Abstract
Sex hormone secretion difference is one of the main reasons for sexually dimorphic traits in animals, which affects the dimorphism of the intestinal microbiota; however, their interaction is still unknown. Intestinal mucosa-associated microbiota (MAM) and intestinal luminal content microbiota (LM) belong to two different habitats according to the difference in interactions between bacteria and host intestinal epithelium/nutrients. To clarify the sexually dimorphic characteristics of MAM and LM and their correlation with sex hormones, 12 specific pathogen-free (SPF) Kunming mice from the same nest were fed separately according to sex. After 8 weeks, samples from the male intestinal mucosa group (MM group), the female intestinal mucosa group (FM group), the male intestinal content group (MC group), and the female intestinal content group (FC group) were collected and then, the next-generation sequencing of 16S ribosomal ribonucleic acid (rRNA) gene was performed. Our results showed that the sexual dimorphism of MAM was more obvious than that of LM and the relative abundance of Muribaculaceae, Turicibacter, and Parasutterella was significantly higher in the FM group than in the MM group (p < 0.001, p < 0.05, p < 0.05). Next, we measured the level of serum sex hormones in mice and calculated the correlation coefficient between major bacteria and sex hormones. The results showed that the correlation between MAM and sex hormones was more prominent, and finally, three bacterial genera (Muribaculaceae, Turicibacter, and Parasutterella) were obtained, which could better represent the relationship between sexual dimorphism and sex hormones. The abundance of Parasutterella is positively and negatively correlated with estradiol and testosterone (T), respectively, which may be related to the differences in the metabolism of bile acid and glucose. A decrease in the abundance of Turicibacter is closely related to autism. Our results show that the abundance of Turicibacter is negatively and positively correlated with T and estradiol, respectively, which can provide a hint for the prevalence of male autism. In conclusion, it is proposed in our study that intestinal microbiota is probably the biological basis of physiological and pathological differences due to sex, and intestinal MAM can better represent the sexual dimorphism of mice.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To explore the role of P2X7 receptor (P2X7R) in migration and invasion of mouse Lewis lung cancer (LLC) cells and examine the tumorigenic ability of LLC cells in P2X7R-knockout mice. METHODS RT-PCR was used to examine P2X7R mRNA expression in LLC cells. LLC cells were treated with ATP (as a P2X7R agonist) or 2'- 3'- O- (4-benzoyl- benzoyl)-ATP (BzATP) (a P2X7R agonist) with or without pretreatment with P2X7R antagonist oxATP or A438079. The changes in migration and invasive abilities of the cells were evaluated using wound healing assay and Transwell assay; Western blotting was performed to determine the activation level of the key proteins in the AKT signaling pathway. The effects of BzATP, A438079, and LY294002 (a inhibitor of the PI3K/AKT pathway) on migration and invasion of LLC cells were also examined. In wild-type (WT) and P2X7R knockout (P2X7-/-) C57BL/6 mice, the growth of subcutaneous LLC cell xenografts were observed by measuring tumor volume and weight. RESULTS P2X7R expression was detected in LLC cells. Treatment with P2X7R agonist significantly enhanced migration and invasion abilities of LLC cells, and this effect was inhibited by application of P2X7R antagonists (P < 0.001). Western blotting showed that BzATP treatment of LLC cells significantly increased the expression level of p-AKT protein, which was obviously lowered by treatment with P2X7R antagonist (P < 0.01). P2X7R antagonist strongly inhibited BzATP-induced enhancement of LLC cell migration and invasion (P < 0.001). In the tumor- bearing mice, the tumor volume and weight were significantly lower in P2X7-/- mice than in WT mice (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION P2X7R promotes migration and invasion of LLC cells by activating the AKT signaling pathway, and LLC cells show lowered tumorigenic capacity in P2X7-/- mice.

Abstract
Background: Extensive evidence suggests that gut microbiota may interact with the kidneys and play central roles in the pathogenesis of disease. However, the association of gut microbiota-kidneys in diarrhea remains unclear. Methods: A diarrhea mouse model was constructed by combining adenine with Folium sennae. We analyzed the characteristics of the gut content microbiota and short chain fatty acids (SCFAs); and explored the potential link between gut content microbiota, SCFAs, intestinal inflammatory response and kidney function. Results: Characteristic bacteria Lactobacillus intestinalis and Bacteroides acidifaciens were enriched in the gut contents of mice. The productions of SCFAs were remarkably inhibited. Model mice presented an increased trend of creatinine (Cr), interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), a decreased trend of blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and secretory immunoglobulin A (SIgA). The pathological analysis proved obvious damage to the kidney structure. Lactobacillus intestinalis and Bacteroides acidifaciens exisited in the correlations with acetic acid, intestinal inflammatory response and kidney function. Conclusions: Adenine combined with Folium sennae-induced diarrhea, altered the structure and function of the gut content microbiota in mice, causing the enrichment of the characteristic bacteria Lactobacillus intestinalis and Bacteroides acidifaciens. The interactions between Lactobacillus intestinalis, Bacteroides acidifaciens and acetic acid, intestinal inflammation, and kidney function might be involved in the process of gut-kidney impairment in adenine, combined with Folium sennae-induced diarrhea.

Abstract
1. This study aimed to study the preventive and therapeutic effects of andrographolide (Andro) during Mycoplasma gallisepticum HS strain (MG) infection in ArborAcres (AA) broilers.2. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of Andro against MG was measured. Broiler body weight, feed efficiency, morbidity, cure rate and mortality were recorded during the experiment. Air sac lesion scores and immune organ index were calculated. Expression of pMGA1.2 in lung tissue and serum biochemical indices were examined. Histopathological examinations of immune organs, liver, trachea and lung tissue were conducted by Haematoxylin and Eosin stain.3. MIC was 3.75 μg/mL and Andro significantly inhibited the expression of pMGA1.2 (P ≤ 0.05). Compared with control MG-infected group, Andro low-dose and high-dose prevention reduced the morbidity of chronic respiratory disease in 40.00% and 50.00%, respectively. Mortality of C, D and E group was 16.67%, 10.00% and 6.67%, respectively. Cure rate of E, F, G and H group was 92.00%, 92.86%, 93.33% and 100.0%, respectively. Compared with control MG-infected group, Andro treatment significantly increased average weight gain (AWG), relative weight gain rate (RWG) and feed conversion rate (FCR) at 18 to 24 days (P ≤ 0.05). Compared with control group, Andro alone treatment significantly increased AWG in broilers (P ≤ 0.05).4. Compared with control MG-infected group, Andro significantly attenuated MG-induced air sac lesion, immune organs, liver, trachea and lung damage in broilers. Andro alone treatment did not induce abnormal morphological changes in these organs in healthy broilers. Serum biochemical analysis results showed, comparing with control MG-infected group, Andro significantly decreased the content of total protein, albumin, globulin, alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase, total bilirubin, urea, creatinine, uric acid, total cholesterol, and increased the albumin/globulin ratio and content of alkaline phosphatase, apolipoprotein B and apolipoprotein A-I in a dose-dependent manner (P ≤ 0.05).5. Andro could act as a potential agent against MG infection in broilers.

Abstract
The present study aims to study and analyze the characteristics of gut mucosal microbiota in diarrhea mice with deficiency kidney-yang syndrome. Ten male mice were randomly divided into the control group and the model group. Diarrhea mice model with deficiency kidney-yang syndrome was established by adenine combined with Folium sennae. The kidney structure was observed by hematoxylin-eosin (HE) staining. Serum Na+-K+-ATP-ase and Ca2+-Mg2+-ATP-ase were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The characteristics of gut mucosal microbiota were analyzed by performing third-generation high-throughput sequencing. The results showed that the model mice exhibit obvious structural damage to the kidney. Serum Na+-K+-ATP-ase and Ca2+-Mg2+-ATP-ase levels showed a decreased trend in the model group. The diversity and community structure of the gut mucosal microbiota improved in the model group. Dominant bacteria like Candidatus Arthromitus, Muribaculum, and Lactobacillus reuteri varied significantly at different taxonomic levels. The characteristic bacteria like Bacteroides, Erysipelatoclostridium, Anaerotignum, Akkermansia muciniphila, Clostridium cocleatum, Bacteroides vulgatus, and Bacteroides sartorii were enriched in the model group. A correlation analysis described that Erysipelatoclostridium was positively correlated with Na+-K+-ATP-ase and Ca2+-Mg2+-ATP-ase levels, while Anaerotignum exhibited an opposite trend. Together, adenine combined with Folium sennae damaged the structure of the kidney, affected energy metabolism, and caused disorders of gut mucosal microbiota in mice. Bacteroides, Erysipelatoclostridium, and Anaerotignum showed significant inhibition or promotion effects on energy metabolism. Besides, Akkermansia muciniphila, Clostridium cocleatum, Bacteroides vulgatus, and Bacteroides sartorii might be the characteristic species of gut mucosal microbiota responsible for causing diarrhea with deficiency kidney-yang syndrome.

Abstract
Qiwei Baizhu Powder (QWBZP) is a traditional Chinese medicine formula for treating diarrhea induced by various causes. It elicits an anti-diarrheal effect by regulating the gut microbiota (diversity, structure, and abundance). However, the contribution of different components in the QWBZP decoction to this effect remains unclear. In this study, we used the QWBZP decoction as a reference standard to investigate the effects of total glycosides (TGs) extracted from QWBZP decoction on the gut microbiota and bile acid metabolism in mice with antibiotic-associated diarrhea (AAD). The results of 16S rRNA gene sequencing and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) analysis showed that the effect of total glycosides of Qiwei Baizhu Powder (QWBZP-TG) on specific intestinal bacteria and bile acids was similar to that of the QWBZP decoction, but the intensity of this effect was more significant in the case of QWBZP-TG. The QWBZP decoction and QWBZP-TG promoted the proliferation of Lactobacillus and inhibited the growth of Proteus, Clostridium, Eubacterium, Facklamia, and Escherichia in AAD mice. They also increased the levels of deoxycholic acid and beta-muricholic acid and decreased those of taurocholate acid, tauro-alpha-muricholic acid, and tauro-beta-muricholic acid in AAD mice. Lactobacillus was the key bacterial genus responding to QWBZP-TG. Thus, this study provides novel insights into the bioactive components of QWBZP and their contribution to its effects.

Abstract
Wound is the most fundamental issue of burn injury, and its repair depends not only on effective wound treatment, but also on the good nutritional status of burned patients. Nutrition support is an important means to improve the nutritional status of patients and promote wound healing, and how to make it match the metabolism of burn wounds is a difficult task of nutrition therapy. In this paper, we analyzed the metabolic characteristics of different stages in burn wound healing, focused on the metabolic characteristics of glucose, protein, and glutamine in these stages, and proposed a nutritional strategy that is compatible with wound healing in order to maximize the role of nutrition therapy in wound repair.

Abstract
In halide perovskite solar cells the formation of secondary-phase excess lead iodide (PbI2) has some positive effects on power conversion efficiency (PCE) but can be detrimental to device stability and lead to large hysteresis effects in voltage sweeps. We converted PbI2 into an inactive (PbI2)2RbCl compound by RbCl doping, which effectively stabilizes the perovskite phase. We obtained a certified PCE of 25.6% for FAPbI3 (FA, formamidinium) perovskite solar cells on the basis of this strategy. Devices retained 96% of their original PCE values after 1000 hours of shelf storage and 80% after 500 hours of thermal stability testing at 85°C.

Abstract
The study of nuclei and antinuclei production has proven to be a powerful tool to investigate the formation mechanism of loosely bound states in high-energy hadronic collisions. The first measurement of the production of _{Λ}^{3}H in p-Pb collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02 TeV is presented in this Letter. Its production yield measured in the rapidity interval -1<y<0 for the 40% highest-multiplicity p-Pb collisions is dN/dy=[6.3±1.8(stat)±1.2(syst)]×10^{-7}. The measurement is compared with the expectations of statistical hadronization and coalescence models, which describe the nucleosynthesis in hadronic collisions. These two models predict very different yields of the hypertriton in charged particle multiplicity environments relevant to small collision systems such as p-Pb, and therefore the measurement of dN/dy is crucial to distinguish between them. The precision of this measurement leads to the exclusion with a significance larger than 6.9σ of some configurations of the statistical hadronization model, thus constraining the theory behind the production of loosely bound states at hadron colliders.

Abstract
RNA binding proteins (RBPs) are critical for the post-transcriptional control of RNAs and play vital roles in a myriad of biological processes, such as RNA localization and gene regulation. Therefore, computational methods that are capable of accurately identifying RBPs are highly desirable and have important implications for biomedical and biotechnological applications. Here, we propose a two-stage deep transfer learning-based framework, termed RBP-TSTL, for accurate prediction of RBPs. In the first stage, the knowledge from the self-supervised pre-trained model was extracted as feature embeddings and used to represent the protein sequences, while in the second stage, a customized deep learning model was initialized based on an annotated pre-training RBPs dataset before being fine-tuned on each corresponding target species dataset. This two-stage transfer learning framework can enable the RBP-TSTL model to be effectively trained to learn and improve the prediction performance. Extensive performance benchmarking of the RBP-TSTL models trained using the features generated by the self-supervised pre-trained model and other models trained using hand-crafting encoding features demonstrated the effectiveness of the proposed two-stage knowledge transfer strategy based on the self-supervised pre-trained models. Using the best-performing RBP-TSTL models, we further conducted genome-scale RBP predictions for Homo sapiens, Arabidopsis thaliana, Escherichia coli, and Salmonella and established a computational compendium containing all the predicted putative RBPs candidates. We anticipate that the proposed RBP-TSTL approach will be explored as a useful tool for the characterization of RNA-binding proteins and exploration of their sequence–structure–function relationships.

Abstract
The development of flexible energy devices is envisaged to revolutionize the next generation of the wearable electronics industry, the practical application yet faces critical issues of low power density, poor cycling stability, and low energy density. Herein, the authors report a newly flexible hybrid Zn-quinone battery (h-ZnQB) with acidic gel in the cathode and alkaline gel in the anode, in which proton (H+ ) and hydroxide ions (OH- ) are served as the ion charge carriers for acidic quinone cathode and alkaline Zn anode. To this end, the nanohybrids of sub-1 nm MoC quantum dots decorating nitrogen-doped ultrathin graphene (MoC QDs/NG) are developed as the advanced cathode electrocatalysts toward redox conversion between quinone and hydroquinone (H2 Q/Q). Comprehensive characterization studies and density functional theory (DFT) calculations reveal that high valent Mo species originating from the size-effects serve as the active sites for the conversion of H2 Q/Q, contributing to the impressive catalytic performance. The as-developed flexible h-ZnQB displays a high open-circuit voltage of 1.74 V with a specific capacity of 223.3 mAh g-1 and an energy density of 350 Wh kg-1 at 0.2 A g-1 , thanks to the fast kinetics of charge carriers (H+ and OH- ), the high activity of the catalyst, and the elaborate design of alkali-acid gel electrolytes.

A three-stage selection was conducted to identify differentially expressed miRNAs as candidates to construct the diagnostic panel. Further, to explore their potential roles in urothelial BC, bioinformatics analyses, including target genes prediction and functional annotation, were used. RESULTS Six downregulated miRNAs (miR-1-3p, miR-30a-5p, miR-100-5p, miR-125b-5p, miR-143-3p, and miR-200c-3p) and one upregulated, miR-182-5p, in BC patients' serum were detected compared to NCs and were selected to establish the diagnostic panel. Based on a backward stepwise logistic regression analysis, miR-125b-5p, miR-182-5p, and miR-200c-3p comprehended the diagnostic panel [area under the curve (AUC) = 0.959, sensitivity = 91.67%, specificity = 92.5%]. CONCLUSION The panel of three miRNAs had an excellent diagnostic capability, representing a potential non-invasive method for early BC detection.

Polarization of Λ and Λ[over ¯] Hyperons along the Beam Direction in Pb-Pb Collisions at sqrt[s]_{NN}=5.02 TeV. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2022; 128:172005. Abstract
The polarization of the Λ and Λ[over ¯] hyperons along the beam (z) direction, P_{z}, has been measured in Pb-Pb collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02 TeV recorded with ALICE at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The main contribution to P_{z} comes from elliptic flow-induced vorticity and can be characterized by the second Fourier sine coefficient P_{z,s2}=⟨P_{z}sin(2φ-2Ψ_{2})⟩, where φ is the hyperon azimuthal emission angle and Ψ_{2} is the elliptic flow plane angle. We report the measurement of P_{z,s2} for different collision centralities and in the 30%-50% centrality interval as a function of the hyperon transverse momentum and rapidity. The P_{z,s2} is positive similarly as measured by the STAR Collaboration in Au-Au collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=200 GeV, with somewhat smaller amplitude in the semicentral collisions. This is the first experimental evidence of a nonzero hyperon P_{z} in Pb-Pb collisions at the LHC. The comparison of the measured P_{z,s2} with the hydrodynamic model calculations shows sensitivity to the competing contributions from thermal and the recently found shear-induced vorticity, as well as to whether the polarization is acquired at the quark-gluon plasma or the hadronic phase.

Abstract
Limited therapeutic options are available for treating deep caries. Those materials with potential of a dual effect to remineralize hard tissue and regenerate defective dentin tissues could be used as a new strategy for deep caries treatment. However, the application of the single component remains a challenge mainly because they lack calcium and phosphorus, are easily degraded, and are difficult to retain in the intricate body fluid environment. Considering the abundant source of calcium and phosphorus as well as the delivery performance of mesoporous bioactive glass (MBG), an amelogenin-derived peptide (QP5), which has a significant role in hard tissue remineralization, was loaded to fabricate a novel composite. After the synthesis of highly ordered MBG using a sol-gel method, the QP5 peptide was loaded increasingly by its extensive porous structure and enhanced electrostatic absorption. When used in an acidic environment, the MBG/QP5 composite presented pH-responsiveness, releasing therapeutic ions and functional peptides in a sequential cascade, and eventually adjusted the pH to a neutral state. The composite was internalized by dental pulp cells through a clathrin-mediated pathway and influenced by cell membrane lipid raft regulation. It could be also transported through the macro-pinocytotic pathway. Compared to the single treatment of peptide QP5 in 48 h, the composite facilitated a higher level of retention of the intracellular peptides. The composite further promoted migration and odontogenesis of dental pulp cells, including the improved activity of alkaline phosphatase, increased formation of mineralized nodules, and upregulated expression of mineralization-related genes compared to using MBG or QP5 alone. The composite further induced the dentin-like layer in a rat pulp capping model. The results suggested that this intelligent material with pH-responsiveness provides a promising alternative treatment method for biomimetic restoration of deep caries.

Abstract
SARS-CoV-2 is a positive-sense, single-stranded RNA virus responsible for the COVID-19 pandemic. It remains unclear whether and to what extent the virus in human host cells undergoes RNA editing, a major RNA modification mechanism. Here we perform a robust bioinformatic analysis of metatranscriptomic data from multiple bronchoalveolar lavage fluid samples of COVID-19 patients, revealing an appreciable number of A-to-I RNA editing candidate sites in SARS-CoV-2. We confirm the enrichment of A-to-I RNA editing signals at these candidate sites through evaluating four characteristics specific to RNA editing: the inferred RNA editing sites exhibit (i) stronger ADAR1 binding affinity predicted by a deep-learning model built from ADAR1 CLIP-seq data, (ii) decreased editing levels in ADAR1-inhibited human lung cells, (iii) local clustering patterns, and (iv) higher RNA secondary structure propensity. Our results have critical implications in understanding the evolution of SARS-CoV-2 as well as in COVID-19 research, such as phylogenetic analysis and vaccine development. The COVID-19 pandemic is caused by SARS-CoV-2, an RNA virus. In the cells of COVID-19 patients, SARS-CoV-2 interacts with human proteins and is potentially subjected to their enzymatic activities. Here we investigated whether human protein enzymes can change the nucleotide sequence of SARS-CoV-2, thereby leaving a unique molecular footprint. We developed a robust computational algorithm to analyze the sequence data of SARS-CoV-2 obtained from lung fluid samples of COVID-19 patients and found that the virus contains new nucleotide changes that are likely induced by ADAR1, a powerful human protein that can modify specific nucleotide positions in many human transcripts. We further confirmed that the characteristics of the nucleotide changes detected in SARS-CoV-2 are similar to those observed in the human genes. Thus, these ADAR1-induced nucleotide changes may represent an under-appreciated force that can affect the evolution of SARS-CoV-2. Our study helps researchers better understand the evolutionary trajectory of SARS-CoV-2.

Measurement of the Groomed Jet Radius and Momentum Splitting Fraction in pp and Pb-Pb Collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02 TeV. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2022; 128:102001. Abstract
This article presents groomed jet substructure measurements in pp and Pb-Pb collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02 TeV with the ALICE detector. The soft drop grooming algorithm provides access to the hard parton splittings inside a jet by removing soft wide-angle radiation. We report the groomed jet momentum splitting fraction, z_{g}, and the (scaled) groomed jet radius, θ_{g}. Charged-particle jets are reconstructed at midrapidity using the anti-k_{T} algorithm with resolution parameters R=0.2 and R=0.4. In heavy-ion collisions, the large underlying event poses a challenge for the reconstruction of groomed jet observables, since fluctuations in the background can cause groomed parton splittings to be misidentified. By using strong grooming conditions to reduce this background, we report these observables fully corrected for detector effects and background fluctuations for the first time. A narrowing of the θ_{g} distribution in Pb-Pb collisions compared to pp collisions is seen, which provides direct evidence of the modification of the angular structure of jets in the quark-gluon plasma. No significant modification of the z_{g} distribution in Pb-Pb collisions compared to pp collisions is observed. These results are compared with a variety of theoretical models of jet quenching, and provide constraints on jet energy-loss mechanisms and coherence effects in the quark-gluon plasma.

Knee symptom but not radiographic knee osteoarthritis increases the risk of falls and fractures: results from the Osteoarthritis Initiative. Osteoarthritis Cartilage 2022; 30:436-442. [PMID: 34863991 DOI: 10.1016/j.joca.2021.11.015] [Citation(s) in RCA: 1] [Impact Index Per Article: 0.5] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Submit a Manuscript] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 08/06/2021] [Revised: 11/23/2021] [Accepted: 11/24/2021] [Indexed: 02/02/2023]
Abstract
OBJECTIVE To describe the effect of knee symptoms and radiographic osteoarthritis (ROA) on the risk of falls, recurrent falls, and fractures. DESIGN Participants from the Osteoarthritis Initiative were classified as having 'no', 'unilateral' or 'bilateral' knee symptoms (≥19 on a 0-96 Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index) and ROA (Kellgren-Lawrence grade ≥2) for each visit. Self-reported falls and fractures in the past 12 months were extracted at baseline and follow-up visits until month 96. Recurrent falls were defined as having ≥2 falls in the past 12 months. Hazard ratios (HR) with 95% confidence intervals (CI) were estimated using mixed-effects complementary log-log regression. RESULTS Of 4465 participants, 3145 (70%), 1681 (38%), and 806 (18%) experienced at least one fall, recurrent fall, and fracture, respectively, over 96 months. Compared to participants without symptomatic knee, unilateral and bilateral knee symptoms were associated with a 17% increased risk of falls and a 36-46% increased risk of recurrent falls, and bilateral knee symptoms increased the risk of fractures (HR 1.45, 95%CI 1.17 to 1.81). Compared to participants with no ROA in either knee, bilateral ROA was associated with a reduced risk of falls (HR 0.87, 95%CI 0.77 to 0.99) and fractures (HR 0.78, 95%CI 0.64 to 0.96). No statistically significant interactions between knee symptoms and ROA were observed. CONCLUSIONS This large population-based study showed that knee symptoms but not ROA increased the risk of falls, recurrent falls, and fractures, and that adults with bilateral ROA may have a lower risk of falls and fractures.

Abstract
A tungsten containing catalyst catalyzed oxidative cleavage of methyl oleate (MO) by employing H2O2 as an oxidant and is known as an efficient approach for preparing high value-added chemicals, however, the tungsten leaching problem remains unresolved. In this work, a binary catalyst consisting of tungsten oxide (WO3) and spongy titanosilicate (STS) zeolite is proposed for MO oxidative cleavage. The function of STS in this catalyst is investigated. On the one hand, STS converts MO to 9,10-epoxystearate (MES), which further forms nonyl aldehyde (NA) and methyl azelaaldehydate (MAA) with the catalysis of WO3. In this way, MO oxidation and hydrolysis that generates unwanted diol product 9,10-dihydroxystearate (MDS) decreases obviously. On the other hand, STS decomposes peroxide and promotes the conversion of soluble peroxotungstate to insoluble polytungstate. Meanwhile, these tungsten species are allowed to precipitate on its surface instead of remaining in the liquid phase owing to its relative large specific area. Therefore, tungsten leaching can be reduced from 37.0% to 1.2%. Due to the cooperation of WO3 and STS, 94.4% MO conversion and oxidative cleavage product selectivity of 63.1% are achieved, and the WO3–STS binary catalyst maintains excellent catalytic performance for 8 recycling reactions. Proposed “dissolve and precipitate” reaction mechanism of WO3–STS catalyzed MO oxidative cleavage reaction.![]()

Background
Catheter ablation has developed as the most effective therapeutic approach and won the highest-level guideline recommendation in treating atrial fibrillation (AF) in the decades. Several balloon-based catheter ablations, including hot balloon ablation (HBA) and cryoballoon ablation (CBA), have rapidly emerged as alternative modalities to conventional radiofrequency catheter-based AF ablation. However, the differences in characteristics, effectiveness, clinical outcomes, safety, and efficacy between HBA and CBA remain undetermined.
Purpose
To compare the differences in the prognosis and characteristics between HBA and CBA.
Methods
Our electronic search was conducted in six databases, including PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, ClinicalTrial.gov, and medRxiv, with specific search strategies. Eligible studies were selected according to specific criteria. All records were identified up to June 1, 2021. The mean difference, odds ratios (ORs), and 95% confidence interval (95% CI) were calculated to evaluate the clinical outcomes. Heterogeneity and risk of bias were also assessed with predefined criteria.
Results
A total of 7 studies were included in our final meta-analysis. Comparing with CBA, more patients in the HBA group required touch-up ablation (OR 2.76, 95% CI, 2.02, 3.77, P = 0.000). More residual conduction was seen in the HBA group. HBA group had a longer procedure duration than the CBA group (WMD 14.24, 95%CI 4.39, 24.09, P = 0.005). More patients in the CBA group were likely to have AF occurrence (OR 0.75, 95% CI, 0.44, 1.27, P = 0.281) and accepted more antiarrhythmic drug therapy (OR 0.70, 95% CI, 0.45, 1.09, P = 0.114), although the result was insignificant.
Conclusions
Both HBA and CBA are effective ablation approaches to treat atrial fibrillation. Patients who received HBA were more likely to receive touch-up ablation and undergo longer procedure time. Patients in the CBA group were more likely to have AF occurrence and accepted more antiarrhythmic therapies. However, the long-term safety is still unknown. Further studies of multicenter, randomized clinical trials are warranted to verify this fundamental question.

Peng X, Cheng CD, Zeng LJ. The diagnostic value of different criteria in predicting the response of LBBB patients: a systematic review and meta-analysis. Eur Heart J 2022. Abstract
Abstract

Type of funding sources: None.
Background
The left bundle branch has emerged as an essential part of the cardiac conduction system. However, many patients with conventional left bundle branch block (LBBB) QRS morphology appeared to have a poor response to cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) therapy; these might be due to they were non-LBBB patients who met the conventional diagnostic criteria but failed to meet the strict LBBB standard. There are different criteria to select appropriate CRT patients currently. Several studies have reported that patients with complete LBBB had worse ventricular synchronization and worse prognosis. Thus, it is of great clinical significance to distinguish between complete LBBB and non-LBBB.
Purpose
To compare the difference in mortality and CRT response between complete LBBB and non-LBBB patients.
Methods
This meta-analysis has been registered on the International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews (ID: CRD42021242318). A systematic search on PubMed, Cochrane library, Embase databases was conducted before July 2021. All the included studies were screened and identified based on the specific inclusion and exclusion criteria. Relevant data, including time to event data for different outcomes (e.g., hazard ratio, HR), responders, electrocardiogram parameters, and echocardiographic changes, were extracted for meta-analysis.
Results
A total of 15 studies were ultimately involved in this meta-analysis. A random-effect model was conducted due to the substantial heterogeneity. The results showed that patients who received CRT treatment in the complete LBBB group had a 35% reduction in mortality than in the non-LBBB group (HR 0.65, 95% CI 0.56 to 0.77, P =0.000). The subgroup analysis showed that when stratified by the Strauss criteria, the survival was much higher in complete LBBB patients (HR 0.58, 95% CI 0.43 to 0.77, P =0.000), compared with other criteria, including ESC, AHA, Marriot, and conventional (HR 0.72, 95% CI 0.63 to 0.82, P =0.000). The pooled results suggested that the patient survival rate was significantly better under the Strauss criteria than other standards.
Conclusions
Present criteria differentiating complete LBBB and non-LBBB have good predictive value for survival. Among those, Strauss criteria may provide the most valuable information on the predictive effects of mortality and survival rate. This meta-analysis indicates that the use of Strauss criteria correlated independently with the response and prognosis of CRT patients with LBBB.
