Abstract
Crystals of metal hexachlorides Cs2MCl6 (M = Hf or Zr) have recently emerged as promising materials for scintillation applications due to their excellent energy resolution. In this work, we investigated the crystal structure and scintillation properties of Cs2HfCl6 and Cs2ZrCl6 crystals in the broad temperature range from 9 to 300 K. X-ray diffraction data confirmed the same cubic structure (space group Fm3m) for Cs2HfCl6 and Cs2ZrCl6 over the entire examined temperature range. The room temperature scintillation light yield of Cs2HfCl6 excited with a 137Cs γ-source is measured to be 24 800 photons per MeV, while Cs2ZrCl6 exhibits 33 900 photons per MeV resulting in energy resolutions of 5.3% and 4.5%, respectively. The alpha-to-beta ratio determined at room temperature for 5.5 MeV α-particles from an 241Am source is equal to 0.39 for Cs2HfCl6 and 0.35 for Cs2ZrCl6. The measurements of scintillation decay curves revealed complex kinetics due to delayed recombination processes. A tangible enhancement of the scintillation yield with heating is observed in the 125-150 K range. This effect is a manifestation of negative thermal quenching explained by thermal activation of trapped carriers. A model of the emission centre is proposed that consistently explains the observed changes of emission intensity with temperature in the crystals under study.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To explore the effect of inhibiting polyribonucleotide nucleotidyl-transferase 1 (PNPT1) on oxygen-glucose deprivation (OGD)-induced apoptosis of mouse atrial myocytes. METHODS Cultured mouse atrial myocytes (HL-1 cells) with or without OGD were transfected with PNPT1-siRNA or a negative control siRNA (NC-siRNA group), and the cell survival rate was detected using CCK-8 assay. The expression levels of ACTB and TUBA mRNA were detected with qPCR, and the protein expression of PNPT1 was detected with Western blotting. The apoptosis rate of the treated cells was determined with flow cytometry, the mitochondrial membrane potential was detected using JC-1 kit, and the mitochondrial morphology was observed using transmission electron microscope. RESULTS With the extension of OGD time, the protein expression levels of PNPT1 increased progressively in the cytoplasm of HL-1 cells (P < 0.05). Transfection with PNPT1-siRNA significantly reduced PNPT1 expression in HL-1 cells (P < 0.05). Exposure to OGD significantly enhanced degradation of ACTB and TUBA mRNA (P < 0.05) and markedly increased the apoptosis rate of HL-1 cells (P < 0.05), and these changes were significantly inhibited by transfection with PNPT1-siRNA (P < 0.05), which obviously increased mitochondrial membrane potential and improved mitochondrial morphology of HL-1 cells exposed to OGD. CONCLUSION Inhibition of PNPT1 improves mitochondrial damage and reduces degradation of apoptotic-associated mRNAs to alleviate OGD-induced apoptosis of mouse atrial myocyte.

Abstract
We report the first measurement of the parity-violating elastic electron scattering asymmetry on ^{27}Al. The ^{27}Al elastic asymmetry is A_{PV}=2.16±0.11(stat)±0.16(syst) ppm, and was measured at ⟨Q^{2}⟩=0.02357±0.00010 GeV^{2}, ⟨θ_{lab}⟩=7.61°±0.02°, and ⟨E_{lab}⟩=1.157 GeV with the Q_{weak} apparatus at Jefferson Lab. Predictions using a simple Born approximation as well as more sophisticated distorted-wave calculations are in good agreement with this result. From this asymmetry the ^{27}Al neutron radius R_{n}=2.89±0.12 fm was determined using a many-models correlation technique. The corresponding neutron skin thickness R_{n}-R_{p}=-0.04±0.12 fm is small, as expected for a light nucleus with a neutron excess of only 1. This result thus serves as a successful benchmark for electroweak determinations of neutron radii on heavier nuclei. A tree-level approach was used to extract the ^{27}Al weak radius R_{w}=3.00±0.15 fm, and the weak skin thickness R_{wk}-R_{ch}=-0.04±0.15 fm. The weak form factor at this Q^{2} is F_{wk}=0.39±0.04.

Abstract
Understanding gluon density distributions and how they are modified in nuclei are among the most important goals in nuclear physics. In recent years, diffractive vector meson production measured in ultraperipheral collisions (UPCs) at heavy-ion colliders has provided a new tool for probing the gluon density. In this Letter, we report the first measurement of J/ψ photoproduction off the deuteron in UPCs at the center-of-mass energy sqrt[s_{NN}]=200 GeV in d+Au collisions. The differential cross section as a function of momentum transfer -t is measured. In addition, data with a neutron tagged in the deuteron-going zero-degree calorimeter is investigated for the first time, which is found to be consistent with the expectation of incoherent diffractive scattering at low momentum transfer. Theoretical predictions based on the color glass condensate saturation model and the leading twist approximation nuclear shadowing model are compared with the data quantitatively. A better agreement with the saturation model has been observed. With the current measurement, the results are found to be directly sensitive to the gluon density distribution of the deuteron and the deuteron breakup process, which provides insights into the nuclear gluonic structure.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Age and comorbidities increase COVID-19 related in-hospital mortality risk, but the extent by which comorbidities mediate the impact of age remains unknown. METHODS In this multicenter retrospective cohort study with data from 45 Dutch hospitals, 4806 proven COVID-19 patients hospitalized in Dutch hospitals (between February and July 2020) from the CAPACITY-COVID registry were included (age 69[58-77]years, 64% men). The primary outcome was defined as a combination of in-hospital mortality or discharge with palliative care. Logistic regression analysis was performed to analyze the associations between sex, age, and comorbidities with the primary outcome. The effect of comorbidities on the relation of age with the primary outcome was evaluated using mediation analysis. RESULTS In-hospital COVID-19 related mortality occurred in 1108 (23%) patients, 836 (76%) were aged ≥70 years (70+). Both age 70+ and female sex were univariably associated with outcome (odds ratio [OR]4.68, 95%confidence interval [4.02-5.45], OR0.68[0.59-0.79], respectively;both p< 0.001). All comorbidities were univariably associated with outcome (p<0.001), and all but dyslipidemia remained significant after adjustment for age70+ and sex. The impact of comorbidities was attenuated after age-spline adjustment, only leaving female sex, diabetes mellitus (DM), chronic kidney disease (CKD), and chronic pulmonary obstructive disease (COPD) significantly associated (female OR0.65[0.55-0.75], DM OR1.47[1.26-1.72], CKD OR1.61[1.32-1.97], COPD OR1.30[1.07-1.59]). Pre-existing comorbidities in older patients negligibly (<6% in all comorbidities) mediated the association between higher age and outcome. CONCLUSIONS Age is the main determinant of COVID-19 related in-hospital mortality, with negligible mediation effect of pre-existing comorbidities. TRIAL REGISTRATION CAPACITY-COVID ( NCT04325412 ).

Abstract
The chiral magnetic effect (CME) refers to charge separation along a strong magnetic field due to imbalanced chirality of quarks in local parity and charge-parity violating domains in quantum chromodynamics. The experimental measurement of the charge separation is made difficult by the presence of a major background from elliptic azimuthal anisotropy. This background and the CME signal have different sensitivities to the spectator and participant planes, and could thus be determined by measurements with respect to these planes. We report such measurements in Au+Au collisions at a nucleon-nucleon center-of-mass energy of 200 GeV at the Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collider. It is found that the charge separation, with the flow background removed, is consistent with zero in peripheral (large impact parameter) collisions. Some indication of finite CME signals is seen in midcentral (intermediate impact parameter) collisions. Significant residual background effects may, however, still be present.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the protective effect of Echinococcus granulosus hydatid cyst fluid protein (HCFP) on ovalbumin (OVA)-induced allergic rhinitis (AR) in mice. METHODS Twenty-four BALB/c mice at ages of 8 to 10 weeks, each weighing approximately 20 g, were randomly divided into four groups, including groups A (blank control group), B (blank intervention group), C (AR model group) and D (AR+HCFP intervention group), with 6 mice in each group. On days 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12, mice in groups A, B, C and D were injected with 200 μL sterile phosphate buffered saline (PBS), 200 μL sterile PBS containing 20 μg HCFP, 200 μL sterile PBS containing 50 μg OVA and 5 mg Al(OH)3 gel, and 200 μL sterile PBS containing 50 μg OVA, 5 mg Al(OH)3 gel and 20 μg HCFP, respectively. On days 14 to 20, mice in groups A, B, C and D were administered with 40 μL sterile PBS, 40 μL sterile PBS containing 20 μg HCFP, 40 μL sterile PBS containing 2 mg OVA and 40 μL sterile PBS containing 2 mg OVA and 20 μL HCFP by nasal drop, respectively. Mouse behavioral changes were observed and behavioral scores were estimated. The serum levels of interferon-γ (IFN-γ), interleukin-4 (IL-4), IL-5, IL-10, transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) and OVA-specific IgE antibody (OVA-sIgE) were measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), and the pathological changes of mouse nasal mucosa were observed by hematoxylin and eosin (HE) staining. RESULTS The mean behavioral score was significantly greater in Group C (6.83 ± 0.50) than in groups A (1.17 ± 0.52) and B (1.33 ± 0.52) (P < 0.05), while a lower mean behavioral score was estimated in Group D (3.50 ± 0.50) than in Group C (P < 0.05). There were significant differences among the groups in terms of serum IFN-γ (F = 4.08, P < 0.05), IL-4 (F = 275.90, P < 0.05), IL-5 (F = 96.82, P < 0.05), IL-10 (F = 77.67, P < 0.05), TGF-β (F = 9.98, P < 0.05) and OVA-sIgE levels (F = 44.69, P < 0.05). The serum IFN-γ level was significantly lower in Group C than in groups A, B and C (P < 0.05), and the serum levels of IL-4, IL-5 and OVA-sIgE were significantly higher in Group C than in groups A, B and C (P < 0.05), while the serum IL-10 and TGF-β levels were significantly greater in Group D than in Group C (P < 0.05). Microscopy showed apparent loss of nasal mucosa cilia, increased number and enlargement of goblet cells, interstitial edema and submucous vascular dilation in Group C, while the pathological changes of nasal mucosa were alleviated in Group D relative to Group C. CONCLUSIONS E. granulosus HCFP has a protective activity against OVA-induced allergic rhinitis in mice.

Abstract
Abstract
Background
Cirrhosis is a major global health concern with increasing mortality secondary to cirrhosis and chronic liver diseases observed both in the United States and Canada. However, population-level causes of death among patients with cirrhosis in North America have not been reported.
Aims
The aim of this study was to describe cause-specific mortality in patients with cirrhosis stratified by cirrhosis etiology.
Methods
Retrospective cohort study using linked administrative healthcare data from Ontario, Canada. Adult patients with cirrhosis 2000/01/01-2017/12/31 were identified and etiology of liver disease was assigned as hepatitis C (HCV), hepatitis B (HBV), alcohol-associated liver disease (ALD), non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), or autoimmune liver disease (AI)/other using validated algorithms for cirrhosis (sensitivity [sn] 99%, specificity [sp] 79%) and cirrhosis etiology (sn 75%-97%, sp 95%-100%). Patients were followed until death, liver transplant, or end of study. The primary outcome of cause of death was defined based on the top 10 causes of death reported by Statistics Canada; however, hepatocellular carcinoma and cholangiocarcinoma were included in liver-related deaths as opposed to malignant neoplasms. The proportion of deaths by each cause was described, stratified by cirrhosis etiology. The cumulative incidence of death with liver transplant and hepatocellular carcinoma as competing risks were calculated at 1, 5 and 10 years.
Results
202,022 patients with cirrhosis were identified (60% male sex, median age 56 years [IQR 46–67], 52% NAFLD, 26% ALD, 11% HCV, 5% HBV, 6% AI/Other). Overall, 81,428 (40%) patients died after a median follow-up of 5 years (IQR 2–12) and 3,024 (2%) patients received liver transplant. The overall leading cause of death was liver-related (32%) but varied substantially by cirrhosis etiology. Liver-related deaths were highest among those with viral hepatitis (HBV 56%, HCV 52%), and lowest in NAFLD (20%). In NAFLD cirrhosis, the most common causes of death were non-hepatic malignancy (26%), followed by a composite of cardiovascular disease, cerebrovascular disease, or diabetes (22%).
Conclusions
Although the overall leading cause of death in patients with cirrhosis is liver-related, the most common causes of mortality in patients with NAFLD cirrhosis is non-hepatic malignancy, cerebrovascular disease, and diabetes. This supports the involvement of multidisciplinary teams and healthcare providers for patients with NAFLD cirrhosis to optimize appropriate cancer screening and management of co-morbid cardiovascular and metabolic conditions.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To identify the species of trematodes isolated from laying ducks in Nanchang City using morphological and molecular approaches. METHODS Trematodes were isolated from the hepatobiliary duct, gallbladder and large intestine of market-sold laying ducks in Nanchang City. Following morphological characterization, total DNA was extracted from all trematode specimens, and internal transcribed spacer region (ITS) and cytochrome C oxidase subunit 1 (Cox1) genes were amplified using PCR assay and sequenced. Sequence alignment was performed using the Blast software, and homology and phylogenetic analyses were done in the trematode isolates based on ITS and Cox1 gene sequences. RESULTS The morphological characteristics of two trematode isolates from the large intestine of laying ducks were similar to those of Echinostoma revolutum and E. miyagawai, and the morphological characteristics of eight trematode samples isolated from the hepatobiliary duct and gallbladder of laying ducks were similar to those of Amphimerus anatis. The ITS and Cox1 gene sequences of the two trematode isolates from the large intestine of laying ducks had 99.3% and 98.9%-99.4% homology with E. miyagawai, and the phylogenetic analysis showed that two trematode isolates had the closest genetic relationship with E. miyagawai based on ITS and Cox1 gene sequences. The ITS gene sequences of eight trematode isolates from the hepatobiliary duct and gallbladder of laying ducks shared 95.1%-95.5% with Opisthorchis sudarikovi and Clonorchis sinensis, while the Cox1 gene sequences of eight trematode isolates from the hepatobiliary duct and gallbladder of laying ducks shared 86.3%-86.4% and 85.5%-85.7% with O. viverrini and O. sudarikovi. ITS gene sequence-based phylogenetic analysis showed that the duck-derived trematode isolates had the closest genetic relationship with C. sinensis, and Cox1 gene sequence-based phylogenetic analysis showed that the duck-derived trematode isolates had the closest genetic relationship with Metorchis orientalis and O. viverrini. CONCLUSIONS The trematode isolates from the large intestine of laying ducts in Nanchang City may be E. miyagawai, and the trematode isolates from the hepatobiliary duct and gallbladder may be an unidentified trematode species of the family Opisthorchiidae.

Abstract
Rectovaginal fistula (RVF) is a type of anastomotic leakage that may occur after low anterior resection for rectal cancer. The repair of RVF can be challenging because of the scar tissue stenosis and incomplete obstruction. Two patients presented in our department with vaginal faecal discharge almost 7 months after the radical resection of rectal cancer. On vaginal examination, titanium nails related to the rectal surgery were found in the vaginal wall. The patients were diagnosed with RVF. Considering that RVF positions in the patients were high and might adhere to the pelvic tissue, a combined transabdominal-transanal resection and vaginal repair surgery was performed. About 3 months after surgery, both patients underwent colonic closure surgery, with consequent good recovery. A combined transabdominal-transanal approach may provide distinct advantages in surgical repair of difficult cases of RVF.

Abstract
Objective: To compare the efficacy and safety of venetoclax (VEN) combined with azacitidine (AZA) versus CAG regimen combined with decitabine (DAC) in elderly patients with relapsed acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Methods: From January 2018 to August 2020, the clinical data of forty-five elderly patients with relapse AML at the First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University were retrospectively analyzed, including 31 males and 14 females. The median age was 66 (60-80) years old. Eighteen patients were administrated with VEN and AZA, while the other 27 were in CAG with DAC. The complete remission (CR) rate, partial remission (PR) rate, total remission rate (ORR), adverse events and overall survival (OS) were compared between the two groups. Results: At the end of the treatment, the ORR in VEN with AZA group was 77.8% (14/18); including 11 CR and 3 PR. In CAG with DAC group, the ORR was 37.0% (10/27); including 8 CR and 2 PR (P=0.007). Subgroup analysis suggested that VEN with AZA had a higher ORR in patients stratified as intermediate and poor-risk (P=0.013) or with DNA methylation mutations (P=0.007). Main adverse events in both groups were bone marrow suppression, infections, nausea and vomiting, anorexia and fatigue. Grade Ⅲ-Ⅳ cytopenia developed in lower incidence of VEN with AZA group, such as leukopenia (66.7% vs. 100%, P=0.002), anemia (50.0% vs. 92.6%, P=0.002), thrombocytopenia (72.2% vs. 96.3%, P=0.031) and neutropenia (61.1% vs. 92.6%, P=0.014). In addition, less grade Ⅲ-Ⅳ infections occurred in VEN with AZA group (66.7% vs. 33.3%, P=0.028), as well as grade Ⅲ-Ⅳ gastrointestinal events (40.7% vs. 11.1%, P=0.032), grade Ⅲ-Ⅳ fatigue (55.6% vs.11.1%, P=0.003) compared with CAG with DAC group. The 1-year OS in VEN with AZA group versus CAG with DAC group was 42.9% and 31.6% respectively (P=0.150). Conclusion: VEN combined with AZA proves favorable efficacy and tolerablity in elderly patients with relapsed AML.

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the feasibility, robustness and reproducibility of radiomics features derived from lung diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI). Methods: Thirty patients with pulmonary nodules/masses who underwent magnetic resonance imaging examination in the Department of Radiology, the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University, from January 4 2019 to May 5 2019, including 16 males and 14 females, aged from 27 to 69 (57±11) years, were prospectively collected. Planar echo imaging (EPI) -DWI and fast spin-echo (TSE) -DWI scans were performed under free-breathing conditions. Each scan was repeated at an interval of 5 minutes, and the corresponding apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) maps were reconstructed. Each DWI and ADC sequence (a total of eight groups of images) were manually segmented by two radiologists, and a total of 396 radiomics features in 6 categories were extracted from each group of images. Consistency correlation coefficient (CCC) and dynamic range (DR) were used to evaluate the robustness of features between two scans, and stable features were defined as both CCC values and DR values ≥0.85. Intra-observer and interobserver reproducibility were evaluated by intra-group correlation coefficient (ICC), and ICC values≥0.75 was considered to be good reproducibility. Results: Regardless of EPI or TSE technique, the number of robust features extracted fromDWI (TSE: n=197, EPI: n=169) were higher than that of the corresponding ADC (TSE: n=126, EPI: n=148). The proportion of robust features of TSE-DWI、EPI-DWI、TSE-ADC、EPI-ADC was 49.7% (197/396), 42.7% (169/396), 31.8% (126/396) and 37.4% (148/396), respectively. Of the 396 features, 54 (13.6%) of them demonstrated great robustness (CCC and DR≥0.85) and interobserver and interobserver reproducibility (ICC≥0.75) across all sequences. Conclusions: Radiomics features derived from lung DWI showed robustness and reproducibility. Different sequences and different feature clusters have different proportions of stable features, and some features have good robustness and reproducibility between different scans, different observers, and even different sequences.

Search for Lepton-Flavor Violation in Z-Boson Decays with τ Leptons with the ATLAS Detector. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2021; 127:271801. Abstract
A search for lepton-flavor-violating Z→eτ and Z→μτ decays with pp collision data recorded by the ATLAS detector at the LHC is presented. This analysis uses 139 fb^{-1} of Run 2 pp collisions at sqrt[s]=13 TeV and is combined with the results of a similar ATLAS search in the final state in which the τ lepton decays hadronically, using the same data set as well as Run 1 data. The addition of leptonically decaying τ leptons significantly improves the sensitivity reach for Z→ℓτ decays. The Z→ℓτ branching fractions are constrained in this analysis to B(Z→eτ)<7.0×10^{-6} and B(Z→μτ)<7.2×10^{-6} at 95% confidence level. The combination with the previously published analyses sets the strongest constraints to date: B(Z→eτ)<5.0×10^{-6} and B(Z→μτ)<6.5×10^{-6} at 95% confidence level.

Abstract
The first measurements of differential branching fractions of inclusive semileptonic B→X_{u}ℓ^{+}ν_{ℓ} decays are performed using the full Belle data set of 711 fb^{-1} of integrated luminosity at the ϒ(4S) resonance and for ℓ=e, μ. With the availability of these measurements, new avenues for future shape-function model-independent determinations of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element |V_{ub}| can be pursued to gain new insights in the existing tension with respect to exclusive determinations. The differential branching fractions are reported as a function of the lepton energy, the four-momentum-transfer squared, light-cone momenta, the hadronic mass, and the hadronic mass squared. They are obtained by subtracting the backgrounds from semileptonic B→X_{c}ℓ^{+}ν_{ℓ} decays and other processes, and corrected for resolution and acceptance effects.

Abstract
According to first-principle lattice QCD calculations, the transition from quark-gluon plasma to hadronic matter is a smooth crossover in the region μ_{B}≤T_{c}. In this range the ratio, C_{6}/C_{2}, of net-baryon distributions are predicted to be negative. In this Letter, we report the first measurement of the midrapidity net-proton C_{6}/C_{2} from 27, 54.4, and 200 GeV Au+Au collisions at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC). The dependence on collision centrality and kinematic acceptance in (p_{T}, y) are analyzed. While for 27 and 54.4 GeV collisions the C_{6}/C_{2} values are close to zero within uncertainties, it is observed that for 200 GeV collisions, the C_{6}/C_{2} ratio becomes progressively negative from peripheral to central collisions. Transport model calculations without critical dynamics predict mostly positive values except for the most central collisions within uncertainties. These observations seem to favor a smooth crossover in the high-energy nuclear collisions at top RHIC energy.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the effects and mechanisms of allogeneic epidermal stem cells (ESCs) on the survival of allogeneic full-thickness skin grafts in nude mice with full-thickness skin defect wounds. Methods: Experimental research methods were applied. Primary ESCs that appeared paving stone-like after being cultured for 7 d were obtained by enzymatic digestion method from one 4-week-old male BALB/c-NU nude mouse (the same strain, age, and sex below). The cells of third passage were identified by flow cytometry to positively express ESC marker CD44 and negatively express CD45, meanwhile, the positive expression of ESC markers of p63 and integrin 6α, and negative expression of CD71 were identified by immunofluorescence method. The ESCs of third passage in the logarithmic growth phase were used for the following experiments. Twenty-six nude mice were equally divided into phosphate buffered saline (PBS) group and ESCs group according to the random number table. A full-thickness skin defect wound was made on the back of each nude mouse, and then the wounds of the two groups were sprayed with equal volumes of PBS and ESCs, respectively. The wounds were transplanted with full-thickness skin grafts cut from the backs of 4 other nude mice. Each ten nude mice from the two groups were selected, the wound healing and skin survival on post surgery day (PSD) 0 (immediately), 3, 7, 14, and 21 were observed, and the survival ratio and shrinkage rate of skin grafts on PSD 3, 7, 14, and 21 were calculated (the number of sample was the number of surviving skin grafts at each time point); the blood perfusion in the skin grafts on PSD 3, 7, and 14 was detected by the laser speckle blood flow imager, and the blood flow ratio of nude mice skin grafts in ESCs group to PBS group at each time point was calculated (the number of sample was the pair number of surviving skin grafts in group pairing at each time point). The skin graft tissue of each 3 nude mice remained in the two groups were collected on PSD 7, and the mRNA expressions and protein expressions of tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α), interleukin 8 (IL-8), IL-10, type Ⅰ collagen, type Ⅲ collagen, and matrix metalloproteinase 9 (MMP-9) in the tissue were detected by real-time fluorescent quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction and Western blotting, respectively. Data were statistically analyzed with Log-rank test, analysis of variance for repeated measurement, one-way analysis of variance, independent sample t test, and Bonferroni correction. Results: Taking the condition on PSD 0 as a reference, the wounds of nude mice in the two groups healed gradually on PSD 3, 7, 14, and 21, and the shrinkage of skin grafts was gradually obvious. Among them, the shrinkage healing of wound of nude mice in PBS group was more significant than that in ESCs group. On PSD 3, the skin graft of 1 nude mouse failed in ESCs group, while the skin graft of 3 nude mice failed in PBS group. On PSD 7, the skin graft of another nude mouse failed in PBS group. The survival ratio of skin grafts of nude mice in the two groups was similar on PSD 3, 7, 14, and 21 (P>0.05). On PSD 3, 7, 14, and 21, the shrinkage rates of skin grafts of nude mice in ESCs group were (9.2±0.4)%, (19.7±1.2)%, (53.6±3.5)%, and (62.2±5.1)%, respectively, which was significantly lower than (11.0±0.9)%, (47.8±2.8)%, (86.1±7.1)%, and (89.7±9.0)% in PBS group (t=5.719, 26.650, 11.940, 7.617, P<0.01). On PSD 3, 7, and 14, blood perfusion signals were observed in the skin grafts of nude mice in the two groups. The average blood perfusion ratios of the skin grafts of nude mice in ESCs group to PBS group were greater than 1, and there was no statistically significant difference in the overall comparison of 3 time points (P>0.05). On PSD 7, compared with those of PBS group, the mRNA and protein expressions of TNF-α, IL-8, type Ⅰ collagen, and type Ⅲ collagen in the skin graft tissue of nude mice in ESCs group were significantly reduced, while the mRNA and protein expressions of IL-10 and MMP-9 in the skin graft tissue of nude mice in ESCs group were significantly increased (in mRNA comparison, t=2.823, 2.934, 2.845, 2.860, 3.877, 2.916, P<0.05). Conclusions: Allogeneic ESCs can reduce the shrinkage of allogeneic full-thickness skin grafts transplanted on full-thickness skin defect wounds in nude mice, promote the formation of new blood vessels between the skin graft and the wound, reduce inflammation and collagen protein expression, and promote the expression of MMP-9, thus improving the survival quality of skin grafts.

Abstract
Losheng Sanatorium, as a prophylactic-therapeutic institution for isolation, treatment, rehabilitation and social control of leprosy patients, was established by the Japanese colonial government in Taiwan in 1930. Losheng Sanatorium effectively carried out the compulsory isolation of leprosy patients, under the assistance of the public medical system with the help of police and the Bao-Jia management in the Japanese colonial period in Taiwan. Losheng sanatorium imported DDS, a therapeutic drug for leprosy, popularised an outpatient treatment model of leprosy, and developed mobile medical services after the Second World War. Losheng detected and treated leprosy patients successfully through the support of special skin clinics in public hospitals and missionary hospitals after Multi-drug Therapy was introduced in Taiwan in 1984. The Department of Health, Executive Yuan of the Taiwan area in commenced administration of Losheng Sanatorium in 1999 transformed it into a community-based general hospital. Losheng sanatorium adopted different control strategies in different historical periods based on the requirements of health, epidemic prevention systems and leprology developments to achieve its goals of leprosy control. The Sanatorium provides an example to understand and further study epidemical control and public health practice in the Taiwan area.

Pericardial adipose tissue-derived leptin promotes myocardial apoptosis in high fat diet-induced obese rats through JAK2/ROS/NKA signaling pathway. Eur Heart J 2021. Abstract
Abstract
Background
Pathophysiologic mechanisms underlying cardiac structural and functional changes in obesity are complex and linked to adipocytokines released from pericardial adipose tissue (PAT) and cardiomyocyte apoptosis. Although leptin is involved in various pathological conditions, its role in paracrine action of pericardial adipose tissue on myocardial apoptosis remains unknown.
Purpose
This study was designed to investigate the role of PAT-derived leptin on myocardial apoptosis in high fat diet-induced obese rats.
Methods and results
Hearts were isolated from lean or high fat diet-induced obese Wistar rats for myocardial remodeling studies. Obese rats had abnormal myocardial structure, diastolic dysfunction, greatly elevated cardiac apoptosis and increased oxidative stress level. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) detected significantly higher than circulating leptin level in PAT of obese, but not lean rats. Western blot and immunohistochemical analyses demonstrated increased leptin receptor density in obese heart. H9c2 rat cardiomyoblasts after exposed to PAT-conditioned medium of obese rats exhibited pronounced reactive oxygen species (ROS)-mediated apoptosis, which was partially reversed by leptin antagonist. Moreover, leptin derived from PAT of obese rats inhibited Na+/K+-ATPase activity of H9c2 cells through stimulating ROS, thereby activating calcium-dependent apoptosis. Pretreatment with specific inhibitors revealed that JAK2/STAT3 and PI3K/Akt signaling pathways was involved in the leptin-induced myocardial apoptosis.
Conclusion
PAT-derived leptin induces myocardial apoptosis in high fat diet-induced obese rats via activating JAK2/STAT3/ROS signaling pathway and inhibiting its downstream Na+/K+-ATPase activity.

Adipose-derived exosomes impairs endothelial transient receptor potential vanilloid 4 channels and elevates blood pressure in abdominal obesity. Eur Heart J 2021. Abstract
Abstract
Aim
Large epidemiological studies have found that abdominal obesity is a strong risk factor for hypertension. Impaired endothelium-dependent vasodilation is a hallmark of obesity-induced hypertension. Adipose-derived exosomes can regulate distant tissues as novel adipokines, providing a new mechanism for cell-cell interactions. However, the effects of adipose-derived exosomes on obesity-induced hypertension are unknown.
Methods
We extracted three adipose-derived exosomes, including high-fat diet (HFD) mouse serum exosome, adipose tissue exosome, and adipose-derived stem cell exosome, and further explored their effects on endothelium-dependent vasodilation in vivo and in vitro.
Results
Impairment of endothelial transient receptor potential vanilloid 4 (TRPV4) channel activity and vasodilation were observed in the arteries from abdominal obesity patients. Ca2+ influx through TRPV4 channels at myoendothelial projections to smooth muscle cells decreases resting blood pressure in nonobese mice, a response that is diminished in HFD mice. Administration of three exosomes elevated blood pressure by promoting artery endothelial barrier permeability, impairing the expression of adherens junctions, and aggravating inflammatory response in vivo and in vitro, accompanied by TRPV4/Ca2+ pathway inhibition.
Conclusions
Impairment of endothelial TRPV4 channels contributes to obesity-induced hypertension and imply that HFD-induced obesity plays a role in blood pressure by aggravating the artery endothelial barrier injury and inflammatory response via adipose-derived exosomes, at least partially, through inhibiting the TRPV4/Ca2+ pathway.

Search for New Phenomena in Final States with Two Leptons and One or No b-Tagged Jets at sqrt[s]=13 TeV Using the ATLAS Detector. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2021; 127:141801. Abstract
A search for new phenomena is presented in final states with two leptons and one or no b-tagged jets. The event selection requires the two leptons to have opposite charge, the same flavor (electrons or muons), and a large invariant mass. The analysis is based on the full run-2 proton-proton collision dataset recorded at a center-of-mass energy of sqrt[s]=13 TeV by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 139 fb^{-1}. No significant deviation from the expected background is observed in the data. Inspired by the B-meson decay anomalies, a four-fermion contact interaction between two quarks (b, s) and two leptons (ee or μμ) is used as a benchmark signal model, which is characterized by the energy scale and coupling, Λ and g_{*}, respectively. Contact interactions with Λ/g_{*} lower than 2.0 (2.4) TeV are excluded for electrons (muons) at the 95% confidence level, still far below the value that is favored by the B-meson decay anomalies. Model-independent limits are set as a function of the minimum dilepton invariant mass, which allow the results to be reinterpreted in various signal scenarios.

A bimodal burst energy distribution of a repeating fast radio burst source. Nature 2021; 598:267-271. Abstract
The event rate, energy distribution and time-domain behaviour of repeating fast radio bursts (FRBs) contain essential information regarding their physical nature and central engine, which are as yet unknown1,2. As the first precisely localized source, FRB 121102 (refs. 3-5) has been extensively observed and shows non-Poisson clustering of bursts over time and a power-law energy distribution6-8. However, the extent of the energy distribution towards the fainter end was not known. Here we report the detection of 1,652 independent bursts with a peak burst rate of 122 h-1, in 59.5 hours spanning 47 days. A peak in the isotropic equivalent energy distribution is found to be approximately 4.8 × 1037 erg at 1.25 GHz, below which the detection of bursts is suppressed. The burst energy distribution is bimodal, and well characterized by a combination of a log-normal function and a generalized Cauchy function. The large number of bursts in hour-long spans allows sensitive periodicity searches between 1 ms and 1,000 s. The non-detection of any periodicity or quasi-periodicity poses challenges for models involving a single rotating compact object. The high burst rate also implies that FRBs must be generated with a high radiative efficiency, disfavouring emission mechanisms with large energy requirements or contrived triggering conditions.

Abstract
Using data samples of 89.5 and 711 fb^{-1} recorded at energies of sqrt[s]=10.52 and 10.58 GeV, respectively, with the Belle detector at the KEKB e^{+}e^{-} collider, we report measurements of branching fractions of semileptonic decays Ξ_{c}^{0}→Ξ^{-}ℓ^{+}ν_{ℓ} (ℓ=e or μ) and the CP-asymmetry parameter of Ξ_{c}^{0}→Ξ^{-}π^{+} decay. The branching fractions are measured to be B(Ξ_{c}^{0}→Ξ^{-}e^{+}ν_{e})=(1.31±0.04±0.07±0.38)% and B(Ξ_{c}^{0}→Ξ^{-}μ^{+}ν_{μ})=(1.27±0.06±0.10±0.37)%, and the decay parameter α_{Ξπ} is measured to be 0.63±0.03±0.01 with much improved precision compared with the current world average. The corresponding ratio B(Ξ_{c}^{0}→Ξ^{-}e^{+}ν_{e})/B(Ξ_{c}^{0}→Ξ^{-}μ^{+}ν_{μ}) is 1.03±0.05±0.07, which is consistent with the expectation of lepton flavor universality. The first measured asymmetry parameter A_{CP}=(α_{Ξ^{-}π^{+}}+α_{Ξ[over ¯]^{+}π^{-}})/(α_{Ξ^{-}π^{+}}-α_{Ξ[over ¯]^{+}π^{-}})=0.024±0.052±0.014 is found to be consistent with zero. The first and the second uncertainties above are statistical and systematic, respectively, while the third ones arise due to the uncertainty of the Ξ_{c}^{0}→Ξ^{-}π^{+} branching fraction.

Abstract
Objective: To analyze the clinical characteristics of chronic total coronary occlusion (CTO) combined with bifurcation lesions and the features of coronary intervention and perioperative complications. Methods: This study adopted retrospective cross-sectional research methods and included 673 patients who underwent interventional therapy for chronic total occlusion in Beijing Anzhen Hospital. According to whether there were side branches (diameter ≥2 mm) within 5 mm before and after the CTO occlusion segment, patients were divided into bifurcation group (337 cases) and non-bifurcation group (336 cases). The measurement data did not conform to the normal distribution and were represented as M (Q1, Q3). The clinical risk factors, coronary angiography characteristics, interventional treatment strategies and perioperative complications were compared between the two groups. Results: The patients in the bifurcation group were 60 (51, 65) years old, and 86.6% (292 cases) were male; the patients in the non-bifurcation group were 60 (52, 66) years old, and 83.0% (279 cases) were male.Coronary artery disease in all patients was mainly multivessel disease, of which three-vessel disease accounted for 59.9% (403 cases) and double-vessel disease accounted for 25.4% (171 cases). The target vessel in the bifurcation group was predominantly left anterior descending artery (62.3%, 210 cases), and the target vessel in the non-bifurcation group was more common in the right coronary artery (56%, 188 cases). The target vessel diameter was larger in the bifurcation group (2.91(2.71, 3.24) mm vs 2.80(2.55, 3.13) mm, P<0.001). Most patients used the antegrade technique (88%, 592 cases), and the use of antegrade technique in the bifurcation group (91.9%, 307 cases) was higher than that in the non-bifurcation group (84.8%, 285 cases) (P=0.012). After CTO-PCI, 72.8% (490 cases) of patients achieved successful angiography. A total of 73 patients (10.8%) had perioperative complications, and there was no statistical difference between the two groups. However, the incidence of perioperative myocardial infarction was higher in the bifurcation group (5.9%, 20 cases) than non-bifurcation group (2.7%, 9 cases) (P=0.038). Conclusions: CTO complicated with bifurcation lesions are very common in clinical practice. Most patients with CTO have multiple coronary artery disease at the same time. The target vessel is more common in the left anterior descending artery, and the diameter of the vessel is larger. It is more common to use antergrade technique, accompanied by more perioperative myocardial infarctions.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE CircRNAs have been proven to be vital during the process of malignant tumors. Their functions in bladder cancer (BCa) process remain largely unclear. This study aims to elucidate the role of circ0041103 in affecting the malignant phenotypes of BCa, and the possible molecular mechanism. PATIENTS AND METHODS Circ0041103 expression levels in BCa tissues and cell lines were detected by quantitative Real Time-Polymerase Chain Reaction (qRT-PCR). The clinical significance of circ0041103 in influencing tumor size, tumor staging and lymphatic metastasis of BCa was analyzed. Regulatory effects of circ0041103 on proliferative and metastatic capacities of T24 and UM-UC-3 cells were examined through functional experiments. The binding target of circ0041103 and its downstream protein were predicted by online bioinformatic tools, which were further confirmed by Dual-Luciferase reporter assay and Pearson correlation test. The role of circ0041103/miR-107/ FOXK1 axis in regulating BCa process was explored by rescue experiments. RESULTS Circ0041103 was abnormally upregulated in BCa tissues and cell lines. Its level was higher in BCa tissues with a larger tumor size, or worse tumor staging, or BCa cases with lymphatic metastasis. Knockdown of circ0041103 inhibited proliferative and metastatic capacities of T24 and UM-UC-3 cells. MiR-107 was the binding target of circ0041103, and FOXK1 was the downstream gene of miR-107. Overexpression of circ0041103 could reverse the inhibited proliferative and metastatic capacities of T24 and UM-UC-3 cells overexpressing miR-107. CONCLUSIONS Circ0041103 is upregulated in BCa and predicts a poor prognosis in BCa. It stimulates BCa cells to proliferate and migrate via the miR-107/FOXK1 axis.

Abstract
Abstract
Background
Although many literatures demonstrated heavy rainfall was associated with an increased risk of acute gastroenteritis via contaminated food and water, we hypothesized there is no association between rainfall and paediatric acute gastroenteritis in a setting with high-standard food and water hygiene.
Methods
Intestinal infection-related hospital admissions data during 1998-2018 for children under 5 years of age in Hong Kong were collected. Meteorological data were collected from the Hong Kong Observatory. A distributed lag nonlinear model was employed to examine the associations between meteorological factors and the risk of hospital admissions due to acute gastroenteritis.
Results
Rainfall did not exhibit a statistically significant association with the risk of paediatric admission due to acute gastroenteritis but low temperature, low and high relative humidity did. The risk was 6.3% higher (95% confidence interval: 0.3% to 12.6%) when temperature was at 15.1oC (i.e. the 5th percentile). The adjusted relative risk was statistically significantly higher when relative humidity was ≤73.0% or ≥ 84.0%.
Conclusions
Text: We suggest rainfall playing a minor role in disease transmission via contaminated food and water in affluent societies like Hong Kong. Instead, we speculate low temperature and humidity extremes have greater impact on transmission through increased stability and infectivity of enteric viruses.
Key messages
Weather plays a minor role in food and water contamination in affluent societies.
Low temperature and humidity extremes might improve survival of enteric viruses.

Abstract
We report on the first measurement of charm-strange meson D_{s}^{±} production at midrapidity in Au+Au collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=200 GeV from the STAR experiment. The yield ratio between strange (D_{s}^{±}) and nonstrange (D^{0}) open-charm mesons is presented and compared to model calculations. A significant enhancement, relative to a pythia simulation of p+p collisions, is observed in the D_{s}^{±}/D^{0} yield ratio in Au+Au collisions over a large range of collision centralities. Model calculations incorporating abundant strange-quark production in the quark-gluon plasma and coalescence hadronization qualitatively reproduce the data. The transverse-momentum integrated yield ratio of D_{s}^{±}/D^{0} at midrapidity is consistent with a prediction from a statistical hadronization model with the parameters constrained by the yields of light and strange hadrons measured at the same collision energy. These results suggest that the coalescence of charm quarks with strange quarks in the quark-gluon plasma plays an important role in D_{s}^{±}-meson production in heavy-ion collisions.

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the cost-effectiveness of anti-tumor associated antigen autoantibody (TAAb) for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) screening in cirrhosis population with chronic hepatitis B (CHB). Methods: A simulated cohort of 40-year-old patients with CHB cirrhosis was established with a sample size of 10 000. Using TAAb screening alone or TAAb and AFP screening in parallel (TAAb + AFP) as the research strategy, and liver ultrasound and AFP screening in parallel (liver ultrasound + AFP) as the control strategy, the decision analysis Markov model was constructed and the model validity was evaluated. The 6-month cycle was simulated using TreeAge Pro 2020 software. Cost and quality-adjusted life years (QALY) were calculated. Incremental cost-effectiveness ratio (ICER) was used to compare the two strategies, and sensitivity analysis was used to evaluate the uncertainty of results. Results: The Markov model had a total of 11 outcomes, of which 7 were natural outcomes and 4 wereclinical intervention outcomes, and the goodness of fit was 0.969. The lifetime screening cost of TAAb+AFP strategy for HCC screening was 249 612 yuan/case, and the QALY per capita was 7.704 years. Compared with liver ultrasound +AFP strategy (247 805 yuan/case), the total health cost increased by 1 807 yuan/case, and the QALY obtained was 0.014. The ICER was 127 635 yuan /QALY. When the TAAb screening fee was higher than 889.552 yuan, or the discount rate was higher than 0.068, or the antiviral treatment compliance was lower than 45.1%, ICER > 212 676 yuan /QALY. When the single TAAb screening fee was 400-600 yuan, the TAAB+AFP strategy had cost effective value. When the willingness to pay was 70 892, 141 784 and 212 676 yuan /QALY, the probability of cost-effectiveness of TAAb+AFP strategy was 70.6%, 75.3% and 77.8%, respectively. Conclusion: It is cost-effective to use TAAb+AFP for early screening of liver cancer in Chinese population with CHB cirrhosis.

Abstract
Objective: To analyze the survival benefits and treatment related toxic effects of simultaneous integrated boost intensity-modulated radiotherapy (SIB-RT) for non-operative esophageal squamous cell carcinoma patients. Methods: The data of 2 132 ESCC patients who were not suitable for surgery or rejected operation, and underwent radical radiotherapy from 2002 to 2016 in 10 hospitals of Jing-Jin-Ji Esophageal and Esophagogastric Cancer Radiotherapy Oncology Group (3JECROG) were analyzed. Among them, 518 (24.3%) cases underwent SIB (SIB group) and 1 614 (75.7%) cases did not receive SIB (No-SIB group). The two groups were matched with 1∶2 according to propensity score matching (PSM) method (caliper value=0.02). After PSM, 515 patients in SIB group and 977 patients in No-SIB group were enrolled. Prognosis and treatment related adverse effects of these two groups were compared and the independent prognostic factor were analyzed. Results: The median follow-up time was 61.7 months. Prior to PSM, the 1-, 3-, and 5-years overall survival (OS) rates of SIB group were 72.2%, 42.8%, 35.5%, while of No-SIB group were 74.3%, 41.4%, 31.9%, respectively (P=0.549). After PSM, the 1-, 3-, and 5-years OS rates of the two groups were 72.5%, 43.4%, 36.4% and 75.3%, 41.7%, 31.6%, respectively (P=0.690). The univariate survival analysis of samples after PSM showed that the lesion location, length, T stage, N stage, TNM stage, simultaneous chemoradiotherapy, gross tumor volume (GTV) and underwent SIB-RT or not were significantly associated with the prognosis of advanced esophageal carcinoma patients who underwent radical radiotherapy (P<0.05). Cox model multivariate regression analysis showed lesion location, TNM stage, GTV and simultaneous chemoradiotherapy were independent prognostic factors of advanced esophageal carcinoma patients who underwent radical radiotherapy (P<0.05). Stratified analysis showed that, in the patients whose GTV volume≤50 cm(3), the median survival time of SIB and No-SIB group was 34.7 and 30.3 months (P=0.155), respectively. In the patients whose GTV volume>50 cm(3), the median survival time of SIB and No-SIB group was 16.1 and 20.1 months (P=0.218). The incidence of radiation esophagitis and radiation pneumonitis above Grade 3 in SIB group were 4.3% and 2.5%, significantly lower than 13.1% and 11% of No-SIB group (P<0.001). Conclusions: The survival benefit of SIB-RT in patients with locally advanced esophageal carcinoma is not inferior to non-SIB-RT, but without more adverse reactions, and shortens the treatment time. SIB-RT can be used as one option of the radical radiotherapy for locally advanced esophageal cancer.
