Abstract
Peptidoaminobenzophenones (1), terminal N-substituted peptidoaminobenzophenones (14), and acylglycylaminobenzophenones (16) were prepared as a novel series of ring-opened derivatives of 1,4-benzodiazepine. Z-Gly- and Z-Ala-N-methylaminobenzophenones (4) were treated with HBr-HOAc to give Gly- and Ala-N-methylaminobenzophenone hydrobromides (8). Reaction of 8 with chloroacetyl chloride in dimethylformamide (DMF) or hexamethylphosphoramide (HMPA) gave chloracetamide (13), which was allowed to react with various amines to afford a number of terminal N-substituted derivatives (14). Reaction of 8 with various acyl halides in HMPA or DMF gave a number of acylglycyl-N-methylaminobenzophenones (16). Peptidoaminobenzophenones (1) were also prepared by several convenient methods. Many of these compounds exhibited high CNS activity in animals when given orally. In antianxiety activity the potency of some compounds is equal to or higher than that of diazepam.

Abstract
In 53 extensively burned patients, a comparative study was conducted on lactated Ringer's solution, colloid plus lactated Ringer's solution and hypertonic lactated saline solution on their hemodynamic and respiratory effects. The total amount of infusion required to resucitate the initial hypovolemic phase was the least in the hypertonic lactated saline solution group; whereas, the total sodium intake was the greatest in the lactated Ringer's solution group. Elevation of the respiratory index in the hypertonic lactated saline solution group was slightly more than the normal range, but insignificant. Cardiac output decreased initially in all three groups, but a hyperdynamic state with a simultaneous increase in the respiratory index occurred rapidly in the lactated Ringer's solution group; however, it occurred after five to seven days in the other two groups. Arteriovenous oxygen content difference increased in the hypertonic lactated saline solution group and decreased in the colloid plus lactaed Ringer's solution group, with no significant change in the lactated Ringer's solution group. From this study, the use of hypetonic lactated saline solution seems to be the best choice in the initial resuscitation of thermal injury.

Abstract
A series of noval peptidoaminobenzophenones has been prepared via several routes and was evaluated for CNS activity. The structure--activity relationships in the series are discussed. In general, dipeptido-N-methylaminobenzophenones showed higher activities than the corresponding NH derivatives. Some compounds had very high activities in antipentylenetetrazole and antifighting tests in mice when orally administered. Very weak toxicity was also found in these compounds. Water solubility of the peptidoaminobenzophenones and their salts were tested. Possible in these compounds. Water solubility of the peptidoaminobenzophenones and their salts were tested. Possible in vivo conversion of peptidoaminobenzophenone by enzymatic cleavage of the terminal amino acid, followed by chemical cyclization to 1,4-benzodiazepine, is also discussed. Such novel open-ring derivatives of 1,4-benzodiazepine may serve as useful CNS agents.

Abstract
The 1H-NMR spectra and the resonance Raman spectra of intermediate spin complex, octaethylporphyrinatoiron (III) perchlorate (OEP-Fe(III)ClO4) and its mono imidazole adduct have been recorded and analyzed. The perchlorate complex was determined to be an intermediate-spin state (S = 3/2) in dichloromethane. The mono imidazole and 2-methylimidazole adducts of OEP-Fe(III)ClO4 were of the high-spin state in dichloromethane, which is a good model for the ferrihemoproteins such as metmyoglobins. The spin state of OEP-Fe(III)ClO4 varies the polarity of solvent from typical high-spin (S = 5/2) to typical low-spin (S = 1/2) state including intermediate-spin state (S = 3/2). The resonance Raman studies of the intermediate-spin complex in various solvents indicate that the complex is a plausible model to reproduce anomalous physico-chemical properties of the ferricytochrome c' at physiological condition.

Abstract
In this paper, we show techniques to examine the stationarity and the normality of time series as well as results obtained by applying these techniques to EEG data during sleep stages. Many statistical analyses of the EEG data are based on the assumption that the EEG data are stationary and normally distributed. However, the problem is to know the length of data which is most appropriate for the statistical analysis. From the analysis, it is found that a decreased length of data implies an increased degree of stationarity and normality in each stage of sleep. However, for the practical stationary analysis of EEG data, it is shown that it is appropriate to take about 5 s during sleep state. Stationarity is fulfilled to a relatively large extent in REM but more seldom in stage 2. In the case of short data, asymmetric distribution occupies the large parts of non-normal distribution. As the length of data increases the proportion which is symmetric but sharper or flatter than the normal distribution increases.

Abstract
Biomedical data, such as EEG, EMG and neural impulse sequences, are regarded as the stochastic phenomena of biological systems, and the statistical properties of such time series are often examined. Most of the statistical analysis processed in the frequency and the time domain are based on the assumption that the time series is weakly stationary and normally distributed. Therefore, as the basis of the statistical analysis of the biomedical data, it is necessary to know whether they satisfy the conditions of weak stationarity and normality. However, impulse response and evoked potential biomedical data, are not regarded as the stationary time series. Therefore, other analysis is required. In this paper, the authors present four programs, TEST1, TEST2, TEST3 and TEST4, to examine above conditions. Furthermore, in order to clarify the characteristic of each program, the time series were generated by the computer and examined by the test programs.
