Abstract
INTRODUCTION Efficacy of four commercial biocidal products (noted A to D), using manufacturers' recommendations, and a contact time of 30minutes, were evaluated in the purpose of standard SR EN1657: 2006 adapted. METHODS Were used four strains, two as reference: Aspergillus brasiliensis (niger) (ATCC 16404) and Candida albicans (ATCC 10231), and two isolates: Aspergillus flavus and respectively Aspergillus fumigatus. The inoculum plates containing Malt Extract Agar (MEA) were incubated 48h for C. albicans and 72hours for Aspergillus spp. The standard SR EN1657: 2006 adapted was conducted in two phases: the test cultures preparation and the method validation. Method validation included: the control of experimental conditions and of neutralizant solution, and the method verification. RESULTS Results revealed that three from the four tested products (A, B and D) had exerted biocidal effect on the studied strains at the recommended concentrations, the registered CFU values being reduced by more than 4 log10, conversely in the case of the product (C), applied against A. fumigatus at the recommended concentration of 2%, the biocidal effect was not detected, fact confirmed also by the CFU's value (3.59 log10). The biocide retested at a greater concentration (of 5%), showed a biocidal effect against A. fumigatus after 30minutes, the CFU value being reduced, by more than 5.29 log10, evidencing the resistance emergence of A. fumigatus under the repeated pressure of biocides. CONCLUSION It is re-confirming that merely the "chemical" defense measures to defuse the fungi's strategies become unproductive.

Abstract
Cellular senescence is defined as a state of stable cell-cycle arrest that is distinct from quiescence and terminal differentiation. Many stimuli can induce senescence, including telomere shortening and oncogene activation. The phenotypes elicited by pro-senescent signals can be heterogeneous depending on the stimulus and the cell type affected. To date, there is not a definitive marker that can ubiquitously and specifically mark all senescent cells. Therefore, several independent markers must be utilized to ascertain the senescent state of a cell or group of cells. Here, we describe common assays used to assess oncogenic Ras-induced senescence.

Abstract
URI (unconventional prefoldin RPB5 interactor protein) is an unconventional prefoldin, RNA polymerase II interactor that functions as a transcriptional repressor and is part of a larger nuclear protein complex. The components of this complex and the mechanism of transcriptional repression have not been characterized. Here we show that KAP1 (KRAB-associated protein 1) and the protein phosphatase PP2A interact with URI. Mechanistically, we show that KAP1 phosphorylation is decreased following recruitment of PP2A by URI. We functionally characterize the novel URI-KAP1-PP2A complex, demonstrating a role of URI in retrotransposon repression, a key function previously demonstrated for the KAP1-SETDB1 complex. Microarray analysis of annotated transposons revealed a selective increase in the transcription of LINE-1 and L1PA2 retroelements upon knockdown of URI. These data unveil a new nuclear function of URI and identify a novel post-transcriptional regulation of KAP1 protein that may have important implications in reactivation of transposable elements in prostate cancer cells.

Syndecan-1 increases B-lymphoid cell extravasation in response to HIV-1 Tat via α vβ 3/pp60src/pp125FAK pathway. Oncogene 2016; 36:2609-2618. Abstract
Syndecan-1 is a heparan sulfate proteoglycan (HSPG) commonly upregulated in AIDS-related B lymphoid malignancies. Tat is the main HIV-1 transactivating factor that has a major role in the pathogenesis of AIDS-related lymphomas (ARL) by engaging heparan sulfate proteoglycans (HSPGs), chemokine receptors and integrins at the lymphoid cell (LC) surface. Here B-lymphoid Namalwa cell clones that do not express or overexpress syndecan-1 (EV-Ncs and SYN-Ncs, respectively) were compared for their responsiveness with Tat: in the absence of syndecan-1, Tat induces a limited EV-Nc migration via C-X-C motif chemokine receptor 4 (CXCR4), G-proteins and Rac. Syndecan-1 overexpression increases SYN-Nc responsiveness to Tat and makes this response independent from CXCR4 and G-protein and dependent instead on pp60src phosphorylation. Tat-induced SYN-Nc migration and pp60src phosphorylation require the engagement of αvβ3 integrin and consequent pp125FAK phosphorylation. This complex set of Tat-driven activations is orchestrated by the direct interaction of syndecan-1 with pp60src and its simultaneous coupling with αvβ3. The Tat/syndecan-1/αvβ3 interplay is retained in vivo and is shared also by other syndecan-1+ B-LCs, including BJAB cells, whose responsiveness to Tat is inhibited by syndecan-1 knockdown. In conclusion, overexpression of syndecan-1 confers to B-LCs an increased capacity to migrate in response to Tat, owing to a switch from a CXCR4/G-protein/Rac to a syndecan-1/αvβ3/pp60src/pp125FAK signal transduction pathway that depends on the formation of a complex in which syndecan-1 interacts with Tat via its HS-chains, with αvβ3 via its core protein ectodomain and with pp60src via its intracellular tail. These findings have implications in ARL progression and may help in identifying new therapeutical targets for the treatment of AIDS-associated neoplasia.

Abstract
Abstract
Perturbations in cell cycle regulators elicit hyperproliferation and the inability of cells to exit the cell cycle, which are common occurrences in cancer. Recently, we have demonstrated that Sin3B, an essential component of the mammalian histone deacetylase repressor complex, is required for oncogene-induced senescence both in vitro and in vivo. Surprisingly, primary Sin3B-null cells are not readily transformed upon ectopic expression of oncogenic Ras. Thus, these observations indicate that loss of Sin3B uncouples the ability to undergo senescence from the sensitivity to transformation in primary cells. To better understand the relationship between Sin3B, senescence and transformation, we have generated novel immortalized cell lines genetically inactivated for Sin3B. Our results indicate that in these Sin3B-deleted cells, expression of oncogenic Ras promotes transformation and provides a proliferative advantage. Interestingly, we have demonstrated that the paired amphipathic helix 2 (PAH2) domain is crucial for the tumor suppressive nature of Sin3B. To elucidate the molecular bases for these effects, immunoprecipitation and mass-spectrometry was performed to identify the proteins associated with Sin3B and its loss-of-function mutants. We have now identified novel interactors of the Sin3B complex and defined crucial domains responsible for the complex's assembly. These observations suggest that Sin3B functions as a non-classical tumor suppressor which serves to limit the transformative potential of cancer cells. The restoration of Sin3B functionality and downstream pathways may prove useful in the design of targeted therapies to treat advanced disease.

Abstract
Accommodation of the eyes, the mechanism that allows humans to focus their vision on near objects, naturally diminishes with age via presbyopia. People who have undergone cataract surgery, using current surgical methods and artificial lens implants, are also left without the ability to accommodate. The process of accommodation is generally well known; however the specific mechanical details have not been adequately explained due to difficulties and consequences of performing in vivo studies. Most studies have modeled the mechanics of accommodation under assumptions of a linearly elastic, isotropic, homogenous lens and lens capsule. Recent experimental and numerical studies showed that the lens capsule exhibits nonlinear elasticity and regional anisotropy. In this paper we present a numerical model of human accommodation using a membrane theory based finite element approach, incorporating recent findings on capsular properties. This study seeks to provide a novel perspective of the mechanics of accommodation. Such findings may prove significant in seeking biomedical solutions to restoring loss of visual power.

Abstract
The role of senescence as a tumor suppressor is well established; however, recent evidence has revealed novel paracrine functions for senescent cells in relation to their microenvironment, most notably protumorigenic roles in certain contexts. Senescent cells are capable of altering the inflammatory microenvironment through the senescence-associated secretory phenotype, which could have important consequences for tumorigenesis. The role of senescent cells in a highly inflammatory cancer like pancreatic cancer is still largely undefined, apart from the fact that senescence abrogation increases tumorigenesis in vivo. This review will summarize our current knowledge of the phenomenon of cellular senescence in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, its overlapping link with inflammation, and some urgent unanswered questions in the field.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Self-expanding metal stents (SEMS) are commonly used in the palliation of dysphagia in patients with inoperable esophageal carcinoma. However, they predispose to gastroesophageal reflux when deployed across the gastroesophageal junction. The aims of this study were to: 1) assess the influence of the antireflux valve on trans-prosthetic reflux (primary outcome); and 2) compare the results of SEMS with and without antireflux valve in terms of reflux symptoms, quality of life (QOL), improvement of dysphagia and adverse events (secondary outcomes). PATIENTS AND METHODS Thirty-eight patients were enrolled in nine centers. Carcinomas were locally advanced (47 %) or metastatic. After randomization, patients received either a covered SEMS with antireflux valve (n = 20) or a similar type of SEMS with no antireflux device but assigned to standard proton pump inhibitor therapy and postural advice (n = 18). Trans-prosthetic reflux was assessed at day 2 using a radiological score based on barium esophagography performed after Trendelenburg maneuver and graded from 0 (no reflux) to 12 (maximum). Monthly telephone interviews were conducted for Organisation Mondiale de la Santé (OMS) scoring from 0 (excellent) to 5 (poor), QOL assessment (based on the Reflux-Qual Simplifié scoring system) from 0 (poor) to 100 (excellent), dysphagia scoring from 0 (no dysphagia) to 5 (complete dysphagia) and regurgitation scoring from 0 (no regurgitation) to 16 (maximum). RESULTS No difference was noted in terms of age, sex, size of lesion, prosthesis length or need for dilation prior to SEMS placement. No difficulty in placing SEMS nor complications were noted. Radiological scores of reflux were found to be significantly lower in patients with an antireflux stent compared to the conventional stent and associated measures. The regurgitation scores were significantly decreased in patients with antireflux stents during the first 2 months after stent placement and thereafter, they were similar in the two groups. QOL and dysphagia were improved in both groups. Survival rates were comparable in the two groups. CONCLUSIONS No difference was observed between the two types of SEMS regarding the palliation of dysphagia and improvement of QOL. However, SEMS with an antireflux valve were more effective in preventing trans-prosthetic gastroesophageal reflux but at the cost of an increased likehood of minor adverse events (migrations and/or obstruction of the SEMS).

Abstract
Jet production rates are measured in p+p and d+Au collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=200 GeV recorded in 2008 with the PHENIX detector at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. Jets are reconstructed using the R=0.3 anti-k_{t} algorithm from energy deposits in the electromagnetic calorimeter and charged tracks in multiwire proportional chambers, and the jet transverse momentum (p_{T}) spectra are corrected for the detector response. Spectra are reported for jets with 12<p_{T}<50 GeV/c, within a pseudorapidity acceptance of |η|<0.3. The nuclear-modification factor (R_{dAu}) values for 0%-100% d+Au events are found to be consistent with unity, constraining the role of initial state effects on jet production. However, the centrality-selected R_{dAu} values and central-to-peripheral ratios (R_{CP}) show large, p_{T}-dependent deviations from unity, challenging the conventional models that relate hard-process rates and soft-particle production in collisions involving nuclei.

Abstract
Revolutionizing treatment strategies is an urgent clinical need in the fight against cancer. Recently the scientific community has recognized chromatin-associated proteins as promising therapeutic candidates. However, there is a need to develop more targeted epigenetic inhibitors with less toxicity. Sin3 family is one such target which consists of evolutionary conserved proteins with two paralogues Sin3A and Sin3B. Sin3A/B are global transcription regulators that provide a versatile platform for diverse chromatin-modifying activities. Sin3 proteins regulate key cellular functions that include cell cycle, proliferation, and differentiation, and have recently been implicated in cancer pathogenesis. In this chapter, we summarize the key concepts of Sin3 biology and elaborate the recent advancements in the role of Sin3 proteins in cancer with specific examples in multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2, pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, and triple negative breast cancer. Finally, a program to create an integrative approach for screening antitumor agents that target chromatin-associated factors like Sin3 is presented.

Abstract
We present the first measurement of elliptic (v(2)) and triangular (v(3)) flow in high-multiplicity (3)He+Au collisions at √(s(NN))=200 GeV. Two-particle correlations, where the particles have a large separation in pseudorapidity, are compared in (3)He+Au and in p+p collisions and indicate that collective effects dominate the second and third Fourier components for the correlations observed in the (3)He+Au system. The collective behavior is quantified in terms of elliptic v(2) and triangular v(3) anisotropy coefficients measured with respect to their corresponding event planes. The v(2) values are comparable to those previously measured in d+Au collisions at the same nucleon-nucleon center-of-mass energy. Comparisons with various theoretical predictions are made, including to models where the hot spots created by the impact of the three (3)He nucleons on the Au nucleus expand hydrodynamically to generate the triangular flow. The agreement of these models with data may indicate the formation of low-viscosity quark-gluon plasma even in these small collision systems.

Abstract
Energy allocation strategies have been widely documented in insects and were formalized in the context of the reproduction process by the terms 'capital breeder' and 'income breeder'. We propose here the extension of this framework to dispersal ability, with the concepts of 'capital disperser' and 'income disperser', and explore the trade-off in resource allocation between dispersal and reproduction. We hypothesized that flight capacity was sex-dependent, due to a trade-off in energy allocation between dispersal and egg production in females. We used Monochamus galloprovincialis as model organism, a long-lived beetle which is the European vector of the pine wood nematode. We estimated the flight capacity with a flight mill and used the number of mature eggs as a proxy for the investment in reproduction. We used the ratio between dry weights of the thorax and the abdomen to investigate the trade-off. The probability of flying increased with the adult weight at emergence, but was not dependent on insect age or sex. Flight distance increased with age in individuals but did not differ between sexes. It was also positively associated with energy allocation to thorax reserves, which increased with age. In females, the abdomen weight and the number of eggs also increase with age with no negative effect on flight capacity, indicating a lack of trade-off. This long-lived beetle has a complex strategy of energy allocation, being a 'capital disperser' in terms of flight ability, an 'income disperser' in terms of flight performance and an 'income breeder' in terms of egg production.

Measurement of Long-Range Angular Correlation and Quadrupole Anisotropy of Pions and (Anti)Protons in Central d+Au Collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=200 GeV. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2015; 114:192301. Abstract
We present azimuthal angular correlations between charged hadrons and energy deposited in calorimeter towers in central d+Au and minimum bias p+p collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=200 GeV. The charged hadron is measured at midrapidity |η|<0.35, and the energy is measured at large rapidity (-3.7<η<-3.1, Au-going direction). An enhanced near-side angular correlation across |Δη|>2.75 is observed in d+Au collisions. Using the event plane method applied to the Au-going energy distribution, we extract the anisotropy strength v_{2} for inclusive charged hadrons at midrapidity up to p_{T}=4.5 GeV/c. We also present the measurement of v_{2} for identified π^{±} and (anti)protons in central d+Au collisions, and observe a mass-ordering pattern similar to that seen in heavy-ion collisions. These results are compared with viscous hydrodynamic calculations and measurements from p+Pb at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02 TeV. The magnitude of the mass ordering in d+Au is found to be smaller than that in p+Pb collisions, which may indicate smaller radial flow in lower energy d+Au collisions.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Active treatment withholding and withdrawing decisions in the emergency room (ER) must be taken collegially according to ethical and juridical statements. Specific tools can support this process and our main goal was to create and validate such a tool. METHOD We created a first version of a tool to help for treatment withholding and withdrawing decisions inspired by similar documents from literature. Every item of this tool was then assessed by a group of experts (ER physicians and nurses) using the Delphi method to reach a consensus. RESULTS Thirty-four experts from eleven ER (academic, regional centre) were included and participate to the first round and twenty-seven to the second round. From the eighty-two-item tool, sixty-five items reach a consensus during these two rounds and were kept to constitute the final version of the tool. CONCLUSION We have been able to create a tool to help for treatment withholding and withdrawing decisions adapted to the guidelines for end of life patient's management in the ER. This tool has been validated using a Delphi method by a group of experts from different centres. This multicentre validation will help for the diffusion and use of this tool in the different ER of the Rhône-Alpes region.

Abstract
Cellular senescence is classically considered a tumor suppressive mechanism. In addition to having stably exited the cell cycle, senescent cells secrete inflammatory factors. We recently demonstrated that senescence correlates with accelerated cancer progression in a mouse model of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma. Here, we discuss the implications of this study.
