Abstract
Nanotechnology could improve our understanding of the pathophysiology of atherosclerosis and contribute to the development of novel diagnostic and therapeutic strategies to further reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. Macrophages have key roles in atherosclerosis progression and, therefore, macrophage-associated pathological processes are important targets for both diagnostic imaging and novel therapies for atherosclerosis. In this Review, we highlight efforts in the past two decades to develop imaging techniques and to therapeutically manipulate macrophages in atherosclerotic plaques with the use of rationally designed nanoparticles. We review the latest progress in nanoparticle-based imaging modalities that can specifically target macrophages. Using novel molecular imaging technology, these modalities enable the identification of advanced atherosclerotic plaques and the assessment of the therapeutic efficacy of medical interventions. Additionally, we provide novel perspectives on how macrophage-targeting nanoparticles can deliver a broad range of therapeutic payloads to atherosclerotic lesions. These nanoparticles can suppress pro-atherogenic macrophage processes, leading to improved resolution of inflammation and stabilization of plaques. Finally, we propose future opportunities for novel diagnostic and therapeutic strategies and provide solutions to challenges in this area for the purpose of accelerating the clinical translation of nanomedicine for the treatment of atherosclerotic vascular disease.

Abstract
We report results from a search for neutrino-induced neutral current (NC) resonant Δ(1232) baryon production followed by Δ radiative decay, with a ⟨0.8⟩ GeV neutrino beam. Data corresponding to MicroBooNE's first three years of operations (6.80×10^{20} protons on target) are used to select single-photon events with one or zero protons and without charged leptons in the final state (1γ1p and 1γ0p, respectively). The background is constrained via an in situ high-purity measurement of NC π^{0} events, made possible via dedicated 2γ1p and 2γ0p selections. A total of 16 and 153 events are observed for the 1γ1p and 1γ0p selections, respectively, compared to a constrained background prediction of 20.5±3.65(syst) and 145.1±13.8(syst) events. The data lead to a bound on an anomalous enhancement of the normalization of NC Δ radiative decay of less than 2.3 times the predicted nominal rate for this process at the 90% confidence level (C.L.). The measurement disfavors a candidate photon interpretation of the MiniBooNE low-energy excess as a factor of 3.18 times the nominal NC Δ radiative decay rate at the 94.8% C.L., in favor of the nominal prediction, and represents a greater than 50-fold improvement over the world's best limit on single-photon production in NC interactions in the sub-GeV neutrino energy range.

Abstract
Immunotherapy with immune checkpoint blockade (ICB) has shown limited benefits in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and other cancers, mediated in part by the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment (TME). As p53 loss of function may play a role in immunosuppression, we herein examine the effects of restoring p53 expression on the immune TME and ICB efficacy. We develop and optimize a CXCR4-targeted mRNA nanoparticle platform to effectively induce p53 expression in HCC models. Using p53-null orthotopic and ectopic models of murine HCC, we find that combining CXCR4-targeted p53 mRNA nanoparticles with anti-PD-1 therapy effectively induces global reprogramming of cellular and molecular components of the immune TME. This effect results in improved anti-tumor effects compared to anti-PD-1 therapy or therapeutic p53 expression alone. Thus, our findings demonstrate the reversal of immunosuppression in HCC by a p53 mRNA nanomedicine when combined with ICB and support the implementation of this strategy for cancer treatment. The p53 tumor suppressor gene is frequently mutated in liver cancer. Here the authors show that restoration of p53 expression with a mRNA nanoparticle platform elicits anti-tumor immune responses and promotes response to immune checkpoint blockade in preclinical models of p53-null hepatocellular carcinoma.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate a preoperative multi-sequence MRI-based radiomic nomogram for prediction of platinum-based chemotherapy sensitivity in patients with epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC). Methods: The complete data of 114 patients with EOC confirmed by surgery and pathology in Nantong Tumor Hospital of Nantong University from January 2015 to May 2020 were retrospectively analyzed, with an average age of 32-76 (57±8) years. All patients underwent platinum-based chemotherapy after maximal cytoreductive surgery. According to whether relapse occurred within 6 months, those patients were divided into platinum-resistant disease (PR, n=39) group and platinum-sensitive disease group (PS, n=75).All patients underwent MRI examination before treatment, and the 3-dimensional solid component of the tumor area of interest (ROI) on T2-weighted image (T2WI), diffusion weighted imaging (DWI) and T1-weighted image-enhanced image (T1CE) were manually delineated using Itk-snap software. Then AK software was imported for radiomics features extracting. They were randomly divided into training group (n=80) and validation group (n=34) in a ratio of 7∶3 (stratified sampling method). Firstly, the radiomics features were initially screened by the method of maximum correlation and minimum redundancy (mRMR), and features with the greatest predictive power were retained. Then, the LASSO regression analysis was performed to select the best features and construct the radiomics model. Univariate analysis was used to screen out clinical relevant factors, which combined with radiomic score (Radscore) was applied to develop a radiomics nomogram by multivariable logistic regression. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve and decision curve analysis (DCA) were used to evaluate the predictive ability and clinical application value of radiomics model, clinical related factor model and radiomics nomogram. Results: Compared with the radiomics model (12 optimal radiomics features) and the clinical relevant factors model (residual disease, neutrophil count, carbohydrate antigen 199), the radiomics nomogram model demonstrated the best prediction performance: in the training groups, the AUC (Area Under the ROC Curve), accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity were 0.90 (95%CI:0.82-0.99), 90.0%, 89.0%, and 92.0%, respectively. In the validation groups, the AUC, accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity were 0.89 (95%CI:0.78-1.00), 85.0%, 87.0%, and 80.0%, respectively. DCA shows that the use of nomograms with a threshold in the range of 0.01 to 0.90 has a greater clinical application value in predicting the sensitivity of platinum chemotherapy in patients with EOC. Conclusion: The multi-sequence MRI-based radiomics nomogram has a high diagnostic value in predicting the sensitivity of platinum-based chemotherapy in patients with EOC.

Abstract
Current clinical applications of protein therapy are largely limited to systemically accessible targets in vascular or extracellular areas. Major obstacles to the widespread application of protein therapeutics in cancer treatment include low membrane permeability and endosomal entrapment. Herein, we report a multistage nanoparticle (NP) strategy for systemic and cytosolic protein delivery to tumor cells, by encapsulating a protein conjugate, tetra-guanidinium (TG)-modified saporin, into tumor microenvironment (TME) pH-responsive polymeric NPs. Upon reaching the tumor site after systemic circulation, the polymeric NPs respond rapidly to the acidic tumor microenvironment and release the TG-saporin conjugates, which penetrate the tumor tissue and enter into tumor cells via TG-mediated cytosolic transportation. The TG-saproin NPs showed potent inhibition of lung cancer cell growth in vitro and in vivo. We expect that this multistage NP delivery strategy with long blood circulation, deep tumor penetration, and efficient cytosolic transport may be applicable to various therapeutic proteins for effective cancer treatment.

Abstract
The outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic has aroused tremendous attention toward personal protective equipment (PPE) in both scientific research and industrial manufacture. Despite decades of development in PPE design and fabrication, there's still much room for further optimization, in terms, of both protection performance and wear comfort. Interdisciplinary efforts have been devoted to this research field in recent years. Significantly, the innovation of materials, which brings about improved performance and versatile new functions for PPEs, has been widely adopted in PPE design. In this minireview, recent progress in the development of novel materials and structural designs for PPE application are presented in detail with the introduction of various material-based strategies for different PPE types, as well as the examples, which apply auxiliary components into face masks to enrich the functionalities and improve the personal feelings in the pandemic period.

Abstract
RNA interference (RNAi) is a powerful approach in the treatment of various diseases including cancers. The clinical translation of small interfering RNA (siRNA)-based therapy requires safe and efficient delivery vehicles. Here, we report a siRNA nanogels (NG)-based delivery vehicle, which is driven directly by the intercalation between nucleic acid bis-intercalator and siRNA molecules. The intercalation-based siRNA NG exhibits good physiological stability and can enter cells efficiently via different endocytosis pathways. Furthermore, the siRNA NG can not only silence the target genes in vitro but also significantly inhibit the tumor growth in vivo. Therefore, this study provides an intercalation-based strategy for the development of a siRNA delivery platform for cancer therapy. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of the intercalation-driven siRNA NG.

Abstract
AIMS Recent evidence suggests that 'vulnerable plaques', which have received intense attention as underlying mechanism of acute coronary syndromes over the decades, actually rarely rupture and cause clinical events. Superficial plaque erosion has emerged as a growing cause of residual thrombotic complications of atherosclerosis in an era of increased preventive measures including lipid lowering, antihypertensive therapy, and smoking cessation. The mechanisms of plaque erosion remain poorly understood, and we currently lack validated effective diagnostics or therapeutics for superficial erosion. Eroded plaques have a rich extracellular matrix, an intact fibrous cap, sparse lipid, and few mononuclear cells, but do harbour neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs). We recently reported that NETs amplify and propagate the endothelial damage at the site of arterial lesions that recapitulate superficial erosion in mice. We showed that genetic loss of protein arginine deiminase (PAD)-4 function inhibited NETosis and preserved endothelial integrity. The current study used systemic administration of targeted nanoparticles to deliver an agent that limits NETs formation to probe mechanisms of and demonstrate a novel therapeutic approach to plaque erosion that limits endothelial damage. METHODS AND RESULTS We developed Collagen IV-targeted nanoparticles (Col IV NP) to deliver PAD4 inhibitors selectively to regions of endothelial cell sloughing and collagen IV-rich basement membrane exposure. We assessed the binding capability of the targeting ligand in vitro and evaluated Col IV NP targeting to areas of denuded endothelium in vivo in a mouse preparation that recapitulates features of superficial erosion. Delivery of the PAD4 inhibitor GSK484 reduced NET accumulation at sites of intimal injury and preserved endothelial continuity. CONCLUSIONS NPs directed to Col IV show selective uptake and delivery of their payload to experimentally eroded regions, illustrating their translational potential. Our results further support the role of PAD4 and NETs in superficial erosion.

Abstract
Background Deoxyuracil triphosphate nucleotide (dUTP) pyrophosphatase (dUTPase, DU) is an enzyme of caprine arthritis-encephalitis virus (CAEV) that minimizes incorporation of dUTP into the DNA. Caprine arthritis-encephalitis virus relies partly on its ability to escape from innate immunity to cause persistent infections. Interferon β (IFN-β) is an important marker for evaluating the innate immune system, and it has a broad spectrum of antiviral activity. Aims This study was conducted to investigate the details of the IFN-β response to CAEV infection. Methods The expression of IFN-β and the proliferation of Sendai virus (SeV) and vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV) were determined by real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR). The effect of DU on the IFN signaling pathway was evaluated using luciferase reporter assays. Results In our study, the expression of IFN-β was significantly inhibited and the proliferation of SeV and VSV was promoted in cells overexpressing CAEV-DU. DU affected interferon stimulated response element (ISRE) and IFN-β promoter activities induced by RIG-I/MDA5/MAVS/TBK1 pathway, while did not affect them induced by interferon regulatory factor 3 (IRF3-5D). Conclusion DU protein downregulated the production of IFN-β by inhibiting the activity of the signal transduction molecules upstream of IRF3, thereby, helping CAEV escape innate immunity. Findings of this work provide an evidence to understand the persistent infection and multiple system inflammation of CAEV.

Abstract
This study aimed to explore the effect of ultrasound-stimulated microbubbles (USMBs) on tumor radiosensitivity in esophageal carcinoma (EC). The human EC cell line KYSE-510 and human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) were exposed to radiation alone or in combination with USMBs. CCK-8, colony formation, and EdU assays were used to determine cell viability and proliferation. Cell apoptosis was assessed using flow cytometry. Cell migration and invasion were examined by wound healing and transwell assays. Western blotting showed that the protein levels were associated with apoptosis, epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), and angiogenesis. An endothelial tube-forming assay was used to detect the angiogenic activity of HUVECs. Xenograft experiments were used to examine the effect of USMBs on EC radiosensitivity in vivo. The expression of Ki-67 in tumors was detected using immunohistochemistry. USMBs enhanced the suppressive effect of radiation on proliferation, migration, invasion, and EMT, and promoted radiation-induced apoptosis in EC cells in vitro. Angiogenesis in EC was suppressed by radiation and further inhibited by the combination of radiation and USMBs. In vivo experiments revealed that USMBs increased the radiosensitivity of ECs to tumor growth. Collectively, USMBs enhanced the effects of radiotherapy in esophageal carcinoma.

Band-selective Holstein polaron in Luttinger liquid material A 0.3MoO 3 (A = K, Rb). Nat Commun 2021; 12:6183. Abstract
(Quasi-)one-dimensional systems exhibit various fascinating properties such as Luttinger liquid behavior, Peierls transition, novel topological phases, and the accommodation of unique quasiparticles (e.g., spinon, holon, and soliton, etc.). Here we study molybdenum blue bronze A0.3MoO3 (A = K, Rb), a canonical quasi-one-dimensional charge-density-wave material, using laser-based angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy. Our experiment suggests that the normal phase of A0.3MoO3 is a prototypical Luttinger liquid, from which the charge-density-wave emerges with decreasing temperature. Prominently, we observe strong renormalizations of band dispersions, which are recognized as the spectral function of Holstein polaron derived from band-selective electron-phonon coupling in the system. We argue that the strong electron-phonon coupling plays an important role in electronic properties and the charge-density-wave transition in blue bronzes. Our results not only reconcile the long-standing heavy debates on the electronic properties of blue bronzes but also provide a rare platform to study interesting excitations in Luttinger liquid materials.

Abstract
We present a search for the decays of a neutral scalar boson produced by kaons decaying at rest, in the context of the Higgs portal model, using the MicroBooNE detector. We analyze data triggered in time with the Fermilab NuMI neutrino beam spill, with an exposure of 1.93×10^{20} protons on target. We look for monoenergetic scalars that come from the direction of the NuMI hadron absorber, at a distance of 100 m from the detector, and decay to electron-positron pairs. We observe one candidate event, with a standard model background prediction of 1.9±0.8. We set an upper limit on the scalar-Higgs mixing angle of θ<(3.3-4.6)×10^{-4} at the 95% confidence level for scalar boson masses in the range (100-200) MeV/c^{2}. We exclude, at the 95% confidence level, the remaining model parameters required to explain the central value of a possible excess of K_{L}^{0}→π^{0}νν[over ¯] decays reported by the KOTO collaboration. We also provide a model-independent limit on a new boson X produced in K→πX decays and decaying to e^{+}e^{-}.
