Abstract
BACKGROUND AND AIM Lymph node involvement is the strongest prognostic factor for patients with gastric cancer; patients with node-negative gastric cancer present with better survival. However, some patients develop recurrent gastric cancer. The aim of this study was to review the clinicopathological characteristics and factors for prognosis in patients with node-negative gastric cancer who underwent curative resection. METHODS Between January 2004 and December 2015, the clinicopathological characteristics of 302 patients with node-negative gastric cancer who underwent curative gastrectomy in our hospital were retrospectively analyzed. RESULTS The 1-, 3-, and 5-year overall survival rates for patients with node-negative gastric cancer were 80.0%, 69.0%, and 63.0%, respectively. Univariate analysis showed that tumor size, histologic type, and depth of invasion had significant effects on survival (p < 0.05). Multivariate analysis showed that tumor size (hazard ratio: 1.83%, 95.0% confidence interval: 1.13-2.96, p = 0.014), histologic type (hazard ratio: 1.57%, 95.0% confidence interval: 1.01-2.44, p = 0.042), and depth of invasion (hazard ratio: 1.38%, 95.0% confidence interval: 1.14-1.67, p = 0.001) were independent prognostic factors. CONCLUSION Tumor size, histologic type, and depth of invasion are important prognostic factors in patients with node-negative gastric cancer. These parameters should be considered to stratify patients for therapy and follow-up strategies.

Abstract
Abstract
Background: Treatment options for bone-dominant metastatic breast cancer (MBC) are limited. Radium-223, a first-in-class α emitter with a targeted antitumor effect on bone metastases (mets), was well tolerated and reduced bone biomarker levels in a phase 2 study in patients with bone-dominant MBC (Coleman et al. Breast Cancer Res Treat. 2014). In patients with HER2- estrogen receptor+ (ER+) bone-dominant MBC, everolimus + exemestane (EVE+EXE) improved progression-free survival (PFS) versus EXE alone. Radium-223 combined with EVE+EXE may improve outcomes in patients with HER2- ER+ bone-dominant MBC; this trial will evaluate efficacy and safety of radium-223 versus placebo in these patients (NCT02258451).
Trial design: Patients are randomized to receive (1:1) radium-223 (50 kBq/kg [55 kBq/kg after National Institute of Standards and Technology update] IV) or placebo × 6 cycles q 4 wk + EXE (25 mg PO q d) + EVE (10 mg PO q d) plus best supportive care. EXE+EVE continues until disease progression or unacceptable toxicity. Stratification is by geographic region (EU/N America vs Asia), prior hormone therapy (1 vs ≥ 2), and presence of visceral disease (yes vs no).
Eligibility criteria: Eligible patients are pre- or postmenopausal with HER2- ER+ MBC and have ≥ 2 bone mets or have soft tissue and/or visceral mets. Patients must have measurable disease per RECIST v1.1, ≥ 1 prior line of hormone therapy for MBC, and 1-2 prior skeletal-related events; be on bisphosphonates or denosumab; and have an ECOG score of 0-1. Patients must have had no past or current need for chemotherapy for MBC, no unresolved spinal cord compression, and no prior EVE treatment.
Specific aims: The primary end point is symptomatic skeletal event–free survival (SSE-FS). Secondary end points are overall survival; times to opiate use, pain progression, and cytotoxic chemotherapy; radiologic PFS; and safety. Safety and efficacy are assessed every 4 weeks. Long-term safety is assessed until study termination.
Statistical methods: Assuming a 1-sided α of 0.1, 90% power, ∼ 160 SSE-FS events will be required for the analysis. Efficacy will be analyzed by a stratified log-rank test. Safety analysis will be descriptive.
Present and target accrual: Estimated enrollment is ∼ 311 patients. Currently, 74 patients are randomized.

Abstract
This paper describes an algorithm for generating a planar image that when tilted provides stereo cues to slant, without contamination from pictorial gradients. As the stimuli derived from this image are ultimately intended for use in studies of slant perception under magnification, a further requirement is that the generated image be suitable for high-definition printing or display on a monitor. A first stage generates an image consisting of overlapping edges with sufficient density that when zoomed, edges that nearly span the original scale are replaced with newly emergent content that leaves the visible edge statistics unchanged. A second stage reduces intensity clumping while preserving edges by enforcing a broad dynamic range across the image. Spectral analyses demonstrate that the low-frequency content of the resulting image, which would correspond to the pictorial cue of texture gradient changes under slant, (a) has a power fall-off deviating from 1/f noise (to which the visual system is particularly sensitive), and (b) does not offer systematic cues under changes in scale or slant. Two behavioral experiments tested whether the algorithm generates stimuli that offer cues to slant under stereo viewing only, and not when disparities are eliminated. With a particular adjustment of dynamic range (and nearly so with the other version that was tested), participants viewing without stereo cues were essentially unable to discriminate slanted from flat (frontal) stimuli, and when slant was reported, they failed to discriminate its direction. In contrast, non-stereo viewing of a control stimulus with pictorial cues, as well as stereoscopic observation, consistently allowed participants to perceive slant correctly. Experiment 2 further showed that these results generalized across a population of different stimuli from the same generation process and demonstrated that the process did not substitute biased slant cues.

Abstract
It is well known that the odorant-binding proteins (OBPs) play crucial roles in insect olfactory detection. To explore if interactions of OBPs affect olfactory coding in the rice leaffolder Cnaphalocrocis medinalis ligand-binding experiments, molecular docking, RNA interference and electrophysiological recording were performed. The binding activity of two C. medinalis OBPs (CmedOBPs) to rice plant volatiles showed wide flexibility depending on the structure of ligands and interactions of CmedOBPs involved. The binding sites of CmedOBP2 and CmedOBP3 to rice plant volatiles were well predicted by three-dimensional structure modelling and molecular docking experiments. In addition, the interactions of these two CmedOBPs in the perception of rice volatiles were demonstrated by RNA interference experiments. When a single double-stranded RNA (dsRNA)-CmedOBP2 was injected, the expression of CmedOBP2 was significantly reduced and the expression of CmedOBP3 was significantly increased, and vice versa. When both dsRNA-CmedOBP2 and 3 were injected together, greater reduction of electroantennogram responses to rice plant volatiles was induced than that seen with individual injection of either dsRNA-CmedOBP2 or dsRNA-CmedOBP3. These results clearly indicate that the interactions of CmedOBP2 and CmedOBP3 have significant effects on C. medinalis during the detection of host plant volatiles.

Abstract
Pheromone-binding proteins (PBPs) are believed to be involved in the recognition of semiochemicals. In the present study, western blot analysis, fluorescence-binding characteristics and immunolocalization of CmedPBP4 from the rice leaffolder, Cnaphalocrocis medinalis, were investigated. Western blot analysis revealed that CmedPBP4 showed obvious antenna-specific expression patterns in female and male antenna, and made a clearly different sex-biased expression. Immunocytochemical labeling revealed that CmedPBP4 showed specific expression in the trichoid sensilla. Competitive fluorescence binding assays indicated that CmedPBP4 could selectively recognize three sex pheromone components (Z13-18:Ac, Z11-16:Al and Z13-18:OH) and eleven rice plant volatiles, including cyclohexanol, nerolidol, cedrol, dodecanal, ionone, (-)-α-cedrene, (Z)-farnesene, β-myrcene, R-(+)-limonene, (-)-limonene, and (+)-3-carene. Meanwhile the CmedPBP4 detection of sex pheromones and host odorants was pH-dependent. Our results, for the first time, provide further evidence that trichoid sensilla might be play an important role in detecting sex pheromones and host plant volatiles in the C. medinalis moth. Our systematic studies provided further detailed evidence for the function of trichoid sensilla in insect semiochemical perception.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Anorexia nervosa (AN) and body dysmorphic disorder (BDD) frequently co-occur, and have several overlapping phenomenological features. Little is known about their shared neurobiology. The aim of the study was to compare modular organization of brain structural connectivity. METHOD We acquired diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging data on unmedicated individuals with BDD (n = 29), weight-restored AN (n = 24) and healthy controls (HC) (n = 31). We constructed connectivity matrices using whole-brain white matter tractography, and compared modular structures across groups. RESULTS AN showed abnormal modularity involving frontal, basal ganglia and posterior cingulate nodes. There was a trend in BDD for similar abnormalities, but no significant differences compared with AN. In AN, poor insight correlated with longer path length in right caudal anterior cingulate and right posterior cingulate. CONCLUSIONS Abnormal network organization patterns in AN, partially shared with BDD, may have implications for understanding integration between reward and habit/ritual formation, as well as conflict monitoring/error detection.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Once-weekly glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs) have shown promising results in the treatment of type 2 diabetes. Herein, we compared the efficacy and safety of once-weekly GLP-1RAs with exenatide and liraglutide separately. METHODS We systematically surveyed the pertinent literature using various databases. The randomised controlled trials that compared once-weekly GLP-1RAs with exenatide and liraglutide in type 2 diabetes were included. Our main end-points were control of glycaemia, body weight, hypoglycaemia and gastrointestinal adverse events (AEs). RESULTS Our analysis included eight trials involving 5531 patients. Exenatide-long-acting release (LAR), dulaglutide and taspoglutide were more effective than twice-daily exenatide in reducing glycosylated haemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) and fasting blood glucose (FBG) levels and achieving HbA1c targets (< 7.0% and ≤ 6.5%). Liraglutide was as effective as dulaglutide and more effective than exenatide-LAR and albiglutide in controlling glycaemia. With regard to the effectiveness in decreasing body weight, exenatide-LAR, dulaglutide and taspoglutide were similar to exenatide whereas exenatide-LAR, dulaglutide and albiglutide were inferior to liraglutide. Once-weekly GLP-1RAs, exenatide and liraglutide resulted in a similar incidence of hypoglycaemia and of gastrointestinal, serious, or other AEs. CONCLUSIONS Once-weekly GLP-1RAs were more effective in controlling glycaemia and equally effective in decreasing body weight than twice-daily exenatide but were inferior to liraglutide in controlling these two parameters (dulaglutide was similar with liraglutide in controlling glycaemia). Once-weekly GLP-1RAs, exenatide and liraglutide had a similar risk of causing AEs.

Abstract
This study was designed to investigate and compare the HPV prevalence, genotypes distribution and associated risk factors in rural and urban women living in Xishuang Banna district, in the province of Yunnan. A total of 177 and 190 women from rural and urban areas were engaged, respectively. HPV DNA was amplified using the L1 consensus primers system (MY09/11 and GP5/6) and HPV GenoArray test was conducted for genotyping. Proportions were compared by chi-square test, and logistic regression was used to evaluate risk factors. A total of 54 women were positive for HPV DNA. Among rural women, 23 women were positive for HPV infection, of which 21 showed a single infection and 2 had a multiple infection. HPV-16 (10/23) was the most prevalent genotype followed by HPV-52 (5/23), and HPV-58 (5/23). Urban women had a higher infection rate for overall HPV (31/54) and for multiple genotype infection (8/31). HPV-52 (9/31) was the most prevalent genotype followed by HPV-39 (7/31) and HPV-68 (5/31). The age-specific HPV prevalence was also different between rural and urban women. In urban area, women with age <35 years had the highest HPV prevalence, which declined thereafter as age advanced. However, in rural women the highest HPV prevalence was observed in an older age group (>56 years). Ethnicity, smoking and parity were significantly associated with HPV infection among urban women. Our study demonstrates that HPV prevalence and genotype distribution varies among women from rural and urban areas in the south of Yunnan.

Abstract
AIMS To investigate the erythromycin resistance patterns and mechanism for Campylobacter isolates in China. METHODS AND RESULTS The minimum inhibitory concentrations of erythromycin on 858 Chinese Campylobacter isolates were analysed. PCR and DNA sequencing were used to identify mutations in the 23S rRNA and the presence of the ermB gene in the 158 erythromycin resistance isolates (18·4%). About 83% (131/158) had A2075G mutation in their 23S rRNA; no A2074C/G mutants were found. The ermB gene was identified in 30 Campylobacter coli isolates (19%). Four types of multidrug-resistant gene islands (MDRGIs) were found. Fifty-three types were identified by multilocus sequence typing among the resistant isolates. All isolates of STs 6322 and 1145 had the ermB gene. CONCLUSIONS The erythromycin resistance rate of Camp. coli (58·56%) was much higher than Campylobacter jejuni (0·67%). The insertion sites between cadF and CCO1582 and between nfsB and cinA on the chromosome might be hot spots for MDRGI transformation. SIGNIFICANCE AND IMPACT OF THE STUDY Point mutation in domain V of the 23S rRNA and the ermB gene accounted for 100% of the erythromycin resistance of Campylobacter in China.

Abstract
Previous studies suggest that prolactin receptor (Prlr) is a potential causative gene for chicken early- (EF) and late-feathering (LF) phenotypes. In this study, we evaluated candidate genes for this trait and determined the expression of 3 genes, including Prlr, sperm flagellar protein 2 (Spef2), and their fusion gene, in the skins of one-day-old EF and LF chicks using RT-qPCR. Data indicated that Prlr expression in the skin did not show significant difference between EF and LF chicks, suggesting Prlr may not be a suitable candidate gene. In contrast, Spef2 expression in the skin displayed a significant difference between EF and LF chicks (P < 0.01), suggesting that Spef2 may be a good candidate gene for chicken feathering. Moreover, dPrlr/dSpef2, the fusion gene, was also a good candidate gene as it was expressed only in LF chicks. However, the expression of the fusion gene was much lower than that of Prlr Additionally, using strand-specific primers, we found that the fusion gene was transcribed in 2 directions (one from dPrlr promoter, another from dSpef2 promoter), which could result in the formation of a double strand RNA. In conclusion, both Spef2 and the fusion gene are good candidate genes for chicken feathering, but Prlr is not. Abstract
We report a case of primary renal allograft dysfunction and early acute cell-mediated rejection after a 12/12 HLA antigen zero-mismatch (0MM) transplant. The recipient was a 40-year-old white man who was highly allosensitized, with a calculated panel reactive antibody score of 100%. In posteroperative day 1 the recipient remained anuric and underwent dialysis because of hyperkalemia. Graft biopsy showed early acute cellular rejection, Banff grade 2B. No evidence of antibody-mediated rejection was observed. To our knowledge, this case is the 1st to report early cell-mediated rejection after 12/12 HLA antigen 0MM kidney transplantation. This case suggests that highly sensitized candidates are at high immunologic risk even in the context of 0MM kidney transplantation.

Abstract
Successful spin injection into graphene makes it a competitive contender in the race to become a key material for quantum computation, or the spin-operation-based data processing and sensing. Engineering ferromagnetic metal (FM)/graphene heterojunctions is one of the most promising avenues to realise it, however, their interface magnetism remains an open question up to this day. In any proposed FM/graphene spintronic devices, the best opportunity for spin transport could only be achieved where no magnetic dead layer exists at the FM/graphene interface. Here we present a comprehensive study of the epitaxial Fe/graphene interface by means of X-ray magnetic circular dichroism (XMCD) and density functional theory (DFT) calculations. The experiment has been performed using a specially designed FM1/FM2/graphene structure that to a large extent restores the realistic case of the proposed graphene-based transistors. We have quantitatively observed a reduced but still sizable magnetic moments of the epitaxial Fe ML on graphene, which is well resembled by simulations and can be attributed to the strong hybridization between the Fe 3dz2 and the C 2pz orbitals and the sp-orbital-like behavior of the Fe 3d electrons due to the presence of graphene.
