Abstract
Objective: To study the correlation between patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus combined with nonalcoholic steatohepatitis in order to provide theoretical support for the treatment of NAFLD through aerobic exercise performance. Methods: 253 cases with T2DM combined with NAFLD were selected. 93 cases consented to undergo a liver biopsy. Among them, 74 cases with liver biopsy successfully passed the symptom-limited cardiopulmonary exercise test (CPET) and respiratory quotient (RQ)≥1.05. Patients were divided into two groups according to the NAFLD activity score (NAS) of the pathological biopsy: the non-NASH group (NAS < 4) and the NASH group (NAS≥4). The differences in general clinical and biochemical indicators and exercise parameters were compared between the two groups. The relevant factors that affect aerobic exercise performance in NAFLD patients were explored by correlation and regression analysis. Results: The peak oxygen uptake [VO2 @ peak, (17.82 ± 5.61) ml·kg(-1)·min(-1) and (23.14 ± 5.86) ml·kg(-1)·min(-1)] and anaerobic threshold [VO2 @ AT, (11.47 ± 3.12) ml·kg(-1)·min(-1) and (13.81 ± 3.53) ml·kg(-1)·min(-1)] were lower in the NASH group than those in the non-NASH group in T2DM patients, with P < 0.01, indicating a significant decrease in aerobic exercise performance in NASH patients compared to non-NASH patients. Correlation analysis showed that patients with T2DM combined with NAFLD VO2@peak was positively correlated with RQ, carbohydrate oxidation rate (%CHO), daily carbohydrate energy supply (CHO Kcal/d), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), and maximal voluntary ventilation (MVV) (r 0.360, 0.334, 0.341, 0.255, 0.294, P < 0.05 or P < 0.01, respectively) and negatively correlated with NAS score, fat attenuation, liver stiffness, fat oxidation rate (%FAT), daily fat energy supply (FAT Kcal/d), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), body mass, and body mass index (BMI) (r -0.558, -0.411, -0.437, -0.340, -0.270, -0.288, -0.331, -0.295, -0.469, P < 0.05 or P < 0.01, respectively). VO2@AT were positively correlated with RQ, %CHO, total cholesterol (TC), and HDL-C (r 0.351, 0.247, 0.303, 0.380, P < 0.05 or P < 0.01, respectively), while it was negatively correlated with NAS score, fat attenuation, liver stiffness, %FAT, FAT (Kcal/d), ferritin (Fer), ALT, AST, body weight, and BMI (r -0.330, -0.384, -0.428, -0.270, -0.318, 0.320, -0.404, -0.416, -0.389, -0.520, P < 0.05 or P < 0.01, respectively). Stepwise multiple regression analyses revealed that BMI, RQ, and NAS scores were independent correlated factors of aerobic exercise performance. Conclusion: Hepatic inflammation and fibrosis affect the aerobic exercise performance of patients with T2DM combined with NAFLD.

Observation of an Excess of Dicharmonium Events in the Four-Muon Final State with the ATLAS Detector. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2023; 131:151902. Abstract
A search is made for potential ccc[over ¯]c[over ¯] tetraquarks decaying into a pair of charmonium states in the four muon final state using proton-proton collision data at sqrt[s]=13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 140 fb^{-1} recorded by the ATLAS experiment at LHC. Two decay channels, J/ψ+J/ψ→4μ and J/ψ+ψ(2S)→4μ, are studied. Backgrounds are estimated based on a hybrid approach involving Monte Carlo simulations and data-driven methods. Statistically significant excesses with respect to backgrounds dominated by the single parton scattering are seen in the di-J/ψ channel consistent with a narrow resonance at 6.9 GeV and a broader structure at lower mass. A statistically significant excess is also seen in the J/ψ+ψ(2S) channel. The fitted masses and decay widths of the structures are reported.

Abstract
This Letter reports the observation of τ-lepton-pair production in ultraperipheral lead-lead collisions Pb+Pb→Pb(γγ→ττ)Pb and constraints on the τ-lepton anomalous magnetic moment a_{τ}. The dataset corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 1.44 nb^{-1} of LHC Pb+Pb collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02 TeV recorded by the ATLAS experiment in 2018. Selected events contain one muon from a τ-lepton decay, an electron or charged-particle track(s) from the other τ-lepton decay, little additional central-detector activity, and no forward neutrons. The γγ→ττ process is observed in Pb+Pb collisions with a significance exceeding 5 standard deviations and a signal strength of μ_{ττ}=1.03_{-0.05}^{+0.06} assuming the standard model value for a_{τ}. To measure a_{τ}, a template fit to the muon transverse-momentum distribution from τ-lepton candidates is performed, using a dimuon (γγ→μμ) control sample to constrain systematic uncertainties. The observed 95% confidence-level interval for a_{τ} is -0.057

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the long-term outcomes of corneal grafts after penetrating keratoplasty(PK) for congenital corneal opacity(CCO) in children aged 0 to 5 years and the related influencing factors. Methods: It was a retrospective series case study. Data of 39 children (55 eyes) who underwent PK surgery due to CCO in the keratology Department of Beijing Tongren Hospital from April 2014 to April 2018 and were followed up for more than 30 months were collected. Among them, there were 17 males (43.6%) and 22 females (56.4%). The age at operation was (16.2±13.3) months, and the follow-up time was (46.4±13.8) months. Clinical data such as basic information, preoperative diagnosis, operation age, operation method and postoperative complications were recorded. The corneal graft transparency was analyzed according to preoperative diagnosis, corneal neovascularization area, age at surgery, monocular or binocular surgery interval, primary surgery type and further surgery, and postoperative complications were observed. Results: At 12 months, 24 months and the last follow-up after PK, 78.2% (43/55), 70.9% (39/55) and 58.2% (32/55) of the affected eyes had clear corneal grafts, respectively. There was no statistical significance between Peters anomaly and sclerocornea (P>0.05), while the extent of neovascularization in the limbus had a significant effect on corneal graft transparency, and graft opacity was more likely to occur in patients with vessel area exceeding 2 quadrants (P<0.05).The highest corneal graft transparency was found in children aged 1 to 3 years 80.8%(21/26) (P<0.05), followed by children younger than 6 months (7/15).The translucency rate of the corneal graft was higher in patients undergoing unilateral surgery than in those undergoing bilateral surgery (P<0.05).Translucency of corneal graft was higher in children with simple surgery than with combined surgery (P<0.05), however, cataract surgery after PK had no significant effect on corneal graft transparency (P>0.05).The postoperative complications mainly included immune rejection in 19 eyes (34.5%), complicated cataract in 13 eyes (23.6%), glaucoma in 7 eyes (13.2%), persistent corneal epithelial defect in 7 eyes (13.2%). Conclusions: After PK in children with CCO, the transparent rate of corneal grafts decreases gradually with time, but the long-term translucency of corneal grafts can still be obtained. The range of corneal neovascularization, age at the time of surgery, whether the surgery was binocular and whether the surgery was combined had an effect on the transparency of corneal graft.

Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) Although definitive chemoradiotherapy (dCRT) is currently the most effective treatment for limited-stage small cell lung cancer (SCLC), some patients may develop severe radiation pneumonia (RP). We aimed to develop a nomogram by combining the clinical, radiomics and genomics factors to predict the RP. MATERIALS/METHODS Totally 148 limited-stage SCLC patients treated with dCRT were retrospectively enrolled and divided into the training (n = 103) and validation (n = 45) cohorts. All tumor tissue samples were detected by 474 Panel gene sequencing technology. Eight hundred fifty-one radiomics features of lung other than hilum, atelectasis and tumor were extracted from the initial CT images. Least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) method was applied to select and build radiomic signature. Combined with genomic, radiomic and clinical features, a nomogram was established by univariate and multivariate analysis. Concordance index (C-index), calibration curve and decision curve were used to evaluate the predictive ability and application value of the nomogram. RESULTS Six selected radiomic features was used to construct radiomic signature. Multivariate analysis showed that NQO1 gene (OR, 8.354; 95% CI, 1.061-65.765; P = 0.044), radiotherapy technique (OR, 9.586; 95% CI, 1.168-78.70; P = 0.035) and radiomic signature (OR, 5.745; 95% CI, 1.879-17.56; P = 0.002) were independent risk factors for RP. Compared with the single clinical (C-index = 0.621 and 0.533), radiomic (C-index = 0.696 and 0.550) or genetic (C-index = 0.561 and 0.433) factor, the C-index of nomogram was the highest, reaching 0.764 and 0.622 in the training group and validation group, respectively. The calibration curves indicated good agreement between the predictions and actual observations. Moreover, decision curves revealed that the nomogram had high clinical practicability. CONCLUSION This study further reveals the potential of radiomics and genomics in predicting the occurrence of RP, and may provide individualized prediction for patients with limited-stage SCLC, as well as theoretical and technical support for physicians to optimize clinical decisions.

Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) For locally advanced laryngeal cancer (LAL), the local recurrence rate remains 19-40% after radical surgery with postoperative radiotherapy alone or with concurrent chemoradiotherapy in patients with unfavorable prognostic factors. We evaluate local control and acute toxicity of intraoperative radiation therapy (IORT) as a tumor bed boost for locally advanced laryngeal cancer in this prospective phase 2 trial. MATERIALS/METHODS This phase II clinical study in which a total of 63 LAL patients (T2N1-3/T3N0-3/T4N0-3) were selected and received IORT (T2: 8-10Gy, T3,4:12-15 Gy) as a tumor bed boost during radical surgery, then received external-beam radiation therapy (EBRT) at a total dose of 54-60Gy within 6 weeks after surgery, 5 times per week, 1.8-2Gy per time, 30 times in total. The median follow-up time was 20 months (7 -39 months). The primary outcome was the local control (LC) and 2 - year survival rate determined using the Kaplan-Meier method. This study is registered with ClinicalTrials.gov, NCT04278638. RESULTS A total of 63 patients consented to participate in the study; 59 males and 4 females, median age was 61 years (40-81 years), 14 patients had supraglottic LAL, 44 patients had glottic LAL and 5 patients had subglottic LAL. 10 patients showed high differentiation and 44 patients showed moderate differentiation and 9 patients showed low differentiation with laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma. 3 patients were in T2N1-2 stage, 40 patients in T3N0-2 stage, and 20 patients in T4N0-2 stage, 48 patients received total laryngectomy and 15 patients received hemilaryngectomy; 16 patients were lymph node-positive and 1 patient developed vascular tumor thrombus after surgery. After surgery combined with IORT and EBRT, the 1- and 2- year LC rates were 98.2% and 93.1 %, respectively, 2-year overall survival rate was 97.4%. Pharyngeal fistula was observed in 1 patient (1. 6 %) and wound infection in 3 patients (4.8%). Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG) grade 3 pain and RTOG grade 4 dyspnea were noted in one patient (1.6%) and 2 patients (3.2 %), respectively. CONCLUSION In summary, our prospective phase II trial proved that the addition of intraoperative radiotherapy as a tumor bed boost to postoperative radiotherapy provided local therapeutic benefit to patients with locally advanced laryngeal cancer. Our data support the safety of this combined therapy. Additional investigation is warranted to determine the role of intraoperative radiotherapy in the local treatment of locally advanced laryngeal cancer.

Abstract
The electrochemical carbon dioxide reduction reaction (CO2 RR) to formate is of great interest in the field of electrochemical energy. Cu-based material is an appealing electrocatalyst for the CO2 RR. However, retaining Cu2+ under the high cathodic potential of CO2 RR remains a great challenge, leading to low electrocatalytic selectivity, activity, and stability. Herein, inspired by corrosion science, a sacrificial protection strategy to stabilize interfacial crystalline CuO through embedding of active amorphous SnO2 (c-CuO/a-SnO2 ) is reported, which greatly boosts the electrocatalytic sensitivity, activity, and stability for CO2 RR to formate. The as-made hybrid catalyst can achieve superior high selectivity for CO2 RR to formate with a remarkable Faradaic efficiency (FE) of 96.7%, and a superhigh current density of over 1 A cm-2 that far outperforms industrial benchmarks (FE > 90%, current density > 300 mA cm-2 ). In situ X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) and X-ray diffractionexperimental and theoretical calculation results reveal that the broadened s-orbital in interfacial a-SnO2 offers the lower orbital for extra electrons than Cu2+ , which can effectively retain nearby Cu2+ , and the high active interface significantly lowers the energy barrier of the limited step (* CO2 → * HCOO) and enhances the selectivity and activity for CO2 RR to formate.

Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) Definitive chemoradiotherapy (dCRT) is a standard treatment option for locally advanced stage inoperable esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). Evaluating clinical outcome prior to dCRT remains challenging. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the predictive power of contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CT)-based radiomics in combination with genomics for the treatment efficacy of ESCC patients after dCRT. MATERIALS/METHODS A total of 118 ESCC patients who received dCRT were enrolled in this retrospective study. These patients were randomly divided into the training group (N = 82) or the validation group (N = 36). Radiomic features were derived from the region of primary tumor on pretreatment CT images, also known as the region of interest (ROI), and clinical features were generated from medical records. The least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) regression was conducted to select optimal radiomic features, and Rad-score was calculated to predict progression-free survival (PFS) in the training group. Genomic DNA was extracted from formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded pre-treatment biopsy tissue. The univariate and multivariate COX analyses were undertaken to determine the predictors for developing models. The area under receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) and the C-index were used to evaluate the predicting performance and the discriminating ability of prediction models, respectively. RESULTS A total of 851 radiomic features were extracted from each CT image. The final Rad-score were constructed from 6 radiomic features to predict PFS. Multivariate analysis demonstrated that Rad-score and HRR pathway alterations were independent prognostic factors correlated with PFS. The C-index of integration model in combination with radiomics and genomics was better than that of radiomics or genomics model in the training group (0.616 vs 0.587 or 0.557) and the validation group (0.649 vs 0.625 or 0.586). Kaplan-Meier survival analysis also showed significant differences between different risk subgroups in the training and validation groups. CONCLUSION The Rad-score based on pre-treatment CT and HRR pathway alterations could predict PFS for patients with ESCC after dCRT, with better predictive efficacy of combined radiomics and genomics models.

Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) Over 70% of NPC patients were local advanced NPC (LANPC). The 5-year local recurrence-free survival rate is only 70% in T3-4 patients. Neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) followed with concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT) was recommended for LANPC patients. Low-dose fractionated radiotherapy (LDFRT), which is <100cGy, induces enhanced cell killing by the hyper-radiation sensitivity phenomenon and potentiates effects of chemotherapy. The synergy of LDFRT and NACT has not been used in the clinical practice and few studies focused on it. A single arm study found the ORR of primary site was improved to 90% for head and neck squamous carcinoma patients treated with LDFRT and NACT. Our previous study found the ORR of lymph nodes was higher in LDFRT group for high-risk LANPC patients. However, another study showed there was no significant difference between LDFRT and control group for LANPC patients. So, we aimed to investigate the potential efficacy of this novel neoadjuvant therapy for T3-4 NPC patients. MATERIALS/METHODS A total of 60 pathological confirmed T3-4 (UICC/AJCC8th) NPC patients were prospectively enrolled in our study. They were randomly assigned to two groups. For the LDFRT group, the patients received 3 cycles of NACT (docetaxel 75mg/m2 D1, cisplatin 80mg/m2 D1) with LDFRT, and followed with CCRT. LDFRT was delivered as 50cGy per fraction twice a day to primary site on D1,2 for each cycle of NACT. The patients in the control group only received NACT and followed with CCRT. All the patients underwent IGRT. RECIST criteria and CTCAE 5.0 was used to evaluate the ORR and toxicity at post-NACT and the completion of CCRT. RESULTS From February 2022 to December 2022, 60 T3-4 NPC patients were included, and 30 patients for each group. For the primary site, the median volume reduction rate and the ORR after NACT was significantly improved in LDFRT group (69.27% vs 40.10%, p<0.001;93.33% vs 73.33%, p = 0.038). For the median volume reduction rate of primary site and lymph node, it was also obviously improved in LDFRT group (86.59% vs 55.43%, p<0.001). Though there was a tendency of ORR improvement in LDFRT group, but no significant difference (96.67% vs 83.33%, p = 0.195). After the completion of CCRT, the median volume reduction rate of primary site had an increased tendency in LDFRT group (96.16% vs 88.3%, p = 0.065), but the ORR had no statistical significance (LDFRT group: CR 45.8%, PR 54.2%; control group: CR 37.5%, PR 62.5%). For the toxicity, the incidence of grade 3-4 adverse events had no difference between two groups (p = 0.786). No grade 5 adverse events occurred. CONCLUSION LDFRT combined with NACT could obviously improve the median volume reduction rate and ORR of primary tumor for T3-4 NPC patients, and the toxicity was similar and tolerable. This novel treatment could be a promising strategy to improve treatment response and needed to be confirmed further.

Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) A total of 6% - 8% of NPC patients were initial diagnosed as distant metastatic disease. The median overall survival (OS) is only 10-15 months with palliative chemotherapy for these patients. A phase III study showed that palliative chemotherapy combined with radical radiotherapy to primary site could be a newly effective treatment method for metastatic NPC. Another phase 2, RCT found that the patients who had the solid tumors with 1-5 metastases received standard palliative care plus stereotactic body radiation therapy (SABR), and the 5-year OS were improved to 42.3%. Nevertheless, there was few studies focus on the radiation to both primary site and metastatic lesions. Therefore, we aimed to investigate the potential clinical benefits for initial diagnosed metastatic NPC patients with radiation to both primary site and distant metastatic lesions plus palliative chemotherapy. MATERIALS/METHODS Metastatic NPC patients treated with radiation to both primary site and distant metastatic lesions plus palliative chemotherapy were retrospectively collected in our hospital from May 2008 to May 2022. For treatment group, all patients underwent IGRT according to ICRU reports 50 and 62. The prescribed dose for primary site: GTVT: ≥66Gy, GTVn: ≥66Gy, CTV1: 60-66Gy, CTV2 54-60Gy, CTVln 50-54Gy. And the prescribed dose for distant metastatic lesions was more than 30Gy. For the control group, the patients treated with palliative chemotherapy were selected by propensity score matching from our hospital. The regimen for palliative chemotherapy was cisplatin-based chemotherapy every three weeks (100mg/m2 D1) for both groups. Kaplan-Meier method was used to analyze the OS. Cox regression model was used for multivariate analysis. RESULTS A total of 54 metastatic NPC patients with radiation to both primary site and distant metastatic lesions were retrospectively included in the treatment group, and another 54 patients were selected as the control group. The median follow-up time was 52 months. In the treatment group, the median age was 52 years (37-82), male (68%), female (32%), the main metastatic sites were bone (36 cases, 66%), lung (18 cases, 33%) and liver (10 cases, 18%). There were 23 oligometastasis cases and 31 cases. 3-year and 5-year OS in the treatment group were both dramatically improved than control group (63.2% vs 50.6%, p<0.05; 49.6% vs 38.9%, p<0.05). Multivariate analysis showed that T stage, liver metastatic lesion and oligometastases were the independent prognostic factors for them. CONCLUSION Palliative chemotherapy combined with radiation to primary sites and distant metastatic lesions might improve the OS for initial diagnosed distant metastatic NPC patients. More prospective clinical trials were needed to confirm it further.

Abstract
Fungi have essential functions in plant health and performance. However, the plant-associated functions of many cultured fungi have not been established in detail. Here, the fungal species diversity in Salvia miltiorrhiza roots and rhizosphere was assessed for the first time using culturomics and high-throughput sequencing. We present a comprehensive functional metagenomic analysis of these fungi and verified activity of cellulase and chitinase predicted in the metagenomic analysis. We first collected and cultured fungi from the root and rhizosphere of S. miltiorrhiza. We found 92 species across 37 families and five phyla, with Ascomycota being dominant. Many rDNA internal transcribed spacer sequences could not be assigned to lower taxonomic levels. There were 19 genera of endophytic fungi and 37 genera of rhizosphere fungi. The culturomics approach had lower taxonomic diversity than high-throughput sequencing, but some fungi were only found in cultures. Structural analyses indicated that the dominant species differed in cultured and non-cultured samples at other levels, apart from the phylum level. Functional analysis mapped 223 carbohydrate enzyme families and 393 pathways in the CAZy and KEGG databases, respectively. The most abundant families were glycoside hydrolases and those involved in carbohydrate metabolism. As predicted by metagenomics, we experimentally verified cellulase and chitinase activity for 29 and 74 fungi, respectively. We provide the first evidence of biomass recycling by fungi that are associated with plants. Culturing is essential to reveal the hidden microbial community and critical functions in plant-microbe interactions.

Abstract
AIM To evaluate the diagnostic value and safety of ultrasound-guided core-needle biopsy for peripheral pulmonary lesions (PPLs). MATERIALS AND METHODS PubMed, EMBASE, and the Cochrane Library for relevant were searched for studies published up to June 2022. The diagnostic accuracy of US-guided percutaneous transthoracic needle biopsy (PTNB) for the diagnosis of PPLs was evaluated using pooled sensitivity, specificity, diagnostic odds ratio (DOR), positive and negative likelihood ratios (PLR and NLR), and the area under the summary receiver operating characteristic curves value (SROC). RESULTS The search included 12 original studies (3,830 procedures). For US-guided PTNB, the pooled sensitivity and specificity for the diagnosis of PPLs were 0.93 (95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.91-0.94) and 0.99 (95% CI: 0.96-1.00), respectively. The pooled estimates of the PLR, NLR, and DOR were 134.88 (95% CI: 24.88-731.74), 0.07 (95% CI: 0.06-0.09), and 1,814.95 (95% CI: 333.62-9,873.76), respectively. The area under the SROC curve was 0.95 (95% CI: 0.93-0.97). The overall complication rate was 3.6% (136 of 3,830), including self-limited haemoptysis and asymptomatic pneumothorax, and only six cases of pneumothorax requiring chest tube drainage and one case of severe bleeding were reported. CONCLUSIONS US-guided core-needle biopsy is an excellent diagnostic tool for PPLs, with high accuracy and excellent technical performance and safety.

Abstract
1. A new assessment method for duck footpad dermatitis (FPD) evaluation was developed, combining visual and histological characters using the images and sections of 400 ducks' feet at 340 d of age. All ducks were graded as G0 (healthy), G1 (mild), G2 (moderate) and G3 (severe) according to the degree of FPD.2. To reveal the potential biomarkers in serum related to duck FPD, non-targeted metabolomics and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) enrichment analysis were used to explore differential metabolites in each group.3. There were 57, 91 and 210 annotated differential metabolites in groups G1, G2 and G3 compared with G0, which meant that the severity of FPD increased in line with the number of metabolites. Four metabolites, L-phenylalanine, L-arginine, L-leucine and L-lysine, were considered potential biomarkers related to FPD.4. KEGG enrichment analysis showed that the FPD was mainly involved in glycolysis, the tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle, the pentose phosphate pathway and amino acid metabolism. These are related to production metabolism and can affect the physiological activities of ducks, which might explain the decrease in production performance.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Patients with pancreatic cancer have a high risk of thromboembolism (TE), which may increase mortality. Most relevant studies have been conducted in Western populations. We investigated risk factors for TE in a predominantly Chinese population of patients with pancreatic cancer, along with effects of TE on overall survival. METHODS This retrospective cohort study included patients diagnosed with exocrine pancreatic cancer in Prince of Wales Hospital in Hong Kong between 2010 and 2015. Data regarding patient demographics, World Health Organization performance status, stage, treatment, TE-related information, and time of death (if applicable) were retrieved from electronic medical records. Univariate and multivariable logistic regression analyses were performed to identify risk factors for TE. Survival analyses were performed using Kaplan-Meier analysis and Cox proportional hazards regression. RESULTS In total, 365 patients were included in the study. The overall incidence of TE (14.8%) was lower than in Western populations. In univariate logistic regression analysis, stage IV disease and non-head pancreatic cancer were significantly associated with TE (both P=0.01). Multivariable logistic regression analysis showed that stage IV disease was a significant risk factor (odds ratio=1.08, 95% confidence interval [CI]=1.00-1.17; P=0.046). Median overall survival did not significantly differ between patients with and without TE (4.88 months vs 7.80 months, hazard ratio=1.08, 95% CI=0.80-1.49; P=0.58) and between patients with TE who received anticoagulation treatment or not (5.63 months vs 4.77 months, hazard ratio=0.72, 95% CI=0.40-1.29; P=0.27). CONCLUSION The incidence of TE was low in our Chinese cohort. Stage IV disease increased the risk of TE. Overall survival was not affected by TE or its treatment.

Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) In this study, we aimed to explore the changes of functional phenotype before and after radiotherapy through vitro and vivo experiments. The potential pathway was preliminarily clarified. MATERIALS/METHODS Firstly, the relationships between the prognosis and the expression of CDK4 protein in SCLC patients treated with definitive chemoradiotherapy were explored. Then the stable overexpressed/knockdown CDK4 and negative control transfecting SCLC cell lines were established to monitor the changes of cell proliferation, migration, invasion, apoptosis and cell cycle after increasing radiation doses according to a cell counting kit assay, transwell cell migration and invasion assay, apoptosis cell cycle assay and BALB/c mouse model of subcutaneously transplanted tumor. The potential signal pathways were confirmed via KEGG pathway enrichment analysis and western blot. RESULTS Compared with patients with lower CDK4 protein expression, prognosis of those with high CDK4 protein expression was decreased significantly (p < 0.05). The cell activity, migration and invasion ability of overexpression/knockdown CDK4 and negative control group were all decreased with increasing radiation doses, but the activity, migration and invasion ability of cells with overexpression CDK4 was stronger after same dose X-ray irradiation (p<0.01). For group with knockdown CDK4, it showed lower cell activity, migration and invasion than negative control group. After X-ray irradiation, the apoptotic ratio of all groups increased. And cells with overexpressed CDK4 displayed significantly reduced apoptosis, less G0/G1 phase cells, and improved M phase cells than the control group. In addition, compared with negative control group, gross tumor volume of overexpression CDK4 group decreased much smaller after X-ray irradiation. H1339 cells with overexpression CDK4 and negative control group were sequenced by transcriptomic sequencing before and after radiotherapy. Taken together, differential genes were consistently enriched in MAPK pathway. Western blot showed that, compared with the negative control group, overexpression CDK4 group of H1339 and SW1271 cells after radiotherapy all showed significant changes on pERK proteins in the ERK pathway increased significantly (P<0.001). CONCLUSION In this study, the overexpression/knockdown CDK4 and negative control group were successfully constructed in H1339 and SW1271 cells, revealing the radiotherapy resistance of CDK4 alterations in vitro and in vivo experiment. And CDK4 alterations was shown to promote radiotherapy resistance through phosphorylation of MAPK/ERK signaling pathway in SCLC.

Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) This study aimed to evaluate the predictive potential of contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CT)-based radiomics for the treatment outcomes of patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) after definitive chemoradiotherapy (dCRT). MATERIALS/METHODS This retrospective study included 122 locally advanced ESCC patients who received dCRT. Eligible patients were randomly divided into training cohort (n = 85) and validation cohort (n = 37). Least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) regression was performed to select optimal radiomic features to calculate Rad-score for predicting overall survival (OS) in the training cohort. Univariate and multivariate analyses were performed to identify the predictive clinical factors and hematologic parameters for developing a nomogram model. The C-index was used to assess the performance of the predictive model and calibration curve was used to evaluate the accuracy. RESULTS Tenradiomic features were selected by LASSO regression analysis to calculate Rad-score for predicting OS. The patients with Rad-score>0.47 had high risk of death, and those with a Rad-score≤0.47 had low risk of death. Tumor location and neutrophil-to-monocyte ratio (NMR) were significantly associated with OS in univariate analysis. Multivariate analysis showed that NMR and Rad-score were independent predictive factors for OS. A nomogram model was built based on the result of multivariate analysis. The C-index of the nomogram was 0.619 (95% CI 0.518-0.720) in training cohort and 0.573 (95% CI 0.385-0.760) in validation cohort. The 2-year OS rate predicted by the nomogram model was highly consistent with the actual 2-year OS rate both in training and validation cohorts. CONCLUSION We developed and validated a prediction model based on radiomic features and hematologic parameters, which could be used to predict OS of ESCC patients after dCRT. This model is conducive to identifying the patients with ESCC benefited more from dCRT.

Abstract
Montmorillonite (MMT), a natural absorbent agent, has widely been accepted for its antidiarrhea function in human and farm animals; however, its specific physicochemical property limits its biological function in practical use. In the current study, raw MMT was loaded by andrographolide, namely andrographolide loaded montmorillonite (AGP-MMT). The microstructure of AGP-MMT was observed by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The effect of AGP-MMT on the growth performance, intestinal barrier and inflammation was investigated in an enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC) challenged mice model. The results show that the microstructure of MMT was obviously changed after andrographolide modification: AGP-MMT exhibited a large number of spheroid particles, and floccule aggregates, but lower interplanar spacing compared with MMT. ETEC infection induced body weight losses and intestinal barrier function injury, as indicated by a lower villus height and ratio of villus height/crypt depth, whereas the serum levels of diamine oxidase (DAO), D-xylose and ETEC shedding were higher in the ETEC group compared with the CON group. Mice pretreated with AGP-MMT showed alleviated body weight losses and the intestinal barrier function injury induced by ETEC challenge. The villus height and the ratio of villus height/crypt depth, were higher in mice pretreated with AGP-MMT than those pretreated with equal levels of MMT. Pretreatment with AGP-MMT also alleviated the increased concentration of serum tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and interleukin-1β (IL-1β), and the corresponding genes in the jejunum induced by ETEC infection in mice. The protein and mRNA levels of IL-1β were lower in mice pretreated with AGP-MMT than those with equal levels of MMT. The results indicate that AGP-MMT was more effective in alleviating intestinal barrier injury and inflammation in mice with ETEC challenge than MMT.

Abstract
Blastocystis is a common unicellular intestinal protozoa in humans and animals, and the most common clinical manifestations of infections include abdominal pain and diarrhea. Based on the sequence of the small-subunit ribosomal RNA (SSU rRNA) gene, 28 subtypes of B. hominis (ST1 to ST17, ST21 and ST23 to ST32) have been characterized. Previous studies have demonstrated that B. hominis infection is strongly associated with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and other intestinal diseases, which threatens the health and quality of life among patients with B. hominis infection and is considered as an important public health problem. This review summarizes the progress of researches on B. hominis infection among IBD and IBS patients during the past 20 years, so as to provide insights into management of blastocystosis in China.

Abstract
The antibacterial system based on the silver element has been a very promising antibacterial material. However, the antibacterial activity of silver nanomaterials largely depends on their chemical composition and physical properties. Herein, we prepared ultrasmall silver nanoclusters by directly reducing silver ions with antimicrobial peptide in a green way. The positively charged peptide ligands drove the silver nanoclusters binding to bacteria by electrostatic attraction. Contrary to the large-sized silver nanomaterials, the ultrasmall silver nanoclusters were able to rapidly penetrate bacteria membranes via strong hydrophobic association, significantly promoting the generation of reactive oxygen species, and the subsequent high oxidative stress led to bacterial death. Moreover, the silver nanoclusters with antibacterial peptide ligand exhibited good stability, low cytotoxicity, and long-term antibacterial activity. Besides, synergistic enhancement of silver nanoclusters on antibacterial activity was observed. Therefore, the silver nanoclusters conjugated with the antimicrobial peptide can act as a synergistic antibacterial agent, in which their bio-interactions with bacteria have been regulated to achieve a rapid, long-lasting, and broad-spectrum antibacterial effect.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the histopathological and immunohistochemical characteristics of benign apocrine cystic papillary hyperplasia of the breast with loss of myoepithelial cell layer. Methods: The clinical data, histopathological features and immunohistochemical profile of patients with benign apocrine cystic papillary hyperplasia of breast with loss of myoepithelial cell layer from January 2016 to December 2021 were examined, in which six patients were identified. Results: All six patients were female, aged 36-61 years (median 46 years), who presented with a breast mass; three cases were from the left breast and three cases were from the right breast. Microscopic examination of all cases showed breast hyperplasia with apocrine cysts, accompanied by different degrees of micropapillary and papillary hyperplasia of apocrine cells. One case was associated with lobular carcinoma in situ, and one case was associated with apocrine ductal carcinoma in situ with intraductal dissemination in adenosis. Immunohistochemical staining of CK5/6, p63, SMA, SMMHC, Calponin and CD10 showed complete absence of myoepithelial cell layer surrounding ducts in apocrine cystic papillary hyperplasia. Conclusions: The myoepithelial cells of apocrine cystic papillary hyperplasia of the breast may undergo abnormal changes and may even be completely lost. The diagnosis should be comprehensively considered along with cytomorphological and histological features to avoid overdiagnosis.

Abstract
Objective: To comprehensively assess the current status of extrauterine growth restriction (EUGR) in very preterm infants (VPI) and its associated factors in Chinese neonatal intensive care units (NICU). Methods: In this cohort study, 6 179 preterm infants born at <32 weeks' gestation were included, who were admitted to 57 hospitals in the China Neonatal Network in 2019 and hospitalized for ≥7 days. EUGR was evaluated by a cross-sectional definition (weight at discharge<10th percentile for postmenstrual age), a longitudinal definition (decline in weight Z score>1 from birth to discharge), and weight growth velocity. The comparison between infants with and without EUGR was conducted by t-test, Mann-Whitney U test or χ2 test as appropriate. Multivariable Logistic regression models were used to evaluate associations between EUGR with different definitions and maternal and neonatal factors, clinical practices, and neonatal morbidities. Results: A total of 6 179 VPI were enrolled in the study, with a gestational age of (29.8±1.5) weeks and birth weight of (1 365±304) g; 56.2% (3 474) of them were male. Among them, 48.4% (2 992 VPI) were cross-sectional EUGR and 74.9% (4 628 VPI) were longitudinal EUGR. Z score of weight was (0.13±0.78) at birth and decrease to (-1.35±0.99) at discharge. The weight growth velocity was 10.13 (8.42, 11.66) g/(kg·d). Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that among the influential factors that could be intervened after birth, late attainment of full enteral feeds (ORadjust=1.01, 95%CI 1.01-1.02, P<0.001; ORadjust=1.01, 95%CI 1.01-1.02, P<0.001), necrotizing enterocolitis≥Ⅱstage (ORadjust=2.64, 95%CI 1.60-4.35, P<0.001; ORadjust=1.62, 95%CI 1.10-2.40, P<0.001) and patent ductus arteriosus (ORadjust=1.94, 95%CI 1.50-2.51, P<0.001; ORadjust=1.63, 95%CI 1.29-2.06, P<0.001) were all associated with increased risks of both cross-sectional and longitudinal EUGR. In addition, late initiation of enteral feeds (ORadjust=1.06, 95%CI 1.02-1.09, P=0.020) and respiratory distress syndrome (ORadjust=1.45, 95%CI 1.24-1.69, P<0.001) were all associated with cross-sectional EUGR. Breast milk feeding (ORadjust=1.33, 95%CI 1.05-1.68, P<0.001) was associated with a higher risk of longitudinal EUGR. Conclusions: The incidence of EUGR in VPI in China is high. Some modifiable risk factors provide priorities to improve postnatal growth for VPI. Nutritional management of VPI and the efforts to decrease the incidence of complications are still the focus of clinical management in China.

Abstract
We measured the nuclear-recoil ionization yield in silicon with a cryogenic phonon-sensitive gram-scale detector. Neutrons from a monoenergetic beam scatter off of the silicon nuclei at angles corresponding to energy depositions from 4 keV down to 100 eV, the lowest energy probed so far. The results show no sign of an ionization production threshold above 100 eV. These results call for further investigation of the ionization yield theory and a comprehensive determination of the detector response function at energies below the keV scale.
