Abstract
Cu-catalyzed thiolation or selenylation of aryl C-H bonds with diaryl disulfides and
diphenyl diselenides was accomplished using a readily removable directing group. This protocol represents
a convenient route for the formation of valuable diaryl sulfides or diphenyl selenides. This simple
method gives a variety of functionalized diphenyl sulfides or diphenyl selenides in moderate to good
yields in a simple and efficient way.

A comprehensive overview of directing groups applied in metal-catalysed C-H functionalisation chemistry. Chem Soc Rev 2018; 47:6603-6743. [PMID: 30033454 PMCID: PMC6113863 DOI: 10.1039/c8cs00201k] [Citation(s) in RCA: 1105] [Impact Index Per Article: 184.2] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Track Full Text] [Figures] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 03/14/2018] [Indexed: 12/20/2022]
Abstract
The present review is devoted to summarizing the recent advances (2015-2017) in the field of metal-catalysed group-directed C-H functionalisation. In order to clearly showcase the molecular diversity that can now be accessed by means of directed C-H functionalisation, the whole is organized following the directing groups installed on a substrate. Its aim is to be a comprehensive reference work, where a specific directing group can be easily found, together with the transformations which have been carried out with it. Hence, the primary format of this review is schemes accompanied with a concise explanatory text, in which the directing groups are ordered in sections according to their chemical structure. The schemes feature typical substrates used, the products obtained as well as the required reaction conditions. Importantly, each example is commented on with respect to the most important positive features and drawbacks, on aspects such as selectivity, substrate scope, reaction conditions, directing group removal, and greenness. The targeted readership are both experts in the field of C-H functionalisation chemistry (to provide a comprehensive overview of the progress made in the last years) and, even more so, all organic chemists who want to introduce the C-H functionalisation way of thinking for a design of straightforward, efficient and step-economic synthetic routes towards molecules of interest to them. Accordingly, this review should be of particular interest also for scientists from industrial R&D sector. Hence, the overall goal of this review is to promote the application of C-H functionalisation reactions outside the research groups dedicated to method development and establishing it as a valuable reaction archetype in contemporary R&D, comparable to the role cross-coupling reactions play to date.

Abstract
Metal-free C-H thioarylation of arenes and heteroarenes using methyl sulfoxides constitutes a general protocol for the synthesis of high value diaryl sulfides. The coupling of arenes and heteroarenes with in situ activated sulfoxides is regioselective, uses readily available starting materials, is operationally simple, and tolerates a wide range of functional groups.

Abstract
This review classifies and summarizes the past 10-15 years of advancements in the field of metal-involving (i.e., metal-mediated and metal-catalyzed) reactions of oximes. These reactions are diverse in nature and have been employed for syntheses of oxime-based metal complexes and cage-compounds, oxime functionalizations, and the preparation of new classes of organic species, in particular, a wide variety of heterocyclic systems spanning small 3-membered ring systems to macroheterocycles. This consideration gives a general outlook of reaction routes, mechanisms, and driving forces and underlines the potential of metal-involving conversions of oxime species for application in various fields of chemistry and draws attention to the emerging putative targets.

Abstract
An efficient Cp*Rh(III)-catalyzed, chelation-assisted C(sp2)-H acetoxylation and hydroxylation reaction has been developed for the first time. The reaction proceeds under mild conditions and allows for selective preparation of C-H acetoxylation and hydroxylation products, thus providing a good complement to previous C-H oxygenation reactions and expanding the field of Cp*Rh(III)-catalyzed C-H functionalizations.

Abstract
Rh(iii)-catalyzed intermolecular chelation-assisted insertion of carbenes derived from α-diazocarbonyl compounds into non-acidic primary sp(3) C-H bonds, for the first time, is reported under mild reaction conditions, thus affording a good complement to previous metal-carbenoid-induced primary C(sp(3))-H insertion reactions. We believe that this method will open up a new avenue for primary sp(3) C-H functionalization with α-diazocarbonyl compounds.

Abstract
Pd(OAc)2-catalyzed acetoxylations of 3-aryl or 3-alkyl groups mounted on a 2-isoxazoline ring were studied. Substituent effect on reactivity and regioselectivity was examined. The acetoxylation was applied to the synthesis of useful intermediates.
