Abstract
Using an e^{+}e^{-} collision data sample of 2.93 fb^{-1} collected at a center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV by the BESIII detector at BEPCII, we report the observation of D^{0}→a_{0}(980)^{-}e^{+}ν_{e} and evidence for D^{+}→a_{0}(980)^{0}e^{+}ν_{e} with significances of 6.4σ and 2.9σ, respectively. The absolute branching fractions are determined to be B(D^{0}→a_{0}(980)^{-}e^{+}ν_{e})×B(a_{0}(980)^{-}→ηπ^{-})=[1.33_{-0.29}^{+0.33}(stat)±0.09(syst)]×10^{-4} and B(D^{+}→a_{0}(980)^{0}e^{+}ν_{e})×B(a_{0}(980)^{0}→ηπ^{0})=[1.66_{-0.66}^{+0.81}(stat)±0.11(syst)]×10^{-4}. This is the first time the a_{0}(980) meson has been measured in a D^{0} semileptonic decay, which would open one more interesting page in the investigation of the nature of the puzzling a_{0}(980) states.

Abstract
Based on an e^{+}e^{-} collision data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 567 pb^{-1} taken at the center-of-mass energy of sqrt[s]=4.6 GeV with the BESIII detector, we measure the absolute branching fraction of the inclusive decay Λ_{c}^{+}→Λ+X to be B(Λ_{c}^{+}→Λ+X)=(38.2_{-2.2}^{+2.8}±0.9)% using the double-tag method, where X refers to any possible final state particles. In addition, we search for direct CP violation in the charge asymmetry of this inclusive decay for the first time, and obtain A_{CP}≡[B(Λ_{c}^{+}→Λ+X)-B(Λ[over ¯]_{c}^{-}→Λ[over ¯]+X)]/[B(Λ_{c}^{+}→Λ+X)+B(Λ[over ¯]_{c}^{-}→Λ[over ¯]+X)]=(2.1_{-6.6}^{+7.0}±1.6)%, a statistically limited result with no evidence of CP violation.

Abstract
Summary Cervical pharyngeal syndrome is characterized by the symptom such as sore throat, foreign body sensation or swallowing discomfort which caused by the pathological changes of cervical intervertebral disc and intervertebral structure nonspecific injury. Because of the lack of obvious specificity, it is easy to misdiagnose. Here, we reported a case of cervical pharyngeal syndrome. The symptom were obviously improved after conservative treatment, but the follow-up time is short, and further follow-up is needed. In the process of diagnosis and treatment, in order to reduce misdiagnosis and mistreatment, we should strengthen the understanding of the disease, broaden the clinical thinking, and understand the anatomical relationship between the pharynx and the surrounding organs.

Abstract
We report the first observation of a_{0}^{0}(980)-f_{0}(980) mixing in the decays of J/ψ→ϕf_{0}(980)→ϕa_{0}^{0}(980)→ϕηπ^{0} and χ_{c1}→a_{0}^{0}(980)π^{0}→f_{0}(980)π^{0}→π^{+}π^{-}π^{0}, using data samples of 1.31×10^{9} J/ψ events and 4.48×10^{8} ψ(3686) events accumulated with the BESIII detector. The signals of f_{0}(980)→a_{0}^{0}(980) and a_{0}^{0}(980)→f_{0}(980) mixing are observed at levels of statistical significance of 7.4σ and 5.5σ, respectively. The corresponding branching fractions and mixing intensities are measured and the constraint regions on the coupling constants, g_{a_{0}K^{+}K^{-}} and g_{f_{0}K^{+}K^{-}}, are estimated. The results improve the understanding of the nature of a_{0}^{0}(980) and f_{0}(980).

Pedicularis is the largest genus in the Orobanchaceae (>300) with many species co-occurring and co-blooming in subalpine to alpine meadows in the Himalayas. Although it is well known that different Pedicularis species place pollen on different parts of the same bumblebee's body, thus reducing interspecific pollen transfer, it is not known whether post-pollination components also contribute to reproductive isolation (RI). In this study, we quantified the individual strengths and absolute contributions of six pre- and post-pollination components of RI between three sympatric species in two pairs; Pedicularis gruina × Pedicularis tenuisecta (gru × ten) and Pedicularis comptoniifolia × Pedicularis tenuisecta (com × ten). All three Pedicularis species shared the same Bombus species. Individual foragers showed a high, but incomplete, floral constancy for each species. Therefore, pre-pollination barriers were potentially 'leaky' as Bombus species showed a low but consistent frequency of interspecific visitation. The RI strength of pre-pollination was lower in com × ten than in gru × ten. In contrast, post-pollination barriers completely blocked gene flow between both sets of species pairs. Two post-pollination recognition sites were identified. Late acting rejection of interspecific pollen tube growth occurred in com♀ × ten♂, while seeds produced in bi-directional crosses of gru × ten failed to germinate. We propose that, although floral isolation based on pollen placement on pollinators in the genus Pedicularis is crucial to avoid interspecific pollen transfer, the importance of this mode of interspecific isolation may be exaggerated. Post-pollination barriers may play even larger roles for currently established populations of co-blooming and sympatric species in this huge genus in the Himalayas.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the effect of high mechanical stretch stress(HMS)on human nucleus pulposus cells and its regulatory mechanism. Methods: The non-degenerated nucleus pulposus tissue (Pfirrmann<grade Ⅲ) removed from the patient's surgery was harvested and the human nucleus pulposus cells were isolated and cultured. In the presence or absence of pretreatment with the NF-κB specific blocker Bay11-7082, the cultured human nucleus pulposus cells were loaded cyclic mechanical stretch stress(CMS) with different parameters using the Flexercell system. The cell culture medium was collected and the secretion of inflammatory cytokines was detected by Elisa. The nucleus pulposus cells loaded with cyclic mechanical stretch stress(CMS) was collected, the changes of NF-κB/P65 signal pathway were detected, The mRNA and protein levels' expression changes were detected by RT-PCR and WB; after human nucleus pulposus cells were exposed to IL-1β, with or without Bay11-7082, the changes of P65 were detected by immunofluorescence. Results: Those mechanical stretch stress of high amplitude (9%, 19%), low frequency (0.01 Hz) and long duration (72 h) led to degeneration of human nucleus pulposus cells, while the mechanical stretch stress of low amplitude (3%), low frequency and long duration could not promote the degeneration process; the mechanical stretch stress of high amplitude(19%), low-frequency(0.01 Hz) could promote the release of inflammatory cytokines of human nucleus pulposus cells after 24 h duration; high-amplitude, low-frequency mechanical stretch stress could activate the NF-κB signaling pathway in human nucleus pulposus cells, Bay11-7082 could block the process; immunofluorescence showed that IL-1β could promote the phosphorylation of P65 in the cytoplasm of human nucleus pulposus cells and promote the entry of P65 into the cell nucleus process, Bay11-7082 could block those processes; Bay11-7082, the specific blocking agent of NF-κB signaling pathway, could block the degeneration process of human nucleus pulposus cells induced by high cyclic mechanical stretch stress(CMS) in a dose-dependent. Conclusions: High cyclic mechanical stretch stress promotes human nucleus pulposus cells degeneration through NF-κB signaling pathway.

Abstract
Using a low background data sample of 9.7×10^{5} J/ψ→γη^{'}, η^{'}→γπ^{+}π^{-} events, which are 2 orders of magnitude larger than those from the previous experiments, recorded with the BESIII detector at BEPCII, the decay dynamics of η^{'}→γπ^{+}π^{-} are studied with both model-dependent and model-independent approaches. The contributions of ω and the ρ(770)-ω interference are observed for the first time in the decays η^{'}→γπ^{+}π^{-} in both approaches. Additionally, a contribution from the box anomaly or the ρ(1450) resonance is required in the model-dependent approach, while the process specific part of the decay amplitude is determined in the model-independent approach.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the prevalence of physical activity and its influencing factors in rural residents in Shanxi and Chongqing. Methods: In four counties (districts) of Shanxi and Chongqing, local residents aged ≥18 who lived there for more than one year and had no plan to migrate to other areas in 2 years were surveyed through face to face questionnaire interviews to collect the information about their daily physical activity time, sedentary time, related knowledge and attitude, and others. Results: The physical inactivity rate of the residents was 14.9%, and 88.7% of residents never took daily physical activity. The average sedentary time was (3.91±2.06) hours. The results of multivariate analysis showed that education level, per capita monthly income and activity degree were the factors influencing physical inactivity. Conclusion: The proportion of people who never took daily physical activity in the survey area was higher than the average level in rural areas in China, so measures should be taken to improve the overall rate of physical activity. For people who have exercise willingness, but have no practice, and those who have already increased their physical activities, targeted guidance is needed on the basis of strengthened health education.

Abstract
Objective: To explore the associations between maternal and prenatal depressive symptoms and children's behavioral problems at 2 years old. Methods: In the present study, a total of 491 mother-child pairs were selected from the Shanghai-Minhang Birth Cohort Study (S-MBCS) which was conducted in Maternal and Child Health Hospital of Minhang District in Shanghai between April and December, 2012. Data from the Center for Epidemiologic Studies on Depression was gathered to assess the maternal depressive symptoms in the second and third trimester of pregnancy, as well as at 6 months and 12 months postpartum. Neurodevelopment at 2 years was assessed, using the Child Behavior Checklist. We used generalized linear models with a log-link function and a Binomial distribution to estimate the risk ratios (RRs) and 95%CIs, on children's behavioral problems at 2 years of age. Sensitivity analyses were performed among participants without postpartum depressive symptoms. Results: After adjustment on factors as maternal age, gestation week, average monthly income per person, parental education and children's gender etc., maternal depression in second trimester of pregnancy was found associated with higher risk of both developing emotional (RR=2.61, 95%CI: 1.36-4.99) and internalizing problems (RR=1.94, 95%CI: 1.22-3.08). However, maternal depression in third trimester was found to be associated with higher risks of developing emotional (RR=6.46, 95%CI: 3.09-13.53), withdrawn (RR=2.42, 95%CI: 1.16-5.02), aggressive (RR=2.93, 95%CI: 1.45-5.94), internalizing (RR=1.79, 95%CI: 1.01-3.16) or externalizing problems (RR=2.56, 95%CI:1.49-4.42). In sensitivity analysis, antenatal maternal depression was found positively associated with children's emotional, internalizing and externalizing problems and the differences all statistically significant. Conclusions: Maternal depression during pregnancy might increase the risks of children's behavioral problems. In order to decrease the incidence of children's behavioral problems and promoting both maternal and child health status, monitoring program regarding maternal mental health care should be strengthened.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the relationship between core members' social capital and performance among HIV/AIDS-related community-based organizations (CBO). Methods: From July to December in 2015, a total of 327 core members from 212 HIV/AIDS-related CBO in 8 provinces were recruited based on the prevalence of HIV/AIDS (e.g., Yunnan, Hunan, and Sichuan are in high epidemic level; Anhui, Hubei, Shandong, and Jilin are in middle epidemic level; and Gansu is in low epidemic level) by multistage stratified cluster sampling and convenient sampling method. A questionnaire was administered in this study, including general demographic information, core members' social capital, individual performance and organizational performance. Multivariate logistic regression model was used to analyze the relationship between core members' social capital and performance among CBO. Results: Among the 327 individuals, the proportion of male was 201(61.47%). The proportion of core members from grassroots CBO was 66.97% (219/327). Core members from non-grassroots organizations were more likely to publish articles, the OR (95%CI) was 2.58 (1.30-5.14); Social network had a positive impact on the AIDS experts, the OR (95%CI) was 2.41(1.47-3.95); Core members from registered CBO were more likely to secure funding for the organization, the OR (95%CI) was 3.42 (1.65-7.10); Social network and the core members from high endemic areas were significantly correlated with the number of HIV/AIDS patients, the OR (95%CI) were 2.79 (1.27-6.14) and 1.99 (1.21-3.27). Conclusions: We should use the core members' social network to establish relationship and communication with organizations and institutions, ultimately accelerating the growth of HIV/AIDS prevention and care.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Talaromyces marneffei is an opportunistic infection with high morbidity among human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)/AIDS patients in Southeast Asia and southern China. Its effects on mortality in HIV/AIDS patients has not been clearly elucidated. METHODS We conducted a retrospective cohort study of hospitalized HIV-infected individuals at the Fourth People's Hospital of Nanning, Guangxi, China during 2012-2015. Kaplan-Meier analyses were used to calculate the cumulative mortality. Cox proportional hazard models and 1:1 propensity score matching (PSM) were used to evaluate the effects of T. marneffei infection on mortality of HIV/AIDS patients. RESULTS In total, 6791 HIV/AIDS patients were included, 1093 of them (16.1%) with documented T. marneffei co-infection. The mortality of T. marneffei-infected patients (25.0 per 100 person-months, 95% CI 21.5-26.7) was the highest among all AIDS-associated complications and was significantly higher than that of T. marneffei-uninfected HIV/AIDS patients (13.8 per 100 person-months, 95% CI 12.5-15.1; adjusted hazard ratio (AHR) 1.80, 95% CI 1.48-2.16). The results using PSM were similar (AHR 4.52 95% CI 2.43-8.42). The mortality of T. marneffei-infected patients was also significantly higher than that of patients without any complications. When stratified by demographic characteristics, T. marneffei infection has higher mortality risk in all stratifications. Co-infection with T. marneffei carries a higher mortality risk in patients at any CD4+ T-cell count. CONCLUSIONS Talaromyces marneffei infection is commonly found in hospitalized HIV/AIDS patients in southern China and was associated with a higher mortality rate than most HIV-associated complications. These results highlight the need for improved diagnosis, treatment and prevention of infection by this neglected fungal pathogen in southern China.

Abstract
Objective: To explore the effect of anterior circulation transient ischemic attack (TIA) on early neurological deterioration (END) in patients with ipsilateral ischemic stroke and its mechanism. Methods: (1) One hundred and thirteen patients with ipsilateral ischemic stroke and 36 healthy volunteers (healthy control group) in Neurology Department of Tianjin Medical University General Hospital from November 2014 to July 2015 were recruited into this study. According to whether got TIA before ischemic stroke, patients were divided into simple ischemic stroke group (CI group, n=87) and TIA-CI group (n=26). Their END, NIHSS score, 3-month mRS score, infarct size, serum hs-CRP and other risk factors were compared. (2) The peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) were extracted from peripheral blood of TIA-CI group and CI group at 24 h, the 3 th day, the 7 th day and 12th day after ischemic stroke onset. At the same time, PBMCs of control group were collected. Western blot was carried out to evaluate the expression of nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB). Immunofluorescence was used to detect the cytoplasmic-to-nuclear shuttling of NF-κB. Results: (1) The incidence of END, NIHSS score at discharge, 3-month mRS score and serum hs-CRP level were significantly lower whereas the infarct size was significantly smaller of TIA-CI group than CI group (11.5% vs 31.0%, 1.9±2.3 vs 3.3±3.7, 0.9±0.8 vs 1.8±1.8, 1.1(0.3, 2.5) cm(3) vs 2.4(0.5, 22.8) cm(3,) (2.5±3.2) mg/L vs (6.2±3.2) mg/L, all P<0.05) . hs-CRP was positively correlated with END (r=0.311, P<0.05). (2) Expression of NF-κB: ① Compared with control group, the NF-κB expression increased first and then decreased in both of the two patient groups, and it decreased earlier in TIA-CI group than CI group.②In each time point, NF-κB expression of TIA-CI group was lower than CI group(t=1.754, P<0.05; t=1.858, P<0.05; t=0.609, P<0.05; t=0.519, P<0.05). (3) Activity of NF-κB: Most of NF-κB were inactivation and located in cytoplasm of control group. NF-κB of TIA-CI group and CI group was activated and translocated from cytoplasm into nuclear at the 24 h and 3 th day after ischemic stroke. At the 7 th day and 12th day, the accumulation of NF-κB in nuclear decreased and most of them located in cytoplasm in TIA-CI group, whereas most of NF-κB still located in nuclear in CI group. The activated station of NF-κB lasted shorter in TIA-CI group than CI group. Conclusions: TIA can reduce the incidence of END in patients of ipsilateral ischemic stroke. Its protective effect may relate with the inhibition of inflammation which induced by NF-κB.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Cognizance of common reasons for failure in primary and revision TKA, together with their time course, facilitates prevention. However, there have been few reports specifically comparing modes of failure for primary vs. revision TKA using a single prosthesis. The goal of the study was to compare the survival rates, modes of failure, and time periods associated with each mode of failure, of primary vs. revision TKA. HYPOTHESIS The survival rates, modes of failure, time period for each mode of failure, and risk factors would differ between primary and revision TKA. MATERIAL AND METHODS Data from a consecutive cohort comprising 1606 knees (1174 patients) of primary TKA patients, and 258 knees (224 patients) of revision TKA patients, in all of whom surgery involved a P.F.C® prosthesis (Depuy, Johnson & Johnson, Warsaw, IN), was retrospectively reviewed. The mean follow-up periods of primary and revision TKAs were 9.2 and 9.8 years, respectively. RESULTS The average 10- and 15-year survival rates for primary TKA were 96.7% (CI 95%,±0.7%) and 85.4% (CI 95%,±2.0%), and for revision TKA 91.4% (CI 95%,±2.5%) and 80.5% (CI 95%,±4.5%). Common modes of failure included polyethylene wear, loosening, and infection. The most common mode of failure was polyethylene wear in primary TKA, and infection in revision TKA. The mean periods (i.e., latencies) of polyethylene wear and loosening did not differ between primary and revision TKAs, but the mean period of infection was significantly longer for revision TKA (1.2 vs. 4.8 years, P=0.003). DISCUSSION Survival rates decreased with time, particularly more than 10 years post-surgery, for both primary and revision TKAs. Continuous efforts are required to prevent and detect the various modes of failure during long-term follow-up. Greater attention is necessary to detect late infection-induced failure following revision TKA. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE Case-control study, Level III.

Abstract
The cross section of the e^{+}e^{-}→Λ_{c}^{+}Λ[over ¯]_{c}^{-} process is measured with unprecedented precision using data collected with the BESIII detector at sqrt[s]=4574.5, 4580.0, 4590.0 and 4599.5 MeV. The nonzero cross section near the Λ_{c}^{+}Λ[over ¯]_{c}^{-} production threshold is cleared. At center-of-mass energies sqrt[s]=4574.5 and 4599.5 MeV, the higher statistics data enable us to measure the Λ_{c} polar angle distributions. From these, the Λ_{c} electric over magnetic form-factor ratios (|G_{E}/G_{M}|) are measured for the first time. They are found to be 1.14±0.14±0.07 and 1.23±0.05±0.03, respectively, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the effect and related mechanism of salvianolate on myocardial ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury in rats. Methods: Thirty-six adult Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into three groups (n=12 each) using random number table method: control group (coronary artery was not ligated) , I/R group (myocardial I/R model was established by ligation and opening of left anterior descending coronary artery) , and salvianolate+I/R group (5 mg/kg of salvianolate was injected through the tail vein at the time of reperfusion) .Triphenyltetrazolium chloride (TTC) stain was utilized to measure the myocardial infarct size. The ELISA method was used to detect myocardial necrotic markers, including cardiac troponin T (TnT) , creatine kinase-MB (CK-MB) and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) . Terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase dUTP nick end labeling (TUNEL) staining was used to analyses the levels of apoptosis. The levels of cleaved Caspase-3 protein were analyzed with Western blot.Cold luminescence method was used to detect the ATP level of myocardial tissue. The levels of 8-hydroxy-2'-deoxyguanosine (8-OHdG) in myocardial tissue were detected by immunofluorescence. Results: (1) The infarct size in control group, I/R group and salvianolate+I/R group were 0, (23.90±5.66) %, and (12.06±5.97) %, respectively (P<0.01 or 0.05) . (2) The TnT level was (0.04±0.03) , (16.96±2.80) , and (6.95±2.31) ng/ml, the CK-MB level was (43.6±23.5) , (1 135.8±180.6) ,and (390.3±121.5) U/L, the LDH level was (119.0±58.6) , (1 838.6±543.8) , and (631.6±228.3) U/L in control group, I/R group and salvianolate+I/R group, all significantly lower in salvianolate+I/R group than in I/R group (all P<0.01) . (3) The rate of TUNEL positive myocardial cells were (1.07±1.16) %, (21.36±4.11) %,and (13.30±3.67) % in control group, I/R group, and salvianolate+I/R group (all P<0.01) . (4) The cleaved Caspase-3 expression was 0.11±0.05, 0.84±0.20,and 0.43±0.09 in control group, I/R group, and salvianolate+I/R group (all P<0.01) . (5) The ATP level of myocardial tissue was (100.0±0.0) %, (34.2±9.2) %,and (62.1±18.0) % respectively in control group, I/R group, and salvianolate+I/R group (all P<0.01) . (6) There was almost no 8-OHdG expression in the myocardial tissue of control group. The expression of 8-OHdG in the myocardial tissue of I/R group was greater than that of the control group. The expression of 8-OHdG in the myocardial tissue of salvianolate+I/R group was less than that of the I/R group. Conclusion: Salvianolate may alleviate myocardial I/R injury of rat through reducing the mitochondrial DNA oxidative damage, protecting mitochondrial function and inhibiting the apoptosis of myocardial cells.

EUROPEAN REVIEW FOR MEDICAL AND PHARMACOLOGICAL SCIENCES 2018. Abstract
OBJECTIVE The ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme E2C (UBE2C) has been known as a crucial factor upregulated in various tumors. The functions of UBE2C is mainly involved in the pathway protein ubiquitination. This study investigates the expression of UBE2C in gastric cancers and its correlation with overall survival rate. MATERIALS AND METHODS Real-time PCR (RT-PCR) and Western blotting were performed to determine the expression of UBE2C in gastric cancer samples and adjacent normal tissues. Immunohistochemical staining was used to assess the expression of UBE2C in 216 paraffin-embedded gastric cancer tissues. RESULTS The mRNA and relevant protein levels of UBE2C in gastric cancer tissues are significantly greater than those in the adjacent normal tissues. Also, the expression of UBE2C is found to correlate with lymphatic metastasis, serosa invasion, TNM (Malignant Tumors) staging and Lauren's classification (p<0.05). The univariate analysis shows that the overexpression of UBE2C associates with poor prognosis (p=0.001). The multivariate analysis demonstrates that expression of UBE2C, lymphatic metastasis, and TNM staging are independent prognostic indicators. CONCLUSIONS This study shows that overexpression of UBE2C contributes to the development of gastric cancer, and UBE2C has the potential to be exploited as a therapeutic target.

Abstract
Abstract
Metastases are responsible for the vast majority of deaths due to breast cancer. Triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) is an aggressive subtype of breast cancer characterized by high rates of metastasis and poor prognosis. We are employing patient derived xenograft (PDX) models of TNBC to identify drivers of metastasis. Tumor samples are obtained from the breast tumors of patients with TNBC and engrafted immediately into the humanized mammary fat pads of immune compromised mice. Lentiviral transduction was employed to express bioluminescent and fluorescent markers in two independent PDX models of TNBC. Using these models, we demonstrated that human breast tumors are capable of completing all stages of the metastatic cascade in mice, and metastatic lesions are observed in organs normally found in patients with metastatic breast cancer including lung, liver, bone, brain, and lymph nodes. Dynamic and reversible epithelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT) was observed as tumors metastasized to lung and were re-passaged to recipient mouse mammary glands. Lung metastases were isolated using bioluminescence imaging and lung metastasis gene expression signatures were generated. Metastasis signatures from two independent PDX models were compared to identify genes that were commonly de-regulated in lung metastases relative to corresponding mammary tumors. Comprehensive gain-of-function screens were then conducted in vivo to identify functional drivers of TNBC metastasis. Carcinoembryonic antigen-related cell adhesion molecule 5 (CEACAM5) was identified as a metastatic driver in this screen. CEACAM5 mRNA and protein levels were elevated in lung metastases relative to corresponding mammary gland tumors in mice. In addition, we demonstrated that CEACAM5 expression was upregulated in the lung metastases of breast cancer patients, and its expression inversely correlated with patient survival. Our data indicate that the metastatic function of CEACAM5 is to promote growth of breast tumors in the lung by inducing MET (mesenchymal to epithelial transition).

Abstract
Abstract
Background
Kelch-like 6 (KLHL6) is a cancer oncogene previously associated with specific human cancers, such as chronic lymphocytic leukaemia. Here, the mechanisms of KLHL6 function were explored in gastric cancer (GC) cells, in an in vivo experimental tumour model, and the prognostic value of KLHL6 analysis in GC tissue evaluated in a cohort of patients with GC.
Methods
Associations between clinicopathological and survival data and KLHL6 expression in GC tissues were analysed. The effects of downregulation of KLHL6 in GC cells was investigated using proliferation, invasion, apoptosis and lymphangiogenesis assays, and analysis of tumour growth in an in vivo experimental model.
Results
KLHL6 was upregulated in 43 per cent of GC tissues compared with 5 per cent of paired non-tumour tissues from 84 patients. KLHL6 protein expression in GC tissues was much higher than that in atrophic gastritis, intestinal metaplasia and dysplasia tissues from benign gastric disease samples. KLHL6 expression was positively related to the intestinal Laurén classification in GC tissues. Downregulated expression of KLHL6 in MGC-803 GC cells reduced colony formation, proliferation, viability, migration and invasion, enhanced apoptosis and inhibited the cell cycle in the G1 phase. Downregulated expression of KLHL6 also suppressed tumour growth in mice. Furthermore, downregulated expression of KLHL6 mRNA reduced the expression of nuclear-associated antigen Ki-67, vascular endothelial growth factor C, hepatocyte growth factor and matrix metalloproteinase 2 in vitro, and KLHL6 protein in tumour tissue of mice.
Conclusion
Abnormal expression of the KLHL6 oncogene promoted GC progression in vitro and in vivo, and its expression level in tumour tissue was found to be of prognostic value.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the gene expression profiles of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNA)in human degenerated intervertebral disc degeneration (IDD). Methods: An lncRNA-mRNA microarray analysis of human nucleus pulposus (NP) was employed. Bioinformatics prediction was also applied to delineate the functional roles of the differentially expressed lncRNAs. Several lncRNAs and mRNAs were chosen for quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) validation. Results: A total of 1 570 lncRNAs expressed in degenerate group compared with the nondegenerate group. Of these, the expression level of 428 lncRNAs was upregulated >2-fold compared with nondegenerate group while that of 584 was downregulated. Bioinformatics analysis (GO and pathway analyses) revealed that some classical pathways participating in extracellular matrix (ECM) and cell apoptosis were aberrantly expressed in the intervertebral disc (P<0.05). Enhancer-like lncRNAs and their nearby coding genes were analyzed. Three lncRNAs were identified as potential enhancers. Several lncRNAs were validated in the intervertebral disc using RT-qPCR. Conclusion: The lncRNAs express differentially in the intervertebral disc. LncRNAs may therefore be novel candidate biomarkers and potential targets for intervertebral disc degeneration therapy in the future.

Abstract
PURPOSE Inguinal hernia repair is a common general surgery procedure with low morbidity. However, postoperative urinary retention (PUR) occurs in up to 22% of patients, resulting in further extraneous treatments. This single institution series investigates whether patient comorbidities, surgical approaches, and anesthesia methods are associated with developing PUR after inguinal hernia repairs. METHODS This is a single institution retrospective review of inguinal hernia from 2012 to 2015. PUR was defined as patients without a postoperative urinary catheter who subsequently required bladder decompression due to an inability to void. Univariate and multivariate logistic regressions were performed to quantify the associations between patient, surgical, and anesthetic factors with PUR. Stratification analysis was conducted at age of 50 years. RESULTS 445 patients were included (42.9% laparoscopic and 57.1% open). Overall rate of PUR was 11.2% (12% laparoscopic, 10.6% open, and p = 0.64). In univariate analysis, PUR was significantly associated with patient age >50 and history of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Risk stratification for age >50 revealed in this cohort a 2.49 times increased PUR risk with lack of intraoperative bladder decompression (p = 0.013). CONCLUSIONS At our institution, we found that patient age, history of BPH, and bilateral repair were associated with PUR after inguinal hernia repair. No association was found with PUR and laparoscopic vs open approach. Older males may be at higher risk without intraoperative bladder decompression, and therefore, catheter placement should be considered in this population, regardless of surgical approach.

Abstract
The spin and parity of the Z_{c}(3900)^{±} state are determined to be J^{P}=1^{+} with a statistical significance larger than 7σ over other quantum numbers in a partial wave analysis of the process e^{+}e^{-}→π^{+}π^{-}J/ψ. We use a data sample of 1.92 fb^{-1} accumulated at sqrt[s]=4.23 and 4.26 GeV with the BESIII experiment. When parametrizing the Z_{c}(3900)^{±} with a Flatté-like formula, we determine its pole mass M_{pole}=(3881.2±4.2_{stat}±52.7_{syst}) MeV/c^{2} and pole width Γ_{pole}=(51.8±4.6_{stat}±36.0_{syst}) MeV. We also measure cross sections for the process e^{+}e^{-}→Z_{c}(3900)^{+}π^{-}+c.c.→J/ψπ^{+}π^{-} and determine an upper limit at the 90% confidence level for the process e^{+}e^{-}→Z_{c}(4020)^{+}π^{-}+c.c.→J/ψπ^{+}π^{-}.

Abstract
We report unambiguous in situ observation of the coalescence of macroscopic flux ropes by the magnetospheric multiscale (MMS) mission. Two coalescing flux ropes with sizes of ∼1 R_{E} were identified at the subsolar magnetopause by the occurrence of an asymmetric quadrupolar signature in the normal component of the magnetic field measured by the MMS spacecraft. An electron diffusion region (EDR) with a width of four local electron inertial lengths was embedded within the merging current sheet. The EDR was characterized by an intense parallel electric field, significant energy dissipation, and suprathermal electrons. Although the electrons were organized by a large guide field, the small observed electron pressure nongyrotropy may be sufficient to support a significant fraction of the parallel electric field within the EDR. Since the flux ropes are observed in the exhaust region, we suggest that secondary EDRs are formed further downstream of the primary reconnection line between the magnetosheath and magnetospheric fields.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the possible mechanism related to the protective effects of salvianolate in H9c2 cells underwent hypoxia/reoxygenation (H/R)-injury. Methods: H9c2 cells were divided into four groups: control group, salvianolate group (S group), H/R group, and salvianolate+ H/R group(S+ H/R group), in which the H9c2 cells were pretreated with salvianolate before H/R-treatment.Apoptotic cells were detected by Tunel assays and AnnexinⅤ-FITC apoptosis detection kit.The intracellular ATP level, the change of mitochondrial membrane potential and the mitochondrial DNA oxidative damage were also determined in these groups. Results: (1) The apoptosis rate of H/R group(26.36±5.14)% was significantly higher compared to control group(2.71±1.66)%(P=0.000 4), which could be significantly reduced in S+ H/R group(17.28±4.75)%(P=0.012 8 vs. H/R group , P=0.003 9 vs. control group). The ratio of AnnexinⅤ and PI double positive cells in H/R group(28.23±6.73)% was significantly higher compared to control group(3.53±2.83)%(P=0.001 1), which was significantly reduced in S+ H/R group(18.10±4.56)%(P=0.037 2 vs. H/R group, P=0.038 3 vs. control group). (2)The ATP level of H9c2 cells in H/R group(49.05±10.12)% was significantly lower than in control group 100%(P=0.000 5), which was significantly increased in S+ H/R group(68.67±13.32)%(P=0.019 9 vs. H/R group). Confocal microscope showed that red fluorescence was dominant in the control group, red fluorescence was significantly reduced, while green fluorescence was significantly increased in H9c2 cells of H/R group and the fluorescence ratio of red to green in H/R group((37.13±8.47)%) was significantly decreased compared to control group (100%, P=0.000 1), fluorescence ratio of red to green was significantly increased in S+ H/R group((63.77±12.32)% vs. H/R group, P=0.007 3). (3)The mitochondrial DNA oxidative damage in different groups: there was only few 8-hydroxyguanine (8-OHdG) expression, which marked as green, in control group, and 8-OHdG expression was significantly upregulated in H/R group, moreover, the 8-OHdG was co-localized with mitochondria. The expression of 8-OHdG was significantly lower in S+ H/R group compared to H/R group. Conclusion: Salvianolate can reduce mitochondrial DNA oxidative damage, and protect mitochondrial function, thus inhibit myocardial cell apoptosis and eventually reduce the myocardial H/R-injury in H9c2 cells.

Abstract
AIM To elucidate the effects of rs2289669, an intron variant of the SLC47A1 gene, on glucose response to metformin in Chinese people with newly diagnosed Type 2 diabetes. METHODS Rs2289669 was genotyped, using Sequenom, in 291 participants receiving 48 weeks of metformin monotherapy. The changes in HbA1c were compared among rs2289669 genotypes, and associations with rs2289669 were evaluated using linear regression analysis. RESULTS We found that, compared with participants with a homozygous G allele, those carrying the minor A allele had significantly greater HbA1c reduction and greater increases in basal glucagon-like peptide-1 concentration. Regression analysis showed that there was a significant association between rs2289669 and the glucose response to metformin after adjusting for confounding factors, except for changes in basal glucagon-like peptide-1, for which an association was not observed. CONCLUSIONS Our findings suggest that rs2289669 might help predict the glycaemic response to metformin in Chinese people newly diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, and that differential increases in basal glucagon-like peptide-1 concentration among rs2289669 genotypes might be associated with inter-individual response to metformin.

Evolution of the Reactor Antineutrino Flux and Spectrum at Daya Bay. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2017; 118:251801. Abstract
The Daya Bay experiment has observed correlations between reactor core fuel evolution and changes in the reactor antineutrino flux and energy spectrum. Four antineutrino detectors in two experimental halls were used to identify 2.2 million inverse beta decays (IBDs) over 1230 days spanning multiple fuel cycles for each of six 2.9 GW_{th} reactor cores at the Daya Bay and Ling Ao nuclear power plants. Using detector data spanning effective ^{239}Pu fission fractions F_{239} from 0.25 to 0.35, Daya Bay measures an average IBD yield σ[over ¯]_{f} of (5.90±0.13)×10^{-43} cm^{2}/fission and a fuel-dependent variation in the IBD yield, dσ_{f}/dF_{239}, of (-1.86±0.18)×10^{-43} cm^{2}/fission. This observation rejects the hypothesis of a constant antineutrino flux as a function of the ^{239}Pu fission fraction at 10 standard deviations. The variation in IBD yield is found to be energy dependent, rejecting the hypothesis of a constant antineutrino energy spectrum at 5.1 standard deviations. While measurements of the evolution in the IBD spectrum show general agreement with predictions from recent reactor models, the measured evolution in total IBD yield disagrees with recent predictions at 3.1σ. This discrepancy indicates that an overall deficit in the measured flux with respect to predictions does not result from equal fractional deficits from the primary fission isotopes ^{235}U, ^{239}Pu, ^{238}U, and ^{241}Pu. Based on measured IBD yield variations, yields of (6.17±0.17) and (4.27±0.26)×10^{-43} cm^{2}/fission have been determined for the two dominant fission parent isotopes ^{235}U and ^{239}Pu. A 7.8% discrepancy between the observed and predicted ^{235}U yields suggests that this isotope may be the primary contributor to the reactor antineutrino anomaly.

Non-neutralizing epitopes induce robust hepatitis C virus (HCV)-specific antibody-dependent CD56 + natural killer cell responses in chronic HCV-infected patients. Clin Exp Immunol 2017; 189:92-102. Abstract
Natural killer (NK) cell-mediated antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (NK-ADCC) is of considerable interest in viral infection. However, little is known about NK-ADCC responses in chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. In this study, impaired non-specific antibody-dependent CD56+ NK cell responses were observed in chronic HCV infection, as shown by decreased degranulation (extracellular CD107a expression) and interferon (IFN)-γ production in response to antibody-bound P815 cells. A peptide pool composed of epitopes recognized by anti-HCV-E1/E2 antibodies could induce pronounced HCV-specific antibody-dependent NK cell responses in sera from approximately half the chronic HCV carriers. Additionally, HCV-specific epitopes with the capacity to induce robust NK-ADCC activity were identified. Five linear NK-ADCC epitopes (aa211-aa217, aa384-aa391, aa464-aa475, aa544-aa551 and aa648-aa659 of the HCV envelope) were identified and do not overlap with putative linear neutralizing epitopes. This study revealed the dysfunctional characteristics of antibody-dependent CD56+ NK cell responses in chronic HCV carriers. The key non-neutralizing NK-ADCC epitopes identified in this study may act as new targets for immunological intervention.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE This study was purposed to evaluate the clinical efficacy of the treatment for acute cerebral infarction by intra-arterial thrombolysis combined with mild hypothermia. PATIENTS AND METHODS Thirty patients, diagnosed with acute anterior circulation cerebral infarction and admitted to the Hospital between January 2013 and September 2015, were randomly divided into the control group and the mild hypothermia group, each group comprising 15 cases. The treatment of intra-arterial thrombolysis combined with mild hypothermia was administered to the mild hypothermia group, while only the treatment of intra-arterial thrombolysis was performed on the control group. The National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) score, Modified RANKIN Scale (MRS) score, cerebral hemorrhage transformation, pulmonary infection, and the incidence of gastrointestinal bleeding of the two groups were compared on day 14, 30, and 90 following the onset of the disease. RESULTS The prognosis (MRS score) of the group with mild hypothermia combined with intra-arterial thrombolysis was lower than that of the group treated only with intra-arterial thrombolysis (p < 0.05). The incidence of cerebral hemorrhage transformation of the group with mild hypothermia combined with intra-arterial thrombolysis was also lower than that of the control group (p < 0.05). There was no significant difference in the incidence of pulmonary infection and gastrointestinal bleeding between the two groups. CONCLUSIONS Treatment of patients suffering from acute cerebral infarction by means of intra-arterial thrombolysis in combination with mild hypothermia can result in reduced risk of hemorrhagic transformation and improve clinical outcome.

Abstract
Although some novel antimicrobial peptides (AMP) have been successfully isolated from Bactrocera dorsalis Hendel, the mechanisms underlying the induction of these peptides are still elusive. The homolog of NF-κB transcription factor Relish, designated as BdRelish, was cloned from B. dorsalis. The full length cDNA of BdRelish is 3954 bp with an open reading frame that encodes 1013 amino acids. Similar to Drosophila Relish and the mammalian p100, it is a compound protein containing a conserved Rel homology domain, an IPT (Ig-like, plexins, transcription factors) domain and an IκB-like domain (four ankyrin repeats), the nuclear localization signal RKRRR is also detected at the residues 449-453, suggesting that it has homology to Relish and it is a member of the Rel family of transcription activator proteins. Reverse transcription quantitative polymerase chain reaction analysis reveals that BdRelish mRNAs are detected in different quantities from various tissues and the highest transcription level of BdRelish is determined in fat body. The injection challenge of Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureas significantly upregulated the expression of BdRelish. The injection of BdRelish dsRNA markedly reduced the expression of BdRelish and decreased the transcription magnitude of antimicrobial peptides. Individuals injected BdRelish dsRNA died at a significantly faster rate compared with the control groups. Therefore, BdRelish is vital for the transcription of AMPs to attack the invading bacteria.
