Abstract
An interesting cascade reaction of N-(2-(4,5-dihydrooxazol-2-yl)phenyl)benzamide in the presence of an acid ion exchange resin is described. In this reaction, a range of substrates bearing various substituent groups are well compatible. This work provides a green and atom-economical alternative approach for the synthesis of quinazolin-4-ones in good yields.

Abstract
An elegantly simple, facile, and robust approach to a scaffold of biological importance, 2,3-dihydroquinazolin-4(1H)-ones, is reported. A catalytic 1% SnCl2/microwave-mediated approach afforded access to pure material, collected by cooling and filtration after 20-min microwave irradiation at 120°C. A total of 41 analogues were prepared in isolated yields of 17–99%. This process was highly tolerant of aliphatic, aromatic, heterocyclic, and acyclic aldehydes, but furan, pyrrole, and thiophene aldehyde reactivity correlated with propensity towards electrophilic addition and/or Diels–Alder addition. As a result, thiophene afforded high yields (80%) whereas pyrrole carboxaldehyde failed to react. With simple cinnamaldehydes, and in the SbCl3-mediated reaction, and with α,β-unsaturated aldehydes the equivalent quinazolin-4(3H)-ones, and not the 2,3-dihydroquinazolin-4(1H)-ones, was favoured.

Abstract
A simple, cost-effective method under environmentally benign conditions is a very important concept for the preparation of 2,3-dihydroquinazolin-4(1H)-one derivatives. The present work describes an efficient and eco-friendly protocol for the synthesis of 2-amino-N-(2-substituted-ethyl)benzamide and 3-substituted-2,3-dihydroquinazolin-4(1H)-one derivatives. The novel feature of this protocol is the use of 2-methyl tetrahydrofuran (2-MeTHF) as an eco-friendly alternative solvent to tetrahydrofuran (THF) in the first step. In the second step, methanol in the presence of potassium carbonate as a catalyst was used under conventional heating or microwave irradiation, which provided an eco-friendly method to afford the target products in excellent yields and purities. NMR (1H and 13C), elemental analysis, and LC-MS confirmed the structures of all compounds. X-ray crystallography further confirmed the structure of the intermediate 2-amino-N-(2-substituted-ethyl)benzamide 3a. The molecular structure of 3a was monoclinic crystal, with P21/c, a = 13.6879 (11) Å, b = 10.2118 (9) Å, c = 9.7884 (9) Å, β = 105.068 (7)°, V = 1321.2 (2) Å3, and Z = 4.

Abstract
A practical iridium-catalyzed cascade/stepwise synthesis of dihydroquinazolinones (DHQs) and bis-DHQs fused to medium to large N-heterocyclic rings is developed. The reaction undergoes benzamide-directed intermolecular C-H amination with an aldehyde-tethered alkyl azide, and then the newly installed amino group undergoes intramolecular cyclization with a remote aldehyde group present in azide and amidyl group of benzamide either intrinsically or catalyzed by phosphoric acid, facilitating the formation of bicyclic and/or tricyclic rings in a very efficient manner.

Abstract
Brønsted acidic ionic liquid was found to be an efficient and recyclable catalyst for the synthesis of benzo[4,5]imidazo[1,2-a]pyrimidines and 2,3-dihydroquinazolin-4(1H)-ones. The reactions proceeded smoothly with a broad scope of substrates providing the expected products in good to excellent yields under an atom-economical pathway. The low-cost recyclable catalyst, metal- and solvent-free conditions, and the ease of product isolation are the highlighted advantages in solving the issue of trace metal contamination in synthesized pharmaceuticals. A facile, efficient, and atom-economic method for preparing benzo[4,5]imidazo[1,2-a]pyrimidines and 2,3-dihydroquinazolin-4(1H)-ones under metal- and solvent-free condition has been developed.![]()
