will shift plant function along a tradeoff between C and hydraulic economies by enhancing C uptake while simultaneously increasing the risk of hydraulic dysfunction.

Abstract
Tetramethylpyrazine (TMP) is a biologically active ingredient, which is isolated from a popularChinese medicinal plant. It has been used effectively to treat ischemic heart problems, cerebrovascular and thrombotic vascular diseases. This study was designed to evaluate the effect of TMP on calciumsensing receptors in pulmonary artery smooth muscle in chickens. For this purpose forty day-old chicks were distributed into five groups: the control group, the hypoxia group (kept under low Oxygen treatment), and TMP groups (kept under low Oxygen treatment along with treatment of different concentrations of TMP). The pulmonary artery smooth muscle cells were also cultured on 6-well plates in high glucose culture medium and divided into the same five groups. We used in vivo and in vitro study models by applying immunohistochemistry, RT-qPCR assay and Western blotting analysis. Our results showed that pre-incubation with hypoxia markedly stimulated the activation of calcium-sensing receptor (CaSR) in pulmonary artery smooth muscle cells (PASMCs). The TMP decreased the mRNA and protein levels of CaSR. Treatment with TMP clearly inhibited the activation of all CaSR in a dose-dependent manner. Our data demonstrated that TMP can down-regulate the expression of CaSR. Therefore, these findings provide a new target to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) under hypoxic conditions.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The box-in-box (BIB) has recently been developed as a reliable low-cost device with a passively controlled cooling rate. However, the typical box-in-box design is only applicable to -80°C freezer. The transfer process to liquid nitrogen may affect the quality of the sample. OBJECTIVE To develop a smart cooling BIB that can be immersed directly into liquid nitrogen. MATERIALS AND METHODS Different thickness and materials of the box were used to alter the cooling rate. Experiments were carried out to measure the cooling rate and modeling was performed to verify experimental results. RESULTS The average cooling rate of the solid cassette with a wall thickness of 10 mm was 7°C/min. The average cooling rate of the hollow boxes was about 2.5°C/min and 1.5°C/min for polystyrene box and aerogel box, respectively. CONCLUSION The cooling rate of the internal sample can be controlled by controlling the thickness of the box as well as by changing the filling material of the hollow box for cooling by immersion into liquid nitrogen.

Abstract
Objective: To observe the value of evaluating the coronary collateral circulation of chronic total occlusion (CTO) by transluminal attenuation gradient (TAG) and Rentrop grading, and analyze the influencing factors for coronary collateral circulation. Methods: A total of 179 CTO patients admitted to Beijing Anzhen hospital during June 2013 to August 2016 were included in this study. All patients received coronary computed tomographic angiography (CCTA) examination before coronary angiography. Finally, 75 patients (79 vessels) were enrolled.Patients were divided into two groups on the basis of Rentrop classification. The Rentrop 3 was defined as a well-developed coronary collateral circulation group, including 50 CTO vessels, Rentrop 2 or below was defined as poorly-developed collateral circulation group, including 29 vessels.TAG values in patients with various Rentrop grades were analyzed.Univariate and multivariate analysis were used to determine the predictors of collateral circulation. Results: TAG increased consistently in proportion to the angiographic extent of collateral flow (TAG was (-33.6±24.4), (-16.5±15.7) and (-12.8±15.8) HU/10 mm in patients with Rentrop grade 0 or 1, 2 and 3, respectively, P=0.007). Number of good collateral circulation vessels predicted by TAG≥15.6 HU/10 mm was 45(57.0%, 45/79), and 50 (63.3%, 50/79) by Rentrop grade (P=0.383). Prevalence of diabetes was significantly lower (20.8%(10/48) vs. 48.1%(13/27), P=0.01), while history of previous myocardial infarction (MI) was significantly higher (35.4%(17/48) vs. 11.1%(3/27), P=0.02) in patients with good collateral circulation than in patients with poor collateral circulation. The TAG of the good collateral circulation group was significantly higher than in poorly collateral circulation group ((-12.8±15.8) HU/10 mm vs. (-21.2±19.6) HU/10mm, P=0.041). Multiple logistic regression analysis revealed that history of MI (OR=0.196, 95%CI 0.041-0.936, P=0.041) and diabetes(OR=6.604, 95%CI 1.726-25.274, P=0.006) were independent predictors of coronary collateral circulation. Conclusions: TAG could be used to evaluate status of coronary collateral circulation.Presence of MI history and absence of diabetes history are the two independent predictors of well-developed coronary collateral circulation in CTO patients.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To perform unilateral patellar resurfacing and contralateral patellar retention in bilateral total knee arthroplasty (TKA) randomly, and to compare the clinical effects of patellar retention with patellar resurfacing in TKA. METHODS In the study, 14 bilateral knee osteoarthritis (OA) patients were randomized in the bilateral TKA to receive unilateral patellar resurfacing and contralateral patellar retention, including 28 knees, all were females, 53 to 78 years old, with average (66.9±7.8) years, and the BMI was (26.3±1.8) kg/m2. All subjects were followed up from 3 to 12 months. The clinical effects were evaluated based on measurements of American Knee Society score (KSS), range of motion (ROM), anterior knee pain, patellar clunk, and patellar tilt angle (PTA). RESULTS All the wounds healed primarily without significant complications, such as infection, aseptic loosening, patellar fracture and so on. The preoperative KSS scores of patellar resurfacing group were 38.9±22.2, and the scores changed to be 92.4±6.7 after operation, which were added by 53.5±20.3. While in the patellar retention group, the KSS scores were 38.4 ± 20.5 preoperatively, and after operation, which were added to be 92.1±4.2, and improved by 53.7±21.4. The differences in the changed KSS scores between TKA with and without patellar resurfacing were not statistically significant (Independent t-test, P=0.98). The ROM was changed from 95.4°±13.5° preoperatively to 120.4°±8.9° postoperatively in the patellar resurfacing group and from 92.9°±19.1° preoperatively to 120.4±8.4° postoperatively in the patellar retention group. The ROM of the two group were increased by 25.0°±14.5° and 27.5°±19.4° respectively. However, no remarkable differences were observed between the 2 groups in the knee ROM (Independent t-test, P=0.70). At the end of the latest follow-up, 3 knees in the patellar resurfacing group and 2 knees in the patellar retention group had knee anterior pain, the incidences of anterior knee pain were 21.4% and 14.3% respectively. There was no obvious difference for the incidence of post-operative anterior knee pain (Chi-square test, P=0.62). The incidences of post-operative patellar clunk in the 2 groups were all with 3 knees (21.4%), which had no significant difference in the 2 groups (Chi-square test, P=1.00). The post-operative PTA were 2.6°±2.6° in the patellar resurfacing group and 3.6°±2.9° in the patellar retention group, respectively. There was also no statistical difference between the 2 groups (Chi-square test, P=0.36). CONCLUSION For knee OA patients with mild or moderate patellar cartilage damage, performing patellar resurfacing or not didn't significantly affect anterior knee pain, patellar clunk, functional outcomes or patellar tracking after TKA. So we suggest retain patella in TKA for OA patients with mild or moderate patellar cartilage damage.

Abstract
Clinical and experimental evidence indicates that macrophages could promote solid-tumor progression and metastasis. However, the mechanisms underlying this process remain unclear. Here we show that yes-associated protein 1 (YAP1), a transcriptional regulator that controls tissue growth and regeneration, has an important role in tumor necrosis factor α (TNF α)-induced breast cancer migration. Mechanistically, macrophage conditioned medium (CM) or TNFα triggers IκB kinases (IKKs)-mediated YAP phosphorylation and activation in breast cancer cells. We further found that TNFα or macrophage CM treatment increases the interaction between p65 and YAP. Chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) assay shows that YAP/TEAD (TEA domain family member) and p65 proteins synergistically regulate the transcription of hexokinase 2 (HK2), a speed-limiting enzyme in glycolysis, and promotes TNFα-induced or macrophage CM-induced cell migration. Together, our findings indicate an important role of TNFα-IKK-YAP/p65-HK2 signaling axis in the process of inflammation-driven migration in breast cancer cells, which reveals a new molecular link between inflammation and breast cancer metastasis.

Abstract
To investigate the effects and their possible mechanisms of cell division cycle 42 (Cdc42) to neonatal rat myocardial cells subjected to the ischemia-repefusion. Neonatal rat cardiomyocytes were cultured and then subjected to the ischemia-reperfusion. Experimental groups 1. Control group; 2. Ischemia-repefusion group (I/R group); 3. Oligofectamine group (Oli group); 4. Oligofectamine and antisense oligodeoxynucleotide (AS-ODN) group (As group); 5. Oligofectamine and missense oligodeoxynucleotide (MS-ODN) group (Ms group); 6. SP600125 and Oligofectamine and AS-ODN group (SP600125/As group); 7. SP600125 and Oligofectamine and MS-ODN group (SP600125/Ms group). The cardiacmyocyte apoptosis rate was detected by AnnexinV/PI with flow cytometry. Cdc42, JNK, p-JNK, Bax and Bcl-2 were detected by western blot. In comparison with control group, Cdc42, the cardiacmyocyte apoptosis rate and phosphorylation of JNK were increased and the ratio of Bcl-2/Bax was reduced in the I/R group; Cdc42, the cardiacmyocyte apoptosis rate and phosphorylation of JNK in As group was lower than the I/R group, Oli group and the Ms group, and the ratio of Bcl-2/Bax was the highest in the four groups; Cdc42, cardiacmyocyte apoptosis rate, phosphorylation of JNK and the ratio of Bcl-2/Bax showed no differences in the I/R group, Oli group and the Ms group. Compared with As group, phosphorylation of JNK was lower in the SP600125/As group, phosphorylation of JNK in SP600125/Ms group was lower than the Ms group, and it showed no differences between the SP600125 & As group and the SP600125 & Ms group. Cdc42 in myocardial I/R can promote cardiacmyocyte apoptosis rate. AS-ODN of Cdc42 can decrease the cardiacmyocyte apoptosis rate in I/R. Cdc42 may played a role in myocardial I/R via JNK , Bcl-2 and Bax signal pathway.

Abstract
Soil respiration is the largest terrestrial carbon flux into the atmosphere, and different tree species could directly influence root derived respiration and indirectly regulate soil respiration rates by altering soil chemical and microbial properties. In this study, we assessed the small scale spatial heterogeneity of soil respiration and the microbial community below the canopy of three dominant tree species (Korean pine (Pinus koraiensis), Mongolian oak (Quercus mongolica), and Manchuria ash (Fraxinus mandshurica)) in a temperate mixed forest in Northeast China. Soil respiration differed significantly during several months and increased in the order of oak<ash<pine, while soil temperature was greater in the order of pine<oak<ash, suggesting that soil respiration variations among tree species were not mainly regulated by soil temperature. In addition, the lower N and higher C concentrations of pine litter resulted in a higher C/N ratio than ash and oak, which might lead to a higher recalcitrance and slower decomposition rate, and decreased heterotrophic respiration under pine. By contrast, fine root biomass was significantly higher under pine than ash and oak, which induced higher soil autotrophic respiration under pine compared to ash and oak. Tree species sharply regulated the bacterial communities through altering the litter and soil properties, while the fungal communities were relatively consistent among tree species. This study revealed the connection between species specific traits and soil respiration, which is crucial for understanding plant-soil feedbacks and improving forecasts of the global carbon cycle.
