Abstract
Non-covalent halogen bonding interactions are quintessential in crystal engineering for the construction of distinctive supramolecular synthons. Here, we report the first crystalline evidences of unique boat and chair shaped cyclic hexahalogen synthons in the crystal structures of α,α,α',α',4-pentabromo-o-xylene (PBX) and α,α,α',α',4,5-hexabromo-o-xylene (HBX) respectively. Nature and stability of constituent interactions in the supramolecular synthons are scrutinized with the help of quantum-chemical calculations. Pendás' interacting quantum atoms approach confirmed the stability of Br⋅⋅⋅Br interactions leading to boat and chair shaped synthons with major contribution from exchange-correlation. Although both the molecules are achiral in nature, the packing forces guide PBX to crystallize in the chiral space group P21 with a helix-like orientation while HBX packs in a centrosymmetric P21 /n space group. The extended furcations in the pentabromo derivative construct a molecular framework consisting of macrocycles realized through halogen bonding.

Abstract
Through the salification reaction of carboxylation, successful attachment of the long-chain alkanoic acid to the two ends of 1,3-propanediamine was realized, which enabled the doubling of the long-chain alkanoic acid carbon chain. Hydrous 1,3-propanediamine dihexadecanoate (abbreviated as 3C16) and 1,3-propanediamine diheptadecanoate (abbreviated as 3C17) were synthesized afterward, and their crystal structures were characterized by the X-ray single crystal diffraction technique. By analyzing their molecular and crystal structure, their composition, spatial structure, and coordination mode were determined. Two water molecules played important roles in stabilizing the framework of both compounds. Hirshfeld surface analysis revealed the intermolecular interactions between the two molecules. The 3D energy framework map presented the intermolecular interactions more intuitively and digitally, in which dispersion energy plays a dominant role. DFT calculations were performed to analyze the frontier molecular orbitals (HOMO–LUMO). The energy difference between the HOMO–LUMO is 0.2858 eV and 0.2855 eV for 3C16 and 3C17, respectively. DOS diagrams further confirmed the distribution of the frontier molecular orbitals of 3C16 and 3C17. The charge distributions in the compounds were visualized using a molecular electrostatic potential (ESP) surface. ESP maps indicated that the electrophilic sites are localized around the oxygen atom. The crystallographic data and parameters of quantum chemical calculation in this paper will provide data and theoretical support for the development and application of such materials.

Abstract
The possibility of obtaining cocrystals of kojic acid with organic coformers has been investigated by both computational and experimental approaches. Cocrystallization attempts have been carried out with about 50 coformers, in different stoichiometric ratios, by solution, slurry, and mechanochemical methods. Cocrystals were obtained with 3-hydroxybenzoic acid, imidazole, 4-pyridone, DABCO, and urotropine, while piperazine yielded a salt with the kojiate anion; cocrystallization with theophylline and 4-aminopyridine resulted in stoichiometric crystalline complexes that could not be described with certainty as cocrystals or salts. In the cases of panthenol, nicotinamide, urea, and salicylic acid the eutectic systems with kojic acid were investigated via differential scanning calorimetry. In all other preparations the resulting materials were constituted of a mixture of the reactants. All compounds were investigated by powder X-ray diffraction; the five cocrystals and the salt were fully characterized via single crystal X-ray diffraction. The stability of the cocrystals and the intermolecular interactions in all characterized compounds have been investigated by computational methods based on the electronic structure and pairwise energy calculations, respectively.

Abstract
Polymorphism in crystals is known since 1822 and the credit goes to Mitscherlich who realized the existence of different crystal structures of the same compound while working with some arsenate and phosphate salts. Later on, this phenomenon was observed also in organic crystals. With the advent of different technologies, especially the easy availability of single crystal XRD instruments, polymorphism in crystals has become a common phenomenon. Almost 37 % of compounds (single component) are polymorphic to date. As the energies of the different polymorphic forms are very close to each other, small changes in crystallization conditions might lead to different polymorphic structures. As a result, sometimes it is difficult to control polymorphism. For this reason, it is considered to be a nuisance to crystal engineering. It has been realized that the property of a material depends not only on the molecular structure but also on its crystal structure. Therefore, it is not only of interest to academia but also has widespread applications in the materials science as well as pharmaceutical industries. In this review, we have discussed polymorphism which causes significant changes in materials properties in different fields of solid-state science, such as electrical, magnetic, SHG, thermal expansion, mechanical, luminescence, color, and pharmaceutical. Therefore, this review will interest researchers from supramolecular chemistry, materials science as well as medicinal chemistry.

Abstract
A heteroaryl sulfonyl(VI) fluoride, 4-chloro-7-fluorosulfonyl-2,1,3-benzoxadiazole, was synthesized from its chloride counterpart (4-chloro-7-chlorosulfonyl-2,1,3-benzoxadiazole) and the X-ray structure analysis of these compounds and the interactions in the solid-state were thoroughly examined. Hirshfeld surface analysis is used to provide a thorough and complete picture of the changes arising from the different halides in the functional groups. Surface analysis reveals that the fluoride does not participate in any hydrogen interactions as opposed to the chloride. However, the fluorine atom is observed to form close interactions with several π bonds. For both moieties, however, the sulfonyl oxygens show comparable interactions with respect to both magnitude and interatomic distances. The Hirshfeld surface analysis is coupled with computational studies to help elucidate the observed interactions that are found from the distinct nitrogen, chlorine, and oxygen atoms present in the molecules, providing new physical insights to the correlation between their structures and properties.

Abstract
Two biologically active adamantane-linked hydrazine-1-carbothioamide derivatives, namely 2-(adamantane-1-carbonyl)-N-(tert-butyl)hydrazine-1-carbothioamide) 1 and 2-(adamantane-1-carbonyl)-N-cyclohexylhydrazine-1-carbothioamide 2, have been synthesized. X-ray analysis was conducted to study the effect of the t-butyl and cyclohexyl moieties on the intermolecular interactions and conformation of the molecules in the solid state. X-ray analysis reveals that compound 1 exhibits folded conformation, whereas compound 2 adopts extended conformation. The Hirshfeld surface analysis indicates that the contributions of the major intercontacts involved in the stabilization of the crystal structures do not change much as a result of the t-butyl and cyclohexyl moieties. However, the presence and absence of these contacts is revealed by the 2D-fingerprint plots. The CLP-Pixel method was used to identify the energetically significant molecular dimers. These dimers are stabilized by different types of intermolecular interactions such as N-H···S, N-H···O, C-H···S, C-H···O, H-H bonding and C-H···π interactions. The strength of these interactions was quantified by using the QTAIM approach. The results suggest that N-H···O interaction is found to be stronger among other interactions. The in vitro assay suggests that both compounds 1 and 2 exhibit urease inhibition potential, and these compounds also display moderate antiproliferative activities. Molecular docking analysis shows the key interaction between urease enzyme and title compounds.

Abstract
PURPOSE Water of crystallization has been observed to increase plasticity, decrease crystal hardness, and improve powder compressibility and tabletability of organic crystals. This work is aimed at gaining a molecular level insight into this observation. METHOD We systematically analyzed crystal structures of five stoichiometric hydrate systems, using several complementary techniques of analysis, including energy framework, water environment, overall packing change, hydrate stability, and slip plane identification. RESULTS The plasticizing effect by lattice water is always accompanied by an introduction of more facile slip planes, lower packing efficiency, and lower density in all hydrate systems examined in this work. Three distinct mechanisms include 1) changing the distribution of intermolecular interactions without significantly changing the packing of molecules to introduce more facile slip planes; 2) changing packing feature into a flat layered structure so that more facile slip planes are introduced; 3) reducing the interlayer interaction energies and increasing the anisotropy. CONCLUSION Although the specific mechanisms for these five systems differ, all five hydrates are featured with more facile slip planes, lower packing efficiency, and lower density.

Abstract
PURPOSE Development of a quantitative model and associated workflow for predicting the mechanical deformation properties (plastic deformation or cleavage fracture) of organic single crystals from their crystallographic structures using molecular and crystallographic modelling. METHODS Intermolecular synthons, hydrogen bonding, crystal morphology and surface chemistry are modelled using empirical force fields with the data integrated into the analysis of lattice deformation as computed using a statistical approach. RESULTS The approach developed comprises three main components. Firstly, the identification of the likely direction of deformation based on lattice unit cell geometry; secondly, the identification of likely lattice planes for deformation through the calculation of the strength and stereochemistry of interplanar intermolecular interactions, surface plane rugosity and surface energy; thirdly, identification of potential crystal planes for cleavage fracture by assessing intermolecular bonding anisotropy. Pentaerythritol is predicted to fracture by brittle cleavage on the {001} lattice planes by strong in-plane hydrogen-bond interactions in the <110>, whereas pentaerythritol tetranitrate is predicted to deform by plastic deformation through the slip system {110} < 001>, with both predictions being in excellent agreement with known experimental data. CONCLUSION A crystallographic framework and associated workflow for predicting the mechanical deformation of molecular crystals is developed through quantitative assessment of lattice energetics, crystal surface chemistry and crystal defects. The potential for the de novo prediction of the mechanical deformation of pharmaceutical materials using this approach is highlighted for its potential importance in the design of formulated drug products process as needed for manufacture by direct compression.

Abstract
Three symmetrical bis-aryl-α,β-unsaturated ketone derivatives, 2,6-di((E)-benzylidene)-cyclohexan-1-one (DBC), 2,6-bis((E)-4-chlorobenzylidene)cyclohexan-1-one (BCC), and (1E,1'E,4E,4'E)-5,5'-(1,4-phenylene)bis(2-methyl-1-phenylpenta-1,4-dien-3-one) (PBMP), have been prepared using the aldol condensation approach toward ketones having two enolizable sites. The structures of DBC, BCC, and PBMP have been resolved via spectrometric methods. Moreover, the crystal structure of PBMP is determined by the single-crystal X-ray diffraction (SC-XRD) technique, which revealed that the PBMP molecular assembly is stabilized by the intermolecular C-H···O bonding and C-O···π and weak T-shaped offset π···π stacking interactions. The Hirshfeld surface analysis (HSA) of the PBMP crystal structure was performed as well, and the results were compared with the results of DBC and BCC. The density functional theory (DFT) study results revealed that the longer conjugated molecule of PBMP has smaller but still quite significant HOMO-LUMO gaps compared to the smaller molecules of BCC and DBC. The natural population analysis (NPA) and natural bonding orbital (NBO) analysis were performed. Accordingly, the hydrogen bonding and dipole-dipole interactions stabilize the crystal structures of these compounds. Additionally, the NBO analysis showed numerous high-energy stabilizing interactions for the PBMP compound due to the presence of numerous delocalized and relatively easily polarizable π-electrons, thus implying its significant thermodynamic stability. According to the global reactivity parameter (GRP) analysis, the compounds BCC and DBC are relatively stable in redox processes and have high thermodynamic stability and relatively lower reactivity in general. The molecular electrostatic potential (MEP) analysis results imply potential formation of the intermolecular hydrogen bonding and dispersion interactions, which stabilizes the crystal structures of these compounds.

Abstract
Although antimicrobial resistance before the Covid-19 pandemic is a top priority for global public health, research is already ongoing on novel organic compounds with antimicrobial and antiviral properties in changing medical environments in connection with Covid 19. Thanks to the Biginelli reaction, which allows the synthesis of pyrimidine compounds, blockers of calcium channels, antibodies, antiviral, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, or antioxidant therapeutic compounds were investigated. In this paper, we aim to present Biginelli's synthesis, its therapeutic properties, and the structural-functional relationship in the test compounds that allows the synthesis of antimicrobial compounds. Both the DFT and TD-DFT computations of spectral data, molecular orbitals (HOMO, LUMO) analysis, and electrostatic potential (MEP) surfaces are carried out as an add-on to synthetic research. Hirshfeld surface analysis was also used to segregate the different intermolecular hydrogen bonds involved in the molecular packing strength. Natural Bond Orbital (NBO) investigation endorses the existence of intermolecular interactions mediated by lone pair, bonding, and anti-bonding orbitals. The dipole moment, linear polarizability, and first hyperpolarizabilities have been explored as molecular parameters. All findings based on DFT exhibit the best consistency with experimental findings, implying that synthesized molecules are highly stable. To better understand the binding mechanism of the SARS-CoV-2 Mpro, we performed molecular docking, molecular dynamics (MD) simulations, and binding free energy calculations.

Abstract

Two 3,6-disubstituted-[1,2,4]triazolo[3,4-b][1,3,4]thiadiazole
derivatives, namely, 3-(adamantan-1-yl)-6-(2-chloro-6-fluorophenyl)-[1,2,4]triazolo[3,4-b][1,3,4]thiadiazole 1 and 6-(2-chloro-6-fluorophenyl)-3-phenyl-[1,2,4]triazolo[3,4-b][1,3,4]thiadiazole 2, were prepared, and
the detailed analysis of the weak intermolecular interactions responsible
for the supramolecular self-assembly was performed using X-ray diffraction
and theoretical tools. Analyses of Hirshfeld surface and 2D fingerprint
plot demonstrated the effect of adamant-1-yl/phenyl moieties on intermolecular
interactions in solid-state structures. The effect of these substituents
on H···H/Cl/N contacts was more specific. The CLP-PIXEL
and density functional theory methods provide information on the energetics
of molecular dimers observed in these compounds. The crystal structure
of compound 1 stabilizes with a variety of weak intermolecular
interactions, including C–H···N, C–H···π,
and C–H···Cl hydrogen bonds, a directional C–S···π
chalcogen bond, and unconventional short F···C/N contacts.
The crystal structure of compound 2 is stabilized by
π-stacking interactions, C–H···N, C–H···π,
and C–H···Cl hydrogen bonds, and highly directional
attractive σ–hole interactions such as the C–Cl···N
halogen bond and the C–S···N chalcogen bond.
In addition, S(lp)···C(π) and short N···N
contacts play a supportive role in the stabilization of certain molecular
dimers. The final supramolecular architectures resulting from the
combination of different intermolecular interactions are observed
in both the crystal packing. The molecular electrostatic potential
map reveals complementary electrostatic potentials of the interacting
atoms. The quantum theory of atoms in molecules approach was used
to delineate the nature and strength of different intermolecular interactions
present in different dimers of compounds 1 and 2. The in vitro experiments suggest that both compounds showed
selectivity against COX-2 targets rather than COX-1. Molecular docking
analysis showed the binding pose of the compounds at the active sites
of COX-1/2 enzymes.

Abstract
In the title molecule, C7H6N4O3, the bicyclic ring system is planar with the carboxymethyl group inclined by 81.05 (5)° to this plane. In the crystal, corrugated layers parallel to (010) are generated by N—H...O, O—H...N and C—H...O hydrogen-bonding interactions. The layers are associated through C—H...π(ring) interactions. A Hirshfeld surface analysis indicates that the most important contributions to the crystal packing are from H...O/O...H (34.8%), H...N/N...H (19.3%) and H...H (18.1%) interactions. The volume of the crystal voids and the percentage of free space were calculated to be 176.30 Å3 and 10.94%, showing that there is no large cavity in the crystal packing. Computational methods revealed O—H...N, N—H...O and C—H...O hydrogen-bonding energies of 76.3, 55.2, 32.8 and 19.1 kJ mol−1, respectively. Evaluations of the electrostatic, dispersion and total energy frameworks indicate that the stabilization is dominated via dispersion energy contributions. Moreover, the optimized molecular structure, using density functional theory (DFT) at the B3LYP/6–311G(d,p) level, was compared with the experimentally determined one. The HOMO–LUMO energy gap was determined and the molecular electrostatic potential (MEP) surface was calculated at the B3LYP/6–31G level to predict sites for electrophilic and nucleophilic attacks.

Abstract
Single crystal XRD structure of the title compound reveals that the molecule adopt non-planar structure. The molecule is puckered with the total puckering amplitude of (Q) = 0.368(3)Å. Crystals of the title molecules are interconnected by intermolecular O–H⋯O and C–H⋯O interactions to develop 1D chains extending infinitely along the crystallographic a-axis. The intermolecular interactions were explored by Hirshfeld surfaces and their associated fingerprint graphs are obtained which revealed that the H⋯H and H⋯C pairs of inter atomic contacts were pre-dominant in the crystal packing of title compound. The energy of intermolecular interactions are computed using the accurate energy density model of B3LYP/6–31 G(d,p).

Abstract

Little is known about the mechanisms behind the bistability
(memory)
of molecular spin transition compounds over broad temperature ranges
(>100 K). To address this point, we report on a new discrete FeII neutral complex [FeIIL2]0 (1) based on a novel asymmetric tridentate ligand 2-(5-(3-methoxy-4H-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl)-6-(1H-pyrazol-1-yl))pyridine
(L). Due to the asymmetric cone-shaped form, in the lattice, the formed
complex molecules stack into a one-dimensional (1D) supramolecular
chain. In the case of the rectangular supramolecular arrangement of
chains in methanolates 1-A and 1-B (both
orthorhombic, Pbcn) differing, respectively, by bent
and extended spatial conformations of the 3-methoxy groups (3MeO),
a moderate cooperativity is observed. In contrast, the hexagonal-like
arrangement of supramolecular chains in polymorph 1-C (monoclinic, P21/c) results in steric coupling of the transforming complex
species with the peripheral flipping 3MeO group. The group acts as
a supramolecular latch, locking the huge geometric distortion of complex 1 and in turn the trigonal distortion of the central FeII ion in the high-spin state, thereby keeping it from the
transition to the low-spin state over a large thermal range. Analysis
of the crystal packing of 1-C reveals significantly changing
patterns of close intermolecular interactions on going between the
phases substantiated by the energy framework analysis. The detected
supramolecular mechanism leads to a record-setting robust 105 K wide
hysteresis spanning the room temperature region and an atypically
large TLIESST relaxation value of 104
K of the photoexcited high-spin state. This work highlights a viable
pathway toward a new generation of cleverly designed molecular memory
materials.

Abstract
A rigid inositol-derived monomer functionalized with azide and alkyne as the complementary reactive groups (CRGs) crystallized as three distinct polymorphs I-III. Despite the unsuitable orientation of CRGs in the crystals for complete polymerization, all the three polymorphs underwent regiospecific and quantitative topochemical azide-alkyne cycloaddition (TAAC) polymerization upon heating to yield three different polymorphs of 1,2,3-triazol-1,4-diyl-linked-poly-neo-inositol. The molecules in these polymorphs exploit the weak intermolecular interactions, free space in the crystal lattice, and heat energy for their large and cooperative molecular motion to attain a transient reactive orientation, ultimately leading to the regiospecific TAAC reaction yielding distinct crystalline polymers. This study cautions that the overreliance on topochemical postulates for the prediction of topochemical reactivity at high temperatures could be misleading.

Abstract
The enantiotropic relationship between the four polymorphs of pyrazinamide is analyzed by means of accurate X-ray diffraction measurements, normal-mode refinement and periodic DFT calculations. This article focuses on the structure and relative stability of four pyrazinamide polymorphs. New single crystal X-ray diffraction data collected for all forms at 10 K and 122 K are presented. By combining periodic abinitio DFT calculations with normal-mode refinement against X-ray diffraction data, both enthalpic and entropic contributions to the free energy of all polymorphs are calculated. On the basis of the estimated free energies, the stability order of the polymorphs as a function of temperature and the corresponding solid state phase transition temperatures are anticipated. It can be concluded that the α and γ forms have higher vibrational entropy than that of the β and δ forms and therefore they are significantly more stabilized at higher temperatures. Due to the entropy which arises from the disorder in γ form, it overcomes form α and is the most stable form at temperatures above ∼500 K. Our findings are in qualitative agreement with the experimental calorimetry results.

Abstract
The crystal structures of miconazole {MIC, C18H14Cl4N2O, systematic name (RS)-1-[2-(2,4-dichlorobenzyloxy)-2-(2,4-dichlorophenyl)ethyl]-1H-imidazole}, its ethanol monosolvate (C18H14Cl4N2O·C2H5OH) and its hemihydrate (C18H14Cl4N2O·0.5H2O) were compared. A detailed comparison of the molecular conformation of the miconazole molecules showed a structural similarity of the solvate forms, whereas the unsolvated form is related to the gas-phase structure. This suggests that the molecular conformation of miconazole is influenced by solvent molecules. The crystal architectures of the considered solvatomorphs are differentiated by the intermolecular interactions formed by ethanol and water molecules. The structural studies are enriched by Hirshfeld surface and energy framework analysis. The pairwise model energies of the dominant contacts were estimated to be in the range 20–70 kJ mol−1. It is interesting that the contribution of dispersive forces predominates over the electrostatic forces.

Abstract
Baloxavir marboxil (BXM) is a new blockbuster FDA-approved anti-influenza virus agent. However, its poor solubility has limited its oral bioavailability. In this study, BXM was crystallized from several organic solvents, obtaining three polymorphs, and their dissolution behaviors were studied. Detailed crystallographic examination revealed that Form I is monoclinic, space group P21, with unit cell parameters a = 7.1159 (3) Å, b = 20.1967 (8) Å, c = 9.4878 (4) Å, β = 109.033 (1)°, V = 1289.02 (9) Å3, and Z = 2, and Form II is monoclinic, space group P21, with unit cell parameters a = 7.1002 (14) Å, b = 39.310 (7) Å, c = 9.7808 (18) Å, β = 110.966 (5)°, V = 2549.2 (8) Å3, and Z = 4. Form I has a rectangular three-dimensional energy frameworks net, while Form II has a two-dimensional net. On the other hand, Form II has a much larger percentage of its surface area of exposed hydrogen bond acceptors than Form I. These crystallographic features offered increased solubility and dissolution rate to Form II. The results of stability and solubility experiments suggest that Form II may be preferred in the solid form used for the industrial preparation of BXM medicinal products.

Abstract
The initiation of energetic materials by mechanical stimuli is a critical stage of their functioning, but remains poorly understood. Using atomic force microscopy (AFM) we explore the microscopic initiation behavior of four prototypical energetic materials: 3,4-dinitropyrazole, ε-CL-20, α-PETN and picric acid. Along with the various chemical structures, these energetic compounds cover a range of application types: a promising melt-cast explosive, the most powerful energetic compound in use, a widespread primary explosive, and a well-established nitroaromatic explosive from the early development of energetics. For the softest materials (picric acid and 3,4-dinitropyrazole), the surfaces were found to behave dynamically, quickly rearranging in response to mechanical deformation. The pit created by nanoscale friction stimulation on the surface of 3,4-dinitropyrazole doubled in volume upon aging for half an hour. Over the same time frame, a similar pit on the picric acid surface increased in volume by more than seven-fold. Remarkably, increased humidity was found to reduce the rate of surface rearrangement, potentially offering an origin for the desensitization of energetic materials when wetted. Finally, we identify an inverse correlation between the surface dynamics and mechanical sensitivity of our test energetic compounds. This strongly suggests that surface dynamics influence a material's ability to dissipate excess energy, acting as a buffer towards mechanical initiation.

Abstract
The crystal structure of Blatter's radical (1,3-diphenyl-1,4-dihydrobenzo[e][1,2,4]triazin-4-yl) has been investigated between ambient pressure and 6.07 GPa. The sample remains in a compressed form of the ambient-pressure phase up to 5.34 GPa, the largest direction of strain being parallel to the direction of π-stacking interactions. The bulk modulus is 7.4 (6) GPa, with a pressure derivative equal to 9.33 (11). As pressure increases, the phenyl groups attached to the N1 and C3 positions of the triazinyl moieties of neighbouring pairs of molecules approach each other, causing the former to begin to rotate between 3.42 to 5.34 GPa. The onset of this phenyl rotation may be interpreted as a second-order phase transition which introduces a new mode for accommodating pressure. It is premonitory to a first-order isosymmetric phase transition which occurs on increasing pressure from 5.34 to 5.54 GPa. Although the phase transition is driven by volume minimization, rather than relief of unfavourable contacts, it is accompanied by a sharp jump in the orientation of the rotation angle of the phenyl group. DFT calculations suggest that the adoption of a more planar conformation by the triazinyl moiety at the phase transition can be attributed to relief of intramolecular H...H contacts at the transition. Although no dimerization of the radicals occurs, the π-stacking interactions are compressed by 0.341 (3) Å between ambient pressure and 6.07 GPa.

Abstract
In the title compound, C12H10ClNO3, the dihydroquinoline moiety is not planar with a dihedral angle between the two ring planes of 1.61 (6)°. An intramolecular C—H...O hydrogen bond helps to establish the rotational orientation of the carboxyl group. In the crystal, sheets of molecules parallel to (10\overline{1}) are generated by C—H...O and C—H...Cl hydrogen bonds, and are stacked through slipped π-stacking interactions between inversion-related dihydroquinoline units. A Hirshfeld surface analysis of the crystal structure indicates that the most important contributions for the crystal packing are from H...H (34.2%), H...O/O...H (19.9%), H...Cl/Cl...H (12.8%), H...C/C...H (10.3%) and C...C (9.7%) interactions. Computational chemistry indicates that in the crystal, the C—H...Cl hydrogen-bond energy is −37.4 kJ mol−1, while the C—H...O hydrogen-bond energies are −45.4 and −29.2 kJ mol−1. An evaluation of the electrostatic, dispersion and total energy frameworks revealed that the stabilization is dominated via the dispersion energy contribution. Density functional theory (DFT) optimized structures at the B3LYP/6–311 G(d,p) level are compared with the experimentally determined molecular structure in the solid state, and the HOMO—LUMO behaviour was elucidated to determine the energy gap.
