Abstract
Extrauterine pelvic hemangiopericytomas are rare tumors with malignant potential. Herein, we report a case of a 55-year-old male who presented with hydronephrosis and obstructive urinary symptoms. Cystoscopy, imaging and biopsy were unable to provide a definitive preoperative diagnosis. He underwent pelvic mass resection, and final pathology revealed malignant hemangiopericytoma. The patient is being closely monitored with serial imaging, and remains disease-free at 23 months of post-operative follow-up without adjuvant therapy. Our experience and evidence from the existing literature suggests that given the rarity of these tumors, adherence to standard oncologic principles is necessary to ensure adequate resection and appropriate follow-up.

Abstract
Background: Radiation exposure is a known risk factor for meningioma but there are no data regarding hemangiopericytoma and radiation exposure.Case Description: We report a 29-year-old pineoblastoma patient diagnosed with a hemangiopericytoma at a different location, after a successful surgical excision and adjuvant radiotherapy for the original tumor 4-year prior.Conclusion: Hemangiopericytoma emergence can be seen after radiotherapy.

Abstract
Spinal solitary fibrous tumors are extremely rare neoplasms and of those, intradural extramedullary location is even rarer. A 64-year-old male presented to the emergency department with worsening right leg pain over 1 month. Whole spine magnetic resonance imaging revealed a well-circumscribed mass with low T1 and markedly low T2 signal intensity at the level of T1-2. Spine computed tomography showed no evidence of calcification or acute hemorrhage. Surgical removal was performed and the final diagnosis was intradural extramedullary solitary fibrous tumor.

Abstract
A solitary fibrous tumor (SFT) is a rare, NAB2-STAT6 fusion gene-associated mesenchymal neoplasm. It most commonly arises in the pleural site, but it can occur at many other sites, and rarely also in the head and neck (H&N) region. STFs may show many growth patterns and therefore can be easily mistaken for other more common H&N spindle cell or epithelial lesions. In this study, we present our experience in the diagnosis of 20 cases of SFT in the H&N region and discuss their most notable mimickers. In all cases, STAT6 expression was found positive by immunohistochemistry, and the NAB2-STAT6 fusion was confirmed by next-generation sequencing. Three major fusion variants were detected: NAB2ex2-STAT6int1 (5/20, 25%), NAB2ex6-STAT6ex16 (4/20, 20%), and NAB2ex4-STAT6ex2 (3/20, 15%). Clinical follow-up was available for 16 patients (median follow-up time: 84 months). One patient with a morphologically malignant SFT experienced multiple local recurrences, followed by dissemination into the lungs and meninges. This malignant SFT also displayed an aberrant FLI1 expression, which was not previously reported in SFT cases. We also summarize findings from 200 cases of SFT of the H&N region, which included cases from our study, and from previous studies that reported on the fusion status of the STAT6 gene. The results suggest that metastatic disease developed only in cases with STAT6 variants that included the DNA-binding domain (STAT6-full variants), which contradicts expectations from previous reports and deserves further investigation.

Abstract
BACKGROUND/AIM Extralobar pulmonary sequestration (EPS) is an unusual congenital defect characterized by the presence of non-functioning lung tissue receiving arterial supply from the systemic arteries. Primary hemangiopericytoma (HPC) is an uncommon potentially malignant tumor of vascular origin that usually involves the soft tissue of the extremities or retroperitoneum, but extremely rarely affects the lung. We present the rare case of a primary pulmonary HPC arising in an EPS. CASE REPORT A 65-year-old woman, with dyspnea and pleuritic chest pain, was referred for further investigation. Radiological evaluation demonstrated a well-circumscribed mass above the right hemidiaphragm, receiving its arterial supply from the descending thoracic aorta. The patient underwent a right posterolateral thoracotomy and a middle lobectomy. The intraoperative finding was a well-encapsulated solid mass. The histological evaluation described HPC. RESULTS The patient remains fit and healthy. CONCLUSION Pulmonary HPC can arise in EPS. Surgical excision is the treatment of choice.

Abstract
Hemangiopericytoma (HPC) is rare in the urogenital system, most frequently occurs in the pelvis, head and neck, and meninges, it is extremely rare in the kidney. US, CT, or MRI do not show any specific sign of renal HPC that might aid in the differential diagnosis with other renal tumors, that's why almost all cases are diagnosed after pathological results. The majority of cases are identified in patients with an unspecific clinical manifestations associated with hematuria or hypertension, hypoglycemia or additional paraneoplastic syndromes. Here we present a rare case of hemangiopericytoma in 15 year old female, with drug refractory hypertension.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Tumors of the spinal cord are rare and some can be confused with each other. We report a rare spinal cord solitary fibrous tumor/hemangiopericytoma (SFT/HPC), and propose keys to differentiate spinal cord tumors from each other. CASE REPORT A 67-year-old man presented weakness with recent diffuse sensory disorders in the right lower limb. Spinal MRI revealed a T8-T9 intradural extramedullary mass with spinal cord compression. Gross total resection of a poorly vascularized intradural tumor was achieved. It was an encapsulated extramedullary tumor, which was difficult to separate from the spinal cord due to the presence of pial adhesions. Definitive diagnosis was grade 1 SFT/HPC of the spinal cord. One-year follow-up MRI revealed complete excision without any evidence of residual tumor. CONCLUSION SFT/HPC is a very rare spinal tumor that can be extramedullary, intramedullary or both. It may perfectly mimic meningioma. The maximal resection is the best treatment, but can be challenging because of the tumor's firm consistency and pial adherences to the spinal cord. Outcome is good in case of gross total resection, but there is a risk of very late recurrence, requiring long-term follow-up.

Abstract
In 1942, Stout and Murray first used the term hemangiopericytoma to describe a tumor which is distinguished histologically from other types of vascular neoplasm characterized by proliferation of pericytes. It is a rare neoplasm that was originally described as a vascular tumor derived from the pericytes. They account for 2%-3% of all soft tissue sarcomas in humans and they occur mainly in the musculoskeletal system. About 15%-30% of all hemangiopericytomas occur in the head and neck region. Hemangiopericytoma of supraglottis is very rare neoplasm with only nine cases reported in literature and ours is the tenth case overall and first case in pediatric age group. Herein, we are presenting an extremely rare case report of hemangiopericytoma of supraglottis in a 6-year-old male child who presented with stridor followed by which tracheostomy was done. Later, the patient was treated initially with radiotherapy followed by surgery, i.e., laryngectomy in view of residual disease postcurative radiotherapy. Hence, hemangiopericytoma is a very rare tumor overall and can present in pediatric age group and can be one most important differential diagnosis because many patients in this age group, stridor most commonly occurs due to the infectious causes such as influenza virus and diphtheria-induced croup, i.e., laryngotracheobronchitis.

Abstract
The management of patients harboring central nervous system (CNS) hemangiopericytomas (HPCs) is a partially answered challenge. These are rare locally aggressive lesions, with potential for local recurrence, distal neural metastasis (DNM), and extraneural metastasis (ENM). Resection, when feasible, remains the initial treatment option, providing histological diagnosis and immediate relief of tumor-related mass effect. Patients receiving surgery alone or surgery and external beam radiotherapy (EBRT) show improved overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival as compared to those undergoing a biopsy alone (p = 0.01 and p = 0.02, respectively). Yet, in many instances, patient and tumor-related parameters preclude complete resection. EBRT or stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) shares a significant role in achieving local tumor control, not shown to impact OS in HPC patients. The benefits of SRS/EBRT are clearly limited to improved local tumor volume control and neurologic function, not affecting DNM or ENM development. SRS provides acceptable rates of local tumor volume control coupled with treatment safety and a patient-friendly apparatus and procedure. Single-session SRS is most effective for lesions measuring <2 cm in their largest diameter (10 cm3 volume), with prescription doses of at >15 Gy. Systemic HPC disease is managed with various chemotherapeutic, immunotherapeutic, and anti-angiographic agents, with limited success. We present a short discussion on CNS HPCs, focusing our discussion on available evidence regarding the role of microsurgical resection, EBRT, SRS, chemotherapy, and immunotherapy for upfront, part of adoptive hybrid surgery approach or for recurrent HPCs.

Abstract
Intracranial hemangiopericytoma, particularly in the setting of extracranial metastatic disease, can cause severe hypoglycemia; but there is limited description of this phenomenon in the neurosurgical literature. We report the case of a male patient with recurrent meningeal hemangiopericytoma that had metastasized to multiple extracranial locations, who presented with severe, symptomatic hypoglycemia and abnormal levels of insulin, pro-insulin, insulin-like growth factors I and II, and C-peptide. This case highlights the association between hemangiopericytoma and abnormal levels of peptide hormones involved in glucose homeostasis, which may serve as a warning sign for hemangiopericytoma and/or metastatic disease.

Abstract
Background The 2016 central nervous system (CNS) World Health Organisation (WHO) Update has merged the entities of meningeal solitary fibrous tumor (SFT) and hemangiopericytoma (HPC) into a single entity based on the presence of the nerve growth factor 1A (NGFI-A) binding protein 2 (NAB2)- signal transducer and activator of transcription 6 (STAT6) gene fusion in these tumors. Immunohistochemical (IHC) staining with STAT6 results in a strong nuclear positivity confirming the diagnosis. Meningeal SFT/HPCs are currently histologically graded according to a three-tiered system. Grade I (SFT phenotype) is benign, whereas grades II and III (HPC phenotype) are malignant and require radiotherapy in addition to gross total resection. Objectives The objectives were to review the cases diagnosed as meningeal SFT or HPC between 2010 and 2017 and classify them into SFT (grade I) or HPC (grades II and III) phenotypes; to confirm the diagnosis by performing STAT6 immunohistochemistry; and to observe and record the histological features in detail and correlate the tumor grades with their behavior. The published literature on the subject was also reviewed. Materials and Methods A total of 21 cases diagnosed between 2010 and 2017 as meningeal SFT or HPC were included in the study. All cases were reviewed by the authors and were categorized and graded according to histologic phenotype and mitotic count. STAT6 immunohistochemistry was performed in all the cases. The epidemiological data and histologic findings in each case were recorded in detail. The follow-up of patients was obtained. Results Fifteen patients were males and six were females. The mean age was 43.5 years. The mean tumor size was 6.8 cm. The tumor specimens in 20 out of 21 cases corresponded to the HPC phenotype, of which 6 were in grade II while 14 were in grade III. Thus, over 95% cases had malignant lesions. The tumor in all the 21 cases recruited for the study showed immunohistochemical positivity for SAT6, while CD34 was positive in all the 18 tumor in which it was performed. The follow-up was available in 14 of the patients. Recurrence occurred in six patients who had either a grade II or a grade III tumor and three patients died (including one patient with a grade III tumor. This patient died a month after initial resection although there was no evidence of recurrence). Radiotherapy was given to only 4 out of 14 patients in whom follow-up was available. Conclusion These rare tumors need to be accurately diagnosed and optimally treated (gross total resection and radiotherapy) to improve the prognosis.

Abstract
Background Solitary fibrous tumor (SFT) is a rare mesenchymal tumor that typically arises from the pleura. Although it may appear in other organs, it rarely develops in the pancreas. We report herein a rare case of metastatic SFT of the pancreas originating from an intracranial tumor and subsequently identified as a cystic neoplasm of the pancreas. Case presentation A 58-year-old woman with a past medical history of brain tumor visited the hospital for further investigation of a cystic tumor in the pancreas tail. Abdominal imaging showed a heterogeneously enhancing mass that was initially suspected as a neuroendocrine neoplasm, solid pseudopapillary neoplasm, or mucinous cystic neoplasm of the pancreas. Distal pancreatectomy was performed without any intraoperative and postoperative complications. Pathological findings confirmed a diagnosis of malignant SFT of the pancreas with hyperproliferative potential. A histopathological review of her brain tumor revealed that the pancreatic tumor was derived from her brain lesion. The patient developed recurrent brain disease 4 years after the pancreatectomy, but no recurrence has been observed in the abdominal cavity. Conclusions SFT should be considered in the differential diagnosis of untypical hypervascular pancreatic mass, particularly in patients with a history of an intrathoracic or intracranial mesenchymal tumor. Immunohistochemical analysis is crucial in detecting this tumor entity. Hyperproliferative status indicates a malignant disease and requires careful postoperative observation.

Abstract
Pharyngeal hemangiopericytoma is a rare tumor .Surgical access to space has been selected based on the location of the tumor in this space, size, and type of pathology. Hemangiopericytoma requires extracapsular dissection. Hemorrhagic nature and tight attachment to adjacent tissues are the other reasons for choosing the surgical approach with the best access. The patient was a 55-year-old female with left-sided facial swelling and dumbbell-shaped lesion involving buccal and lateral pharyngeal space. Brisk hemorrhage happened during biopsy. Submandibular incision, osteotomy of mandibular angle, and temporary proximal segment removal were done. Extracapsular dissection of the lesion performed under direct vision. Proximal segment was returned to the original location and internally fixed with miniplate. Postoperative course was without complication. Mandibular proximal segment replantation technique should be used to treat parapharyngeal tumors with a hemorrhagic tendency.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Hemangiopericytoma is a tumor of vascular origin. It is very rare in the prostate. They are generally aggressive tumors. Currently, the treatment of choice is radical surgery. In the literature, there are less than 50 cases described, and neoadjuvant treatment has not been reported in any article. This treatment presents positive responses in another type of sarcomas. Our goal is to report two cases of malignant hemangiopericytoma. The first case was treated with radical surgery and the second case was treated with neoadjuvant chemotherapy before surgery. METHODS The first case is a 40 year old male. Obstructive urinary symptoms were his first symptoms. A prostate mass with tumor characteristics was seen on ultrasound. After transrectal biopsy, he was diagnosed with hemangiopericitoma. Because the tumor size, neoadjuvant chemotherapeutic prior to radical surgery was decided. The second case is a 77 year old male with an incidental diagnosis of renal mass. After radical nephrectomy, he was diagnosed with hemangiopericitoma. He did not receive adjuvant chemotherapy. RESULTS In the first case, after neoadjuvant therapy, tumor size was reduced significantly. A pelvic exenteration with radical cystoprostatectomy and rectal resection and Bricker type urinary diversion and colostomy were carried out. In the second case controls after radical nephrectomy were correct and he did not need any treatment. CONCLUSIONS In urinary tumors, the prostate hemangiopericytoma is a rare entity. Currently, neoadjuvant chemotherapy is not established as treatment for these tumors. For other sarcomas neoadyuvant treatment has good response. In our case, a good result was obtained with neoadjuvant chemotheraphy before surgery. However, a greater number of cases are necessary to establish the use of neoadjuvant chemotherapy in urinary hemangiopericytomas.

Abstract
Sinonasal glomangiopericytoma (GPC) is an uncommon primary sinonasal neoplasm showing a perivascular myoid differentiation. Originally perceived as an intranasal counterpart to soft tissue hemangiopericytomas, initial immunohistochemical reports showed mostly negative to focal weak reactivity for CD34 as useful in separating GPC (almost always benign) from morphologic mimics, mainly solitary fibrous tumor (potentially aggressive). In anecdotally encountering cases of GPC with CD34 reactivity beyond the expected weak/negative immunoprofile, we sought to formally evaluate CD34 staining in 10 cases of GPC from two different vendors in conjunction with a meta-analysis of other GPC series reporting CD34 staining. Ten cases of GPC were retrieved from the authors' pathology archives (left nasal cavity = 7, right nasal cavity = 3; 5 men, 5 women; average age 59.0 years with range of 43-77 years). Follow-up showed no evidence of disease after complete resection from all 10 cases (average follow-up length of 53.3 months, range 6-106 months). All 10 GPC cases (100%) showed positivity using CD34 from Leica (QBend10 clone), with most showing moderate to diffuse staining intensity and moderate extent, while only 2 of 10 cases (20%) showed positivity using CD34 from Ventana (QBend10 clone), with both positive cases showing weak staining intensity and focal extent. Literature review of other studies (reporting ≥ 5 GPC cases) found a wide spectrum of CD34 positivity ranging from 0 to 100%; including our GPC cases, CD34 showed a cumulative positivity of 28%. Although negative CD34 reactivity has been historically regarded as prototypic for GPC, in this study we have exposed laboratory variability in CD34 expression and have shown that reliance on expected negative reactivity in GPC can be a clinically relevant diagnostic pitfall. Our findings suggest a panel approach in selecting diagnostic immunostains rather than relying on CD34 alone in the assessment of spindle cell neoplasms in the sinonasal tract with admixed prominent staghorn-like vasculature.

Abstract
Solitary fibrous tumor (SFT) is a soft-tissue neoplasm of intermediate malignant potential, presenting a wide histopathological spectrum. Poorer prognosis of hemangiopericytoma of the central nervous system (CNS), hypoglycemic SFT, and dedifferentiation are well-known characters of SFT, but their clinical significance were not demonstrated enough by large-sized study. Here, the clinicopathological features of SFTs are reviewed and the relationship between genetics and clinicopathological features is examined using 145 SFT cases. All cases were STAT6 IHC-positive and/or NAB2-STAT6 fusion gene-positive. Tumor location was classified into three categories: 30 pleuropulmonary, 96 non-pleuropulmonary/non-central nervous system (CNS), and 18 CNS tumors. The tumor developed recurrence in 21 of 93 available cases (22.5%), metastasis in 11 of 93 (11.8%), and tumor death in 9 of 93 (9.6%). Hypoglycemia occurred in 2 primary tumors and 1 metastatic tumor among 63 reviewable cases, and dedifferentiation occurred in 10 cases (6.8%) including 6 primary tumors, 2 recurrent tumors, and 2 metastatic tumors. Recurrence was positively associated with CNS location (p = 0.0109) and hypoglycemia (p = 0.001); metastasis was positively associated with CNS location (p = 0.0231), hypoglycemia (p < 0.0001), and dedifferentiation (p < 0.0001), while metastasis was negatively correlated with pleural location (p = 0.0471). Tumor death was positively associated with male sex (p = 0.0154), larger size (p = 0.0455), hypoglycemia (p < 0.0001), and dedifferentiation (p < 0.0001). Multivariate analysis revealed independent statistical significance of dedifferentiation for overall survival (p = 0.0467). Exon variant of the fusion gene had no statistical correlation with clinical outcome. In conclusion, dedifferentiation is a major prognostic factor of SFT, and specific location such as cerebromeningeal and intra-abdominal site and hypoglycemia also had a high risk for unfavorable prognosis.

Abstract
Solitary fibrous tumor/hemangiopericytomas (SFT/HPCs) are mesenchymal tumors characterized by "staghorn" blood vessels and collagen deposition. Little is known about SFT/HPCs with papillary architecture. We summarized the clinicopathologic features of 12 patients with papillary SFT/HPCs (8 males and 4 females; median age: 59 years), including 8 previously reported cases. Tumors were present in the meninges (75%, 9/12), adrenal gland (8%, 1/12), orbit (8%, 1/12), or spinal canal (8%, 1/12). Six tumors (50%) had a true papillary architecture with fibrovascular cores and 6 tumors (50%) had a pseudopapillary architecture with vascular cores. Nuclear staining for STAT6 was present in all tested tumors (10/10). RT-PCR indicated NAB2 ex6-STAT6 ex17 fusion in 4 tumors (80%, 4/5) and NAB2 ex4-STAT6 ex2 fusion in 1 tumor (20%, 1/5). Five patients (42%, 5/12), all with tumors in the meninges, developed local recurrence at a median of 61 months after surgery (range: 56-165 months; mean: 88.6 months). These results indicated that the papillary architecture is a morphological form of SFT/HPCs. The recognition of this pattern, with appropriate immunohistochemical analysis and assessment of NAB2-STAT6 fusion, should facilitate the distinction of these rare neoplasms from morphologically similar tumors in the meninges, lung, pleura, and soft tissue.

Abstract
Hemangiopericytoma and Solitary Fibrous Tumor are tumors with low incidence. They have a tendency to recur locally and to metastasize. The WHO integrated both tumors into a new entity but one of the pending issues is to demonstrate the effectiveness of surgery plus complementary radiotherapy (RT) and standardize the use of it. We reviewed the data from 10 years. We assessed pathologic and radiologic characteristics. The operation records were evaluated to determine the features and extent of tumor resection. We compared the outcomes in patients using or not RT. The mean follow-up was 74.8 months, with a range of 12 and 210 months. The population included 3 males (30%) and 7 females (70%). The most common location was brain convexity (30%), the remaining were cervical and lumbar spine, sacrum, intraventricular, torcular, sphenoid ridge and intraorbital. Postoperative external beam radiotherapy was delivered in 7 patients (70%), the criteria were a partial resection or WHO II and III histological grades. 2 patients developed local recurrences at 12 and 19 months after initial surgery. 1 patient underwent 2 surgeries, and the other, 4 surgeries. The mean recurrence free survival rate was 15.5 months. Distant metastases were found in 4 patients. 3 of the 10 patients died. Five-year overall survival rate was 66% and mean overall survival was 76 months. A safe and complete resection in the first surgery is the most important prognostic factor. Complementary RT can be helpful, even in cases of complete resection in WHO low-grade.

Abstract
Background: Intracranial solitary fibrous tumor/hemangiopericytoma (SFT/HPC) is a rare mesenchymal tumor with a propensity to recur and metastasize extracranially years after treatment. Accordingly, there are no reported cases of a patient presenting with a simultaneous intracranial primary and extracranial metastases. We present the case of a patient presenting with an intracranial SFT/HPC and simultaneous liver metastases and propose a treatment paradigm. Case Description: A 74-year-old male smoker presented with confusion. An MRI of the brain revealed a heterogeneously enhancing left frontal extra-axial mass. Systemic workup revealed multiple small liver lesions concerning for metastases. The patient underwent gross total resection (GTR) of the intracranial lesion with adjuvant CyberKnife stereotactic radiotherapy to the resection cavity. Pathology was consistent with a WHO Grade III SFT/HPC (previously known as anaplastic HPC). The liver lesions were biopsied and confirmed to be metastases. They were subsequently treated with stereotactic body radiation therapy, temozolomide, and bevacizumab. Eighteen months postoperatively, the patient is alive with no evidence of intracranial malignancy and regression of the hepatic lesions. Conclusion: Several studies support GTR and adjuvant radiotherapy to treat intracranial SFT/HPC. The role of adjuvant chemotherapy is less clear. Metastatic disease is typically detected several years after the initial diagnosis, and there is no consensus regarding the optimal treatment strategy. We propose that the rare presentation of intracranial SFT/HPC with simultaneous extracranial metastases should be treated in a multidisciplinary fashion with surgical resection, adjuvant radiotherapy, and chemotherapy.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Angioleiomyoma (ALM) is a soft tissue neoplasm rarely described in the intracranial site. Because of their uncommon presentation, atypical neuroradiologic and pathologic features, ALMs are often misdiagnosed. CASE DESCRIPTION We describe the neuroradiologic, clinical, and pathologic data of a 37-year-old male patient suffering from a tentorial ALM. He was admitted at our hospital because of a posterior cranial fossa mass. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed a left tentorial tumor, hypointense on T1-weighted sequences, with heterogeneous contrast enhancement after gadolinium injection ("salt-and-pepper" fashion) and slightly hyperintense signal on T2-weighted sequence. After surgery, pathological examination showed a tumor composed of several thick-walled blood vessels mixed with a population of deeply eosinophilic spindle-shaped smooth muscle cells arranged in bundles. Necrosis was absent. Neither cellular pleomorphism nor mitoses were detected. Immuno-histochemical analysis confirmed the smooth muscle phenotype of the spindle cell component: diffuse and strong positivity for alpha-smooth muscle actin, desmin, and h-caldesmon. Based on both morphologic and immunohistochemical findings, a diagnosis of primary intracranial ALM was rendered. CONCLUSIONS We add to the literature the tenth case of this exceedingly rare tumor and submit that ALM should be suspected when a tentorial mass with a "flame-like" time-dependent pattern of contrast enhancement on MRI, a "salt-and-pepper" post-contrast appearance on MRI T1-weighted sequences, and a relation with large intracranial feeding vessels are present.

Abstract
We report a case of bulky cardiac metastasis of intracranial solitary fibrous tumor/hemangiopericytoma (SFT/HPC). A 72-year-old woman developed a chief complaint of chest pain. Contrast-enhanced computed tomography revealed multiple enhanced masses in the heart, retroperitoneum, and femur. Initially, multiple metastases of cardiac primary angiosarcoma were suspected because the cardiac mass was the largest. However, it was diagnosed as SFT/HPC on the basis of biopsy and immunostaining for the retroperitoneal lesion. She had a history of resected brain tumor surgery for a meningioma 11 years earlier, and pathological reconfirmation revealed this was not a meningioma but rather a SFT/HPC. Thus, we found that the enhanced masses were extracranial metastases of an intracranial primary SFT/HPC. She died approximately 3 years after the onset of chest pain. Autopsy confirmed metastasis in the retroperitoneum, liver, lung, mesentery, skeletal muscle, and bone in addition to the heart. SFT/HPC has been reported to easily recur locally and to show systemic metastasis over the long term. Given that SFT/HPC has been recognized as a subtype of meningioma, the differential diagnosis for patients with a history of intracranial tumors, such as meningioma, should include SFT/HPC.

Abstract
Solitary fibrous tumor (SFT) is a rare, soft tissue neoplasm that rarely presents in breast tissue, with only 27 previously reported cases. To our knowledge, only one case of malignant SFT has been reported in the English literature. A 75-year-old Caucasian woman presented to our institution with a 3-month history of a palpable left breast mass. No other symptoms, including nipple discharge or skin changes, were noted. She underwent 3 previous biopsies for right breast masses, all of which were benign, with no evidence of spindle cell neoplasm, atypical hyperplasia, or malignancy. Microscopic examination of the mass demonstrated a classic area of SFT with areas of high-grade anaplastic component. In these areas, the tumor showed atypical epithelioid cells arranged in hypercellular sheets with diminished branching vasculature, nuclear pleomorphism, and increased mitotic count (up to 9/10 high-power fields). This case represents the second case of malignant SFT in the breast.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Prior studies have highlighted infratentorial tumor location as a prognostic factor for solitary fibrous tumor (SFT) and hemangiopericytoma (HPC) of the central nervous system (CNS), and spinal location is considered a positive prognostic factor for other tumors of the CNS. While SFT/HPC of the CNS is known to frequently arise from the spinal meninges, there are no case series that report outcomes for spinally located CNS tumors, and their prognosis in relation to intracranial and other CNS-located tumors is unknown. OBJECTIVE To investigate outcomes for patients with SFT/HPC of the spinal meninges. METHODS The Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End-Results Program was used to identify patients with SFT/HPC within the CNS from 1993-2015. We retrospectively analyzed the relationship between tumor location (spinal vs. Brain and other CNS) and survival. RESULTS We identified 551 cases of CNS SFT/HPC, 64 (11.6%) of which were primary tumors of the spinal meninges. Spinal tumors were more likely than brain and other CNS tumors to be SFT vs. HPC (37.5 vs. 12%, p < 0.001), benign (42.2 vs. 20.3%, p < 0.001), and less than 5 cm (53.1 vs. 35.7%, p < 0.001). The 10-year survival rates for spinal and brain/other CNS tumors were 85 and 58%, respectively. Median survival time was significantly longer for spinal tumors (median survival not reached vs. 138 months, p = 0.03, HR = 0.41 [95% CI 0.18-0.94]). On multivariable analysis, spinal tumor location was associated with improved survival over tumors located in the brain and other CNS (HR = 0.36 [95% CI 0.15-0.89], p = 0.03). CONCLUSION Spinal tumor location is associated with improved survival in patients with SFT/HPC of the CNS. Larger institutional studies are necessary to characterize the relationship between tumor location and other relevant factors such as presentation and amenability to gross-total resection and adjuvant radiotherapy. Future studies exploring optimal management of spinally located tumors are also needed.
