Abstract
OBJECTIVE We present molecular cytogenetic characterization of a prenatally detected derivative chromosome 9 [der(9)] of unknown origin. CASE REPORT A 35-year-old woman underwent amniocentesis at 18 weeks of gestation because of advanced maternal age, which revealed a der(9) chromosome of unknown origin. The parental karyotypes were normal. Array comparative genomic hybridization (aCGH) analysis revealed a 2.593 Mb deletion of 9p24.3-p24.2 encompassing DOCK8, KANK1, DMRT1, and VLDLR and a 16.65 Mb duplication of 14q32.11-q32.33 encompassing DLK1, RTL1, MEG3, RTL1as, and MEG8. Quantitative fluorescent polymerase chain reaction (QF-PCR) analysis using D9S937 (9p24.2) and D14S605 (14q32.2) showed a paternal origin of 9p24.2 deletion and a paternal origin of 14q32.2 duplication consistent with a paternal origin of the de novo aberrant chromosome of der(9)t(9p;14q). The fetal karyotype was 46,XX,der(9)t(9;14) (p24.2;q32.11). Metaphase fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) analysis using RP11-57K23 (14q32.33), RP11-31F19 (9p24.3), RP11-30O14 (9p21.1), and RP11-1105I14 (14q11.2) confirmed an unbalanced reciprocal translocation of der(9)t(9p;14q). We discuss 9p deletion syndrome and 14q duplication syndrome in this case. CONCLUSION Molecular cytogenetic techniques such as aCGH, FISH, and QF-PCR are useful in the determination of the origin and nature of a prenatally detected de novo derivative chromosome of unknown origin.

Abstract
AIM To better understand the clinical characteristics of central neurocytoma (CN), as well as to assess the optimum therapeutic schedule. MATERIAL AND METHODS This was a retrospective study of 32 patients with CN who visited our department between January 2008 and January 2013. We analyzed the clinical and radiological presentations, tumor characteristics, surgical strategies, and the prognosis. RESULTS We performed operation guided by combined intraoperative magnetic resonance imaging (iMRI) and neuronavigation in 25 patients. The iMRI detected residual tumor in 9 cases, and further resection was performed in 5 cases. Total and nearly total tumor resection was achieved in 29 cases (91%). There was no significant difference between transcortical and transcallosal approaches in complications. Two cases (6%) with recurrence received respectively repeat salvage surgery and radiosurgery at 46 and 50 months after surgery. Thirty patients (94%) had excellent functional outcome (Karnofsky Performance Score ≥80) and 28 patients (88%) resumed their occupations. CONCLUSION Our study demonstrates radical surgery with excellent neurological outcomes is the primary treatment of CN. The techniques of resection guided by combined iMRI and neuronavigation seems to enable a higher complete resection rate and reduce the morbidity rate during surgery. We suggest careful clinical observation after initial surgery, and repeat salvage surgery or radiosurgery for recurrent CN.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To determine whether intramural administration of rapamycin (RPM)-loaded polylactic-polyglycolic acid (PLGA) nanoparticles (NPs) can reduce intimal thickening and affect the mRNA expressions of matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-2, tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase (TIMP)-2 and p27(kipl) in a coronary injury-stenosis model of minipigs. METHODS Twenty eight minipigs were randomly separated into four groups: saline group (n=7), blank PLGA NPs group (5.0 mg/ml)(n=7), RPM group (1.0 mg/ml)(n=7), and RPM-PLGA NPs(5.0 mg/ml)group (n=7), respectively. Different treatments were intracoronary locally delivered via a Dispatch™ catheter for 10 minutes. Serial angiography was performed pre-and post-modeling 30 days and the percent stenosis degree was assessed. Hematoxylin-Eosin (HE) staining, Weigert's resorcin fuchsin staining and picric acid-sirius red staining were used for morphometric analysis. Immunohistochemistry was performed to assess the levels of proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA), MMP-2, and TIMP-2 at early and late time points, respectively. The expression of p27(kip1) mRNA was detected by in situ hybridization staining. RESULTS Data from 21 minipigs had been collected at the end of the experiment with 6, 4, 5, and 6 from the former mentioned 4 groups, respectively. For the instant injury index, there was no significant difference among the four groups. The percent stenosis degree of RPM-PLGA NPs group was significantly lower than that of the other three groups respectively (all P< 0.05). The neointima area, net external elastic lamina area to external elastic laminal area ratio, and proliferative index of RPM-PLGA NPs group were significantly less than those of the other three groups, with all the P values less than 0.05. The mean value of integral optical density of p27(kip1)mRNA expression of RPM-PLGA group was 0.35 ± 0.06, higher than that of blank PLGA NPs group (0.12 ± 0.05, P< 0.01), saline group (0.16 ± 0.03, P< 0.05), and RPM group (0.15 ± 0.03, P< 0.05), respectively. The MMP-2/TIMP-2 ratio and the positive expression index of PCNA in RPM-PLGA group were lower than that of the other groups (P< 0.05). CONCLUSIONS Locally delivered rapamycin-loaded PLGA NPs significantly reduces MMP-2/TIMP-2 ratio and PCNA expression, increases p27(kip1) mRNA expression and significantly relieves percent stenosis degree and shows excellent acute procedural results in the minipig interventional coronary artery oversized balloon injury model. The results from minipig model further support that this approach could be a potential clinical procedure for vascular proliferative disease.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To present perinatal detection of distal 3p duplication and terminal 7q deletion associated with nuchal edema and cyclopia in a fetus, and to review the literature. MATERIALS AND METHODS A 32-year-old, G9P0, woman who had experienced eight spontaneous abortions was found to have fetal nuchal edema, alobar holoprosencephaly, and cyclopia by prenatal ultrasound at 15 weeks of gestation. The pregnancy was subsequently terminated, and a malformed fetus was delivered with cyclopia. Molecular and conventional cytogenetic analyses were made to determine the genetic pathogenesis of fetal abnormalities. RESULTS The father had a karyotype of 46,XY,t(3;7)(p22.1;q36.1). The mother had a karyotype of 46,XX. The fetus had a karyotype of 46,XY,der(7)t(3;7)(p22.1;q36.1)pat. The analysis of array comparative genomic hybridization analysis revealed a 43.68-Mb duplication of 3p26.3-3p22.1 encompassing CHL1 and CNTN4, and an 8.66-Mb deletion of 7q36.1-7q36.3 encompassing SHH in the fetus. CONCLUSION Simultaneous occurrence of 7q deletion and 3p duplication can be associated with alobar holoprosencephaly. For the couple with a parental translocation involving 7q and 3p, prenatal ultrasound should include a detailed investigation of central nervous system anomalies.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE This study aims to compare the corneal biomechanical properties of patients with Graves'orbitopathy (GO) with normal people and analysis the correlated factors. METHODS Retrospective case series study. 34 eyes of 20 patients (6 eyes are unilateral) diagnosed with inactive Graves' orbitopathy and 25 eyes of 14 patients (3 eyes are unilateral) diagnosed with active Graves' orbitopathy were recruited as study group. 30 eyes of 28 healthy volunteers with age and sex-matched were enrolled as control group in the affiliated eye hospital of Wenzhou medical university from December 2013 to June 2014. Central corneal thickness (CCT) measured with A ultrasound, corneal hysteresis (CH) measured with Ocular Response Analyser (ORA), corneal resistance factor (CRF), Goldman-corrected IOP value (IOPg) and Cornea-Compensated Intraocular Pressure(IOPcc) were collected. An ANONA and Kruskal-Wallis Test was used to compare the indexes mentioned above. RESULTS The mean age of inactive group was (47.3±12.8)y (23 eyes were female, 11 eyes were male), the mean age of active group was (51.9±9.6)y (16 eyes were female, 9 eyes were male) , the mean age of normal group was (47.2±10.4)y (19 eyes were female, 9 eyes were male). CH of inactive group was (9.68±1.45) mmHg, (1 mmHg=0.133 kPa), CH of active group was (9.82±1.53) mmHg, lower than the CH of (10.67±1.68) mmHg in control group, which was statistically significant different (t1=-2.51,P1=0.014,t2=-2.01,P2=0.048). IOPcc of inactive group was (17.91±3.67) mmHg, IOPcc of active group was (17.88±5.44) mmHg, which were higher than the IOPcc of (13.90±3.39) mmHg in the control group, which was statistically significant different (t1=3.76,P1=0.001;t2= 3.461,P2=0.001). There were no significant difference between study and control group in CRF, that was in inactive group (10.19±1.73)mmHg, active group (10.36±1.01)mmHg, normal group (10.08±1.40)mmHg respectively (t1=0.31,P=0.761;t2=0.69,P2=0.491). CCT of inactive group was (531.41±37.60) μm, CCT of active group is (533.52±18.88) μm, which had no statistical significant difference from the CCT of (546.25±28.84) μm in control group (t1=-1.91,P=0.059;t2=-1.52,P2=0.132). Corneal hysteresis was negatively correlated with exophthalmos, IOPg, IOPcc (Pearson=-0.279,-0.385,-0.663,P<0.05), and positively correlated with corneal central thickness and corneal resistance factor (Pearson=0.246,0.583,P<0.05) in TAO group. CONCLUSIONS Cornea hysteresis of TAO patients decreased, combined with lower ability of cornea to recover to the primary conditions when upon pressure. CH was negatively correlated with IOPg and IOPcc.(Chin J Ophthalmol, 2016, 52: 263-267).

Abstract
Three dimensional (3D) carbon nanomaterials exhibit great application potential in environmental protection, electrochemical energy storage and conversion, catalysis, polymer science, and advanced sensors fields. Current methods for preparing 3D carbon nanomaterials, for example, carbonization of organogels, chemical vapor deposition, and self-assembly of nanocarbon building blocks, inevitably involve some drawbacks, such as expensive and toxic precursors, complex equipment and technological requirements, and low production ability. From the viewpoint of practical application, it is highly desirable to develop a simple, cheap, and environmentally friendly way for fabricating 3D carbon nanomaterials in large scale. On the other hand, in order to extend the application scope and improve the performance of 3D carbon nanomaterials, we should explore efficient strategies to prepare diverse functional nanomaterials based on their 3D carbon structure. Recently, many researchers tend to fabricate high-performance 3D carbon-based nanomaterials from biomass, which is low cost, easy to obtain, and nontoxic to humans. Bacterial cellulose (BC), a typical biomass material, has long been used as the raw material of nata-de-coco (an indigenous dessert food of the Philippines). It consists of a polysaccharide with a β-1,4-glycosidic linkage and has a interconnected 3D porous network structure. Interestingly, the network is made up of a random assembly of cellulose nanofibers, which have a high aspect ratio with a diameter of 20-100 nm. As a result, BC has a high specific surface area. Additionally, BC hydrogels can be produced on an industrial scale via a microbial fermentation process at a very low price. Thus, it can be an ideal platform for design of 3D carbon-based functional nanomaterials. Before our work, no systematic work and summary on this topic had been reported. This Account presents the concepts and strategies of our studies on BC in the past few years, that is, converting cheap biomass into high value-added 3D carbon nanomaterials and designing diverse functional materials on 3D carbon structure. We first briefly introduce the history, constituent, and microstructure features of BC and discuss its advantages as a raw material for preparing the CNF aerogels. Then, we summarize the methods and strategies for preparing various 3D carbon-based nanomaterials from BC. In addition, the potential applications of the developed CNF aerogel based functional materials are also highlighted in this Account, including stretchable conductors, oxygen reduction reaction catalysts, supercapacitors, lithium-ion battery, and oil cleanup. Finally, we give some prospects on the future challenges in this emerging research area of designing CNF aerogel based functional nanomaterials from BC.

Abstract
This report describes a pediatric case of severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS), which is an emerging disease that is caused by a novel bunyavirus. Interestingly, the previously reported SFTS cases typically involved elderly patients, while our case involved a 5-year-old child from Zhejiang Province, China. In this report, we describe our investigation of the clinical and epidemiological characteristics of this case, to improve our understanding of this emerging disease. Our principle finding was that the present case's clinical symptoms were milder than those that have been reported in adult cases of SFTS. Therefore, we recommend more careful screening of pediatric patients who present with mild symptoms that are consistent with SFTS.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To examine the cholesterol efflux and the expressions of ATP-binding cassette transporter G1 (ABCG1) in macrophages of diabetic patients and the roles of liver-X receptor (LXR) in regulation of ABCG1 expressions. METHODS Blood was collected from patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and healthy controls. The peripheral blood monocytes were differentiated into macrophages with macrophage colony stimulating factor (M-CSF). The cells were radio labeled with [(3)H] cholesterol and were performed with cholesterol efflux assays. Quantitative real-time PCR (qRT PCR) and Western blot were performed to measure the mRNA and protein expressions of ABCA1 and ABCG1. To test the effects of LXR on ABCG1 expressions, inhibition of LXRα and LXRβ by siRNA were performed. The DNA-protein complex of LXR and LXR element (LXRE) located in the promoter region of ABCG1 gene were detected with electrophery mobility supershift assay (EMSA). RESULTS Macrophage ABCG1 expressions and high-density lipoprotein (HDL) induced cholesterol efflux were significantly reduced (19.0%±1.2% vs. 12.8%±3.6%, t=2.532, P=0.016) in the diabetic subjects whereas ABCA1 expressions and apolipoprotein A1 (ApoA1) induced cholesterol efflux were comparable (12.0%±1.2% vs. 10.2%±2.3%, t=1.771, P=0.109) between the diabetic patients and healthy subjects. The mRNA expressions of LXRα and LXRβ had no changes between the diabetes subjects and healthy controls (t=1.025, P=0.315; t=-0.531, P=0.600). The LXR-LXRE DNA-protein complex detected by EMSA were also similar between the diabetes subjects and healthy controls (t=1.483, P=0.164). Moreover, ABCG1 expressions were not altered by inhibition of LXRα/β siRNA (t=2.143, P=0.061). CONCLUSION Our data indicated that expression of ABCG1 and HDL induced cholesterol efflux were reduced in type 2 diabetic patients. However, the LXR mRNA expression and binding complex of LXR and ABCG1 promoter were not changed. The impairment of cholesterol efflux and ABCG1 gene expressions might be regulated via an LXR-independent pathway.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To present prenatal diagnosis and molecular cytogenetic characterization of a de novo 5q35 microdeletion associated with Sotos syndrome. METHODS This was the first pregnancy of a 29-year-old woman. The pregnancy was uneventful until 27 weeks of gestation when left ventriculomegaly was first noted. At 31 weeks of gestation, polyhydramnios, macrocephaly, and ventriculomegaly were prominent on ultrasound, and left pyelectasis and bilateral ventriculomegaly were diagnosed on magnetic resonance imaging. The woman underwent amniocentesis and cordocentesis at 32 weeks of gestation. Conventional cytogenetic analysis was performed using cultured amniocytes and cord blood lymphocytes. Array comparative genomic hybridization (aCGH) was performed on uncultured amniocytes and parental blood. Metaphase fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) was performed on cultured lymphocytes. RESULTS Conventional cytogenetics revealed a karyotype of 46,XX. aCGH on uncultured amniocytes revealed a de novo 1.07-Mb microdeletion at 5q35.2-q35.3 encompassing NSD1. Metaphase FISH analysis on the cord blood lymphocytes confirmed the deletion at 5q35.2. The postnatal phenotype was consistent with Sotos syndrome. CONCLUSION Fetuses with Sotos syndrome may present macrocephaly, polyhydramnios, ventriculomegaly, and pyelectasis in the third trimester. aCGH and metaphase FISH are useful for rapid diagnosis of 5q35 microdeletion associated with Sotos syndrome.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Liver cirrhotic patients with hepatic encephalopathy have poor prognosis. Probiotics alter the intestinal microbiota and reduce the production of ammonia. We conducted a meta-analysis about the role of probiotics on liver cirrhotic patients with hepatic encephalopathy. DATA SOURCES We collected the relevant literatures up to February 21, 2014 from databases of PubMed, EMBASE and the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials. A statistical analysis was conducted by RevMan 5.2 and STATA 12.0 software. RESULTS Six randomized controlled trials involving 496 liver cirrhotic patients were included. The results showed that probiotic therapy significantly reduced the development of overt hepatic encephalopathy (OR [95% CI]: 0.42 [0.26, 0.70], P=0.0007). However, probiotics did not affect mortality, levels of serum ammonia and constipation (mortality: OR [95% CI]: 0.73 [0.38, 1.41], P=0.35; serum ammonia: WMD [95% CI]: -3.67 [-15.71, 8.37], P=0.55; constipation: OR [95% CI]: 0.67 [0.29, 1.56], P=0.35). CONCLUSION Probiotics decrease overt hepatic encephalopathy in patients with liver cirrhosis.

Abstract
Frediction of the three-dimensional structure of a protein from its amino acid sequence can be considered as a global optimization problem. In this paper, the Chaotic Artificial Bee Colony (CABC) algorithm was introduced and applied to 3D protein structure prediction. Based on the 3D off-lattice AB model, the CABC algorithm combines global search and local search of the Artificial Bee Colony (ABC) algorithm with the Chaotic search algorithm to avoid the problem of premature convergence and easily trapping the local optimum solution. The experiments carried out with the popular Fibonacci sequences demonstrate that the proposed algorithm provides an effective and high-performance method for protein structure prediction.

Abstract
We present prenatal diagnosis and molecular cytogenetic analysis of mosaic small supernumerary marker chromosome 1 [sSMC(1)]. We review the literature of sSMC(1) at amniocentesis and chromosome 1p21.1-p12 duplication syndrome. We discuss the genotype-phenotype correlation of the involved genes of ALX3, RBM15, NTNG1, SLC25A24, GPSM2, TBX15 and NOTCH2 in this case.
