Abstract
Psychostimulants and alcohol are widely abused substances with the adverse effects on global public health. Substance abuse seriously harms people's health and causes various diseases, especially neurodegenerative diseases. Neurodegenerative diseases include Alzheimer's disease (AD), Parkinson's disease (PD), and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). The pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases is complex and diverse, usually involving oxidative stress, mitochondrial dysfunction, metal homeostasis disorder, and neuro-inflammation. The precise molecular mechanisms underlying neurodegeneration remain unclear, which is a major obstacle to therapeutic approaches. Therefore, it is urgent to improve the understanding of the molecular mechanisms of neurodegenerative processes and to identify the therapeutic targets for treatment and prevention. Ferroptosis is a regulatory cell necrosis caused by iron ion catalysis and lipid peroxidation induced by reactive oxygen species (ROS), which is thought to be associated with nervous system diseases, particularly neurodegenerative diseases. This review overviewed the ferroptosis process and explored the relationship of ferroptosis with substance abuse and neurodegenerative diseases, which provides a new way to study the molecular mechanisms of neurodegenerative diseases induced by alcohol, cocaine, and methamphetamine (MA), and also provides the potential therapeutic targets for substance abuse-induced neurodegenerative diseases.

Abstract
Classifying many-body quantum states with distinct properties and phases of matter is one of the most fundamental tasks in quantum many-body physics. However, due to the exponential complexity that emerges from the enormous numbers of interacting particles, classifying large-scale quantum states has been extremely challenging for classical approaches. Here, we propose a new approach called quantum neuronal sensing. Utilizing a 61-qubit superconducting quantum processor, we show that our scheme can efficiently classify two different types of many-body phenomena: namely the ergodic and localized phases of matter. Our quantum neuronal sensing process allows us to extract the necessary information coming from the statistical characteristics of the eigenspectrum to distinguish these phases of matter by measuring only one qubit and offers better phase resolution than conventional methods, such as measuring the imbalance. Our work demonstrates the feasibility and scalability of quantum neuronal sensing for near-term quantum processors and opens new avenues for exploring quantum many-body phenomena in larger-scale systems.

Abstract
Unitary control changes the absorption and emission of an object by transforming the external light modes. It is widely used and underlies coherent perfect absorption. Yet two basic questions remain unanswered: For a given object under unitary control, what absorptivity α, emissivity e, and their contrast δ=e-α are attainable? How to obtain a given α, e, or δ? We answer both questions using the mathematics of majorization. We show that unitary control can achieve perfect violation or preservation of Kirchhoff's law in nonreciprocal objects, and uniform absorption or emission for any object.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The presence of a high left ventricular end-diastolic diameter (LVEDD) has been linked to a less favorable outcome in patients undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) procedures. However, by taking into consideration the reference of left ventricular size and volume measurements relative to the patient's body surface area (BSA), it has been suggested that the accuracy of the predicting outcomes may be improved. OBJECTIVE We propose that BSA weighted LVEDD (bLVEDD) is a more accurate predictor of outcomes in patients undergoing CABG compared to simply using LVEDD alone. METHODS This study was a comprehensive retrospective cohort study that was conducted across multiple medical centers. The inclusion criteria for this study were patients who were admitted for treatment between October 2016 and May 2021. Only elective surgery patients were included in the study, while those undergoing emergency surgery were not considered. All participants in the study received standard care, and their clinical data were collected through the institutional registry in accordance with the guidelines set forth by the Society of Thoracic Surgeons National Adult Cardiac Database. bLVEDD was defined as LVEDD divided by BSA. The primary outcome was in-hospital all-cause mortality (30 days), and the secondary outcomes were postoperative severe adverse events, including use of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, multiorgan failure, use of intra-aortic balloon pump, postoperative stroke, and postoperative myocardial infarction. RESULTS In total, 9474 patients from 5 centers under the Chinese Cardiac Surgery Registry were eligible for analysis. We found that a high LVEDD was a negative factor for male patients' mortality (odds ratio 1.44, P<.001) and secondary outcomes. For female patients, LVEDD was associated with secondary outcomes but did not reach statistical differences for morality. bLVEDD showed a strong association with postsurgery mortality (odds ratio 2.70, P<.001), and secondary outcomes changed in parallel with bLVEDD in male patients. However, bLVEDD did not reach statistical differences when fitting either mortality or severer outcomes in female patients. In male patients, the categorical bLVEDD showed high power to predict mortality (area under the curve [AUC] 0.71, P<.001) while BSA (AUC 0.62) and LVEDD (AUC 0.64) both contributed to the risk of mortality but were not as significant as bLVEDD (P<.001). CONCLUSIONS bLVEDD is an important predictor for male mortality in CABG, removing the bias of BSA and showing a strong capability to accurately predict mortality outcomes. Abstract
With the rapid expansion of transcriptome studies in many fishes, a great number of RNA-seq data have been published, allowing for a more systematic understanding of the general profiles and details of gene expression in fish. FishGET is dedicated to gathering and curating fish RNA-seq data to discover more new RNAs, including mRNA and lncRNA, thereby getting a more complete reference transcriptome and providing more comprehensive and accurate transcriptome annotations. We obtained a total of 1362 RNA-seq paired-end data of 8 fishes from 97 different studies, and then we performed transcript assembly, meta-assembly, weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA), functional annotations, neighbor location annotation, lncRNA type annotation, homology annotation. To promote research into fish genes at the transcriptional level, we developed a user-friendly web interface that allows users to view all information and makes use of multiple types of dynamic interactive visualization services.

Abstract
Cancer cachexia is a metabolic syndrome that is characterized by progressive loss of skeletal muscle mass, and effective therapeutics have yet to be developed. Saikosaponin D (SSD), a major bioactive component of Radix Bupleuri, exhibits antiinflammatory, anti-tumor, anti-oxidant, anti-viral, and hepatoprotective effects. In this study, we demonstrated that SSD is a promising agent for the treatment of cancer cachexia. SSD could alleviate TCM-induced myotube atrophy and inhibit the expression of E3 ubiquitin ligases muscle RING-finger containing protein-1 (MuRF1) and muscle atrophy Fbox protein (Atrogin-1/MAFbx) in vitro. Moreover, SSD suppressed the progression of cancer cachexia, with significant improvements in the loss of body weight, gastrocnemius muscle, and tibialis anterior muscle mass in vivo. Mechanism investigations demonstrated that SSD could directly bind to STAT3 and specifically inhibit its phosphorylation as well as its transcriptional activity. Overexpression of STAT3 partially abolished the inhibitory effect of SSD on myotube atrophy, indicating that the therapeutic effect of SSD was attributed to STAT3 inhibition. These findings provide novel strategies for treatment of cancer cachexia by targeting STAT3, and SSD may be a promising drug candidate for cancer cachexia.

Abstract
Onion (Allium cepa L.) is one of the most important cultivated vegetable crops in many countries, including China (Hanci 2018; Steentjes et al. 2021). Gansu, in the northwest region of China, is a major area of onion production (Zhang et al. 2022). In October 2021, typical symptoms of neck rot were observed on stored onion bulbs (cv. Honghe) in Jiuquan, Gansu Province, China. Further surveys of 20 bags of onion bulbs randomly selected in a storage facility with bulbs harvested from 73 ha indicated that approximately 5% of the bulbs had typical neck rot symptoms. The neck of infected bulbs developed a water-soaked decay, with softened and discolored inner scales with white to gray mycelium in the neck. Infection usually began in the neck and sometimes spread through the entire bulb. In severely affected bulbs, the fleshy scales were span style="font-family:'Times New Roman'">decayed and the bulbs had shrunk, with black sclerotia between the rotting scales in the neck and shoulders of the bulb. Small pieces cut from the margins of lesions were surface-disinfested with 75% ethanol for 10 s, and 1% NaClO for 1 min, rinsed three times in sterile distilled water, dried on sterile filter paper, placed onto potato dextrose agar (PDA), and incubated at 20 ± 1℃ for 5 days in the dark. Ten pure cultures were obtained by single-spore isolation (one from each of 10 bulbs). All 10 isolates produced colonies that initially were white, and became gray to dark in color with gray mycelium that was covered with abundant conidia resembling Botrytis species when cultured on PDA at 20 ± 1℃ for 10 days in the dark. Conidia (n = 100 per isolate) were one-celled, ellipsoid or ovoid, beige to dark brown, and 5.6 to 14.8 × 3.9 to 8.5 μm. Sclerotia were not produced by any of the isolates on PDA after incubation at 20 ± 1°C for 30 days. The internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region of ribosomal DNA, glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (G3PDH) gene, heat shock protein 60 (HSP60) gene, and DNA-dependent RNA polymerase II core subunit (RPB2) gene of two representative isolates, JQ21AC03 and JQ21AC09, were amplified and sequenced with primers ITS1/ITS4, G3PDH-F/G3PDH-R, HSP60-F/HSP60-R, and RPB2-F/RPB2-R, respectively (Staats et al. 2005), and deposited in GenBank (ITS: OP604277 and OP604283; G3PDH: OP627512 and OP627515; HSP60: OP627513 and OP627516; and RPB2: OP627514 and OP627517). BLASTn analysis of the resulting sequences showed 98 to 100% similarity with those of Botrytis aclada. A maximum likelihood phylogenetic tree generated by combining the sequenced loci using MEGA11.0, clustered isolates JQ21AC03 and JQ21AC09 with B. aclada with 99% bootstrap support. Based on these results, isolates JQ21AC03 and JQ21AC09 were identified as B. aclada. Pathogenicity of the two isolates on the onion cv. Honghe was confirmed by inoculating 30 heathy onion bulbs per isolate with 100 μL of conidial suspension (1×105 conidia/ml), while control bulbs were inoculated with 100 μL sterile distilled water. All 30 bulbs inoculated with each isolates developed neck rot symptoms after 30 days incubation at 15 ± 1ºC in the dark, with symptoms identical to those observed in the original storage facility, whereas control bulbs remained symptomless. The pathogen was re-isolated from the symptomatic tissue of inoculated bulbs, fulfilling Koch's postulates. hang et al (2008) documented this pathogen causing bulb rot of onions in Wuhan, Hubei Province, 1,700 km from Gansu. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of B. aclada causing neck rot on onion bulbs in storage in Gansu Province, which is the main onion production region in China. Considering that onion is the main source of income for growers in Gansu, further studies will be required to understand the epidemiology of this disease and foster appropriate disease management measures to avert disease outbreaks in the future.

Abstract
Objectives: Pain is one of the most common and distressing symptoms co-occurring with cancer progression and treatment, and medication adherence plays an important role in achieving good pain control. However, research on medication adherence and influential factors among individuals with cancer pain (CP) is limited in China. The present study aimed to investigate the adherence to analgesics in patients with CP in China and to identify factors that may influence adherence. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted from June 2020 to February 2021. Study instruments consisted of a set of validated questionnaires, 5 measurement instruments including the numerical rating scale (NRS), ID-Pain, Morisky Medication Adherence Scale-Chinese validated version (MMAS-C), Beliefs about Medicines Questionnaire (BMQ) - Specific, and the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS). Results: A total of 141 participants with CP including 71 males (50.4%), aged 54.5±15.5 years were surveyed in this study. Overall, 83 patients (58.9%) showed adherence, but 58 patients (41.1%) showed non-adherence to analgesics. The univariate analysis showed that analgesic adherence was associated with pain duration of>3 months, outbreaks of pain in the last 24 hours, presence of side effects, getting analgesics in time, presence of neuropathic pain, stopping analgesics or adjusting dosage by themselves, presence of anxiety and depression, and beliefs about medicines. Moreover, the multivariate logistic regression showed that getting analgesic drugs in time (odds ratio [OR]=5.218, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.691-16.100) and high BMQ-Necessity (OR=1.907, 95% CI 1.418-2.565) were associated with high adherence, stopping analgesics or adjusting dosage by themselves (OR=7.958, 95% CI 2.443-25.926) and high BMQ-Concern (OR=0.760, 95% CI 0.600-0.964) were more likely to be associated with non-adherence. Conclusion: In view of our findings, it may be critical for individuals to have a better understanding and strong beliefs about their prescribed analgesic drugs. Pain education, counseling and follow-up of patients and their caregivers, and removal of barriers to accessing analgesic drugs could be considered in further intervention strategies.

Abstract
(1) Background: Topical non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are one of the primary drugs for treating musculoskeletal pain. However, there are currently no evidence-based recommendations about drug selection, drug administration, drug interactions, and use in special populations or other pharmacology-related content of such medications. To this end, the Chinese Pharmaceutical Association Hospital Pharmacy Professional Committee developed multidisciplinary guidelines on using topical NSAIDs to treat musculoskeletal pain. (2) Methods: The guidelines development process followed the World Health Organization guideline development handbook, the GRADE methodology, and the statement of Reporting Items for Practice Guidelines in Healthcare. The guideline panel used the Delphi method to identify six clinical questions to be addressed in the guidelines. An independent systematic review team conducted a systematic search and integration of evidence. (3) Results: Based on the balance between the benefits and harms of an intervention, the quality of the evidence, patient preferences and values, and resource utilization, the guideline panel developed 11 recommendations and nine expert consensuses on using topical NSAIDs to treat acute and chronic musculoskeletal pain. (4) Conclusions: Based on the effectiveness and overall safety of topical NSAIDs, we recommend patients with musculoskeletal pain use topical NSAIDs and suggest high-risk patients use topical NSAIDs, such as those with other diseases or receiving other concurrent treatments. The evidenced-based guidelines on topical NSAIDs for musculoskeletal pain incorporated a pharmacist perspective. The guidelines have the potential to facilitate the rational use of topical NSAIDs. The guideline panel will monitor the relevant evidence and update the recommendations accordingly.

Abstract
Previous studies have shown that socioeconomic status is correlated to altruistic behavior. The role of empathy as one of the motivations for altruistic behavior is gradually gaining attention among researchers. This study explores the role of empathy in the mechanisms of socioeconomic status and altruistic behavior in Chinese adolescents. A total of 253 middle school students from Northern China participated in this study, which included the dictator game and Interpersonal Relation Index. Results showed that (1) low-SES students behaved more generously than high-SES students; (2) the students were more generous to the low-SES recipients, as shown when offering them more money in the dictator game; (3) affective rather than cognitive empathy mediates the relationship between socioeconomic status and altruistic behavior. The findings provide evidence for the validation of the empathy-altruism hypothesis in a group of Chinese adolescents. Abstract
The current inverter is the core component of the helicopter transient electromagnetic (HTEM) detection system. It should meet the concerns of low loss, high power, and fast turn-OFF time. This article proposes a new circuit topology based on nine-level inverter technology to overcome the drawbacks of typical PWM (pulse width modulation) inverters, such as switching losses and harmonics. This circuit topology overcomes the shortcomings of the traditional single constant voltage clamp circuit in which the turn-OFF time is not adjustable. Using an inverter with the proposed topology is able to avoid the complex PWM control method and switching loss. In this way, the current rising edge and falling edge of this inverter are also improved effectively. The proposed inverter has adjustable turn-ON-time and turn-OFF time, which is significantly different from the conventional single-clamp inverter. Through subsequent experiments, the inverter proved to have the capability of generating trapezoidal current waveforms. Moreover, by modifying the FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) control program, three different turn-OFF times are achieved. The nine-level inverter has a peak current of 1.5 A with an adjustable turn-OFF time from 129 μs to 162 μs. Moreover, the switching frequency of the inverter is reduced from 10 kHz to below 100 Hz. The experimental results further demonstrate that it achieves lower switching losses and more flexible transmission. Our work in this article provides an efficient way to improve the performance of HTEM detection systems.

Abstract
Myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS) is characterized by unexplained debilitating fatigue, cognitive dysfunction, gastrointestinal disturbances, and orthostatic intolerance. Here, we report a multi-omic analysis of a geographically diverse cohort of 106 cases and 91 healthy controls that revealed differences in gut microbiome diversity, abundances, functional pathways, and interactions. Faecalibacterium prausnitzii and Eubacterium rectale, which are both recognized as abundant, health-promoting butyrate producers in the human gut, were reduced in ME/CFS. Functional metagenomics, qPCR, and metabolomics of fecal short-chain fatty acids confirmed a deficient microbial capacity for butyrate synthesis. Microbiome-based machine learning classifier models were robust to geographic variation and generalizable in a validation cohort. The abundance of Faecalibacterium prausnitzii was inversely associated with fatigue severity. These findings demonstrate the functional nature of gut dysbiosis and the underlying microbial network disturbance in ME/CFS, providing possible targets for disease classification and therapeutic trials.

Abstract
Objective: To explore the relationship between gene polymorphism of killer cell immunoglobulin-like receptor (KIR) and its ligand-specific human leukocyte antigen C (HLA-C) and Graves' disease (GD). Methods: Case-control study. A total of 118 unrelated GD patients (GD group) admitted to Shandong Provincial Hospital from January 2011 to December 2017 and 108 age-and sex-matched healthy controls (healthy control group) were included. The KIR genotype and its ligand HLA-C allele were detected by polymerase chain reaction sequence-specific primers (PCR-SSP). The distribution of KIR/HLA-C gene combination in GD patients and control population was analyzed to explore its association with the occurrence of GD. Results: In GD group, there were 29 males and 89 females, aged (38±14) years. In the healthy control group, there were 28 males and 80 females, aged (37±13) years. Compared with the healthy control group, the occurrence frequency of HLA-Cw01 was higher in GD group[36.4%(43/118) vs 18.5%(20/108), P=0.003], and the occurrence frequency of HLA-Cw03 and HLA-Cw06 was lower in GD group[11.9%(14/118) vs 39.8%(43/108), P<0.001; 9.3%(11/118) vs 18.5%(20/108), P=0.045]. The frequency of KIR2DL1/HLA-C2 gene combination in GD group was lower than that in control group [17.8%(21/118) vs 34.3%(37/108), P=0.005]. Logistic regression analysis showed that KIR2DL1/HLA-C2 gene combination was a protective factor for GD occurrence (OR=0.308, 95%CI: 0.126-0.752, P=0.010). Conclusions: The polymorphism of KIR/HLA-C gene is related to GD. The low expression of KIR2DL1/HLA-C2 in GD patients may be a protective factor for GD.

Abstract
Mosquitoes are a formidable reservoir of viruses and important vectors of zoonotic pathogens. Blood-fed mosquitoes have been utilized to determine host infection status, overcoming the difficulties associated with sampling from human and animal populations. Comprehensive surveillance of potential pathogens at the interface of humans, animals, and the environment is currently an accredited method to provide an early warning of emerging or re-emerging infectious diseases and to proactively respond to them. Herein we performed comprehensive sampling of mosquitoes from seven habitats (residential areas, hospital, airplane, harbor, zoo, domestic sheds, and forest park) across five cities in Guangdong Province, China. Our aim was to characterize the viral communities and blood feeding patterns at the human-animal-environment interface and analyze the potential risk of cross-species transmission using meta-transcriptomic sequencing. 1898 female adult mosquitoes were collected, including 1062 Aedes and 836 Culex mosquitoes, of which approximately 12% (n = 226) were satiated with blood. Consequently, 101 putative viruses were identified, which included DNA and RNA viruses, and positive-stranded RNA viruses (+ssRNA) were the most abundant. According to viral diversity analysis, the composition of the viral structure was highly dependent on host species, and Culex mosquitoes showed richer viral diversity than Aedes mosquitoes. Although the virome of mosquitoes from different sampling habitats showed an overlap of 39.6%, multiple viruses were specific to certain habitats, particularly at the human-animal interface. Blood meal analysis found four mammals and one bird bloodmeal source, including humans, dogs, cats, poultry, and rats. Further, the blood feeding patterns of mosquitoes were found to be habitat dependent, and mosquitoes at the human-animal interface and from forests had a wider choice of hosts, including humans, domesticated animals, and wildlife, which in turn considerably increases the risk of spillover of potential zoonotic pathogens. To summarize, we are the first to investigate the virome of mosquitoes from multiple interfaces based on the One Health concept. The characteristics of viral community and blood feeding patterns of mosquitoes at the human-animal-environment interface were determined. Our findings should support surveillance activities to identify known and potential pathogens that are pathogenic to vertebrates.

Abstract
The transition period is the stage of the high incidence of metabolic and infectious diseases in dairy cows. Improving transition dairy cows' health is crucial for the industry. This study aimed to determine the effects of dietary supplementation medium-chain fatty acids (MCFAs) on immune function, metabolic status, performance of transition dairy cows. Twenty multiparous Holstein cows randomly assigned to two treatments at 35 d before calving. 1) CON (fed the basal 2) MCFA treatment (basal diet was supplemented at an additional 20 g MCFAs mixture every day) until 70 d after calving. The results showed that the serum amyloid A myeloperoxidase concentrations in the blood of cows in MCFA treatment significantly decreased during the early lactation (from 1 d to 28 d after calving) 0.03, 0.04, respectively) compared with the CON, while the tumor necrosis factor concentration was significantly decreased at 56 d after calving (P = 0.02). In addition, the concentration of insulin in the pre-calving (from 21 d before calving to calving) blood of cows in MCFA treatment was significantly decreased (P = 0.04), and concentration of triglyceride also showed a downward trend at 28 d after calving 0.07). Meanwhile, MCFAs supplementation significantly decreased the concentrations of lithocholic acid, hyodeoxycholic acid, and hyocholic acid in the blood at 1 d calving (P = 0.02, < 0.01, < 0.01, respectively), and the level of hyocholic acid taurocholic acid concentrations (P < 0.01, = 0.01, respectively) decreased dramatically at 14 d after calving. However, compared with the CON, the pre-calving dry matter intake and the early lactation milk yield in MCFA treatment were significantly decreased (P = 0.05, 0.02, respectively). In conclusion, MCFAs supplementation transition diet could improve the immune function and metabolic status of dairy cows, and the health of transition cows might be beneficial from the endocrine status.

Abstract
Glycans recently attracted considerable attention as the proposal of cross-reactive carbohydrate determinants for food allergy. Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization-mass spectrometry (MALDI-MS) is powerful in analyzing biomolecules, while its applications in glycans are still challenging. Herein, a novel reactive matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI) matrix, 2-hydrazinoterephthalic acid, was rationally designed and synthesized. It provides uniform co-crystallization with glycans and only produces deprotonated ions with high intensities in the negative-ion mode. In combination with sinapic acid, a rapid and high-throughput method was established for on-target analysis of glycans with a superior limit of detection at the femtomole level and a good linearity (R2 > 0.999). Furthermore, the established method was successfully applied to quantify N-glycans in different cultivars and tissues of peach [Prunus persica (L.) Batsch]. Our work suggests the potential role of N-glycans as biomarkers for food-borne allergy and lays a methodological foundation for the elucidation of the possible relationship between carbohydrate epitopes and food allergy.

Abstract
ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE Tongguanteng injection (TGT), the water extract from the stem of the Traditional Chinese hebal medicine of Marsdenia tenacissima (Roxb.) Wight et Arn. has been used as anticancer remedy for decades. TGT was not only used in the treatment of many malignant cancers extensively, but also an adjuvant anticancer drug with chemotherapeutics clinically. AIM OF THE STUDY To evaluate the effects of TGT on reversing paclitaxel (PTX) resistance and investigate the potential mechanism related to TAB1 in ovarian cancer (OC) in vitro and in vivo. MATERIALS AND METHODS The synergistic effect and reversal ratio were determined by CCK8 assay and median-effect principle after the combination of TGT and PTX in OC A2780 and its PTX-resistant (A2780/T) cells. The biological functions in cell apoptosis, migration and invasion of A2780/T cells treated by PTX 4 μM with TGT 20, 40, 80 mg⋅mL-1 for 24 h were evaluated by colony formation, flow cytometry, wound healing and transwell assays. Proteomics technique and bioinformatic analysis were used to indentify the change of TAB1 expression in A2780/T cells induced by TGT. The association between TAB1 expression and human OC was analyzed by gene expression databases. In A2780/T cells, western blotting and colony formation assays were used to investigate the relationship between TAB1 expression and PTX resistance after TAB1 overexpression by TAB1 plasmids. The mechanism of TGT and PTX regulating TAB1 and its related proteins were explored by western blotting and flow cytometry assays after TAB1 knock-down using siTAB1. Moreover, TUNEL staining, immunohistochemistry (IHC) and histopathology were used to observe the antitumor effects, TAB1 and p-p38 expression and the tissues impairments in nude mice xenograft model established by A2780/T cells after the co-treatment with TGT and PTX by in vivo. RESULTS TGT combined with PTX showed the synergistic effect (CI<1), which could reverse the IC50 values of PTX in OC A2780 and A2780/T cells about 23.50 and 6.44 times, respectively. Besides, TGT combined with PTX could significantly inhibit the migration, invasion and promote apoptosis of A2780/T cells. We identified that TGT could induce TAB1 expression in A2780/T cells by proteomics analysis. TAB1 downregulation was significantly associated with tumorigenesis and poor prognosis in OC patients and PTX resistance in A2780/T cells. Furthermore, TGT could activate TAB1/TAK1/p38 MAPK signaling pathway targeting TAB1 and regulate the expression of Bax, Bcl-2 proteins to improve the sensitivity of A2780/T cells to PTX. TGT combined with PTX also showed a greater inhibition in tumor growth than PTX monotherapy in vivo. These promising results show the efficacy of TGT in reversing PTX resistance and provide a potential strategy that targeting TAB1/TAK1/p38 MAPK signaling pathway may improve the chemotherapy sensitivity in OC. CONCLUSIONS Our results revealed that Tongguanteng injection could reverse paclitaxel resistance and the potential mechanism might be associated with the activation of TAB1/TAK1/p38 MAPK signaling pathway in OC in vitro and in vivo. TAB1 might be a pivotal target for reversing PTX resistance. This study will provide a theoretical basis for the combination of Tongguanteng injection and paclitaxel in clinic.

Abstract
A nanoantioxidant of mesoporous organosilica (Trp-Met-PMO) based on the framework of tryptophan-methionine dipeptide was first designed and constructed by condensation between self-created dipeptide organosilica precursor (Trp-Met-Si) and tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) in alkaline conditions under the template hexadecyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB). Trp-Met-Si was prepared by the reaction between dipeptide Trp-Met and conventional organosilicon coupling agent isocyanatopropyltriethoxysilane (IPTES) via a multiple-step reaction method. The material Trp-Met-PMO was confirmed by XRD, FT-IR and N2 adsorption-desorption analysis. The material Trp-Met-5-PMO with low amounts of organosilica precursor remained a mesoporous material with well-ordered 2D hexagonal (P6mm) structure. With increasing amounts of organosilica precursor, a mesoporous structure was still formed, as shown in the material Trp-Met-100-PMO with the highest amounts of organosilica precursor. Moreover, pore size distribution, surface area and porosity of Trp-Met-PMO are regulated with different amounts of organosilica precursor Trp-Met-Si. The antioxidant activity of Trp-Met-PMO was evaluated by ABTS free radical-scavenging assay. The results showed that antioxidant activity was largely enhanced with increasing contents of organosilica precusor Trp-Met-Si in the skeleton. The material Trp-Met-40-PMO exhibited maximum scavenging capacity of ABTS free radicals, the inhibition percent was 5.88%. This study provides a design strategy for nanoantioxidant by immobilizing short peptides within the porous framework of mesoporous material.

Abstract
The anthracycline antibiotic doxorubicin (DOX) is an effective anticancer agent, but its clinical use is limited by dose-dependent cardiotoxicity. Scutellarin (SCU), a natural polyphenolic flavonoid, is used as a cardioprotective agent for infarction and ischemia-reperfusion injury. This study investigated the beneficial effect of SCU on DOX-induced chronic cardiotoxicity. Rats were injected intraperitoneally (i. p.) with DOX (2.5 mg/kg) twice a week for four weeks and then allowed to rest for two weeks to establish the chronic cardiotoxicity animal model. A dose of 10 mg/kg/day SCU was injected i. p. daily for six weeks to attenuate cardiotoxicity. SCU attenuated DOX-induced elevated oxidative stress levels and cardiac troponin T (cTnT), decreased left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) and fractional shortening (LVFS), elevated isovolumic relaxation time (IVRT), electrophysiology and histopathological alterations. In addition, SCU significantly attenuated DOX-induced cardiac fibrosis and reduced extracellular matrix (ECM) accumulation by inhibiting the TGF-β1/Smad2 signaling pathway. Furthermore, SCU also prevented against DOX-induced apoptosis and autophagy as evidenced by upregulation of Bcl-2, downregulation of Bax and cleaved caspase-3, inhibited the AMPK/mTOR pathway. These results revealed that the cardioprotective effect of SCU on DOX-induced chronic cardiotoxicity may be attributed to reducing oxidative stress, myocardial fibrosis, apoptosis and autophagy.

Abstract
Lily (Lilium) is an important bulbous perennial herb that is frequently infected by one or more viruses. To investigate the diversity of lily viruses, lilies with virus-like symptoms in Beijing were collected to perform small RNA deep sequencing. Then, the 12 complete and six nearly full-length viral genomes, including six known viruses and two novel viruses were determined. Based on sequence and phylogenetic analyses, two novel viruses were considered to be members of the genera Alphaendornavirus (Endornaviridae) and Polerovirus (Solemoviridae). These two novel viruses were provisionally named lily-associated alphaendornavirus 1 (LaEV-1) and lily-associated polerovirus 1 (LaPV-1). Based on sequence, phylogenetic and recombination analyses, strawberry latent ringspot virus (SLRSV) in the genus Stralarivirus (Secoviridae) was identified for the first time in China, and shown to exhibit the highest nucleotide (nt) diversity among the available full-length SLRSV genome sequences, with the highest identities of 79.5% for RNA1 and 80.9% for RNA2. Interestingly, the protease cofactor region in RNA1 was 752 aa in length, whereas those of the other 27 characterized isolates ranged from 700-719 aa in length. The genome sequences of lily virus A (Potyvirus), lily virus X (Potexvirus), and plantago asiatica mosaic virus (Potexvirus) exhibited varying degrees of sequence diversity at the nucleotide level compared with their corresponding characterized isolates. In addition, plantago asiatica mosaic virus (PlAMV) tended to cluster on a host species-basis. One identified lily mottle virus (Potyvirus) isolate was detected as a recombinant, and which clustered in a different group with four other isolates. Seven identified lily symptomless virus (Carlavirus) isolates, including one recombinant, were clustered into three clades. Our results revealed the genetic diversity of lily-infecting viruses, and sequence insertion, host species and recombination are factors that likely contribute to this diversity. Collectively, our results provide useful information regarding the control of viral disease in lily.
