Abstract
BACKGROUND Aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH) is a severe cerebrovascular accident with high morbidity and mortality. The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between level of inflammatory cytokines in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) of aSAH patients, the severity of aSAH, and the outcome of aSAH patients. METHODS aSAH patients were prospectively included and followed-up for 6 months. CSF samples were collected at 1-3, 4-6, and 7-9 days after aSAH onset. Levels of interleukin (IL)-1β, IL-18, and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) in the CSF of aSAH patients were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. RESULTS Eighty-one aSAH patients were enrolled. The levels of IL-1β, IL-18 and TNF-α in the CSF were especially higher in the group of aSAH patients with cerebral edema, cerebral vasospasm, and a high grade on Hunt-Hess scale, the high World Federation of Neurological Surgeons grades, and Fisher grade (P < 0.01). Higher levels of plasma C-reactive protein in the blood were correlated with poor outcome. The areas under the receiver operating characteristic curves for the levels of inflammatory cytokines in CSF were 0.85, 0.84, and 0.95, respectively. Clinical features (age, Hunt-Hess grade, etc.) were positively correlated with poor outcomes (P < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS The levels of IL-1β, IL-18, and TNF-α in CSF were elevated in aSAH patients and were positively associated with cerebral edema and acute hydrocephalus. Our findings suggest that CSF inflammatory cytokines might be biomarkers to assess severity and predict outcomes.

Abstract
RATIONALE Traditional digital subtraction angiography (DSA) provides lumen morphology of renal artery as indicators for vascular patency in patients with renal artery stenosis (RAS). It, however, lacks hemodynamic information toward target kidney. To solve this shortcoming, a novel technique, flat-panel detector parenchymal blood volume imaging (FD-PBV), is introduced, which is able to evaluate hemodynamic changes of target kidney intraoperatively. PATIENTS CONCERNS A 77-year-old female presented with hypertension, intermittent dizziness, nausea, and fatigue. DIAGNOSES Ninety-nine percent stenosis of left RAS was found. INTERVENTIONS Percutaneous transluminal renal angioplasty was performed, along with FD-PBV acquisition protocol. OUTCOMES Her symptoms relieved gradually after procedure. Intuitive FD-PBV maps showed her renal perfusion improved remarkably. Quantitative analysis of FD-PBV showed her kidney volume was 47.02 and 75.61 cm with average density of contrast medium (CM) 58.1 HU and 311.5 HU before and after stenting. Follow-up at 6 months showed patency of the stent and stable kidney blood perfusion. LESSONS FD-PBV technique possesses a remarkable value in quantitatively assessing the changes of kidney blood perfusion and can be a useful auxiliary technique for DSA.

Abstract
RATIONALE Arterial injuries during total knee arthroplasty (TKA) though rare may occur. Hemophilia may further challenge the management of such injury. PATIENT CONCERNS A 48-year-old male patient with severe hemophilia type A and stiff knee arthropathy underwent bilateral TKAs. Left popliteal artery injury was detected at the end of the left TKA. DIAGNOSES Urgent angiography confirmed the diagnosis of the left popliteal artery transection. INTERVENTIONS With clotting factor VIII replacement treatment, open repair was performed by end-to-end vascular bypass with the autograft of the large saphenous vein. No anticoagulant and antiplatelet treatment was administered postoperatively. Doses of the factor VIII were decreased step by step postoperatively. OUTCOMES Left lower limb was reperfused 4 hours after the onset of the ischemia. The patient recovered uneventfully. Postoperative Doppler examination showed the left popliteal artery remained patent. LESSONS The hemophilia may endanger the patients to higher risk of arterial injury during TKA because of the severe deformity and fibrosis around knee joint. For the hemophilia patients, with rational coagulation factor replacement therapy, open repair with autograft was an effective revascularization procedure for artery injury.

Abstract
UNLABELLED Children with chronic hepatitis C virus infection have limited treatment options. We evaluated the all-oral combination of sofosbuvir and ribavirin in adolescents aged 12-17 with hepatitis C virus genotype 2 or 3 (ClinicalTrials.gov NCT02175758). Fifty-two patients received sofosbuvir 400 mg once daily and weight-based ribavirin twice daily for 12 (genotype 2) or 24 (genotype 3) weeks. The pharmacokinetics of sofosbuvir and its metabolite GS-331007 were evaluated by intensive plasma sampling at day 7 in the first 10 patients enrolled and by sparse sampling in all patients throughout treatment. The primary efficacy endpoint was the percentage of patients with a sustained virologic response 12 weeks after treatment (SVR12). The median age of patients was 15 years, and 75% had genotype 3. Eighty-three percent of patients were treatment-naive, and 73% were infected by vertical transmission. Forty percent were assessed as not having cirrhosis; the remainder did not have a cirrhosis determination. Overall, SVR12 was achieved by 98% of patients (51/52; 95% confidence interval, 90%-100%). SVR12 rates were 100% (13/13) for patients with genotype 2 and 97% (38/39) for those with genotype 3. The single patient who did not achieve SVR12 was lost to follow-up after achieving SVR4. The most commonly reported adverse events were nausea (27%) and headache (23%). When compared with the exposure in adults treated in phase 2 and 3 sofosbuvir studies, the area under the curve and maximum concentration for sofosbuvir and GS-331007 in adolescents were within predefined pharmacokinetic equivalence boundaries of 50%-200%. CONCLUSION Sofosbuvir and ribavirin was safe and highly effective in adolescents with chronic hepatitis C virus genotype 2 or 3 infection. (Hepatology 2017;66:1102-1110).

Abstract
In this study, to investigate the effects of naringin on vascular endothelial cell (VEC) function, proliferation, apoptosis, and angiogenesis, rat VECs were cultured in vitro and randomly divided into four groups: control, serum‑starved, low‑concentration naringin treatment, and high‑concentration naringin treatment. MTT assay was used to detect cell proliferation while Hoechst 33258 staining and flow cytometry were used to detect apoptosis. Changes in the expression of apoptosis‑associated proteins [GRP78, CHOP, caspase‑12, and cytochrome c (Cyt.c)] were detected using western blotting. JC‑1 staining was employed to detect changes in mitochondrial membrane potential. Intracellular caspase‑3, ‑8, and ‑9 activity was determined by spectrophotometry. ELISA was used to detect endothelin (ET), and a Griess assay was used to detect changes in the expression of nitric oxide (NO) in culture medium. The study further divided an ovariectomized (OVX) rat model of osteoporosis randomly into four groups: OVX, sham‑operated, low‑concentration naringin treatment (100 mg/kg), and high‑concentration naringin treatment (200 mg/kg). After 3 months of treatment, changes in serum ET and NO expression, bone mineral density (BMD), and microvessel density of the distal femur (using CD34 labeling of VECs) were determined. At each concentration, naringin promoted VEC proliferation in a time‑ and dose‑dependent manner. Naringin also significantly reduced serum starvation‑induced apoptosis in endothelial cells, inhibited the expression of GRP78, CHOP, caspase‑12, and Cyt.c proteins, and reduced mitochondrial membrane potential as well as reduced the activities of caspase‑3 and ‑9. Furthermore, naringin suppressed ET in vitro and in vivo while enhancing NO synthesis. Distal femoral microvascular density assessment showed that the naringin treatment groups had a significantly higher number of microvessels than the OVX group, and that microvascular density was positively correlated with BMD. In summary, naringin inhibits apoptosis in VECs by blocking the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress‑ and mitochondrial‑mediated pathways. Naringin also regulates endothelial cell function and promotes angiogenesis to exert its anti‑osteoporotic effect.

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the value of open surgery repair and endovascular aortic repair in the treatment of abdominal aortic aneurysm which implicate visceral arteries. Methods: From January 2012 to October 2016, 26 patients were reviewed. According to the treatment, they were divided into open surgery group (n=7) and endovascular repair group(n=19). Then, the characteristics and relative data of follow-up of the two groups were analysis. Results: In open surgery group, there were 7 patients. All of them were men, median age 58(41-62) years and 1 patient were older than 75 years. And in endovascular repair group, there were 19 patients(14 men) of median age 72(66-76) years, 8 patients were older than 75 years. Patients in endovascular repair group were significantly older than who were in open surgery group (Z=-13.06, P<0.05). Complications of open surgery group and endovascular repair group were 57.14% and 15.79% respectively. There was no statistically significant difference (χ(2)=3.13, P>0.05). During follow-up, the diameters of aneurysm which planted stents were smaller than before. Conclusions: In the treatment of abdominal aortic aneurysm implicated visceral arteries, open surgery is mainly suitable for the patients with low-risk. But the rate of complications was high. By contrast, endovascular aortic repair with small trauma and high safety, has becoming the first choice.

Abstract
Design of three-dimensional metal oxide nanofibers by electrospinning is being widely explored. However, the impacts of calcination and sintering on the resulting morphology remain unknown. For the first time, (La0.6Sr0.4)0.99CoO3-δ (LSC) nanofiber, which is among the most promising electrode materials for solid oxide fuel cells, was synthesized by sol-gel electrospinning. By elevating the temperature in oxygen using in situ transmission electron microscopy, we discovered the structural transitions from nanofibers to nanotubes and then to nano-pearl strings. This facile and up-scalable method can be widely applied to design metal oxide one-dimensional nanomaterials with precise control in both geometry (nanofiber, nanotube and nano-pearl string) and surface area (by varying grain size).

Abstract
BACKGROUND Allograft with wire techniques showed a low fusion rate in pediatric atlantoaxial fusions (AAFs) in early studies. Using allograft in pediatric AAFs with screw/rod constructs has not been reported. Thus we compared the fusion rate and clinical outcomes in pediatric patients who underwent AAFs with screw/rod constructs using either a structural autograft or allograft. METHODS Pediatric patients (aged ≤12 years) who underwent AAFs between 2007 and 2015 were retrospectively evaluated. Patients were divided into 2 groups (allograft or autograft). Clinical and radiographic results were collected from hospital records and compared. RESULTS A total of 32 patients were included (18 allograft, 14 autograft). There were no significant group differences in age, sex, weight, diagnosis, or duration of follow-up. A similar fusion rate was achieved (allograft: 94%, 17/18; autograft: 100%, 14/14); however, the average fusion time was 3 months longer in the allograft group. Blood loss was significantly lower in the allograft group (68 ± 8.5 mL) than the autograft group (116 ± 12.5 mL). Operating time and length of hospitalization were slightly (nonsignificantly) shorter for the allograft group. A significantly higher overall incidence of surgery-related complications was seen in the autograft group, including a 16.7% (2/14) rate of donor-site-related complications. CONCLUSIONS The use of allograft for AAF was safe and efficacious when combined with rigid screw/rod constructs in pediatric patients, with a similar fusion rate to autografts and an acceptable complication rate. Furthermore, blood loss was less when using allograft and donor-site morbidity was eliminated; however, the fusion time was increased.

Abstract
The IL-1β gene is currently topic of interest for its important role in the pathogenesis of intervertebral disk degeneration. The new sequencing technology makes it crucial to study the effects of variants in IL-1β. Thus, 714 IL-1β variants with evidence supporting were collected from the EMBL database. Among them, 62 were non-synonymous single nucleotide variants (nsSNVs). Furthermore, six common nsSNVs were predicted to have damaging effects by SIFT, PolyPhen, PROVEAN and SNPs&GO. Based on the constructed three-dimensional structure of pro-IL-1β, rs375479974 with a mutation of Phe to Ser was proposed to reduce the stability of the pro-IL-1β protein. The rs375479974 variant was found to cause least common stabilizing amino acid residues, decrease hydrophilic and increase hydrophobic surface areas in the greatest degree, and have the lowest free energy alterations in I-Mutant 2.0 sequence analysis. When analyzing the interaction between the experimental 3D structure of mature IL-1β and its neutralizing McAb canakinumab complex, the rs775174784 substitution of Leu with Phe was found to attenuate this interaction by reducing binding energy, while rs375479974 not. Molecular dynamics simulation results in intervertebral disk environment supported rs775174784's effects. These results suggest that both rs375479974 and rs775174784 may have potential clinical and drug target implications.

Abstract
InAsSb nanowires (NWs) with a high Sb content have potential in the fabrication of advanced silicon-based optoelectronics such as infrared photondetectors/emitters and highly sensitive phototransistors, as well as in the generation of renewable electricity. However, producing optically efficient InAsSb NWs with a high Sb content remains a challenge, and optical emission is limited to 4.0 μm due to the quality of the nanowires. Here, we report, for the first time, the success of high-quality and optically efficient InAsSb NWs enabling silicon-based optoelectronics operating in entirely mid-wavelength infrared. Pure zinc-blende InAsSb NWs were realized with efficient photoluminescence emission. We obtained room-temperature photoluminescence emission in InAs NWs and successfully extended the emission wavelength in InAsSb NWs to 5.1 μm. The realization of this optically efficient InAsSb NW material paves the way to realizing next-generation devices, combining advances in III-V semiconductors and silicon.

Abstract
Abstract
Background. We previously reported an alternative ESR1 somatic gain-of-function chromosomal translocation event in a patient presenting with aggressive, endocrine therapy resistant estrogen receptor (ER) positive disease, producing an in-frame fusion gene consisting of N-terminal ESR1 and the C-terminus of the Hippo pathway coactivator YAP1 (ESR1-YAP1). We recently identified another ESR1 fusion through RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) in advanced stage ER+ disease from a chest wall recurrence in a male patient that was refractory to multiple lines of treatment. Two examples of fusions discovered in primary breast cancer samples include ESR1 fused in-frame to C-terminal sequences from NOP2 (ESR1-NOP2), identified in a resistant cohort from a RNA-seq screen focused on 81 primary breast cancers from aromatase inhibitor clinical trials, and a second ESR1 fusion, fused in-frame to the entire coding sequence of POLH (ESR1-POLH), that was identified from RNA-seq analysis of 728 Cancer Genome Atlas breast samples. This current study extends our previous characterization of ESR1-YAP1 by comparing functional and pharmacological properties of these three additional ESR1 gene fusion events of both early stage and advanced breast cancers.
Methods. In vitro and in vivo experiments were conducted to test ESR1 fusions to induce therapeutic resistance, and metastasis. The transcriptional and binding properties of each fusion was also examined. Pharmacological inhibition with Palbociclib, a cyclin-dependent kinase 4/6 inhibitor, was utilized to assess drug sensitivity in ESR1 fusion containing breast cancer cells and in a patient derived xenograft (PDX) model expressing ESR1-YAP1 (WHIM18).
Results. The YAP1 and PCDH11x fusions conferred estrogen-independent and fulvestrant-resistant growth. Immunohistochemistry revealed significantly higher numbers of ER+ cells in lungs of mice xenografted with T47D cells expressing the YAP1 and PCDH11x fusions compared to YFP control, NOP2 and POLH fusions. Results from ChIP-seq and microarray studies suggest that these two fusions promote proliferation and metastasis through genomic action by binding estrogen response elements (ERE) and subsequent gene activation. We thereby define these fusions as “canonical” fusions compared to “non-canonical” NOP2 and POLH fusions, which demonstrated dramatically decreased genomic binding ability. The non-canonical fusions induced genes associated with basal-like breast cancer and promoted HER2, EGFR, and MAPK gene expression signatures in contrast to genes associated with cell cycle/proliferation induced by canonical fusions. The proliferative ability of canonical fusion-containing ER+ cells was inhibited by Palbociclib in a dose-dependent manner. In vivo WHIM18 tumors in mice fed with Palbociclib-containing chow demonstrated significantly reduced tumor volume, growth rate, and weight compared to tumors in mice on control chow.
Conclusions. In-frame ERE activating canonical fusions occur in end-stage drug resistant advanced breast cancer and can be added to ESR1 point mutations as a class of recurrent somatic mutation that may cause acquired resistance. Growth induced by these fusions can be antagonized by Palbociclib and is potentially clinically helpful.

Abstract
Abstract
Metastases are responsible for the vast majority of deaths due to breast cancer. Triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) is an aggressive subtype of breast cancer characterized by high rates of metastasis and poor response to chemotherapy. We are using patient derived xenograft (PDX) models of TNBC to identify drivers of TNBC metastasis. Using these models, we demonstrated that human breast tumors are capable of completing all stages of the metastatic cascade in mice, and metastatic lesions are observed in organs normally found in patients with metastatic breast cancer including lung, liver, bone, brain and lymph nodes. Lentiviral transduction was employed to express both bioluminescent and fluorescent proteins in three distinct PDX models of TNBC. In this way, metastatic lesions can be isolated using bioluminescent imaging and circulating tumor cells (CTCs) are isolated by flow cytometry. A lung metastasis gene expression signature was generated and comprehensive gain-of-function screens are being conducted in vivo to validate this signature and identify functional drivers of TNBC metastasis.

Abstract
The present study was designed to identify key genes or significant signaling pathways associated with spinal cord injury (SCI), and to clarify the underlying molecular mechanisms of SCI. Data from the GSE45550 array were downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus database. A total of 6 control samples, 6 samples at 3 days post‑SCI (SCI3d), 6 samples at 8 days post‑SCI (SCI8d) and 6 samples at 14 days post‑SCI (SCI14d) were included. The microarray data was preprocessed by the robust multi‑array average algorithm. The differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified using the limma package. The overlapping DEGs among groups were analyzed using the Venny 2.0 online tool. Modules enriched by DEGs were selected by weighted gene co‑expression network analysis. Gene Ontology annotation and the Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes pathways were identified for DEGs using the Database for Annotation, Visualization and Integrated Discovery. A total of 693 genes were obtained by combining the DEGs of the SCI3d, SCI8d and SCI14d groups. The pink module and green module with smaller P‑values obtained from weighted gene co‑expression network analysis module analyses of DEGs demonstrated a higher correlation with SCI. In addition, the peroxisome proliferator‑activated receptor (PPAR) signaling pathway that the cluster of differentiation 36 (CD36) was significantly enriched in, was one of the significant pathways in the pink module. The p53 signaling pathway that Caspase‑3 (Casp3) was significantly enriched in was one of the significant pathways in the green module. In conclusion, the results of the present study demonstrated that the PPAR and p53 signaling pathway may serve important roles in the progression of SCI. In addition, CD36 and Casp3 may be involved in the progression of SCI via the PPAR and p53 signaling pathways, respectively.

Abstract
PURPOSE Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are outstanding as novel cancer biomarkers with great prospects. Herein, we focused on summarizing the overall diagnostic evaluation of lncRNAs for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). METHODS Relevant literature was collected from the online databases. The Quality Assessment for Studies of Diagnostic Accuracy checklist was used to assess the quality of included studies. The pooled sensitivity, specificity, and diagnostic odds ratio (DOR) were plotted using random-effects models. Summary receiver operating characteristic curve and the area under the curve (AUC) were used to estimate the overall test performance. Statistical analysis was performed by STATA 14.0 and Meta-DiSc 1.4 software. RESULTS Ten studies with a total of 820 HCC patients and 785 healthy controls were included. For overall lncRNAs, the pooled sensitivity, specificity, and DOR to predict HCC patients were 80% [95% confidence interval (CI) 77-82%], 79% (95% CI 76-81%), and 27.66 (95% CI 14.26-53.63), respectively, corresponding to an AUC of 0.91. CONCLUSIONS LncRNAs were a high diagnostic value for HCC and its expression could potentially be used as auxiliary biomarker in confirming HCC.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The Rana dybowskii distribute in northeast region of China which have seasonally cold climates. During winter they survival freezing by biosynthesizing carbohydrate cryoprotectants such as high concentrations glucose into blood and all tissues. The essential role of glucose transporter 4 is a high-affinity glucose transporter, which can increase glucose uptake in cells when it stimulated by insulin. OBJECTIVE In this study, we analysis the full-length GLUT4 mRNA detect the gene levels of GLUT4 in R. dybowskii main tissues by qPCR during low temperature. RESULTS We found in heart, fat body, skeletal muscle and skin four tissues all express GLUT4, and the levels of GLUT4 decreased on initial cold exposure stage, 8~12 hours, followed 24 hours it recovered. CONCLUSION This study we firstly indentified and characterized GLUT4 in amphibious, and provide a novel insight into the role of GLUT4 in cryoprotectant synthesis and cell protection in cold hardiness amphibians.

Abstract
Objective: To explore the effects of transthyretin (TTR) on biological behavior of retinal pigment epithelial cells (RPECs) and retinal microvascular epithelial cells (RMVECs). Methods: RPECs were cultured with exogenous TTR to explore the effect of TTR on the proliferation of RPECs. The expression of TTR of RPECs was silenced by TTR specific small interfering RNA and the expression of TTR was detected by using Western blotting to identify the efficacy of TTR silence. The level of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) massage RNA was detected by using RT-PCR to identify the interaction between VEGF and TTR. The different proliferation and migration abilities of RMVECs with different expressions of TTR were measured by transwell system. Results: MTT assay showed that RPECs with 0 μmol/L TTR glowed faster than with 4 μmol/L TTR (t=18.08, P<0.0001). The expression level of TTR was decreased in the small interfering RNA group as compared with the negative control group (P<0.05). RT-PCR assay showed no differential expression of VEGF after the silencing of TTR (P>0.05). The transwell assay showed RMVECs with the silence of TTR proliferated more slowly than RMVECs without the treatment (t=4.901, P=0.0012), and also migrated more slowly (t=4.213, P=0.0029). Conclusions: TTR can inhibit the proliferation of RPECs and promote the proliferation and migration of RMVECs without the help of VEGF, the mechanism of which may be worth further study. Abstract
Ascites is a common clinical manifestation of cirrhotic portal hypertension, and about 60%-80% of cirrhotic patients develop the symptom of ascites within 10 years. Once ascites occurs, the 5-year survival rate is reduced from 80% to 50%. With the progression of liver diseases, approximately 5%-10% of patients with ascites develop refractory ascites, and the median survival time is only 6-12 months. This article reviews the definition and diagnosis of refractory ascites, evaluation of prognostic factors, and treatment regimens, including large-volume paracentesis combined with protein supplementation, transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt, and liver transplantation.

Abstract
Objective To investigate the diagnosis and surgical treatment strategies of intravenous leiomyomatosis(IVL)extending through inferior vena cava into the right cardiac cavities. Methods Thirty patients of IVL extending through inferior vena cava into the right cardiac cavities were treated in Peking Union Medical College Hospital from November 2002 to January 2015.The following variables were studied: age,cardiopulmonary bypass time,deep hypothermic circulatory arrest time,origins of IVL,blood loss,duration of post-operative hospital stay,hospitalization expenses,edema of lower extremity,blood transfusion,postoperative complication,residual IVL,and re-grow or recurrence. Results Thirteen of 30 patients reported double lower limb edema. The cardiopulmonary bypass was applied in 27 cases,and the average duration of cardiopulmonary bypass was(106.9±53.7)min. Then,21 patients were treated with the deep hypothermic circulatory arrest,and the mean time was(28.2±11.6) min. The tumors originated from the genital veins in 9 cases,the iliac vein in 13 cases,and both veins in 8 cases. The average intra-operative blood loss volume was (2060.5±2012.3)ml,and 21 patients received blood transfusion. The average hospitalization time was(18.9±8.3)days and the average hospitalization expenses was (80 840.4±28 264.2)RMB yuan. While 14 patients had postoperative complications,there was no serious postoperative complication or death.All patients have shown a favorable outcome.Conclusions Tumor embolus extending through inferior vena cava into the right cardiac cavities should be suspected in patients with multiple hysteromyoma. Successful therapy for IVL with right cardiac cavities extension is dependent on reasonable surgical treatment strategies. Surgical removal of the ovaries is vital to avoid IVL re-grow or recurrence.

Abstract
Intravenous leiomyomatosis (IVL) is a rare benign tumor. The study aimed to assess outcomes of patients treated surgically for IVL.Between November 2002 and January 2015, 76 patients were treated for IVL. The stage of IVL was evaluated preoperatively by echocardiography and enhanced computerized tomography (CT) scan, and graded into 4 stages according to intravascular tumor progression. We recorded age, lower limb edema before surgery, surgical parameters, and hospitalization expenses. Patients were followed up every 6 months and tumor recurrence was assessed by CT and ultrasound. Patients were followed up for a mean of 4.5 ± 2.5 years (range 1-13 years) and there was no operative, hospital, or long-term mortality or were lost to follow-up.The rate of lower extremity edema, amount of blood loss, postoperative transfusion, length of intensive care unit (ICU) stay, postoperative hospitalization, and hospitalization expenses differed significantly between patients at different presurgery stages. Tumors recurred in 4 of 7 patients with stage I IVL that opted for surgery that preserved the ovaries and uterus. No recurrence was observed in patients graded stage II or more, in all of which the uterus and ovaries were removed. Recurrence was observed in only 4 of 76 cases of IVL, all of whom opted for surgery that spared the ovaries and uterus.Different surgical strategies should be decided based on the staging to completely remove the tumor and ensure the safety of patients. Removal of both ovaries is necessary for inhibiting tumor growth and avoiding recurrence.
