Abstract
The current study aimed to clarify the role of nucleolin in the phenotypic transformation of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) and to preliminarily explore its underlying mechanism. The spatial and temporal expression patterns of nucleolin, and the effects of angiotensin II (Ang II) on the expression of VSMC phenotypic transformation markers, α‑smooth muscle‑actin, calponin, smooth muscle protein 22α and osteopontin were investigated. The effects of nucleolin on VSMC phenotypic transformation and the expression of phenotypic transformation‑associated genes, tropoelastin, epiregulin and fibroblast growth factor 2 (b‑FGF), were determined. Protein‑RNA co‑immunoprecipitation was used to investigate the potential target genes regulated by the nucleolin in phenotypic transformation of VSMCs. Finally, the stability of tropoelastin mRNA and the effects of nucleolin on the expression of tropoelastin were assayed. The results revealed that Ang II significantly promoted the phenotypic transformation of VSMCs. The expression of nucleolin was gradually upregulated in VSMCs treated with Ang II at different concentrations for various durations. Ang II induced nucleolin translocation from the nucleus to cytoplasm. Additionally, Ang II significantly promoted the phenotypic transformation of VSMCs. Overexpression and silencing of nucleolin regulated the expressions of tropoelastin, epiregulin and b‑FGF. There was an interaction between tropoelastin mRNA and nucleolin protein, promoting the stability of tropoelastin mRNA and enhancing the expression of tropoelastin at the protein level. Upregulation of nucleolin had an important role in Ang II‑induced VSMC phenotypic transformation, and its underlying mechanism may be through interacting with tropoelastin mRNA, leading to its increased stability and protein expression. The findings provide a new perspective into the regulatory mechanism of VSMC phenotypic transformation.

Abstract
Through market investigation, the adulteration of Zaocys dhumnades on markets was found out, and samples of authentic and adulterated Z. dhumnades on markets were collected. The origin and properties of the adulterated Z. dhumnades were studied in order to provide reference for the identification of Z. dhumnades. The counterfeit Z. dhumnades sold on markets were as follows: Ptyas korros, P. mucosus, Najanaja atra, Sinonatrix annularis, Dinodon septentrionalis, etc. It is found that there existed a obvious difference between the traits of the Z. dhumnades and counterfeits. Genuine Z. dhumnades with "sword ridge" "iron tail", strongly ribbed scales and other features, is the key point to identify the difference from adulterants.

Abstract
BACKGROUND RING finger protein 38 (RNF38), a member of the RNF protein family, has just emerged as a vital driver of cancer progression. However, the oncogenic mechanisms of RNF38 remain unexplored. METHODS Using frozen tumor tissue and tissue microarray from hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients, we tried to probe the expression of RNF38 in HCC and its clinical value. Then the biological functions of RNF38 were analyzed in vivo and vitro. Stable isotope labeling with amino acids (SILAC) in cell culture and co-immunoprecipitation proteomic analyses were combined to reveal the potential mechanism of RNF38 in HCC progression. RESULTS We report that RNF38 expression was markedly higher in HCC tissues than in peritumor tissues. Correspondingly, RNF38 overexpression promoted the HCC cell migration and invasion and inhibited apoptosis both in vitro and in vivo. And elevated RNF38 expression induced HCC cell epithelial-mesenchymal transition by facilitating transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) signaling via ubiquitinating and degrading neuroblast differentiation-associated protein (AHNAK), a well-established inhibitor of TGF-β signaling. Furthermore, AHNAK interference restored the HCC cell invasion and metastasis deprived by RNF38 downregulation. Clinically, elevated RNF38 and transforming growth factor beta receptor 1 (TGFBR1) expression was related to short overall survival (OS) and high cumulative recurrence rates in HCC patients. CONCLUSIONS High levels of RNF38 promote HCC by facilitating TGF-β signaling and are a novel marker for predicting the prognosis of HCC patients and a potential therapeutic target in HCC.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Ring finger proteins (RNFs) were involved in carcinogenesis. Here, we aimed to explore the detailed mechanism of RNF128 in the progression of melanoma. METHODS We reanalyzed several gene expression profiles from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database and obtained the overlapped differential expressed RNF genes. Among them, RNF128 was selected to further explore its expression, the biological significance, and the underlying molecular mechanism, as well as the clinical relevance in melanoma patients. RESULTS RNF128 was found to be significantly downregulated in the selected datasets, which was further verified in our melanoma tissues. Moreover, RNF128 downregulation was shown to correlate with the malignant phenotype of melanoma, and further functional assays demonstrated that low levels of RNF128 promoted melanoma progression via inducing cell epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and the acquisition of stemness. Mechanistically, RNF128 interference activated the Wnt pathway via simultaneously ubiquitinating CD44/cortactin (CTTN), resulting in CD44 and c-Myc transcription, thus revealed that RNF128 participated in a positive feedback of the Wnt pathway-CD44 loop. Clinically, we found that patients expressing low RNF128 and high CD44/CTTN levels had a poor prognosis. CONCLUSION Downregulated RNF128 activates Wnt signaling to induce cellular EMT and stemness by ubiquitinating and degrading CD44/CTTN, and RNF128 is a reliable diagnostic and prognostic biomarker, and a deeper understanding of RNF128 may contribute to the treatment of melanoma.

Abstract
We report the preparation of 1-(1-alkenyl)benzotriazoles from alkenyl (phenyl)iodonium salts and benzotriazole. The reaction offers a simple and convenient route for the stereoselective synthesis of 1-(1-alkenyl)benzotriazoles. In addition, present method is particularly efficient for preparing 1-(1-alkenyl)benzotriazoles with amino-, acyl- and alkoxycarbonyl substituents, which were difficult to prepare by conventional methods.

Abstract
Supervised hashing methods have achieved more promising results than unsupervised ones by leveraging label information to generate compact and accurate hash codes. Most of the prior supervised hashing methods construct an n × n instance-pairwise similarity matrix, where n is the number of training samples. Nevertheless, this kind of similarity matrix results in high memory space cost and makes the optimization time-consuming, which make it unacceptable in many real applications. In addition, most of the methods relax the discrete constraints to solve the optimization problem, which may cause large quantization errors and finally leads to poor performance. To address these limitations, in this paper, we present a novel hashing method, named Discrete Hashing with Multiple Supervision (MSDH). MSDH supervises the hash code learning with both class-wise and instance-class similarity matrices, whose space cost is much less than the instance-pairwise similarity matrix. With multiple supervision information, better hash codes can be learnt. Besides, an iterative optimization algorithm is proposed to directly learn the discrete hash codes instead of relaxing the binary constraints. Experimental results on several widely-used benchmark datasets demonstrate that MSDH outperforms some state-of-the-art methods.

Abstract
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most fatal cancers with common features of invasion and metastasis. Recent evidence indicate that the long noncoding RNA NORAD is a potential oncogene and is significantly upregulated in several cancers. However, the general biological role and clinical value of NORAD in HCC remains unknown. Here, NORAD expression was measured in 29 paired tumor and paratumor tissues via quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qPCR). The effects of NORAD on HCC cell malignant potential were investigated via NORAD overexpression and knockdown both in vitro and in vivo. The mechanism of competitive endogenous RNAs (ceRNAs) was acquired and identified by bioinformatics analyses and luciferase assays. Moreover, the impact of NORAD level on the transforming growth factor β (TGF-β) pathway was further determined by qPCR. We found that HCC tissues had a high level of NORAD compared with the paratumor tissues, and NORAD upregulation was associated with the shorter overall survival of patients with HCC. Furthermore, NORAD overexpression was demonstrated to promote HCC cell migration and invasion. Mechanically, NORAD might function as a ceRNA to regulate miR-202-5p, which served as a tumor-suppressing microRNA via the TGF-β pathway. We address that NORAD has a tumor-promoting effect in HCC and describes a novel mechanism whereby NORAD regulates the TGF-β pathway as a ceRNA of Homo sapiens (hsa)-miR-202-5p.

Abstract
Objective: To survey the conduction and evaluate the effectiveness of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) therapy in pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) in China mainland. Methods: In a questionnaire-based survey, we retrospectively reviewed the application of ECMO in children's hospital and general hospital in China mainland to summarize and analyze the categories of diseases and prognosis of children treated with ECMO therapy. Results: By December 31, 2017, a total of 23 hospitals using ECMO, including 22 tertiary referral hospitals and 1 secondary hospital, among which 16 were children's hospitals and 7 were general hospitals. Thirty-seven ECMO equipment was available. A total of 518 patients treated with ECMO, within whom 323 (62.4%) successfully weaned from ECMO and 262 (50.6%) survived to discharge. Among 375 pediatric patients, 233 (62.1%) were successfully weaned from ECMO and 186 (49.6%) survived to discharge. Among 143 newborn patients, 90 (62.9%) successfully weaned from ECMO, 76 (53.1%) survived to discharge. ECMO was applied in veno-arterial (VA) mode to 501 (96.7%) patients, veno-venous (VV) mode to 14 (2.7%) patients, and VV-VA conversion mode to 3 (0.6%) patients. Sixty-nine patients required extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation (ECPR), including 20 newborn patients (29.0%) and 38 pediatric patients (71.0%), who were all with cardiovascular disease. Neonatal respiratory distress syndrome (26/61), persistent pulmonary hypertension of the newborn (PPHN) (12/61), and meconium aspiration syndrome (MAS) (11/61) are the most common pulmonary diseases in newborn patients; among whom, infants with PPHN had highest survival rate (10/12), followed by MAS (9/11). Among newborn patients with cardiovascular diseases, those who admitted were after surgery for congenital cardiac disease were the most common (54/82), while those with septic shock had the highest survival rate (2/3). In pediatric pulmonary diseases, acute respiratory distress syndrome was the most common (42/93), while plastic bronchitis was with the highest survival rate (4/4), followed by viral pneumonia (13/16). Among pediatric cardiovascular diseases, congenital cardiac defect was the most common (124/282), while fulminant myocarditis had the highest survival rate (54/77). Conclusion: The application of ECMO as a rescue therapy for children with severe cardiopulmonary failure has dramatically developed in China mainland.

Abstract
The dysregulation of circular RNA (circRNA) expression is involved in the progression of several cancers, including non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). However, the role and underlying molecular mechanisms of circRNA FGFR3 (circFGFR3) in NSCLC progression remains unknown. Here, we used quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction to validate that circFGFR3 expression was higher in NSCLC tissues than in the paratumor tissues. Furthermore, our study indicated that the forced circFGFR3 expression promoted NSCLC cell invasion and proliferation. Mechanistically, we found that circFGFR3 promoted NSCLC cell invasion and proliferation via competitively combining with miR-22-3p to facilitate the galectin-1 (Gal-1), p-AKT, and p-ERK1/2 expressions. Clinically, we revealed that the high circFGFR3 expression correlates with the poor clinical outcomes in patients with NSCLC. Together, these data provide mechanistic insights into the circFGFR3-mediated regulation of both the AKT and ERK1/2 signaling pathways by sponging miR-22-3p and increasing Gal-1 expression.

Abstract
Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been implicated in numerous physiological and pathological processes, including cancer development and progression. However, the role and molecular mechanism of lncRNAs in resistance to chemotherapy of colorectal cancer (CRC) remain enigmatic. Here, we found that lncRNA small Cajal body-specific RNA 2 (SCARNA2) is expressed higher in CRC tissues than in adjacent normal tissues, and a robust expression of SCARNA2 is correlated with a bad prognosis of CRC patients after surgery. SCARNA2 overexpression significantly promoted chemoresistance in CRC cells, and downregulation of SCARNA2 obviously inhibited chemoresistance in vitro. SCARNA2 promotes chemotherapy resistance via competitively binding miR-342-3p to facilitate epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and B-cell lymphoma 2 (BCL2) expression in CRC cells. Together, our results reveal a novel pathway that SCARNA2 regulates CRC chemoresistance through targeting miR-342-3p-EGFR/BCL2 pathway, providing a promising therapeutic target for CRC.

Abstract
Fructose-1,6-bisphosphatase (FBP1), one of the rate-limiting gluconeogenic enzymes, plays critical roles in several cancers and is treated as a tumour suppressor. However, its role in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is unclear. Here, we demonstrated that FBP1 was significantly inhibited during Snail-induced epithelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT) and tissues in HCC. Restoration of FBP1 expression in HCC cancer cells suppressed EMT phenotype, tumour migration and tumour growth induced by Snail overexpression in SMMC-7721 cells. Gene set enrichment analyses revealed significantly enriched terms, including WNT, Notch, ESC, CSR and PDGF, in the group with high Snail and low FBP1 compared with those with low Snail and high FBP1. Low FBP1 expression was significantly correlated with higher AFP level, satellite nodules, portal vein tumour thrombus, and advanced tumour stage. Survival analyses showed that FBP1 was an independent prognostic factor for overall survival and recurrence-free survival. In conclusion, our study revealed a vital role for FBP1 in Snail-induced EMT and prognostic prediction in HCC.

Abstract
Although recent therapeutic advances based on our understanding of molecular phenomena have prolonged the survival of melanoma patients, the prognosis of melanoma remains dismal and further understanding of the underlying mechanism of melanoma progression is needed. In this study, differential expression analyses revealed that many genes, including AKT1 and CDK2, play important roles in melanoma. Functional analyses of differentially expressed genes (DEGs), obtained from the GEO (Gene Expression Omnibus) database, indicated that high proliferative and metastatic abilities are the main characteristics of melanoma and that the PI3K and MAPK pathways play essential roles in melanoma progression. Among these DEGs, major facilitator superfamily domain-containing 12 (MFSD12) was found to have significantly and specifically upregulated expression in melanoma, and elevated MFSD12 level promoted cell proliferation by promoting cell cycle progression. Mechanistically, MFSD12 upregulation was found to activate PI3K signaling, and a PI3K inhibitor reversed the increase in cell proliferation endowed by MFSD12 upregulation. Clinically, high MFSD12 expression was positively associated with shorter overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS) in melanoma patients, and MFSD12 was an independent prognostic factor for OS and DFS in melanoma patients. Therapeutically, in vivo assays further confirmed that MFSD12 interference inhibited tumor growth and lung metastasis in melanoma. In conclusion, elevated MFSD12 expression promotes melanoma cell proliferation, and MFSD12 is a valuable prognostic biomarker and promising therapeutic target in melanoma.

Abstract
Ginnalin A (also known as acertannin) is one of the most important phenolic compounds of several beverage Acer plants. In this study, it is reported for the first time that ginnalin A is an activator of the Nrf2 signaling pathway in human colon cancer cells. Ginnalin A, isolated from the leaves of Acer tataricum subsp. ginnala, exhibited promising preventive activity against colon cancer cells (HCT116, SW480 and SW620) with IC50 values of 24.8 μM, 22.0 μM and 39.7 μM, respectively. In addition, it significantly reduced the colony formation of these cells. Flow cytometry analysis indicated that ginnalin A suppressed cancer proliferation via the induction of cell cycle arrest at the S-phase. Real time PCR analysis demonstrated that ginnalin A can upregulate the mRNA expression levels of Nrf2-related antioxidant genes Nrf2, HO-1 and NQO1. Western blotting analysis revealed that ginnalin A promoted the Nrf2 nuclear translocation and upregulated the proteins Nrf2, HO-1 and NQO1. Moreover, the upregulation of p62 and the inhibition of Keap1 were also found by Western blotting analysis. Therefore, the activation of the Nrf2 signaling pathway was probably induced through the upregulation of p62 and the inhibition of Keap1.

Abstract
Sorafenib has been demonstrated to be a beneficial treatment for advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Emerging evidence indicates that caspase-1 activation plays a crucial role in HCC progression. However, the relationship between caspase-1 and sorafenib has rarely been reported. In this study, we showed that caspase-1 was essential for lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT). Moreover, sorafenib treatment could inhibit LPS-stimulated caspase-1 overexpression through restricting the nuclear transport of p65, which contributed to inactivation of NF-κB. Co-immunoprecipitation (Co-IP) experiments and immunoblot analysis indicated that sorafenib treatment decreased the SUMOylation of p65 via inhibiting TLR4/stat3/SUMO1 signaling cascades. In conclusion, the results of this study suggest that sorafenib inhibits caspase-1 expression through suppressing the nuclear translocation of p65 and provide new insights into the mechanisms of sorafenib treatment in HCC.

Abstract
Dysregulation of long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) plays important roles in carcinogenesis and tumor progression, including hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Small nucleolar RNA host gene 3 (SNHG3) has been considered as an lncRNA to be associated with a poor prognosis in patients with HCC. Here, we reported that SNHG3 expression was significantly higher in the highly metastatic HCC (HCCLM3) cells compared with the lowly metastatic HCC cells (Hep3B and PLC/PRF/5). Furthermore, forced expression of SNHG3 promoted cell invasion, epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), and sorafenib resistance in HCC. Moreover, SNHG3 overexpression induced HCC cells EMT via miR-128/CD151 cascade activation. Clinically, our data revealed that increased SNHG3 expression is correlated with poor HCC survival outcomes and sorafenib response. These data suggest that SNHG3 may be a novel therapeutic target and a biomarker for predicting response to sorafenib treatment of HCC.

Abstract
Objective: To understand the depressive disorders prevalence and related risk factors among new drug users in a male drug rehabilitation center. Methods: The cross-sectional study was used. A total of 250 new drug users from a male drug rehabilitation center were recruited during March, 2017. The drug users who only use new type of drugs single or use traditional drugs at the same time were collected as the new drug users. Their general information and drug-related information were collected by self-made questionnaire, and depressive disorders and sleep quality information were collected by the self-reported Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) and the self-reported Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index Questionnaire respectively. Logistic regression test was used to establish associations between variables. Results: Of all 250 drug users, the mean age (P(25), P(75)) was 30 (26, 35) years old, and 32.8% (82) had the depressive disorders. The individuals taking drug dose over 0.4 g daily before entering drug rehabilitation center had significantly more risk of the depressive disorders for 3.18 (1.71-5.90) than those not over 0.4 g daily.The individuals who bad sleep quality had significantly more risk of the depressive disorders for 6.07 (95%CI:3.31-11.12) than those had good sleep quality.The individuals who were depressive patients before the first drug use for 2.39 (95%CI: 1.12-5.10) than those were not depressive patients before the first drug use. Conclusion: There were a high rate of the depressive disorders among new drug users in the rehabilitation center; In addition, several risk factors including the individuals taking drug dose over 0.4 g daily and bad sleep quality, history of the depressive disorders were negatively associated with depressive disorders.

Abstract
Background: Little knowledge about long non-coding RNAs(lncRNAs) in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) has been acquired. Methods: Next-generation sequencing was applied in 7 cases of NPC tissues and 7 cases of normal tissues in nasopharynx. PLEX, CNCI and CPAT soft-wares were used to predict novel lncRNAs. Real-time Quantitative PCR (qPCR) further validated the data in 20 cases of NPC tissues and 14 cases of normal tissues. Then the cis-regulators and trans-regulators and potential biological functions together with pathways were predicted by Bioinformatics. Results: Totally, 4248 novel lncRNAs were found to be expressed in our samples. And 2192 lncRNAs and 23342 mRNAs were considered to be differentially expressed in NPC. Among the results, 306 lncRNAs and 4599 mRNAs were significantly up-regulated, whereas 204 lncRNAs and 2059 mRNAs were significantly down-regulated, respectively. Moreover, 62 lncRNAs trans-regulated genes were involved in Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection pathway in our study. Jun proto-oncogene (JUN), which was related to a cis-regulator lncRNA RP4-794H19.1, was enriched in cancers and involved in Tumor Necrosis Factor (TNF) signaling pathway, might play a key role in NPC. Conclusion: These findings broadened the lncRNAs landscape of NPC tissues and shed light on the roles of these lncRNAs, which might be conducive to the comprehensive management of NPC.

Abstract
It has been reported that BCL2L10 is abundantly and specifically expressed in adult human and mouse oocytes and played a very important role in oocytes maturation and early embryonic development. This study is to investigate the expression pattern of BCL2L10 in buffalo ovaries and its effect on the in vitro maturation of buffalo oocytes, so as to dissect mechanism of oocytes maturation and provide theoretical guidance for improvement of the in vitro maturation of buffalo oocytes. The results showed that BCL2L10 gene was enriched in ovary and the expression of BCL2L10 was oocyte specific and up-regulated during oocyte maturation. BCL2L10 protein and mRNA were detectable in buffalo early embryos, upregulated at 2-cell to 8-cell stages and down-regulated in the later stages. Knockdown of BCL2L10 by RNA interference resulted in a significant decrease in the maturation rate (33.5%) and cleavage rate (37.52%) of buffalo oocytes coupled with up-regulation of apoptosis-related gene Caspase-9. We concluded that BCL2L10 is a candidate associated with buffalo oocyte maturation.

Abstract
Surgical results for intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) remain unsatisfactory due to the high rate of recurrence. Here, we investigated that the expression and roles of tripartite motif‐containing protein 44 (TRIM44) in human ICCs. Firstly, TRIM44 expression was analyzed in several kinds of cancers by referring to public Oncomine database, and the expressions of TRIM44 mRNA and protein were tested in ICC and corresponding paratumorous tissues. Secondly, functions and mechanisms of TRIM44 in ICC cells were further evaluated by TRIM44 interference and cDNA transfection. Finally, the prognostic role of TRIM44 was assessed by Kaplan–Meier and Cox regression. We found that TRIM44 expression was upregulated in ICC tissues compared with corresponding paratumorous tissues, which were consistent with the results from the public cancer database. Knockdown of TRIM44 repressed the invasion and migration of ICC cells, while increased the ICC cell apoptosis. Additionally, high level of TRIM44 was shown to induce ICC cell epithelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT). Mechanistically, a high level of TRIM44 was found to activate MAPK signaling, and a MEK inhibitor, AZD6244, reversed cell EMT and apoptosis endowed by TRIM44 overexpression. Clinically, TRIM44 expression was positively associated with large tumor size (P = 0.035), lymphatic metastasis (P = 0.008) and poor tumor differentiation (P = 0.036). Importantly, patients in TRIM44high group had shorter overall survival and higher cumulative rate of recurrence than patients in TRIM44low group. Our results suggest elevated TRIM44 promotes ICC development by inducing cell EMT and apoptosis resistance, and TRIM44 is a valuable prognostic biomarker and promising therapeutic target of ICC.

Abstract
The receptor for advanced glycation end products (Rage) is involved in the development of various tumors and acts as an oncogenic protein. Rage is overexpressed in tumors including hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). However, the molecular mechanism of Rage in HCC progression and sorafenib resistance remains unclear. In this study, enhanced Rage expression is highly associated proliferation and contributes to sorafenib resistance. Rage deficiency contributed to autophagy induction through activating AMPK/mTOR signaling pathway, which is important for sorafenib response. Moreover, the interactions between Rage and Rage ligands such as high mobility group box 1 (HMGB1) and s100a4 positively increased Rage expression. Our data indicate that Rage may be a potential target for therapeutic intervention in HCC and biomarker for sorafenib resistance.

Abstract
Objective: To explore the relationship of serum level of homocysteine (Hcy) and insulin resistance with cognitive function in first-episode drug-free schizophrenics. Methods: A total of 80 first-episode drug-free schizophrenics (schizophrenia group) from the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University and 70 healthy individuals (control group) were enrolled.The serum concentration of Hcy was measured by the enzymatic cycling assay, the concentration of serum fast blood-glucose(FPG) by glucose oxidase method and fast insulin (FINS) by electrical chemiluminescence immunoassay.Then insulin resistance index was calculated in the form of HOMA-IR.Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS) was used to evaluate the mental symptoms and Matrics Consensus Cognitive Battery (MCCB) was used to evaluate the cognitive function. Results: (1) The serum level of Hcy in schizophrenia group [(24±6) μmoL/L]was significantly higher than that in control group[(16±4) μmoL/L] (P<0.001). And the serum level of FINS in schizophrenia group [(8.0±2.1) mU/L] was significantly higher than that in control group[(6.0±1.3) mU/L] (P<0.001). The HOMA-IR of schizophrenia group (1.6±0.5) was higher than that of control group (1.3±0.4) (P<0.001). The serum level of Hcy in schizophrenia group had positive correlations with serum FINS level, HOMA-IR and negative symptoms (r=0.365, 0.354 and 0.233, all P<0.05). In comparison with the control group , scores were significantly lower in the seven domains of cognitive function in the schizophrenia group (all P<0.05). (2) In schizophrenia group, the serum level of Hcy had a negative correlation with Information processing rate P points, Attentional facilitating P points , and Verbal learning P points (r=-0.231, -0.339, -0.255, all P<0.05); the serum level of FINS was negatively related to Attentional facilitating P points, Working memory P pointsand Visual memory P points (r=-0.317, -0.309, -0.318, all P<0.05); HOMA-IR had a negative correlation with Attentional facilitating P points, Working memory P points, and Visual memory P points (r=-0.286, -0.224, -0.266, all P<0.05). After the influencing factors were adjusted by multiple regression, the associations of serum Hcy level with Information processing rate P points, Attentional facilitating P points and Verbal learning P points were still evident, and HOMA-IR was still related with Attentional facilitating P points and Visual memory P points (all P<0.05). Conclusion: The increase of serum Hcy and insulin resistance in first-episode schizophrenics, both have some relevance with cognitive dysfunction.

Abstract
Dysregulation of microRNA expression is involved in several pathological activities associated with gastric cancer progression and chemo-resistance. However, the role and molecular mechanisms of miR-363 in the progression and chemo-resistance of gastric cancer remain enigmatic. In this study, we validated that miR-363 expression was higher in gastric cancer tissues than in adjacent normal tissues. Multivariate analysis identifies high levels of miR-363 expression as an independent predictor for postoperative recurrence and lower overall survival. Increased miR-363 expression promotes gastric cancer cell proliferation and chemo-resistance through directly targeting the tumor suppressor F-box and WD repeat domain-containing 7 (FBW7). Clinically, our data reveal that overexpression of miR-363 correlates with the poor survival outcomes in patients with gastric cancer, and docetaxel + cisplatin + 5-FU (DCF) regimen response is impaired in patients with miR-363 overexpression. These data suggest that miR-363 may be a potential therapeutic target for gastric cancer and serve as a biomarker for predicting response to DCF regimen treatment.

Abstract
Recent reports show that B7-H4 is highly expressed in a variety of tumor cells, functions as a negative regulator of T cells and then promotes tumor progression. However, its expression and role in intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) remain unclear. In present study, B7-H4 expression in ICC and peritumoral tissues was determined at the level of mRNA and protein, and its bioactivity in ICC cells was studied after modification of B7-H4 expression. Then, the mechanism related to tumor progression induced by B7-H4 expression in ICC cells was explored. Finally, clinical significance of B7-H4 expression in ICC patients was further analyzed. The results showed that B7-H4 expression in ICC was much higher than that in peritumoral tissues at the level of both mRNA and protein. The high level of B7-H4 in ICC cells induced epithelial-to-mesenchymal transitions and promoted invasion and metastasis of tumor cells through activation of ERK1/2 signaling. The elevated B7-H4 expression was associated with the downregulated Bax, upregulated Bcl-2 expression, and activation of caspase-3. Clinically, high B7-H4 expression in tumor samples was significantly related to malignant phenotype, such as lymph node metastasis, high tumor stage, and poor differentiation. ICC patients with high expression of B7-H4 had shorter overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival. Moreover, the B7-H4 expression was an independent prognostic factor for predicting OS and tumor recurrence of ICC patients after operation. In conclusion, high expression of B7-H4 promotes tumor progression of ICC and may be a novel therapeutic target for ICC patients.

Abstract
Colon cancer is one of the most common digestive tumors. The present study aimed to explore the functional role, as well as the underlying mechanism of long non-coding RNA LINC00261 in colon cancer. Expression of LINC00261 was analyzed in colon cancer cell lines and human normal cell lines. Acquired resistance cell lines were then built and the acquired resistance efficiency was detected by evaluating cell viability. Thereafter, the effects of LINC00261 overexpression on cisplatin-resistant colon cancer cells were measured, as well as cell apoptosis, viability, migration, and invasion. Subsequently, we investigated the interaction of LINC00261 and β-catenin. The results showed that the LINC00261 gene was down-regulated in colon cancer cell lines and tissues, and in cisplatin-resistant cells. LINC00261 overexpression might relieve cisplatin resistance of colon cancer cells via promoting cell apoptosis, and inhibiting cell viability, migration, and invasion. Moreover, LINC00261 might down-regulate nuclear β-catenin through restraining β-catenin from cytoplasm into nuclei or it could also promote β-catenin degradation and inhibit activation of Wnt pathway. Finally, LINC00261 reduced cisplatin resistance of colon cancer in vivo and enhanced the anti-colon cancer effect of cisplatin through reducing tumor volume and weight.

Abstract
Due to their small size, zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles (NPs) are readily absorbed and easily cross biological barriers, which make them promising candidates as diet additives. However, some studies have reported that ZnO NPs cause toxicity; therefore, their safety and potency as diet additives for farm animals should be established. This study was the first to fully evaluate the effects of ZnO NPs on the homeostasis of eight elements in seven organs/tissues. The regulation of element homeostasis was found to be organ specific with no influence on oxidation status, anti-oxidation capability, or organ damage. ZnO NPs may specifically regulate the homeostasis of mineral elements and affect the following correlations: (1) between the element content in each organ and the concentration of Zn used in ZnSO4 or ZnO NP treatments; (2) between ZnO NP and ZnSO4 treatments for the same element in each organ; and (3) between elements (in each organ in ZnSO4 or ZnO NP treatments) in layers' organs/tissues. The use of ZnO NPs as diet additives for animals should be implemented cautiously because, among other uncertainties, they may affect mineral element content.

Abstract
Objective This study aims to investigate the expression and significance of p57kip2 and cyclinD1 in gastric cardia adenocarcinoma (GCA). p57kip2 is a negative regulator in the cell cycle. On the contrary, cyclinD1 is a positive regulator of cell cycle progression. Methods Thirty-two cases of GCA tissues and adjacent non-cancerous tissues were collected for this study. Immunohistochemistry and fluorescence qualitative PCR was used to determine the level of p57kip2 and cyclinD1 in GCA and its adjacent non-cancerous tissues. Furthermore, the correlation between the mRNA/protein and GCA clinical pathologic parameters were analyzed, and the relationship of p57kip2 and cyclinD1 in GCA were also evaluated. Results The expression of p57kip2 significantly lower in GCA (P = 0.036), and there was a significant correlation in the different degrees of differentiation (P < 0.05). Furthermore, median survival time was 41 months for patients with high mRNA expression of p57kip2. This was longer compared to patients with low mRNA expression of P57kip2 (37 months, X2 = 4.788, P = 0.029).The expression of cyclinD1 was significantly higher in GCA(P = 0.002), and was significant correlated to clinical stage(P<0.05). Median survival time was 34 months in patients with high mRNA expression of cyclinD1, which was shorter than in patients with low expression of cyclinD1 mRNA (41 months, X2 = 4.071, P = 0.044). The protein expression of p57kip2 was not correlated to the protein expression of cyclinD1 (P = 0.55). Conclusion The expression of p57kip2 and cyclinD1 are likely to suppress or promote the tumorigenesis and progression of GCA.

Abstract
In this study, the spanwise and chordwise bending stiffness EI of honeybee forewings were measured by a cantilevered bending test. The test results indicate that the spanwise EI of the forewing is two orders of magnitude larger than the chordwise EI. Three structural aspects result in this span-chordwise bending anisotropy: the distribution of resilin patches, the corrugation along the span and the leading edge vein of the venation. It was found that flexion lines formed by resilin patches revealed through fluorescence microscopy promoted the chordwise bending of the forewing during flapping flight. Furthermore, the corrugation of the wing and leading edge veins of the venation, revealed by micro-computed tomography, determines the relatively greater spanwise EI of the forewing. The span-chordwise anisotropy exerts positive structural and aerodynamic influences on the wing. In summary, this study potentially assists researchers in understanding the bending characteristics of insect wings and might be an important reference for the design and manufacture of bio-inspired wings for flapping micro aerial vehicles. Summary: The span-chordwise bending anisotropy is due to the distribution of resilin patches, the corrugation along the span and the leading edge vein of the venation.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To study apoptosis and expression of Caspase 3 and Caspase 4 in temporal lobe neurocytes of refractory human temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE). METHODS The temporal tissue samples were obtained from 30 cases of refractory TLE (TLE group) and 10 cases of brain trauma (contrast group) between January 1993 and May 2008. The surgical specimens were paraffin-embedded samples from Department of Pathology of Fujian Medical University and Department of Neurosurgery, the First Affiliated Hospital of Fujian Medical University. S-P staining of immunohistochemistry was used to detect the expression of Caspase 3 and Caspase 4 in temporal lobe neurocytes of TLE group and contrast group. Their expression was then analyzed. The terminal deoxynucleoitidyl transferase-mediated dUTP nick end labeling (TUNEL) staining was performed to visualize and analyze the neurocytes' apoptosis of two groups. RESULTS The expression of Caspase 3 and Caspase 4 in neurocytes of TLE group were both higher than that of contrast group (t=12.905, P<0.01; t=11.880, P<0.01). The apoptotic index (AI) of neurocytes in TLE group also increased than that of contrast group (t=9.664, P<0.01). CONCLUSION Caspase 3 and Caspase 4 may mediate neurocytes apoptosis in temporal lobe tissue of refractory human TLE.

Abstract
Yan Xishan, the local ruler of Shanxi Province in modern period, claiming that the folk TCM prescriptions should be collected, inspected and maintained because of its definite effect. The government of Shanxi Province provided a lot of resources in collecting TCM proved prescriptions since 1929. The TCM Improving Society of Shanxi made more effort on the inspecting process, with a reasonable incentive system and standardized methods established. As a result, the Shen cha zheng ji yan fang (Inspection of the Collection of TCM Proved Prescriptions) was published, characterized by the principles of "cheap, convenient and effective" . It was the beginning of official collection and collation of TCM proved prescriptions in modern China.

Abstract
Our previous studies revealed that tetraspanin CD151 plays multiple roles in the progression of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) by forming a functional complex with integrin α6β1. Herein, we generated a monoclonal antibody (mAb) that dissociates the CD151/integrin α6β1 complex, and we evaluated its bioactivity in HCCs. A murine mAb, tetraspanin CD151 (IgG1, called CD151 mAb 9B), was successfully generated against the CD151-integrin α6β1 binding site of CD151 extracellular domains. Co-immunoprecipitation using CD151 mAb 9B followed by Western blotting detected a 28 kDa protein. Both immunofluorescent and immunohistochemical staining showed a good reactivity of CD151 mAb 9B in the plasma membrane and cytoplasm of HCC cells, as well as in liver cells. In vitro assays demonstrated that CD151 mAb 9B could inhibit neoangiogenesis and both the mobility and the invasiveness of HCC cells. An in vivo assay showed that CD151 mAb 9B inhibited tumor growth potential and HCC cells metastasis. We successfully produced a CD151 mAb 9B targeting the CD151/integrin α6β1-binding domain, which not only can displayed good reactivity to the CD151 antigen but also prevented tumor progression in HCC.

Abstract
AIMS The prognosis of patients with intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) remains poor in terms of overall survival (OS) and recurrence rate. Mortalin, a stress chaperone, has been reported to be involved in carcinogenesis and metastasis. However, its role in ICC has not been defined. METHODS Mortalin expression in tumour samples from patients with ICC was examined by Western blot and immunohistochemistry, and correlation between its expression and clinicopathological features was assessed. In addition, invasion, migration proliferation and apoptosis, and the expression of epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT)-related markers in ICC cells were assessed after mortalin depletion. Finally, the prognostic significance of mortalin in patients with ICC was further evaluated by Kaplan-Meier and Cox regression analysis. RESULTS We provide evidence that expression of mortalin in human ICC tissues is higher than that in matched peritumoural tissues. The interference of mortalin expression inhibited the proliferation and invasion of ICC cells in vitro. Mechanistically, inhibition of mortalin expression in ICC cells upregulated E-cadherin expression and decreased vimentin and snail expression. Clinically, a high level of mortalin in ICC samples was associated with loss of E-cadherin, and increased expression of vimentin and snail. Patients with ICC and high mortalin expression had a shorter OS and a higher recurrence rate. Multivariate analysis revealed that mortalin overexpression was an independent prognostic indicator for patients with ICC. CONCLUSIONS Mortalin may promote cell proliferation and invasion via induction of EMT of ICC cells. A high level of mortalin may be used as a prognostic biomarker and therapeutic target for patients with ICC.

Abstract
Sanguinarine, a bioactive benzophenanthridine alkaloid extracted from plants of the Papaveraceae family, has shown antitumour effects in multiple cancer cells. But the therapeutic effects and regulatory mechanisms of sanguinatine in gastric cancer (GC) remain elusive. This study was aimed to investigate the correlation of dual‐specificity phosphatase 4 (DUSP4) expression with clinicopathologic features and overall survival in patients with GC and explore the effects of sanguinarine on tumour growth and invasion in GC cells (SGC‐7901 and HGC‐27) and underlying molecular mechanisms. Immunohistochemical analysis showed that decreased DUSP4 expression was associated with the sex, tumour size, depth of invasion and distant metastasis in patients with GC. Functional experiments including CCK‐8, Transwell and flow cytometry analysis indicated that sanguinarine or DUSP4 overexpression inhibited GC cell viability and invasive potential, and induced cell apoptosis and cycle arrest in S phase, but DUSP4 knockdown attenuated the antitumour activity of sanguinarine. Further observation demonstrated that sanguinarine up‐regulated the expression of DUSP4 and Bcl‐2‐associated X protein (Bax), but down‐regulated phosphorylated extracellular signal‐regulated kinase (p‐ERK), proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA), matrix metalloproteinase 2 (MMP‐2) and B‐cell lymphoma 2 (Bcl‐2) expression. Taken together, our findings indicate that sanguinarine inhibits growth and invasion of GC cells through regulation of the DUSP4/ERK pathway, suggesting that sanguinarine may have potential for use in GC treatment.

Abstract
MYBA2 transcription factor (Myb-related gene) affects the coloring in grapevine berry and plays an important role in the biosynthesis of anthocyanin. The MYBA2 gene was cloned from Vitis vinifera L. cv. Cabernet Sauvignon and polyclonal antibodies for VvmybA2 were prepared. The VvmybA2 gene expression patterns were observed in seven tissues (the leaf, stem, flower, bud, root, berry, and tendril) and during the berry development stage at transcriptional and translational levels, respectively. The results indicated that the expression of VvmybA2 was approximately 11-fold higher in the berry than that in the other six tissues, and increased rapidly from 60 days after full bloom reaching a maximum on day 80. Furthermore, both the anthocyanin content and UDP-glucose:flavonoid-3-O-glucosyltransferase (UFGT) gene expression levels increased rapidly 60 days after full bloom. Moreover, correlation analysis indicated that the transcriptional and translational expression levels of the VvmybA2 gene were significantly positively correlated with not only UFGT and DFR genes but also with the anthocyanin content during berry development. These results suggested that VvmybA2 could not only regulate the transcription of both UFGT and DFR but also is involved in the expression of the UFGT gene associated with color determination in grape berries.

Abstract
In toroidal magnetic fusion devices, fast-ion D-alpha diagnostic (FIDA) is a powerful method to study the fast-ion feature. The fast-ion characteristics can be inferred from the Doppler shifted spectrum of Dα light according to charge exchange recombination process between fast ions and probe beam. Since conceptual design presented in the last HTPD conference, significant progress has been made to apply FIDA systems on the Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak (EAST). Both co-current and counter-current neutral beam injectors are available, and each can deliver 2-4 MW beam power with 50-80 keV beam energy. Presently, two sets of high throughput spectrometer systems have been installed on EAST, allowing to capture passing and trapped fast-ion characteristics simultaneously, using Kaiser HoloSpec transmission grating spectrometer and Bunkoukeiki FLP-200 volume phase holographic spectrometer coupled with Princeton Instruments ProEM 1024B eXcelon and Andor DU-888 iXon3 1024 CCD camera, respectively. This paper will present the details of the hardware descriptions and experimental spectrum.

Volume recombination plays an important role towards plasma detachment for magnetically confined fusion devices. High quantum number states of the Balmer series of deuterium are used to study recombination. On EAST (Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak), two visible spectroscopic measurements are applied for the upper/lower divertor with 13 channels, respectively. Both systems are coupled with Princeton Instruments ProEM EMCCD 1024B camera: one is equipped on an Acton SP2750 spectrometer, which has a high spectral resolution ∼0.0049 nm with 2400 gr/mm grating to measure the Dα(Hα) spectral line and with 1200 gr/mm grating to measure deuterium molecular Fulcher band emissions and another is equipped on IsoPlane SCT320 using 600 gr/mm to measure high-n Balmer series emission lines, allowing us to study volume recombination on EAST and to obtain the related line averaged plasma parameters (Te, ne) during EAST detached phases. This paper will present the details of the measurements and the characteristics of deuterium Balmer series line emissions during density ramp-up L-mode USN plasma on EAST.

Abstract
A filterscope diagnostic system has been mounted to observe the line emission and visible bremsstrahlung emission from plasma on the experimental advanced superconducting tokamak during the 2014 campaign. By this diagnostic system, multiple wavelengths including Dα (656.1 nm), Dγ (433.9 nm), He ii (468.5 nm), Li i (670.8 nm), Li ii (548.3 nm), C iii (465.0 nm), O ii (441.5 nm), Mo i (386.4 nm), W i (400.9 nm), and visible bremsstrahlung radiation (538.0 nm) are monitored with corresponding wavelength filters. All these multi-channel signals are digitized at up to 200 kHz simultaneously. This diagnostic plays a crucial role in studying edge localized modes and H-mode plasmas, due to the high temporal resolution and spatial resolution that have been designed into it.

Abstract
In modern China, most of the mass organizations of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) were civilian and established by the individuals with self support financially.The TCM Improvement Research Association of Shanxi Province was the first official TCM organization in modern China. For the purpose of ruling and recognition of TCM, Yan Xishan, the chief executive of Shanxi province, gave a full support to its creation, development, and operation of the Association with the military and political officials in the government served as part-time staff members of a few of important position in the Association. The Association was given funding and policy support by official ways. The local administrative departments cooperated with the Association affairs actively. Because of the stable organization and the abundant fund, the TCM Improvement Research Association developed quickly and steadily. As a result, the Association had been playing an important and increasing role in academic research, TCM education, medical and epidemic prevention and so on. It had become one of the great national TCM academic societies with prolonged existence. As an official Association, it was characterized with a dual property: a better foundation for development and little independency.

Abstract
The testicular seminiferous tubules contain Sertoli cells and different types of spermatogenic cells. They provide the microenvironment for spermatogenesis, but the precise molecular mechanism of spermatogenesis is still not well known. Here, we have employed tandem mass tag coupled to LC-MS/MS with the high-throughput quantitative proteomics technology to explore the protein expression from buffalo testicular seminiferous tubules at three different developmental stages (prepuberty, puberty, and postpuberty). The results show 304 differentially expressed proteins with a ≥2-fold change, and bioinformatics analysis indicates that 27 of these may be associated with spermatogenesis. Expression patterns of seven selected proteins were verified via Western blot and quantitative RT-PCR analysis, and further cellular localizations of these proteins by immunohistochemical or immunofluorescence analysis. Taken together, the results provide potential molecular markers of spermatogenesis and provide a rich resource for further studies on male reproduction regulation.

Abstract
A new radial neutron camera system has been developed and operated recently in the HL-2A tokamak to measure the spatial and time resolved 2.5 MeV D-D fusion neutron, enhancing the understanding of the energetic-ion physics. The camera mainly consists of a multichannel collimator, liquid-scintillation detectors, shielding systems, and a data acquisition system. Measurements of the D-D fusion neutrons using the camera have been successfully performed during the 2015 HL-2A experiment campaign. The measurements show that the distribution of the fusion neutrons in the HL-2A plasma has a peaked profile, suggesting that the neutral beam injection beam ions in the plasma have a peaked distribution. It also suggests that the neutrons are primarily produced from beam-target reactions in the plasma core region. The measurement results from the neutron camera are well consistent with the results of both a standard (235)U fission chamber and NUBEAM neutron calculations. In this paper, the new radial neutron camera system on HL-2A and the first experimental results are described.

Abstract
BACKGROUND MicroRNAs (miRNAs) have been proved involved in many tumorigenic behaviors including tumor growth. But, the clinical significance and functions of miRNA-203 in gastric cancer (GC) remain elusive. RESULTS Decreased expression of miRNA-203 was correlated with tumor size, poor prognosis and recurrence in GC patients. Overexpression of miR-203 or knockdown of its target progesterone immunomodulatory binding factor 1 (PIBF1) inhibited GC growth in vitro and in vivo, while miR-203 knockdown promoted GC proliferation. In addition, PIBF1 overexpression attenuated the inhibitory effects of miR-203 on GC growth and enhanced that effect on p-Akt expression. CONCLUSIONS MiR-203 as a tumor biomarker suppresses GC growth through targeting the PIBF1/Akt signaling, suggesting that it may have the important therapeutic potential for the treatment of GC.
