Abstract
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Type II focal cortical dysplasia is a common histopathological substrate in focal epilepsy. This study explored the spatial distribution of abnormal findings on MR imaging across the sulcus with type II focal cortical dysplasia using quantitative MR imaging postprocessing techniques. MATERIALS AND METHODS The morphometric analysis program and normalized FLAIR signal intensity analysis were applied to retrospectively analyze the MR imaging data of 58 patients with histopathologically confirmed type II focal cortical dysplasia. We divided the dysplastic sulcus into the bottom and nonbottom parts. Then spatial distribution types 1, 2, and 3 were arbitrarily defined as the abnormal findings on MR imaging (z-value > threshold) located in the bottom part, both the bottom and nonbottom parts, and the nonbottom part, respectively. For type 2, the mean z-values and standardized volumes of abnormal findings on MR imaging were compared between the bottom and nonbottom parts. RESULTS Abnormal findings on MR imaging were detected by quantitative techniques in 42 of 58 enrolled patients. Among these 42 patients, 38 and 26 patients showed gray-white matter junction blurring and cortical FLAIR hyperintensity, respectively, which were the 2 most common abnormal MR imaging features. Gray-white matter junction blurring manifested as types 1, 2, and 3 in 24, 13, and 1 patient, respectively, and the corresponding counts for cortical FLAIR hyperintensity were 12, 13, and 1 patient. For the 2 most common abnormal findings on MR imaging spatially manifested as type 2, higher mean z-values and larger corresponding standardized volumes of abnormalities were found in the bottom part. CONCLUSIONS Abnormal findings on MR imaging predominate in the bottom part of the sulcus with type II focal cortical dysplasia, which indicates that this malformation is bottom-of-sulcus-rooted.

Abstract
Cadmium (Cd) can be transferred and accumulated in spiders, posing a survival risk to them. To analyze potential biological damage caused by Cd accumulation and relevant detoxification strategies employed by spiders in response to Cd exposure, we conducted transcriptome analysis of the 5th instar spider P. pseudoannulata, a common spider species playing a vital role in natural pest control in agricultural fields of southern China. We obtained 92,778 unigenes with an average length of 1104 bp and identified 302, 655, and 424 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in the spiders fed with Cd-containing fruit flies for 2, 5, and 8 days, respectively. Results showed that the body mass of Cd-containing P. pseudoannulata were reduced when compared with controls, presumably due to delayed maturation of tissues and organs. Meanwhile, functional analysis of DEGs indicated that Cd may have a negative effect on neural signal transduction and molt cycle of the spider. For defense strategies, detoxification enzymes like glutathione S-transferase (GST), catalase (CAT), superoxide dismutase (SOD), and P450, and typical proteins like heat shock protein and metallothionein were all differentially expressed in response to Cd stress. Besides, innate immune responses like toll-like receptor signaling pathways were also upregulated. Multiple critical Cd-responsive genes involved in biological damage, detoxification, and immune response were identified, providing referable foundation for further research on Cd toxicity to P. pseudoannulata.

Abstract
Asymmetric nuclear collisions of p+Al, p+Au, d+Au, and ^{3}He+Au at sqrt[s_{NN}]=200 GeV provide an excellent laboratory for understanding particle production, as well as exploring interactions among these particles after their initial creation in the collision. We present measurements of charged hadron production dN_{ch}/dη in all such collision systems over a broad pseudorapidity range and as a function of collision multiplicity. A simple wounded quark model is remarkably successful at describing the full data set. We also measure the elliptic flow v_{2} over a similarly broad pseudorapidity range. These measurements provide key constraints on models of particle emission and their translation into flow.

Abstract
The visible light–driven ZnS–TiO2/RGO nanocomposites, with good visible light–driven photocatalytic activity, utilizing graphene oxide as precursor, were successfully synthesized via a facile solvothermal thermal method with graphene oxide as precursor. Ti4+ ions were derived from titanium dioxide powder (TiO2, P25) and tetrabutyl titanate. S2− ions and Zn2+ ions were provided by sodium sulfide and zinc acetate, respectively. The photocatalytic and absorbance activity of the nanocomposites was investigated through the photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue in aqueous solution. The results showed that the ZnS–TiO2/RGO nanocomposite prepared by tetrabutyl titanate exhibited better photocatalytic and adsorbance activity for methylene blue under visible light irradiation and its photocatalytic efficiency reached 90% in 60-min light irradiation, almost 1.5 times that of the synthesized ZnS–TiO2/RGO by P25, which was attributed to a cooperative reaction because of an increase of photo-absorption effect of graphene sheets and photocatalytic effect of ZnS nanoparticles. The adsorbance activity for ZnS–TiO2/RGO–tetrabutyl titanate) reached 48%, which was almost 1.7 times higher than that of ZnS–TiO2/RGO-P25 and almost 3.7 times higher than that of ZnS/RGO.

Abstract
Currently, immune checkpoint inhibitors have been shown to extend the survival of many cancer patients. However, few studies have focused on immune checkpoint inhibition for the treatment of patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). Here, by screening at an early stage, we obtained a strain of anti-PD-1 monoclonal antibody (mAb) that targets programmed cell death-1 (PD-1) does not contain the CH1 and CL fragment. In this study, the role of our novel mAb was tested in the treatment of OSCC in vitro and in vivo. We found that our novel mAb can significantly augment T cell mediated cytokine secretion, target cellular lytic and apoptotic abilities, and inhibit tumor growth and inflammation in vivo. The PD-L1 blockade was accompanied by the inhibition of AKT and ERK1/2, thus suggesting that the PD-L1/PD-1 signaling pathway may play an important immunopreventive role in the tumorigenic properties of OSCC cells by modulating the AKT and ERK1/2 pathways. Additionally, PD-L1 staining was observed both in human OSCC tissues and normal oral mucous tissue adjacent to the tumor, which occurred at different rates. Taken together, these results indicated that our novel anti-PD-1 mAb may be used as a clinical therapy in human OSCC development and progression.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the deviation of digital implant surgical guides during fabrication process in the Organical Dental Implant (ODI) system. METHODS This study included two parts. The first part was the in vitro study. A resin block with a diagnostic template was used for the planning. After cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) scanning, a surgical guide with eight implants was virtually designed using the ODI system. The guide was milled by a 5-axial numerical controlled milling machine, and an optical scanning was taken to digitalize the guide to a standard tessellation language (STL) form. The STL data were then imported into an ODI software and registered with the original design. The deviation of the sleeves between the design and the STL was measured in the ODI software and set as the golden standard. Then the ODI examination table was used to measure the deviation of the guide during fabrication. Examiners A and B measured 10 times separately. The reliability and the validity of the examination table was calculated. The second part was the in vivo study: The deviation during fabrication of 12 guides designed and fabricated by the ODI system were measured using the examination table. RESULTS The standard deviation of the deviation measured using the examination table by examiners A and B were all below 0.40 mm (for the shell reference points) and 0.71 degree (for the angles). No significant difference was found between the two examiners for any implant sites. The result of the examination table was larger than that of the software for the shell reference point (t-test, P<0.05), but no significant difference was found for the angle deviation (t-test, P>0.05). The 45 implants positions in the 12 guides for the in vivo study were examined using the examination table. The deviations at the shell reference points were (1.06±0.29) mm (0.42-1.75 mm), and at the implant tip were (1.12±0.48) mm (0.41-2.44 mm). The angle deviations were (1.42±0.70) degree (0.29-2.96 degree). CONCLUSION Deviation is unavoidable during the fabrication process of the guides. The examination table of the ODI system is a reliable and valid tool to measure the deviation during fabrication of the ODI guides. More studies should be designed to research the relationship between the fabrication deviation and the implant insertion deviation.

Abstract
Previous studies have suggested that ambient temperature is associated with the mortality and morbidity of myocardial infarction (MI) although consistency among these investigations is lacking. We performed a meta-analysis to investigate the relationship between ambient temperature and MI. The PubMed, Web of Science, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure databases were searched back to August 31, 2017. The pooled estimates for different temperature exposures were calculated using a random-effects model. The Cochran's Q test and coefficient of inconsistency (I2) were used to evaluate heterogeneity, and the Egger's test was used to assess publication bias. The exposure-response relationship of temperature-MI mortality or hospitalization was modeled using random-effects meta-regression. A total of 30 papers were included in the review, and 23 studies were included in the meta-analysis. The pooled estimates for the relationship between temperature and the relative risk of MI hospitalization was 1.016 (95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.004-1.028) for a 1 °C increase and 1.014 (95% CI: 1.004-1.024) for a 1 °C decrease. The pooled estimate of MI mortality was 1.639 (95% CI: 1.087-2.470) for a heat wave. The heterogeneity was significant for heat exposure, cold exposure, and heat wave exposure. The Egger's test revealed potential publication bias for cold exposure and heat exposure, whereas there was no publication bias for heat wave exposure. An increase in latitude was associated with a decreased risk of MI hospitalization due to cold exposure. The association of heat exposure and heat wave were immediate, and the association of cold exposure were delayed. Consequently, cold exposure, heat exposure, and exposure to heat waves were associated with an increased risk of MI. Further research studies are required to understand the relationship between temperature and MI in different climate areas and extreme weather conditions.

Abstract
Background: Total P16 methylation (P16M), including P16 hydroxymethylation (P16H) and true-P16M, correlates with malignant transformation of oral epithelial dysplasia (OED). Both true-P16M and P16H are early events in carcinogenesis. Aim: The aim of this study is to prospectively determine if discrimination of true-P16M from P16H similarly is necessary for prediction of cancer development from OEDs. Methods: Patients (n = 265) with mild or moderate OED were recruited into the double-blind 2-center cohort. Total-P16M and P16H were analyzed using the 115-bp MethyLight, TET-assistant bisulfite (TAB) methylation-specific PCR (MSP), and TAB-sequencing. Total-P16M-positive and P16H-negative samples were defined as true-P16M-positive. Progression of OEDs was monitored for a minimum 24 months follow-up period. Results: P16H was detected in 23 of 73 (31.5%) total-P16M-positive OEDs. Follow-up information was obtained from 247 patients with an ultimate compliance of 93.2%. OED-derived squamous cell carcinomas were observed in 13.0% (32/247) patients during the follow-up (median, 41.0 months). The cancer progression rate for total-P16M-positive patients was significantly increased when compared with total-P16M-negative patients (23.3% vs 8.6%; adjusted odds ratio = 2.67 [95% CI: 1.19-5.99]). However, the cancer progression rate was similar between P16H- and true-P16M-positive OEDs (26.1% [6/23] vs 22.0% [11/50]; odds ratio = 0.80 [95% CI: 0.22-2.92]). The progression-free survival was also similar for these patients. Conclusion: P16H and true-P16M are similar biomarkers for determining malignant potential of OEDs. Discrimination of P16H from true-P16M, at least in OED, may be not necessary in clinical applications.

Abstract
Cadmium (Cd) generates a variety of physiological and ecological toxicity to spiders. However, little is known about the effects of Cd on symbiotic bacteria of spiders. Metatranscriptomics is increasing our knowledge of microorganisms in environment. To better understand the impact of Cd on the symbiotic bacteria of spiders, we generated and compared the metatranscriptomes of the intestinal microorganisms of Pardosa pseudoannulata with and without Cd stress. The community structure of intestinal microorganisms in P. pseudoannulata was composed of 4 kingdoms, namely bacteria, viruses, eukaryotes and archaea, including 46 phyla, 97 classes, 184 orders, 339 families, 470 genera, and 598 species. The abundance of eukaryotes, bacteria and viruses was decreased by 0.14%, 1.22% and 2.52% respectively while the archaea was increased by 99.16% when under Cd stress. We identified 1519 differentially expressed genes (DEGs), including 770 up-regulated and 749 down-regulated genes. The results of KEGG annotation revealed that the expression of genes that are involved in the carbon metabolism, protein and amino acid metabolism and synthesis, glucose metabolism, oxidative phosphorylation, and glutathione metabolism were influenced by Cd. Collectively, these findings showed that Cd significantly impacted the community structure and expression of related functional genes of intestinal microorganisms in P. pseudoannulata.

Abstract
We investigated the vortex pinning behavior in the single crystal topological superconductor Cu0.10Bi2Se3 with a pronounced anisotropic peak effect. A weak collective pinning regime is clarified from the power-law behavior in [Formula: see text] and the small critical current density ratio of [Formula: see text] ~ 10-5 ([Formula: see text] is the critical current density, [Formula: see text] is the depairing current density). The spatial variation of the charge-carrier mean free path induced pinning is evidenced and probably results from the well-defined atomic defects. Within the framework of collective pinning theory, we computed the values of the correlated length and volume at 1.8 K, which start declining prior to the onset field of the peak effect [Formula: see text], demonstrating the vortex lattices already suffered a preferential collapse ahead of the peak effect turns up. Thus, the peak effect can be understood by elastic moduli softening near the upper critical field [Formula: see text]. We suggest Cu x Bi2Se3 is a prototype topological material for investigating the vortex pinning dynamics associated with the peak effect phenomenon.

Abstract
The alterations induced in gut microbiota by tacrolimus may affect immune function and organ transplantation. Mice were treated with high-dose tacrolimus for 14 days. The fecal microbiota were analyzed by pyrosequencing the 16S rRNA genes, and the effect on metabolism was predicted using the sequence data. The subgroups of T cells in the serum, gut-associated lymphoid tissue, and draining lymph nodes were determined by flow cytometry. Tacrolimus treatment significantly altered the relative abundance of Allobaculum, Bacteroides, and Lactobacillus and CD4+ CD25hi FoxP3+ regulatory T cells in the colonic mucosa and the circulation. These were significantly increased after either tacrolimus treatment or treatment by fecal microbiota transfer from tacrolimus-treated donors. Further, treatment with low-dose tacrolimus plus fecal microbiota transfer from high-dose tacrolimus-altered mice increased skin allograft survival rate in a skin transplantation model. Thus, high-dose tacrolimus alters the compositions and taxa of the gut microbiota. Administration of these conditioned gut microbiota plus low-dose tacrolimus resulted in regulation of colonic and systemic immune responses and an increased allograft survival rate. This study demonstrated a new strategy for controlling allograft rejection by combining an immunosuppressive agent with gut microbiome transplantation.

Abstract
AIM To investigate whether peer support would reduce diabetes distress and improve glycaemic control when added to usual diabetes education among adults with Type 2 diabetes in China. METHODS We conducted a cluster randomized trial involving 400 adults with Type 2 diabetes from eight communities in Nanjing. All participants received usual education for an average of 2 h each month from physicians, certified diabetes educators, dieticians, psychologists and podiatric nurses. Peer support was led by trained peer leaders and included diabetes knowledge- and skills-sharing at least once a month, as well as peer-to-peer communication. The primary outcome was diabetes distress measured using the Diabetes Distress Scale at 12 months. Secondary outcomes included fasting plasma glucose, 2-h postprandial glucose and HbA1c concentration. Outcome data were collected from all participants at baseline, 6 months and 12 months. RESULTS From 2012 to 2013, there were 200 participants in each study arm at baseline. Compared with the usual education arm, the peer support with usual education arm had greater reductions in regimen-related distress (1.4 ± 0.6 vs 1.2 ± 0.4; P=0.004) and total distress (1.3 ± 0.4 vs 1.2 ± 0.3; P=0.038) at 6 months. At 12 months, the scores for emotional burden (1.2 ± 0.3 vs 1.4 ± 0.6; P=0.002), physician-related distress (1.1 ± 0.3 vs 1.3 ± 0.4; P=0.001) and total scores (1.2 ± 0.3 vs 1.3 ± 0.4; P=0.002) were significantly lower in the peer support with usual education arm than in the usual education arm. Fasting plasma glucose levels were lower in the peer support with usual education arm than in the usual education arm at 6 months (7.5 ± 1.95 vs 8.0 ± 2.2; P=0.044) and 12 months (7.0 ± 2.3 vs 7.6 ± 1.5; P=0.008). CONCLUSIONS Beyond the benefits of usual education, peer support was effective in reducing diabetes distress for Type 2 diabetes mellitus. (Clinical Trials Registry no: NCT02119572).

Abstract
Objective: The aim of this study was to set up a large, longitudinal and prospective database to compare the clinical manifestations in human leucocyte antigen (HLA)-B(27) positive and negative patients with ankylosing spondylitis(AS) based on real-world evidence in Chinese population. Methods: A total of 897 outpatients with confirmed AS were recruited consecutively by smart management system for spondyloarthritis (SMSP) from April 13, 2016 to June 6, 2017 in Chinese PLA General Hospital from 30 provinces and autonomous regions. 801 patients with HLA-B(27) data were included in the analysis. Demographic and clinical parameters including Bath ankylosing spondylitis disease activity index (BASDAI), Bath ankylosing spondylitis functional index (BASFI), ankylosing spondylitis disease activity score (ASDAS), arthritis, enthesitis, Bath ankylosing spondylitis metrology index (BASMI), erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) and C-reactive protein (CRP) were compared between HLA-B(27) positive and negative groups. Results: A total of 801 patients were included in the analysis with an average age of (30.7±8.8) years. There were 659 males and 142 females and HLA-B(27) was present in 88.0%(705/801). Males were significantly more in HLA-B(27) positive patients [83.3%(587/705) vs. 75.0%(72/96); P=0.047].The average age at disease onset was (22.3±7.6)years in HLA-B(27) positive patients and (24.4±8.7) years in HLA-B(2)7 negative ones (P=0.028).There was significant difference in diagnose delay between two groups [14.3(2.5,43.6)months in HLA-B(27) positive patients vs. 20.3(5.0,67.4) months in HLA-B(27) negative ones, P=0.041]. Anterior uveitis was found to be significantly more common in HLA-B(27) positive patients [18.9% (133/705)vs.7.3%(7/96),P=0.005], and knee involvement less common in HLA-B(27) positive patients [4.0%(27/682) vs.10.0%(9/90), P=0.010], conversely. CRP[6.5(3.0, 16.4)mg/L vs. 3.5(1.6, 12.3)mg/L] and ESR[11.0(4.0, 24.0)mm/1h vs. 7.0(3.0, 16.0)mm/1h] were significantly higher in HLA-B(27) positive patients(P=0.005,0.013, respectively).But no differences in BASDAI,ASDAS,BASFI and BASMI were obtained between two groups. Conclusions: HLA-B(27) positive patients had a higher proportion of males, a younger age of onset and a greater risk for occurrence of anterior uveitis, suggesting a poorer prognosis.

Abstract
Endothelial cells (ECs) and macrophages engage in tight and specific interactions that play critical roles in cardiovascular homeostasis and the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis. Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are circular membrane fragments released from the endosomal compartment as exosomes or shed from the surfaces of the membranes of most cell types. Increasing evidence indicates that EVs play a pivotal role in cell-to-cell communication. However, the contribution of EVs, as determine by oxidized low-density lipoprotein (ox-LDL)-exposed and/or Kruppel-like factor 2 (KLF2)-transduced ECs in the interaction between vascular ECs and monocytes/macrophages, which is a key event in atherosclerotic plaque development, has remained elusive. This study demonstrates the characteristic impact of EVs from ox-LDL-treated and/or KLF2-transduced ECs on the monocyte/macrophage phenotype in vitro and in vivo.Q-PCR showed that both the atherosclerosis inducer ox-LDL and atheroprotective factor KLF2 regulated inflammation-associated microRNA-155 (miR-155) expression in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs). Moreover, coculture, immunofluorescence and flow cytometry revealed that miR-155 was enriched in ox-LDL-induced ECs-EVs and subsequently transferred to human monocytic THP1 cells, in which these vesicles enhance monocyte activation by shifting the monocytes/macrophages balance from anti-inflammatory M2 macrophages towards proinflammatory M1 macrophages; EVs from KLF2-expressing ECs suppressed monocyte activation by enhancing immunomodulatory responses and diminishing proinflammatory responses, which indicate the potent anti-inflammatory activities of these cells. Furthermore, oil red staining showed that atherosclerotic lesions were reduced in mice that received EVs from KLF2-transduced ECs with decreased proinflammatory M1 macrophages and increased anti-inflammatory M2 macrophages, and this effect is at least partly due to the decreased expression of inflammation-associated miR-155, confirming our in vitro findings. Abstract
Objective: To observe the correlation between Nε-carboxymethyl-Lysine (CML), the main component of advanced glycation end products and the calcification of the anterior tibial artery plaque in patients with diabetic foot post foot amputation. Methods: Sixty patients hospitalized for foot amputation operation due to diabetic foot from June 2012 to June 2016 in the Department of Orthopedics, Affiliated Hospital of Jiangsu University were prospectively recruited.The patients were categorized into mild stenosis (0<stenosis<50%, n=20), moderate stenosis (50%≤stenosis<70%, n=20) and severe stenosis (70%≤stenosis≤100%, n=20) based on the color Doppler ultrasound assessed severity of anterior tibial artery stenosis.The baseline clinical data of patients were collected and anterior tibial artery was isolated.Then, HE staining, O-Cresolphthalein Complexone method, enzymic method and ELASA analysis were then performed to detect the evolution of calcification, arterial calcium content, alkaline phosphatase activity and serum CML concentration, respectively. Results: The results from both color Doppler ultrasound scan before amputation and HE staining after amputation showed that echo intensity as well as spotty blue calcium particles of anterior tibial artery plaque increased significantly in proportion to degree of stenosis and destructed elastic plate of the arterial wall was evidenced in patients with severest stenosis.The content of calcium ((2.3±0.9), (3.9±1.3), (6.6±1.7) μmol/mg, respectively, P<0.001), ALP activity ((102.4±39.4), (202.3±73.4), (483.7±117.9) U/mg, respectively, P<0.001) and serum CML level ((28.9±4.4), (37.9±5.3), (57.3±7.1)μg/L, respectively, P<0.001) increased significantly in proportion to stenosis severity.Pearson correlation analysis showed that serum CML level was positively correlated with the content of calcium (r=0.749, P<0.001) and ALP activity (r=0.923, P<0.001), respectively. Conclusions: Serum CML level is positively correlated with the calcification of anterior tibial arterial plaque in patients with diabetic foot and could be used to evaluate the calcification of anterior tibial arterial plaque and stenosis degree of anterior tibial arterial in these patients.

Abstract
Abstract
Background: The randomized phase II SNAP trial assessed three alternative reduced maintenance chemotherapy regimens using nab-Paclitaxel after a short term induction phase at conventional doses as first line treatment in patients (pts) with metastatic breast cancer (MBC). For all three regimens median progression-free survival was greater than achieved with full dose docetaxel (historical reference). Symptom palliation and quality of life (QoL) are important when deciding on therapeutic agents and schedules in MBC pts.
Methods: Of the 258 pts with MBC enrolled from April 2013 to August 2015 in the SNAP trial, 255 were included in the QoL analysis. Pts were randomized to three arms, each receiving the same induction chemotherapy based on 3 cycles of nab-Paclitaxel 150 mg/m2 dd 1, 8, 15 Q28, which was reduced to 125 mg/m2 after a safety review. The schedules of nab-Paclitaxel in maintenance therapy differed in each arm: Arm A) 150 mg/m2 dd 1,15 Q28; Arm B) 100 mg/m2 dd 1,8,15 Q28; Arm C) 75 mg/m2 dd 1,8,15,22 Q28. Pts completed a QoL form to assess global and symptom-specific indicators (range 0-100) at baseline, and at day 1 of every cycle for the first 12 cycles on treatment, or until treatment discontinuation. Changes in QoL scores during induction (day 1 cycle 4 − baseline) and maintenance (day 1 cycle 12 – day 1 cycle 4) therapy were summarized descriptively per arm. Treatment effects on changes in QoL during maintenance therapy were analyzed by repeated measurement models including timepoints (from day 1 of cycle 4 to day 1 of cycle 12), induction start dose, age, and treatment arms as covariates.
Results: During induction therapy, mean changes [SD] in hair loss (Arm A:−70.2 [41.9]; Arm B: −77.3 [34.5]; Arm C: −72.6 [32.8]), sensory neuropathy (Arm A: −19.0 [25.2]; Arm B: −20.6 [22.7]; Arm C: −18.8 [23.8]), and treatment burden (Arm A: −12.9 [33.4]; Arm B: −13.4 [33.5]; Arm C: −11.4 [34.8]) showed the most pronounced worsening. During maintenance therapy, scores for sensory neuropathy remained impaired without worsening. No significant differences in changes for sensory neuropathy or the other symptoms were seen between arms, except for hair loss, with pts in arm C (mean difference 10.91; 95% CI [0.35, 21.48]; p=0.04) ] and B (mean difference 18.55; 95% CI [7.52, 29.59]; p=0.001) reporting a greater improvement compared to those in arm A. Pts in arm C reported a significantly greater improvement in mood compared to arm A (mean difference 13.34; 95% CI [6.08, 20.60]; p<0.001) and arm B (mean difference 9.62; 95% CI [2.84, 16.40]; p=0.01)].
Conclusion: The effectiveness of alternative maintenance chemotherapy schedules with reduced doses after a short term induction phase at conventional doses must be weighed against a substantial worsening in sensory neuropathy during induction therapy, and scores continuing to be impaired without worsening with prolonged administration. During maintenance therapy, improvements were seen in the perception of hair loss and in mood, particularly in Arm B and C, with a similar tendency seen for some other QoL domains. A more frequent administration of reduced dose chemotherapy agents is favorable with respect to QoL in this setting.

Abstract
Dielectric materials typically demonstrate poor thermal conductivity, which limits their application in emerging technologies in integrated circuits, computer chips, light-emitting diode lamps, and other electronic packaging areas. Using liquid metal microdroplets as inclusions to develop thermal interface materials has been shown to effectively improve thermal pathways, but this type of material may become electroconductive with the application of a concentrated compressive stress. In this study, an isotropic nano-liquid metal thermally-conductive and electrically-insulating material (nLM-THEM) is developed by combining a modified polymer and well-dispersed nanoparticles, achieving an ∼50× increase in thermal conductivity over the base polymer. In addition, the thermal conductivity of nLM-THEMs exhibits no significant change with varying humidity and a stable anti-corrosion effect even in direct contact with aluminum. More importantly, nLM-THEMs demonstrate a stable electrical insulating property upon compressive stress, while conventional micro-LM-THEMs exude liquid metal. This exceptional combination of thermal and electrical insulation properties is enabled by the interconnection of uniform and spherical liquid metal nanoparticles to create more thermally-conductive pathways, and surfactant modified nanoparticles ensure excellent electric insulation. Moreover, this material can achieve passive heat exchange through rapid heat dissipation, which demonstrates its great application potential in the electronic packaging area. Compared to liquid metal (LM) microdroplets based thermally conductive materials (micro-LM-THEMs), nano LM-THEMs (nLM-THEMs) presents a more stable electric insulating property even upon stress, achieving ~50-fold thermal conductivity over base polymer.![]()

Abstract
We report on design and technology improvements for a flowing liquid lithium (FLiLi) limiter inserted into auxiliary heated discharges in the experimental advanced superconducting tokamak device. In order to enhance Li coverage uniformity and erosion resistance, a new liquid Li distributor with homogenous channels was implemented. In addition, two independent electromagnetic pumps and a new horizontal capillary structure contributed to an improvement in the observed Li flow uniformity (from 30% in the previous FLiLi design to >80% in this FLiLi design). To improve limiter surface erosion resistance, hot isostatic press technology was applied, which improved the thermal contact between thin stainless steel protective layers covering the Cu heat sink. The thickness of the stainless steel layer was increased from 0.1 mm to 0.5 mm, which also helped macroscopic erosion resilience. Despite the high auxiliary heating power up to 4.5 MW, no Li bursts were recorded from FLiLi, underscoring the improved performance of this new design.

Abstract
AIM To examine the overall survival differences for the following neoadjuvant therapy modalities - no therapy, chemotherapy alone, radiation alone and chemoradiation - in a large cohort of patients with locally advanced rectal cancer. METHOD Adults with clinical Stage II and III rectal adenocarcinoma were selected from the National Cancer Database and grouped by type of neoadjuvant therapy received: no therapy, chemotherapy only, radiotherapy only or chemoradiation. Multivariable regression methods were used to compare adjusted differences in perioperative outcomes and overall survival. RESULTS Among 32 978 patients included, 9714 (29.5%) received no neoadjuvant therapy, 890 (2.7%) chemotherapy only, 1170 (3.5%) radiotherapy only and 21 204 (64.3%) chemoradiation. Compared with no therapy, chemotherapy or radiotherapy alone were not associated with any adjusted differences in surgical margin positivity, permanent colostomy rate or overall survival (all P > 0.05). With adjustment, neoadjuvant chemoradiation vs no therapy was associated with a lower likelihood of surgical margin positivity (OR 0.74, P < 0.001), decreased rate of permanent colostomy (OR 0.77, P < 0.001) and overall survival [hazard ratio (HR) 0.79, P < 0.001]. When compared with chemotherapy or radiotherapy alone, chemoradiation remained associated with improved overall survival (vs chemotherapy alone HR 0.83, P = 0.04; vs radiotherapy alone HR 0.83, P < 0.019). CONCLUSION Neoadjuvant chemoradiation, not chemotherapy or radiotherapy alone, is important for sphincter preservation, R0 resection and survival for patients with locally advanced rectal cancer. Despite this finding, one-third of patients in the United States with locally advanced rectal cancer fail to receive stage-appropriate chemoradiation.

Abstract
We report the first dijet transverse momentum asymmetry measurements from Au+Au and pp collisions at RHIC. The two highest-energy back-to-back jets reconstructed from fragments with transverse momenta above 2 GeV/c display a significantly higher momentum imbalance in heavy-ion collisions than in the pp reference. When reexamined with correlated soft particles included, we observe that these dijets then exhibit a unique new feature-momentum balance is restored to that observed in pp for a jet resolution parameter of R=0.4, while rebalancing is not attained with a smaller value of R=0.2.

Abstract
Non-atherosclerotic coronary artery diseases are being increasingly recognised as causes of acute coronary events. Invasive coronary angiography frequently fails to identify the abnormalities in the proximal course of coronary arteries and coronary wall, while computed tomography coronary angiography (CTCA) allows for acquisition of more detailed information. CTCA serves as a reliable method for evaluating patients with non-atherosclerotic coronary artery diseases. The purpose of this article is to provide an overview of non-atherosclerotic abnormalities that may be demonstrated on CTCA.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the effect of different mechanical loading on the expression of Notch-1, Notch-3, Jagged-1 and Delta-like-1 in growing rabbits' condylar cartilage. Methods: Sixty-four ten-days-old rabbits were randomly divided into experimental and control groups. The rabbits in the experimental groups were fed on a powder diet, while the control groups were fed on a solid diet. The animals were sacrificed after 2, 4, 6 and 8 weeks. Notch-1, Notch-3, Jagged-1 and Delta-like-1 gene and protein expressions were examined by HE, immunohistochemistry, Western blotting and quantitative real-time PCR. Results: At 2, 4, 6, 8 weeks, the anterior part of condylar cartilage in solid diet groups ([318.1±4.3], [342.4±2.6], [364.2±3.2], [380.7±6.0] mm, respectively) were thicker than those in powder diet groups ([275.4±2.6], [301.1±2.0], [322.3±3.3], [366.5±8.4] mm, respectively) (P<0.05). There was no significant difference between the two groups in the middle part (P>0.05). From 2 to 6 weeks, the posterior part of cartilage in solid diet groups ([444.1±1.5], [451.1±0.3], [476.4±5.7] mm, respectively) was thinner than those in power diet groups ([470.4±2.7], [494.3±2.9], [512.3±5.7] mm, respectively) (P<0.05). At 6 weeks, there were more mRNA expressions of Notch-3, Jagged-1 and Delta-like-1 in solid diet group than in power diet group (P<0.05). The Notch-1 protein could be found in all layers of condylar cartilage, especially in the surface of hypertrophic zone. The expressions of Notch-1, Notch-3, and Delta-like-1 protein were increased from 2 to 6 weeks, and decreased at 8 weeks. In solid diet groups, the protein expressions of Notch-1 (at 2, 4, 6, 8 weeks), Notch-3 (at 2, 4, 6 weeks), Jagged-1 (at 2, 4, 6 weeks) and Delta-like-1 (at 4, 6, 8 weeks) were greater than in power diet groups (P<0.05). Conclusions: Low masticatory loading may delay or inhibit the development of condylar cartilage and its growing factors such as Notch-1, Notch-3, Jagged-1 and Delta-like-1. Appropriate masticatory loading plays an important role in normal development of the condyle.

Abstract
Cyclooxygenase (COX)-2 is upregulated in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). However, the direct causative effect of COX-2 in spontaneous HCC formation remains unknown. We thus investigate the role and molecular pathogenesis of COX-2 in HCC by using liver-specific COX-2 transgenic (TG) mice. We found spontaneous HCC formation with elevated inflammatory infiltrates and neovessels in male TG mice (3/21, 14.3%), but not in any of male WT mice (0/19). Reduced representation bisulfite sequencing (RRBS) and gene expression microarrays were performed in the HCC tumor and non-HCC liver tissues to investigate the molecular mechanisms of COX-2-driven HCC. By RRBS, DNA promoter hypermethylation was identified in HCC from TG mice. Induction of promoter hypermethylation was associated with reduced tet methylcytosine dioxygenase 1 (TET1) expression by COX-2. TET1 could catalyze the conversion of 5-methylcytosine into 5-hydroxymethylcytosine (5hmC) and prevents DNA hypermethylation. In keeping with this, loss of 5hmC was demonstrated in COX-2-induced HCC. Consistently, COX-2 overexpression in human HCC cell lines could reduce both TET1 expression and 5hmc levels. Integrative analyses of DNA methylation and gene expression profiles further identified significantly downregulated genes including LTBP1, ADCY5 and PRKCZ by promoter methylation in COX-2-induced HCC. Reduced expression of LTBP1, ADCY5 and PRKCZ by promoter hypermethylation was further validated in human HCCs. Bio-functional investigation revealed that LTBP1 inhibited cell proliferation in HCC cell lines, suggesting its potential role as a tumor suppressor in HCC. Gene expression microarrays revealed that signaling cascades (AKT (protein kinase B), STK33 (Serine/Threonine kinase 33) and MTOR (mechanistic target of rapamycin) pathways) were enriched in COX-2-induced HCC. In conclusion, this study demonstrated for the first time that enhanced COX-2 expression in hepatocytes is sufficient to induce HCC through inducing promoter hypermethylation by reducing TET1, silencing tumor-suppressive genes and activating key oncogenic pathways. Inhibition of COX-2 represents a mechanism-based target for HCC prevention.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate whether hypoxia microenvironment induced hepatocellular carcinoma cells SMMC-7721 epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and to explore the underlying molecular mechanism. MATERIALS AND METHODS In this study, SMMC-7721 cells were cultured under normoxia and hypoxia conditions, respectively. RT-PCR and Western blot were used to monitor the expression level of EMT-related markers, E-cadherin, and vimentin, as well as hypoxia inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α) and Twist1. Then we performed the transwell invasion assays to detect the ability of cell invasion. RESULTS The results demonstrated that hypoxia micro-environment could induce hepatocellular carcinoma cells SMMC-7721 EMT and enhance the cell invasion ability. Furthermore, knockdown of Twist1 by using specific siRNA could reverse hypoxia-induced EMT process. CONCLUSIONS Hypoxia promotes hepatocellular carcinoma cells SMMC-7721 EMT by upregulating the expression of Twist1.
