Abstract
In the title compound, C16H14N4O2, the pyrazole ring makes a dihedral angle of 10.49 (8)° with its N-bound phenyl group, while it is nearly perpendicular to the other phenyl ring [dihedral angle = 88.47 (5)°]. The molecular conformation is stabilized by intramolecular C—H⋯O and N—H⋯O hydrogen bonds. In the crystal, the packing involves sheets of molecules parallel to (100) linked by N—H⋯O hydrogen bonds. A C—H⋯O interaction is also observed.

Abstract
The azo-azomethine compounds 2-(2-hydroxyphenylimino)methyl)-4-phenyldiazenyl)phenol (2a-d) were prepared from the reaction of 2-aminophenol with 2-hydroxy-5-(aryldiazenyl)benzaldehyde (1a-d). The structures of all compounds were then characterized by elemental analysis, mass, infrared, UV-vis, (1)H and (13)C NMR spectroscopy. The electronic absorption spectra indicated enol-keto tautomeric and positive solvatochromism in compounds (2a-d), which is dependent on the substitution, nature of solvent, pH and environment temperature. The compounds (2a-d) were also evaluated for antibiotic activities by disc diffusion method. Compounds 2a and 2b exhibited antibacterial activities against Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus cereus, but 2c and 2d were found to have no remarkable antibacterial activity. All the compounds (2a-d) also showed antioxidant activity as determined by 1,1-diphenyl-2-picryl-hydrazyl (DPPH) method.

Abstract
In this study, 8-chloro-4-hydroxyl-2-quinolone was synthesized from cyclocondensation of corresponding dianilide and subsequently used as a potent coupling component with some diazotized heterocyclic amines. These compounds were characterized by UV-vis, FT-IR, (1)H NMR spectroscopic techniques and elemental analysis. Absorption spectra of these dyes were measured in six polar solvents and discussed with respect to the nature of solvents and substituted groups. The effects of acid, base, temperature and concentration on the visible absorption spectra of the dyes were reported. In addition, the antimicrobial activity of the dyes was explored in detail.

Abstract
Coumarin derivative 1, 5,7-dihydroxy-6-(3-methyl-1-butyryl)-4-phenyl-chromen- 2-one, has been reported to possess radical scavenging activity and DNA protection. We have synthesized a series of coumarins with structural modifications at positions C4, C5, C6 and C7 and evaluated them for their anti-UVC properties. Coumarin 7, 6-benzoyl-5,6-dihydroxy-4-phenyl-chromen-2-one, was found to have the most potent activity in protecting porcine γ-crystallin against UVC insults. Results of fluorescence assays indicated that compound 7 was capable of decreasing the loss of intensity while lens crystallins and DNA PUC19 were irradiated with UVC. Presence of compound 7 decreased hydroxyl radical levels determined by probe 1b and the free iron concentrations determined by Ferrozine reagent. The chelation assay showed that compound 7 was chelated to metal via 6-CO and 5-OH on the benzopyrone ring. The observed protective effects of compound 7 towards crystallins from insults of UVC and free radicals may be due to its iron-chelating activity and its peak absorption at 254 nm.

Abstract
In the present research work, the motto was to develop new chemical entities as potential anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic agents. Various 4-(2-amino-6-(substituted)pyrimidin-4-yl)-3-methyl-1-(substituted)-1H-pyrazol-5(4H)-one derivatives (5a-5j) and their Schiff bases (6a-6j) were synthesized. The newly synthesized compounds were characterized by TLC and spectral data. The compounds containing pyrazolone and amino pyrimidine as basic moieties (5a-5j), were screened for their anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic activities, compounds 5a, 5c-5f, 5h exhibited activities nearly similar to the standard. The pharmacological studies reveal that the presence of 4-hydroxy, 4-methoxy, 4-(N,N-dimethylamino) or 2-hydroxy groups on phenyl ring at C6 of amino pyrimidine exhibits anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic activities nearly similar to the standard and substitutions like 4-chloro, 2-nitro, 3-nitro or 4-nitro on same phenyl ring lead to a decrease in activities.
