Abstract
OBJECTIVES Since the new millennium, the number of e-health users has significantly increased. Among these, a particular category of people who are interested by this phenomenon is the one of pregnant women. The aim of the present study is to assess the sociodemographic and geographic differences existing in a sample of Italian pregnant women who search for information on the web. STUDY DESIGN Multicenter cross-sectional survey. METHODS The present study has been conducted from November 2011 to September 2012, in seven Italian cities, located in the North, in the Centre and in the South of Italy. Data were collected through an anonymous questionnaire, administered in waiting rooms of outpatient departments by trained medical doctors. Data were analysed through multivariate logistic regression models. RESULTS Overall, 1347 responders were interviewed. Eighty-six percent of them declared to surf the internet to retrieve pregnancy-related information. The most searched topics were fetal development (51.3%), healthy lifestyle during pregnancy (48.7%), physiology of pregnancy (39.8%), generic and specific tips/advices during pregnancy (37.2%) and lactation (36.8%). Statistically significant differences (P < 0.05) according to geographic origin, age and educational level were found with regard to the most frequently searched information on the Web, the reasons that pushed pregnant women to practice e-health, and the possibility to change lifestyles after e-health. CONCLUSIONS Our findings suggest that the phenomenon of pregnancy e-health is widespread and show social and geographic differences, in particular about city of residence, age and educational level. It might encourage healthcare professionals to be more available and exhaustive during routine visits and to be more careful about web content on this topic, also addressing the different needs into different geographic contexts.

Abstract
This study tests the potential for using Armadillo officinalis as a bioindicator of exposure to and activation of benzene metabolic pathways using an in vivo model. A. officinalis specimens collected in a natural reserve were divided into a control and three test groups exposed to 2.00, 5.32 or 9.09 µg/m(3) benzene for 24h. Three independent tests were performed to assess model reproducibility. Animals were dissected to obtain three pooled tissue samples per group: hepatopancreas (HEP), other organs and tissues (OOT), and exoskeleton (EXO). Muconic acid (MA), S-phenylmercapturic acid (S-PMA), two human metabolites of benzene, and changes in mtDNA copy number, a human biomarker of benzene exposure, were determined in each sample; benzene was determined only in EXO. MA was measured by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with ultraviolet (UV) detection, S-PMA by triple quadrupole mass spectrometer liquid chromatography with electro spray ionization (LC-MS-ESI-TQD), mtDNA by real-time quantitative PCR and end-point PCR, and benzene by quadrupole mass spectrometer head-space gas chromatography (HSGC-MS). MA and S-PMA levels rose both in HEP and OOT; EXO exhibited increasing benzene concentrations; and mtDNA copy number rose in HEP but not in OOT samples. Overall, our findings demonstrate that A. officinalis is a sensitive bioindicator of air benzene exposure and show for the first time its ability to reproduce human metabolic dynamics.

Abstract
Skeletal myogenesis has been and is currently under extensive study in both mammals and teleosts, with the latter providing a good model for skeletal myogenesis because of their flexible and conserved genome. Parallel investigations of muscle studies using both these models have strongly accelerated the advances in the field. However, when transferring the knowledge from one model to the other, it is important to take into account both their similarities and differences. The main difficulties in comparing mammals and teleosts arise from their different temporal development. Conserved aspects can be seen for muscle developmental origin and segmentation, and for the presence of multiple myogenic waves. Among the divergences, many fish have an indeterminate growth capacity throughout their entire life span, which is absent in mammals, thus implying different post-natal growth mechanisms. This review covers the current state of the art on myogenesis, with a focus on the most conserved and divergent aspects between mammals and teleosts.

Two-year-results of Endurant stent-graft in challenging aortic neck morphologies versus standard anatomies. THE JOURNAL OF CARDIOVASCULAR SURGERY 2014; 55:85-92. Abstract
AIM The aim of this paper was to evaluate the influence of a challenging neck on mid-term results using the Endurant I stent-graft system in high risk patients. METHODS A retrospective study was conducted on a prospectively compiled database of 72 elective patients with challenging neck treated with the Endurant I system (Endurant Stent Graft, Medtronic AVE, Santa Rosa, CA, USA). These patients were compared to a control group (65 patients) without significant neck problems. The endpoints were mid-term 2-years technical, clinical success and the event free survival of all treated patients. RESULTS Mean age was 76.12 years; 76.6% of patients were males. Risk factors and preoperative variables did not differ significantly between the two groups. Only 4 (5.5%) patients of the study group vs. 2 (3.1%) in the control group developed type I endoleak during the follow-up. Three (4.1%) study group patients developed type III endoleak vs. 2 (3.1%) in the control group. All these patients required an adjunct procedure of relining with a new endograft. No type II endoleaks requiring adjunctive endovascular procedures were detected in our series. The 2-year event free survival rate did not differ statistically between the two groups (P=0.425). CONCLUSION Treatment with the Endurant stent-graft is technically feasible and safe, yielding satisfactory results even in challenging anatomies. Mid-term results are promising and challenge current opinion concerning the negative influence of challenging neck anatomy on EVAR especially after a longer follow-up.

Abstract
miR-206, a member of the so-called myomiR family, is largely acknowledged as a specific, positive regulator of skeletal muscle differentiation. A growing body of evidence also suggests a tumor suppressor function for miR-206, as it is frequently downregulated in various types of cancers. In this study, we show that miR-206 directly targets cyclin D1 and contributes to the regulation of CCND1 gene expression in both myogenic and non-muscle, transformed cells. We demonstrate that miR-206, either exogenous or endogenous, reduces cyclin D1 levels and proliferation rate in C2C12 cells without promoting differentiation, and that miR-206 knockdown in terminally differentiated C2C12 cells leads to cyclin D1 accumulation in myotubes, indicating that miR-206 might be involved in the maintenance of the post-mitotic state. Targeting of cyclin D1 might also account, at least in part, for the tumor-suppressor activity suggested for miR-206 in previous studies. Accordingly, the analysis of neoplastic and matched normal lung tissues reveals that miR-206 downregulation in lung tumors correlates, in most cases, with higher cyclin D1 levels. Moreover, gain-of-function experiments with cancer-derived cell lines and with in vitro transformed cells indicate that miR-206-mediated cyclin D1 repression is directly coupled to growth inhibition. Altogether, our data highlight a novel activity for miR-206 in skeletal muscle differentiation and identify cyclin D1 as a major target that further strengthens the tumor suppressor function proposed for miR-206.
