Abstract
Sixty five (65) hypertensive, 91 non-insulin dependent diabetes and 50 matched, healthy controls were examined for the presence of microalbuminuria, using the Micral strip test. Microalbuminuria was observed in 25 per cent of diabetics and 21.54 per cent of hypertensive subjects. None of the controls demonstrated microalbuminuria. Diabetics with microalbuminuria were poorly controlled and demonstrated significantly higher systolic pressure. In hypertensive subjects, microalbuminuria was seen more in patients with severe disease. In both diabetics and hypertensives, presence of microalbuminuria was significantly influenced by the disease duration.

Abstract
Pulmonary parenchymal involvement and mediastinal lymphadenopathy are less common manifestations of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma as compared to Hodgkin's lymphoma. The pattern of pulmonary disease varies with histological type of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. We are presenting an uncommon case of diffuse histiocytic lymphoma having miliary mottling who responded well to chemotherapy.

Abstract
The Free Androgen Index (FAI) was initially proposed as a measure for assessing the circulating testosterone availability in female hirsutism. The extension of its use, by a number of investigators, to males has not been formally justified. An analysis of its derivation from the Law of Mass Action reveals an implied assumption that the binding capacity of sex hormone binding globulin should greatly exceed the concentration of its ligand testosterone. This does not hold in adult males for whom the use of FAI is therefore inappropriate. A comparison of FAI and free-testosterone (determined by centrifugal ultrafiltration) yielded a correlation coefficient (r) of 0.858 for 20 adult females but only 0.435 for 19 adult males.

Abstract
Mothers of 80 children of mild (IQ 50-70) and moderate (IQ 35-49) mental retardation were selected for the present study. A carefully developed home training programme was utilized to train half of the mothers, the other half forming the control group for the study. The experimental and the control groups were matched for age and IQ of the children, and age of the mothers. The women also did not differ significantly on base-line marital adjustment and parental attitude scores and the experienced social burden of the mothers. In the experimental group there was a significant increase in the IQ and improvement in the behaviour of the children and significant improvement in the marital adjustment score, parental attitude and social burden felt by the mothers. There was no significant change in the control group in any of these variables.

Abstract
The 127I Mössbauer spectra of a series of mono- and diaryliodine(III) carboxylates have been recorded at 4.2 K. The observed parameters are shown to be strongly dependent on the primary bonding arrangement about iodine only and the secondary bonding interactions have little or no effect. The crystal and molecular structure of bis(trifluoroacetato)pentafluorophenyliodine(III), (C6F5)I(O2CCF3)2, has been determined. Crystals are triclinic, of space group [Formula: see text], witsh a = 5.732(2) Å, b = 12.127(4) Å, c = 29.658(9) Å, α = 116.53(2)°, β = 98.02(2)°, γ = 117.09(2)°, V = 1482.0(8) Å3, Dc = 2.33 g cm−3 for Z = 4, and R1 = 0.0420 (R2 = 0.0431) for 2722 reflections with I > 3σ(I). The two independent molecules in the asymmetric unit have essentially the same primary geometry about the central iodine, a distorted T-shaped AX3E2 arrangement. Abstract
The compounds trichloroselenium(IV) and trichlorotellurium(IV) sulfonates, MCl3(XSO3) (M = Se and Te; X = CF3, CH3, and p-CH3C6H4), have been prepared and characterized by elemental analysis and infrared spectroscopy. Infrared spectra suggest that the XSO3− group acts as a monodentate ligand in the Se compounds and as a tridentate ligand in the Te compounds. MCl3(CF3SO3) (M = Se and Te) are found to act as CF3SO3− ion acceptors, and compounds (C2H5)4N[MCl3(CF3SO3)2] have been isolated. Some other reactions involving ligand substitution and complex formation have also been investigated. Reactions of potassium tellurate(IV) with trifluoromethane-, methane-, and paratoluenesulfonic acids are seen to yield K2[Te(CF3SO3)6], K2[Te(CH3SO3)6] and K2[TeO(p-CH3C6H4SO3)4], respectively. Keywords: trichloroselenium(IV) sulfonates, trichlorotellurium(IV) sulfonates, tetraethylammonium trichlorobis(trifluoromethanesulfonato)selenate(IV), tetraethylammonium trichlorobis(trifluoromethanesulfonato)tellurate(IV), IR spectra.

Abstract
The compounds seleninyl bis(trifluoromethanesulphonate) (1) and seleninyl bis(acetate) (2) have been prepared and characterized by elemental analysis, ir and Raman spectroscopy, and X-ray crystallography. Crystals of 1 are monoclinic, space group P21/n with a = 12.735(1) Å, b = 5.163(4) Å, c = 16.133(2) Å, β = 96.426(8)°, U = 1054 Å3, Dx = 2.48 g cm−3 for Z = 4, R = 0.038 for 1745 observed reflections with I > 2.5σ(I). Those of 2 are orthorhombic, space group Pcab with a = 6,845(3) Å, b = 8.992(2) Å, c = 23.560(9) Å, U = 1450 Å3Dx = 1.95 g cm−3 for Z = 8, R = 0.074 for 1073 observed reflections with I > 3.0σ(I). The primary geometry of the Se atom in SeO(O3SCF3)2 is AX3E with a Se=O distance of 1.571(3) Å and Se—O bond lengths to the CF3SO3 ligands of 1.902(3) and 1.922(3) Å. Completing the overall coordination geometry of the Se atom are 2 intramolecular and 4 intermolecular Se … O contacts which are less than van der Waals limits. The overall coordination geometry is somewhat irregular since the two triflate anions are significantly differently arranged with respect to the SeO3E tetrahedron. The crystal packing consists of layers of interacting molecules. In 2 there is some disorder. However, the major arrangement of the molecule has Se=O and Se—O(1), Se—O(3) distances to the acetate ligands of lengths 1.575(9), 1.847(7), and 1.831(8) Å respectively. The overall geometry of the Se atom in this compound is completed by two intramolecular secondary Se … O contacts involving the second O atoms of both acetates and two intermolecular contacts involving the seleninyl oxygen atom and atom O(2) of an acetate group in two different symmetry related molecules. Overall, the crystal packing consists of essentially centrosymmetric dimeric units linked together through Se=O—Se bridges. A 1:2 adduct of 1 with pyridine has also been prepared and characterised.

Abstract
Arsenic(III), antimony (III), and bismuth(III) oxides, sodium arsenite and bismuthate react with methanesulfonic anhydride, (CH3)2S2O5, to yield M(SO3CH3)3 (M = As(III), Sb(III), and Bi(III)), Na[AsO(SO3CH3)2], and Na[Bi(SO3CH3)4], respectively, in quantitative yield. Reaction of arsenic(III) oxide with pure methanesulfonic acid yields oxo(methanesulfonato)arsenic(III), AsO(SO3CH3), which behaves as a non-electrolyte in 100% methanesulfonic acid. The compounds have been characterized by elemental analysis, conductance, infrared, 1H nmr and thermal measurements. Their properties have been studied by ligand substitution and complex formation reactions. The M(SO3CH3)3 (M = As(III), Sb(III), and Bi(III)) compounds are capable of functioning both as Lewis acids and bases. These compounds exhibit basic behaviour in 100% methanesulfonic acid. The synthesis of complex mathanesulfonates Cs[M(SO3CH3)4] (M = As(III), Sb(III), and Bi(III)) is also described.

Abstract
The current literature on integration of Leprosy Control work with General Health Services has been reviewed. In view of the introduction of Multipurpose Workers' Scheme and an experience in a pilot project, the authors feel that the time of integration of leprosy is ripe. The process of involvement of Multipurpose Workers in the Leprosy Control Programme is being introduced in a manner that ensures adequate supervision by the present Leprosy Control staff during the training period and also subsequently for one year so that the transition from unipurpose to integrated service, is a smooth one. After the successful integration of leprosy, the leprosy staff, after adequate training, can be used as Multipurpose Supervisors.
