Search for Λ[over ¯]-Λ Baryon-Number-Violating Oscillations in the Decay J/ψ→pK^{-}Λ[over ¯]+c.c. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2023; 131:121801. Abstract
We report on the first search for Λ[over ¯]-Λ oscillations in the decay J/ψ→pK^{-}Λ[over ¯]+c.c. by analyzing 1.31×10^{9} J/ψ events accumulated with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. The J/ψ events are produced using e^{+}e^{-} collisions at a center of mass energy sqrt[s]=3.097 GeV. No evidence for hyperon oscillations is observed. The upper limit for the oscillation rate of Λ[over ¯] to Λ hyperons is determined to be P(Λ)=[B(J/ψ→pK^{-}Λ+c.c.)/B(J/ψ→pK^{-}Λ[over ¯]+c.c.)]<4.4×10^{-6} corresponding to an oscillation parameter δm_{ΛΛ[over ¯]} of less than 3.8×10^{-18} GeV at the 90% confidence level.

Abstract
In this paper, we focus on the real power sharing and frequency regulation of distributed generators in islanded microgrids with abnormal asynchronous stochastic cyber attacks, which is of great significance to the information security and stable operation of microgrids. Firstly, considering the possible cyber attacks in the communication network, a distributed non-fragile controller with coupled memory delay is proposed according to the nonperiodic sampled-data control. Then, the construction of delay-dependent two-sided looped-functional makes the Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional contain more delay and sampling information and relaxes constraints on free matrices. In addition, based on the enhanced integral inequality technique and the linear convex combination method, a sampling-based consensus protocol is presented to solve the issues of real power sharing and frequency regulation in the islanded microgrids. Finally, to verify the effectiveness and feasibility of the designed control strategy, a modified IEEE 34-bus test system is used for the experiment.

Abstract
In recent years, deep learning super-resolution models for progressive reconstruction have achieved great success. However, these models which refer to multi-resolution analysis basically ignore the information contained in the lower subspaces and do not explore the correlation between features in the wavelet and spatial domain, resulting in not fully utilizing the auxiliary information brought by multi-resolution analysis with multiple domains. Therefore, we propose a super-resolution network based on the wavelet multi-resolution framework (WMRSR) to capture the auxiliary information contained in multiple subspaces and to be aware of the interdependencies between spatial domain and wavelet domain features. Initially, the wavelet multi-resolution input (WMRI) is generated by combining wavelet sub-bands obtained from each subspace through wavelet multi-resolution analysis and the corresponding spatial domain image content, which serves as input to the network. Then, the WMRSR captures the corresponding features from the WMRI in the wavelet domain and spatial domain, respectively, and fuses them adaptively, thus learning fully explored features in multi-resolution and multi-domain. Finally, the high-resolution images are gradually reconstructed in the wavelet multi-resolution framework by our convolution-based wavelet transform module which is suitable for deep neural networks. Extensive experiments conducted on two public datasets demonstrate that our method outperforms other state-of-the-art methods in terms of objective and visual qualities.

First Study of Reaction Ξ^{0}n→Ξ^{-}p Using Ξ^{0}-Nucleus Scattering at an Electron-Positron Collider. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2023; 130:251902. Abstract
Using (1.0087±0.0044)×10^{10} J/ψ events collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII storage ring, the process Ξ^{0}n→Ξ^{-}p is studied, where the Ξ^{0} baryon is produced in the process J/ψ→Ξ^{0}Ξ[over ¯]^{0} and the neutron is a component of the ^{9}Be, ^{12}C, and ^{197}Au nuclei in the beam pipe. A clear signal is observed with a statistical significance of 7.1σ. The cross section of the reaction Ξ^{0}+^{9}Be→Ξ^{-}+p+^{8}Be is determined to be σ(Ξ^{0}+^{9}Be→Ξ^{-}+p+^{8}Be)=(22.1±5.3_{stat}±4.5_{sys}) mb at the Ξ^{0} momentum of 0.818 GeV/c, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. No significant H-dibaryon signal is observed in the Ξ^{-}p final state. This is the first study of hyperon-nucleon interactions in electron-positron collisions and opens up a new direction for such research.

Abstract
Based on electron positron collision data collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage rings, the differential cross sections of inclusive π^{0} and K_{S}^{0} production as a function of hadron momentum, normalized by the total cross section of the e^{+}e^{-}→hadrons process, are measured at six center-of-mass energies from 2.2324 to 3.6710 GeV. Our results, which cover a relative hadron energy range from 0.1 to 0.9, significantly deviate from several theoretical calculations based on existing fragmentation functions.

Abstract
Objective: This cross-sectional investigation aimed to determine the incidence, clinical characteristics, prognosis, and related risk factors of olfactory and gustatory dysfunctions related to infection with the SARS-CoV-2 Omicron strain in mainland China. Methods: Data of patients with SARS-CoV-2 from December 28, 2022, to February 21, 2023, were collected through online and offline questionnaires from 45 tertiary hospitals and one center for disease control and prevention in mainland China. The questionnaire included demographic information, previous health history, smoking and alcohol drinking, SARS-CoV-2 vaccination, olfactory and gustatory function before and after infection, other symptoms after infection, as well as the duration and improvement of olfactory and gustatory dysfunction. The self-reported olfactory and gustatory functions of patients were evaluated using the Olfactory VAS scale and Gustatory VAS scale. Results: A total of 35 566 valid questionnaires were obtained, revealing a high incidence of olfactory and taste dysfunctions related to infection with the SARS-CoV-2 Omicron strain (67.75%). Females(χ2=367.013, P<0.001) and young people(χ2=120.210, P<0.001) were more likely to develop these dysfunctions. Gender(OR=1.564, 95%CI: 1.487-1.645), SARS-CoV-2 vaccination status (OR=1.334, 95%CI: 1.164-1.530), oral health status (OR=0.881, 95%CI: 0.839-0.926), smoking history (OR=1.152, 95%CI=1.080-1.229), and drinking history (OR=0.854, 95%CI: 0.785-0.928) were correlated with the occurrence of olfactory and taste dysfunctions related to SARS-CoV-2(above P<0.001). 44.62% (4 391/9 840) of the patients who had not recovered their sense of smell and taste also suffered from nasal congestion, runny nose, and 32.62% (3 210/9 840) suffered from dry mouth and sore throat. The improvement of olfactory and taste functions was correlated with the persistence of accompanying symptoms(χ2=10.873, P=0.001). The average score of olfactory and taste VAS scale was 8.41 and 8.51 respectively before SARS-CoV-2 infection, but decreased to3.69 and 4.29 respectively after SARS-CoV-2 infection, and recovered to 5.83and 6.55 respectively at the time of the survey. The median duration of olfactory and gustatory dysfunctions was 15 days and 12 days, respectively, with 0.5% (121/24 096) of patients experiencing these dysfunctions for more than 28 days. The overall self-reported improvement rate of smell and taste dysfunctions was 59.16% (14 256/24 096). Gender(OR=0.893, 95%CI: 0.839-0.951), SARS-CoV-2 vaccination status (OR=1.334, 95%CI: 1.164-1.530), history of head and facial trauma(OR=1.180, 95%CI: 1.036-1.344, P=0.013), nose (OR=1.104, 95%CI: 1.042-1.171, P=0.001) and oral (OR=1.162, 95%CI: 1.096-1.233) health status, smoking history(OR=0.765, 95%CI: 0.709-0.825), and the persistence of accompanying symptoms (OR=0.359, 95%CI: 0.332-0.388) were correlated with the recovery of olfactory and taste dysfunctions related to SARS-CoV-2 (above P<0.001 except for the indicated values). Conclusion: The incidence of olfactory and taste dysfunctions related to infection with the SARS-CoV-2 Omicron strain is high in mainland China, with females and young people more likely to develop these dysfunctions. Active and effective intervention measures may be required for cases that persist for a long time. The recovery of olfactory and taste functions is influenced by several factors, including gender, SARS-CoV-2 vaccination status, history of head and facial trauma, nasal and oral health status, smoking history, and persistence of accompanying symptoms.

Liu X, Cai X, Zhu Y. Catalysis Synergism by Atomically Precise Bimetallic Nanoclusters Doped with Heteroatoms. Acc Chem Res 2023. Abstract
ConspectusBimetallic catalysts hold promise in tailoring the catalytic activity and selectivity of transition metals for important chemical processes due to the synergistic coupling between the constituent elements that can connect catalytical active sites. However, it remains a challenge to construct an ideal bimetallic catalyst to study the respective or cooperative effects of the two transition metals within the bimetallic catalyst on the overall catalytic performance because multiple factors are always convoluted, such as the size dispersity of particles, the inhomogeneous structure, and the unknown exact location of the two metal elements in any particle. Therefore, almost all of the current studies give rise to the statistics of the overall catalytic performance from all of the particles in a bimetallic catalyst or at least the observed performance reflects an ensemble average of all metal atoms in a particle. Atomically precise metal nanoclusters have attracted catalysis scientists since their total structures (core plus surface) were solved by single-crystal X-ray crystallography, thereby providing unparalleled opportunities to build a precise correlation of catalyst structures with catalytic properties at an atomic level. Within this field, we are interested in identifying catalytically active sites and further constructing the active sites by an atom-by-atom manipulation, which are typically challenging for conventional particle-based heterogeneous catalysts and organometallics-based complex catalysts. In this Account, we mainly focus on the extensive efforts to fundamentally understand catalysis synergy in bimetallic nanocluster catalysts doped with heterometallic atoms. We first briefly describe the design rules and chemical synthesis of atomically precise bimetallic nanoclusters doped with heteroatoms including co-reduction, atom substitution, and reconstruction as typical synthesis strategies. We then put particular emphasis on the recent research toward the synergistic effects of surface/subsurface heteroatoms of the bimetallic nanoclusters on controlling the catalytic pathways, in which a series of examples showed that catalytically active sites can be dramatically tailored by the metal heteroatoms (Ru, Cu, Ni, Cd, etc.) located on the surface or subsurface of gold nanoclusters. Other cases indicated that the catalytic activity can be driven by surface heteroatom-ligand motifs of bimetallic nanoclusters. We also discuss the remote effects of nonsurface or kernel heteroatoms located in the cores of bimetallic nanoclusters on improving the catalytic reactions directly occurring on the catalyst surface. Finally, we anticipate that the advances in this research field would not only provide in-depth insight into the intraparticle synergism in bimetallic catalysts for understanding and controlling their catalytic reactivity but also provide valuable guidelines for high-performance catalysts that can be applied in industry.

Abstract
Using (10 087±44)×10^{6} J/ψ events collected with the BESIII detector, the radiative hyperon decay Σ^{+}→pγ is studied at an electron-positron collider experiment for the first time. The absolute branching fraction is measured to be (0.996±0.021_{stat}±0.018_{syst})×10^{-3}, which is lower than its world average value by 4.2 standard deviations. Its decay asymmetry parameter is determined to be -0.652±0.056_{stat}±0.020_{syst}. The branching fraction and decay asymmetry parameter are the most precise to date, and the accuracies are improved by 78% and 34%, respectively.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Accurate prediction of cerebral amyloidosis with easily available indicators is urgently needed for diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer's disease (AD). METHODS We examined plasma Aβ42, Aβ40, T-tau, P-tau181, and NfL, with APOE genotypes, cognitive test scores and key demographics in a large Chinese cohort (N = 609, aged 40 to 84 years) covering full AD spectrum. Data-driven integrated computational models were developed to predict brain β-amyloid (Aβ) pathology. RESULTS Our computational models accurately predict brain Aβ positivity (area under the ROC curves (AUC) = 0.94). The results are validated in Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI) cohort. Particularly, the models have the highest prediction power (AUC = 0.97) in mild cognitive impairment (MCI) participants. Three levels of models are designed with different accuracies and complexities. The model which only consists of plasma biomarkers can predict Aβ positivity in amnestic MCI (aMCI) patients with AUC = 0.89. Generally the models perform better in participants without comorbidities or family histories. CONCLUSIONS The innovative integrated models provide opportunity to assess Aβ pathology in a non-invasive and cost-effective way, which might facilitate AD-drug development, early screening, clinical diagnosis and prognosis evaluation.

Abstract
It has become possible to establish a connection between homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis with atomically precise metal clusters. Due to their defined coordination geometry, in this work, atomically precise Pd1 Au8 (PPh3 )8 2+ clusters are exploited to identify the crucial factor that can impact the catalytic efficiency for the Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling process and further gain valuable insight into the exclusive cooperative effect of the central Pd atom and the peripheral Au atoms of the Pd1 Au8 (PPh3 )8 2+ cluster on controlling the cross-coupling reaction. Specifically, a heterogeneous catalyst, namely Pd1 Au8 @Resin, is designed by exchanging positively charged Pd1 Au8 (PPh3 )8 2+ clusters into the porous resin, thereby not only facilitating catalyst recyclability when performed in a batch reactor, but also realizing time-on-stream performance for the Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reaction carried out in a fixed-bed reactor. The integrated advantages of homogeneous complexes and heterogeneous catalysts are expected to advance the usability of atomically precise metal clusters as heterogeneous catalysts for important bond constructions in homogeneous systems.

Measurements of the Electric and Magnetic Form Factors of the Neutron for Timelike Momentum Transfer. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2023; 130:151905. Abstract
We present the first measurements of the electric and magnetic form factors of the neutron in the timelike (positive q^{2}) region as function of four-momentum transfer. We explored the differential cross sections of the reaction e^{+}e^{-}→n[over ¯]n with data collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII accelerator, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 354.6 pb^{-1} in total at twelve center-of-mass energies between sqrt[s]=2.0-2.95 GeV. A relative uncertainty of 18% and 12% for the electric and magnetic form factors, respectively, is achieved at sqrt[s]=2.3935 GeV. Our results are comparable in accuracy to those from electron scattering in the comparable spacelike region of four-momentum transfer. The electromagnetic form factor ratio R_{em}≡|G_{E}|/|G_{M}| is within the uncertainties close to unity. We compare our result on |G_{E}| and |G_{M}| to recent model predictions, and the measurements in the spacelike region to test the analyticity of electromagnetic form factors.

Abstract
Using 4.7 fb^{-1} of e^{+}e^{-} collision data at center-of-mass energies from 4.661 to 4.951 GeV collected by the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, we observe the X(3872) production process e^{+}e^{-}→ωX(3872) for the first time. The significance is 7.8σ, including both the statistical and systematic uncertainties. The e^{+}e^{-}→ωX(3872) Born cross section and the corresponding upper limit at 90% confidence level at each energy point are reported. The line shape of the cross section indicates that the ωX(3872) signals may be from the decays of some nontrivial structures.

Disrupted functional networks within white-matter served as neural features in adolescent patients with conduct disorder. Behav Brain Res 2023; 447:114422. Abstract
BACKGROUND Conduct disorder (CD) has been conceptualized as a psychiatric disorder associated with white-matter (WM) structural abnormalities. Although diffusion tensor imaging could identify WM structural architecture changes, it cannot characterize functional connectivity (FC) within WM. Few studies have focused on disentangling the WM dysfunctions in CD patients by using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). METHODS The resting-state fMRI data were first obtained from both adolescent CD and typically developing (TD) controls. A voxel-based clustering analysis was utilized to identify the large-scale WM FC networks. Then, we examined the disrupted WM network features in CD, and further investigated whether these features could predict the impulsive symptoms in CD using support vector regression prediction model. RESULTS We identified 11 WM functional networks. Compared with TDs, CD patients showed increased FCs between occipital network (ON) and superior temporal network (STN), between orbitofrontal network (OFN) and corona radiate network (CRN), as well as between deep network and CRN. Further, the disrupted FCs between ON and STN and between OFN and CRN were significantly negatively associated with non-planning impulsivity scores in CD. Moreover, the disrupted WM networks could be served as features to predict the motor impulsivity scores in CD. CONCLUSIONS Our results provided further support on the existence of WM functional networks and could extended our knowledge about the WM functional abnormalities related with emotional and perception processing in CD patients from the view of WM dysfunction.

Abstract
The Born cross sections of the process e^{+}e^{-}→D^{*0}D^{*-}π^{+} at center-of-mass energies from 4.189 to 4.951 GeV are measured for the first time. The data samples used correspond to an integrated luminosity of 17.9 fb^{-1} and were collected by the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage ring. Three enhancements around 4.20, 4.47, and 4.67 GeV are visible. The resonances have masses of 4209.6±4.7±5.9 MeV/c^{2}, 4469.1±26.2±3.6 MeV/c^{2}, and 4675.3±29.5±3.5 MeV/c^{2} and widths of 81.6±17.8±9.0 MeV, 246.3±36.7±9.4 MeV, and 218.3±72.9±9.3 MeV, respectively, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. The first and third resonances are consistent with the ψ(4230) and ψ(4660) states, respectively, while the second one is compatible with the ψ(4500) observed in the e^{+}e^{-}→K^{+}K^{-}J/ψ process. These three charmoniumlike ψ states are observed in the e^{+}e^{-}→D^{*0}D^{*-}π^{+} process for the first time.

Abstract
UNLABELLED The relationship between pulmonary function (PF) and bone mineral density (BMD) remains controversial. In the US population, we found a positive association between PF and BMD. Mixed variables such as age, gender, and race may influence this association. INTRODUCTION Based on the data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) from 2007 to 2010, this study explored whether there is a correlation between PF (1st second forceful expiratory volume as a percentage of expected value (FEV1(% predicted)), (one-second rate (FEV1/FVC)), and bone mineral density. METHODS We evaluated the relationship between PF and BMD in 6327 NHANES subjects (mean age 44.51 ± 15.64 years) from 2007 to 2010. The bone mineral density of the whole femur was measured by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA). After adjusting for a wide range of confounders, we examined the relationship between PF and total femur BMD using a multiple linear regression model. RESULTS Correction of race, age, alcohol consumption, body mass index (BMI), height, poor income ratio (PIR), total protein, serum calcium, serum uric acid, cholesterol, serum phosphorus, blood urea nitrogen, FEV1(% predicted), and femur BMD were positively correlated (β = 0.032, 95% CI: 0.010-0.054, P = 0.004). FEV1/FVC was positively correlated with spine BMD (β = 0.275 95%CI: 0.102-0.448, P = 0.002). CONCLUSIONS Our study shows that PF is positively associated with BMD in the US population. A variety of factors such as race and age influence this relationship. the relationship between PF and BMD needs to be further investigated, including specific regulatory mechanisms and confounding factors.

Effect of intermittent theta burst stimulation on suicidal ideation and depressive symptoms in adolescent depression with suicide attempt: A randomized sham-controlled study. [PMID: 36682694 DOI: 10.1016/j.jad.2023.01.061] [Citation(s) in RCA: 5] [Impact Index Per Article: 5.0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Submit a Manuscript] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 11/01/2022] [Revised: 01/04/2023] [Accepted: 01/16/2023] [Indexed: 01/20/2023]
Abstract
BACKGROUND Suicidal ideation is a serious symptom of major depressive disorder (MDD). Intermittent theta burst stimulation (iTBS) is a safe, effective brain stimulation treatment for alleviating suicidal ideation in adults with MDD. This study aimed to examine the clinical efficacy of iTBS on reducing suicidal ideation in adolescent MDD with suicide attempt. METHODS In a randomized, sham-controlled protocol, a total of 10 sessions of iTBS was administrated to the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) in patients once a day for two weeks. The suicidal ideation and depressive symptoms were assessed using Beck Scale for Suicide Ideation-Chinese Version (BSI-CV), Hamilton Rating Scale for Depression (HAMD-24), and Self-rating Depression Scale (SDS) at baseline and after 10 treatment sessions. RESULTS Forty-five patients were randomized assigned to either active iTBS (n = 23) or sham group (n = 22). The suicidal ideation and depressive symptoms of the active iTBS group were significantly ameliorated over 2 weeks of treatment. Further, higher baseline SDS, HAMD-24 and BSI-CV scores in the active iTBS group were associated with greater reductions. LIMITATIONS A larger sample size and double-blinded clinical trial should be conducted to verify the reliability and reproducibility. CONCLUSIONS The current study suggested that daily iTBS of the left DLPFC for 2 weeks could effectively and safely alleviate suicidal ideation and mitigate depression in adolescent MDD, especially for individuals with relatively more severe symptoms. Although caution is warranted, the findings could provide further evidence for the effectiveness and safety of iTBS in clinical practice.

Evidence for the Cusp Effect in η' Decays into ηπ^{0}π^{0}. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2023; 130:081901. Abstract
Using a sample of 4.3×10^{5} η^{'}→ηπ^{0}π^{0} events selected from the ten billion J/ψ event dataset collected with the BESIII detector, we study the decay η^{'}→ηπ^{0}π^{0} within the framework of nonrelativistic effective field theory. Evidence for a structure at π^{+}π^{-} mass threshold is observed in the invariant mass spectrum of π^{0}π^{0} with a statistical significance of around 3.5σ, which is consistent with the cusp effect as predicted by the nonrelativistic effective field theory. After introducing the amplitude for describing the cusp effect, the ππ scattering length combination a_{0}-a_{2} is determined to be 0.226±0.060_{stat}±0.013_{syst}, which is in good agreement with theoretical calculation of 0.2644±0.0051.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Cognitive impairment caused by cerebrovascular disease accounts for more than half of vascular dementia. However, neuropsychological tests are limited by their subjectivity. Additional effective approaches to evaluate cognitive impairment in patients with cerebrovascular disease are necessary. METHOD One hundred and thirty-two patients with cerebrovascular disease were recruited. One hundred participants met the criteria and completed neuropsychological scales. Sixty-nine participants proceeded with polysomnography, and 63 of them had their peripheral blood biomarkers measured. According to Mini-Mental State Examination scores, patients were divided into cognitively impaired and cognitively normal groups. The differences in biomarkers and sleep parameters between the groups were compared, and decision tree models were constructed to evaluate the evaluation ability of these indicators on cognitive decline. RESULTS The integrated decision tree model of sleep parameters yielded an area under curve (AUC) of 0.952 (95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.911-0.993), while that of plasma biomarkers yielded an AUC of 0.872 (95% CI: 0.810-0.935) in the assessment of cognition status. Then the participants were automatically clustered into mild and severe cognitive impairment groups by multiple neuropsychological test results. The integrated plasma biomarker model showed an AUC of 0.928 (95% CI: 0.88-0.977), and the integrated sleep parameter model showed an AUC of 0.851 (95% CI: 0.783-0.919) in the assessment of mild/severe cognitive impairment. DISCUSSION Integrated models which consist of sleep parameters and plasma biomarkers can accurately evaluate dementia status and cognitive impairment in patients with cerebral small vessel disease. This innovative study may facilitate drug development, early screening, clinical diagnosis, and prognosis evaluation of the disease.

Abstract
It remains a significant challenge to construct an integrated catalyst that combines advantages of homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis with clarified mechanism and high performance. Here we show atomically precise CuAg cluster catalysts for CO2 capture and utilization, where two functional units are combined into the clusters: metal and ligand. Due to atomic resolution on total and local structures of such catalysts to be achieved, which disentangles heterogeneous imprecise systems and permits tracing the reaction processes via experiments coupled with theory, site-specific catalysis induced by metal-ligand synergy can be accurately elucidated. The CuAg cluster catalysts exhibit excellent reactivity and recyclability to forge the C-N bonding from CO2 formylation with secondary amines that can make the cluster catalysts more unique compared with typically homogeneous complexes.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Carbapenem-resistant hypervirulent Klebsiella pneumoniae (CR-hvKP) poses serious challenges to public health. Only a few sporadic reports of strains co-producing NDM-1 and KPC-2 (NDM-1-KPC-2-CR-hvKP strains) are available to date. OBJECTIVES This retrospective study investigated the clinical features, prevalence and antibiotic resistance of hvKP in a tertiary hospital in central China, and characterized an NDM-1-KPC-2-CR-hvKP strain (KP169). METHODS Clinical data were collected. Antimicrobial and virulence-associated phenotyping and genotyping, capsular serotype gene analysis and multi-locus sequence typing of hvKP isolates were performed. Whole-genome sequencing (WGS) was performed on strain KP169. RESULTS Forty-five of 109 K. pneumoniae clinical isolates were hvKP. Of these, 37 originated from nosocomial infections and 24 expressed carbapenemases. Eight NDM-1-KPC-2-CR-hvKP strains were identified, and enterobacterial repetitive intergenic consensus polymerase chain reaction showed that they were clonally related. WGS revealed that strain KP169, which belongs to ST11-K64, had a single 5.5-Mb chromosome and six plasmids of 5.5-221.6 kb. The blaNDM-1 gene was located on plasmid pKP169-P3, and blaKPC-2, blaSHV-12 and blaTEM-1 were located on IncFII/IncR pKP169-P2. IncHI 1/IncFIB virulence plasmid pKP169-P1 was similar to pKPC-CR-hvKP-C789 plasmid reported previously. Plasmid stability testing showed that blaKPC-2- and blaNDM-1-harbouring plasmids were maintained stably in the host. CONCLUSION To the best of the authors' knowledge, this study identified the largest cohort, to date, of eight NDM-1-KPC-2-CR-hvKP strains, and suggests that antimicrobial stewardship and protocols to prevent transmission are needed urgently.
