Abstract
OBJECTIVE Nardilysin (N-arginine dibasic convertase, NRDC) is a kind of metalloendopeptidase associated with several inflammatory diseases. NRDC is reported to be eligible for early detection of acute coronary syndrome. However, the availability and effectiveness of NRDC in predicting the prognosis of patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction has never been investigated. PATIENTS AND METHODS From January 2010 to January 2012, the prospective observational cohort study enrolled a total of 396 STEMI patients, who were sampled with blood within 24 hours after admission. A long-term follow-up was conducted to record the primary endpoint of all-cause mortality, as well as secondary endpoint of myocardial infarction, stroke, emergent revascularization and admission due to heart failure. Hazard ratio (HR) related to the serum NRDC level was estimated by Cox regression model. RESULTS The enrolled patients completed the follow-up with an average of 4.6 ± 0.5 years, of whom 24 patients died (primary endpoint, 6.1%), while 89 episodes of secondary endpoints occurred (22.5%). Patients with highest quartile level of NRDC (Q4 level, > 2041 pg/ml) were subjected to higher risk of all-cause death [HR 3.973, 95% CI (1.648-9.575), p = 0.002] compared to patients with lower three quartiles level of NRDC (Q1 to Q3, < 2041 pg/ml), while there was no difference in adverse events (p = 0.403). CONCLUSIONS The increased serum NRDC level at admission is associated with a higher risk of all-cause mortality for ST-elevation myocardial infarction patients.

Abstract
Objective: To determine the prevalence and antimicrobial susceptibility of Salmonella isolated from broiler production process in 4 provinces of China. Methods: Using convenience sampling method, 238 sample sites from broiler whole production process were chosen in Henan, Jiangsu, Heilongjiang and Shandong provinces in 2012. A total of 11 592 samples were collected and detected to analyze prevalence baseline, including 2 090 samples from breeding chicken farms and hatcheries, 1 421 samples from broiler farms, 5 610 samples from slaughterhouses and 2 471 samples from distribution and retail stores. All Salmonella strains were isolated through selective enrichment, and were serotyped according to Kauffmann-White scheme. The antimicrobial susceptibilities of selected Salmonella strains were determined by the broth microdilution method and fourteen antimicrobial agents were examined. Results: During incubation course, the average prevalence of Salmonella was 5.5% in feces of breeding hens, feces of chicks, and hatching eggs, 123 Salmonella strains were isolated. During cultivation course, the prevalence of Salmonella was 8.0% in feces from broiler farms, soil, feed, and workers, 114 Salmonella strains were isolated. During slaughter course, the prevalence of Salmonella was 24.9% in swabs pre-slaughter, dressed broiler carcasses, pre-cooled broiler carcasses, water from precooling pool, cutter and chipping boards, frozen chicken portions, and workers, 1 438 Salmonella strains were isolated. During distribution and sale course, the prevalence of Salmonella was 20.9% in transport carts, frozen chicken portions, retail chicken portions and workers, 551 Salmonella strains were isolated. The dominant Salmonella serotypes were Salmonella Enteritidis (n=1 229) and Salmonella Indiana (n=621). Among 1 231 examined strains, 97.2% Salmonella isolates were resistant to at least one antimicrobial, 69.9% Salmonella strains were multi-drug resistant isolates. Conclusion: Our findings indicated that Salmonella contamination was common and serious in commercial broiler whole production process in China, especially in the course of defeathering, precooling and selling. The environment of broiler farm is the important source of Salmonella contamination. Additionally, antibiotic resistance of Salmonella was serious for common antimicrobials and multi-drug resistant strains existed widespread, which can pose potential risk on public health and clinical therapy.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Our aim was to compare the effect of sinus tarsi approach (STA) vs extensile lateral approach (ELA) for treatment of closed displaced intra-articular calcaneal fractures (DIACF) is still being debated. MATERIALS AND METHODS A thorough research was carried out in the MEDLINE, EMBASE and Cochrane library databases from inception to December 2016. Only prospective or retrospective comparative studies were selected in this meta-analysis. Two independent reviewers conducted literature search, data extraction and quality assessment. The primary outcomes were anatomical restoration and prevalence of complications. Secondary outcomes included operation time and functional recovery. RESULTS Four randomized controlled trials involving 326 patients and three cohort studies involving 206 patients were included. STA technique for DIACFs led to a decline in both operation time and incidence of complications. There were no significant differences between the groups in American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society scores, nor changes in Böhler angle. CONCLUSIONS This meta-analysis suggests that STA technique may reduce the operation time and incidence of complications. In conclusion, STA technique is reasonably an optimal choice for DIACF.

Abstract
Objective: Tests were carried out for obtaining contamination level and antimicrobial resistance of Salmonella on broiler carcasses after chilling in four poultry slaughterhouses in Henan. Methods: Totally, two hundred sixty nine broiler carcasses after chilling were collected in four slaughterhouses with the daily slaughter amount around 15 000 to 50 000. For qualitative analysis of Salmonella EFSA method was used and for quantitative analysis of Salmonella modified Rappaport-Vassiliadis most probable number (MSRV-MPN) method was used. All of the isolates were subjected to antimicrobial susceptibility testing of 8 antibiotics by minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC). Results: Overall, 48.7% (131/269) of the broiler carcasses after chilling were contaminated by Salmonella, and the average of contamination level is 1.32 most probable number MPN/g. Eight serotypes were detected. The dominant serotype is Salmonella enteritidis (93, 71.0%) followed by Salmonella Indiana (21, 16.0%). Only 2 (1.5%) Salmonella enteritidis strains were sensitive to all the tested antibiotics and the remaining 129 isolates were resistant to at least one kind of eight class antibiotics. Among them, resistant to NAL was the common (104, 79.4%) and 51 (38.9%) Salmonella isolates were multidrug-resistant. Conclusion: The contamination rate and multiple antimicrobial resistant of Salmonella on broiler carcasses after chilling from slaughterhouses was very serious, while the isolates contained various serotypes.

Abstract
A variational model that describes the interactive buckling of a thin-walled equal-leg angle strut under pure axial compression is presented. A formulation combining the Rayleigh-Ritz method and continuous displacement functions is used to derive a system of differential and integral equilibrium equations for the structural component. Solving the equations using numerical continuation reveals progressive cellular buckling (or snaking) arising from the nonlinear interaction between the weak-axis flexural buckling mode and the strong-axis flexural-torsional buckling mode for the first time-the resulting behaviour being highly unstable. Physical experiments conducted on 10 cold-formed steel specimens are presented and the results show good agreement with the variational model.

Abstract
The management of hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection in pregnancy is a unique issue. Telbivudine (LdT) is recommended to block HBV mother-to-child transmission (MTCT) in the third trimester. However, the safety of LdT treatment during the entire pregnancy for the long-term growth of infants is unclear. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and long-term safety of LdT for the entire pregnancy period. This retrospective cohort study included 40 pregnant women and 43 children from 2011 to 2017. The antiviral effects and maternal abnormalities were evaluated. In addition, adverse events regarding infants at delivery and HBV vaccination outcomes were recorded. The status of physical development in the children during follow-up was also evaluated. Among pregnant women, the rates of HBV DNA flare were 5.00% during pregnancy and 7.50% postpartum, and the HBeAg seroconversion rates were 7.50% during pregnancy and 7.50% postpartum. No severe maternal abnormalities were observed. Regarding the infants, no one was positive for HBsAg, and only one infant was negative for anti-HBs in children over 7 months of age. Furthermore, no birth defects or severe adverse events were observed at delivery, and 97.67% normal height and 93.02% normal weight in children were observed on follow-up until 5 years of age. In conclusion, LdT use for the entire pregnancy is both effective for treating pregnant women and blocking HBV MTCT. Moreover, LdT is safe for women and infants. Most importantly, the long-term follow-up indicated that LdT is safe and does not affect the growth of children.

Abstract
We investigate the performance at a given power of a thermoelectric heat engine with broken time-reversal symmetry, and derive analytically the efficiency at a given power of a thermoelectric generator within linear irreversible thermodynamics. A universal bound on the efficiency of the thermoelectric heat engine is achieved under a strong constraint on the Onsager coefficients, and some interesting features are further revealed. Our results demonstrate that there exists a trade-off between efficiency and power output, and the efficiency at a given power may surpass the Curzon-Ahlborn limit due to broken time-reversal symmetry. Moreover, optimal efficiency at a given power can be achieved, which indicates that broken time-reversal symmetry offers physically allowed ways to optimize the performance of heat engines. Our study may contribute to the interesting guidelines for optimizing actual engines.

Abstract
The aim of ultrasonic non-destructive evaluation includes the detection and characterization of defects, and an understanding of the nature of defects is essential for the assessment of structural integrity in safety critical systems. In general, the defect characterization challenge involves an estimation of defect parameters from measured data. In this paper, we explore the extent to which defects can be characterized by their ultrasonic scattering behaviour. Given a number of ultrasonic measurements, we show that characterization information can be extracted by projecting the measurement onto a parametric manifold in principal component space. We show that this manifold represents the entirety of the characterization information available from far-field harmonic ultrasound. We seek to understand the nature of this information and hence provide definitive statements on the defect characterization performance that is, in principle, extractable from typical measurement scenarios. In experiments, the characterization problem of surface-breaking cracks and the more general problem of elliptical voids are studied, and a good agreement is achieved between the actual parameter values and the characterization results. The nature of the parametric manifold enables us to explain and quantify why some defects are relatively easy to characterize, whereas others are inherently challenging.

Abstract
Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the molecular characteristics of ESBL-encoding conjugative plasmid identified in muti-drug resistant Escherichia coli isolated from food. Methods: 465 Escherichia coli isolates were collected from national foodborne disease surveillance net from 2013 to 2014 (salad, n=159; meat, n=102; processed meat, n=95; cakes/rice, n=46; cooked dish, n=63). ESBLs strain was detected by Mueller-Hinton agar plate, and then its drug resistance was tested by agar dilution method. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and DNA sequencing were performed to identify the corresponding ESBL genes. Plasmids were typed by PCR-based replicon typing and their characteristics were determined by S1-nuclease pulsed-field gel electrophoresis method. Broth mating assays were carried out for all isolates to determine whether the ESBL marker could be transferred by conjugation. Results: 12 E. coli were found to be resistant to cefotaxime, and all of which were confirmed as ESBLs. The 12 isolates all carried different types of CTX-M genes resistant to drug, and 7 of which carried TEM type as well. All 12 isolates contained at least one plasmid and some had four plasmids, with size ranging from 47-to 220-kb by S1-PFGE anaylsis. Seven isolates demonstrated the ability to transfer their cefotaxime resistance marker to the recotper strain J53 by only one plasmid. Conclusion: This study highlights the diversity of the multi-drug resistant E. coli and also the diversity of ESBL genes in China. Plasmids carrying these genes poses a serious threat to food safety in China.

Abstract
Photoacoustic tomography has emerged as a promising non-invasive imaging technique that integrates the merits of high optical contrast with high ultrasound resolution in deep scattering medium. Unfortunately, the blood background in vivo seriously impedes the quality of imaging due to its comparable optical absorption with contrast agents, especially in conventional linear photoacoustic imaging modality. In this study, we demonstrated that two hybrids consisting of gold nanorods (Au NRs) and zinc tetra(4-pyridyl)porphyrin (ZnTPP) exhibited a synergetic effect in improving optical absorption, conversion efficiency from light to heat, and thermoelastic expansion, leading to a notable enhancement in both linear (four times greater) and nonlinear (more than six times) photoacoustic signals as compared with conventional Au NRs. Subsequently, we carefully investigated the interesting factors that may influence photoacoustic signal amplification, suggesting that the coating of ZnTPP on Au NRs could result in the reduction of gold interfacial thermal conductance with a solvent, so that the heat is more confined within the nanoparticle clusters for a significant enhancement of local temperature. Hence, both the linear and nonlinear photoacoustic signals are enhanced on account of better thermal confinement. The present work not only shows that ZnTPP coated Au NRs could serve as excellent photoacoustic nanoamplifiers, but also brings a perspective for photoacoustic image-guided therapy.

Abstract
Dendritic cells (DCs) play critical roles in initiating and regulating innate immunity as well as adaptive immune responses. However, the role of conventional dendritic cells (cDCs) in concanavalin A (ConA)-induced fulminant hepatitis is unknown. In this study, we demonstrated that depletion of cDCs using either CD11c-diphtheria toxin receptor transgenic mice (DTR Tg) mice or anti-CD11c antibody reduced the severity of liver injury significantly, indicating a detrimental role of cDCs in ConA-induced hepatitis. We elucidated further the pathological role of cDCs as being the critical source of interleukin (IL)-12, which induced the secretion of interferon (IFN)-γ by natural killer (NK) T cells. Reconstitution of cDCs-depleted mice with IL-12 restored ConA-induced hepatitis significantly. Furthermore, we determined that NK T cells were the target of DC-derived IL-12, and NK T cells contributed to liver inflammation and injury through production of IFN-γ. In summary, our study demonstrated a novel function of cDCs in mediating ConA-induced hepatitis through regulating IFN-γ secretion of NK T cells in an IL-12-dependent fashion. Targeting cDCs might provide potentially therapeutic applications in treating autoimmune related liver diseases.

Abstract
We have synthesized CuO nanostructures with flake, dandelion-microsphere, and short-ribbon shapes using solution-phase methods and have evaluated their structure-performance relationship in the heterogeneous catalysis of liquid-phase oxidative coupling reactions. The formation of nanostructures and the morphological evolution were confirmed by transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction analysis, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, elemental mapping analysis, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. CuO nanostructures with different morphologies were tested for the catalytic oxidative coupling of aromatic amines to imines under solvent-free conditions. We found that the flake-shaped CuO nanostructures exhibited superior catalytic efficiency compared to that of the dandelion- and short-ribbon-shaped CuO nanostructures. We also performed extensive density functional theory (DFT) calculations to gain atomic-level insight into the intriguing reactivity trends observed for the different CuO nanostructures. Our DFT calculations provided for the first time a detailed and comprehensive view of the oxidative coupling reaction of benzylamine over CuO, which yields N-benzylidene-1-phenylmethanamine as the major product. CuO(111) is identified as the reactive surface; the specific arrangement of coordinatively unsaturated Cu and O sites on the most stable CuO(111) surface allows N-H and C-H bond-activation reactions to proceed with low-energy barriers. The high catalytic activity of the flake-shaped CuO nanostructure can be attributed to the greatest exposure of the active CuO(111) facets. Our finding sheds light on the prospective utility of inexpensive CuO nanostructured catalysts with different morphologies in performing solvent-free oxidative coupling of aromatic amines to obtain biologically and pharmaceutically important imine derivatives with high selectivity.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the effects and mechanisms of adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs) on bleomycin-induced mice of scleroderma. METHODS In the study, 24 C57BL/6J female mice were randomly divided into control group, bleomycin(BLM)group, ADSCs (hypodermic injection) group and ADSCs (intravenous injection) group . BLM [2 mg/(kg×d)] was injected into the mice to establish the model of scleroderma. There were 6 mice in each group .The control group mice were injected with normal saline 2 mL/(kg×d) by subcutaneously. The rest of the three groups were injected with BLM. ADSCs groups were injected with ADSCs (2×105) subcutaneously and intravenously, respectively. T-helper 17 (Th17) and regulatory T cell (Treg cell) of spleen cells were detected by flow cytometry. The levels of cytokines in the lung tissue and in the serum were detected by real-time fluorescence quantification. Real-time polymerase chain reaction(PCR) and enzyme-linked immuno sorbent assay(ELISA). The pathology change of skin and lung tissue was observed by hematoxylin eosin (HE) staining. RESULTS The proportion of Th17 and Treg increased in BLM group than in control group(15.30%±1.29% vs.4.32%±0.79%; 9.90%±1.95% vs.5.18%±1.35%, P<0.05), the expression of Th17 significantly decreased (5.02%±0.83%, 6.00%±0.82% vs.15.30%±1.29%, P<0.05) and the expression of Treg increased after the ADSCs therapy (14.32%±1.59%, 11.09%±4.31% vs. 9.90%±1.95%, P<0.05). The expression levels of IL-17,IL-6,tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α)mRNA in the lung tissue and IL-6 in the serum increased in BLM group than in control group [3.54±0.30, 10.65±0.66, 5.37±0.52 vs. 1.00±0.00; (21.2±1.74) ng/L vs. (16.87±1.09) ng/L, P<0.05]. The expression of these cytokines significant decreased after the ADSCs therapy [1.63±0.45,1.50±0.29 vs.3.54±0.30; 3.11±0.85, 2.98±0.76 vs.10.65±0.66;1.45±0.47, 1.59±0.41 vs. 5.37±0.52; (17.87±1.45) ng/L, (17.61±1.16) ng/L vs. (21.2±1.74) ng/L, P<0.05]. But there was no obvious difference between ADSCs (hypodermic injection) group and ADSCs (intravenous injection) group(P>0.05). The expression of TGF-β in the serum increased in BLM group than in control group[(33.95±2.49) ng/L vs. (28.8± 2.29) ng/L, P<0.05], however, the expression of TGF-β mRNA had no significant differences than that of control group (1.17±0.11 vs.1.00±0.00, P>0.05). The expression of TGF-β mRNA and protein had no significant differences than that of BLM group [1.25±0.11,1.26±0.12 vs.1.17±0.11; (31.84±2.04) ng/L, (31.25±2.36) ng/L vs. (33.95±2.49) ng/L, P>0.05]. HE staining showed that the inflammation of lung tissue was relieved and the dermal thickness and collagen deposition were decreased after the ADSCs therapy. CONCLUSION ADSCs could effectively alleviate inflammation of the lungs and fibrosis of skin; the effects of anti-inflammatory and anti-fibrosis were associated with immune regulating function.

Abstract
The abundant reserve and low cost of sodium have provoked tremendous evolution of Na-ion batteries (SIBs) in the past few years, but their performances are still limited by either the specific capacity or rate capability. Attempts to pursue high rate ability with maintained high capacity in a single electrode remains even more challenging. Here, an elaborate self-branched 2D SnS2 (B-SnS2) nanoarray electrode is designed by a facile hot bath method for Na storage. This interesting electrode exhibits areal reversible capacity of ca. 3.7 mAh cm-2 (900 mAh g-1) and rate capability of 1.6 mAh cm-2 (400 mAh g-1) at 40 mA cm-2 (10 A g-1). Improved extrinsic pseudocapacitive contribution is demonstrated as the origin of fast kinetics of an alloying-based SnS2 electrode. Sodiation dynamics analysis based on first-principles calculations, ex-situ HRTEM, in situ impedance, and in situ Raman technologies verify the S-edge effect on the fast Na+ migration and reversible and sensitive structure evolution during high-rate charge/discharge. The excellent alloying-based pseudocapacitance and unsaturated edge effect enabled by self-branched surface nanoengineering could be a promising strategy for promoting development of SIBs with both high capacity and high rate response.
