Abstract
BACKGROUND The pathogenetic factors generating the innate immune signal necessary for T cell activation, initiation and chronification of Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS, also known as Acne inversa) are still poorly understood. Emerging evidence suggests that a defective keratinocyte function critically contributes to HS disease development and progression. OBJECTIVES To elucidate the role of keratinocytes in HS lesion formation, we compared the transcriptomes of lesional and perilesional epidermis isolated from HS patients by RNA sequencing (RNA Seq). METHODS Pairwise-matched lesional and perilesional HS skin samples of five different donors were obtained and epidermal keratinocytes freshly isolated and processed for RNA extraction and RNA seq. Lesionally regulated genes were analyzed by large scale promotor analysis and functional annotation clustering to identify epidermally overrepresented transcription factor binding sites and functionally related gene groups. Results were experimentally validated with independent epidermal isolates of patient-matched lesional and perilesional HS skin employing qRT-PCR, cell culture, immunoblot, and immunostaining. RESULTS We show that HS is characterized by a strong epidermal stress state evident by a significant overrepresentation of an AP-1-driven gene signature and a substantial activation of the stress-activated cJun N-terminal kinase (JNK) pathway in lesional epidermis. Additionally, our data reveal a strong induction of STAT1 activation in lesional HS epidermis that likely results from IFNγ production and triggered expression of key inflammatory genes coordinating innate immune activation and the adaptive T cell response in HS. CONCLUSIONS Our data implicate a key role of stress signaling and JAK/STAT1 activation in disease progression of HS and suggest interference with JAK/STAT1 signaling as a potentially promising therapeutic approach for HS.

Abstract
The study of nuclei and antinuclei production has proven to be a powerful tool to investigate the formation mechanism of loosely bound states in high-energy hadronic collisions. The first measurement of the production of _{Λ}^{3}H in p-Pb collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02 TeV is presented in this Letter. Its production yield measured in the rapidity interval -1<y<0 for the 40% highest-multiplicity p-Pb collisions is dN/dy=[6.3±1.8(stat)±1.2(syst)]×10^{-7}. The measurement is compared with the expectations of statistical hadronization and coalescence models, which describe the nucleosynthesis in hadronic collisions. These two models predict very different yields of the hypertriton in charged particle multiplicity environments relevant to small collision systems such as p-Pb, and therefore the measurement of dN/dy is crucial to distinguish between them. The precision of this measurement leads to the exclusion with a significance larger than 6.9σ of some configurations of the statistical hadronization model, thus constraining the theory behind the production of loosely bound states at hadron colliders.

Abstract
Introduction We will present experience developing a system for monitoring training placements in psychiatry and community paediatrics, and how this was expanded to provide an automated anonymised MSF for trainers for annual appraisal and will identify trainers in need of additional support and other post/training programme issues. The session will be of interest to educators and medical education leads with practical tips and lessons learnt over the last 8 years since the system was first developed. Objectives The system was also used to identify trainers in need of additional support and other post/training programme issues. Methods We used an electronic system to gain the infromation as stated in the introduction. Results Over the last 8 years we have collected data using this system. the results for our trust will be displayed annoymously but the system is the ficus of this presenation. Conclusions The advantages of the system are that it runs throughout the year (so covers each post and placement), has high trainee response rates, has no selection bias (compared with some other MSF systems) and the results are embedded within local quality systems and individual consultant appraisals. The data that the system collects can help provide robust evidence when investigating concerns that might only arise periodically (for example through the annual GMC trainee survey in the UK). We believe that this system will be applicable for doctors providing training in other countries and empowers the improvement of psychiatric training for the profession. Disclosure No significant relationships.

Abstract
The North Sea and its coastal zones are heavily impacted by anthropogenic activities, which has resulted in significant chemical pollution ever since the beginning of the industrialization in Europe during the 19th century. In order to assess the chemical Anthropocene, natural archives, such as sediment cores, can serve as a valuable data source to reconstruct historical emission trends and to verify the effectiveness of changing environmental legislation. In this study, we investigated 90 contaminants covering inorganic and organic pollutant groups analyzed in a set of sediment cores taken in the North Seas' main sedimentation area (Skagerrak). We thereby develop a chemical pollution fingerprint that records the constant input of pollutants over time and illustrates their continued great relevance for the present. Additionally, samples were radiometrically dated and PAH and PCB levels in porewater were determined using equilibrium passive sampling. Furthermore, we elucidated the origin of lead (Pb) contamination utilizing non-traditional stable isotopic analysis. Our results reveal three main findings: 1. for all organic contaminant groups covered (PAHs, OCPs, PCBs, PBDEs and PFASs) as well as the elements lead (Pb) and titanium (Ti), determined concentrations decreased towards more recent deposited sediment. These decreasing trends could be linked to the time of introductions of restrictions and bans and therefor our results confirm, amongst possible other factors, the effectiveness of environmental legislation by revealing a successive change in contamination levels over the decades. 2. concentration trends for ΣPAH and ΣPCB measured in porewater correspond well with the ones found in sediment which suggests that this method can be a useful expansion to traditional bulk sediment analysis to determine the biologically available pollutant fraction. 3. Arsenic (As) concentrations were higher in younger sediment layers, potentially caused by emissions of corroded warfare material disposed in the study area after WW II.

Abstract
Background Up to 40% of patients with metastatic human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-positive breast cancer develop brain metastases (BMs). Understanding of clinical features of these patients with HER2-positive breast cancer and BMs is vital. Patients and methods A total of 2948 patients from the Brain Metastases in Breast Cancer registry were available for this analysis, of whom 1311 had primary tumors with the HER2-positive subtype. Results Patients with HER2-positive breast cancer and BMs were—when compared with HER2-negative patients—slightly younger at the time of breast cancer and BM diagnosis, had a higher pathologic complete response rate after neoadjuvant chemotherapy and a higher tumor grade. Furthermore, extracranial metastases at the time of BM diagnosis were less common in HER2-positive patients, when compared with HER2-negative patients. HER2-positive patients had more often BMs in the posterior fossa, but less commonly leptomeningeal metastases. The median overall survival (OS) in all HER2-positive patients was 13.2 months (95% confidence interval 11.4-14.4). The following factors were associated with shorter OS (multivariate analysis): older age at BM diagnosis [≥60 versus <60 years: hazard ratio (HR) 1.63, P < 0.001], lower Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group status (2-4 versus 0-1: HR 1.59, P < 0.001), higher number of BMs (2-3 versus 1: HR 1.30, P = 0.082; ≥4 versus 1: HR 1.51, P = 0.004; global P = 0.015), BMs in the fossa anterior (HR 1.71, P < 0.001), leptomeningeal metastases (HR 1.63, P = 0.012), symptomatic BMs at diagnosis (HR 1.35, P = 0.033) and extracranial metastases at diagnosis of BMs (HR 1.43, P = 0.020). The application of targeted therapy after the BM diagnosis (HR 0.62, P < 0.001) was associated with longer OS. HER2-positive/hormone receptor-positive patients showed longer OS than HER2-positive/hormone receptor-negative patients (median 14.3 versus 10.9 months; HR 0.86, P = 0.03), but no differences in progression-free survival were seen between both groups. Conclusions We identified factors associated with the prognosis of HER2-positive patients with BMs. Further research is needed to understand the factors determining the longer survival of HER2-positive/hormone receptor-positive patients. Patients with HER2-positive BMs from breast cancer have the best prognosis compared with other tumor subtypes. Among HER2-positive patients, hormone receptor-positive patients have the longest survival. HER2-targeted therapy is significantly associated with a better prognosis in patients with BMs. On average, two HER2-targeted therapy lines were administered prior to the development of BMs. New compounds are urgently needed to improve the outcome of this subgroup of patients.

Abstract
Abstract
Aims
The outcomes of patients presenting with acute myocarditis and life–threatening ventricular arrhythmias (LT–VA) are unclear. The aim of this study was to assess the incidence and predictors of recurrent major arrhythmic events (MAEs) after hospital discharge in this patient population.
Methods and Results
We retrospectively analysed 156 patients (median age 44 years; 77% male) discharged with a diagnosis of acute myocarditis and LT–VA from 16 hospitals worldwide. Diagnosis of myocarditis was based on histology or the combination of increased markers of cardiac injury and cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) Lake Louise criteria. MAEs were defined as the relapse, after discharge, of sudden cardiac death or successfully defibrillated ventricular fibrillation, or sustained ventricular tachycardia (sVT) requiring implantable cardioverter–defibrillator therapy or synchronized external cardioversion. Median follow–up was 23months [first to third quartile (Q1–Q3) 7–60]. Fifty–eight (37.2%) patients experienced MAEs after discharge, at a median of 8 months (Q1–Q3 2.5–24.0 months; 60.3% of MAEs within the first year). At multivariable Cox analysis, variables independently associated with MAEs were presentation with sVT [hazard ratio (HR) 2.90, 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.38–6.11]; late gadolinium enhancement involving ≥2 myocardial segments (HR 4.51, 95% CI 2.39–8.53), and absence of positive short–tau inversion recovery (STIR) (HR 2.59, 95% CI 1.40–4.79) at first CMR.
Conclusions
In this international multicentre study, patients discharged free from HTx or LVAD after an acute myocarditis complicated by LT–VA had a recurrence of MAEs during follow–up of 37.2%, after a median time of 8 months. Initial CMR pattern and sVT at presentation stratify the risk of arrhythmia recurrence.

Polarization of Λ and Λ[over ¯] Hyperons along the Beam Direction in Pb-Pb Collisions at sqrt[s]_{NN}=5.02 TeV. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2022; 128:172005. Abstract
The polarization of the Λ and Λ[over ¯] hyperons along the beam (z) direction, P_{z}, has been measured in Pb-Pb collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02 TeV recorded with ALICE at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The main contribution to P_{z} comes from elliptic flow-induced vorticity and can be characterized by the second Fourier sine coefficient P_{z,s2}=⟨P_{z}sin(2φ-2Ψ_{2})⟩, where φ is the hyperon azimuthal emission angle and Ψ_{2} is the elliptic flow plane angle. We report the measurement of P_{z,s2} for different collision centralities and in the 30%-50% centrality interval as a function of the hyperon transverse momentum and rapidity. The P_{z,s2} is positive similarly as measured by the STAR Collaboration in Au-Au collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=200 GeV, with somewhat smaller amplitude in the semicentral collisions. This is the first experimental evidence of a nonzero hyperon P_{z} in Pb-Pb collisions at the LHC. The comparison of the measured P_{z,s2} with the hydrodynamic model calculations shows sensitivity to the competing contributions from thermal and the recently found shear-induced vorticity, as well as to whether the polarization is acquired at the quark-gluon plasma or the hadronic phase.

Unemployed individuals contact GPs more frequently but report lower satisfaction: results of the population-based DEGS1 and the GPCare-1 patient survey. Sci Rep 2022; 12:6670. Abstract
Unemployment is associated with a variety of adverse health-related outcomes, yet little data on primary care services for this risk group exist. Using data from two surveys, we analyzed the frequency of GP contacts and patients' experiences with GPs comparing unemployed with employed individuals. Data of the German Health Interview and Examination Survey for Adults (DEGS1), a nationwide cross-sectional study (n = 8151), were analyzed regarding associations between employment status and the number of GP visits. The General Practice Care-1 study (GPCare-1), a cross-sectional questionnaire survey (n = 813), evaluated patients' communication with their GP. Data were collected from June to August 2020 in 12 teaching practices affiliated with our university. The statistical analysis included individuals of working age (18-64 years old) (DEGS1 n = 5659, GPCare-1 n = 587). In both studies, working age subpopulations were analyzed (DEGS1: n = 5659 of 8151, GPCare-1: n = 587 of 813). In DEGS1, the prevalence of unemployment was 6.5% (n = 372). Unemployed individuals had more GP contacts in the last 12 months (4.50 vs. 2.86, p < 0.001). In the GPCare-1 study, unemployed individuals (6.6%, n = 39) were significantly less satisfied with GP communication: enough space in consultations (42.9% vs. 60.3%, p = 0.043), feeling comfortable to address sensitive topics (44.1% vs. 65.9%, p = 0.010), problems taken very seriously by GP (48.6% vs. 70.6%, p = 0.007). Yet, they were more willing to accept GPs' help for psychosocial burdens (67.6% vs. 47.6%, p = 0.024). GPs should be aware that patients with unemployment wish more support to cope with their burdening situation.

Measurement of the Groomed Jet Radius and Momentum Splitting Fraction in pp and Pb-Pb Collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02 TeV. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2022; 128:102001. Abstract
This article presents groomed jet substructure measurements in pp and Pb-Pb collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02 TeV with the ALICE detector. The soft drop grooming algorithm provides access to the hard parton splittings inside a jet by removing soft wide-angle radiation. We report the groomed jet momentum splitting fraction, z_{g}, and the (scaled) groomed jet radius, θ_{g}. Charged-particle jets are reconstructed at midrapidity using the anti-k_{T} algorithm with resolution parameters R=0.2 and R=0.4. In heavy-ion collisions, the large underlying event poses a challenge for the reconstruction of groomed jet observables, since fluctuations in the background can cause groomed parton splittings to be misidentified. By using strong grooming conditions to reduce this background, we report these observables fully corrected for detector effects and background fluctuations for the first time. A narrowing of the θ_{g} distribution in Pb-Pb collisions compared to pp collisions is seen, which provides direct evidence of the modification of the angular structure of jets in the quark-gluon plasma. No significant modification of the z_{g} distribution in Pb-Pb collisions compared to pp collisions is observed. These results are compared with a variety of theoretical models of jet quenching, and provide constraints on jet energy-loss mechanisms and coherence effects in the quark-gluon plasma.

Abstract
Background Paediatric inflammatory bowel disease (p-IBD) is a chronic and relapsing gastrointestinal disorder of childhood with associated long-term morbidity. Several extraintestinal manifestations (EIMs) are described, the most common being joint pain and/or inflammation. In 1986, Passo et al. were the first to describe the association of arthritis in p-IBD patients. However, since then, data on the epidemiology, patient and disease factors associated with, treatments for, and outcomes of p-IBD associated musculoskeletal (MSK) disease are not well-established. Aims Our study aims to summarize the literature on the epidemiology of MSK EIMs in p-IBD in the era of biologics. Methods A systematic review of the literature was performed. PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, Web of Science Core Collection, and CINAHL databases were searched with relevant keywords. Studies in English published from January 1, 2000 to December 21, 2020 were included. In total, 3893 papers were identified and screening was performed by two independent reviewers (AA, MS). Conflicts were resolved by a third reviewer (EC, RB). Study and population characteristics were recorded. The primary outcomes of interest were MSK symptoms at presentation and their course, method of diagnosis and definitions used for MSK EIMs. Risk of bias assessment was performed using the JBI Critical Appraisal Tools. Results Thirteen studies were included for full review, which were primarily single-centre observational studies with retrospective or cross-sectional design. The method of diagnosis for MSK EIMs varied across the studies, with only 4 studies stating the involvement of a rheumatologist in diagnosis. The definitions also varied, with MSK EIMs such as peripheral arthritis, axial arthritis, enthesopathy, and arthralgia included. Only 7 studies focused on MSK EIMs as their primary outcome, while the remainder reported on all p-IBD associated EIMs. There was a wide range in the prevalence of MSK EIMs from 2–35% (Figure 1). Four studies reported on the therapeutic response of MSK EIMs, and only 3 of those reported on biologic use. Risk of bias demonstrated heterogeneity in the quality of included studies. Conclusions This is the first systematic review of the literature for MSK EIMs in p-IBD. Analysis was limited due to variability in study design and data-reporting methods. Included studies reported prevalence of MSK EIMs, but the ascertainment of MSK EIMs, both method and definition varied with a clear lack in standardization. Our study demonstrates the need for further research of the MSK associations of p-IBD and to explore optimal management to advance care for this group of children. ![]()

JOURNAL OF HAZARDOUS MATERIALS 2022; 423:127006. Abstract
Crystalline rock is one of the host rocks considered for a future deep geological repository for highly active radiotoxic nuclear waste. The safety assessment requires reliable information on the retention behavior of minor actinides. In this work, we applied various spatially resolved techniques to investigate the sorption of Curium onto crystalline rock (granite, gneiss) thin sections from Eibenstock, Germany and Bukov, Czech Republic. We combined Raman-microscopy, calibrated autoradiography and µTRLFS (micro-focus time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy) with vertical scanning interferometry to study in situ the impact of mineralogy and surface roughness on Cm(III) uptake and molecular speciation on the surface. Heterogeneous sorption of Cm(III) on the surface depends primarily on the mineralogy. However, for the same mineral class sorption uptake and strength of Cm(III) increases with growing surface roughness around surface holes or grain boundaries. When competitive sorption between multiple mineral phases occurs, surface roughness becomes the major retention parameter on low sorption uptake minerals. In high surface roughness areas primarily Cm(III) inner-sphere sorption complexation and surface incorporation are prominent and in selected sites formation of stable Cm(III) ternary complexes is observed. Our molecular findings confirm that predictive radionuclide modelling should implement surface roughness as a key parameter in simulations.

Measurement of Prompt D^{0}, Λ_{c}^{+}, and Σ_{c}^{0,++}(2455) Production in Proton-Proton Collisions at sqrt[s]=13 TeV. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2022; 128:012001. Abstract
The p_{T}-differential production cross sections of prompt D^{0}, Λ_{c}^{+}, and Σ_{c}^{0,++}(2455) charmed hadrons are measured at midrapidity (|y|<0.5) in pp collisions at sqrt[s]=13 TeV. This is the first measurement of Σ_{c}^{0,++} production in hadronic collisions. Assuming the same production yield for the three Σ_{c}^{0,+,++} isospin states, the baryon-to-meson cross section ratios Σ_{c}^{0,+,++}/D^{0} and Λ_{c}^{+}/D^{0} are calculated in the transverse momentum (p_{T}) intervals 2<p_{T}<12 and 1<p_{T}<24 GeV/c. Values significantly larger than in e^{+}e^{-} collisions are observed, indicating for the first time that baryon enhancement in hadronic collisions also extends to the Σ_{c}. The feed-down contribution to Λ_{c}^{+} production from Σ_{c}^{0,+,++} is also reported and is found to be larger than in e^{+}e^{-} collisions. The data are compared with predictions from event generators and other phenomenological models, providing a sensitive test of the different charm-hadronization mechanisms implemented in the models.

Long-term outcomes of very-low-birth-weight and low-birth-weight preterm newborns with neonatal seizures: A single-center perspective. Eur J Paediatr Neurol 2022; 36:137-142. [PMID: 34973622 DOI: 10.1016/j.ejpn.2021.12.013] [Citation(s) in RCA: 1] [Impact Index Per Article: 0.5] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Submit a Manuscript] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 05/22/2021] [Revised: 11/17/2021] [Accepted: 12/19/2021] [Indexed: 11/29/2022]
Abstract
OBJECTIVE Newborn seizures are frequent in preterm newborns and indicate brain lesions in many cases. The objective of this observational study was to investigate the long-term outcome of very-low-birth-weight (VLBW) and low-birth-weight (LBW) preterm infants with neonatal seizures. METHODS We examined 54 preterm infants (40 VLBW and 14 LBW cases) born between 2008 and 2011 with clinical seizures during the neonatal period confirmed by interictal or ictal electroencephalography recordings in a retrospective single-center study. Neurodevelopmental follow-up included an expert neurological examination and cognitive testing (Kaufman Assessment Battery for Children) at a mean age of six years. RESULTS The (mean ± standard deviation) gestational ages of the VLBW and LBW infants were 27.2 ± 1.9 weeks and 33.4 ± 1.7 weeks, respectively, and the postnatal age at seizure onset was 13 ± 11 days in VLBW infants and 9 ± 8 days in LBW infants, with a wide range of one to 62 days. LBW infants more frequently developed non-motor seizures (50.0%) than VLBW infants did (25.0%), and higher-grade intracranial hemorrhage was the predominant etiology in the VLBW group (18.0%), while the etiology in the LBW group was more heterogeneous and included central nervous system malformations and genetic syndromes. At the mean age of 6.2 ± 2.0, years, 25/54 patients were assessed and 44.4% of the VLBW group and 71.4% of the LBW group showed intellectual impairment. Infantile cerebral palsy was present in 22% of VLBW and 42.9% of LBW infants, respectively. SIGNIFICANCE The present analysis of long-term neurodevelopmental outcomes of preterm neonates who experienced seizures shows that the risk for intellectual impairment is not limited only to VLBW infants but may significantly affect LBW infants as well. The etiological spectrum differs in relation to gestational age.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Coagulative tumor necrosis (TN) is a potential negative prognostic marker in clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC). Our study assessed the significance of the TN rate in histological specimens in terms of the risk of recurrence in patients after surgical treatment for localized disease. METHODS Our study included 149 subjects surgically treated for ccRCC from 2011 to 2014. Mean postoperative follow-up was 538 days. Presence of TN was assessed by a physician - pathologist in histological specimens. The following findings were described: without necrosis (79 samples), TN rate below 50% (46 samples) and TN rate higher or equal to 50% of the specimen (24 samples). The Kaplan-Meier method, log-rank test and Cox regression analysis were used to evaluate the disease-free survival (DFS). RESULTS Seventeen patients experienced recurrence - with no TN detected in 3, TN rate below 50% in 6 and TN rate above 50% in 8 patients. There was a significant difference in DSF in patients with proven TN compared to patients without TN (HR 3.83; CI95% 1.489.94%; p=0.006; in multivariate analysis: p=0.031). Evaluation according to the proportion of TN showed a significant difference in DFS in patients with the TN rate below or equal to 50% compared to patients without TN (HR 16.27; CI95% 4.0066.15; p=0.0001; in multivariate analysis: p=0.041). The difference of DSF between patients without TN and with the TN rate higher than 50%, and patients with the TN rate below 50% and higher than 50% was not statistically significant. CONCLUSION Our study confirmed TN as a risk factor of disease recurrence. Additionally, a higher TN rate is associated with a significantly higher risk of recurrence.

Abstract
The p_{T}-differential cross sections of prompt charm-strange baryons Ξ_{c}^{0} and Ξ_{c}^{+} were measured at midrapidity (|y|<0.5) in proton-proton (pp) collisions at a center-of-mass energy sqrt[s]=13 TeV with the ALICE detector at the LHC. The Ξ_{c}^{0} baryon was reconstructed via both the semileptonic decay (Ξ^{-}e^{+}ν_{e}) and the hadronic decay (Ξ^{-}π^{+}) channels. The Ξ_{c}^{+} baryon was reconstructed via the hadronic decay (Ξ^{-}π^{+}π^{+}) channel. The branching-fraction ratio BR(Ξ_{c}^{0}→Ξ^{-}e^{+}ν_{e})/BR(Ξ_{c}^{0}→Ξ^{-}π^{+})=1.38±0.14(stat)±0.22(syst) was measured with a total uncertainty reduced by a factor of about 3 with respect to the current world average reported by the Particle Data Group. The transverse momentum (p_{T}) dependence of the Ξ_{c}^{0}- and Ξ_{c}^{+}-baryon production relative to the D^{0} meson and to the Σ_{c}^{0,+,++}- and Λ_{c}^{+}-baryon production are reported. The baryon-to-meson ratio increases toward low p_{T} up to a value of approximately 0.3. The measurements are compared with various models that take different hadronization mechanisms into consideration. The results provide stringent constraints to these theoretical calculations and additional evidence that different processes are involved in charm hadronization in electron-positron (e^{+}e^{-}) and hadronic collisions.

Λ_{c}^{+} Production and Baryon-to-Meson Ratios in pp and p-Pb Collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02 TeV at the LHC. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2021; 127:202301. Abstract
The prompt production of the charm baryon Λ_{c}^{+} and the Λ_{c}^{+}/D^{0} production ratios were measured at midrapidity with the ALICE detector in pp and p-Pb collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02 TeV. These new measurements show a clear decrease of the Λ_{c}^{+}/D^{0} ratio with increasing transverse momentum (p_{T}) in both collision systems in the range 2<p_{T}<12 GeV/c, exhibiting similarities with the light-flavor baryon-to-meson ratios p/π and Λ/K_{S}^{0}. At low p_{T}, predictions that include additional color-reconnection mechanisms beyond the leading-color approximation, assume the existence of additional higher-mass charm-baryon states, or include hadronization via coalescence can describe the data, while predictions driven by charm-quark fragmentation processes measured in e^{+}e^{-} and e^{-}p collisions significantly underestimate the data. The results presented in this Letter provide significant evidence that the established assumption of universality (colliding-system independence) of parton-to-hadron fragmentation is not sufficient to describe charm-baryon production in hadronic collisions at LHC energies.

Abstract
This Letter presents the first experimental evidence of the attractive strong interaction between a proton and a ϕ meson. The result is obtained from two-particle correlations of combined p-ϕ⊕ p[over ¯]-ϕ pairs measured in high-multiplicity pp collisions at sqrt[s]=13 TeV by the ALICE Collaboration. The spin-averaged scattering length and effective range of the p-ϕ interaction are extracted from the fully corrected correlation function employing the Lednický-Lyuboshits approach. In particular, the imaginary part of the scattering length vanishes within uncertainties, indicating that inelastic processes do not play a prominent role for the p-ϕ interaction. These data demonstrate that the interaction is dominated by elastic p-ϕ scattering. Furthermore, an analysis employing phenomenological Gaussian- and Yukawa-type potentials is conducted. Under the assumption of the latter, the N-ϕ coupling constant is found to be g_{N-ϕ}=0.14±0.03(stat)±0.02(syst). This work provides valuable experimental input to accomplish a self-consistent description of the N-ϕ interaction, which is particularly relevant for the more fundamental studies on partial restoration of chiral symmetry in nuclear medium.

Abstract
PURPOSE Five percent of patients with differentiated thyroid cancer are diagnosed with radioiodine refractory relapse in the course of the disease. For isolated or oligometastatic cervical recurrence, resection or another local treatment is recommended. In this study, the impact of surgical treatment of cervical radioiodine refractory 18F-FDG-PET positive relapse of papillary thyroid cancer (PTC) was evaluated. METHODS Patients receiving radioiodine therapy between 2005 and 2015 at the University Hospital of Cologne, Germany, for PTC were screened. The subgroup of patients undergoing surgery during the course of disease after recommendation by a multidisciplinary endocrine team for cervical radioiodine refractory 18F-FDG-PET positive recurrence was identified. Demographics, clinic-pathologic characteristics, oncologic treatment, and outcome were analyzed. RESULTS Thirty (3%) of 969 patients with PTC treated with radioiodine therapy at our institution underwent surgery for radioiodine refractory 18F-FDG-PET positive cervical recurrence during the course of the disease. In eight (26.6%) patients, more than one operation was performed. Sixteen (53%) patients received external beam radiation therapy (EBRT) after surgery. Follow-up was on average, 79.2 ± 61.6 months after the last surgical treatment. Biochemical and radiological cure was seen in 12 (40%) patients. Remission was significantly more frequent in younger patients (P = 0.0001) with lymph node rather than soft tissue tumor recurrence (P = 0.004). CONCLUSIONS Surgical treatment of radioiodine refractory 18F-FDG-PET positive cervical recurrence led to biochemical and radiological cure in about 40% of patients in this study. Further data are needed concerning risk stratification of potential subgroups benefitting of surgical approach and the possible role of EBRT after repetitive surgery.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE By means of artificial intelligence, 3D angiography is a novel postprocessing method for 3D imaging of cerebral vessels. Because 3D angiography does not require a mask run like the current standard 3D-DSA, it potentially offers a considerable reduction of the patient radiation dose. Our aim was an assessment of the diagnostic value of 3D angiography for visualization of cerebrovascular pathologies. MATERIALS AND METHODS 3D-DSA data sets of cerebral aneurysms (n CA = 10), AVMs (n AVM = 10), and dural arteriovenous fistulas (dAVFs) (n dAVF = 10) were reconstructed using both conventional and prototype software. Corresponding reconstructions have been analyzed by 2 neuroradiologists in a consensus reading in terms of image quality, injection vessel diameters (vessel diameter [VD] 1/2), vessel geometry index (VGI = VD1/VD2), and specific qualitative/quantitative parameters of AVMs (eg, location, nidus size, feeder, associated aneurysms, drainage, Spetzler-Martin score), dAVFs (eg, fistulous point, main feeder, diameter of the main feeder, drainage), and cerebral aneurysms (location, neck, size). RESULTS In total, 60 volumes have been successfully reconstructed with equivalent image quality. The specific qualitative/quantitative assessment of 3D angiography revealed nearly complete accordance with 3D-DSA in AVMs (eg, mean nidus size3D angiography/3D-DSA= 19.9 [SD, 10.9]/20.2 [SD, 11.2] mm; r = 0.9, P = .001), dAVFs (eg, mean diameter of the main feeder3D angiography/3D-DSA= 2.04 [SD, 0.65]/2.05 [SD, 0.63] mm; r = 0.9, P = .001), and cerebral aneurysms (eg, mean size3D angiography/3D-DSA= 5.17 [SD, 3.4]/5.12 [SD, 3.3] mm; r = 0.9, P = .001). Assessment of the geometry of the injection vessel in 3D angiography data sets did not differ significantly from that of 3D-DSA (vessel geometry indexAVM: r = 0.84, P = .003; vessel geometry indexdAVF: r = 0.82, P = .003; vessel geometry indexCA: r = 0.84, P <.001). CONCLUSIONS In this study, the artificial intelligence-based 3D angiography was a reliable method for visualization of complex cerebrovascular pathologies and showed results comparable with those of 3D-DSA. Thus, 3D angiography is a promising postprocessing method that provides a significant reduction of the patient radiation dose.

Abstract
Victor Capesius (1907-1985) attained sad fame as chief pharmacist in the Auschwitz concentration camp. After the war he outlined himself as a victim of his time and claimed to have been forced into the Waffen-SS as a so-called Romanian "Volksdeutscher" (ethnic German). But does this claim stand up to critical scrutiny? What was his actual role in Auschwitz, how did his life develop in the postwar period, how did he himself evaluate his actions in the Third Reich, and to what extent do self-image and historical facts coincide? These are precisely the questions that this article explores. The study is based on primary sources from various archives. These are supplemented and compared with the existing literature on Capesius, the role of pharmacists in the Third Reich, and the Auschwitz concentration camp.<br/> The analysis shows that Capesius was not only complicit in the criminal acts in the concentration camp, but directly involved in the systematic killing of thousands of Jewish people - among other things, by dispensing Zyklon B and phenol and by the lethal selection of people at the ramp. The alleged compulsion to join the Waffen-SS, on the other hand, cannot be substantiated. After 1945, Capesius was imprisoned twice by the Allies, but only charged in the first Auschwitz trial in the 1960s. Despite a guilty verdict, he was released from prison as early as 1968. At the end of his life, Capesius could look back on a successful career as a pharmacist and businessman in Germany. At no time did he come to a self-critical evaluation of his role in the Third Reich.
