Abstract
A series of 1,2,3-triazole phenylhydrazone derivatives were designed and synthesized as antifungal agents. Their structures were determined based on (1)H-NMR spectroscopy, MS, elemental analysis and X-ray single-crystal diffraction. The antifungal activities were evaluated against four phytopathogenic fungi including Rhizoctonia solani, Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, Fusarium graminearum and Phytophthora capsici, by the mycelium growth inhibition method in vitro. Compound 5p exhibited significant anti-phytopathogenic activity, with the EC50 values of 0.18, 2.28, 1.01, and 1.85 μg mL(-1), respectively. In vivo testing demonstrated that 5p was effective in the control of rice sheath blight, rape sclerotinia rot and fusarium head blight. A 3D-QSAR model was built for a systematic SAR profile to explore more potent 1,2,3-triazole phenylhydrazone analogs as novel fungicides.

Abstract
This letter describes the preparation of quinoline derivatives and their cytotoxic potentials toward human carcinoma cell lines. Among the selected compounds, 8-hydroxy-2-quinolinecarbaldehyde (3) showed the best in vitro cytotoxicity against the human cancer cell lines, including MDA231, T-47D, Hs578t, SaoS2, K562, SKHep1 (with a MTS50 range of 12.5-25 μg/mL) and Hep3B (with a MTS50 range of 6.25±0.034 μg/mL). The in vivo antitumor activity of compound 3 on subcutenaous Hep3B hepatocellular carcinoma xenograft in athymic nude mice was then studied. The results showed that the dose of 10 mg/kg/day of compound 3 with intraperitoneal injection for 9 days totally abolished the growth of the xenograft tumor of Hep3B with no histological damage on vital organs as compared with the control. The experimental results suggested that compound 3 has a good potential as an antitumor agent.

Abstract
Based on bioisosteric similarities with isoniazid, a series of 1,2,3,4-tetrahydropyrimidine-5-carbonitrile derivatives has been designed. The target compounds have been synthesized by multicomponent reaction which involves one-pot organic reactions using ethylcyanoacetate, urea/thiourea and arylaldehydes in presence of ethanolic K(2)CO(3). Two methodologies, conventional and microwave-assisted, have been adopted for the synthesis. The later strategy gave high yields in less than 10 min as compared to long hours using the former approach. Molecular docking of the target compounds into the enzyme Mycobacterium tuberculosis enoyl reductase (InhA) revealed important structural information on the plausible binding interactions. Major binding interactions were found to be of dispersion type (residues Tyr158, Ile215, Met103 and Met199) and a hydrogen bond with Tyr158. Binding poses of the all the compounds were energetically favorable and showed good interactions with the active site residues. Few selected compounds were also evaluated for antitubercular activity in vitro against drug-sensitive M. tuberculosis H37Rv strain and clinically isolated S, H, R and E resistant M. tuberculosis by luciferase reporter phage (LRP) assay method. Some compounds displayed promising antimycobacterial activity comparable or less than the standard drugs isoniazid and rifampicin.

Abstract
Triazolyl glycolipid derivatives constructed via Cu(I)-catalyzed azide-alkyne 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reaction (Cue-AAC) represent a new range of carbohydrate-based scaffolds for use in many fields of the chemical research. Here the surface adsorptive ability of series of our previously prepared C1- or C6-triazole linked gluco- and galactolipid derivatives for mild steel in 1 M HCl was studied via electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). Results indicated that these monosaccharide-fatty acid conjugates are weak inhibitors against HCl corrosion for mild steel. Moreover, some newly synthesized triazolyl disaccharide (maltose)-fatty alcohol conjugates failed to display enhanced activity, meaning that the structural enlargement of the sugar moiety does not favor the iron surface adsorption. However, a bis-triazolyl glycolipid derivative, which was realized by introducing a benzenesulfonamide group via Cue-AAC to the C6-position of a C1-triazolyl glucolipid analog, eventually showed significantly improved adsorptive potency compared to that of its former counterparts. The corrosion inhibitive modality of this compound for mild steel in HCl was subsequently studied via potentiodynamic polarization and thermodynamic calculations.
