Abstract
PURPOSE Our study aimed to explore the programmed death 1 (PD-1) expression on tumor-associated macrophage (TAM) in T cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (T-NHL) and its relationship with lymphoma prognosis. The effect of PD-1 expression on the function of macrophages was also studied. METHODS Multispectral image quantitative analysis was applied for detecting PD-1 expression on macrophages in T cell lymphoma tissues. The Kaplan-Meier analysis was performed to evaluate the value of PD-1 expression of TAM in predicting the overall survival of T-NHL. PD-1 overexpression THP-1-derived macrophage was constructed and was cocultured with Jurkat cells to explore the effect of PD-1 on macrophage function. RESULTS In 17 T cell lymphoma cases, the 1-year overall survival rate was significantly lower in patients with higher PD-1 expression on TAMs (0.25 vs 0.86, p < 0.05). After co-cultured with Jurkat cells, classically activated (M1)-related markers on PD-1 overexpressed macrophages were significantly lower than those on controls, while the expressions of alternatively activated (M2) related markers were similar. The PD-1 overexpressed macrophages showed inhibited phagocytosis (4.42% vs 40.7%, p < 0.001) and increased IL-10 secretion (144.48 pg/ml vs 32.32 pg/ml, p < 0.001). CONCLUSION High PD-1 expression on TAMs in T-NHL may predict poor prognosis. The PD-1 overexpression of macrophages significantly inhibited polarization of M1 macrophages and phagocytosis, and more IL-10 was excreted. These changes may enhance the pro-tumor effects of tumor microenvironment.

Abstract
In this Letter, we report the first measurement of the inelastic cross section for antideuteron-nucleus interactions at low particle momenta, covering a range of 0.3≤p<4 GeV/c. The measurement is carried out using p-Pb collisions at a center-of-mass energy per nucleon-nucleon pair of sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02 TeV, recorded with the ALICE detector at the CERN LHC and utilizing the detector material as an absorber for antideuterons and antiprotons. The extracted raw primary antiparticle-to-particle ratios are compared to the results from detailed ALICE simulations based on the geant4 toolkit for the propagation of (anti)particles through the detector material. The analysis of the raw primary (anti)proton spectra serves as a benchmark for this study, since their hadronic interaction cross sections are well constrained experimentally. The first measurement of the inelastic cross section for antideuteron-nucleus interactions averaged over the ALICE detector material with atomic mass numbers ⟨A⟩=17.4 and 31.8 is obtained. The measured inelastic cross section points to a possible excess with respect to the Glauber model parametrization used in geant4 in the lowest momentum interval of 0.3≤p<0.47 GeV/c up to a factor 2.1. This result is relevant for the understanding of antimatter propagation and the contributions to antinuclei production from cosmic ray interactions within the interstellar medium. In addition, the momentum range covered by this measurement is of particular importance to evaluate signal predictions for indirect dark-matter searches.

Abstract
Abrupt drought-flood alternation is a frequent meteorological disaster during the summer in Southern China. The study of physiological and translation mechanisms of rice yield recovery after abrupt drought-flood alternation has great potential benefits in field production. Our results showed that yield recovery upon nitrogen (N) application after abrupt drought-flood alternation was due to the increase in effective panicle numbers per plant. The N application resulted in the regulation of physiological and biochemical as well as growth development processes, which led to a rapid growth recovery effect after abrupt drought-flood alternation stress in rice. Using ribosome profiling combined with RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) technology, the interactions between transcription and translation for N application after abrupt drought-flood alternation were analyzed. It was found that a small proportion of response genes were shared at the transcriptional and translational levels, that is, 14% of the expressed genes were upregulated and 6.6% downregulated. Further analysis revealed that the translation efficiency (TE) of the genes was influenced by their sequence characteristics, including their GC content, coding sequence length and normalized minimal free energy. Compared with the number of untranslated upstream open reading frames (uORFs), the increased number of translated uORFs promoted the improvement of TE. The TE of the uORFs for N application was lower than the control without N application after abrupt drought-flood alternation. This study characterizes the translational regulatory pattern in response to N application after abrupt drought-flood alternation stress.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To explore the effects and related mechanisms of oral exposure titanium dioxide nanoparticles (TiO2 NPs) for 90 days on the intestinal and the gut microbiota of rats, through fecal metabolomics. METHODS Twelve 4-week-old clean-grade Sprague Dawley (SD) rats were randomly de-vided into 2 groups by body weight, treated with TiO2 NPs at dose of 0 or 50 mg/kg body weight everyday respectively for 90 days. The solution of each infection was freshly prepared and shocked fully by ultrasonic. Characterization of the particle size, crystal form, purity, and specific surface area of TiO2 NPs was conducted. And the fresh feces of the rats were collected on the 90th day. After lyophilized and hydrophilic phase extraction, ultra performance liquid chromatography-Q-exactive orbitrap-high-resolution mass spectrometry system (UPLC-QEMS) was utilized for non-targeted determination of fecal meta-bolites. The metabolites were identified and labeled through Compound Discoverer 3.0 software, and used for subsequent metabolomics analysis. Bioinformatics analysis was carried out including unsupervised principal component analysis and supervised orthogonal projection to latent structure discriminant analysis for the differential metabolites between the two groups. The differential metabolites were followed-up for Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway analysis. RESULTS Compared with the control group, the body weight of the rats was significantly reduced (P<0.05) in the treatment group. A total of 22 metabolites in fecal metabolomics showed significant changes. Among them, xanthine, 1-methyladenine, 3-hydroxypyridine, methionine sulfoxide, pyridoxine, 1,5-isoquinolinediol, N-acetylornithine, N-acetyl-D-galactosamine, L-citrulline, L-methionine, leucine, DL-tryptophan, L-ornithine, 4-methyl-5-thiazoleethanol, and L-glutamic acid totaled 15 metabolites increased significantly. N-acetylhistamine, D-pipecolinic acid, imidazolelactic acid, L-valine, 2,3,4,6-tetramethylpyrazine, caprolactam, and histamine totaled 7 metabolites decreased significantly. N-acetylhistamine, L-valine and methionine sulfoxide were changed more than 16 times. Analysis of KEGG pathway revealed that the two metabolic pathways arginine biosynthesis and aminoacyl-tRNA biosynthesis were significantly changed (false discover rate < 0.05, pathway impact > 0.1). CONCLUSION Oral exposure to TiO2 NPs for 90 days could disrupt the metabolism of the intestine and gut microbiota, causing significant changes in metabolites and metabolic pathways which were related to inflammatory response, oxidative stress, glucose homeostasis, blood system and amino acid homeostasis in rat feces. It is suggested that the toxic effect of TiO2 NPs on rats may be closely related to intestinal and gut microbiota metabolism.

Abstract
Incidental gallbladder cancer(IGBC) originated in the West more than half a century ago.IGBC was translated and introduced into China afterwards with widespread clinical application. With the popularization of laparoscopic cholecystectomy, the trend of "abuse" of IGBC has become increasingly apparent worldwide. Many advanced gallbladder cancers have been categorized as IGBC which actually become the synonym of "missed diagnosis" . From the point of the pathology, the diagnosis of IGBC may cause delays in treatment and adversely affect the patient's prognosis. For country like China with relatively high incidences of chronic cholecystitis, cholelithiasis, and gallbladder cancer, the concept of IGBC, however, is no longer applicable to our diagnosis treat model. For improving the prognosis of gallbladder patients, it is necessary to update and rename the concept of IGBC and more attention should be paid to improve the diagnostic level of early stage tumor.

Probing the Effects of Strong Electromagnetic Fields with Charge-Dependent Directed Flow in Pb-Pb Collisions at the LHC. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2020; 125:022301. Abstract
The first measurement at the LHC of charge-dependent directed flow (v_{1}) relative to the spectator plane is presented for Pb-Pb collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02 TeV. Results are reported for charged hadrons and D^{0} mesons for the transverse momentum intervals p_{T}>0.2 GeV/c and 3<p_{T}<6 GeV/c in the 5%-40% and 10%-40% centrality classes, respectively. The difference between the positively and negatively charged hadron v_{1} has a positive slope as a function of pseudorapidity η, dΔv_{1}/dη=[1.68±0.49(stat)±0.41(syst)]×10^{-4}. The same measurement for D^{0} and D[over ¯]^{0} mesons yields a positive value dΔv_{1}/dη=[4.9±1.7(stat)±0.6(syst)]×10^{-1}, which is about 3 orders of magnitude larger than the one of the charged hadrons. These measurements can provide new insights into the effects of the strong electromagnetic field and the initial tilt of matter created in noncentral heavy ion collisions on the dynamics of light (u, d, and s) and heavy (c) quarks. The large difference between the observed Δv_{1} of charged hadrons and D^{0} mesons may reflect different sensitivity of the charm and light quarks to the early time dynamics of a heavy ion collision. These observations challenge some recent theoretical calculations, which predicted a negative and an order of magnitude smaller value of dΔv_{1}/dη for both light flavor and charmed hadrons.

Evidence of Spin-Orbital Angular Momentum Interactions in Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collisions. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2020; 125:012301. Abstract
The first evidence of spin alignment of vector mesons (K^{*0} and ϕ) in heavy-ion collisions at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is reported. The spin density matrix element ρ_{00} is measured at midrapidity (|y|<0.5) in Pb-Pb collisions at a center-of-mass energy (sqrt[s_{NN}]) of 2.76 TeV with the ALICE detector. ρ_{00} values are found to be less than 1/3 (1/3 implies no spin alignment) at low transverse momentum (p_{T}<2 GeV/c) for K^{*0} and ϕ at a level of 3σ and 2σ, respectively. No significant spin alignment is observed for the K_{S}^{0} meson (spin=0) in Pb-Pb collisions and for the vector mesons in pp collisions. The measured spin alignment is unexpectedly large but qualitatively consistent with the expectation from models which attribute it to a polarization of quarks in the presence of angular momentum in heavy-ion collisions and a subsequent hadronization by the process of recombination.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Hepatic vein tumour thrombus (HVTT) is a major determinant of survival outcomes for patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). An Eastern Hepatobiliary Surgery Hospital (EHBH)-HVTT model was established to predict the prognosis of patients with HCC and HVTT after liver resection, in order to identify optimal candidates for liver resection. METHODS Patients with HCC and HVTT from 15 hospitals in China were included. The EHBH-HVTT model with contour plot was developed using a non-linear model in the training cohort, and subsequently validated in internal and external cohorts. RESULTS Of 850 patients who met the inclusion criteria, there were 292 patients who had liver resection and 198 who did not in the training cohort, and 124 and 236 in the internal and external validation cohorts respectively. Contour plots for the EHBH-HVTT model were established to predict overall survival (OS) rates of patients visually, based on tumour diameter, number of tumours and portal vein tumour thrombus. This differentiated patients into low- and high-risk groups with distinct long-term prognoses in the liver resection cohort (median OS 34·7 versus 12·0 months; P < 0·001), internal validation cohort (32·8 versus 10·4 months; P = 0·002) and external validation cohort (15·2 versus 6·5 months; P = 0·006). On subgroup analysis, the model showed the same efficacy in differentiating patients with HVTT in peripheral and major hepatic veins, the inferior vena cava, or in patients with coexisting portal vein tumour thrombus. CONCLUSION The EHBH-HVTT model was accurate in predicting prognosis in patients with HCC and HVTT after liver resection. It identified optimal candidates for liver resection among patients with HCC and HVTT, including tumour thrombus in the inferior vena cava, or coexisting portal vein tumour thrombus.

Abstract

Abstract
The study of the strength and behavior of the antikaon-nucleon (K[over ¯]N) interaction constitutes one of the key focuses of the strangeness sector in low-energy quantum chromodynamics (QCD). In this Letter a unique high-precision measurement of the strong interaction between kaons and protons, close and above the kinematic threshold, is presented. The femtoscopic measurements of the correlation function at low pair-frame relative momentum of (K^{+}p⊕K^{-}p[over ¯]) and (K^{-}p⊕K^{+}p[over ¯]) pairs measured in pp collisions at sqrt[s]=5, 7, and 13 TeV are reported. A structure observed around a relative momentum of 58 MeV/c in the measured correlation function of (K^{-}p⊕K^{+}p[over ¯]) with a significance of 4.4σ constitutes the first experimental evidence for the opening of the (K[over ¯]^{0}n⊕K^{0}n[over ¯]) isospin breaking channel due to the mass difference between charged and neutral kaons. The measured correlation functions have been compared to Jülich and Kyoto models in addition to the Coulomb potential. The high-precision data at low relative momenta presented in this work prove femtoscopy to be a powerful complementary tool to scattering experiments and provide new constraints above the K[over ¯]N threshold for low-energy QCD chiral models.

Abstract
Gallbladder carcinoma(GBC) is one of the most malignant cancers of the digestive system with very poor prognosis due to its histopathological features of easy invasion to the liver, early lymph node metastasis and nerve infiltration, which result in low resection rate. It has been confirmed that radical surgery only makes sense to relatively early GBC in improving prognosis of patients. Therefore, based on recognition of biological characteristics of GBC and the theories of oncology, efforts should be focused on developing various adjuvant treatment methods for treating GBC including chemotherapy, radiotherapy, targeted therapy and immunotherapy.

Abstract
Leaf senescence is one of the most common factors that affects the growth and yield of rice. Although numerous genes affecting leaf senescence have been identified, few involved in cuticular wax synthesis have been described for rice premature leaf senescence. Here, we cloned and characterized Premature Leaf Senescence 4 (PLS4) in rice (Oryza sativa), which encodes a putative 3-oxoacyl-reductase in the fatty acid biosynthetic pathway. Subcellular localization of OsPLS4 was observed in the chloroplast. A single nucleotide substitution in OsPLS4 reduced leaf cuticular wax, and the expression levels of most wax biosynthesis-associated genes were downregulated. TEM showed chloroplast development were defective in the pls4 mutant. Further investigation revealed that the chlorophyll (Chl) content was reduced in the pls4 mutant compared with the WT and that the photosynthesis rate was lower, which caused ROS dramatic accumulation at the heading stage. These results confirmed premature leaf senescence in pls4 plants. Cold treatment indicated that the mutant was more sensitive than the WT was to cold stress. Together, all the above results indicate that the OsPLS4 mutation affects cuticular wax biosynthesis and chloroplast development in rice, causing reduced cuticular wax and premature leaf senescence.

Abstract
Chitinase is responsible for insect chitin hydrolyzation, which is a key process in insect molting and pupation. However, little is known about the chitinase of Spodoptera exigua (SeChi). In this study, based on the SeChi gene (ADI24346) identified in our laboratory, we constructed the recombinant baculovirus P-Chi for the expression of recombinant SeChi (rSeChi) in Hi5 cells. The rSeChi was purified by chelate affinity chromatography, and the purified protein showed activity comparable with that of a commercial SgChi, suggesting that we harvested active SeChi for the first time. The purified protein was subsequently tested for enzymatic properties and revealed to exhibit its highest activity at pH 8 and 40 C. Using homology modeling and molecular docking techniques, the three-dimensional model of SeChi was constructed and screened for inhibitors. In two rounds of screening, twenty compounds were selected. With the purified rSeChi, we tested each of the twenty compounds for inhibitor activity against rSeChi, and seven compounds showed obvious activity. This study provided new information for the chitinase of beet armyworm and for chitinase inhibitor development.

Abstract
The first measurement of the ϒ(1S) elliptic flow coefficient (v_{2}) is performed at forward rapidity (2.5<y<4) in Pb-Pb collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02 TeV with the ALICE detector at the LHC. The results are obtained with the scalar product method and are reported as a function of transverse momentum (p_{T}) up to 15 GeV/c in the 5%-60% centrality interval. The measured ϒ(1S)v_{2} is consistent with 0 and with the small positive values predicted by transport models within uncertainties. The v_{2} coefficient in 2<p_{T}<15 GeV/c is lower than that of inclusive J/ψ mesons in the same p_{T} interval by 2.6 standard deviations. These results, combined with earlier suppression measurements, are in agreement with a scenario in which the ϒ(1S) production in Pb-Pb collisions at LHC energies is dominated by dissociation limited to the early stage of the collision, whereas in the J/ψ case there is substantial experimental evidence of an additional regeneration component.

Abstract
Objective: To observe the influences of different follow-up methods on rehabilitation and compliance of patients with severe scar after burns. Methods: From January 2012 to May 2016, medical records of 116 patients with severe scar after burns who were admitted to our unit, discharged after wound healing and conforming to the criteria, were retrospectively analyzed. They were divided into face-to-face follow-up group [n=59, 45 males and 14 females, aged (36±9) years] and routine follow-up group [n=57, 44 males and 13 females, aged (35±9) years] based on different follow-up methods they received. On the day of discharge and in post discharge month (PDM) 1, 3, and 6, the Vancouver Scar Scale (VSS) was used to evaluate the hypertrophic scar in joints, Activities of Daily Living (ADL) scale was used to evaluate the disability of patients in the 2 groups. In PDM 1, 3, and 6, Medical Compliance Behavior Questionnaire was used to investigate the medical compliance behaviors of patients in the 2 groups. Data were processed with chi-square test, t test with Bonferroni correction, and analysis of variance for repeated measurement. Results: (1) The VSS score of patients in face-to-face follow-up group on the day of discharge was (11.1±0.7) points, which was close to (11.7±0.7) points of routine follow-up group (t=2.021, P>0.05). The VSS scores of patients in face-to-face follow-up group in PDM 1, 3, and 6 were (10.5±0.6), (8.6±0.7), and (4.7±0.5) points, which were significantly lower than (11.4±0.7), (10.9±1.0), and (9.4±0.8) points of routine follow-up group respectively (t=2.034, 2.033, 2.042, P<0.05 or P<0.01). (2) The ADL score of patients in face-to-face follow-up group on the day of discharge was close to that of routine follow-up group (t=1.781, P>0.05). The ADL scores of patients in face-to-face follow-up group in PDM 1, 3, and 6 were higher than those of routine follow-up group respectively (t=9.683, 8.584, 9.772, P<0.01). (3) The compliance rates of consisted rehabilitation, reasonable diet, and timing consultation of patients in face-to-face follow-up group were better than those of routine follow-up group respectively (χ(2)=19.015, 13.251, 8.652, P<0.01). Conclusions: Compared with routine follow-up by phone, face-to-face follow-up can do better in evaluating the scar condition and ADL of patients with severe scar after burns, and improve the medical compliance rates of patients, which is worthy of clinical promotion.

Investigations of Anisotropic Flow Using Multiparticle Azimuthal Correlations in pp, p-Pb, Xe-Xe, and Pb-Pb Collisions at the LHC. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2019; 123:142301. Abstract
Measurements of anisotropic flow coefficients (v_{n}) and their cross-correlations using two- and multiparticle cumulant methods are reported in collisions of pp at sqrt[s]=13 TeV, p-Pb at a center-of-mass energy per nucleon pair sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02 TeV, Xe-Xe at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.44 TeV, and Pb-Pb at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02 TeV recorded with the ALICE detector. The multiplicity dependence of v_{n} is studied in a very wide range from 20 to 3000 particles produced in the midrapidity region |η|<0.8 for the transverse momentum range 0.2<p_{T}<3.0 GeV/c. An ordering of the coefficients v_{2}>v_{3}>v_{4} is found in pp and p-Pb collisions, similar to that seen in large collision systems, while a weak v_{2} multiplicity dependence is observed relative to nucleus-nucleus collisions in the same multiplicity range. Using a novel subevent method, v_{2} measured with four-particle cumulants is found to be compatible with that from six-particle cumulants in pp and p-Pb collisions. The magnitude of the correlation between v_{n}^{2} and v_{m}^{2}, evaluated with the symmetric cumulants SC(m,n) is observed to be positive at all multiplicities for v_{2} and v_{4}, while for v_{2} and v_{3} it is negative and changes sign for multiplicities below 100, which may indicate a different v_{n} fluctuation pattern in this multiplicity range. The observed long-range multiparticle azimuthal correlations in high multiplicity pp and p-Pb collisions can neither be described by pythia 8 nor by impact-parameter-Glasma, music, and ultrarelativistic quantum molecular dynamics model calculations, and hence, provide new insights into the understanding of collective effects in small collision systems.

Abstract
AIM To determine the optimal cut-points of visceral adipose tissue (VAT) areas at different anatomic levels to discriminate participants with cardiometabolic risk factors in a Chinese middle-aged population. METHODS A total of 1744 individuals who underwent regular health checks in Nanjing BENQ Medical Center from January 2013 to December 2016 were included in this cross-sectional study. VAT areas were measured by abdominal quantitative computed tomography at the L2/3 intervertebral disk and umbilicus levels. Cardiometabolic risk factors including serum triglycerides, HDL cholesterol levels, plasma glucose and blood pressure were defined using IDF 2005 criteria for metabolic syndrome. RESULTS The cut-points for VAT area at the umbilicus level were 111 cm2 for men and 96 cm2 for women to identify people with one or more cardiometabolic risk factors. For VAT area at the L2/3 level, the optimal cut-points were 142 cm2 for men and 115 cm2 for women. A VAT area at the L2/3 level of ≥ 142 cm2 for men or 115 cm2 for women significantly increased the prevalence of hyperglycaemia [odds ratio (OR) 3.18, 95% confidence interval (CI) 2.45-4.13], hypertension (OR 2.81, 95% CI 2.27-3.49) and dyslipidaemia (OR 4.37, 95% CI 3.50-5.45) after adjusting age. CONCLUSIONS The optimal cut-points for VAT area at the umbilicus level and L2/3 level were 111 cm2 and 142 cm2 for men and 96 cm2 and 115 cm2 for women to identify participants with one or more cardiometabolic risk factors.

P916The effect of a novel, user-friendly, transcatheter edge-to-edge mitral valve repair device in a porcine model of mitral regurgitation. Eur Heart J 2019. Abstract
Abstract
Objective
A new technique has been devised to treat mitral regurgitation (MR) through the transapical route by replicating the edge-to-edge repair surgery. This system encompasses an easy-to-use leaflet clamp and a smaller-sized delivery system (14F–16F). We aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of this device in a porcine model of acute MR.
Methods
Acute MR was induced in 36 anesthetized porcine subjects by severing the major chordae supporting the corresponding segment of the leaflet. This device was then transapically implanted on the prolapsing segment under 3D epicardial echocardiographic guidance. All of the animals were killed 30 days after the procedure to verify the proper location of the implanted devices.
Results
Cutting the major chordae induced an eccentric MR jet (MR grade: 3+, 27.8%/4+, 72.2%) in all of the animals. Every single pig was then successfully implanted with one clamp. The duration of catheterization ranged from 18 to 40 minutes. Overt MR reduction was observed following the procedure through echocardiography; residual MR was mild in 8 cases, trivial in 19 cases, and absent in 9 cases. In terms of hemodynamic parameters, the mean and maximum mitral valve pressure gradients were increased significantly (p<0.01), but these values were less than 4 mmHg in all of the cases. Autopsy demonstrated that all but one device were precisely placed to clip the prolapsing segment of the mitral valve, and there was no evidence of thrombosis, thromboembolism or impairment of the cardiac structure.

Conclusions
Transapical implantation of the novel mitral valve repair device is effective and safe in reducing acutely induced MR in pigs; thus, suggesting that it has great potential for clinical benefit in patients with MR.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Hyperthermia (HT) has been used widely for cancer therapy, and the development of modern devices has made it more efficient. Shikonin (SHK) is a natural naphthoquinone derivative from a Chinese herb. Although the anticancer properties of SHK are evident, the underlying molecular mechanisms are not fully understood. OBJECTIVE In this study, the effects of combining low doses of SHK with mild HT were investigated in the U937 cell line. METHODS The cells were subjected to HT at 44°C for 10 min with or without SHK pretreatment, and parameters reflecting apoptosis, ROS generation and intracellular calcium elevation were evaluated by using DNA fragmentation, flow cytometry, and western blot analyses. RESULTS SHK 0.5 µM significantly enhanced HT-induced apoptosis as indicated by DNA fragmentation and caspase-3 activation with increased generation of ROS and elevation of intracellular calcium. The combined treatment also synergistically activated proapoptotic proteins and inactivated anti-apoptotic proteins. Furthermore, the phosphorylation of JNK and PKC- δ and the dephosphorylation of ERK and AKT were the upstream effects that may have compounded the induction of apoptosis. The modulatory effects of HT and SHK were abrogated with the employment of NAC and JNK-IN-8 by inactivating the MAPK pathway and cleavage of caspase-3. Intracellular calcium was also elevated and was found to be responsible for the induction of cell death evident by the DNA fragmentation with or without the employment of BAPTA-AM. CONCLUSION Conclusively, this study provides persuasive evidence that SHK in combination with HT is a propitious therapeutic way for augmentation of apoptosis and hence suggest a novel strategy for treating cancers.

Abstract
This Letter presents the first experimental observation of the attractive strong interaction between a proton and a multistrange baryon (hyperon) Ξ^{-}. The result is extracted from two-particle correlations of combined p-Ξ^{-}⊕p[over ¯]-Ξ[over ¯]^{+} pairs measured in p-Pb collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02 TeV at the LHC with ALICE. The measured correlation function is compared with the prediction obtained assuming only an attractive Coulomb interaction and a standard deviation in the range [3.6, 5.3] is found. Since the measured p-Ξ^{-}⊕p[over ¯]-Ξ[over ¯]^{+} correlation is significantly enhanced with respect to the Coulomb prediction, the presence of an additional, strong, attractive interaction is evident. The data are compatible with recent lattice calculations by the HAL-QCD Collaboration, with a standard deviation in the range [1.8, 3.7]. The lattice potential predicts a shallow repulsive Ξ^{-} interaction within pure neutron matter and this implies stiffer equations of state for neutron-rich matter including hyperons. Implications of the strong interaction for the modeling of neutron stars are discussed.
