Abstract
BACKGROUND Psoriatic arthritis (PsA) is a chronic inflammatory disease associated with psoriasis (PsO). Early diagnosis and prompt therapeutic intervention are crucial for limiting PsA progression and prevention of disability. Dermatologists are in a privileged position to detect early PsA. The management of patients with PsA in the dermatology setting is widely variable. OBJECTIVE To provide practical recommendations for the management of patients with PsA in the dermatology setting including early diagnosis and treatment. METHODS A consensus document was written by an expert panel composed by dermatologists (n = 12) and rheumatologists (n = 6). Eleven highly relevant questions were selected and elaborated with answers/statements based on a narrative literature review. The resulting document was discussed in a face-to-face meeting adopting a nominal group technique to reach consensus (i.e. 100% agreement) using the Delphi method. RESULTS A consensus was achieved in defining the following: the clinical characteristics differentiating inflammatory and non-inflammatory signs and symptoms of joint disease; the most important differential diagnoses of PsA in clinical practice; the most useful screening questionnaires, serum laboratory tests and imaging techniques for the detection of early PsA; the criteria for dermatologist to refer patients with PsO to rheumatologist; the criteria for the diagnosis of PsA; the selection of the indices that the dermatologist could use for measuring the activity and severity of PsA in clinical practice; when systemic steroids and/or intra-articular steroid injections are indicated in the treatment of PsA. Finally, systemic treatments including synthetic and biologic disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs to be considered for the treatment of PsA have been reported. CONCLUSIONS The implementations of these practical recommendations could be very helpful for the management of patients with PsA in the dermatology setting including early diagnosis and treatment.

Abstract
Mesotherapy is a technique that treats locoregional pain with intradermal injection of a drug in the affected area. Its short-term efficacy was observed in patients with low back pain using both normal saline solution, if there were contraindications to drugs' use, or a cocktail of drugs (normal saline solution, lidocaine hydrochloride, and lysine acetylsalicylate), whereas only the latter provided benefit for up to three months after treatment. The aim of this study was to measure the effects of mesotherapy in patients affected by neck pain in spondylarthrosis, a common pathology in rehabilitation, associated with significant disability and increased health expenditure. One hundred patients participated in the study, of whom 50 (mean age 66.9 years) were treated with mesotherapy with a cocktail of drugs and 50 (mean age 64.7 years) with normal saline solution. Pain and disability were measured at different times (i.e. before treatment, at the end of five weeks of treatment, four weeks and 12 weeks after treatment), by using different pain scales, including a visual analogue scale, the short-form McGill pain questionnaire, the Present Pain Intensity scale and the Neck Disability Index. Mesotherapy with either normal saline solution or with a cocktail of drugs were both found to be effective in the short term in reducing pain and disability. However, only patients treated with a cocktail of drugs showed improvement at three months following treatment.

Abstract
Background In spite the instinct social&financial impact of Leg Length Discrepancy (LLD), controversial and conflicting results still exist regarding a reliable assessment/correction method. For proper management it's essential to discriminate between anatomical&functional Leg Length Discrepancy (FLLD). With the newly invented NPoS (New Postural Solution), under the umbrella of the collaboration of PRM Department, Tor Vergata University with Baro Postural Instruments srl, positive results were observed in both measuring& compensating the hemi-pelvic antero-medial rotation in FLLD through personalized bilateral heel raise using two NPoS components: Foot Image System (FIS) and Postural Optimizer System (POS). This led our research interest to test the validity of NPoS as a preliminary step before evaluating its implementations in postural disorders. Methods After clinical evaluation, 4 subjects with FLLD have been assessed by NPoS. Over a period of 2 months, every subject was evaluated 12 times by two different operators, 48 measurements in total, results have been verified in correlation to BTS GaitLab results. Results Intra-Operator&inter-operator variability analysis showed statistically insignificant differences, while inter-method variability between NPoS and BTS parameters expressed a linear correlation. Conclusion Results suggest a significant validity of NPoS in assessment&correction of FLLD, with high degree of reproducibility with minimal operator dependency. This can be considered a base for promising clinical implications of NPoS as a reliable cost effective postural assessment/corrective tool. Level of evidence V.

Abstract
PURPOSE To cross-culturally translate the Multiple Sclerosis Spasticity Scale into Italian and to evaluate its psychometric properties in patients with multiple sclerosis. METHODS The Italian version of Multiple Sclerosis Spasticity Scale was developed in accordance with international standards and subsequently administered to 232 Italian adults with multiple sclerosis. The following psychometric properties were analyzed: internal consistency through Cronbach's α and item-to-total correlation, dimensionality with factor analysis, and convergent and criterion validity through hypotheses-testing, comparing the Multiple Sclerosis Spasticity Scale with other outcome measures (Fatigue Severity Scale, Multiple Sclerosis Quality of Life, Modified Ashworth Scale, Barthel Index, and Expanded Disability Status Scale) and analyzing related constructs. Finally, we correlated the MSSS-88 subscales with each other. RESULTS The final Multiple Sclerosis Spasticity Scale version was well-understood by all subjects. The internal consistency was good (Cronbach's α ≥0.90). Factor analysis revealed that each subscale was unidimensional. Convergent and criterion validity were supported by acceptable correlations with other disease-specific questionnaires, according to the a priori expectations. CONCLUSIONS The final Italian Multiple Sclerosis Spasticity Scale version showed robust psychometric properties. Therefore, it can be recommended as an assessment tool for clinical and research use to evaluate spasticity in Italian patients with multiple sclerosis. Implications for rehabilitation The Multiple Sclerosis Spasticity Scale was developed to measure patients' perception of the impact of spasticity on life of subjects with multiple sclerosis. In a sample of Italian subjects with multiple sclerosis, the Multiple Sclerosis Spasticity Scale revealed good internal consistency and convergent and criterion validity. Factor analysis demonstrated that each subscale was unidimensional. Each subscale can be used to assess the impact of spasticity in Italian patients with multiple sclerosis.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Skin diseases caused by mites and insects living in domestic environments have been rarely systematically studied. OBJECTIVES To study patients with dermatitis induced by arthropods in domestic environment describing their clinical features, isolating culprit arthropods and relating the clinical features to the parasitological data. METHODS The study was performed in 105 subjects with clinical and anamnestic data compatible with the differential diagnosis of ectoparasitoses in domestic environments. Clinical data and arthropods findings obtained by indoor dust direct examination were studied. RESULTS Indoor dust direct examination demonstrated possible arthropods infestation in 98 subjects (93.3%), more frequently mites (56.1%) (mainly Pyemotes ventricosus and Glycyphagus domesticus) than insects (43.9%) (mainly Formicidae and Bethylidae). Strophulus (46.9%) and urticaria-like eruption (36.7%) in upper limbs and trunk with severe extent were prevalent. Itch was mostly severe (66.3%) and continuous (55.1%). Ectoparasitoses occurred frequently with acute course in summer (44.9%) and spring (30.6%). CONCLUSIONS Possible correlation between clinical and aetiological diagnosis of arthropods ectoparasitoses in domestic environments needs the close cooperation between dermatologist and parasitologist. This is crucial to successfully and definitely resolve skin lesions by eradicating the factors favouring infestation.

Abstract
Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease with systemic involvement that might predispose to many psoriasis-related comorbidities, such as metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular disorders. Clusterin (Clu), also known as apolipoprotein J (ApoJ), is a highly conserved disulfide-linked heterodimeric glycoprotein implicated in a great variety of physiological and pathophysiological processes including lipid transportation, tissue remodeling, senescence, cell interaction, stress response, inflammation, apoptosis, diabetes mellitus and metabolic syndrome. Serum levels of Clu were assessed in 15 patients with moderate-to-severe psoriasis defined by the presence of a Psoriasis Area and a Severity Index (PASI) value of 10 or more. It was found that the Clu value was significantly higher in patients than in healthy subjects (p <0.001). Our data confirm that the association of psoriatic disease with some comorbidities, especially metabolic and cardiovascular disease, might support the correlation with increased circulating Clu. In particular, it should be pointed out that, according to the recent literature, the Clu could also have a protective role in the comorbidity of psoriasis patients. In addition, it has been published that Clu protects cardiomyocytes against ischemic cell death and is a potential therapeutic agent in the treatment of myocardial infarction; therefore it can be assumed that an artificial enhancement of Clu in the blood could limit the severity of damage also in respect to skin lesions. Although the increase in serum level of Clu was found in all patients with psoriasis, more studies on a larger cohort of patient samples is necessary to confirm the significance of high serum levels of clusterin/ApoJ and to suggest the use of this glycoprotein as an additional new marker in psoriasis pathogenesis. It could be a possibility to improve the prognosis in patients with psoriasis.

Abstract
Acrylates and methacrylates are a large group of chemically reactive monomers that are polymerized into acrylic plastics. These have very broad applications in glues, coatings and various plastic materials. Allergic contact dermatitis (ACD) caused by acrylates can be occupational, mainly in dentistry workers during the manufacturing and implantation of dental prosthesis, and in nail technicians during the sculpturing and application of artificial nails. The clinical manifestations vary according to the location of the contact. In non-occupational ACD, hand eczema, pulpitis and stomatitis are more frequent. We conducted a study to investigate the frequency of sensitization to acrylates, determining the most frequently sensitizing acrylates and assessing the possible role of 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (2-HEMA) as a screening allergen. From January 2013 to December 2014, 217 patients with a personal history and symptoms suggestive of contact dermatitis were patch tested with an extended series of acrylates at the Dermatology and Allergology Units of the University Hospital of Bari. Seven patients (3.2%) had positive reactions. The reactions were related to artificial nails in 2 patients (28.6%), both beauticians, and dental material in 5 patients (71.4%) with dental prosthesis. 2-HEMA detected 100%of sensitized patients to acrylates.

Abstract
AIM Rehabilitation services for disabled persons are lacking in countries with limited economic resources. Reliable and objective data are needed to plan for their implementation and to determine the burden of disability in these countries. METHODS A descriptive cross-sectional study conducted in June 2013 among people living in Dschang Health District, in the West region of Cameroon, to collect information about socio-demographic aspects of physically disabled subjects and health determinants of disabilities. Data was collected using a standard questionnaire in French. RESULTS In total, 159 physically disabled subjects were enrolled in the study. Mean age was 36 years [± SD 17.26], 55.9% of subjects were female, and 33.8% had a low educational-level. The most frequently reported disabilities were orthopaedic problems (mainly fractures) [45.8%], infectious diseases [29.1%]), and neurological disabilities (mainly hemiplegia [33.3%], hemiparesis [23.8%], and monoplegia [23.8%]). The main causes of disability were trauma due to traffic accidents (17.8%) and inappropriate medical interventions (14.5%). Disability was related to age and 50% of participants experienced social discrimination. Disabled subjects with low-incomes (from 50.000 to 200.000 XAF) were required to pay for rehabilitative care (XAF 10.000 to 100.000), and up to 83% had appealed for improved quality of Rehabilitation Medicine. CONCLUSION Although Law n. 83/013 for the protection of persons with disabilities in Cameroon dates back to 1983, the results of this study show that disabled people, and children in particular, are still marginalized, vulnerable and have little chance of recovery. Therefore, there is a clear need to improve the quality and availability of rehabilitative care services , with programmatic interventions that ensure implementation of existing laws, improve access to rehabilitative services, provide disabled persons with the necessary specialty medical products, and eliminate barriers to their social participation.

Abstract
Psoriasis is a common disease, which has a considerable impact on the healthcare system. Therefore, appropriate use of therapeutic resources is very important. Management of psoriasis in daily clinical practice is highly variable because many issues are still debated and not definitely addressed by the evidence-based medicine. Moreover, the different availability and reimbursability of drugs in each country justifies national guidelines. Expert consensus can provide helpful guidelines for optimizing patient care. A total of 20 dermatologists from different areas of Italy and with large experience in the treatment of psoriasis agreed to participate in the guidelines expert panel who aimed to reach consensus on the factors influencing psoriasis severity, the indications for systemic treatments, the parameters to be considered in the choice of treatment, and the factors to be considered in the choice of biological treatment. The recommendations for the use, screening and monitoring of systemic therapies were based on the 2015 S3 European Dermatology Forum/European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology psoriasis guidelines. Recommendations on the treatment of psoriasis in special patient populations were also agreed. The final document was discussed in a meeting moderated by a facilitator with participation of the entire group and adopting a nominal group technique to reach consensus. A statement was regarded as consented when agreement was achieved by at least 75% of the voting experts according to the Delphi procedure.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To explore the amount of practice and progression during task-oriented circuit training (TOCT) in chronic stroke survivors; to test the use of pedometers and observation-based measures in detecting step activity; to verify the possible correlation between step activity and locomotor function improvements. METHODS Six community-dwelling chronic stroke survivors underwent 10 TOCT sessions (2 hours/each) over 2 weeks in which they were trained both on a treadmill and on six task-oriented workstations (W1-W6). During the sessions, they wore a piezoelectric pedometer and step activities were recorded. Outcome measures were as follows: % of activities during which pedometers worked properly; pedometer-based measures (total step counts, treadmill steps, workstation steps-total and W2,W3,W5,W6); observation-based measures (number of repetitions in task W1 and W4); walking speed changes measured by the 10-m walking test (10MWT) and walking endurance changes (6-minute walking test) after TOCT. RESULTS During TOCT sessions (n=57), activities were recorded through pedometer-based measures in 4 out of the 6 patients. The total amount of step activity was 5,980.05±1,968.39 steps (54.29% in task-oriented workstations, 37.67% on treadmill, and 8.03% during breaks). Exercise progression was highlighted significantly by observational measures (W1, W4). A positive correlation was observed between increased gait speed and observational stair step repetitions progression (W1) (r=0.91, p=0.01) or pedometer-based tandem exercise step progression (W3) (r=0.98, p=0.01). CONCLUSION TOCT can be considered a high-intensity, progressive intervention to restore locomotor function in chronic stroke survivors. Abstract
Introduction/Objective. Patient-reported outcomes have been recognized as an important way of assessing health and well-being of patients with multiple sclerosis (MS). The aim of the study is to determine the correlation between different subscales of Patient-Reported Impact of Spasticity Measure (PRISM) and Multiple Sclerosis Spasticity Scale (MSSS-88) scales in the estimation of spasticity influence on different domains Methods. The study is a cross-sectional observational study. MSSS-88 and PRISM scales were analyzed in five domains (body-function domain, activity domain, participation domain, personal factors/wellbeing domain, and hypothesis). For statistical interpretation of the correlation we performed the Spearman?s ?-test, concurrent validity, divergent validity, and the linear regression model. Results. We found a significant correlation between subscales of evaluated MSSS-88 and PRISM scales for body domains; the highest correlation was between the need for assistance/positioning (NA/P) and walking (W). Spasticity has the weakest correlation with the need for intervention (NI). The presence of pain has a negative impact and significant positive correlation between pain discomfort and NI. In the domain of body function for males, there was a non-significant correlation between muscle spasms and NI. The same applies for social functioning and social embarrassment domains, as well as for emotional health and psychological agitation for personal factors / wellbeing domain. The differences between genders of MS patients persist in different domains; muscle spasms are strong predictors for NI, and body movement is a strong predictor versus W for NA/P. Conclusion. MSSS-88 and PRISM scales can be considered reliable in measuring different domains of disability for MS patients with spasticity. Because it is shorter, quicker, and simple to use, it is concluded that the PRISM scale can successfully compete with and replace the MSSS-88 scale in certain domains.

Abstract
BACKGROUND As for hand eczema, the aetiology of foot eczema is multifactorial and not very well understood. The aim of the present study was to identify factors associated with foot eczema in a cohort of hand eczema patients being classified into different subgroups. METHODS Associations between foot and hand eczema were studied in a cross-sectional design in a cohort of hand eczema patients. Consecutive patients were recruited from nine different European Centres during the period October 2011-September 2012. Data on demographic factors, presence of foot eczema, hand eczema duration and severity, and whether the hand eczema was work-related or not were available, as well as patch-test results. RESULTS Of a total of 427 hand eczema patients identified, information on foot eczema was available in 419 patients who were included in the present study. A total of 125 patients (29.8%) had concomitant foot and hand eczema. It was found more often in association with hyperkeratotic hand eczema (P = 0.007) and was less often associated with irritant hand eczema (P < 0.001). However, foot eczema was nevertheless found in 18% of patient with irritant hand eczema and in 25% of patients with occupational hand eczema. Combined foot and hand eczema was associated with more severe and long-standing hand eczema (P < 0.001 and P = 0.004, respectively). Contact allergy was found in 51.8% with no difference between patients with combined foot and hand eczema and patients with hand eczema only. CONCLUSION Occurrence of combined foot and hand eczema is a common finding and not restricted to endogenous hand eczema.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The Tampa Scale of Kinesiophobia (TSK) is a commonly-used measure for the assessment of fear of movement beliefs in chronic complaints, but its responsiveness in subjects after lumbar fusion has been never reported. AIM Evaluating the responsiveness and minimal clinically important differences (MCIDs) for the TSK and its subscales after lumbar fusion. DESIGN Population-based cohort study. SETTING Secondary care rehabilitation hospital. POPULATION In-patients undergoing rehabilitation after lumbar fusion. METHODS At the beginning and end of a four-week motor and cognitive-behavioral rehabilitation program, 180 patients completed the TSK. After the intervention, the global perceived effect (GPE) was analyzed to produce a dichotomous outcome (improved vs. stable). Responsiveness for the TSK and its subscales were calculated by distribution (effect size [ES], standardized response mean [SRM]) and anchor-based methods (receiver operating characteristics (ROC) curves; correlations between change scores of the TSK and its subscales and GPE). ROC curves were also used to compute MCID values. RESULTS The ES ranged from 1.63 to 1.77 and the SRM from 1.25 to 1.39 for TSK and its subscales. The ROC analyses revealed a value of area under the curve (0.999 [95% CI: 0.978; 1.000], 0.998 [95% CI: 0.975; 1.000], 0.990 [95% CI: 0.962; 0.999] for the TSK, Harm and Activity Avoidance subscales, respectively). MCID values greater than 6 (95% CI: >5; >6), 4 (95% CI: >3; >5), and 2 (95% CI: >2; >2) were achieved for the TSK, Harm and Activity Avoidance subscales, respectively. Correlations between change scores of the TSK and its subscales and GPE were high (0.786-0.830). CONCLUSIONS The TSK and its subscales were sensitive in detecting clinical changes in subjects undergoing rehabilitation after lumbar fusion. CLINICAL REHABILITATION IMPACT The obtained MCID values will help in the design of future randomized controlled trials and in the interpretation of the clinical impact of a rehabilitation program after lumbar fusion.

Abstract
Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) exhibit an important function in extracellular matrix degradation. MMPs modulate the activation of growth factors, cytokines and metastasis. At present, the effect of exercise on serum levels of MMP-2 and -9 remains unclear. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of various physical activities on the circulating levels of MMP-2 and -9 in breast cancer (BC) survivors and healthy subjects. A total of 66 female subjects were enrolled in the present study. The cohort included 46 BC survivors and 20 healthy subjects divided into 5 groups: Group A (17 BC survivors, participating in recreational dragon boat paddling), group B (14 BC survivors, participating in recreational physical activity), group C (15 sedentary BC survivors), group D (10 healthy subjects, participating in recreational physical activity) and group E (10 sedentary healthy subjects). ELISA assays revealed a significant increase in the level of circulating MMP-2 in group B compared with all other groups. Recreational physical activity increased the levels of MMP-9 in healthy subjects (group D vs. E), however, the differences were not statistically significant, while in the BC survivor groups the results were opposite, with exercise reducing MMP-9 levels (group B vs. C). Furthermore, a significant increase in MMP-2 was observed in group B lymph node metastasis-positive (N+) subjects compared with group A and C N+ subjects. Thus, the results of the present study indicate that various physical activities modulate the levels of circulating MMP-2 and -9 in BC survivors, and the same exercise program induces a different effect when undertaken by healthy subjects and BC survivors. These results may have important implications with regard to the selection of appropriate physical activities for BC survivors, leading to improvements to their survival and prevention of recurrence, as well as amelioration of physical function, quality of life and fatigue.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Hip joint diseases are common in adult population and their prevalence increases with age. Osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and femoroacetabular impingement are the most common chronic diseases in the hip joint. Viscosupplementation with exogenous hyaluronic acid (HA) is one of the most widely used conservative treatment aiming to improve synovial fluid properties and to decrease pain. There is no global consensus on the type of HA, method of injection and frequency, or on its efficacy in hip joint. METHODS We selected published data in English in the PubMed and Google Scholar electronic databases up to March 2016 about hyaluronic acid injections in hip disorders. RESULTS 26 articles were included following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. CONCLUSION There is a lack of standardization of HA injections for hip conditions. Our results suggest that this is the best conservative therapy before surgery and it can act on pain relief and function however there is no evidence to prove its ability to modify the morphological structure of the pathological hip and the natural history of the disease. There are few data about the use of HA in other hip disorders rather than osteoarthritis. The most relevant evidence seems to show the utility of HA injections in improving synovial inflammation, but only a few studies have been conducted. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE I.

PURPOSE The Tampa Scale of Kinesiophobia (TSK) is a commonly used measure for the assessment of kinesiophobia related to spinal diseases. The Italian version showed satisfactory psychometric properties, but its responsiveness has not yet been evaluated. This observational study is aimed at evaluating the responsiveness and minimal important changes (MICs) for the TSK in subjects with chronic low back pain. METHODS At the beginning and end of an 8-week multidisciplinary rehabilitation programme, 205 patients completed the TSK. After the programme, patients also completed the global perceived effect (GPE) scale, which was divided to produce a dichotomous outcome. Responsiveness was calculated by distribution [effect size (ES); standardised response mean (SRM)] and anchor-based methods [receiver-operating characteristics (ROC) curves; correlations between change scores of the TSK and GPE]. ROC curves were also used to compute the best cut-off levels between subjects with a "good" or "poor" outcome (MICs). RESULTS The ES and the SRM were 1.49 and 1.36, respectively. The ROC analyses revealed a MIC value (AUC; sensitivity; specificity) of 5.5 (0.996; 95; 97). To avoid any dependence on the baseline scores, the MIC value [area under the curve (AUC); sensitivity; and specificity] was computed also based on the percentage of change from the baseline and a value of 18 % (0.998; 97; 98 %) was obtained. The correlation between change scores of the TSK and GPE was high (0.871). CONCLUSIONS The TSK was sensitive in detecting clinical changes in subjects with chronic low back pain. We recommend taking the MICs provided into account when assessing patients' improvement or planning studies in this clinical context.

Abstract
Anisakis simplex is a nematode belonging to the Anisakidae family. The ingestion of third stage larvae in uncooked or undercooked seafood may cause human diseases known as anisakiasis and anisakidosis. A total of 400 (159 atopic and 241 non-atopic) subjects living in an area of southern Italy (Bari district) were consecutively evaluated to identify the association of some factors (sex, age, atopy, consumption of uncooked seafood and sensitization to dust mites) with the risk of Anisakis simplex sensitization. Patients were investigated on history of atopy and allergic diseases and were skin prick tested with commercial allergen extracts of Anisakis simplex, Acarus siro, Lepidoglyphus destructor, Tyrophagus putrescentiae, Glycyphagus domesticus, Euroglyphus maynei, Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus and Dermatophagoides faunae. Our results suggest that atopic subjects have a lower risk of Anisakis allergy than non-atopic subjects and show the association of Anisakis simplex sensitization with the consumption of uncooked seafood (anchovies and squid), increasing age and sensitization to Glycyphagus domesticus.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES The aim of the current study is to collect scientific data on all branded hyaluronic acid (HA) products in Italy that are in use for intra-articular (IA) injection in osteoarthritis (OA) compared with that reported in the leaflet. METHODS An extensive literature research was performed for all articles reporting data on the IA use of HA in OA. Selected studies were taken into consideration only if they are related to products based on HAs that are currently marketed in Italy with the specific joint indication for IA use in patients affected by OA. RESULTS Sixty-two HA products are marketed in Italy: 30 products are indicated for the knee but only 8 were proved with some efficacy; 9 products were effective for the hip but only 6 had hip indication; 7 products proved to be effective for the shoulder but only 3 had the indication; 5 products proved effective for the ankle but only one had the indication; 6 products were effective for the temporomandibular joint but only 2 had the indication; only 2 proved effective for vertebral facet joints but only 1 had the indication; and 5 products proved effective for the carpometacarpal joint but only 2 had the indication. CONCLUSIONS There are only a few products with some evidences, while the majority of products remain without proof. Clinicians and regulators should request postmarketing studies from pharmaceuticals to corroborate with that reported in the leaflet and to gather more data, allowing the clinicians to choose the adequate product for the patient.
