Abstract
Developing high-efficiency catalysts for peroxymonosulfate (PMS)-based advanced oxidation processes is important for eliminating pollutants in water. Herein, α-MnO2 with major exposed {110} and {100} facets prepared via a hydrothermal method were used as catalysts to activate PMS for the degradation of Orange Ⅰ (OⅠ). α-MnO2-100, with more abundant surface hydroxyl groups and greater reductive ability, performed remarkably better than α-MnO2-110 for degrading OⅠ. OⅠ removal of 86.20% was obtained in the α-MnO2-100/PMS system. The apparent rate constant of OⅠ removal over α-MnO2-100 was 2.11 times higher than that of α-MnO2-110. The effects of PMS concentration, catalyst dosage, OⅠ concentration, initial pH, anions and humic acid (HA) on OⅠ degradation in the α-MnO2-100/PMS system were systematically investigated. Quenching experiments and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) demonstrated that SO4•-, •OH, O2•- and 1O2 were the reactive oxygen species (ROS) in the α-MnO2-100/PMS system. Moreover, the possible degradation pathway of OⅠ in the α-MnO2-100/PMS system was proposed. This work provides an ideal metal oxide catalyst for sewage remediation.

Abstract
Background Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) has high mortality and is mainly related to the circulatory failure.Therefore, real-time monitoring of cardiac function and structural changes has important clinical significance.Transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) is a simple and noninvasive real-time cardiac examination which is widely used in intensive care unit (ICU) patients.The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of TTE on the prognosis of ICU patients with ARDS.
Methods The data of ARDS patients were retrieved from the MIMIC-III v1.4 database and patients were divided into the TTE group and non-TTE group. The baseline data were compared between the two groups. The effect of TTE on the prognosis of ARDS patients was analyzed through multivariate logistic analysis and the propensity score (PS). The primary outcome was the 28-d mortality rate. The secondary outcomes included pulmonary artery catheter (PAC) and Pulse index continuous cardiac output (PiCCO) administration, the ventilator-free and vasopressor-free days and total intravenous infusion volume on days 1, 2 and 3 of the mechanical ventilation. To illuminate the effect of echocardiography on the outcomes of ARDS patients,a sensitivity analysis was conducted by excluding those patients receiving either PiCCO or PAC. We also performed a subgroup analysis to assess the impact of TTE timing on the prognosis of patients with ARDS.
Results A total of 1,346 ARDS patients were enrolled, including 519 (38.6%) cases in the TTE group and 827 (61.4%) cases in the non-TTE group. In the multivariate logistic regression, the 28-day mortality of patients in the TTE group was greatly improved (OR 0.71, 95%CI 0.55–0.92, P = 0.008). More patients in the TTE group received PAC (2% vs. 10%, P < 0.001) and the length of ICU stay in the TTE group was significantly shorter than that in the non-TTE group (17d vs.14d, P = 0.0001). The infusion volume in the TTE group was significantly less than that of the non-TTE group (6.2L vs.5.5L on day 1, P = 0.0012). Importantly, the patients in the TTE group were weaned ventilators earlier than those in the non-TTE group (ventilator-free days within 28 d: 21 d vs. 19.8 d, respectively, P = 0.071). The Kaplan–Meier survival curves showed that TTE patients had significant lower 28-day mortality than non-TTE patients (log-rank = 0.004). Subgroup analysis showed that TTE after hemodynamic disorders can not improve prognosis (OR 1.02, 95%CI 0.79–1.34, P = 0.844).
Conclusion TTE was associated with improved 28-day outcomes in patients with ARDS.

Abstract
Human T-cell lymphotropic virus type 1 (HTLV-1) was the first retrovirus identified as the causative agent of human diseases, such as adult T-cell leukemia, HTLV-1-associated myelopathy, and HTLV-1 uveitis (HU). HU is one of the most frequent ocular inflammatory diseases in endemic areas, which has raised considerable public health concerns. Approximately 30% of HU patients develop secondary glaucoma, which is higher than the general uveitis incidence. We therefore investigated the mechanism underlying the high incidence of glaucoma secondary to HU in vitro. After contact with HTLV-1-producing T cells (MT-2), human trabecular meshwork cells (HTMCs) were infected. The infected cells increased in number, and nuclear factor (NF)-κB expression was activated. Contact between MT-2 cells and HTMCs resulted in significantly upregulated production of inflammatory cytokines, such as IL-6, and chemokines, such as CXCL10, CCL2, and CXCL-8. These findings indicate that the mechanism underlying secondary glaucoma in HU may involve proliferation of trabecular meshwork tissue after contact with HTLV-1-infected cells, resulting in decreased aqueous humor outflow. Upregulated production of inflammatory cytokines and chemokines simultaneously disrupts the normal trabecular meshwork function. This mechanism presumably leads to increased intraocular pressure, eventually resulting in secondary glaucoma.

Abstract
Background We aimed to explore the changes in the axial length and related factors after vitrectomy for rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RRD). Methods This study retrospectively evaluated patients who underwent vitrectomy with silicone oil (SO) tamponade for RRD and subsequent silicone oil removal at our clinic. Using a Zeiss IOLMaster 700, axial length was measured before vitrectomy for RRD and SO removal. The change in axial length (ΔAL) was calculated, and multivariate binary logistic regression analysis was performed to investigate the potential correlation between ΔAL and clinical factors, such as preoperative hypotony, extreme myopia, age, macular involvement, choroidal detachment, operation duration, and operation history. Results In total, 213 eyes from 213 patients were included. The mean axial length changed significantly pre- and post-vitrectomy (25.98 ± 2.87 mm and 26.25 ± 3.07 mm, respectively, P < 0.001); the mean ΔAL was 0.37 ± 0.62 mm. Multivariate binary logistic regression analysis showed that preoperative hypotony and extreme myopia were significantly correlated with the ΔAL (P = 0.001 and P = 0.001, respectively). A higher proportion of hypotonic eyes had ΔAL ≥ 0.3 mm (33/76 in hypotony eyes and 32/137 in others; P = 0.003). A higher proportion of extremely myopic eyes also had a ΔAL ≥ 0.3 mm (23/46 in extremely myopic eyes and 42/167 in others; P = 0.002). Conclusion For patients with RRD and cataracts, as axial length changed significantly after vitrectomy in those with hypotony or extreme myopia, secondary lOL implantation should be considered. Abstract
Background There have been lingering controversies reported decompression and plus fusion. And the relative safety of fusion in addition to standard decompression remains unclear. This study aimed to assess the effectiveness and safety of decompression alone or combined with fusion in lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS) with degenerative spondylolisthesis (DS). Methods In this systematic review and meta-analysis, we searched the databases of PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science for relevant literature from their inception to 28th December 2021. We identified the eligible studies based on the PICOS principles, populations (LSS with DS), interventions (decompression alone), controls (decompression combined with fusion), outcomes [overall reoperation rate, complications, Oswestry Disability Index (ODI), operative time, the amount of blood lost, length of stay (LOS), and visual analog scales (VAS)], study design (cohort studies). Quality assessment for individual study was performed with the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale (NOS). Results In all, 12 articles involving a total of 14,693 patients were finally included in the study, the majority of patients underwent decompression alone (DA group: n=11,598) and the rest underwent decompression associated with fusion (FU group: n=3,095). The quality of most of the included studies was regarded as high quality. The results indicated that the FU group had a higher rate of complication [relative risk (RR): 1.770, 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.485 to 2.110], longer operative time [weighted mean difference (WMD): 51.037, 95% CI: 13.743 to 88.330], and increased blood loss (WMD: 258.354, 95% CI: 150.468 to 366.239) than the DA group (all P<0.05), with no significant differences for overall reoperation rate (RR: 0.879, 95% CI: 0.432 to 1.786), ODI (WMD: −2.569, 95% CI: −6.548 to 1.409), LOS (WMD: 3.838, 95% CI: −2.172 to 9.848), and VAS found between the two groups (P>0.05). Conclusions In patients with LSS + DS, the effectiveness and safety of decompression alone may be superior to decompression plus fusion in terms of complication rate, operative time, and the amount of bleeding. However, more high-quality literature is needed in the future to confirm the best treatment choice for patients with LSS + DS.

Abstract
Background Glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis (GIOP) is the most common secondary osteoporosis, alendronate (ALE) and teriparatide (TPTD) are widely used in the treatment of GIOP. However, which of these two drugs has a better curative effect needs the support of evidence-based medicine. Methods We searched PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, and Google Scholar for randomized controlled trials of ALE and TPTD in the treatment of glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis until February 2022. These patients included in the study took glucocorticoid doses greater than 7.5 mg/d for more than 3 months before treatment with ALE and TPTD. The risk ratio (RR) and its 95% confidence interval (CI) are used as the influence index of discontinuous data, and the standardized mean difference (SMD) and its 95% CI are used as the influence index of continuous data. Results A total of 4102 patients were enrolled in all 5 studies that met the admission criteria. We found that compared with ALE, TPTD could reduce the rate of new vertebral fracture (RR = 0.13, 95% CI: 0.05–0.34, P<0.00001). TPTD increased LS bone mineral density (BMD) (0.53, 95% CI 0.42–0.64, P<0.00001), TH BMD (0.17, 95% CI 0.05–0.28, P = 0.004) and FN BMD (0.17, 95% CI 0.05–0.29, P = 0.006) compared to ALE. However, there was no significant difference in the incidence of non-vertebral fracture and adverse events between the two groups. Conclusions Compared with ALE, TPTD is an effective drug to reduce vertebral fracture risk in patients with GIOP. Furthermore, long-term use of TPTD can increase the bone mineral density of LS, FN, and TH.

Abstract
HTLV-1 uveitis (HU) is the third clinical entity to be designated as an HTLV-1-associated disease. Although HU is considered to be the second-most frequent HTLV-1-associated disease in Japan, information on HU is limited compared to that on adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma (ATL) and HTLV-1-associated myelopathy (HAM). Recent studies have addressed several long-standing uncertainties about HU. HTLV-1-related diseases are known to be caused mainly through vertical transmission (mother-to-child transmission), but emerging HTLV-1 infection by horizontal transmission (such as sexual transmission) has become a major problem in metropolitan areas, such as Tokyo, Japan. Investigation in Tokyo showed that horizontal transmission of HTLV-1 was responsible for HU with severe and persistent ocular inflammation. The development of ATL and HAM is known to be related to a high provirus load and hence involves a long latency period. On the other hand, factors contributing to the development of HU are poorly understood. Recent investigations revealed that severe HU occurs against a background of Graves’ disease despite a low provirus load and short latency period. This review highlights the recent knowledge on HU and provides an update on the topic of HU in consideration of a recent nationwide survey.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Nitraria sibirica Pall. is an economic plant with two kinds of fruit color, widely spreads in the Qinghai Tibet Plateau. The chemical analysis and pharmacological evaluation had been carried out for several tens of years, the mechanism behind the fruit color differentiation is still unclear. RESULTS In this manuscript, the chemical analysis of the extractions showed that the chemical composition of fruit color was anthocyanin, and two kind of Nitraria sibirica Pall. were caused by the content differentiation with the same anthocyanin kinds. Cyanidin-3-[2"-(6'"-coumaroyl)-glucosyl]-glucoside (C3G) was the major anthocyanin. Transcriptome analysis and the qRT-PCR revealed that the structural genes relative to anthocyanin biosynthesis except CHS, F3'5'H and ANS were up-regulated in the peels of BF (Black fruit) compared with the peels of RF (Red fruit), which indicated that transcript factor should be the reason for the expression difference of the structure genes. In the unigenes of the transcript factor MYB and bHLH, relative to anthocyanin, only NsMYB1 (Cluster 8422.10600), was high-expression and up-expression in the peels of BF. NsMYB1 encoded the same length protein with four amino acid differences in the RF and BF, and both contained the intact DNA, HTH-MYB and SANT domains. NsMYB1 was close to the AtMYB114, AtMYB113 and AtPAP1, regulating anthocyanin biosynthesis, in phylogenetic relationship. Both NsMYB1r and NsMYB1b could promote the transcript of the structural genes, and induced the anthocyanin accumulation in all tissues of transgenic tobacco. The insertion of 'TATA' in the promoter of NsMYB1r gave one more promoter region, and was the reason for higher transcripts in black fruit possibly. CONCLUSIONS Cyanidin-3-[2''-(6'"-coumaroyl)-glucosyl]-glucoside was the major anthocyanin in black fruit of Nitraria sibirica Pall.. NsMYB1 was a functional R2R3-MYB transcription factor, regulated the anthocyanin biosynthesis, and led to the fruit color differentiation in Nitraria sibirica Pall.

The main characteristic of depression is emotional dysfunction, manifested by increased levels of negative emotions and decreased levels of positive emotions. Therefore, accurate emotion recognition is an effective way to assess depression. Among the various signals used for emotion recognition, electroencephalogram (EEG) signal has attracted widespread attention due to its multiple advantages, such as rich spatiotemporal information in multi-channel EEG signals. First, we use filtering and Euclidean alignment for data preprocessing. In the feature extraction, we use short-time Fourier transform and Hilbert-Huang transform to extract time-frequency features, and convolutional neural networks to extract spatial features. Finally, bi-directional long short-term memory explored the timing relationship. Before performing the convolution operation, according to the unique topology of the EEG channel, the EEG features are converted into 3D tensors. This study has achieved good results on two emotion databases: SEED and Emotional BCI of 2020 WORLD ROBOT COMPETITION. We applied this method to the recognition of depression based on EEG and achieved a recognition rate of more than 70% under the five-fold cross-validation. In addition, the subject-independent protocol on SEED data has achieved a state-of-the-art recognition rate, which exceeds the existing research methods. We propose a novel EEG emotion recognition framework for depression detection, which provides a robust algorithm for real-time clinical depression detection based on EEG.

Abstract
Objective: To analyze the effect of psychological suggestion combined with rational food restriction therapy on blood glucose, lipid metabolism and mental resilience in patients with diabetes. Methods: Patients with diabetes admitted to the Third Hospital of Nanchang from January 2020 to August 2020 were divided into the control group and the intervention group with randomized controlled and single blind methods. The control group was treated with routine dietary guidance and health education, and the intervention group was treated with psychological suggestion combined with rational diet therapy on the basis of the control group. Both groups were treated for 3 months. Blood glucose, lipid metabolism, mental resilience and quality of life were compared between the two groups at baseline and after 3-month intervention. Differences between groups and within groups were analyzed by t test and χ2 test. Results: 100 patients in the control group and 81 patients in the intervention group completed 3-month intervention. After 3-month intervention, the levels of glycosylated hemoglobin, fasting blood glucose, 2-hour postprandial blood glucose, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol and triglyceride in both groups were lower than those before intervention. The levels of these indicators in intervention group were lower than those in control group (P<0.05). However, the levels of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol and the scores of tenacity, self-reliance, optimism, role function, emotional function, social function, physical function and cognitive function in both groups were higher than those before intervention. These indicators in intervention group were higher than those in control group (P<0.05). Conclusion: Psychological suggestion combined with rational food restriction therapy could effectively improve the glucose and lipid metabolism, mental resilience, and quality of life among patients with diabetes.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Previous cluster-randomized controlled trials evaluating the impact of implementing evidence-based guidelines for nutrition therapy in critical illness do not consistently demonstrate patient benefits. A large-scale, sufficiently powered study is therefore warranted to ascertain the effects of guideline implementation on patient-centered outcomes. METHODS We conducted a multicenter, cluster-randomized, parallel-controlled trial in intensive care units (ICUs) across China. We developed an evidence-based feeding guideline. ICUs randomly allocated to the guideline group formed a local "intervention team", which actively implemented the guideline using standardized educational materials, a graphical feeding protocol, and live online education outreach meetings conducted by members of the study management committee. ICUs assigned to the control group remained unaware of the guideline content. All ICUs enrolled patients who were expected to stay in the ICU longer than seven days. The primary outcome was all-cause mortality within 28 days of enrollment. RESULTS Forty-eight ICUs were randomized to the guideline group and 49 to the control group. From March 2018 to July 2019, the guideline ICUs enrolled 1399 patients, and the control ICUs enrolled 1373 patients. Implementation of the guideline resulted in significantly earlier EN initiation (1.20 vs. 1.55 mean days to initiation of EN; difference - 0.40 [95% CI - 0.71 to - 0.09]; P = 0.01) and delayed PN initiation (1.29 vs. 0.80 mean days to start of PN; difference 1.06 [95% CI 0.44 to 1.67]; P = 0.001). There was no significant difference in 28-day mortality (14.2% vs. 15.2%; difference - 1.6% [95% CI - 4.3% to 1.2%]; P = 0.42) between groups. CONCLUSIONS In this large-scale, multicenter trial, active implementation of an evidence-based feeding guideline reduced the time to commencement of EN and overall PN use but did not translate to a reduction in mortality from critical illness. Abstract
Vigorous development of electric vehicles is one way to achieve global carbon reduction goals. However, fires caused by thermal runaway of the power battery has seriously hindered large-scale development. Adding thermal runaway retardants (TRRs) to electrolytes is an effective way to improve battery safety, but it often reduces electrochemical performance. Therefore, it is difficult to apply in practice. TRR encapsulation is inspired by the core-shell structures such as cells, seeds, eggs, and fruits in nature. In these natural products, the shell isolates the core from the outside, and has to break as needed to expose the core, such as in seed germination, chicken hatching, etc. Similarly, TRR encapsulation avoids direct contact between the TRR and the electrolyte, so it does not affect the electrochemical performance of the battery during normal operation. When lithium-ion battery (LIB) thermal runaway occurs, the capsules release TRRs to slow down and even prevent further thermal runaway. This review aims to summarize the fundamentals of bioinspired TRR capsules and highlight recent key progress in LIBs with TRR capsules to improve LIB safety. It is anticipated that this review will inspire further improvement in battery safety, especially for emerging LIBs with high-electrochemical performance.

Abstract
Purpose: To investigate the characteristics of silicone oil (SO) emulsification after vitrectomy for rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RRD) and possible correlations with clinical factors. Methods: Patients who underwent primary pars plana vitrectomy with SO injection for RRD followed by SO removal at the Eye and ENT Hospital of Fudan University between January 2016 and January 2020 were included. Ultrasound biomicroscopy (UBM) images of the anterior segment were taken before SO removal. Eight signs of SO emulsification in the UBM images were graded as 1 (present) or 0 (not present) and the grades for all signs in each eye were summed. Correlations between SO emulsification grade and clinical factors were determined. Results: A total of 118 patients (118 eyes) were enrolled in this study. Emulsified SO particles were found in all 118 eyes (100%). The eight signs were more frequently detected in the superior part of the eye. The mean total SO emulsification grade was 19.99 ± 12.98 (range: 1-36). Younger age and male (both P < 0.05) were associated with higher total SO emulsification grade. Patients with intraocular pressure (IOP) > 21 mmHg or the use of antiglaucoma medications at the time of SO removal had a higher total SO emulsification grade, were younger, and were more frequently male (all P < 0.05) than patients without ocular hypertension. Conclusions: UBM could play an important role in the diagnosis and grading of SO emulsification. Younger patients and males are more prone to SO emulsification, which may lead to elevated IOP.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To preliminarily analyze factors that affected the prevalence of anxiety in Chinese patients with cleft lip and/or palate (CL/P). METHODS The Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale (GAD-7) was used to screen anxiety in Chinese CL/P patients. Non-CL/P individuals were also included as the control group. Sociodemographic and clinical data consisting of diagnosis, gender, only child or not, monthly household income, and current family location were collected to analyze possible factors that could affect the anxiety of this patient population. RESULTS One hundred forty-two and 78 valid questionnaires were collected from the study and control groups, respectively. The mean GAD-7 score of the study group (3.092 ± 3.381) was significantly lower than the control (3.987 ± 2.505). Moreover, the proportion of patients presenting with moderate-severe anxiety was larger in the study group than in the control group (6.6 vs. 0.0%). Statistically significant differences in GAD-7 scores were observed between the study and control groups when the patient was the only child, living in an urban area, or the monthly household income was between 1,000 and 5,000 yuan. CONCLUSION Although the severity of anxiety in Chinese CL/P patients was not severer than those without CL/P, there was a relatively high incidence of moderate-severe anxiety in CL/P patients, while the only child, current family location and the monthly household income played significant roles in affecting anxiety psychology.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To analyze obstructive sleep apnea (OSA)-related quality of life (QoL), the statuses of depression and anxiety, and to reveal the correlation between OSA-related QoL and two mental statuses in Chinese adolescent patients with cleft palate (CP). METHODS The Obstructive Sleep Apnea Questionaire-18 (OSA-18), the Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale (GAD-7) and the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) were applied to assess OSA-related QoL and the statuses of anxiety and depression in Chinese adolescent patients with CP, respectively. Non-CP adolescents were also included in the control group. OSA-related QoL and the two mental statuses were compared between the study and control groups. The correlation between the OSA-related QoL and two mental statuses was estimated in Chinese adolescent patients with CP. RESULTS A total of 8.7% patients showed a moderate or high impact of OSA on QoL, while all the adolescents from the control group showed little impact. The mean total OSA-18 score of the study group (36.261 ± 13.500) was significantly higher than the control (28.435 ± 8.934). The mean PHQ-9 scores of the study group and the control group were statistically different (3.957 vs. 2.113). The GAD-7 score in the study group was slightly higher than the control group (3.043 vs. 2.194), while the proportion of moderate-severe anxiety in the study group was relatively larger than that in the control group (6.5% vs. 1.6%). Moreover, there was a positive correlation between the OSA-related QoL and the statuses of anxiety and depression respectively, and the differences in GAD-7 and PHQ-9 scores between the moderate or high impact group and the little impact group were statistically significant. CONCLUSION Chinese adolescents with CP reported a rate of moderate or high impact of OSA on QoL of 8.7%, which was significantly higher than adolescents without CP. The OSA-related QoL was worse and depression was severer in Chinese CP adolescents than in the control, while anxiety and depression in Chinese CP adolescents were associated with OSA-related QoL.

Abstract
Purpose: To evaluate the changes in the retinal microvasculature and its reactivity in chronic cigarette smokers. Methods: Thirty-four male chronic cigarette smokers and 18 male non-smokers were enrolled. Optical coherence tomography angiography was used to measure the perfused retinal vessel densities (PVDs) of the peripapillary and parafoveal areas at baseline and during phase IV of the Valsalva maneuver (VM-IV). Systemic blood pressure and intraocular pressure were also measured. Results: The baseline PVD in the peripapillary area of the smokers was significantly lower than the non-smokers (59.56 ± 2.26% vs. 61.67 ± 3.58%, respectively; P = 0.005). However, there was no significant difference in the foveal avascular zone or parafoveal PVD between the two groups. During VM-IV, the peripapillary PVD of the smokers decreased by 1.13 ± 3.50%, which was significantly less than that of the non-smokers (−3.83 ± 4.26%, P < 0.05). Similarly, the parafoveal PVD of the smokers decreased by 5.49 ± 9.70%, which was significantly less than the percentage change of the non-smokers (−13.01 ± 8.39%, P < 0.05). There was no significant difference in the percentage change in systemic blood pressure parameters between the two groups. Conclusion: The retinal microvasculature and its reactivity were impaired in chronic smokers compared with non-smokers. The extent of impairment differed among different regions of the fundus.

Abstract
BACKGROUND To determine retinal vessel density in patients with myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody-associated disease (MOGAD). METHODS Twenty-five patients with MOGAD and 20 healthy participants were enrolled. Patients with MOGAD were divided into myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody (MOG-Ab)-positive eyes with a history of optic neuritis (ON; MOG-Ab-ON+ group) or without a history of ON (MOG-Ab-ON- group). Visual function, retinal vessel densities, and thickness were measured. RESULTS The retinal nerve fiber layer, parafoveal ganglion cell and inner plexiform layers, and vessel densities in the peripapillary and parafoveal areas were significantly decreased in the MOG-Ab-ON+ eyes compared with healthy eyes and MOG-Ab-ON- eyes (all P < 0.05). An increasing number of ON episodes was associated with greater decreases in these variables (all P < 0.05). Visual field mean deviation was not significantly decreased in patients with a history of 1 or 2 episodes of ON, although the relative decreases in retinal nerve fiber layer thickness, parafoveal ganglion cell and inner plexiform layer thickness, peripapillary vessel density, and parafoveal vessel density reached 33.1%, 23.2%, 17.0%, and 11.5% (all P < 0.05), respectively, in eyes with 2 episodes of ON. The mean deviation was significantly correlated with peripapillary vessel density (P < 0.05) after adjustment for other variables. Best-corrected visual acuity was not significantly correlated with optical coherence tomography variables (all P > 0.05). CONCLUSIONS MOG-Ab-associated ON was associated with significant decreases in retinal structure and vessel density, without significant deteriorations in visual function. The peripapillary vessel density might predict the visual outcomes in patients with MOG-Ab-associated ON.
