Abstract
Growth differentiation factor 9 (GDF9) was the first oocyte-specific growth factor identified; however, most information about GDF9 functions comes from studies in the mouse model. In this study, we created a mutant for Gdf9 gene (gdf9-/-) in zebrafish using TALEN approach. The loss of Gdf9 caused a complete arrest of follicle development at primary growth (PG) stage. These follicles eventually degenerated, and all mutant females gradually changed to males through sex reversal, which could be prevented by mutation of the male-promoting gene dmrt1. Interestingly, the phenotypes of gdf9-/- could be rescued by simultaneous mutation of inhibin α (inha-/-) but not estradiol treatment, suggesting a potential role for the activin-inhibin system or its signaling pathway in Gdf9 actions. In gdf9-null follicles, the expression of activin βAa (inhbaa), but not βAb (inhbab) and βB (inhbb), decreased dramatically; however, its expression rebounded in the double mutant (gdf9-/-;inha-/-). These results indicate clearly that the activation of PG follicles to enter the secondary growth (SG) requires intrinsic factors from the oocyte, such as Gdf9, which in turn works on the neighboring follicle cells to trigger follicle activation, probably involving activins. In addition, our data also support the view that estrogens are not involved in follicle activation as recently reported.

Abstract
Arsenic (As) is among the most dangerous metalloids and is harmful to human wellbeing. In this laboratory study, Al(III)-modified kapok fibres (Al-Kapok) were used to remove As(V) from water. The sorbent was characterised using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) combined with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX). Batch experiments were performed to observe the performance of Al-Kapok in the removal of As(V) and to examine the effects of pH, temperature, adsorbent dose, and coexisting ions on the adsorption process. The surface of the sorbent changed after aluminium modification, and the results of the batch experiments showed that the adsorption of As(V) occurred mainly via endothermic-spontaneous chemisorption at the solution and solid interface of Al-Kapok. The As(V) removal efficiency was approximately 76%-84%, and it was slightly affected at pH levels below 8.0. Further study showed that the maximum adsorption capacity of Al-Kapok for As(V) was 118 μg/g at 30 °C and pH 6, and notable adverse effects were caused by the presence of SO42-and PO43-. It was also found that the boundary layer and film diffusion contributed more to As(V) adsorption. After five adsorption/desorption cycles, regeneration recovered approximately 92% of the adsorption capacity of Al-Kapok used. Overall, Al-Kapok appears to be a suitable adsorbent material for the purification of As-contaminated water.

Abstract
The solar X-ray and Extreme Ultraviolet Imager (X-EUVI), developed by the Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics and Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CIOMP), is the first space-based solar X-ray and Extreme ultraviolet (EUV) imager of China loaded on the Fengyun-3E (FY-3E) satellite supported by the China Meteorological Administration (CMA) for solar observation. Since started work on July 11, 2021, X-EUVI has obtained many solar images. The instrument employs an innovative dual-band design to monitor a much larger temperature range on the Sun, which covers 0.6-8.0 nm in the X-ray region with six channels and 19.5 nm in the EUV region. X-EUVI has a field of view of 42', an angular resolution of 2.5″ per pixel in the EUV band and an angular resolution of 4.1″ per pixel in the X-ray band. The instrument also includes an X-ray and EUV irradiance sensor (X-EUVS) with the same bands as its imaging optics, which measures the solar irradiance and regularly calibrates the solar images. The radiometric calibration of X-EUVS on the ground has been completed, with a calibration accuracy of 12%. X-EUVI is loaded on the FY-3E satellite and rotates relative to the Sun at a uniform rate. Flat-field calibration is conducted by utilizing successive rotation solar images. The agreement between preliminarily processed X-EUVI images and SDO/AIA and Hinode/XRT images indicates that X-EUVI and the data processing algorithm operate properly and that the data from X-EUVI can be applied to the space weather forecast system of CMA and scientific investigations on solar activity.

Abstract
Unilateral aural stimulation has been shown to cause massive cortical reorganization in brain with congenital deafness, particularly during the sensitive period of brain development. However, it is unclear which side of stimulation provides most advantages for auditory development. The left hemisphere dominance of speech and linguistic processing in normal hearing adult brain has led to the assumption of functional and developmental advantages of right over left implantation, but existing evidence is controversial. To test this assumption and provide evidence for clinical choice, we examined 34 prelingually deaf children with unilateral cochlear implants using near-infrared spectroscopy. While controlling for age of implantation, residual hearing, and dominant hand, cortical processing of speech showed neither developmental progress nor influence of implantation side weeks to months after implant activation. In sharp contrast, for nonspeech (music signal vs. noise) processing, left implantation showed functional advantages over right implantation that were not yet discernable using clinical, questionnaire-based outcome measures. These findings support the notion that the right hemisphere develops earlier and is better preserved from adverse environmental influences than its left counterpart. This study thus provides, to our knowledge, the first evidence for differential influences of left and right auditory peripheral stimulation on early cortical development of the human brain.

Abstract
Twistocaloric cooling technology is a novel solid elastocaloric refrigeration to be promising alternatives to conventional compression refrigeration. The transient thermal characteristics of the twistocaloric-effect material and its cooling capacity are critical for this technology. A test rig of the continuous torsional refrigeration system (CTRS) using nitinol wires twisted by a stepping motor was built. The experimental tests show that, the surface temperatures increased as the stepping motor twisted the nitinol wires clockwise, and decreased by untwisting them counterclockwise under the stepping motor speed of 40, 45 and 45rpm. The maximum temperature rise and drop relative to the ambient temperature for the two-twisted-nitinol-wire combinations were 7.1 and 2.6°C, higher than those of 1.4 and 0.6°C for the single nitinol wire, respectively. An optimization program based on a heat conduction model was constructed to attain the potential cooling and heating capacities (PHCCs) of the nitinol wires. Then, PHCCs were introduced into the coupled flow and convective heat transfer model to predict the actual cooling and heating capacities of the CTRS. They were discovered to increase as the number of nitinol wires, the stepping motor speed, and the air velocity. The results can be referred in developing a continuous torsional refrigeration prototype.

Abstract
Uncertainty of target motion, limited perception ability of onboard cameras, and constrained control have brought new challenges to unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) dynamic target tracking control. In virtue of the powerful fitting ability and learning ability of the neural network, this paper proposes a new deep reinforcement learning (DRL)-based end-to-end control method for UAV dynamic target tracking. Firstly, a DRL-based framework using onboard camera image is established, which simplifies the traditional modularization paradigm. Secondly, neural network architecture, reward functions, and soft actor-critic (SAC)-based speed command perception algorithm are designed to train the policy network. The output of the policy network is denormalized and directly used as speed control command, which realizes the UAV dynamic target tracking. Finally, the feasibility of the proposed end-to-end control method is demonstrated by numerical simulation. The results show that the proposed DRL-based framework is feasible to simplify the traditional modularization paradigm. The UAV can track the dynamic target with rapidly changing of speed and direction.

Is early laparoscopic cholecystectomy after clearance of common bile duct stones by endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography superior?: A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials. Abstract
BACKGROUND With medical advancement, common bile duct stones were treated by endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), considered the standard treatment. However, ERCP might induce complications including pancreatitis and cholecystitis that could affect a subsequent laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC), leading to conversion to open cholecystectomy perioperative complications. It is not yet known whether or not the time interval between ERCP and LC plays a role in increasing conversion rate and complications. Bides, in the traditional sense, after ERCP, for avoiding edema performing LC was several weeks later. Even no one study could definite whether early laparoscopic cholecystectomy after ERCP affected the prognosis or not clearly. OBJECTIVE Comparing some different surgical timings of LC after ERCP. METHOD Searching databases consist of all kinds of searching tools, such as Medline, Cochrane Library, Embase, PubMed, etc. All the included studies should meet the demands of this meta-analysis. In all interest outcomes below, we took full advantage of RevMan5 and WinBUGS to assess; the main measure was odds ratio (OR) with 95% confidence. Moreover, considering the inconsistency of the specific time points in different studies, we set a subgroup to analyze the timing of LC after ERCP. For this part, Bayesian network meta-analysis was done with WinBUGS. RESULT In the pool of conversion rate, the result suggested that the early LC group was equal compared with late LC (OR = 0.68, I2 = 0%, P = .23). Besides, regarding morbidity, there was no significant difference between the 2 groups (OR = 0.74, I2 = 0%, P = .26). However, early LC, especially for laparoscopic-endoscopic rendezvous that belonged to performing LC within 24 hours could reduce the post-ERCP pancreatitis (OR = 0.16, I2 = 29%, P = .0003). Considering early LC included a wide time and was not precise enough, we set a subgroup by Bayesian network, and the result suggested that performing LC during 24 to 72 hours was the lowest conversion rate (rank 1: 0%). CONCLUSION In the present study, LC within 24 to 72 hours conferred advantages in terms of the conversion rate, with no recurrence of acute cholecystitis episodes.

Abstract
Recently, a new variant lineage of SARS-CoV-2, namely Omicron, became the dominant global circulating strain. The multiple antigenic mutations of Omicron largely decrease the efficiency of current vaccines and neutralizing antibodies, which highlights the need for more potent and reachable medical countermeasures. Here, we hypothesize that direct viral clearance by nasal irrigation might be a convenient and alternative option, and perform proof-of-concept experiments in the Syrian hamster model. Interestingly, Omicron shows a different dynamic in the changes of viral RNA, viral titers, and proinflammatory cytokines in nasal rinsing samples when compared with the prototype. Meanwhile, the levels of viral load and proinflammatory cytokines in nasal rinsing samples can indicate the severity of lung injury. Of note, daily nasal irrigation efficiently attenuates inflammation and lung injury in Omicron-infected hamsters by decreasing the viral loads in the respiratory tract organs. Moreover, daily nasal irrigation effectively suppresses viral transmission by close contact. Daily nasal irrigation suppresses SARS-CoV-2 replication and close contact transmission Daily nasal irrigation significantly decreases cytokine storm and diffuse lung injury caused by SARS-CoV-2 Viral load and cytokines in nasal rinsing samples indicate the severity of lung injury

Abstract
BACKGROUND Situs inversus totalis (SIT) is a rare congenital condition in which the structure of the abdominal and thoracic cavities is the mirror image of normal. This anatomic reversal makes laparoscopic surgery difficult when treating colorectal cancer.
CASE SUMMARY We describe the successful laparoscopic hemicolectomy of a 68-year-old Chinese woman with SIT and ascending colon cancer. Based on preoperative imaging and careful consideration of the patient’s anatomy, the position of the surgeon was modified such that the surgeon stood between her legs, while the surgical assistant and endoscopist stood to the surgeon’s left. Trocar position was also adjusted appropriately. The surgery lasted 178 min, during which the patient lost 50 mL of blood. Pathology analysis of the resected tumor confirmed an adenocarcinoma in clinical stage pT3N0M0, without lymph node involvement. The patient experienced no postoperative complications and was discharged 10 d after surgery.
CONCLUSION This case illustrates that careful positioning of the surgeon can facilitate laparoscopic surgery of SIT patients.

Abstract
Because of their extremely broad spectrum and strong biocidal power, nanoparticles of metals, especially silver (AgNPs), have been widely applied as effective antimicrobial agents against bacteria, fungi, and so on. However, the mutagenic effects of AgNPs and resistance mechanisms of target cells remain controversial. In this study, we discover that AgNPs do not speed up resistance mutation generation by accelerating genome-wide mutation rate of the target bacterium Escherichia coli. AgNPs-treated bacteria also show decreased expression in quorum sensing (QS), one of the major mechanisms leading to population-level drug resistance in microbes. Nonetheless, these nanomaterials are not immune to resistance development by bacteria. Gene expression analysis, experimental evolution in response to sublethal or bactericidal AgNPs treatments, and gene editing reveal that bacteria acquire resistance mainly through two-component regulatory systems, especially those involved in metal detoxification, osmoregulation, and energy metabolism. Although these findings imply low mutagenic risks of nanomaterial-based antimicrobial agents, they also highlight the capacity for bacteria to evolve resistance.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the efficacy of anterolateral thigh flap preforming tongue in patients with total glossectomy. Methods: A total of 27 patients with tongue cancer who underwent total glossectomy, neck lymph node dissection and anterolateral thigh flap transfer were collected from January 2019 to April 2021 in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Second Xiangya Hospital. All patients were males, the age ranged from 35-73 years. The patients were divided into experimental (14 cases) and control (13 cases) groups, based on whether the tongue was reconstructed. The clinical parameters of two groups were analyzed by independent sample t test or Fisher exact probability method. Results: The success rate of free flap was 100%, of the patients, 2 patients had cervical hematoma and 1 patient had wound infection postoperatively. There was no difference in speech (6.69±3.42 vs. 5.50±3.01, t=0.96, P=0.346) or swallowing (χ2=0.46, P=0.793) function between two groups at 1 month after surgery. However, the speech (24.94±7.43 vs. 18.44±6.30, t=2.48, P=0.020) and swallowing (χ2=6.97, P=0.008) functions in experimental group were significantly better than those in control group. No case was lost to follow-up. All patients were extubated after operation, with average time of 7.2 days in the experimental group and 7.7 days in the control group. The overall survival rate was 71.4% in the experimental group and 61.5% in the control group. Conclusion: The use of anterolateral thigh flap preforming tongue can improve the speech and swallowing functions in patients with total glossectomy and offer a novel method for tongue construction.

Abstract
Background Hypoxia naturally happens in embryogenesis and thus serves as an important environmental factor affecting embryo development. Hif-1α, an essential hypoxia response factor, was mostly considered to mediate or synergistically regulate the effect of hypoxia on stem cells. However, the function and relationship of hypoxia and Hif-1α in regulating mesendoderm differentiation remains controversial. Results We here discovered that hypoxia dramatically suppressed the mesendoderm differentiation and promoted the ectoderm differentiation of mouse embryonic stem cells (mESCs). However, hypoxia treatment after mesendoderm was established promoted the downstream differentiation of mesendoderm-derived lineages. These effects of hypoxia were mediated by the repression of the Wnt/β-Catenin pathway and the Wnt/β-Catenin pathway was at least partially regulated by the Akt/Gsk3β axis. Blocking the Wnt/β-Catenin pathway under normoxia using IWP2 mimicked the effects of hypoxia while activating the Wnt/β-Catenin pathway with CHIR99021 fully rescued the mesendoderm differentiation suppression caused by hypoxia. Unexpectedly, Hif-1α overexpression, in contrast to hypoxia, promoted mesendoderm differentiation and suppressed ectoderm differentiation. Knockdown of Hif-1α under normoxia and hypoxia both inhibited the mesendoderm differentiation. Moreover, hypoxia even suppressed the mesendoderm differentiation of Hif-1α knockdown mESCs, further implying that the effects of hypoxia on the mesendoderm differentiation were Hif-1α independent. Consistently, the Wnt/β-Catenin pathway was enhanced by Hif-1α overexpression and inhibited by Hif-1α knockdown. As shown by RNA-seq, unlike hypoxia, the effect of Hif-1α was relatively mild and selectively regulated part of hypoxia response genes, which fine-tuned the effect of hypoxia on mESC differentiation. Conclusions This study revealed that hypoxia is fine-tuned by Hif-1α and regulates the mesendoderm and ectoderm differentiation by manipulating the Wnt/β-Catenin pathway, which contributed to the understanding of hypoxia-mediated regulation of development. Abstract
OBJECTIVE Primary central nervous system (CNS) cancer is a predominant source of mortality and morbidity globally. This study aims to analyze the burden and variation trends of CNS cancer in China from 1990 to 2019. MATERIALS AND METHODS In this cross-sectional study, we analyzed people of all ages with CNS cancer in China from January 1, 1990, to December 31, 2019. We collected the data including incidence, deaths, and disability-adjusted life-years (DALYs) from the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) study 2019. The age-standardized incidence rate (ASIR), age-standardized death rate (ASDR), and DALYs rate were compared by age and sex. RESULTS In 2019, there were more than 94 (95% uncertainty intervals [CI]: 73-114) thousand incident cases, 63 (47-76) thousand deaths and 2.0 (1.5-2.5) million DALYs due to CNS cancer in China in 2019. From 1990 to 2019, the absolute number of incident cases, deaths, and DALYs increased by 107.0% (39.0 to 169.0), 67.0% (12.0 to 117.0), and 16.0% (-23.0 to 63.0). The ASIR increased by 28.0% (-16.0 to 64.0). ASDR and age-standardized DALYs rate decreased by -10.0% (-40.0 to 15.0) and -22.0% (-50.0 to 10.0), respectively. CONCLUSIONS The overall burden due to CNS cancer in China remains high, as evidenced by the sharp increase in the incident cases, deaths, and DALYs from 1990 to 2019. Elderly patients and neonates show relatively high burden. Sex-specific differences in the incidence of CNS cancer in China are observed.

Abstract
To facilitate removing As(III) from water through an "oxidation-adsorption" process, the double-shell CuOx@MnOy hollow spheres (DCMHS) have been fabricated via a two-step co-precipitation route combined with the soft-template method. The surface characterization results showed that Mn oxides were formed without segregation and uniformly distributed on the surface of CuOx hollow spheres. DCMHS could achieve outstanding performance to remove As(III) with an As maximum adsorption capacity of 32.15 mg/g. Meanwhile, the kinetics results illustrated that the oxidative activity of DCMHS was strengthened due to its specific structure, and part of As(III) was converted to As(V) during the adsorption process. Also, air aeration could further enhance As(III) oxidation and thus improving As removal. The As(III) removal performance could be maintained under neutral and weak alkaline conditions. Phosphate, silicate, and carbonate anions could depress the removal performance, while chloride ions and sulfate anions barely influenced As removal. Moreover, DCMHS could be regenerated using NaOH and KMnO4 solutions without breaking the hollow sphere structure. Based on the spectroscopic analysis results, As(III) molecules were converted to As(V) via two pathways, including the oxidation by Mn oxides or superoxide radicals. The Cu-Mn synergistic effect could not only enhance the oxidative activity of Mn oxides but also produce superoxide radicals via the activation of surface-adsorbed oxygen molecules. Afterwards, the newly formed As(V) could be attached to the hydroxyl groups through surface complexation. Therefore, this work has provided insights into the morphology design of Mn-oxide-containing adsorbents and supplemented the interface reaction mechanisms for enhancing As(III) removal.

Abstract
Free radical generation plays a key role in viral infections. While free radicals have an antimicrobial effect on bacteria or fungi, their interplay with viruses is complicated and varies greatly for different types of viruses as well as different radical species. In some cases, radical generation contributes to the defense against the viruses and thus reduces the viral load. In other cases, radical generation induces mutations or damages the host tissue and can increase the viral load. This has led to antioxidants being used to treat viral infections. Here we discuss the roles that radicals play in virus pathology. Furthermore, we critically review methods that facilitate the detection of free radicals in vivo or in vitro in viral infections.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To explore the influence of nutritional status on 90-day functional outcomes of stroke patients with acute large vessel occlusion in the anterior circulation after endovascular treatment (EVT). METHODS We retrospectively analyzed the baseline, laboratory, surgical and 90-day follow-up data of patients with stroke resulting from acute large vessel occlusion in the anterior circulation, who underwent emergency endovascular treatment in our hospital from July, 2015 to December, 2020. A favorable outcome was defined as a modified Rankin scale score ≤2 at 90 days. Univariate and multivariate regression analyses were performed to explore the relationship between nutritional status and 90-day functional outcomes of the patients. RESULTS A total of 459 patients (mean age of 68.29±11.21 years, including 260 males) were enrolled in this study. According to their prognostic nutritional index (PNI), the patients were divided into normal nutrition group (392 cases, 85.4%), moderate malnutrition group (44 cases, 9.6%), and severe malnutrition group (23 cases, 5.0%). Univariate analysis showed that the patients with good clinical outcomes had a lower proportion of malnutrition with a younger age, a lower rate of diabetes, lower baseline blood pressure, lower baseline NIHSS score, higher baseline ASPECT score, and higher rates of good collateral circulation and complete vascular recanalization. Multivariate analysis showed that in addition to age, diabetes, baseline systolic blood pressure, successful recanalization, baseline ASPECT score, baseline NIHSS score and collateral circulation, a greater PNI was a protective factor for a good 90-day outcome of patients after EVT (moderate vs severe: OR=0.245, 95% CI: 0.066-0.908, P=0.035; normal vs severe: OR=0.185, 95% CI: 0.059-0.581, P=0.004). CONCLUSION Nutritional status an important factor affecting the 90-day outcomes after EVT of stroke patients with acute large vessel occlusion in the anterior circulation.

Low grain weight, a new allele of BRITTLE CULM12, affects grain size through regulating GW7 expression in rice. FRONTIERS IN PLANT SCIENCE 2022; 13:997624. Abstract
Grain weight is a major determinant in rice yield, which is tightly associated with grain size. However, the underlying molecular mechanisms that control this trait remain unclear. Here, we report a rice (Oryza sativa) mutant, low grain weight (lgw), which shows that reduced grain length is caused by decreased cell elongation and proliferation. Map-based cloning revealed that all mutant phenotypes resulted from a nine-base pair (bp) deletion in LGW, which encodes the kinesin-like protein BRITTLE CULM12 (BC12). Protein sequence alignment analysis revealed that the mutation site was located at the nuclear localization signal (NLS) of LGW/BC12, resulting in the lgw protein not being located in the nucleus. LGW is preferentially expressed in both culms and roots, as well as in the early developing panicles. Overexpression of LGW increased the grain length, indicating that LGW is a positive regulator for regulating grain length. In addition, LGW/BC12 is directly bound to the promoter of GW7 and activates its expression. Elevating the GW7 expression levels in lgw plants rescued the small grain size phenotype. We conclude that LGW regulates grain development by directly binding to the GW7 promoter and activating its expression. Our findings revealed that LGW plays an important role in regulating grain size, and manipulation of this gene provides a new strategy for regulating grain weight in rice.

Abstract
Objective: BMI may play a protective role in reducing the mortality rate of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), but its effect on acute exacerbation of COPD remain unclear. Methods: Subjects were selected from the COPD patients registration system established in 2014 in Pudong new district, Shanghai. COPD patients from 8 communities were selected by cluster sampling and follow up was conducted prospectively for 18 months. Basic information and BMI were obtained from baseline survey, and acute exacerbations were collected during follow-up. The association between BMI and risk of acute exacerbation was evaluated by using multiple negative binomial regression. Results: Among 328 community COPD patients, 295 who completed the follow up were included in the analysis, in whom 96.3% (284/295) were mild COPD patients. During the follow-up, 11.1% (33/295) of the patients reported acute exacerbation. The results of multiple negative binomial regression suggested that, the risk for acute exacerbation decreased with the increase of BMI (IRR=0.85, 95%CI:0.73-0.98), overweight patients with BMI ≥25.0 kg/m2 (IRR=0.36, 95%CI:0.13-0.91) or moderate BMI (T2 vs. T1, IRR=0.31, 95%CI:0.11-0.77) had lower risk for acute exacerbation compared with the patients with normal or low BMI. BMI had a linear correlation with the risk of acute exacerbation. Conclusion: The risk for acute exacerbation in patients with mild or moderate COPD in communities decreased with the increase of BMI, and being overweight might be a protective factor for the acute exacerbation of COPD.

Abstract
Optical transmission security has attracted much attention. In recent years, many secure optical transmission systems based on channel characteristics are proposed. However, there are many drawbacks with these systems, such as separated plaintext and key transmission, low key generation rate (KGR), insecurity when the eavesdropper has acquired the lengths of the local fibers utilized by legal parties. To solve the above problems, we propose a novel secure optical transmission system based on neural networks (NNs), which are employed to estimate channel characteristics. By training NNs locally and transmitting pseudo-keys, the proposed system can transmit the plaintext together with key, transforming the key dynamically. Moreover, since the channel characteristics for legal parties and eavesdropper are not completely identical, the NNs trained by legal parties and eavesdropper are inconsistent. Even though the eavesdropper has attained the lengths of local fibers wielded by legal parties, the NN model trained by the legal parties is still unavailable to illegal eavesdropper. The final key is generated by the trained NN and pseudo-key, so the keys generated by legal parties and eavesdropper are dissimilar. The simulation results prove the feasibility of the proposed system with the transmission distance of 100 km and the bit rate of 100 Gbps. Meanwhile, if plaintext and key have equivalent code length, the KGR of 50 Gbps for legal parties and the key disagreement rate (KDR) of 50% for illegal eavesdropper will be realized.

Abstract
In order to enhance the catalytic activity and improve the stability of Mn-Al oxides in acetone oxidation, it is interesting to have found that modulating and accelerating the rate-limiting step by Al substitution rather than just mixing of Mn and Al is crucial for hydrocarbon efficient catalytic destruction. Here, a series of Mn-Al oxides with different Al substitution ratios were prepared by a scalable and facile hydrothermal-redox strategy. The reaction rate, selectivity, and stability of the representative α-MnO2 catalyst in acetone oxidation can be remarkably promoted by simple replacing of the partial framework Mn with Al, which changes the rate-limiting step from acetic acid dissociation to ethanol decomposition accelerated by H2O molecules. Among them, MnAl0.5 displays the best catalytic performance with 90% of acetone converted at just 165 °C and a remarkable CO2 yield. DFT results suggest that the py and px orbitals of the O element take part in the formation of the carbonyl group when the intermediate of removing H* from ethanol reacts with the hydroxyl group of H2O. The dxz orbital of Mn with p-electron of Al plays a vital role in the rate-limiting step. The work provides new insights into engineering catalysts for industrial VOC efficient and economical mineralization.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES The study aims to investigate surface properties and microbial adhesion of various dental polymers fabricated by different manufacturing techniques before and after thermocycling. MATERIALS AND METHODS The following six materials were used to fabricate disk-shaped specimens: conventional denture polymer (Vertex Acrylic Resin, VAR), CAD/CAM denture polymer (Organic PMMA eco Pink, OP), conventional temporary polymer (Protemp™ 4, PT), CAD/CAM temporary polymer (Die Material, DM), conventional denture framework polymer (BioHPP, PB), and CAD/CAM denture framework polymer (breCAM.BioHPP, CB). The specimens were tested before and after thermocycling (5000 and 10,000 cycles, 5 °C/55 °C). Surface roughness (SR), hydrophobicity, and surface topography were determined by profilometry, water contact angle, and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Then specimens were incubated with Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus mutans, and Candida albicans for 24 h, respectively. Microbial adhesion was assessed using colony-forming unit counts, XTT assay, and SEM. RESULTS SR and hydrophobicity of VAR group were higher than that of OP group. S. aureus and C. albicans adhesion on VAR and PT groups were higher than that on OP and DM groups, respectively. There was no difference in surface properties and microbial adhesion between PB and CB groups. After thermocycling, SR (expect OP group) of all materials increased and hydrophobicity decreased, and the amount and activity of S. aureus and C. albicans adhesion also increased. The adhesion of S. aureus and C. albicans showed a moderate positive correlation with SR, independent of hydrophobicity. CONCLUSIONS CAD/CAM denture polymers and temporary polymers showed less S. aureus and C. albicans adhesion when compared to conventional ones, which were mainly affected by surface roughness, independent of hydrophobicity. Thermocycling could increase surface roughness, decrease hydrophobicity, and affect microbial adhesion of the materials. CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE CAD/CAM dental polymers may be a better choice for the manufacture of temporary restorations and dentures to reduce microbial adhesion.

Abstract
The components and structure of cell wall are closely correlated with aluminum (Al) toxicity and tolerance for plants. However, the cell wall assembly and function construction in response to Al is not known. Brefeldin A (BFA), a macrolide, is used to disrupt cell wall polysaccharide components, and nitric oxide (NO), a signal molecule, is used to modify the cell wall structure. Pretreatment with BFA accelerated Al accumulation in root tips and Al-induced inhibition of root growth of two rice genotypes of Nipponbare and Zhefu 802, and significantly decreased the cell wall polysaccharide content including pectin, hemicellulose 1, and hemicellulose 2, indicating that BFA inhibits the biosynthesis of components in the cell wall and makes the root cell wall lose the ability to resist Al. The addition of NO donor (SNP) significantly alleviated the toxic effects of Al on root growth, Al accumulation, and oxidative damage, and decreased the content of pectin polysaccharide and functional groups of hydroxyl, carboxyl, and amino in the cell wall via FTIR analysis, while had no significant effect on hemicellulose 1 and hemicellulose 2 content compared with Al treatment. Furthermore, NO didn't change the inhibition effect of BFA-induced cell wall polysaccharide biosynthesis and root growth. Taken together, BFA disrupts the integrity of cell wall and NO modifies partial cell wall composition and their functional groups, which change the Al tolerance in rice.

Surfactants are widely used to improve the solubility of oil in water in petrochemical, making it more difficult to remove oil-water emulsions during the water treatment process. Electrocoagulation (EC) is an appropriate method for treating oily wastewater and destabilizing emulsions. However, the demulsification mechanism of oil-water droplets emulsified by surfactants with different charges have not been investigated systematically. The demulsification performance of electrocoagulation on emulsions wastewater containing cationic, non-ionic, and anionic surfactants was studied. The results showed that the removal rate of total organic carbon (TOC) in oily wastewater with anionic surfactant by EC reached 92.98% ± 0.40% at a current density of 1 mA/cm2, while that of the non-ionic surfactant was 84.88% ± 0.63%. The characterization of flocs showed that EC has the highest coagulation and demulsification of oil droplets with a negative charge on the surface (-70.50 ± 10.25 mV), which indicated that the charge neutralization of oil droplets was beneficial for the destabilization of the formed oily flocs. However, when the zeta potential of the oil droplets reached 75.50 ± 1.25 mV, the TOC removal efficiency was only 11.80% ± 1.43%. The TOC removal could achieve 33.23% ± 3.21% when the current density improved from 1 mA/cm2 to 10 mA/cm2. The enhanced removal was due to the sweep coagulation rather than charge neutralization. This study provides a fundamental basis for the electrochemical treatment of oily wastewater.

Abstract
In order to enhance the role of Al in the materials, Al-substituted MnAlO catalysts were synthesized via the hydrothermal-redox method at different calcination temperatures for acetone oxidation. There were Al-substituted α-MnO2 and amorphous aluminum oxide existed with homogeneous dispersion of elements in the catalysts. The surface property, reaction rate, CO2 yield and water resistance of MnAlO catalysts were greatly affected by calcination temperatures. MnAlO-450 catalyst exhibited the best catalytic performance (acetone conversion of 90% at 165 °C) with CO2 yield higher than 99.7%, which was mainly related to the weaker Mn-O bond strength, lower temperature reducibility and abundant Lewis acid sites. The acetone conversion of MnAlO-450 increased by as much as 16% in the presence of 1 vol% H2O compared to that in the absence of H2O at T50 (the temperature for 50% conversion of acetone). The acceleration consumption of ethanol as the main by-product by H2O improved the catalytic performance. This work would shed light on the Al substitution based catalysts for OVOC oxidation with highly efficient and water resistance.

Abstract
Evodia rutaecarpa has multiple pharmacological effects and is widely used in the prevention and treatment of migraine, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer, and other chronic diseases; however, the pharmacological effects of its active compound evodiamine (Evo) have not been thoroughly investigated. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of Evo on antiplatelet activation and thrombosis. We discovered that Evo effectively inhibited collagen-induced platelet activation but had no effect on platelet aggregation caused by activators such as thrombin, ADP, and U46619. Second, we found that Evo effectively inhibited the release of platelet granules induced by collagen. Finally, evodiamine inhibits the transduction of the SFKs/Syk/Akt/PLCγ2 activation pathway in platelets. According to in vivo studies, Evo significantly prolonged the mesenteric thromboembolism induced by ferric chloride and had no discernible effect on the coagulation function of mice. In conclusion, the antiplatelet and thrombotic effects of Evo discovered in this study provide an experimental basis for the investigation of the pharmacological mechanisms of Evo and the development of antiplatelet drugs.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Hyperactive cranial neuropathies refractory to medical management can often be debilitating to patients. While microvascular decompression (MVD) surgery can provide relief to such patients when an aberrant vessel is compressing the root entry zone (REZ) of the nerve, the arteries of elderly patients over 65 years of age can be less amenable to manipulation because of calcifications and other morphological changes. A dolichoectatic vertebral artery (DVA), in fact, can lead to multiple cranial neuropathies; therefore, a strategy for MVDs in elderly patients is useful. OBSERVATIONS A 76-year-old man presented with medically refractory trigeminal neuralgia (TN) and hemifacial spasm (HFS). A DVA was the conflicting vessel at the left REZs of the trigeminal and facial nerves. The authors performed a retrosigmoid craniotomy for MVD of the DVA with Teflon padding at both REZs in approximately 1 hour of operative time. The patient was free of facial pain and spasm immediately after surgery and at follow-up. LESSONS The authors described the case of an elderly patient with both TN and HFS caused by compression of a DVA. Simultaneous MVD with Teflon padding at both REZs provided symptomatic relief with limited surgical time. This can be a particularly useful and straightforward surgical strategy in the elderly population.

Abstract
2,6-Dichloro-1,4-benzoquinone (2,6-DCBQ), an emerging water disinfection by-product, is widely detected in water resources. However, its potential effects on the reproductive system are largely unknown. Here, we investigated the long-term effects of 2,6-DCBQ on gonadal development by exposing zebrafish from 15 to 180 days postfertilization (dpf). Following exposure to 2,6-DCBQ (20 and 100 µg/L), female-specific effects including delayed puberty onset, retarded ovarian growth and breakdown of the zona radiata were observed, resulting in subfertility in adult females. Adverse effects in folliculogenesis disappeared two months after cessation of 2,6-DCBQ administration. In contrast, no adverse impacts were noted in male testes. The effects on females were associated with significant reduction in 17β-estradiol (E2) level, suggesting a role for 2,6-DCBQ in anti-estrogenic activity. E2 level change in blood was further supported by dysregulated expression of genes (cyp19a1a, fshb, kiss3, esr2b, vtg1, and vtg3) related to the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonad-liver (HPGL) axis. The present study demonstrates for the first time that 2,6-DCBQ induces reproductive impairments in female zebrafish through disrupting 17β-estradiol level.

Abstract
Zinc alleviates hepatic lipid deposition, but the transcriptional regulatory mechanisms are still unclear. In this study, we characterized the promoter of an SHP (short heterodimer partner) in a teleost Pelteobagrus fulvidraco. The binding sites of an FXR (farnesoid X receptor) were predicted by the SHP promoter, indicating that the FXR mediated its transcriptional activity. The site mutagenesis and the EMSA (electrophoretic mobility shift assay) found that the -375/-384 bp FXR site on the SHP promoter was the functional binding locus responsible for the Zn-induced transcriptional activation. A further study of yellow catfish hepatocytes suggested that the activation of the FXR/SHP is responsible for the effect of Zn on the decreasing lipid content. Thus, this study provides direct evidence of the interaction between the FXR and SHP promoter in fish, and accordingly elucidates the potential transcriptional mechanism by which Zn reduces hepatic lipid accumulation.
