Abstract
T2K reports its first measurements of the parameters governing the disappearance of ν[over ¯]_{μ} in an off-axis beam due to flavor change induced by neutrino oscillations. The quasimonochromatic ν[over ¯]_{μ} beam, produced with a peak energy of 0.6 GeV at J-PARC, is observed at the far detector Super-Kamiokande, 295 km away, where the ν[over ¯]_{μ} survival probability is expected to be minimal. Using a data set corresponding to 4.01×10^{20} protons on target, 34 fully contained μ-like events were observed. The best-fit oscillation parameters are sin^{2}(θ[over ¯]_{23})=0.45 and |Δm[over ¯]_{32}^{2}|=2.51×10^{-3} eV^{2} with 68% confidence intervals of 0.38-0.64 and 2.26-2.80×10^{-3} eV^{2}, respectively. These results are in agreement with existing antineutrino parameter measurements and also with the ν_{μ} disappearance parameters measured by T2K.

Abstract
We report results from the first search for ν_{μ}→ν_{e} transitions by the NOvA experiment. In an exposure equivalent to 2.74×10^{20} protons on target in the upgraded NuMI beam at Fermilab, we observe 6 events in the Far Detector, compared to a background expectation of 0.99±0.11(syst) events based on the Near Detector measurement. A secondary analysis observes 11 events with a background of 1.07±0.14(syst). The 3.3σ excess of events observed in the primary analysis disfavors 0.1π<δ_{CP}<0.5π in the inverted mass hierarchy at the 90% C.L.

Abstract
Reliable risk assessment for biotherapeutics requires accurate evaluation of risk factors associated with immunogenicity. Immunogenicity risk assessment tools were developed and applied to investigate the immunogenicity of a fully human therapeutic monoclonal antibody, ATR-107 [anti-interleukin (IL)-21 receptor] that elicited anti-drug antibodies (ADA) in 76% of healthy subjects in a Phase 1 study. Because the ATR-107 target is expressed on dendritic cells (DCs), the immunogenicity risk related to engagement with DC and antigen presentation pathways was studied. Despite the presence of IL-21R on DCs, ATR-107 did not bind to the DCs more extensively than the control therapeutic antibody (PF-1) that had elicited low clinical ADA incidence. However, ATR-107, but not the control therapeutic antibody, was translocated to the DC late endosomes, co-localized with intracellular antigen-D related (HLA-DR) molecules and presented a dominant T cell epitope overlapping the complementarity determining region 2 (CDR2) of the light chain. ATR-107 induced increased DC activation exemplified by up-regulation of DC surface expression of CD86, CD274 (PD-L1) and CD40, increased expansion of activated DC populations expressing CD86(hi), CD40(hi), CD83(hi), programmed death ligand 1 (PD-L1)(hi), HLA-DR(hi) or CCR7(hi), as well as elevated secretion of tumour necrosis factor (TNF)-α by DCs. DCs exposed to ATR-107 stimulated an autologous T cell proliferative response in human donor cells, in concert with the detection of immunoglobulin (Ig)G-type anti-ATR-107 antibody response in clinical samples. Collectively, the enhanced engagement of antigen presentation machinery by ATR-107 was suggested. The approaches and findings described in this study may be relevant to identifying lower immunogenicity risk targets and therapeutic molecules.

Abstract
Listeria monocytogenes 15G01, a strain belonging to the persistent pulsotype 5132, was isolated from a seafood processing plant in New Zealand. Simple monoculture assays using crystal violet staining showed good biofilm formation for this strain and it was therefore chosen to be further investigated in regard to its biofilm forming ability. To evaluate its behaviour in different conditions commonly encountered in food processing environments, biofilm assays and growth studies were performed using common laboratory media under a range of temperatures (20 °C, 30 °C and 37 °C). Furthermore, the effects of incubation time and different environmental conditions including static, dynamic and anaerobic incubation on biofilm formation were investigated. Changes in the environmental conditions resulted in different biofilm phenotypes of L. monocytogenes 15G01. We demonstrated that increasing temperature and incubation time led to a higher biofilm mass and that dynamic incubation has little effect on biofilm formation at 37 °C but encourages biofilm formation at 30 °C. Biofilm production at 20 °C was minimal regardless of the medium used. We furthermore observed that anaerobic environment led to reduced biofilm mass at 30 °C for all tested media but not at 37 °C. Biofilm formation could not be narrowed down to one factor but was rather dependent on multiple factors with temperature and medium having the biggest effects.

Abstract
A tyrosinase-based amperometric biosensor is proposed for determination of bisphenol A (BPA) in a flow-batch monosegmented sequential injection system. The enzyme was entrapped in a sol-gel TiO2 matrix modified with multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs), polycationic polymer poly(diallyldimethylammonium chloride), (PDDA) and Nafion. Morphology of TYR/TiO2/MWCNTs/PDDA/Nafion matrix composite was studied via scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Electrochemical behavior of the developed biosensor towards bisphenol A was examined and analytical characteristics were assessed with respect to linear range, biosensor sensitivity, limit of detection, long term stability, repeatability and reproducibility. Linear range of biosensor response was found between 0.28 and 45.05 µM with high sensitivity of 3263 µA mM(-1) cm(-2) and detection limit 0.066 µM. The approach was successfully employed for determination of BPA in natural samples.

Abstract
AbstractIntroduction: The association of vaspin and visfatin, with a myocardial infarction is still not fully understood. Reduced levels of adenine nucleotides are hallmarks of chronic heart failure. There is little data concerning the relationship between these markers and their changes over time. Material/Methods: The concentration of adenine nucleotides, vaspin and visfatinwere assessed in 41 consecutive patients with acute myocardial infarction one before (day I) and four days after (day IV) percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) and a control group. Results: Visfatin concentrations were higher before and after PCI vs. control (visfatin I: median 25.55, 20.12 - 30.69 ng/ml; visfatin IV: median 20.79, 16.89 - 25.61 ng/ml vs. control: median 14.94, 10.66 - 25.25 ng/ml; p < 0.0001). Vaspin concentrations were lower before and after PCI vs. control (vaspin I: median 0.18, 0.11 - 0.44 ng/ml; vaspin IV: median 0.24, 0.15 - 0.58 ng/ml vs. control: median 1.303, 1.13 - 2.26 ng/ml, p < 0.00001). Abstract
OBJECTIVE A lower risk of celiac disease (CD) in patients with Helicobacter pylori (Hp) infection has been reported when Hp infection prevalence in CD patients was compared against CD-negative symptomatic persons with indications for diagnostic gastroduodenoscopy. Therefore, we aimed to determine Hp infection frequency in a group of pediatric CD patients at diagnosis and to compare obtained results to data coming from age-matched healthy population. PATIENTS AND METHODS The study population consisted of 74 CD subjects aged 3 to 12 years in whom the presence of Hp was diagnosed routinely in the course of differential diagnosis with the use of stable isotope breath test which is the gold standard. The control group consisted of 296 healthy age-matched subjects. RESULTS Hp infection was diagnosed in 4 CD patients and 20 healthy subjects. Its prevalence in CD patients and HS did not differ neither in the entire age group undergoing comparison (5.4% vs. 6.8%, p = 0.5713) nor in the selected age subgroups (3-6 years: 2.5% vs. 3.7%, p = 0.8551; 7-12 years: 8.8% vs. 11.0%, p = 0.8742). CONCLUSIONS The prevalence of Hp infection in CD patients does not seem to be different than that in general population. However, further studies are needed to assess the potential role of Hp in the pathogenesis of CD.

Abstract
Four hundred and ninety-five patients (390 and 105 grafted from unrelated and sibling (SIB) donors, respectively) and their donors were analyzed for the impact of interleukin-10 (IL-10) promoter genotype [rs18000896 (-1082 G/A), rs18000871 (-819 C/T) and rs18000872 (-592 C/A)] on the outcome of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). Patients having ACC haplotype were at a lower risk of acute graft versus host disease (aGvHD, grade > I) if transplanted from human leukocyte antigen (HLA) well-matched (10/10) unrelated donors (20/135 vs 39/117, P < 0.001, Pcorr = 0.002), which was not seen if patients were transplanted from either sibling (SIB) or poorly matched (<10/10) unrelated donors (MUD). In addition, GCC haplotype positive recipients of unrelated donor transplants tended to be more susceptible to aGvHD (68/199 vs 39/169, P = 0.019, Pcorr = 0.057). Multivariate logistic regression analysis in the MUD transplanted group showed that donor-recipient human leukocyte antigen (HLA) mismatch [odds ratio (OR) = 3.937, P = 0.001] and a lack of ACC haplotype in recipients (OR = 0.417, P = 0.013) played a significant role as independent risk factors of aGvHD grade > I. ACC carriers had higher proportions of FoxP3+ lymphocytes gated in CD4+ lymphocytes as compared with patients with other IL-10 haplotypes. It was seen at the time of hematological recovery (mean ± SEM: 3.80 ± 0.91% vs 2.06 ± 0.98%, P = 0.012) and 2 weeks later (5.32 ± 0.87% vs 2.50 ± 0.83%, P = 0.013); -592 C/A polymorphism was separately analyzed and it was found that AA homozygotes tended to have a higher incidence of aGvHD (8/15 vs 116/456, P = 0.034) and low proportions of FoxP3 CD4+ lymphocytes in blood (0.43 ± 0.22% vs 4.32 ± 0.71%, P = 0.051) measured 2 weeks after hematological recovery. Functional IL-10 polymorphism associated features influenced the risk of aGvHD with a positive effect of ACC on the pool of Treg in blood.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Ependymoblastoma is a malignant embryonal tumor that develops in early childhood and has a dismal prognosis. Categorized by the World Health Organization as a subgroup of CNS-primitive neuroectodermal tumor, ependymoblastoma is histologically defined by "ependymoblastic rosettes." Because it is so rare, little is known about specific MR imaging characteristics of ependymoblastoma. We systematically analyzed and discussed MR imaging features of ependymoblastoma in a series of 22 consecutive patients. MATERIALS AND METHODS Ependymoblastoma cases were obtained from the database of the German multicenter HIT trials between 2002 and 2013. All cases within this study were centrally reviewed for histopathology, MR imaging findings, and multimodal therapy. For systematic analysis of initial MR imaging scans at diagnosis, we applied standardized criteria for reference image evaluation of pediatric brain tumors. RESULTS Ependymoblastomas are large tumors with well-defined tumor margins, iso- to hyperintense signal on T2WI, and diffusion restriction. Contrast enhancement is variable, with a tendency to mild or moderate enhancement. Subarachnoid spread is common in ependymoblastoma but can be absent initially. There was a male preponderance (1.75:1 ratio) for ependymoblastoma in our cohort. Mean age at diagnosis was 2.1 years. CONCLUSIONS With this study, we add the largest case collection to the limited published database of MR imaging findings in ependymoblastoma, together with epidemiologic data. However, future studies are needed to systematically compare MR imaging findings of ependymoblastoma with other CNS-primitive neuroectodermal tumors and ependymoma, to delineate imaging criteria that might help distinguish these pediatric brain tumor entities.

Abstract
Chronic hepatitis B (CHB) is one of the most common infections worldwide. Currently approved treatments of CHB include nucleoside/nucleotide analogues (NAs). However, long-term NA therapy is associated with accumulation of resistant mutations within the hepatitis B virus (HBV) polymerase gene. The incidence of naturally occurring HBV mutations leading to primary antiviral resistance has not been fully elucidated yet. The objective of present study was to detect the frequency of mutations within the HBV polymerase gene in 263 patients naïve to nucleoside/nucleotide analogues. Prevalence of HBV Pol gene mutations secondary to NA treatment in patients without pre-existing antiviral resistance mutations was also examined. Retrospective analysis showed that HBV Pol gene mutations were present in 7 out of 263 patients prior to the treatment. Mutations observed in NA-naïve CHB patients were associated only with resistance to lamivudine and adefovir. Compensatory mutations were observed as well. In the course of antiviral treatment, HBV Pol gene mutations were identified in 65 out of the remaining 256 CHB patients (25.39%), while no mutations of any type were detected in 160 patients (62.5%). The profiles of detected mutations were comparable to those observed in other studies that focused on the analysis of clinically relevant NA-resistant mutations. In conclusion, we found out that antiviral resistance mutations may pre-exist in the overall viral population present in untreated patients, although the incidence of HBV Pol gene mutations in NA-naïve CHB patients was low and reached only up to 2.66%. However, possible circulation and transmission of NAs-resistant HBV mutants in human population should be taken into account.

Abstract
Suspensions of magnetic nanoparticles have received increasing interest in the biomedical field. While these ferrofluids are already used for magnetic resonance imaging, emerging research on cancer treatment focuses, for example, on employing the particles as drug carriers, or using them in magnetic hyperthermia to destroy diseased cells by heating of the particles. To enable safe and effective applications, an understanding of the flow behaviour of the ferrofluids is essential. Regarding the applications mentioned above, in which flow phenomena play an important role, viscosity under the influence of an external magnetic field is of special interest. In this respect, the magnetoviscous effect (MVE) leading to an increasing viscosity if an external magnetic field of a certain strength is applied, is well-known for singlecore ferrofluids used in the engineering context. In the biomedical context, multicore ferrofluids are preferred in order to avoid remanence magnetization and to enable a deposition of the particles by the organism without complications. This study focuses on a comparison of the MVE for three ferrofluids whose composition is identical except in relation to their hydrodynamic diameter and core composition-one of the fluids contains singlecore particles, while the other two feature multicore particles. This enables confident conclusions about the influence of those parameters on flow behaviour under the influence of a magnetic field. The strong effects found for two of the fluids should be taken into account, both in future investigations and in the potential use of such ferrofluids, as well as in manufacturing, in relation to the optimization of flow behaviour.
