Abstract
OBJECTIVE To explore the attitudes and perceptions of patient safety culture for pharmacy workers in China by using a Pharmacy Survey on Patient Safety Culture (PSOPSC), and to assess the psychometric properties of the translated Chinese language version of the PSOPSC. DESIGN Cross-sectional study. PARTICIPANTS Data were obtained from 20 hospital pharmacies in the southwest part of China. METHODS We performed χ(2) test to explore the differences on pharmacy staff in different hospital and qualification levels and countries towards patient safety culture. We also computed descriptive statistics, internal consistency coefficients and intersubscale correlation analysis, and then conducted an exploratory factor analysis. A test-retest was performed to assess reproducibility of the items. RESULTS A total of 630 questionnaires were distributed of which 527 were responded to validly (response rate 84%). The positive response rate for each item ranged from 37% to 90%. The positive response rate on three dimensions ('Teamwork', 'Staff Training and Skills' and 'Staffing, Work Pressure and Pace') was higher than that of Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) data (p<0.05). There was a statistical difference in the perception of patient safety culture at different hospital and qualification levels. The internal consistency of the total survey was comparatively satisfied (Cronbach's α=0.89). CONCLUSIONS The results demonstrated that among the pharmacy staffs surveyed in China, there was a positive attitude towards patient safety culture in their organisations. Identifying perspectives of patient safety culture from pharmacists in different hospital and qualification levels are important, since this can help support decisions about action to improve safety culture in pharmacy settings. The Chinese translation of the PSOPSC questionnaire (V.2012) applied in our study is acceptable.

Abstract
Using a sample of 1.3 × 10(9) J/ψ events collected with the BESIII detector, we report the first observation of η(')→π(+)π(-)π(+)π(-) and η(')→π(+)π(-)π(0)π(0). The measured branching fractions are B(η(')→π(+)π(-)π(+)π(-)) = [8.53 ± 0.69(stat.) ± 0.64(syst.)]×10(-5) and B(η(')→π(+)π(-)π(0) π(0)) = [1.82 ± 0.35(stat.) ± 0.18(syst.)] × 10(-4), which are consistent with theoretical predictions based on a combination of chiral perturbation theory and vector-meson dominance.

Abstract
Attacker-Defender Stackelberg security games (SSGs) have emerged as an important research area in multi-agent systems. However, existing SSGs models yield fixed, static, schedules which fail in dynamic domains where defenders face execution uncertainty, i.e., in domains where defenders may face unanticipated disruptions of their schedules. A concrete example is an application involving checking fares on trains, where a defender's schedule is frequently interrupted by fare evaders, making static schedules useless.
To address this shortcoming, this paper provides four main contributions. First, we present a novel general Bayesian Stackelberg game model for security resource allocation in dynamic uncertain domains. In this new model, execution uncertainty is handled by using a Markov decision process (MDP) for generating defender policies. Second, we study the problem of computing a Stackelberg equilibrium for this game and exploit problem structure to reduce it to a polynomial-sized optimization problem. Shifting to evaluation, our third contribution shows, in simulation, that our MDP-based policies overcome the failures of previous SSG algorithms. In so doing, we can now build a complete system, that enables handling of schedule interruptions and, consequently, to conduct some of the first controlled experiments on SSGs in the field. Hence, as our final contribution, we present results from a real-world experiment on Metro trains in Los Angeles validating our MDP-based model, and most importantly, concretely measuring the benefits of SSGs for security resource allocation.

Abstract
Background Copy number variations (CNVs) are a main source of genomic structural variations underlying animal evolution and production traits. Here, with one pure-blooded Angus bull as reference, we describe a genome-wide analysis of CNVs based on comparative genomic hybridization arrays in 29 Chinese domesticated bulls and examined their effects on gene expression and cattle growth traits. Results We identified 486 copy number variable regions (CNVRs), covering 2.45% of the bovine genome, in 24 taurine (Bos taurus), together with 161 ones in 2 yaks (Bos grunniens) and 163 ones in 3 buffaloes (Bubalus bubalis). Totally, we discovered 605 integrated CNVRs, with more “loss” events than both “gain” and “both” ones, and clearly clustered them into three cattle groups. Interestingly, we confirmed their uneven distributions across chromosomes, and the differences of mitochondrion DNA copy number (gain: taurine, loss: yak & buffalo). Furthermore, we confirmed approximately 41.8% (253/605) and 70.6% (427/605) CNVRs span cattle genes and quantitative trait loci (QTLs), respectively. Finally, we confirmed 6 CNVRs in 9 chosen ones by using quantitative PCR, and further demonstrated that CNVR22 had significantly negative effects on expression of PLA2G2D gene, and both CNVR22 and CNVR310 were associated with body measurements in Chinese cattle, suggesting their key effects on gene expression and cattle traits. Conclusions The results advanced our understanding of CNV as an important genomic structural variation in taurine, yak and buffalo. This study provides a highly valuable resource for Chinese cattle’s evolution and breeding researches. Abstract
Induction of cell-autonomous apoptosis following oncogene-induced overproliferation is a major tumor-suppressive mechanism in vertebrates. However, the detailed mechanism mediating this process remains enigmatic. In this study, we demonstrate that dMyc-induced cell-autonomous apoptosis in the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster relies on an intergenic sequence termed the IRER (irradiation-responsive enhancer region). The IRER mediates the expression of surrounding proapoptotic genes, and we use an in vivo reporter of the IRER chromatin state to gather evidence that epigenetic control of DNA accessibility within the IRER is an important determinant of the strength of this response to excess dMyc. In a previous work, we showed that the IRER also mediates P53-dependent induction of proapoptotic genes following DNA damage, and the chromatin conformation within IRER is regulated by polycomb group-mediated histone modifications. dMyc-induced apoptosis and the P53-mediated DNA damage response thus overlap in a requirement for the IRER. The epigenetic mechanisms controlling IRER accessibility appear to set thresholds for the P53- and dMyc-induced expression of apoptotic genes in vivo and may have a profound impact on cellular sensitivity to oncogene-induced stress.

Abstract
In the mammalian olfactory system, one olfactory sensory neuron (OSN) expresses a single olfactory receptor gene. By calcium imaging of individual OSNs in intact mouse olfactory turbinates, we observed that a subset of OSNs (Ho-OSNs) located in the most ventral olfactory receptor zone can mediate distinct signaling pathways when activated by structurally similar ligands. Calcium imaging showed that Ho-OSNs were highly sensitive to 2-heptanone, heptaldehyde and cis-4-heptenal. 2-heptanone-evoked intracellular calcium elevation was mediated by cAMP signaling while heptaldehyde triggered the diacylglycerol pathway. An increase of intracellular calcium evoked by cis-4-heptenal was due to a combination of activation mediated by the adenylate cyclase pathway and suppression generated by phospholipase C signaling. Pharmacological studies demonstrated that novel mechanisms were involved in the phospholipase C-mediated intracellular calcium changes. Binary-mixture studies and cross-adaptation data indicate that three odorants acted on the same olfactory receptor. The feature that an olfactory receptor mediates multiple signaling pathways was specific for Ho-OSNs and not established in another population of OSNs characterized. Our study suggests that distinct signaling pathways triggered by ligand-induced conformational changes of an olfactory receptor constitute a complex information process mechanism in olfactory transduction. This study has important implications beyond olfaction in that it provides insights of plasticity and complexity of G-protein-coupled receptor activation and signal transduction.

Abstract
Extracellular purines and pyrimidines are important signaling molecules that mediate diverse biological functions via cell surface purinergic receptors. Although purinergic modulation to olfactory activity has been reported, cell-specific expression and action of purinergic receptors deserve further exploration. We physiologically characterized expression of purinergic receptors in a set of olfactory sensory neurons that are responsive to both acetophenone and benzaldehyde (AB-OSNs). Sparsely distributed in the most ventral olfactory receptor zone, AB-OSNs were activated by P2 purinergic receptor agonists but not by P1 purinergic receptor agonist adenosine. Both P2X-selective agonist α,β-methylene ATP and P2Y-selective agonist uridine 5'-triphosphate (UTP) were stimulatory to AB-OSNs, indicating expression of both P2X and P2Y purinergic receptors in AB-OSNs. Pharmacological characterization of receptor specificity using various P2X and P2Y agonists and antagonists illustrated that P2X1 and P2Y2 receptors played major roles in purinergic signaling in AB-OSNs. Interestingly, the results of purinergic modulation to acetophenone-evoked responses were different from those to benzaldehyde-evoked responses within the same neurons. Activation of P2X1 receptors had more profound inhibitory effects on benzaldehyde-evoked intracellular calcium elevation than on acetophenone-evoked responses within the same neurons, and the reverse was true when P2Y2 receptors were activated. Cross-adaptation data showed that acetophenone and benzaldehyde bound to the same olfactory receptor. Thus, our study has demonstrated that purinergic signaling of P2X and P2Y receptors has different effects on olfactory transduction mediated by a defined olfactory receptor and the consequences of purinergic modulation of olfactory activity might depend on stereotypic structures of the odorant-receptor complex.

Abstract
Charged-pion-interferometry measurements were made with respect to the second- and third-order event plane for Au+Au collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=200 GeV. A strong azimuthal-angle dependence of the extracted Gaussian-source radii was observed with respect to both the second- and third-order event planes. The results for the second-order dependence indicate that the initial eccentricity is reduced during the medium evolution, which is consistent with previous results. In contrast, the results for the third-order dependence indicate that the initial triangular shape is significantly reduced and potentially reversed by the end of the medium evolution, and that the third-order oscillations are largely dominated by the dynamical effects from triangular flow.

Abstract
Over 200 rare and fully penetrant pathogenic mutations in amyloid precursor protein (APP), presenilin 1 and 2 (PSEN1 and PSEN2) cause a subset of early-onset familial Alzheimer's disease (EO-FAD). Of these, 21 cases of EO-FAD families carrying unique APP locus duplications remain the only pathogenic copy number variations (CNVs) identified to date in Alzheimer's disease (AD). Using high-density DNA microarrays, we performed a comprehensive genome-wide analysis for the presence of rare CNVs in 261 EO-FAD and early/mixed-onset pedigrees. Our analysis revealed 10 novel private CNVs in 10 EO-FAD families overlapping a set of genes that includes: A2BP1, ABAT, CDH2, CRMP1, DMRT1, EPHA5, EPHA6, ERMP1, EVC, EVC2, FLJ35024 and VLDLR. In addition, CNVs encompassing two known frontotemporal dementia genes, CHMP2B and MAPT were found. To our knowledge, this is the first study reporting rare gene-rich CNVs in EO-FAD and early/mixed-onset AD that are likely to underlie pathogenicity in familial AD and perhaps related dementias.

Abstract
AIM Chronic cough is the most common extra-esophageal manifestation of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). This study aimed to retrospectively analyze outcomes in patients with GERD-related cough following laparoscopic Nissen fundoplication (LNF) and Stretta radiofrequency (RF) respectively. METHODS Medical charts of 83 patients with GERD-related cough that underwent LNF or Stretta RF between 2007 and 2012 were retrieved. Symptom scores (heartburn, regurgitation and cough) and proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) usages were evaluated. RESULTS A total of 83 patients with GERD-related cough underwent LNF (N.=35) and Stretta RF (N.=48), and were followed up 36.78 ± 16.12 months (range 13-55 months). During the follow-up, the post-treatment scores were statistically lower as compared with the pre-treatment scores in both groups, while the cough improvement after Stretta was significantly lower than that after LNF (P<0.001). Besides, 27 (77.1%) patients achieved complete PPI therapy independence after LNF, comparing with 27 (65.1%) after Stretta (P<0.05). No significant differences in post-treatment complications were observed except for the abdominal distention. CONCLUSION Even though laparoscopic Nissen fundoplication and Stretta are capable of controlling GERD-related cough effectively and safely in selected patients, laparoscopic Nissen fundoplication could improve more in symptoms and PPI elimination.

Abstract
Estrogen receptor-alpha positive (ER+) breast cancers comprise the majority of human breast cancers, but molecular mechanisms underlying this subtype of breast cancers remain poorly understood. Here, we show that ER+ mammary luminal tumors arising in Tip30−/−MMTV-Neu mice exhibited increased enrichment of luminal progenitor gene signature. Deletion of the Tip30 gene increased proportion of mammary stem and progenitor cell populations, and raised susceptibility to ER+ mammary luminal tumors in female Balb/c mice. Moreover, Tip30−/− luminal progenitors displayed increases in propensity to differentiate to mature ER+ luminal cells and FoxA1 expression. Knockdown of FoxA1 expression in Tip30−/− progenitors by shRNA specific for FoxA1 reduced their differentiation toward ER+ mature luminal cells. Taken together, our results suggest that TIP30 is a key regulator for maintaining ER+ and ER−luminal pools in the mammary luminal lineage, and loss of it promotes expansion of ER+ luminal progenitors and mature cells and ER+ mammary tumorigenesis.

Abstract
Goat is an important agricultural animal for meat production. Functional studies have demonstrated that microRNAs (miRNAs) regulate gene expression at the post-transcriptional level and play an important role in various biological processes. Although studies on miRNAs expression profiles have been performed in various animals, relatively limited information about goat muscle miRNAs has been reported. To investigate the miRNAs involved in regulating different periods of skeletal muscle development, we herein performed a comprehensive research for expression profiles of caprine miRNAs during two developmental stages of skeletal muscles: fetal stage and six month-old stage. As a result, 15,627,457 and 15,593,721 clean reads were obtained from the fetal goat library (FC) and the six month old goat library (SMC), respectively. 464 known miRNAs and 83 novel miRNA candidates were identified. Furthermore, by comparing the miRNA profile, 336 differentially expressed miRNAs were identified and then the potential targets of the differentially expressed miRNAs were predicted. To understand the regulatory network of miRNAs during muscle development, the mRNA expression profiles for the two development stages were characterized and 7322 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified. Then the potential targets of miRNAs were compared to the DEGs, the intersection of the two gene sets were screened out and called differentially expressed targets (DE-targets), which were involved in 231 pathways. Ten of the 231 pathways that have smallest P-value were shown as network figures. Based on the analysis of pathways and networks, we found that miR-424-5p and miR-29a might have important regulatory effect on muscle development, which needed to be further studied. This study provided the first global view of the miRNAs in caprine muscle tissues. Our results help elucidation of complex regulatory networks between miRNAs and mRNAs and for the study of muscle development.

Abstract
We report a long-time working femtosecond laser using metal-free sapphire-based graphene as a saturable absorber (SA). The sapphire-based graphene yielded excellent nonlinear saturable absorption properties and was demonstrated to be suitable as an SA for an ultrafast solid-state laser. Stable mode-locked pulses of 325 fs were obtained at a central wavelength of 1032 nm with a repetition rate of 66.3 MHz. At pump power of 8.23 W the average output power was 1.78 W and the highest pulse energy reached 26.8 nJ with a peak power of 72.6 kW. Our work opens up a facile route for making reliable graphene SA in the mode-locking technique and also displays an exciting prospect in making low-cost and ultrafast lasers.

Abstract
Colletotrichum truncatum (syn. C. capsici) is an important plant pathogen that has a wide host range including pepper, eggplant, muskmelon, chickpea, grapes, and many other species of plants (1,2). Anthracnose fruit rot incited by C. coccodes is a prevalent disease in some major tomato (Solanum esculentum) producing regions in China. In October 2012, anthracnose symptoms (circular, sunken lesions with spore masses produced in black acervuli) were observed on ripe tomato fruit in Fuzhou City of Fujian Province, China. Three single-spore isolates (FZ-1, FZ-2, and FZ-3) were derived from fungal cultures isolated from different infected fruits from the same farm. A mycelial plug (5 mm in diameter) from the growing edge of an active colony of each isolate was transferred onto potato dextrose agar (PDA) and incubated at 28°C. Colonies grown on PDA changed from grayish to dark grey with an average colony diameter of 71.8 mm after 7 days. Conidia were falcate and 17.6 to 21.6 × 2.57 to 3.31 μm. Growth rate measured by colony diameter was greater at 25 to 30°C than at other temperatures tested (12, 18, 20, and 37°C). Based upon these morphological and cultural characteristics, the causal agent was identified as C. truncatum (3). To test the three isolates for pathogenicity, detached ripe tomato fruits were each inoculated with 1 μl of a conidial suspension (106 conidia/ml) using either injection or applying a droplet of the spore suspension on the surface of each fruit; the control treatment consisted of fruit that was treated with 1 μl of sterilized water using the two methods of inoculation mentioned above. Five replicate ripe fruits were inoculated with each of the three isolates using each method described above, and incubated in a moist chamber at 25°C. Five ripe fruits were used the negative control treatment for each inoculation method. After 7 days, typical anthracnose symptoms had developed on the inoculated fruit but not on control fruit. To confirm identity of the three isolates, the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region of ribosomal DNA (rDNA), the glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH) gene, a partial sequence of the actin (ACT) gene, and partial histone 3 (HIS3) gene were amplified with ITS1 and ITS4 universal primers, GDF1 and GDR1 primers, ACT-512F and ACT-783R primers, and CYLH3F and CYLH3R primers, respectively (1). The ITS consensus sequence (Accession No. KC460308) of these isolates shared 99% homology with the ITS sequence of C. truncatum in GenBank (AJ301945), and the three other consensus sequences were all 100% homologous with the corresponding sequences of C. truncatum in Genbank (GU228254, GU227960, and GU228058, respectively). The pathogen was re-isolated from the inoculated fruit but not from the control fruit, and the identity of the re-isolates was confirmed to be C. truncatum by morphological features and based on the ITS, GAPDH, ACT, and HIS3 sequences as described above.
