Abstract
UNLABELLED This study aimed to investigate the bone impairment in finger joints in PHO patients by HR-pQCT. Results showed distinguished differences in bone architecture and biomechanics parameters at DIPs between PHO patients and healthy controls using HR-pQCT assessment. Besides, serum PGE2, hsCRP and ESR levels were found negatively correlated with total vBMD. INTRODUCTION This study aimed to investigate the bone impairment in finger joints in primary hypertrophic osteoarthropathy (PHO) patients firstly by high-resolution peripheral quantitative computed tomography (HR-pQCT). METHODS Fifteen PHO patients and 15 healthy controls were enrolled in this study. Bone erosions in hands at distal interphalangeal joints (DIPs) in both PHO patients and controls were evaluated by X-ray. Bone geometry, vBMD, microstructure parameters, and size of individual bone erosion were also measured at the 3rd DIP by HR-pQCT as well. Blood biochemistry levels between the two groups were also compared. RESULTS Compared to X-ray, HR-pQCT assessment were more sensitive for detection of bone erosions, with 14 PHO patients by HR-pQCT versus ten PHO patients by X-ray judged at the 3rd DIP. The average depth, width, and volume of erosions size in PHO patients were 1.38 ± 0.80 mm, 0.79 ± 0.27 mm, and 1.71 ± 0.52 mm3, respectively. The bone cross-areas including total area (+ 25.3%, p ≤ 0.05), trabecular area (+ 56.2%, p ≤ 0.05), and cortical perimeter (+ 10.7%, p ≤ 0.05) at the defined region of interest of 3rd DIP was significantly larger than controls. Total vBMD was 11.9% lower in PHO patients compared with the controls (p ≤ 0.05). Biochemical test results showed the increased levels of inflammatory cytokines, bone resorption markers, and joint degeneration markers in PHO patients. Serum prostaglandin PGE2, high-sensitive C-reactive protein (hsCRP) and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) levels were found negatively correlated with total vBMD. CONCLUSIONS This study demonstrated higher sensitivity of the HR-pQCT measurement at DIPs by showing the differences in architecture and biomechanics parameters at DIPs between the PHO patients and healthy controls, which would be of interest clinically to investigate bone deterioration in PHO patients.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the prevalence and risk factors of diabetic peripheral neuropathy in type 2 diabetic patients under community management programs. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted on T2DM patients in eight communities in Wuhan and Changshu cities. Data would included questionnaire, body measurement, blood testing and clinical examination. The criterion of diabetic peripheral neuropathy was under the combination of symptoms with five physical examinations. Binary logistic regression model was used to analyze the influential factors. Results: The overall prevalence of peripheral neuropathy was 71.2% among the diabetic patients who were managed in primary care health services in the two cities. The binary logistic regression method identified older age (≥60 years, OR=2.39, 95%CI:1.95-2.94), longer diabetic duration (≥10 years, OR=1.25, 95%CI: 1.02-1.54), and worse postprandial glucose control (2 h postprandial plasma glucose >10.0 mmol/L: OR=1.65, 95%CI:1.33-2.04) (all P<0.05) as risk factors for the presence of diabetic peripheral neuropathy, while higher education level was protective factor (compared to patients with education levels of primary school or below, OR=0.52, 95%CI: 0.41-0.66; OR=0.59, 95%CI: 0.44-0.79; OR=0.64, 95%CI: 0.44-0.94 for those with education levels of junior high school, senior high school, and college, respectively). Conclusions: High rates of diabetic peripheral neuropathy among T2DM patients suggested the urgent need for early screening and standardized management at the community levels. It is necessary to promote appropriate screening techniques and methods to identify the peripheral neuropathy, in the primary health service institutions.

Abstract
Every organism across the tree of life compacts and organizes its genome with architectural chromatin proteins. While eukaryotes and archaea express histone proteins, the organization of bacterial chromosomes is dependent on nucleoid-associated proteins. In Escherichia coli and other proteobacteria, the histone-like nucleoid structuring protein (H-NS) acts as a global genome organizer and gene regulator. Functional analogues of H-NS have been found in other bacterial species: MvaT in Pseudomonas species, Lsr2 in actinomycetes and Rok in Bacillus species. These proteins complement hns- phenotypes and have similar DNA-binding properties, despite their lack of sequence homology. In this review, we focus on the structural and functional characteristics of these four architectural proteins. They are able to bridge DNA duplexes, which is key to genome compaction, gene regulation and their response to changing conditions in the environment. Structurally the domain organization and charge distribution of these proteins are conserved, which we suggest is at the basis of their conserved environment responsive behaviour. These observations could be used to find and validate new members of this protein family and to predict their response to environmental changes.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To explore the effects of Mg2+ on the expression of osteoarthritic markers in human cartilage and synovium tissue explants. To investigate the therapeutic effect of intra-articular injection of Mg2+ in an established rat OA (Osteoarthritis) model of anterior cruciate ligament transection with partial medial meniscectomy (ACLT + PMM). DESIGN Human cartilage and synovium explants were collected from total knee replacement surgeries and incubated with MgCl2 (20 mmol/L) in vitro. A rat OA model was established by ACLT + PMM surgery in 450-500 g male Sprague Dawley (SD) rats. To select the optimal dose, intra-articular injections of MgCl2 (0.05, 0.5, 5 mol/L) were performed at 4 weeks after the surgery every 3 days for 2 weeks. The effect of optimized MgCl2 was further determined by histology, immunohistochemistry, and quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction. RESULTS The expressions of osteoarthritic markers in human cartilage and synovium explants were inhibited by Mg2+in vitro. Immunohistochemical analysis further suggested the inhibitory effects of Mg2+ on the expression of MMP-13 and IL-6 in the human tissue explants. Cartilage degeneration and synovitis in ACLT + PMM rats were significantly improved by intra-articular injections of Mg2+ (0.5 mol/L). Immunohistochemical analysis also showed the regulatory effects of Mg2+ on osteoarthritic markers in both cartilage and synovium in rats, consistent with in vitro results. CONCLUSION Intra-articular injections of Mg2+ at 0.5 mol/L attenuate the progression of OA in the ACLT + PMM rat model. Such effect was at least in part explained by the promotion of cartilage matrix synthesis and the suppression of synovial inflammation.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Gastric carcinoma (GC) is a common cancer with heavy mortality and poor outcome at advanced stages and metastasis. Long non-coding RNA nuclear-enriched abundant transcript 1 (NEAT1) has been reported to be an oncogene in GC recently. However, the underlying mechanism is far from understood. We aimed to explore the role of NEAT1 in GC as well as the underlying mechanisms. PATIENTS AND METHODS The expression of NEAT1 in clinical human GC tissues and GC cell lines were assessed by quantitative reverse transcription PCR. Then, NEAT1 was non-physiologically expressed in GC cells (SGC-7901 and MKN45 cells), followed by estimation of cell viability, migration, invasion, apoptosis, activation of the phosphatidylinositol-3-kinase (PI3K)/AKT and glycogen synthase kinase 3β (GSK3β) pathways, and microRNA (miR)-17 level. Moreover, the effects of miR-17 inhibition on cell viability, migration, and activation of the PI3K/AKT and GSK3β pathways in GC cells overexpressing NEAT1 were also explored. RESULTS NEAT1 was up-regulated in GC tissues and cell lines. Then, cell viability and migration of GC cells were markedly increased by NEAT1 overexpression, while the cell invasion and apoptosis were unchanged. The phosphorylated level of PI3K, AKT, and GSK3β were increased by NEAT1 overexpression. Subsequently, we found miR-17 level was positively correlated with NEAT1 expression, and NEAT1 functions through up-regulating miR-17. CONCLUSIONS NEAT1 was up-regulated in GC tissues and cell lines. Its overexpression enhanced cell viability and migration through up-regulating miR-17, along with activation of the PI3K/AKT and GSK3β pathways.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To explore the mechanism of amplified in breast cancer 1 (AIB1) to promote ovarian cancer progress. MATERIALS AND METHODS Cor correlation analysis was performed to obtain the top 100 lncRNAs that were positively correlated with AIB1. The relationship of taurine upregulated gene 1 (TUG1) and clinicopathological characteristics. Moreover, Gene Ontology (GO) and Gene Set Enrichment Analysis (GSEA) were performed to predict the biological process where TUG1 may be involved in. At last, Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8), colon formation and flow cytometry were conducted to explore the biological process that TUG1 may influence. Meanwhile, Western blot was performed to explore the mechanism of TUG1. RESULTS In this study, it was found that P73 antisense RNA 1T (TP73-AS1), LINC00654 and TUG1 had the tumor-promoting effect in the top 100 lncRNAs that were positively correlated with AIB1. The expression level of TUG1 was significantly decreased after intervention of AIB1. Then, the clinical data were analyzed and the results showed that TUG1 was related to the tumor residue, tumor staging, tumor grade and lymph node metastasis. Moreover, the bioinformatics analysis revealed that TUG1 was mainly involved in the regulation of cell cycle. After intervention in TUG1, it was found that the cell proliferation capacity was significantly decreased, and the cell cycle was arrested in G1 phase. Finally, Western blot revealed that the expressions of G1 phase-related proteins were significantly changed. This study indicated that AIB1 regulates the cycle of ovarian cancer cells through TUG1. CONCLUSIONS This study proved that AIB1 can regulate the cell cycle through regulating TUG1.

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the indications and clinic outcomes of vaginal high uterosacral ligament suspension (HUS) for treatment of recurrent advanced pelvic organ prolapse (POP). Methods: This retrospective study analyzed 42 women with recurrent advanced POP who were referred to Fourth Medical Center of PLA General Hospital and underwent transvaginal HUS between November 2005 and January 2018. Primary surgeries included 30 vaginal colporrhaphy, 5 Manchester operation, 5 transvaginal mesh repair,2 sacrospinous ligament fixation.The median time for recurrence from primary pelvic floor repair surgery was 9 months, including 14 cases (33%, 14/42) ≤3 months (median time was 2 months) and 25 cases (67%, 28/42) longer than 3 months (median time was 18 months).The rate of recurrent prolapse in stage Ⅲ or Ⅳ was 79% (33 cases), 45% (19 cases) and 17%(7 cases) in anterior, apical and posterior compartment respectively. Results: Transvaginal high bilateral uterosacral ligaments were identified and used for successful vaginal vault suspension after vaginal hysterectomy and residual cervical resection in all 42 consecutive patients. The cases of transvaginal mesh used in anterior wall and posterior wall were 25 (60%, 25/42) and 3 (7%, 3/42) respectively. There was no major intra- and postoperative complications,such as ureter and other pelvic organ injury. The median time of follow-up was 5.3 years after transvaginal HUS. The points of pelvic organ prolapse quantification system reduced significantly and point C improved from +0.3 cm to -8.2 cm after reoperation (P<0.01). The objective cure rate were 100% (42/42) both in apex and posterior compartment,while 93% (39/42) in anterior compartment. None had reoperation or pessary usage for recurrence of prolapse. Conclusion: Transvaginal HUS with vaginal wall repair could be as a safety, cost-effective, minimal traumatic and durable procedure for recurrent POP in the most of cases.

Abstract
Objective: Since decreased brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and increased dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP4) activity have both been implicated in the pathogenesis of mild cognitive impairment (MCI), the aim of our study was to evaluate the association of MCI with plasma DPP4 activity to BDNF ratio (DBR) in an elderly population with normal glucose tolerance. Methods: We cross-sectionally measured C-reactive protein, interleukin-6, nitrotyrosine, 8-iso-PGF2a, DPP4 activity BDNF and calculated the DBR in a total of 1,066 elderly participants in China. MCI was determined by the Montreal Cognitive Assessment and finally confirmed by neurologists. Results: An inverse correlation was found between DPP4 activity and BDNF (r = -0.456, P < 0.001) and this inverse correlation was partly mediated by nitrotyrosine and 8-iso-PGF2a. Across rising quartiles of DBR, nitrotyrosine, 8-iso-PGF2a, C-reactive protein and interleukin-6 progressively increased, whereas the Montreal Cognitive Assessment score progressively decreased. Subjects in the lowest quartile of BDNF and highest quartiles of DBR and DPP4 activity, had higher MCI risk compared with subjects in the highest quartile of the BDNF and lowest quartiles of DBR and DPP4 activity, respectively (all P < 0.05). The odds ratio for MCI became more pronounced with decreased BDNF and increased DPP4. Conclusion: In conclusion, a negative correlation was found between DPP4 activity and BDNF, and this negative correlation was partly mediated by oxidative stress, not inflammation. The DBR was positively associated with MCI and thus may be used as a novel risk biomarker for MCI in an elderly population with normal glucose tolerance.

Abstract
Boron (B) is essential for normal plant growth, including pollen tube growth. B deficiency influences various physiological and metabolic processes in plants. However, the underlying mechanism of B deficiency in pollen tube growth is not sufficiently understood. In the present research, the influence of B deficiency on apple (Malus domestica) pollen tube growth was studied and the possible regulatory mechanism evaluated. Apple pollen grains were cultured under different concentrations of B. Scanning ion-selective electrode technique, fluorescence labelling and Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) analysis were used to detect calcium ion flux, cytosolic Ca2+ concentration ([Ca2+ ]cyt), actin filaments and cell wall components of pollen tubes. B deficiency inhibited apple pollen germination and induced retardation of tube growth. B deficiency increased extracellular Ca2+ influx and thus led to increased [Ca2+ ]cyt in the pollen tube tip. In addition, B deficiency modified actin filament arrangement at the pollen tube apex. B deficiency also altered the deposition of pollen tube wall components. Clear differences were not observed in the distribution patterns of cellulose and callose between control and B deficiency treated pollen tubes. However, B deficiency affected distribution patterns of pectin and arabinogalactan proteins (AGP). Clear ring-like signals of pectins and AGP on control pollen tubes varied according to B deficiency. B deficiency further decreased acid pectins, esterified pectins and AGP content at the tip of the pollen tube, which were supported by changes in chemical composition of the tube walls. B appears to have an active role in pollen tube growth by affecting [Ca2+ ]cyt, actin filament assembly and pectin and AGP deposition in the pollen tube. These findings provide valuable information that enhances our current understanding of the mechanism regulating pollen tube growth.

Abstract
Our long-term goal is to discover adhesion GPCR targets in breast cancer. Our previous studies have found GPR110 to be overexpressed in tumorigenic cell population as well as in anti-HER2 drug-resistant derivatives of HER2+ breast cancer cells. In subsequent studies, we found that GPR110 knockdown inhibited anchorage-independent cell growth, mammosphere formation, and invasion/migration of HER2+ breast cancer cells. Conversely, overexpression of GPR110 by lentiviral delivery of cDNA enhanced anchorage-independent cell growth, mammosphere formation, and invasion/migration in HER2+ breast cancer cells. In addition, GPR110 overexpression led to increase in the % of Aldefluor-positive tumorigenic cell population, further emphasizing the role of GPR110 as a mediator of tumorigenesis in addition to the metastatic processes in HER2+ breast cancer. Among various subtypes of breast cancer, GPR110 expression was higher in HER2+ and basal subtypes, most of which are triple-negative (negative for ER, PR, and HER2), compared to luminal A and B subtypes. GPR110 was either gene amplified or upregulated in 4% of all breast cancers based on the publicly available TCGA dataset. GPR110 overexpression predicted poorer recurrence-free survival in triple-negative breast cancer. Furthermore, GPR110 was overexpressed in brain metastatic lesions compared to mammary tumors in patient-derived xenograft models of triple-negative breast cancer (WHIM2 and WHIM30). Knocking down GPR110 reduced anchorage-dependent and -independent cell growth, mammosphere formation, and invasion/migration of triple-negative breast cancer cells. Overall, our results suggest that GPR110 may be a potential drug target in HER2+ and triple-negative breast cancer. Drug discovery efforts to identify GPR110 antagonists will provide useful pharmacological tools for validating GPR110 as a drug target in breast cancer. Since GPR110 is also overexpressed in various other types of cancer, understanding the mechanism of GPR110 upregulation and signaling in cancer is an important future direction.

Abstract
The AURKA gene, encoding Aurora kinase-A (Aurora-A), is frequently amplified and overexpressed across multiple cancer types correlating with poor prognosis. Although the AURKA gene is frequently amplified in human cancers, underlying mechanism(s) for Aurora-A protein stability through different phases of cell cycle are not well elucidated. Inhibiting the kinase activity and promoting protein degradation are two well-validated conceptual strategies for targeting protein kinases in cancers. Here, we demonstrate that Eukaryotic Elongation Factor 1 Alpha 2 (eEF1A2) facilitates PTEN-GSK3β mediated Aurora-A protein degradation through the SCF complex (SKP1-Cul1-FBXW7) during the S/G2 phase of proliferating cells. In contrast, this mechanism is inactivated in cancer cells accompanying PTEN-GSK3β pathway deficiency. Mechanistically, eEF1A2 interacts with Aurora-A, GSK3β, FBXW7 and Cul1-E3 ligase, as the SCF complex, to facilitate Aurora-A polyubiquitination for 26S proteasomal degradation. eEF1A2 promotes PTEN phosphorylation at T366 and stability, inactivates AKT and activates GSK3β which in turn phosphorylates Aurora-A at S283, S284 and S342. The phosphorylation of Aurora-A at S342 is detected during S/G2 phase of cell mitosis in parallel with eEF1A2-SCF complex formation with active form of GSK3β and neddylated Cul1. Conversely, genetic ablation of EEF1A2 and PTEN, activation of AKT, inhibition of GSK3β, expression of Aurora-A phosphodeficient-mutant attenuates the Aurora-A protein degradation which is corroborated in Aurora-A overexpressing mouse mammary carcinomas and human breast carcinomas. This study identifies a novel mechanism of Aurora-A protein degradation mediated eEF1A2-PTEN-GSK3β pathway and provides a framework for the discovery of Aurora-A therapeutic targets in breast cancer that harbors deficiency of PTEN tumor suppressor pathway.

Abstract
Abstract
Background: Lapatinib (L) plus trastuzumab (T) alone or with endocrine therapy for HER2+/ER+ tumors but without chemotherapy, yielded complete tumor eradication in xenograft models. In neoadjuvant trials (NCT00548184, 00999804, 01973660), a substantial number of patients achieved pathologic complete response with this same strategy. The irreversible pan-HER inhibitor neratinib (N) has been recently approved by the FDA for early stage HER2+ breast cancer and has shown greater potency compared to L in the preclinical setting. However, the therapeutic efficacy of N in combination with T (N+T) and how it compares to pertuzumab (P) +T (without chemotherapy) has not been well studied.
We hypothesize that dual HER2 inhibition using N+T will be highly efficacious and more effective than P+T due to more complete blockade of the HER pathway. Here, we evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of N, P, and T, either alone or in combination, with a primary focus on comparing N+T vs. P+T in established cell line- and patient-derived xenograft (PDX) models.
Methods: Athymic nude and SCID/Beige mice bearing BT474-AZ cell line (ER+/HER2+), and BCM-3963 PDX tumors (ER-/HER2+, wild-type PIK3CA), respectively were randomized to vehicle, N (20mg/kg, 5 days/week), T (10mg/kg, twice a week), P (6mg/kg, once a week), N+T, or P+T, with simultaneous estrogen (E2) deprivation (ED) in BT474-AZ model. Treatment response was assessed by biweekly tumor measurements. Study endpoints included time to tumor regression (TTR) and progression (TTP) (tumor halving/doubling over baseline, respectively), and the rate and time of complete response (CR and TCR, respectively). Results were analyzed using survival analysis (Kaplan-Meier estimates) and generalized Wilcoxon tests.
Results: In the BT474-AZ model, mice treated with E2+vehicle and ED+vehicle showed steady tumor growth, with a median TTP of 8 and 25 days, respectively. While tumor regression was observed in 100% of mice treated with N, P, T, N+T, and P+T, tumors treated with N+T regressed faster compared to P (p<0.001), T (p=0.004), and P+T (p=0.044). Further, N+T was superior to N (p=0.018) and T (p=0.007) alone in achieving accelerated CR. In the BCM-3963 model, tumors treated with vehicle, T, P, and P+T continued to grow with a median TTP of 11, 16, 19, and 17 days, respectively. In contrast, CR was achieved in 100% of N and N+T treated mice. Importantly, combining N with T accelerated the attainment of CR compared to N alone (p=0.026). Molecular and pathologic analysis of short-term treated tumors in both models to evaluate alterations in HER signaling, cell proliferation, and apoptosis is ongoing.

Conclusions: Our findings establish the preclinical efficacy of combining N with T for HER2+ breast cancer and warrant further clinical testing to investigate the efficacy of N+T without chemotherapy in the neoadjuvant setting for patients with HER2+ breast cancer.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the efficacy and safety of cryotherapy combined with balloon dilatation through electronic bronchoscope in the management of airway occlusion caused by scar stenosis type of tracheobronchial tuberculosis (TBTB). Methods: From December 2008 to May 2016, 98 cases of airway occlusion caused by scar stenosis of TBTB were diagnosed by microbiology, histopathology, CT (computer tomography), bronchial reconstructions and bronchoscopy. All patients underwent routine anti-tuberculosis chemotherapy and cryotherapy through bronchoscope. The patients whose airways were reopened successfully received balloon dilatation through bronchoscope subsequently. The treatment effects were estimated by indexes including clinical efficacy, modified medical research council (mMRC) dyspnea scale and complications. Results: Among the 98 patients, airway occlusion in 87 cases were reopened successfully by cryotherapy for (10±4) times, and then these patients received balloon dilatation through bronchoscope for (7±3) times subsequently. The total effective rates were 76.53% and 72.45% after 3 and 12 months after the treatments respectively. Analysis of the disease courses of patients with different therapeutic efficacy showed that the median disease course was 3 months in healed cases, 5 months in effective cases and 9 months in ineffective cases. There was a significant difference between the ineffective and the total effective cases in disease courses (t=-15.012, P<0.01). The average of mMRC score changed from (3.8±0.5) before the procedure, to (1.1±0.7), (1.2±0.7) and (1.2±0.7) immediately, 3 and 12 months after the treatments. The difference was significant between the scores before and after therapy (t=30.398-31.058, P<0.01), but not among the 3 scores after treatments. No serious complications were observed in all cases. Conclusions: Cryotherapy combined with balloon dilatation through electronic bronchoscope was a very safe and effective method in the management of airway occlusion caused by scar stenosis of tracheobronchial tuberculosis. A shorter course of disease indicated more benefits for patients.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Increased dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP4) activity and reduced brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) in peripheral circulation are both associated with a high risk of mild cognitive impairment (MCI) in the elderly. Hence, we aimed to investigate the association between plasma DPP4 activity to BDNF ratio (DBR) and MCI in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes. DESIGN AND METHODS We measured plasma DPP4 activity, BDNF levels, oxidative stress parameters, inflammatory markers and calculated DBR in 1833 elderly type 2 diabetic patients aged 60 years or older. MCI was diagnosed according to the National Institute on Aging-Alzheimer's Association workgroups criteria. Further, mediation analysis was performed to estimate the mediator role of oxidative stress on the relationship between DPP4 activity and BDNF. RESULTS DPP4 activity was negatively associated with BDNF (r = -0.408, P < 0.001). Oxidative stress, particularly in male participants, acted as a partial mediator in the relationship between DPP4 activity and BDNF. Participants in the highest quartile of DBR had higher nitrotyrosine, 8-isoPGF2a, interleukin-6, C-reactive protein and lower Montreal Cognitive Assessment score compared with those in the lowest quartile. The odds ratio (5.15, 95% CI 3.64-7.30) for MCI in the highest DBR quartile was significantly higher than in the lowest quartile. The risk for MCI increased with higher levels of DPP4 activity and lower levels of BDNF. CONCLUSIONS Oxidative stress partially mediates the inverse relationship between DPP4 and BDNF. Our data provide evidence for a strong link between DBR and MCI, suggesting DBR to be a new biomarker for MCI in type 2 diabetic patients.

Abstract
Objective: To explore the clinical management and outcomes of polypropylene mesh and sling exposure after reconstructive pelvic surgery (RPS) . Methods: A total of 110 cases of mesh and sling exposure after RPS were analyzed, who admitted between Jan. 2002 and Oct. 2017 in First Affiliated Hospital of PLA General Hospital, in which 3 cases were referred from other hospitals. Mesh and sling exposures were identified in the outpatient clinic and categorized and managed according to International Continence Society and International Urogynecology Association (ICS-IUGA) classification about category, time and site (CTS) of mesh complication. Outpatient management included observation, topical estrogen use and mesh removal. Management in hospital included surgical removal of exposed mesh and repair of the resulting defects under the anesthesia. Seventy-four cases were managed in the outpatient setting, and 36 cases required inpatient management. Follow-up was consecutively performed from 1 month to 10 years. Objective outcome included the surgeon's assessment of the healing state of the vaginal mucosa. Subjective outcome was evaluated with patient global impression of improvement questionnaire (PGI-I) . Results: One hundred and ten patients with mesh exposure were classified according to the different RPS underwent. There were 95 cases from transvaginal mesh surgery, 5 cases from anti-stress urinary incontinence sling surgery, and 10 cases from sacrocolpopxy. The outpatient group healed at an average of (3.0±1.8) months. Of the 36 patients who required inpatient management, 21 cases healed completely at an average of 7 days after one surgery. The remaining 8 cases required either two or three times surgeries or conservative management. In the outpatient group, the PGI-I scale very much better was found in 65 cases (87.8%) and much better in 9 cases (12.2%) . In the inpatient surgery group, the scale was very much better in 30 cases (83.3%) , and much better in 6 cases (16.7%) . Conclusions: Among patients with mesh exposure after mesh-augmented RPS, 2/3 of patients with a CTS classification 1-3 could be managed in the office, and remaining 1/3 with CTS classification 4-6 need operation under anesthesia in hospital. If the mesh and sling exposure could be scientifically classified, according to the size, site and accompany symptoms, as well as pain, most of the mesh complications after explosure could be resolved. Using the pelvic floor repair and polypropylene mesh sling, the majority of the patients could get a better outcome, without affecting the effect of the original operation.

Abstract
AIM To investigate the volatile flavour components (VFCs), microbiota and their correlations of three categories of sufu, a Chinese fermented soybean food. METHODS AND RESULTS The VFCs were analyzed by headspace solid-phase micro-extraction (HS-SPME) combined with gas chromatography and mass spectrometry. A total of 141 VFCs were tentatively identified, in which 12 esters, eight aldehydes, five alcohols and nine miscellaneous compounds were recognized as the characteristic VFCs through the relative odour activity value. The complex microbial community was revealed by Illumina MiSeq sequencing. Among the total 202 bacteria and 125 fungi species identified, 16 bacteria and 7 fungi species were revealed as dominant community members. Furthermore, the VFC-microbiota correlation was characterized by Spearman's rank correlation coefficients (ρ). Based on the positive VFC-microbiota correlation, two bacterial species and three fungal species were selected as potential flavour-producing microbiota. CONCLUSIONS A variety of VFCs and complicated microbiota were observed in the three categories of sufu. Lactococcus lactis, Sphingobacterium sp., Pichia fermentans, Kodamaea ohmeri and Saccharomyces rouxii were the potential flavour-producing microbiota. SIGNIFICANCE AND IMPACT OF THE STUDY The preliminary results would be useful for designing starter cultures to produce sufu with desirable sensory properties, consistent flavour and shorter ripening time. Furthermore, these results will also provide a new insight to improve the flavour quality of traditional fermented soybean food.
