Abstract
Background and objective: Dates are a high-nutritional-value food that is suitable for humans since they contain major nutrients such as carbohydrates, proteins, fats, and dietary fibers. The current study aimed to determine the level of some heavy metals such as Fe, Pb, Co, Mn, Cd, Cu in the dates (P. dactylifera L.) taken from various regions of Balochistan (Panjgoor and Turbat).
Method: The analysis was performed using the atomic absorption spectrophotometer.
Results: The results indicated the presence of all the analyzed heavy metals in the samples. The mean detected concentration order of heavy metals is Fe > Pb > Cu > Mn > Cd > Co. The highest average level of Fe was detected and the least average level of Co was determined in dates.
Conclusions: It is concluded that the levels of all the detected heavy metals in all varieties of dates were found within the admissible limit of WHO/FAO and ATSDR.

Abstract
Current seasonal and pre-pandemic influenza vaccines induce short-lived predominantly strain-specific and limited heterosubtypic responses. To better understand how vaccine adjuvants AS03 and MF59 may provide improved antibody responses to vaccination, we interrogated serum from subjects who received 2 doses of inactivated monovalent influenza A/Indonesia/05/2005 vaccine with or without AS03 or MF59 using hemagglutinin (HA) microarrays (NCT01317758 and NCT01317745). The arrays were designed to reflect both full-length and globular head HA derived from 17 influenza A subtypes (H1 to H16 and H18) and influenza B strains. We observed significantly increased strain-specific and broad homo- and heterosubtypic antibody responses with both AS03 and MF59 adjuvanted vaccination with AS03 achieving a higher titer and breadth of IgG responses relative to MF59. The adjuvanted vaccine was also associated with the elicitation of stalk-directed antibody. We established good correlation of the array antibody responses to H5 antigens with standard HA inhibition and microneutralization titers.

Abstract
Abstract
Introduction
Parapharyngeal Space (PPS) tumours are responsible for 0.5% of head and neck cancers. Presenting features can mimic peritonsillar abscess. A differential diagnosis of PPS tumour should therefore be considered in young, systemically well patients with resistant peritonsillar masses.
Aim
To report a rare case of parapharyngeal schwannoma in a fit and well adult female with a focus on investigations and optimal management.
Method
A 29-year-old, Caucasian female presented with a three-week history of a right sided oropharyngeal mass, odynophagia, and dysphonia. A stagnant clinical picture prompted further investigation with Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). This demonstrated a 7cm right sided PPS mass arising from the deep lobe of the right parotid gland. Mass excision and partial, ipsilateral parotidectomy confirmed Schwannoma (neurilemoma).
Results & Discussion
Schwannomas account for a third of PPS tumours. Arising from neurological Schwann cells, they are often encapsulated, benign tumours which are characterised by slow and asymptomatic growth. Presentation often follows mass effects leading to dysphagia, odynophagia, and dysphonia. MRI and FNAC remain the gold standard in confirmation of diagnosis. Insensitivity to radiotherapy ensures that surgical resection is the mainstay of treatment and may utilise the transcervical, transparotid or transmandibular approach.
Conclusion
There is a significant degree of overlap in the epidemiology and presenting features of peritonsillar abscess and PPS tumours. In cases of treatment resistant, chronic peritonsillar masses a differential diagnosis of PPS tumour must therefore be excluded.

Abstract
Abstract
We present to you the case of a 54-year-old female with a background of horseshoe kidney presenting with a fever, right-sided flank pain, and raised inflammatory markers. This presentation was on a background of recurrent urinary tract infections which were managed conservatively with antibiotics. CT-KUB revealed pockets of gas in both kidneys and within the pelvis, with wall thickening of the left renal pelvis. She subsequently received broad spectrum antibiotics and a suprapubic catheter. Bilateral JJ stents were inserted, and ultrasound was performed in the days following to rule out hydronephrosis. Subsequently, a nephrostomy tube was inserted. The patient clinically improved over time. Horseshoe kidney is a rare anomaly, presenting multiple challenges when managing emphysematous pyelonephritis in these patients.
Emphysematous pyelonephritis (EPN) is a necrotising renal infection that leads to the formation of gas in the renal parenchyma, collecting ducts, and surrounding tissue. In the past, multiple eponyms have been used to describe these conditions: ‘renal emphysema’, ‘pneumonephritis’. The pathophysiology of this benign condition is multifactorial. The gas formation that occurs can be either focal or diffuse and has the capability of tracking into perinephric and paranephric spaces.
Approximately 90% of these patients have an underlying diagnosis of uncontrolled diabetes mellitus with pathogens that can produce gas, whilst 10% have urinary tract obstructions. EPN is rare, and the occurrence in a diabetic patient with horseshoe kidney has rarely been reported. The presence of a horseshoe kidney makes management more difficult. Few cases have been reported in the literature.

Abstract
We report on a search for compact binary coalescences where at least one binary component has a mass between 0.2 M_{⊙} and 1.0 M_{⊙} in Advanced LIGO and Advanced Virgo data collected between 1 April 2019 1500 UTC and 1 October 2019 1500 UTC. We extend our previous analyses in two main ways: we include data from the Virgo detector and we allow for more unequal mass systems, with mass ratio q≥0.1. We do not report any gravitational-wave candidates. The most significant trigger has a false alarm rate of 0.14 yr^{-1}. This implies an upper limit on the merger rate of subsolar binaries in the range [220-24200] Gpc^{-3} yr^{-1}, depending on the chirp mass of the binary. We use this upper limit to derive astrophysical constraints on two phenomenological models that could produce subsolar-mass compact objects. One is an isotropic distribution of equal-mass primordial black holes. Using this model, we find that the fraction of dark matter in primordial black holes in the mass range 0.2 M_{⊙}<m_{PBH}<1.0 M_{⊙} is f_{PBH}≡Ω_{PBH}/Ω_{DM}≲6%. This improves existing constraints on primordial black hole abundance by a factor of ∼3. The other is a dissipative dark matter model, in which fermionic dark matter can collapse and form black holes. The upper limit on the fraction of dark matter black holes depends on the minimum mass of the black holes that can be formed: the most constraining result is obtained at M_{min}=1 M_{⊙}, where f_{DBH}≡Ω_{DBH}/Ω_{DM}≲0.003%. These are the first constraints placed on dissipative dark models by subsolar-mass analyses.

Abstract
Acute gastroenteritis is one of the common diseases of childhood. Dehydration is the most frequent consequence of acute gastroenteritis, and vomiting is the most distressing clinical manifestation. Various anti-emetic agents are used in practice to control vomiting. However, not all anti-emetic agents are safe and effective. This meta-analysis aims to compare the effectiveness of ondansetron and domperidone in the cessation of vomiting in children with acute gastroenteritis. The current meta-analysis was conducted using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. A comprehensive search strategy was developed to identify prospective studies that compared the effectiveness of ondansetron and domperidone in the cessation of vomiting in children with acute gastroenteritis. The primary outcome was the number of children in whom there was a cessation of vomiting. The secondary outcomes included a number of children who required an additional dose of the assigned anti-emetic and the number of children who required intravenous rehydration therapy. Overall, seven randomized trials were included in the current meta-analysis. The pooled sample size of enrolled patients was 1,262, of which 639 patients were randomized to the ondansetron group and 623 were randomized to the domperidone group. In the ondansetron group, a higher number of children experienced cessation of vomiting (risk ratio [RR]: 1.22, 95% CI: 1.08-1.37, p-value=0.002), a lower proportion of children needed an additional dose of the assigned anti-emetic (RR=0.50, 95% CI: 0.33-0.77, p-value=0.002), and a lower number of children received intravenous rehydration (RR: 0.37, 95% CI: 0.16-0.83, p-value=0.02) as compared to domperidone group. Compared to domperidone, ondansetron was found to have better efficiency in aiming cessation of vomiting in children with gastroenteritis.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Induced mutagenesis is a quick and effective breeding strategy to enhance genetic variability, an important prerequisite for the genetic improvement of existing lentil cultivars. Lentil is an important cool season food legume with low productivity due to the low yielding potential of existing lentil cultivars. The present study aimed at increasing the yielding potential, resulted in the isolation of six high-yielding mutant lines with dense micronutrients. METHODS AND RESULTS Two lentil varieties were treated with different doses of ethyl methanesulphonate, hydrazine hydrate, and sodium azide, followed by phenotypic selection for consecutive three generations. In the M2 generation, six high-yielding mutant lines with stable phenotypes were isolated. The results revealed a substantial increase in mean values for quantitative and physiological traits coupled with a manifold increase in the genotypic coefficient of variation (GCV), heritability (h2), and genetic advance (GA). Correlation analysis revealed that plant yield was significantly and positively influenced (P < 0.001) by fertile branches per plant, pods per plant, and seed weight. Principal component analysis revealed two principal components contributed 63.5 and 62.5% of the total variation in the varieties Pant L-639 and Pant L-406, respectively. CONCLUSION The isolated high-yielding mutant lines with dense micronutrients that serve as rich genetic resources could be subjected to further breeding trials. After attaining yield stability, these might be registered and released as new improved lentil varieties.

Abstract
Skin considered as an attractive route for variety of drug molecules administration. However it proved to be the main physical barrier for drug flux owing to their poor permeability and low bioavailability across stratum corneum layer. In current study novel approach has been used to enhance transdermal delivery via microporation through combination of poloxamers gels and microneedles arrays. The phase transition of poloxamers at various concentrations from sol-gel was evaluated using AR2000 rheometer to confirm microneedles-assisted insitu forming depots. Temperature test confirmed gelation between 32-37 °C. Curcumin was loaded in poloxamer formulations at variable concentrations and its effect showed reduction in critical gelation temperature (CGT) owing to its hydrophobic nature. Microneedles (MNs) arrays (600 µm) prepared from Gantrez S-97, PEG 10000 and Gelatin B using (19 × 19) laser-engineered silicone micromoulds showed high mechanical stability investigated via Texture analyzer. From insitu dissolution profile Gelatin 15% w/w based MNs displayed quicker dissolution rate in comparison to PG10000. VivoSight® OCT scanner and dye tracking confirmed that PG10000 MNs arrays pierced SC layer, infiltrate the epidermis and goes to dermis layer. From invitro permeation, it was concluded that 20% w/w PF127® gel formulations containing (0.1% and 0.3%) curcumin displayed high curcumin permeation for comparatively longer time through microporated skin samples in comparison to non-microporated skin. The curcumin distribution in skin tissues with higher florescence intensity was noted in MNs treated skin samples by confocal microscopy. FTIR confirmed the structure formation of fabricated MNs, while TGA showed dry, brittle and rigid nature of Gelatin MNs.

Abstract
The frequency and intensity of cyanobacterial blooms is increasing worldwide. Multiple factors are implicated, most of which are anthropogenic. New Zealand provides a useful location to study the impacts of human settlement on lake ecosystems. The first humans (Polynesians) arrived about 750 years ago. Following their settlement, there were marked landscape modifications which intensified after European settlement about 150 years ago. The aims of this study were to reconstruct cyanobacterial communities in six lakes over the last 1000 years and explore key drivers of change. Cyanobacterial environmental DNA was extracted from sediment cores and analysed using metabarcoding and droplet digital PCR. Cyanobacteria, including potentially toxic or bloom forming species, were already present in these lakes prior to human arrival, however their overall abundance was low. Total cyanobacteria abundance and richness increased in all lakes after European settlement but was very pronounced in four lakes, where bloom-forming taxa became dominant. These shifts occurred concomitant with land-use change. The catchment of one deteriorated lake is only moderately modified, thus the introduction of non-native fish is posited as the key factor driving this change. The paleolimnological approach used in this study has enabled new insights into timing and potential causes of changes in cyanobacterial communities.

A Sahiwal breed heifer calf of ~ 5-month age was presented with numerous warts of varying sizes principally on head, face and neck. The history and clinical examination were suggestive of bovine cutaneous papillomatosis. The animal was treated medically with an alternative medicine: Thuja occidentalis 30X. The warts regressed completely after two months of treatment with Thuja occidentalis, suggesting this medicine can be used to treat warts in bovines successfully.

Abstract
In current study, novel in situ formed injectable self-assembled thermoreversible depot gels based on N-(Vinylcaprolactam) were synthesized with a carbohydrate polymer i.e. sodium alginate in aqueous solution using cold method. The prepared gels preparations were intended to be utilized as 5-FU delivery depot after injectable administration through subcutaneous route. The structural characterization of self-assembled gels samples were studied through FTIR. The thermal properties of newly formed gels complexes were investigated by DSC and TGA. While the morphology of gels were assessed through SEM. The tunable gelation temperatures and phase transition of optimized formulations were confirmed by tube inverting, rheology determination and optical transmittance test. Thermo and pH response was evaluated at different temperatures and in various acidic and basic buffer solutions. In vitro release experiments were conducted using Franz diffusion system to monitor the controlled delivery fashion of gels matrices. Results concluded that depot gels exhibit controlled delivery fashion with maximum release at pH 7.4 and 37 ± 2 °C. The biocompatible nature of blank gels samples was assessed by MTT assay against Vero cell lines and was found safe. While killing ability of 5-FU encapsulated gels was evaluated against HeLa (19 ± 0.22 μg/ml; 23 ± 0.55 μg/ml) and MCF-7 (21 ± 0.06 μg/ml and 22 ± 0.34 μg/ml) cancer cell lines and were found effective to kill cancer cells. Histopathological study showed that gels depot is safe with no harmful effects on major organs. The in vivo bioavailability in rabbits showed controlled release (Cmax, 4465.78 ± 1.99 ng/ml) in comparison to free drug (Cmax, 4883.73 ± 3.32 ng/ml) administration after subcutaneous injection.

Abstract
Suburbanization and changes in societal habits have led to a paradigm shift towards
products that are nutritionally rich and therapeutic. However, the indispensable wheat
flour in the bakery industry is also a trigger for gluten-related disorders. The present
research focused on the characterization of nutritional and functional properties of glutenfree cereals-pearl millet, buckwheat, amaranth and unripe banana flours in comparison
with wheat flour. The data were evaluated using analysis of variance and the difference
between specific pair of means was compared using Duncan’s multiple range test at a 95%
confidence interval. Pearson correlation analysed the interaction amongst derived
parameters. The results were significantly different (p<0.05) except for oil-absorbing
capacity. The gluten-free flours reported higher protein (15.55% for amaranth),
carbohydrates (82.69% for unripe banana) and energy content (384.72 kcal/g for pearl
millet) compared to wheat flour whereas the moisture (6.26% for pearl millet) and fat
content (0.98% for unripe banana) were lower. Amaranth had the highest water holding
capacity and foam capacity (3.86 mL/g and 26.62% respectively) but the lowest foam
stability (89.20%). Pearson correlation showed significant relations among functional
properties and food components. Oil-absorbing capacity was found to be positively
correlated to protein and negatively to carbohydrates and foam stability. The foam
capacity was strongly correlated with different food components. The protein-rich and
high energy gluten-free flours along with their functional properties can aid in the
development of composite flour and fill the gap in the demand-supply of the therapeutic
gluten-free diet.
