Abstract
Chiral recognition and separation studies are of paramount importance in research in view of their applications in asymmetric catalysis and substrate recognition in biological processes. The efficiencies of these processes are governed by the subtle differences in noncovalent interactions between the host and guest molecules. Hexakis(organoamino)phosphazenes are versatile building blocks for host-guest chemistry for their ability to act as both the donor and the acceptor of H-bonds. Herein, we report an enantiomeric pair of cyclotriphosphazenes [P3N3(NHR*)6], [R* = (R)-(CH(CH3)Ph)] (1-R) and [(S)-(CH(CH3)Ph)] (1-S), with chiral α-methylbenzylamino substituents. The chiral recognition capabilities of its R-enantiomer were further probed for several chiral organic compounds containing a range of functional groups. Among these, a remarkable guest selectivity (ξ) value of 2506 was observed for binol (BOL) in favor of its R-enantiomer. DFT-optimized structures of the host-guest pairs suggest that the multiple noncovalent interactions between the molecules in the two unique types of binding sites at the phosphazenes play a crucial role in the observed high binding selectivities.

Abstract
The reactions of monospirocyclotriphosphazenes (1 and 2) with N-methyl-1,3-diaminopropane gave unsymmetrical cis-(3 and 5) and trans-(4 and 6) dispirocyclotriphosphazenes. Trans-cis-trans (tct) (7 and 11), cis-cis-cis (ccc) (8 and 12), trans-trans-cis (ttc) (9 and 13), and cis-trans-trans (ctt) (14) trispirocyclotriphosphazenes were obtained from the reactions of 3 and 5 and 4 and 6 with N-methyl-1,3-diaminopropane. cis-Dispirocyclotriphosphazenes (3 and 5) exist as "pseudomesoracemates", while trans-dispirocyclotriphosphazenes (4 and 6) are in "racemates". The existences of cis-3 and trans-4 as "pseudomesoracemate" and "racemate" were confirmed by 31P NMR spectra recorded by the addition of "chiral solvating agent (CSA)". X-ray crystallography proved that the absolute configurations of each enantiomer of cis-5 and trans-6 are SS' and RS'. Trispirocyclotriphosphazenes tct, ttc, ccc, and ctt exist as racemates, pseudomesoracemate, and meso forms. Furthermore, Hirshfeld surface analysis of the crystal structures of cis-5 and trans-6 revealed that the most significant contribution to crystal packing comes from H···H (58.2 and 57.6%, respectively). An oxidation-reduction wave was detected in the reversible cyclic voltammograms of the phosphazenes. The highest power conversion efficiency in dye-sensitized solar cell studies was obtained with cis-5. Additionally, trans-6 exhibited the lowest minimal inhibitory concentration value (78.1 μM) against Candida tropicalis, and it was observed to cleave pBR322 plasmid DNA.

Single Molecular Persistent Room-Temperature Phosphorescence and Circularly Polarized Luminescence from Binaphthol-Decorated Optically Innocent Cyclotriphosphazenes. Chemistry 2023; 29:e202301924. Abstract
Circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) features of BINOL-decorated cyclotriphosphazenes (CPs) are reported for the first time. The luminescence dissymmetry factor (glum ) of these compounds in chloroform solutions and polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) thin films with wt 1 % doping concentrations are found to be 1.0×10-3 , and 2.9×10-3 , respectively. However, no CPL signal is observed for the pristine solids. The enantiomers (CP-(R)/CP-(S)) show ultraviolet photoluminescence (~350-360 nm) in solution and the solid state. These compounds show ~10 times larger absolute photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) than the simple BINOLs in the solutions state. In the solid state, CP-(R) shows larger PLQY than binaphthol-(R); in contrast, the S enantiomer shows lower PLQY than binaphthol-(S); this indicates that the isomer-dependent solid-state packing of these compounds plays a crucial role in controlling the PL. Thin films with more than 1 % doping concentration and pristine solids of these compounds do not show persistent room-temperature phosphorescence (pRTP) due to concentration-caused quenching. However, thin films with wt 1 % of these chiral emitters exhibit pRTP characteristics with a ~159-343 ms lifetime under vacuum. Theoretical calculations reveal that the cyclophosphazene acts as an optically innocent dendritic core, and the optical features of these compounds are dictated by the pendent BINOL chromophore.

Abstract
In this work, the nucleophilic substitution reactions of the cyclotetraphosphazene, tetramer, (1) (N4P4Cl8) with the disodium salt of 1,2-ethanediol in THF solution at different mole ratios were demonstrated. Surprisingly, one double bridged (2) and three ansa derivatives [bis (3), tris (4) and tetrakis (5)] were formed demonstrating two competing pathways in these reactions. The new type cyclotetraphosphazene compounds (2-5) consisting of multiple rings were characterized by elemental analysis, mass spectrometry, 1H and 31P NMR spectroscopy and X-Ray crystallography. Although 1,2-ethanediol, a short chain diol, can only produce spiro type products with cyclotriphosphazene, (N3P3Cl6), it was able to give ansa type products with cyclotetraphosphazene which suggests the role of the ring flexibility of 1. Crystallographic evidence shows the distortion of the cyclotetraphosphazene ring.

Abstract
(Amino)cyclotriphosphazenes have been used as new scaffolds for the synthesis of silver(I) metallomesogens. Two cyclotriphosphazenes, [N3P3(NHCy)6] (phos-1) and nongem-trans-[N3P3(NHCy)3(NMe2)3] (phos-2), were reacted with the silver complex having a pro-mesogenic ligand, [Ag(OTf)L] (L = CNC6H4{OC(O)C6H2(3,4,5-(OC10H21)3)}-4; OTf = OSO2CF3), in different molar ratios, 1:1, 1:2, or 1:3, to give two series of cationic metallophosphazenes, [N3P3(NHCy)6{AgL}n](TfO)n (phos-1.n) and nongem-trans-[N3P3(NHCy)3(NMe2)3{AgL}n](TfO)n (phos-2.n) with n = 1, 2, or 3. The chemical structure of these compounds, deduced from spectroscopic techniques, was in accordance with coordination of the silver fragments "AgL" to nitrogen atoms of the phosphazene ring, whereby their number n depends on the molar ratio used. Despite the presence of the bulky substituents on the core N atoms, cyclotriphosphazenes coordinated to three "AgL" units exhibited mesomorphism at room temperature. The mesophase was characterized as columnar hexagonal according to the optical microscopy and X-ray diffraction studies. A model based on an intermolecular association in pairs of the metallocyclotriphosphazenes having three AgL units has been proposed in order to explain the mesomorphic columnar arrangement in these materials. Starting silver complex, [Ag(OTf)L], also exhibited a columnar hexagonal mesophase at room temperature.

Abstract
The reactivity of the multisite (amino)cyclotriphosphazene ligands, [N3P3(NHCy)6] and [N3P3(NHCy)3(NMe2)3], has been explored in order to obtain silver(I) metallophosphazene complexes. Two series of cationic silver(I) metallophosphazenes were obtained and characterized: [N3P3(NHCy)6{AgL}n](TfO)n [n = 2, L = PPh3 (2), PPh2Me (4); n = 3, L = PPh3 (3), PPh2Me (5), TPA (TPA = 1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphaadamantane, 6)] and nongem-trans-[N3P3(NHCy)3(NMe2)3{AgL}n](TfO)n [n = 2, L = PPh3 (7), PPh2Me (9); n = 3, L = PPh3 (8), PPh2Me (10)]. 5, 7, and 9 have also been characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, thereby allowing key bonding information to be obtained. Compounds 2-6, 9, and 10 were screened for in vitro cytotoxic activity against two tumor human cell lines, MCF7 (breast adenocarcinoma) and HepG2 (hepatocellular carcinoma), and for antimicrobial activity against five bacterial species including Gram-positive, Gram-negative, and Mycobacteria strains. Both the IC50 and MIC values revealed excellent biological activity for these metal complexes, compared with their precursors and cisplatin and also AgNO3 and silver sulfadiazine, respectively. Both IC50 and MIC values are among the lowest values found for any silver derivatives against the cell lines and bacterial strains used in this work. The structure-activity relationships were clear. The most cytotoxic and antimicrobial derivatives were those with the triphenylphosphane and [N3P3(NHCy)6] ligands. A significant improvement in the activity was also observed upon a rise in the number of silver atoms linked to the phosphazene ring.

Improved thermal properties of epoxy resin modified with polymethyl methacrylate-microencapsulated phosphorus-nitrogen-containing flame retardant. RSC Adv 2018; 8:29816-29829. Abstract
Epoxy resin (EP) composites with improved thermal resistance were fabricated. To solve the problem of low thermal resistance derived from phosphazene flame-retardant additives, we designed a system based on flame-retardant microcapsules P(H), with hexaphenoxycyclotriphosphazene as the core and polymethyl methacrylate as the shell. The core–shell structure was characterized and confirmed. The thermal resistance of the cured EP composites containing 1 wt% P(H) microcapsules was improved because of the increased glass transition temperatures. The P(2.75H)/EP composites can reach a limited oxygen index of 30.5% and V-1 rating in UL-94 tests. Heat and gas release rates were reduced during combustion tests. Residual images implied that the P(H) microcapsules may promote the formation of a flame-retardant char layer. Pyrolysis analysis demonstrated that the P(H) microcapsules can decompose in two procedures to produce flame-retardant gas components. Therefore, the flame-retardant mechanism involved the flame inhibition effect in the gas phase, and the charring effect in the condensed phase. Epoxy resin composites with improved thermal resistance and flame retardancy were fabricated based on P(H) microcapsules.![]()
