Abstract
Objective: To explore the value of MRI diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) in the white matter changes of short-term methamphetamine (MA) abstinence. Methods: The data of DTI, demographics features, general information of addiction and impulsivity scale eleven (BIS-11) of 55 short-term MA addicts who were from Changsha, Zhuzhou and Yueyang compulsory detoxification centers in Hunan province, including 40 males and 15 females, aged 14-45 (37.24±7.31) years old, and 52 healthy controls, including 40 males and 12 females aged 18-59 (40.3±9.1) years were collected prospectively from August 2017 to December 2018. The differences of DTI indicators between the two groups were compared by tract-based spatial statistics (TBSS), and then the correlation between the different indicators and the age of first MA use, time of MA use, daily dose used, BIS-11 score were performed. Results: There were significant differences in BIS total score(P<0.001), BIS motivational impulsivity(P<0.001) and BIS attentional impulsivity(P=0.003) between MA group and healthy control group in short-term withdrawal. And compared with the healthy control group, the fractional anisotropy (FA) (0.58±0.02 vs 0.56±0.02,0.77±0.02 vs 0.75±0.04,0.79±0.04 vs 0.76±0.06; all P<0.05), axial diffusivity (AD) (0.57±0.01 vs 0.56±0.02,P=0.001) and mean diffusivity (MD) (0.66±0.02 vs 0.65±0.02,0.52±0.07 vs 0.51±0.06; both P<0.05)values in the MA group were all increased (P<0.05), but there was no significant difference in the radial diffusivity (RD) value (P>0.05). The white matter areas with increased FA value were located in the knee and body of corpus callosum, bilateral anterior corona radiata and left superior corona radiata; the areas with increased AD value were located in the knee, body and pressure of corpus callosum, bilateral anterior limb of internal capsule, posterior limb of internal capsule, anterior, superior and posterior corona radiata, external capsule and superior longitudinal fasciculus; and the areas with increased MD value were mainly located in the right superior longitudinal fasciculus, anterior and posterior limb of internal capsule. The corpus callosum, where there was a difference in FA between the two groups, was positively correlated with the daily dose of MA (r=0.301, P=0.026). Conclusion: MA addicted individuals with short-term withdrawal have white matter edema and damage, and the degree of corpus callosum damage is positively correlated with the daily dose of MA,which is helpful to understand the pathophysiological process of white matter damage in the nervous system and the potential mechanism of neuropsychiatric symptoms in short-term withdrawal MA addicted individuals.

Abstract
Aldehydes are primary volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in local Chinese chicken meat and contribute green grass, fatty, citrus, and bitter almond aromas to chicken meat. To understand the genetic basis of these aldehyde VOC aromas, we used approximately 500 Chinese Jingxing Yellow (JXY) chickens to conduct genome-wide association studies (GWAS) on the flavor traits with the data of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and insertions and deletions (INDELs). In total, 501 association variants (253 SNPs and 248 INDELs) were found to be suggestively (SNPs: p-value < 2.77e-06 and INDELs: p-value < 3.78e-05) associated with total aldehydes (the sum of nine aldehydes), hexanal, heptanal, benzaldehyde, (E,E)-2,4-nonadienal, octanal, (E)-2-decenal, nonanal, decanal, and octadecanal. Of them, six SNPs and 23 INDELs reached a genome-wide significance level (SNPs: p-value < 1.38e-07 and INDELs: p-value < 1.89e-06). Potential candidate aldehyde genes were functionally annotated for lipid metabolism, especially fatty acid-related pathways and phospholipid-related gene ontology (GO) terms. Moreover, the GWAS analysis of total aldehydes, hexanal, and nonanal generated the most significant signals, and phenotypic content differed between different genotypes at candidate gene-related loci. For total aldehydes and hexanal traits, candidate genes were annotated based on the significant and suggestive variants on chromosomes 3 and 8 with highly polymorphic linkage blocks. The following candidate genes were also identified: GALM, MAP4K3, GPCPD1, RPS6KA2, CRLS1, ASAP1, TRMT6, SDC1, PUM2, ALDH9A1, MGST3, GMEB1, MECR, LDLRAP1, GPAM and ACSL5. We also found that polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) (C18:2n6c linoleic acid and C18:3n3 linolenic acid) were significantly correlated with total aldehydes and hexanal contents. PUFAs are important aldehyde precursors, and consistently, our results suggested that candidate genes involved in fatty acid pathways and phospholipid GO terms were identified in association loci. This work provides an understanding of the genetic basis of aldehyde formation, which is a key flavor-forming compound.

Abstract
PurposeThe research on structure function recognition mainly concentrates on identifying a specific part of academic literature and its applicability in the multidiscipline perspective. A specific part of academic literature, such as sentences, paragraphs and chapter contents are also called a level of academic literature in this paper. There are a few comparative research works on the relationship between models, disciplines and levels in the process of structure function recognition. In view of this, comparative research on structure function recognition based on deep learning has been conducted in this paper.Design/methodology/approachAn experimental corpus, including the academic literature of traditional Chinese medicine, library and information science, computer science, environmental science and phytology, was constructed. Meanwhile, deep learning models such as convolutional neural networks (CNN), long and short-term memory (LSTM) and bidirectional encoder representation from transformers (BERT) were used. The comparative experiments of structure function recognition were conducted with the help of the deep learning models from the multilevel perspective.FindingsThe experimental results showed that (1) the BERT model performed best, with F1 values of 78.02, 89.41 and 94.88%, respectively at the level of sentence, paragraph and chapter content. (2) The deep learning models performed better on the academic literature of traditional Chinese medicine than on other disciplines in most cases, e.g. F1 values of CNN, LSTM and BERT, respectively arrived at 71.14, 69.96 and 78.02% at the level of sentence. (3) The deep learning models performed better at the level of chapter content than other levels, the maximum F1 values of CNN, LSTM and BERT at 91.92, 74.90 and 94.88%, respectively. Furthermore, the confusion matrix of recognition results on the academic literature was introduced to find out the reason for misrecognition.Originality/valueThis paper may inspire other research on structure function recognition, and provide a valuable reference for the analysis of influencing factors.

Abstract
Background Whether the decline of hepatitis B virus (HBV) RNA was associated with antiviral efficacy in chronic hepatitis B (CHB) patients receiving long-term nucleos(t)ide analogues (NAs) therapy remains unclear. We observed the levels of serum HBV RNA in CHB patients treated with entecavir (ETV) for 10 years and explored the clinical significance of HBV RNA during long-term antiviral treatment. Methods A total of 33 hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg)-positive CHB patients treated with ETV for up to 10 years were recruited for this study. Liver function, HBsAg, hepatitis B envelope antigen (HBeAg), HBV DNA, and HBV RNA were measured at the baseline and each follow-up points. Antiviral efficacy was defined as negative HBV DNA (<20 IU/mL) and HBV RNA (<300 Copies/mL). Results (I) Serum HBV DNA and HBV RNA declined with the duration of antiviral treatment over 10 years (P<0.001). (II) There were positive correlations between serum HBV DNA and HBV RNA at each follow-up point (r=0.62 and P<0.001 at baseline, r=0.77 and P<0.001 at week 24, r=0.71 and P<0.001 at week 48, r=0.81 and P<0.001 at week 96, r=0.60 and P<0.01 at year 5 and r=0.77 and P<0.001 at year 10). (III) HBeAg and HBsAg levels at baseline and 10th year after ETV treatment have significant difference (P<0.05 and P<0.01). (IV) The decline of HBV RNA after ETV treatment was associated with HBeAg seroconversion, the area under the ROC curves (AUROCs) of the declines of HBV RNA were 0.25 at the baseline, 0.62 at week 24, 0.78 at week 48 and 0.86 at week 96, respectively. (V) The decline of HBV RNA after ETV treatment was associated with antiviral efficacy, the AUROCs of the declines of HBV RNA were 0.33 at the baseline, 0.74 at week 24, 0.83 at week 48 and 0.86 at week 96, respectively. Conclusions Serum HBV DNA and HBV RNA declined with the duration of antiviral treatment over 10 years. The decline of HBV RNA was associated with HBeAg seroconversion and antiviral efficacy in CHB patients receiving long-term ETV therapy, and the earliest prediction point was week 24.

Abstract
Single crystals of BaTiO3 exhibit small switching fields and energies, but thin-film performance is considerably worse, thus precluding their use in next-generation devices. Here, we demonstrate high-quality BaTiO3 thin films with nearly bulk-like properties. Thickness scaling provides access to the coercive voltages (<100 mV) and fields (<10 kV cm-1) required for future applications and results in a switching energy of <2 J cm-3 (corresponding to <2 aJ per bit in a 10 × 10 × 10 nm3 device). While reduction in film thickness reduces coercive voltage, it does so at the expense of remanent polarization. Depolarization fields impact polar state stability in thicker films but fortunately suppress the coercive field, thus driving a deviation from Janovec-Kay-Dunn scaling and enabling a constant coercive field for films <150 nm in thickness. Switching studies reveal fast speeds (switching times of ~2 ns for 25-nm-thick films with 5-µm-diameter capacitors) and a pathway to subnanosecond switching. Finally, integration of BaTiO3 thin films onto silicon substrates is shown. We also discuss what remains to be demonstrated to enable the use of these materials for next-generation devices.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the serum microRNA (miRNA) expression and examine the impact of miRNA expression profiles on T helper type 17 (Th17)/regulatory T cells (Treg) imbalance among patients with cystic echinococcosis, so as to provide insights into the illustration of the mechanisms underlying chronic Echinococcus granulosus infections, and long-term pathogenesis. METHODS Total RNA was extracted from the sera of cystic echinococcosis patients and healthy controls, and subjected to high-throughput sequencing with the Illumina sequencing platform. Known miRNAs were annotated and new miRNAs were predicted using the miRBase database and the miRDeep2 tool, and differentially expressed miRNAs were identified. The target genes of differentially expressed miRNAs were predicted using the software miRanda and TargetScan, and the intersection was selected for Gene Ontology (GO) enrichment analysis and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway analysis. Among the differentially expressed miRNAs with the 20 highest fold changes, miRNAs that targeted genes relating to key transcription factors RORC and FOXP3 that determine the production of Th17 and Treg cells or their important regulatory pathways (PI3K-Akt and mTOR pathways) were matched. RESULTS A total of 53 differentially expressed miRNAs were screened in sera of cystic echinococcosis patients and healthy controls, including 47 up-regulated miRNAs and 6 down-regulated miRNAs. GO enrichment analysis showed that these differentially expressed miRNA were involved DNA transcription and translation, cell components, cell morphology, neurodevelopment and metabolic decomposition, and KEGG pathway analysis showed that the differentially expressed miRNA were mainly involved in MAPK, PI3K-Akt and mTOR signaling pathways. Among the differentially expressed miRNAs with the 20 highest fold changes, there were 3 miRNAs that had a potential for target regulation of RORC, and 15 miRNAs that had a potential to target the PI3K-Akt and mTOR signaling pathways. CONCLUSIONS Significant changes are found in serum miRNA expression profiles among patients with E. granulosus infections, and differentially expressed miRNAs may lead to Th17/Treg imbalance through targeting the key transcription factors of Th17/Treg or PI3K-Akt and mTOR pathways, which facilitates the long-term parasitism of E. granulosus in hosts and causes a chronic disease.

Abstract
Background Morphological characteristics of major facial hyperpigmented spots have been well documented. However, detailed alterations of respective transcriptional profile for each spot and in-depth comparisons across multiple spot types have not been reported. Objectives To comprehensively assess and compare multiple facial hyperpigmented spot types at the morphological and molecular levels by utilising transcriptional expression profiling with correlation to quantified histological features. Methods Multiple types of facial spot biopsies were collected from Chinese women and compared to additional biopsies taken from adjacent healthy skin. The types of spots included Solar Lentigos with both elongated dermal-epidermal junction (DEJ) (SL[E]) and flat DEJ (SL[F]), Seborrhoeic Keratosis (SK), Melasma, Freckles, Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation of resolving acne (PIH[A]) and other stimuli (PIH[O]). Combined histomorphometry, immunohistology, and transcriptome analysis for suprabasal-epidermis, basal-epidermis, and dermal compartments dissected by Laser Capture Microdissection (LCM) were conducted and compared across different spot types. Results Each spot type was confirmed to have the unique histological pathology already documented elsewhere. Most of the spot types except Melasma and PIH (A) revealed similar melanocyte density to adjacent skin. All spots exhibited increased melanin synthesis, melanosome transportation, as well as enhanced melanocyte dendricity, however, each spot revealed a distinct transcriptome regulation pattern in pigmentation pathways. Upregulation of pigmentation genes was also observed in the dermis of SL(F), SL(E), SK and PIH(O), associated with significant modulation of DEJ related genes in basal-epidermis and/or dermal compartments, suggesting potential melanocyte infiltration into the dermis due to impaired DEJ quality. Beyond upregulated pigmentation, for most spots, gene expression in the suprabasal-epidermis regulating keratinisation was significantly upregulated in conjunction with thickened stratum corneum. Furthermore, downregulation of tight junction related genes represented by claudin-1 was observed in majority of spot types, suggesting compromised barrier function could be a similarity across spots. Additionally, Cyclin-Dependent Kinase Inhibitor 2A (CDKN2A) was upregulated in all types of spots, indicating involvement of cell senescence as a common theme. Conclusion This comprehensive and comparative study based on the histological and transcriptional analysis of three skin compartments provided unique insights into specific causations as well as differences and similarities across multiple hyperpigmented spot types.

Abstract
Objective: To address the limitations of existing methods and tools for evaluating clinical practice guidelines, we aimed to develop a comprehensive instrument focusing on the three main dimensions of guideline development: scientificity, transparency, applicability. We will use it to rank the guidelines according to the scores. We abbreviated it as STAR, and its reliability, validity and usability were also tested. Methods: A multidisciplinary expert working group was set up, including methodologists, statisticians, journal editors, medical professionals, and others. Scoping review, Delphi methods and hierarchical analysis were used to determine the final checklist of STAR. Results: The new instrument contained 11 domains and 39 items. Intrinsic reliability of each domain was indicated by Cronbach's α coefficient, with a average value of 0.646. The Cohen's kappa coefficients for methodological evaluators and clinical evaluators were 0.783 and 0.618. The overall content validity index was 0.905. The R2 for the criterion validity analysis was 0.76. The average score for usability of the items was 4.6, and the mean time spent to evaluate each guideline was 20 minutes. Conclusion: The instrument has good reliability, validity and evaluating efficiency, and can be used for evaluating and ranking guidelines more comprehensively.

Abstract
Purpose: To generate and evaluate individualized post-therapeutic optical coherence tomography (OCT) images that could predict the short-term response of anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) therapy for diabetic macular edema (DME) based on pre-therapeutic images using generative adversarial network (GAN). Methods: Real-world imaging data were collected at the Department of Ophthalmology, Qilu Hospital. A total of 561 pairs of pre-therapeutic and post-therapeutic OCT images of patients with DME were retrospectively included in the training set, 71 pre-therapeutic OCT images were included in the validation set, and their corresponding post-therapeutic OCT images were used to evaluate the synthetic images. A pix2pixHD method was adopted to predict post-therapeutic OCT images in DME patients that received anti-VEGF therapy. The quality and similarity of synthetic OCT images were evaluated independently by a screening experiment and an evaluation experiment. Results: The post-therapeutic OCT images generated by the GAN model based on big data were comparable to the actual images, and the response of edema resorption was also close to the ground truth. Most synthetic images (65/71) were difficult to differentiate from the actual OCT images by retinal specialists. The mean absolute error (MAE) of the central macular thickness (CMT) between the synthetic OCT images and the actual images was 24.51 ± 18.56 μm. Conclusions: The application of GAN can objectively demonstrate the individual short-term response of anti-VEGF therapy one month in advance based on OCT images with high accuracy, which could potentially help to improve treatment compliance of DME patients, identify patients who are not responding well to treatment and optimize the treatment program.

Abstract
How to mitigate greenhouse gas emission and achieve human development remain major sustainability issues, particularly in China. Empirical research on the effects of climate warming and social change on human health and wellbeing is quite fragmented. This study examines the impact of environmental issues and social changes on health and human wellbeing using a time series data of China from 1991 to 2020. Findings show that environmental issues have a negative impact on health and human wellbeing in long run. While the internet is a form of social change that tends to improve health and human wellbeing in the long run. FDI exerts a positive effect on human health, but it does not improve wellbeing in the long run. In contrast, financial development does not improve human health but it has a significant positive impact on wellbeing in the long run. Our empirical insights have important implications for achieving human wellbeing through the pursuit of environmental sustainability and social change.

Abstract
Improving glucose sensitivity remains an unmet medical need in treating type 2 diabetes (T2D). Dorzagliatin is a dual-acting, orally bioavailable glucokinase activator that enhances glucokinase activity in a glucose-dependent manner, improves glucose-stimulated insulin secretion and demonstrates effects on glycemic control in patients with T2D. We report the findings of a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled phase 3 clinical trial to evaluate the efficacy and safety of dorzagliatin in patients with T2D. Eligible drug-naïve patients with T2D (n = 463) were randomly assigned to the dorzagliatin or placebo group at a ratio of 2:1 for 24 weeks of double-blind treatment, followed by 28 weeks of open-label treatment with dorzagliatin for all patients. The primary efficacy endpoint was the change in glycated hemoglobin from baseline to week 24. Safety was assessed throughout the trial. At week 24, the least-squares mean change in glycated hemoglobin from baseline (95% confidence interval) was -1.07% (-1.19%, -0.95%) in the dorzagliatin group and -0.50% (-0.68%, -0.32%) in the placebo group (estimated treatment difference, -0.57%; 95% confidence interval: -0.79%, -0.36%; P < 0.001). The incidence of adverse events was similar between the two groups. There were no severe hypoglycemia events or drug-related serious adverse events in the dorzagliatin group. In summary, dorzagliatin improved glycemic control in drug-naïve patients with T2D and showed a good tolerability and safety profile.

Abstract
Metformin, the first-line therapy for type 2 diabetes (T2D), decreases hepatic glucose production and reduces fasting plasma glucose levels. Dorzagliatin, a dual-acting orally bioavailable glucokinase activator targeting both the pancreas and liver glucokinase, decreases postprandial glucose in patients with T2D. In this randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled phase 3 trial, the efficacy and safety of dorzagliatin as an add-on therapy to metformin were assessed in patients with T2D who had inadequate glycemic control using metformin alone. Eligible patients with T2D (n = 767) were randomly assigned to receive dorzagliatin or placebo (1:1 ratio) as an add-on to metformin (1,500 mg per day) for 24 weeks of double-blind treatment, followed by 28 weeks of open-label treatment with dorzagliatin for all patients. The primary efficacy endpoint was the change in glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) levels from baseline to week 24, and safety was assessed throughout the trial. At week 24, the least-squares mean change from baseline in HbA1c (95% confidence interval (CI)) was -1.02% (-1.11, -0.93) in the dorzagliatin group and -0.36% (-0.45, -0.26) in the placebo group (estimated treatment difference, -0.66%; 95% CI: -0.79, -0.53; P < 0.0001). The incidence of adverse events was similar between groups. There were no severe hypoglycemia events or drug-related serious adverse events in the dorzagliatin and metformin combined therapy group. In patients with T2D who experienced inadequate glycemic control with metformin alone, dorzagliatin resulted in effective glycemic control with good tolerability and safety profile ( NCT03141073 ).

Abstract
ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE Schisandra chinensis decoction derived from the book of Waitai Miyao (Tao Wang, Tang dynasty) is often used in the treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), which is included in the Grand Ceremony of Chinese formulae (Huairen Peng, 1994). Schisandrae Chinensis Fructus (Sch) is one of the most important herbs in this formula. According to the "Shennong's Herbal Classicherbal" of the Han Dynasty, Sch has sour taste, warm nature, which has the effect of tonifying qi and curing cough. In addition, according to the "Compendium of Materia Medica" of the Ming Dynasty, Sch is used to treat cough and asthma, which has the effect of moistening the lung and tonifying the kidney. However, the active ingredients of Sch absorption into the plasma and its pharmacological mechanism of treatment for IPF still remained unclear. AIM OF THE STUDY Our research aimed at identifying the absorbed active ingredients and metabolized of Sch in rat plasma and the mechanism of anti-IPF based on serum pharmacochemistry. MATERIALS AND METHODS First, the rats were divided into control group and Sch group. Sch sample was orally administrated to the rats for seven days. The blood samples were drawn into an Eppendorf tube after the last dosing. The ultrahigh performance liquid chromatography coupled with quadrupole-time of flight mass spectrometry (UPLC-Q-TOF/MS) was applied to identify the absorption components and metabolites of Sch in rat plasma. Second, the network pharmacology combined with molecular docking analysis was further investigated to illuminate its potential mechanism of treatment for IPF by the biological targets regulating related pathways. Finally, the mechanism of action was verified by experimental in vitro and in vivo. RESULTS A total of 78 compounds, consist of 13 prototype lignans and 65 metabolites (including isomers) were identified. Network pharmacology study and molecular docking analysis indicated that schisandrol A (L1) play an anti-fibrosis role by regulating the TGF-β signaling pathway. Experimental in vitro and in vivo verified that the schisandrol A could inhibiting pulmonary fibrosis through TGF-β signaling pathway. The effect and mechanism of schisandrol A inhibiting pulmonary fibrosis were reported for the first time. CONCLUSIONS In this study, the absorption active ingredients of Sch in rat plasma were combined with the network pharmacology investigation and experimental in vitro and in vivo to elucidate its biological mechanism of treatment for IPF. The results provided a theoretical support for understanding the bioactive compounds and the pharmacological mechanism of Sch.

Abstract
Yeast cultures (YCs) are defined as promising feed additives that maintain the health of birds and improve growth performance by modulating gut microbiota. YCs contain effective metabolites such as glycine, fructose, inositol, galactose, and sucrose. This study investigated the effects of YCs and their effective metabolites on carcass traits and cecal microflora in broilers. A total of 280 one-day-old mixed-sex Arbor Acres broilers were randomly allocated to seven groups. The basal diet (control DZ) was supplemented with various proportions of glycine, fructose, inositol, galactose, and sucrose (Groups A, B, and C), 24-hour grown Saccharomyces cerevisiae cultures (Group D) (YC), and a commercial yeast culture product (SZ) at concentrations of 0.1% and 1% (Groups E and F). Bodyweight of broilers was correlated positively with proportions of Proteobacteria in Group C and Lactobacillus and Roseburia in Group B (P <0.05). Broilers fed diets supplemented with YC or its active metabolites had the highest proportions of bacteria involved in nucleotide metabolism, and amino acid and carbohydrate metabolism. These results suggested that the dietary addition of YC could alter the proliferation of beneficial bacteria in broilers.

Abstract
Siglec-15 is an immune suppressor with broad upregulation on various cancer types and has emerged as a potential target for cancer immunotherapy. However, it remains unclear how SIGLEC15 expression is controlled in normal or cancer cells. In this work, we utilized reporter assays to evaluate the impact of the 5' UTR and the 3' UTR of SIGLEC15 mRNA on gene expression. We found that the 3' UTR dramatically reduced reporter protein production, whereas the 5' UTR showed modest inhibitory effect. Quantification of steady-state mRNA revealed the good coupling of protein amount and mRNA abundance that was associated with the 3' UTR. In contrast, the 5' UTR had little effect on mRNA abundance compared with the empty control. By measuring mRNA half-life, we showed that the 3' UTR markedly promoted mRNA degradation. Testing shortened 3' UTR fragments demonstrated five out of the six having notable inhibitory effect, with the one spanning 993-1317 had the most robust activity. More interestingly, the 993-1317 region contains a predicted 43-nt stem-loop structure that showed apparent inhibitory activity in four cell lines tested. These results suggested that the 3' UTR inhibited reporter gene expression by accelerating mRNA decay possibly via multiple cis-regulatory elements, but the 5' UTR repressed gene expression by inhibiting translation. Thus, our findings provided a clue to the molecular mechanism underlying the regulation of SIGLEC15 expression.

Abstract
The aim of this study is to explore the relationship between serum magnesium (Mg2+) level and diabetic retinopathy (DR) in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). The clinical data of 2222 patients with T2DM, including 713 patients with DR and 1509 patients without DR, between September 2016 and August 2020 in our hospital, were analyzed retrospectively. Further, the role and predictive value of serum Mg2+ on the prevalence of DR were determined through logistic regression and the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve respectively. The level of serum Mg2+ was lower in DR group than that in non-DR group (0.92 vs 0.88 mmol/L, P < 0.001). Stratified serum Mg2+ levels into quartiles (Q1-Q4), the first (Q1, Mg2+ ≤ 0.85 mmol/L) and fourth quartile (Q4, ≥ 0.96 mmol/L) represented the lowest and highest quartile, respectively. And the incidence of DR was obviously higher in Q1 and Q2 than that in Q3 and Q4 (50.9% and 30.2% vs 23.5% and 21%, respectively). Logistic regression demonstrated that there remained an independent association between lower serum Mg2+ levels and the occurrence of DR (OR were 3.907 and 1.709 in Q1 and Q2, respectively) no matter whether the interference of confounding variables. ROC curve showed the best cut-off value of serum Mg2+ level in predicting the occurrence of DR was 0.875 mmol/L. Lower Mg2+ levels are related with an increased risk of developing DR. Serum Mg2+ level can be a potential clinical indicator to help identify DR in patients with T2DM.

Abstract
Quantifying the driving effect of each factor on atmospheric secondary pollutants is crucial for pollution prevention. We aim to establish a simple and accessible method to identify ozone (O3) and particulate matter (PM2.5) concentration trends induced by emissions and meteorology. The method comprises five main steps, which involve matrix construction and mutual calculations, and the whole process is demonstrated and verified by employing long-term monitoring data. With regard to the case study, O3 and PM2.5 concentration variance between the target and base year are respectively -4.74 and 0.20 μg/m3 under same meteorological conditions, among which the contribution of the emissions driver and meteorological driver are respectively -5.81 and 1.07 μg/m3 for O3 and respectively 0.55 and -0.35 μg/m3 for PM2.5. Additionally, 84.45% of O3 variance is attributable to the emissions driver in terms of relative importance, which is 52.88% for PM2.5. The meteorological driver is further separated into atmospheric secondary reaction and regional transport. The results reveal that ongoing prevention policy for O3 is effective; however, it needs to be further optimized for PM2.5.

Abstract
Bioengineering majors require students to acquire excellent abilities of thinking and analyzing complex problems and have high requirements for students' comprehensive practical skills. Because of the professional characteristics, it is necessary to develop students' abilities to solve complex problems via the teaching of a series of experiments. Therefore, it is particularly important to reform the traditional experiment teaching for students majoring in bioengineering to improve the teaching quality, which have great significance for the cultivation of comprehensive talents. In this study, with the advantages of geographical location and resources to cultivate application-oriented innovative talents, the course group of Comprehensive Experiment of Bioengineering has designed the course based on virtual simulation technology in Binzhou University. Taking the experiment of extraction and bioactivity analysis of Suaeda salsa (growing in the Yellow River Delta) polysaccharide in fermentation as a case, we studied the course design idea, experimental process, teaching method and result analysis, and have improved the teaching performance. This case analysis provides new ideas and content reference for the teaching reform of similar courses.
