Abstract
Objective: To investigate the clinical features, imaging findings and prognosis of idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH) patients complicated with iron deficiency anemia (IDA). Methods: A total of 307 cases of IIH patients hospitalized in Beijing Tongren Hospital were retrospectively screened between January 1, 2011 and February 28, 2018. There were 49 anemia cases (15.96%) and 45 IDA cases (14.66%), respectively. Finally, 36 IDA patients were enrolled. The clinical characteristics, imaging findings, treatment and prognosis of these patients were analyzed. Results: IIH combined with IDA was more common in women of childbearing age (34/36). There were 30 obese and overweight cases (83.33%), with multiple subacute or chronic course of disease. The visual symptoms in the early IIH patients were first diagnosed in the Department of Ophthalmology. The first symptom was headache with/without visual symptoms (27 cases (75%)). Head MRI detected empty sella or partial empty sella, and 2 cases of venous sinus thrombosis were found in DSA examination. Of the 34 female patients, 24 had simple menometrorrhagia or menstrual disorder. All patients were given methyl acetate to reduce the intracranial pressure and iron therapy. Five patients received low molecular weight heparin-warfarin sequential treatment, 5 cases underwent gynecologic surgery and 2 male cases received hemorrhoid operation. There were 7 cases underwent lumbar cisterna-peritoneal shunt for visual impairment. During the follow-up, intracranial pressure decreased and visual function of patients improved significantly. Conclusions: IIH is frequently found in obese or overweight women at childbearing age and IDA may be an important cause of IIH. IIH can cause serious irreversible visual impairment. Therefore, early identification and active treatment should be performed. Correction of anemia can significantly improve the clinical symptoms of IIH. Operation should be employed for IIH patients with poor visual function or rapid progress, in order to reduce intracranial pressure and improve prognosis as soon as possible.

Abstract
BACKGROUND High hepatitis B virus (HBV) DNA level is strongly associated with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) development in chronic HBV infection. The aim of this study was to investigate the association between intrahepatic HBV DNA titer and post-liver transplantation (LT) prognosis for HBV-related HCC (HBV-HCC) patients. METHODS A total of 60 patients with HBV-HCC who underwent LT were retrospectively studied. Using quantitative TaqMan fluorescent real-time polymerase chain reaction assay, HBV total DNA (tDNA) and covalently closed circular DNA (cccDNA) were both quantified in tumor tissue (TT) and adjacent non-tumor tissue (ANTT) from the explanted liver. RESULTS The loads of tDNA and cccDNA in ANTT were associated with serum HBV DNA levels. Multivariate analysis showed that the presence of vascular invasion and cccDNA in TT were independent risk factors for tumor recurrence. The group of patients with cccDNA titers ≥31ogl0 copies/μg in TT had significantly higher cumulative recurrence rates than those with <31ogl0 copies/μg group. The cccDNA titers predicted the tumor recurrence with an area under the receiver operating characteristic curve of 0.664. CONCLUSIONS Our findings would assist the clinical implementation of a more personalized therapy for tumor recurrence control and improve the prognosis of HBV-HCC patients.

Abstract
Crystallite aluminosilicates are inorganic microporous materials with well-defined pore-size and pore-structures, and have important industrial applications, including gas adsorption and separation, catalysis, etc. Crystallite aluminosilicates are commonly synthesized via hydrothermal processes, where the oligomerization of silicic acids is crucial. The mechanisms for the oligomerization of poly-silicic acids in neutral aqueous solution were systematically investigated by extensive first-principles-based calculations. We showed that oligomerization of poly-silicic acid molecules proceeds through the lateral attacking and simultaneously proton transfer from the approaching molecule for the formation of a 5-coordinated Si species as the transition state, resulting in the ejection of a water molecule from the formed poly-silicic acid. The barriers for this mechanism are in general more plausible than the conventional direct attacking of poly-silicic acid with reaction barriers in the range of 150–160 kJ/mol. The formation of linear or branched poly-silicic acids by intermolecular oligomerization is only slightly more plausible than the formation of cyclic poly-silicic acids via intramolecular oligomerization according to the reaction barriers (124.2–133.0 vs. 130.6–144.9 kJ/mol). The potential contributions of oligomer structures, such as the length of the linear oligomers, ring distortions and neighboring linear branches, etc., to the oligomerization were also investigated but found negligible. According to the small differences among the reaction barriers, we proposed that kinetic selectivity of the poly-silicic acids condensation would be weak in neutral aqueous solution and the formation of zeolite-like structures would be thermodynamics driven.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Atopic dermatitis (AD) is the most common skin disorder in infancy. However, the diagnosis and definite significance of infantile AD remains a debated issue. OBJECTIVE To analyse the phenotypes of AD in infancy, to establish diagnostic criteria and to estimate the prevalence of this condition in China. METHODS This is a multicentric study, in which 12 locations were chosen from different metropolitan areas of China. Following careful and complete history-taking and skin examination, the definite diagnosis of AD was made and the severity based on the SCORAD index was determined by local experienced dermatologists. Based on the detailed phenotyping, the major and representative clinical features of infantile AD were selected to establish the diagnostic criteria and evaluate their diagnostic efficacy. RESULTS A total of 5967 infants were included in this study. The overall point prevalence of AD was 30.48%. The infantile AD developed as early as at the second month of life, and its incidence peaked in the third month of life at 40.81%. The proportion of mild, moderate and severe AD was 67.40%, 30.57% and 2.03%, respectively. The most commonly seen manifestations in the infantile AD were facial dermatitis (72.07%), xerosis (42.72%) and scalp dermatitis (27.93%). We established the novel diagnostic criteria of infants, which included: (i) onset after 2 weeks of birth; (ii) pruritus and/or irritability and sleeplessness comparable with lesions; and (iii) all two items above with one of the following items can reach a diagnosis of AD: (i) eczematous lesions distributed on cheeks and/or scalp and/or extensor limbs, and (ii) eczematous lesions on any other parts of body accompanied by xerosis. CONCLUSIONS In China, the prevalence of AD in infancy is 30.48% according to clinical diagnosis of dermatologists. The novel Chinese diagnostic criteria for AD in infants show a higher sensitivity and comparable specificity.

Abstract
A bimetallic–organic porous material (Cu/Co-BTC) with a paddle-wheel structure has been successfully synthesized by a solvothermal approach. The as-synthesized materials were characterized by XRD, SEM, ICP-AES, UV-Vis, TGA and N2 adsorption at 77 K. The prepared Cu/Co-BTC samples were investigated in thiophene (TP) adsorption from model gasolines by the fixed bed adsorption method at 298 K. The results showed that only a small amount of Co could be successfully introduced into the framework of HKUST-1, and the introduction of Co had little effect on the crystalline structure, morphology, porosity, and thermal stability. The bimetallic Cu/Co-BTC with a Cu/Co ratio of 174 displayed significantly improved adsorption desulfurization performance, showing an increase in breakthrough volume by 30% compared with HKUST-1, implying that the central metal in the MOF plays an important role in adsorption desulfurization. The addition of toluene or cyclohexene (3.20–3.30 vol%) as a competitor in the model gasoline led to a decline in desulfurization performance, especially when cyclohexene was added. The bimetallic Cu/Co-BTC showed a slight loss in breakthrough volume by only 5% after regenerating 7 times, displaying an excellent regeneration property. The adsorbent Cu/Co-BTC-174 exhibited the largest breakthrough sulfur capacity, with an improvement by 30% in comparison to HKUST-1.![]()

Abstract
Objective: To analyze the clinical and immunological characteristics of acute severe bilateral optic neuritis, and to explore the predictive factors of vision outcome and relapse so as to save visual function and avoid or alleviate vision disability. Methods: Forty-eight inpatients confirmed with acute severe bilateral optic neuritis from January 2013 to June 2015 were included and followed up. The clinical features, immunological findings, optic nerve imaging, visual function outcome and predictors of relapse were statistically analyzed. Results: Acute severe bilateral optic neuritis accounted for 7.3% of the total number of optic neuritis in the same period. There were 35 cases (72.9%) with monophasic course, and 13 cases (27.1%) with recurrence or other central nervous system involvement during the follow-up period; 11 (22.9%) in 48 patients with positive AQP4-IgG; AQP4-IgG-positive patients had a higher recurrence rate (P<0.001) and poorer visual function prognosis (P=0.034) than antibody-negative patients; the baseline visual acuity (P=0.004), early treatment response (P=0.012) and number of involved optic nerve segments (P=0.016) were associated with end point visual function. Positive AQP4-IgG(OR 13.486, 95% CI 1.971-16.263)and combining with other autoimmune antibodies (OR 5.591, 95% CI 1.502-15.621)were independently associated with relapse. Conclusions: Acute severe bilateral optic neuritis is not unusual and may cause blindness or visual disability. The positive rate of AQP4-IgG and the recurrence rate of the disease are low in our study. The necessity for long-term immunotherapy requires individual consideration. The baseline visual acuity, involved segment number of optic nerve and response to early treatment are associated with prognosis of visual function. Patients with AQP4-IgG positive and other autoimmune antibodies are easy to relapse. Whether the antibody-negative bilateral optic neuritis is a heterogeneous disease and the relationship with classic NMO or NMOSD deserve further research.

Abstract
Intercalation and in situ formation of three fluorescent complexes, Al(III)-, Cr(III)- and Cu(II)-10-hydroxybenzo[h]quinolone (M-HBQ, M = Al, Cr and Cu), in the interlayer spaces of magadiite (mag) were studied by solid-solid reactions between metal ions exchanged mags (M-mag, M = Al, Cr and Cu) and HBQ. Results show that the basal spacings of the intercalated composites increase after the intercalation of HBQ into M-mags. The amount of HBQ in the intercalated compounds is different due to the amount of metal ions and the diversification of coordination ability of metal ions, and the order of the coordination ability of these three metal ions is Cu2+ > Cr3+ > Al3+. The amount of the metal cations in the interlayer of mag is enough for the in situ complex formation of M-HBQ complexes. The slight shift of the absorption and luminescence bands of the complexes suggests the different microstructures, including molecular packing of the complexes in the interlayer spaces of mags, resulting that the host-guest interactions are formed. These findings show that the intercalation and in situ formation of M-HBQ complexes (M = Al, Cr and Cu) in the interlayer space of mag are successfully achieved in the current work.

Abstract
Surface modification of a layered silicate magadiite (mag) was accomplished using cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB), copper oxide (CuO) and zinc oxide (ZnO). All the ions were intercalated using an ion-exchange reaction, and CuO and ZnO are prepared by a precipitation method. A precursor of CTAB modified mag enables good dispersion of the metal oxide on the surface of the lamellas. Characterization techniques (XRD, XRF, TGA, FTIR and XPS spectroscopy) confirmed that CuO and ZnO are homogeneously immobilized onto the silicate sheets of mag. The porosity of the products was explored by BET analysis. SEM and TEM provided the visualization of CuO/ZnO, which were in a good morphology and uniformly distributed on the platelets of the modified mag. Consequently, hybrids with well dispersed metal oxides showed unique properties in photoluminescence and magnetism compared to the metal oxide in the bulk state. The formation mechanism of the synthesis of CuO and ZnO decorated mag was further studied, which can give suggestion for fabricating other metal oxide decorated layered silicates. The significance of this current work is the fact that it provides a new method to prepare well dispersed metal oxides using an easy and flexible precipitation method that can be applied to other layered materials and metal oxides.

Abstract
Objective: To explore the clinical characteristics and prognosis of chronic relapsing inflammatory optic neuropathy (CRION). Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted. Clinical features, disease course, prognosis and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of patients with CRION who were admitted to Department of Neurology between 2014 and 2016 were reviewed and analyzed. Results: Totally, there were 27 patients (10 males and 17 females), with an age range of 17-59 years. The disease duration was between 40 days and 8 years. There were 2 to 9 CRION episodes. The mean frequency of CRION episodes was 3.30±1.56. The outcome of visual acuity showed that the more episodes frequency was, the worse outcome became. There was 25 abnormal optic nerve signals in MRI. And in 22 cases, the abnormal signals were in intraorbital segment or inner pipe section. The antinuclear antibodies (ANA) titers were elevated in 5 patients. Five cases relapsed during reduction or withdrawal of steroids, but steroids was not added in time. The final outcome of these 5 patients was poor. Conclusions: CRION was more common in female than male patients. Most patients were companied by pain, and the lesions were more common in the intraorbital segment of optic nerve. The more episode frequency was, the worse prognosis became. If a relapse happened, steroids or other immunosuppressive agents should be used.

Abstract
Hierarchical VOOH hollow spheres with low crystallinity composed of nanoparticles were prepared by a facile and template-free method, which involved a precipitation of precursor microspheres in aqueous solution at room temperature and subsequent hydrothermal reaction. Quasi-solid-state symmetric and asymmetric supercapacitor (SSC and ASC) devices were fabricated using hierarchical VOOH hollow spheres as the electrodes, and the electrochemical properties of the VOOH//VOOH SSC device and the VOOH//AC ASC device were studied by cyclic voltammetry (CV), galvanostatic charge-discharge (GCD) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). Results demonstrated that the electrochemical performance of the VOOH//AC ASC device was better than that of the VOOH//VOOH SSC device. After 3000 cycles, the specific capacitance of the VOOH//AC ASC device retains 83% of the initial capacitance, while the VOOH//VOOH SSC device retains only 7.7%. Findings in this work proved that hierarchical VOOH hollow spheres could be a promising candidate as an ideal electrode material for supercapacitor devices.

Abstract
Calcein-Ca (II), Zn (II) and Al (III) complexes were successfully intercalated into interlayer surfaces of layered silicate magadiite and fluorescence properties of organic metal-chelates in the confined spaces were investigated. Structures, compositions and morphologies of the intercalated magadiites were adequately studied by tests, including X-ray diffraction, energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometer, elemental mapping, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy, Fourier-transform infrared spectra, ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy, thermo-gravimetric analysis, differential thermal analysis and scanning electron microscopy. Results confirmed that metal-organic chelate species were immobilized onto the silicate sheets via solid-state interaction. Basal spacings between silicate layers decreased by exchanged metal ions and increased after intercalation of calcein into the interlayer spaces of cation-exchanged magadiites. The encapsulation was obtained by a flexible solid-solid reaction, and the present reaction and products had a potential of application to industrial uses. A speculative mechanism was proposed for reaction by solid-state intercalation. Furthermore, it was found that the complexes in the interlayer space also exhibited special fluorescence properties. The significance of this current work was that it provided a possible route for synthesizing metal-organic complexes that encapsulated in phyllosilicate.

Abstract
Zeolites Na-A and Na-X are important synthetic zeolites widely used for separation and adsorption in industry. It is of great significance to develop energy-efficient routines that can synthesize zeolites Na-A and Na-X from low-cost raw materials. Coal fly ash (CFA) is the major residue from the combustion of coal and biomass containing more than 85% SiO2 and Al2O3, which can readily replace the conventionally used sodium silicate and aluminate for zeolite synthesis. We used Na2CO3 to replace the expensive NaOH used for the calcination of CFA and showed that tablet compression can enhance the contact with Na2CO3 for the activation of CFA through calcination for the synthesis of zeolites Na-A and Na-X under mild conditions. We optimized the control variables for zeolite synthesis and showed that phase-pure zeolite Na-A can be synthesized with CFA at reactant molar ratio, hydrothermal reaction temperature and reaction time of 1.3Na2O: 0.6Al2O3: 1SiO2: 38H2O at 80°C for 6 h, respectively, while phase-pure zeolite Na-X can be synthesized at 2.2Na2O: 0.2Al2O3: 1SiO2: 88H2O at 100°C for 8 h, respectively. The composition, morphology, specific surface area, vibration spectrum and thermogravimetry of synthesized Na-A and Na-X were further characterized.
