Abstract
A gradual shift from metal-catalyzed to metal-free methods is occurring, as the latter are more environmentally benign. This review discusses sustainable protocols for the construction of C–C, C–N, C–P, C–S, and C–O bonds via C–H functionalization of quinoxalin-2(1H)-ones.

Abstract
Herein, a novel method for the gram-scale synthesis of (E)-quinoxalinone oximes through a multicomponent reaction under mild conditions is described. Such a transformation was performed under transition-metal-free conditions, affording (E)-oximes in a moderate-to-good yield through recrystallization. Our methodology demonstrates a successful combination of a Mannich-type reaction and radical coupling, providing a green and practical approach for the synthesis of potentially bioactive quinoxalinone-containing molecules.

Abstract
An unexpected three-component reaction of quinoxalin-2(1H)-ones, tert-butyl peroxybenzoate (TBPB), and hexafluoroisopropanol (HFIP) is described. Under CuBr-catalyzed and TBPB-oxidized conditions, a variety of hydroxyhexafluoroisobutylated quinoxalin-2(1H)-ones were formed. Furthermore, the first hexafluoroisopropoxylation of the quinoxalin-2(1H)-ones with HFIP is also demonstrated with Cu2O as the catalyst and PhI(OAc)2 as the oxidant. These new transformations of HFIP furnish previously unknown and potentially useful fluorinated quinoxalin-2(1H)-one derivatives.

Abstract
One bonded- and one discreted-Lindqvist hexatungstate-based copper hybrids (Cu-POMs) ([Cu2(O)OH(phen)2]2[W6O19]·6H2O (1) and [Cu2(phen)4Cl] [HW6O19]·2H2O (2) (phen = 1,10-phenanthroline)) were controllably synthesized and routinely characterized. Cu-POMs 1-2 consisted of identical [W6O19] unit and similar copper-phen complexes, the two units are bonded via four Cu-O chemical bonds in compound 1; however, compound 2 is discreted and stabilized by intermolecular electrostatic interactions. Importantly, these Cu-POMs catalysts were first applied in the novel reaction for the preparation of 2-phenylquinoxalines via the one-pot coupling and oxidation reactions of 2-haloanilines with vinyl azides or 3-phenyl-2H-azirines under mild conditions, and Cu-POMs 1 showed higher catalytic performance in good yields (79-84%). The reactions exhibit some functional group tolerance and allow for the preparation of a number of 2-phenylquinoxalines.

Abstract
An interesting cascade reaction of N-(2-(4,5-dihydrooxazol-2-yl)phenyl)benzamide in the presence of an acid ion exchange resin is described. In this reaction, a range of substrates bearing various substituent groups are well compatible. This work provides a green and atom-economical alternative approach for the synthesis of quinazolin-4-ones in good yields.

Abstract
A novel, practical and metal-free approach for the regioselective selenation of coumarins employing (bis(trifluoroacetoxy)iodo)benzene (PIFA) at room temperature is presented. The developed method is suitable for a wide substrate scope and affords 3-selenyl coumarins in good to excellent yields with high selectivity. A radical mechanism is proposed for this new transformation. Furthermore, the application of sulfenylation with coumarines and selenation with other (hetero)arenes in this transformation is successful.

Abstract
A novel and efficient method of visible-light-induced C3–H fluoroalkoxylation of quinoxalin-2(1H)-ones with fluoroalkyl alcohols is developed. This approach uses readily available fluoroalkyl alcohols as fluoroalkoxylation reagents and displays a wide substrate scope, providing the fluoroalkoxylated products in moderate to good yields. Compared with the previous method, such a transformation uses oxygen as an oxidant, which avoids the utilization of plenty of PhI(TFA)2. In addition, this strategy also gives a practical tool for the rapid synthesis of histamine-4 receptor antagonist and new N-containing bidentate ligands. A radical mechanism was suggested according to the results of control experiments. A visible-light-induced aerobic C3–H fluoroalkoxylation of quinoxalin-2(1H)-ones with fluoroalkyl alcohols was reported, providing a green access to fluoroalkoxylated quinoxalin-2(1H)-ones.![]()

Abstract
A new and efficient visible-light-mediated strategy has been developed for the synthesis of 3-sulfenylated quinoxalin-2(1H)-ones via rhodamine B catalyzed C–H/S–H cross-coupling of quinoxalin-2(1H)-ones with thiols in air at room temperature.
