Abstract
Abstract The coordination polymer [Ti(OiPr)3(OOCCH2CH2CH2C3N2H3)]n was prepared from 4-(imidazol-1-yl)butyric acid and titanium isopropoxide. The structure of the compound is remarkable, as the carboxylate group is coordinated in a chelating manner and no dimerization of the Ti(OiPr)3 groups through OR bridges was observed. Abstract
The photodynamic properties of a series of Fe(iii)-MOFs have been examined via redox reactions with N,N,N′,N′-tetramethyl-p-phenylenediamine as an electron donor and methyl viologen as an electron acceptor. Furthermore, photogeneration of long-lived species in MIL-88B(Fe) has been proven via transient absorption spectroscopy.

Abstract
In this chapter it has been exemplified that MOFs can exhibit photoactivity derived from the interaction of the organic linker with the inorganic clusters. Comparison with analogous systems in solution shows that the crystal lattice of MOF, in which the linker and the organic cluster have intimate contact, originates a photochemical response that is not found for the homogeneous solution. Furthermore, MOFs can act as passive matrices to accommodate, in the internal voids, photoactive chromophores that can exhibit a distinctive response due to the properties of the surrounding media. All the discussed examples illustrate the possibility of obtaining interesting photoresponses that can open up applications beyond absorption and catalysis. Among these applications we have commented the use of MOFs as photocatalysts for environmental remediation and for the generation of solid fuels, particularly hydrogen, as well as applications in optoelectronics including solar cells and phosphors. All these applications derive from the consideration of MOFs as semiconductors.

Abstract
An adsorbent performance indicator (API) is proposed in an effort to initially highlight porous materials of potential interest for PSA separation processes. This expression takes into account working capacities, selectivities, and adsorption energies and additionally uses weighting factors to reflect the specific requirements of a given process. To demonstrate the applicability of the API, we have performed the adsorption of carbon dioxide and methane at room temperature on a number of metal-organic frameworks, a zeolite and a molecular sieve carbon. The API is calculated for two different CO2/CH4 separation case scenarios: "bulk separation" and "natural gas purification". This comparison highlights how the API can be more versatile than previously proposed comparison factors for an initial indication of potential adsorbent performance.
