Abstract
The local environment of a metal active site plays an important role in affecting the catalytic activity and selectivity. In recent studies, tailoring the behavior of a molybdenum-based active site via modulation of the first coordination sphere has led to improved thioanisole oxidation performance, but disentangling electronic effects from steric influences that arise from these modifications is nontrivial, especially in heterogeneous systems. To this end, the tunability of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) makes them promising scaffolds for controlling the coordination sphere of a heterogeneous, catalytically active metal site while offering additional attractive features such as crystallinity and high porosity. Herein, we report a variety of MOF-supported Mo species, which were investigated for catalytic thioanisole oxidation to methyl phenyl sulfoxide and/or methyl phenyl sulfone using tert-butyl hydroperoxide (tBHP) as the oxidant. In particular, MOFs of contrasting node architectures were targeted, presenting a unique opportunity to investigate the stereoelectronic control of Mo active sites in a systematic manner. A Zr6-based MOF, NU-1000, was employed along with its sulfated analogue Zr6-based NU-1000-SO4 to anchor a dioxomolybdenum species, which enabled examination of support-mediated active site polarizability on catalytic performance. In addition, a MOF containing a mixed metal node, Mo-MFU-4l, was used to probe the stereoelectronic impact of an N-donor ligand environment on the catalytic activity of the transmetalated Mo center. Characterization techniques, including single crystal X-ray diffraction, were concomitantly used with reaction time course profiles to better comprehend the dynamics of different Mo active sites, thus correlating structural change with activity.

Abstract
Polyhydroquinolines were efficiently obtained from a sequential four-component reaction between dimedone or 1,3-cyclohexandione, ethyl acetoacetate, or methyl acetoacetate as a β-ketoester, aldehydes, and ammonium acetate, under the catalysis of Mo@GAA-Fe3O4 MNPs as a green, effective, recyclable, and environmentally friendly nanocatalyst. Due to its magnetic nature the prepared catalyst can be easily separated from the reaction mixture by an external magnet and reused several times without significant changes in catalytic activity and reaction efficiency. The catalyst was characterized using energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM).

Abstract
We report a new mononuclear molybdenum(iv) complex, MoOLBISLSQ, in which LSQ (2,4-di-tert-butyl o-semibenzoquinone ligand) has been prepared from the reaction of the o-iminosemibenzoquinone form of a tridentate non-innocent benzoxazole ligand, LBIS, and MoO2(acac)2. The complex was characterized by X-ray crystallography, elemental analysis, IR and UV-vis spectroscopy and magnetic susceptibility measurements. The crystal structure of MoOLBISLSQ revealed a distorted octahedral geometry around the metal centre, surrounded by one O and two N atoms of LBIS and two O atoms of LSQ. The effective magnetic moment (μ eff) of MoOLBISLSQ decreased from 2.36 to 0.2 μB in the temperature range of 290 to 2 K, indicating a singlet ground state caused by antiferromagnetic coupling between the metal and ligand centred unpaired electrons. Also, the latter led to the EPR silence of the complex. Cyclic voltammetry (CV) studies indicate both ligand and metal-centered redox processes. MoOLBISLSQ was applied as a catalyst for the oxidative cleavage of cyclohexene to adipic acid and selective oxidation of sulfides to sulfones with aqueous hydrogen peroxide.

Abstract
Sulfoxides are key scaffolds in the synthesis of pharmaceutically active molecules. A large
number of sulfoxides are indispensable ingredients in the structure of most antibiotics, biological and
natural products such as Modafinil, Adrafinil, CRL-40,941 or fladrafinil, Fipronil, Oxydemetonmethyl,
Omeprazole, Pantoprazole, Lansoprazole and Rabeprazole. The oxidation of sulfides is the
most common and efficient strategy for the preparation of sulfoxides. Recently, many protocols
based on using transition metals have been reported for the oxidation of sulfides to the sulfoxides. In
this paper, we summarized a nice category of the reported protocols in the literature for the oxidation
of sulfides to sulfoxides.

Abstract
A nanometric carbon CMK-3 modified with octylimidazolium ionic liquid and MoO42- as a new hybrid catalyst was synthesized. The study is the first to report a successful immobilization of MoO4= on the CMK-3/OctIm as a hybrid nanocatalyst. A variety of analytical methods were utilized to determine the properties of the structure and morphology of the synthesized nanocatalyst [CMK-3/Im/MoO42-]. The analytical techniques were transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscope (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), inductively coupled plasma (ICP), X-ray diffraction (XRD), N2 isotherms (BET), IR spectroscopy and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). CMK-3/OctIm/MoO42- hybrid catalyst demonstrated a considerable catalytic activity. It is a recyclable nanocatalyst that is utilized to chemoselectively oxidize different types of sulfides to the corresponding sulfoxides and benzylic alcohols to aldehydes using the green oxidant, hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) in high-yields. With a little leaching and variation in activity, it is possible to recover and reuse the catalyst frequently. A combination of molybdate anion and the CMK-3 order mesoporous carbon resulted in an improvement in the performance of catalysis and ease of separation for the reaction procedure.

Abstract
Molybdenum complexes are versatile and efficient for liquid phase olefin epoxidation reactions. Rational design of catalysts is critical to achieve high atom efficiency during epoxidation processes. Although liquid phase epoxidation has been a popular topic for decades, three key issues, (a) rational control of morphology of molybdenum nanoparticles, (b) manipulating metal-support interaction and (c) altering electronic configuration at molybdenum center remains unsolved in this area. Therefore, in this paper, we have critically revised recent research progress on heterogeneous molybdenum catalysts for facile liquid phase olefin epoxidation in terms of catalyst synthesis, surface characterization, catalytic performance and structure-function relationship. Furthermore, plausible reaction mechanisms will be systematically discussed with the aim to provide insights into fundamental understanding on novel epoxidation chemistry.

Abstract
A neutral bidentate ligand 2-(3-methyl-5-phenyl pyrazol-1-yl) benzthiazole (L) has been synthesized by refluxing equimolar proportions of 2-hydrazino benzthiazole and benzoyl acetone in ethanol. The ligand acts in a NN donor fashion and forms stable mononuclear, MoOX3L [L = Ligand, X = Cl (1), Br (2)] and binuclear Mo2O4X2L2 [L = Ligand, X = Cl (3), Br (4)] complexes with molybdenum(V). The ligand and complexes are thoroughly characterized by elemental analyses, IR, UV-Vis spectroscopy, EPR study, magnetic susceptibility, thermogravimetry and cyclic voltammetry. Magnetic moment measurements reveal that the mononuclear complexes are paramagnetic while the binuclear complexes are diamagnetic in nature. EPR studies also confirm the presence of a mononuclear Mo(V) moiety in the complexes. Relevant Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculations have been carried out to determine the structures of the synthesized compounds. The binding mode and mechanism of interaction of the synthesized compounds with bovine serum albumin (BSA) were studied by concentration dependent absorption and fluorescence titration experiments. The ligand and complexes 1-4 are screened for their potential in vitro anticancer activities against three different human cancer cell lines, namely, cervix adenocarcinoma epithelial cells (HeLa), renal carcinoma cells (SK-RC-45) and breast adenocarcinoma cells (MCF-7). The oxomolybdenum(V) complexes are found to exhibit higher anticancer potency towards the cancer cells than the free ligand. Also, structure activity relationship (SAR) studies of this new series of oxomolybdenum(V) complexes indicate that the anticancer activity is to some extent dependent on the electronic effects of the halogen atom coordinated to the molybdenum centre.

Abstract
Three molybdenum(VI) cis-dioxo catalysts (8-10) were synthesized with the goal of developing stable and selective oxidation catalysts for sulfoxidation. Their reactivities were investigated with a variety of substrates. We have demonstrated the usefulness of these catalysts for the chemoselective sulfoxidation of sulfides in the presence of reactive moieties, which has important applications for total synthesis processes. Notably, these catalysts are able to oxidize compounds analogous to sulfur mustard and can be used as an alternative to sodium periodate or meta-chloroperoxybenzoic acid (m-CPBA) for the oxidation of various organic sulfides without sacrificing total conversion. As the catalysts are tolerant of water and hydrogen peroxide, they allow for the design of completely green oxidation reactions, particularly for sulfur-containing amino acids.
