Abstract
Mercury and its compounds are known to be extremely toxic but widely distributed in environment. Although many works have been reported to efficiently detect mercury, development of simple and convenient sensors is still longed for quick analyzing mercury in water. In this work, a nanoscale metal-oxo cluster, (n-Bu4N)2[Mo5NaO13(OCH3)4(NO)], (MLPOM), organically-derivatized from monolacunary Lindqvist-type polyoxomolybdate, is found to specifically react with Hg(2+) in methanol/water via structural transformation. The MLPOM methanol solution displays a color change from purple to brown within seconds after being mixed with an aqueous solution containing Hg(2+). By comparing the structure of polyoxomolybdate before and after reaction, the color change is revealed to be the essentially structural transformation of MLPOM accelerated by Hg(2+). Based on this discovery, MLPOM could be utilized as a colorimetric sensor to sense the existence of Hg(2+), and a simple and label-free method is developed to selectively detect aqueous Hg(2+). Furthermore, the colorimetric sensor has been applied to indicating mercury contamination in industrial sewage.

Abstract
A new class of hexameric Ln12 -containing 60-tungstogermanates, [Na(H2 O)6 ⊂Eu12 (OH)12 (H2 O)18 Ge2 (GeW10 O38 )6 ](39-) (Eu12 ), [Na(H2 O)6 ⊂Gd12 (OH)6 (H2 O)24 Ge(GeW10 O38 )6 ](37-) (Gd12 ), and [(H2 O)6 ⊂Dy12 (H2 O)24 (GeW10 O38 )6 ](36-) (Dy12 ), comprising six di-Ln-embedded {β(4,11)-GeW10 } subunits was prepared by reaction of [α-GeW9 O34 ](10-) with Ln(III) ions in weakly acidic (pH 5) aqueous medium. Depending on the size of the Ln(III) ion, the assemblies feature selective capture of two (for Eu12 ), one (for Gd12 ), or zero (for Dy12 ) extra Ge(IV) ions. The selective encapsulation of a cationic sodium hexaaqua complex [Na(H2 O)6 ](+) was observed for Eu12 and Gd12 , whereas Dy12 incorporates a neutral, distorted-octahedral (H2 O)6 cluster. The three compounds were characterized by single-crystal XRD, ESI-MS, photoluminescence, and magnetic studies. Dy12 was shown to be a single-molecule magnet.

Abstract
One polyoxometalate-based inorganic-organic hybrid polymer [Ag3L4(PMo12O40)(CH3OH)]·CH3OH (1), where L is N,N'-bis(furan-2-ylmethylene)hydrazine, has been synthesized at room temperature and structurally characterized by infrared spectroscopy, ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy, elemental analysis, X-ray powder diffraction and X-ray single-crystal crystallography. The structure of 1 exhibits a crystalline one-dimensional polymer constructed by the connections of Keggin-type [PMo12O40](3-) anions and [Ag3L4](3+) units, in which each Ag(I) center adopted a distorted square pyramidal environment. The spectroscopic experiments show that polymer 1 not only is potential semiconductor materials but also displays the obvious photocatalytic performance for the degradation of rhodamine B.

Abstract
A novel manganese(IV)-containing symmetrical heteropolyvanadate was prepared by the transformation of K7[MnV13O38]·18H2O (K7MnV13) to K4Li2[MnV14O40]·21H2O (1) at pH 4. The heteropolyanion [MnV14O40](6-) (MnV14) is composed of a MnO6 octahedron surrounded by 14 edge-sharing VO6 octahedra. The simplified representation of MnV14 has a new topology termed jba1 with a total point symbol of {3(10)}2{3(14).4(7)}4{3(18).4(10)}8{3(44).4(46).5}. In the crystal lattice of 1, MnV14 packs with potassium ions, forming a 2D layered K2[MnV14O40](4-) network (ABABAB...). Four K(+) ions cap the four square O4 faces of MnV14, apparently stabilizing the heteropolyanion. Compound 1 catalyzes the t-BuOOH-based oxidation of 2-chloroethyl ethyl sulfide (a mustard gas simulant). The magnetic and catalytic properties of 1 are discussed.

Abstract
The structural chemistry of Group 13 polyoxometalates lags far behind related negatively charged transition metal species and limits the development of advanced materials. A novel heterometallic cluster [Ga2Al18O8(OH)36(H2O)12](8+) (Ga2Al18) has been isolated using a supramolecular approach and structurally characterized using single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Ga2Al18 represents the Wells-Dawson structure polycations and variations in the structural topology may be related to the initial stabilization of the Keggin isomer. DFT calculations on the related ε-Keggins (GaAl12 and Al13), Ga2Al18, and theoretical Al2Al18 clusters reveal similar features of electronic structure, suggesting additional heteroatom substitution in other isostructural clusters should be possible.

Abstract
We report a collision-induced dissociation (CID) investigation of the mixed addenda polyoxometalate (POM) anions, PMo(12-n)W(n)O(40)(3-) (n = 0-12). The anions were generated in solution using a straightforward single-step synthesis approach and introduced into the gas phase by electrospray ionization (ESI). Distinct differences in fragmentation patterns were observed for the range of mixed addenda POMs examined in this study. CID of molybdenum-rich anions, PMo(12-n)W(n)O(40)(3-) (n = 0-2), generates an abundant doubly charged fragment containing seven metal atoms (M) and 22 oxygen atoms (M(7)O(22)(2-)) and its complementary singly charged PM(5)O(18)(-) ion. In comparison, the doubly charged Lindqvist anion, (M(6)O(19)(2-)) and its complementary singly charged PM(6)O(21)(-) ion are the dominant fragments of Keggin POMs containing more than two tungsten atoms, PMo(12-n)W(n)O(40)(3-) (n = 3-12). The observed transition in the dissociation pathways with an increase in the number of W atoms in the POM may be attributed to the higher barrier of tungsten-rich anions towards isomerization. We present evidence that the observed distribution of Mo and W atoms in the major M(6)O(19)(2-) and M(7)O(22)(2-) fragment ions is different from that predicted by a random distribution, indicating substantial segregation of the addenda metal atoms in the POMs. Charge reduction of the triply charged precursor anion resulting in formation of doubly charged anions is also observed. This is a dominant pathway for mixed POMs having a majority (8-11) of W atoms and a minor channel for other precursors indicating a close competition between fragmentation and charge loss pathways in CID of POM anions.

Abstract
Two novel polyoxometalate (POM)-based metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), [TBA]3[ε-PMo(V)8Mo(VI)4O36(OH)4Zn4][BTB]4/3·xGuest (NENU-500, BTB = benzene tribenzoate, TBA(+) = tetrabutylammonium ion) and [TBA]3[ε-PMo(V)8Mo(VI)4O37(OH)3Zn4][BPT] (NENU-501, BPT = [1,1'-biphenyl]-3,4',5-tricarboxylate), were isolated. In these compounds, the POM fragments serving as nodes were directly connected with organic ligands giving rise to three-dimensional (3D) open frameworks. The two anionic frameworks were balanced by TBA(+) ions residing inside the open channels. They exhibit not only good stability in air but also tolerance to acidic and basic media. Furthermore, they were employed as electrocatalysts for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) owing to the combination of the redox activity of a POM unit and the porosity of a MOF. Meanwhile, the HER activities of ε(trim)(4/3), NENU-5, and HKUST-1 were also studied for comparison. Remarkably, as a 3D hydrogen-evolving cathode operating in acidic electrolytes, NENU-500 exhibits the highest activity among all MOF materials. It shows an onset overpotential of 180 mV and a Tafel slope of 96 mV·dec(-1), and the catalytic current density can approach 10 mA·cm(-2) at an overpotential of 237 mV. Moreover, NENU-500 and NENU-501 maintain their electrocatalytic activities after 2000 cycles.

Abstract
Surface anchoring of an organic functionalized POM, TBA3K[SiW10O36(PhPO)2] was carried out by two methods, the layer-by-layer (LBL) assembly technique by employing a pentaerythritol-based ruthenium(II) metallodendrimer as a cationic moiety and also by entrapping the POM in a conducting polypyrrole film. The redox behavior of the constructed films was studied by using cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The surface morphologies of the constructed multilayers were examined by scanning electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy was conducted to confirm the elements present within the fabricated films. The multilayer assembly was also investigated for its catalytic efficiency towards the reduction of nitrite.
