Abstract
We report on the analysis of the rare decay K(L)-->mu(+)mu(-)gamma the 1997 data from the KTeV experiment at Fermilab. A total of 9327 candidate events are observed with 2.4% background, representing a factor of 40 increase in statistics over the current world sample. We find that B(K(L)-->mu(+)mu(-)gamma) = (3.62 +/- 0.04(stat) +/- 0.08(syst)) x 10(-7). The form factor parameter alpha(K*) is measured to be alpha(K*) = -0.160(+0.026)(-0.028). In addition, we make the first measurement of the parameter alpha from the D'Ambrosio-Isidori-Portolés form factor, finding alpha = -1.54 +/- 0.10. In that model, this alpha measurement limits the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa parameter rho>-0.2.

Abstract
We observe 441 K(L)-->e(+)e(-)e(+)e(-) candidate events with a background of 4.2 events and measure B(K(L)-->e(+)e(-)e(+)e(-)) = [3.72+/-0.18(stat)+/-0.23(syst)]x10(-8) in the KTeV/E799II experiment at Fermilab. Using the distribution of the angle between the planes of the e(+)e(-) pairs, we measure the CP parameters beta(CP) = -0.23+/-0.09(stat)+/-0.02(syst) and gamma(CP) = -0.09+/-0.09(stat)+/-0.02(syst). We also present the first detailed study of the e(+)e(-) invariant mass spectrum in this decay mode.

Abstract
The complete nucleotide sequences of the S RNA of two Japanese isolates of Watermelon silver mottle virus were determined. One was isolated from naturally infected watermelon and causes malformation on upper leaves of Tetragonia expansa. The other was isolated from melon and causes characteristic yellow necrotic lesions on upper leaves of T. expansa. The total nucleotide sequences of the S RNA of WS-O and WS-Y were 3553 nt and 3558 nt long, respectively. Both the nucleotide sequences and the deduced amino acid sequences of WS-O and WS-Y were quite similar even though the symptoms on T. expansa are quite different. They were also significantly similar to those of the Taiwanese isolates, Topso-W and Tospo-To. These results suggested that the Japanese isolates and the Taiwanese isolates of WSMoV were classified as one group not only serologically but also genetically. Within the S RNA sequences, the most variable region was the intergenic region between the N gene and the NSs gene. This was due to a 20 nt insertion between the Japanese isolates and the Taiwanese isolates.

Abstract
We have studied the rare weak radiative hyperon decay Xi degrees -->Sigma degrees gamma in the KTeV experiment at Fermilab. We have identified 4045 signal events over a background of 804 events. The dominant Xi degrees -->Lambdapi degrees decay, which was used for normalization, is the only important background source. An analysis of the acceptance of both modes yields a branching ratio of B(Xi degrees -->Sigma degrees gamma)/B(Xi degrees -->Lambdapi degrees ) = (3.34+/-0.05+/-0.09)x10(-3). By analyzing the final state decay distributions, we have also determined that the Sigma degrees emission asymmetry parameter for this decay is alpha(XiSigma) = -0.63+/-0.09.

Abstract
The ultrastructural features of neuronal nitric oxide synthase (NOS) -immunoreactive interneurons of rat nucleus accumbens shell and core were studied and compared. The NOS-containing subpopulation displayed characteristics similar to those previously described for nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate diaphorase-, neuropeptide Y, or somatostatin-containing striatal neurons, but also showed properties not previously associated with them, particularly the formation of both asymmetric and symmetric synaptic junctions. Inputs derived mainly from unlabeled terminals, but some contacts were made by NOS-immunolabeled terminals, by means of asymmetric synapses. Immunopositive endings that formed symmetric synapses were mainly onto dendritic shafts, whereas those that formed asymmetric synapses targeted spine heads. Morphometric analysis revealed that the core and shell NOS-stained neurons had subtly different innervation patterns and that immunostained terminals were significantly larger in the shell. A parallel investigation explored synaptic associations with dopaminergic innervation identified by labeling with an antibody against tyrosine hydroxylase (TH). In both shell and core, TH-positive boutons formed symmetric synapses onto NOS-containing dendrites, and in the core, TH- and NOS-immunolabeled terminals converged on both a single spiny dendrite and a spine. These results suggest that, in the rat nucleus accumbens, NOS-containing neurons may be further partitioned into subtypes, with differing connectivities in shell and core regions. These NOS-containing neurons may be influenced by a dopaminergic input. Recent studies suggest that nitric oxide potentiates dopamine release and the current study identifies the medium-sized, densely spiny neurons as a possible site of such an interaction.

Abstract
Leptin, the protein product of the ob gene, is predominantly secreted from white adipose tissue, and acts on the brain to regulate food intake, energy expenditure, and neuroendocrine function. Obese rodent and humans are mostly associated with high circulating leptin levels. These findings have led to the conclusion that obese individuals are relatively insensitive to endogenous leptin termed 'leptin resistance'. The potential sites for leptin resistance include the blood-brain-barrier transport system and the leptin signaling mechanism in leptin-responsive neurons in the hypothalamus. In this review, we describe leptin, leptin receptor, and potential hypothesis of leptin resistance.

Abstract
We have performed studies of the K(0)(L)-->pi(+)pi(-)gamma direct emission ( DE) and inner Bremsstrahlung ( IB) vertices, based on data collected by KTeV during the 1996 Fermilab fixed target run. We find a(1)/a(2) = -0.737+/-0.034 GeV2 for the DE form-factor parameter in the rho-propagator parametrization, and report on fits of the form factor to linear and quadratic functions as well. We concurrently measure gamma(K(0)(L)-->pi(+)pi(-)gamma,E(*)(gamma)>20 MeV)/gamma(K(0)(L)-->pi(+)pi(-)) = (20.8+/-0.3)x10(-3), and a K(0)(L)-->pi(+)pi(-)gamma DE/(DE+IB) branching ratio of 0.683+/-0.011.

Abstract
We report on a search for the decay KL-->pi(0)e+e- carried out by the KTeV/E799 experiment at Fermilab. This decay is expected to have a significant CP violating contribution and the measurement of its branching ratio could support the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa mechanism for CP violation or could point to new physics. Two events were observed in the 1997 data with an expected background of 1.06+/-0.41 events, and we set an upper limit B(KL-->pi(0)e+e-)<5.1 x 10(-10) at the 90% confidence level.

Abstract
The experiments were conducted to determine the effects of the administration of growth hormone-releasing peptide-2 (GHRP-2, also named KP102), both orally by gavage and in feed, on the release of growth hormone (GH) in swine and to investigate whether attenuation of the GH response occurs after short-term treatment with the peptide in feed. In the first experiment, saline or GHRP-2 at doses of 1, 4.5 and 9 mg/kg body weight (BW) was dissolved in 15 ml saline and administered orally as a bolus by gavage to cross-bred castrated male swine (n = 6). Orally administered GHRP-2 stimulated dose-related increases in peak concentrations of GH, with a return to basal by 120 min. After administering GHRP-2 orally, peak concentrations of GH and areas under the GH response curves (GH AUCs) for 180 min were higher (P < 0.05) than those in saline controls. In Experiment 2, GHRP-2 at doses of 0 (served as control), 1, 4.5 and 9 mg/kg BW was mixed in 150 g of feed and offered to cross-bred castrated male swine (n = 6) at 0900 hr and 1700 hr daily for a 3-d period. Administration of 1 mg/kg BW GHRP-2 to swine in feed failed to stimulate the release of GH, but GHRP-2 at doses of 4.5 and 9 mg/kg BW significantly (P < 0.05) increased plasma concentrations of GH after initial and final treatments at 0900 hr on Days 1 and 3 of treatment, respectively. Peak concentrations of GH and GH AUCs for 180 min after the initial and final treatments in the 4.5 and 9 mg/kg BW GHRP-2-treated swine were higher (P < 0.05) than those in controls. After 3 d of treatment with GHRP-2 in feed at doses of 4.5 and 9 mg/kg BW, GH responses to the peptide were maintained. The results of the present study indicate that the administration of GHRP-2 orally by gavage and in feed stimulates the release of GH in swine, and that the GH-releasing effect of the peptide does not become desensitized after short-term administration in feed.

Abstract
Ovariectomy-induced changes on the periodontium (gingiva, alveolar bone, and periodontal ligament) in rats and the preventive effects of a Japanese herbal medicine, Chujo-to, were studied for a period of 49 days. The rats were divided into five groups: sham-operated (sham), ovariectomized (OVX), OVX given Chujo-to, OVX given 17beta-oestradiol, and OVX given the vehicle for 17beta-oestradiol, respectively. After the test period, the bone mineral content (BMC) of the mandibular condyle in OVX rats was similar to those in both sham rats and the OVX rats treated with either Chujo-to or 17beta-oestradiol. However, the scanning electron microscopic (SEM) analyses revealed that the periodontal ligament of the OVX rats and the OVX rats treated with Chujo-to became more coarse than that of the sham rats or the rats treated with 17beta-oestradiol. The surface of the alveolar bone in the OVX rats appeared to contain numerous small granules, which were not present in the sham rats and the rats treated with either Chujo-to or 17beta-oestradiol. These results suggest that ovariectomy caused alterations in the peridontium, but Chujo-to had a preventive effect on the surface architecture of the alveolar bones.

Abstract
The relationship between cytomegalovirus (CMV) antigenemia and the clinical course was examined in 57 patients with adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma (ATLL). All patients included had the acute/lymphoma type of ATL according to the criteria of the Japan Lymphoma Study Group (LSG). CMV antigenemia was assessed on admission and at the time when the patients had fever higher than 37. 5 degrees C, which did not respond to antibiotics for longer than 3 days. The incidence of CMV antigenemia was 44%. Approximately 90% of patients with CMV antigenemia died of infections with viruses, bacteria, and/or fungi, while approximately 40% of patients without CMV antigenemia died of deterioration of ATLL (P<0.0001). In this study, the patients with CMV antigenemia tended to survive longer than those negative for it (321.4 days vs. 266.2 days), although there was no statistical significance (P=0.09). Kaplan-Meier analysis revealed that CMV antigenemia was not a poor prognostic factor. When the disease status of ATLL was evaluated by thymidine kinase (TK) and soluble interleukin 2 receptor (sIL-2R), both had lower titers during CMV antigenemia (TK: P=0.01, sIL-2R: P=0.03, respectively). Therefore, CMV infections in ATLL patients seemed to have bimodal meanings; CMV infection at the end of clinical course were life-threatening, but infection during the first half of clinical course seemed to suppress ATLL activity and to contribute to the longer survival of the patients.

Abstract
We previously demonstrated that, in about 30% of primary adult T-cell leukaemia (ATL) cases, the leukaemic cells proliferated in response to granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF). In the present report, we describe five patients with the acute leukaemia type of ATL who showed marked neutrophilia and elevated serum G-CSF concentrations in the absence of infection. We further examined two of these patients for detailed clinical features and cellular characteristics of the tumour cells. The white blood cell counts of both patients were 62 x 10(9)/l, consisting of approximately 90% neutrophils and 10% ATL cells. Serum concentrations of G-CSF in the two patients were 138 pg/ml and 93 pg/ml. The G-CSF concentrations in supernatants of short-term cultures of the patients' peripheral blood T-cells were 2 5 pg/ml and 13 pg/ml respectively. Immunostaining with anti-G-CSF antibody demonstrated G-CSF production by primary ATL cells in both cases. The neutrophil count fluctuated simultaneously with activity of ATL. Primary ATL cells from one patient were shown to proliferate in response to G-CSF in vitro. These results suggest autocrine growth stimulation of primary ATL cells in a subgroup of patients.

Abstract
Frequent gains of 20q have been identified recently in many neoplasias, including breast, bladder, ovarian, pancreatic, and colon cancers. A high level of 20q13.2 amplification is associated with poor prognosis in breast cancer. We investigated the copy number of the 20q13.2 region including the ZNF217 oncogene in 17 nonmetastatic colorectal cancers (CRCs), 18 primary CRC tumors with liver metastasis, and 18 metastatic lesions by two-color fluorescence in situ hybridization to evaluate the significance of an increased copy number of 20q13.2 in CRC, especially in those cases with liver metastasis. The frequency of increased relative copy number of the 20q13.2 region was higher in primary and liver metastatic lesions of CRC than in CRC lesions without liver metastasis. In particular, a high-level increase (>3.0-fold) in the relative copy number of 20q13.2 was observed in 2 of 18 (11%) primary CRC lesions with liver metastasis, 7 of 18 (39%) liver metastatic lesions, and in none of the cases of primary CRC without liver metastasis. The absolute and relative copy number of chromosome 20q13.2 was higher in CRCs with metastasis than in CRCs without metastasis. The percentage of cells with high-level 20q13.2 amplification was also higher in both lesions with metastasis per specimen than without metastasis. Our results suggest that the level of 20q13.2 amplification correlates with the metastatic potential and tumor progression of CRC. The results also suggest that 20q13.2 amplification with ZNF217 is associated with increased metastatic potential.

Abstract
The vulnerability of streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetic rats to cold stress has been established. One of the elements controlling body temperature is thermogenesis, in which uncoupling protein (UCP) is known to play an important role. We have examined UCP2 and UCP3 expressions in brown adipose tissue (BAT), white adipose tissue (WAT), and skeletal muscle (MSL) during the acute and chronic phases of STZ-induced diabetes in rats. The long-term effect and the effect of insulin treatment thereafter were also unexplored previously and are examined in this study. In the acute phase of diabetes (2.5 days after STZ injection), UCP2 gene expression in BAT, WAT, and MSL, and UCP3 expression in the muscle were significantly increased. In the chronic phase of diabetes (21 days after STZ injection), UCP2 and UCP3 expression in the MSL were restored to the control levels without insulin supplementation. UCP2 in BAT and WAT remained high in the chronic phase, whereas UCP3 expression in BAT and WAT, which did not change in the acute phase, was significantly decreased. Insulin supplementation restored UCP2 expression in BAT and WAT, but over-corrected UCP3 in WAT above the control and did not affect UCP3 expression in BAT. Insulin supplementation depressed UCP3 expression in the MSL below control. These results indicate that the effects of STZ-induced diabetes on UCPs gene expression are tissue-specific as well as dependent on the duration of diabetes.

Abstract
Brain mitochondrial carrier protein-1 (BMCP1), a new member of the mitochondrial uncoupling carrier, has been shown to be expressed predominantly in the brain of the mice and humans. We cloned rat BMCP1 cDNA and investigated its mRNA level during postnatal development and under various metabolic conditions. The nucleotide sequence of the cDNA revealed that rat BMCP1 protein was composed of 322 amino acid residues, and was 99 and 96% identical to the mouse and human proteins and 29, 33 and 35% identical to rat uncoupling protein (UCP) 1, UCP2 and UCP3, respectively. The molecular weight was predicted to be 36017 Da and the protein of this size was detectable when the cDNA was expressed in vitro. Using Northern blot analysis, the corresponding mRNA, approximately 1.8-kb in size, was found expressed predominantly in the cerebrum, cerebellum and hypothalamus. A unique developmental pattern was identified in the brain, where BMCP1 expression was low in their fetal life, but significantly elevated in the first postnatal week. Thereafter BMCP1 mRNA was maintained to be gradually increased. In 48-h fasted or insulin-induced hypoglycemic rats, BMCP1 mRNA expression in the hypothalamus slightly, but significantly, decreased compared with that in their appropriate controls. The present results indicate that BMCP1 may be involved in pathogenesis of mitochondrial dysfunction in neurons induced by aging or neurodegenerative disorders, and perhaps in energy balance in the brain.

Abstract
Recent studies have demonstrated the involvements of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) neurotransmitter systems in the schizophrenic brain. In order to further elucidate the alterations of this system in schizophrenia, we employed immunohistochemical techniques and examined the expression and anatomical distribution of the GABA(B) receptor in the hippocampus of five subjects with schizophrenia and three age-matched controls. In the control hippocampus, the most intense immunoreactivity was observed in the soma and processes of multipolar interneurons throughout the hippocampus. Pyramidal cells too were intensely labeled in their soma and proximal portion of dendrites, although the labeling intensity was varied in each subregion. For example, in the CA1 subfield, the labeling intensity of pyramidal cells was much less intense than that in the CA3 and CA2 subfields. In the subjects with schizophrenia, GABA(B) immunoreactivity was markedly reduced in granule cells as well as in pyramidal cells throughout the CA fields. In interneurons, GABA(B) labeling was relatively preserved compared to that in pyramidal cells. Our findings suggest that in the hippocampus of schizophrenic patients the expression of the GABA(B) receptor is reduced, and raise the possibility that this reduction contributes to the pathophysiological process in the schizophrenic brain.

Abstract
The diabetic heart has an abnormal intracellular calcium ([Ca(2+)]i) metabolism. However, the responsible molecular mechanisms are unclear. The present study aimed to investigate mRNAs expressed in the proteins which regulate heart [Ca(2+)]i metabolism in streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetic rats. Expression of sarcoplasmic reticulum Ca(2+)-adenosine triphosphatase (SR Ca(2+)-ATPase) mRNA was significantly less in the heart 3 weeks after STZ injection than that in the age-matched controls. Together with the down-regulation of SR Ca(2+)-ATPase, expression of ryanodine sensitive Ca(2+)channel (RYR) mRNA was also decreased 12 weeks after STZ injection. Insulin supplementation fully restored the decreased mRNAs expression of SR Ca(2+)-ATPase and RYR. The diminished expression and restoration with insulin supplementation of SR Ca(2+)-ATPase was further confirmed at the protein level. In contrast, expression of mRNAs coding the L-type Ca(2+)channel, Na(+)-Ca(2+)exchanger, or phospholamban were not affected 3 or 12 weeks after STZ injection. These results can be taken to indicate that the down-regulation of SR Ca(2+)-ATPase and RYR mRNAs is a possible underlying cause of cardiac dysfunction in STZ-induced diabetic rats.

Abstract
The effects of GHRP-2 (also named KP102), a new growth hormone-releasing peptide, on the release of growth hormone (GH) and growth performance were examined in swine. The single intravenous (i. v.) injection of GHRP-2 at doses of 2, 10, 30 and 100 microg/kg body weight (BW) to cross-bred castrated male swine stimulated GH release in a dose-dependent manner, with a return to the baseline by 120 min. The peak GH concentrations and GH areas under the response curves (GH AUCs) for 180 min after the injections of GHRP-2 were higher (P < 0.05) than those after the injection of saline. The GH responses to repeated i.v. injections of GHRP-2 (30 microg/kg BW) at 2-h intervals for 6 h were decreased after each injection. The chronic subcutaneous (s.c.) administration of GHRP-2 (30 microg/kg BW) once daily for 30 days consistently stimulated GH release. The GH AUCs for 300 min after the injections on d 1, 10 and 30 of treatment in GHRP-2-treated swine were higher than those in saline-treated swine. However, chronic administration of GHRP-2 caused a partial attenuation of GH response between d 1 and 10 of treatment. The chronic s.c. administration of GHRP-2 also increased average daily gain for the entire treatment period by 22.35% (P < 0.05) and feed efficiency (feed/gain) by 20.64% (P < 0.01) over the saline control values, but did not significantly affect daily feed intake. These results indicate that GHRP-2 stimulates GH release and enhancing growth performance in swine.

Abstract
A 73-year-old man with acute adult T-cell leukemia (ATL) in remission was re-admitted to our hospital due to drowsiness, headache, and bilateral knee joint pain on May 17, 1998. On admission, examinations revealed decreased serum sodium concentration (112 mEq/l), low plasma osmotic pressure (259 mOsm/l), and elevated antidiuretic hormone(5.6 pg/ml). Cerebrospinal fluid examination showed an increased number of abnormal flower-like lymphocyte (951/microliter). Brain computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging found no abnormality in the hypothalamus or pituitary gland. These findings yielded a diagnosis of syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone secretion (SIADH). Though ATL patients typically exhibit a variety of clinical symptoms, SIADH is rarely one of the complications. Further investigation showed that IL-1 beta and IL-6 concentrations were increased in spinal fluid but not in serum. Recently, it has been reported that exogeneous IL-6 is an inducer of ADH secretion, and that primary ATL cells and HTLV-I infected cell lines can produce IL-6. In this case, we speculated that IL-6 produced by ATL cells that infiltrated a cerebral lesion may have played an important role in the development of SIADH.

Abstract
Leptin, an ob gene product, has been shown to suppress food intake by regulating hypothalamic neuromodulators. The present study was designed to examine the involvement of brain histamine in leptin-induced feeding suppression. A bolus infusion of 1.0 microg leptin into the rat third cerebroventricle (i3vt) elevated the turnover rate of hypothalamic neuronal histamine (P < 0.05) as assessed by pargyline-induced accumulation of tele-methylhistamine (t-MH), a major metabolite of histamine. No remarkable change in the mRNA expression of histidine decarboxylase (HDC), a histamine-synthesizing enzyme, was observed in the hypothalamus after i3vt infusion of leptin. These results indicate that leptin increases histamine turnover by affecting the posttranscriptional process of HDC formation or histamine release per se. As expected, concomitant suppression in 24-h cumulative food intake was also observed after infusion of leptin. Systemic depletion of brain histamine levels by pretreatment with an intraperitoneal injection of 224 micromol/kg alpha-fluoromethylhistidine (FMH), a suicide inhibitor of HDC, attenuated the leptin-induced feeding suppression by 50.7% (P < 0.05). This attenuation of feeding suppression was mimicked by the i3vt infusion of 2.24 micromol/kg FMH before leptin treatment (P < 0.05). In addition, concentrations of hypothalamic histamine and t-MH were lowered in diabetic (db/db) mice, which are known to be deficient in leptin receptors (P < 0.05 vs. lean littermates for each amine), although the amine levels were higher in diet-induced obese rats (P < 0.05 for each amine). Leptin-deficient obese mice (ob/ob) showed lower histamine turnover (P < 0.05 vs. lean littermates), which recovered after leptin infusion. Thus, a growing body of results points to an important role for the hypothalamic histamine neurons in the central regulation of feeding behavior controlled by leptin.

Abstract
Acute leukemia and lymphoma varieties of adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma (ATL) usually carry a poor prognosis. While etoposide is generally useful for treating ATL, especially as a daily oral maintenance regimen, etoposide has not proven effective in severe types of ATL efficient in some patients. Of 87 ATL patients whom we have treated, 51 had acute leukemia, 22 lymphoma and 14 progressive chronic leukemia. Seventy-nine patients were treated with a long term maintenance combination protocol, OPEC/MPEC (weekly doses of vincristine, 0.7 mg/m2 or methotrexate, 14 mg/m2; prednisolone, 20 mg/m2; etoposide, 70 mg/m2 and cyclophosphamide, 200 mg/m2). The other 8 patients, 3 with acute leukemia, 2 with lymphoma and 3 with progressive chronic leukemia, were treated with daily oral administration of 25 mg of etoposide and 10 mg of prednisolone (DOEP). The dose administered was modified in individual cases to maintain the granulocyte count and reduce the number of ATL cells. Considering both protocols, a complete response and a partial response were achieved in 31.0% and 58.6% patients, respectively. Median survival times (MST) of all patients and, acute leukemia, lymphoma and progressive chronic leukemia types were 7.5, 6.7, 9.6 and 12.4 months, respectively. Respective MST of patients treated with OPEC/MPEC or DOEP protocols were 7.1 and 18.0 months. Relatively normal WBC counts, lower lactate dehydrogenase concentration and normal calcium concentration, limited numbers of anatomic sites involved, good performance status and good response to chemotherapy were significantly associated with long survival time. Drug toxicity was not apparent, and about half of patients were treated in an outpatient setting.

Abstract
The present study was designed to examine the usefulness of 2,3-dimercaptosuccinic acid (DMSA) for the purpose of reducing cis-diamminedichloroplatinum (DDP)-induced nephrotoxicity and effective clinical use of DDP and safe. The effectiveness of DMSA on the DDP-excretion in rat kidney was observed by measuring the platinum concentration using Atomic Absorption Instrument. Co-administration of DMSA (1.0 or 2.0 mmol/kg) 1 hour after DDP injection (20 mumol/kg) showed more decrease in the platinum concentration than that immediately after DDP injection. The alleviating effect of DMSA on DDP toxicity was evaluated by lipid peroxidation, enzymatic antioxidants, and glutathione levels. The administration of DDP alone caused a significant increase in lipid peroxidation and significant decreases in enzymatic antioxidants and glutathione levels in the kidney. Co-administration of DMSA (2.0 mmol/kg) 1 hour after DDP injection showed the most effective reduction of these enzymatic damages caused by DDP. These findings suggested that the co-administration of DMSA (2.0 mmol/kg) 1 hour after DDP injection leads DDP to effective excrete from renal tissue and suppresses the lipid peroxide reaction and results in reduction of nephrotoxicity.
