Abstract
BACKGROUND The aim of this study was to evaluate the predictive value of the hematological parameters in the identification of human cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection in infants less than 3 months. METHODS A single-center, observational study of infants with CMV infection was conducted retrospectively. Routine blood parameters were analyzed in CMV-infected infants and controls with no differences of birthweight, sex, gestational age at birth, and date of admission. Furthermore, receiver-operating curve was used to assess the predictive value of the hematological parameters for CMV infection. RESULTS One hundred ninety cases with CMV infection were studied retrospectively. Compared with the control group, there were significant differences in the white blood cell count, neutrophil count, lymphocyte count, platelet count, hemoglobin, neutrophil-to-lymphocyte (NLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte (PLR), and lymphocyte-to-monocyte (LMR) for the patients with CMV infection (all p < 0.001). The best predicted values for CMV infection based on the area under the curve (AUC) were NLR and PLR with the optimal cut-off value of 0.28 and 65.36. NLR-PLR score of 0, 1, or 2 based on an elevated NLR (>0.28), an elevated PLR (>65.36), or both. NLR-PLR score for CMV infection prediction yielded higher AUC values than NLR or PLR alone (0.760 vs. 0.689, 0.689; p < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS The NLR combined with PLR is potentially useful as a predictor of CMV infection in infants less than 3 months.

Abstract
Background This study investigated patients with diabetes mellitus (DM) and the role of the platelet-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) in comorbid clinically relevant depression (CRD) in these individuals, so as to determine the association between PLR and depression. Material and Methods All data used in this research is originally from the United States National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES). CRD in DM patients was screened via a Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9). PLR was calculated by platelet and lymphocyte counts. The associations between PLR and CRD in DM patients were determined using multivariable logistic regression models, weighted generalized additive models, and receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC). The second outcome was the relationship between suicide tendency and PLR. Results We selected 3537 DM patients from 2009 to 2016 in database. PLR was statistically significantly associated with risk of CRD in diabetic patients (p trend<0.05 in non-adjusted and adjusted model) and had a predictive value (AUC = 0.559). We also found a U-shaped association between PLR and CRD in patients with DM. The break point was 69.2. To the right of 69.2, the OR (95% CI) was 1.00 (1.00, 1.01). To the left of it, the OR (95% CI) was 0.97 (0.95, 1.00). We have found that PLR is not related to suicidal tendencies. Conclusion PLR is an independent risk factor for CRD in DM patients, and the relationship between them is nonlinear. When PLR was around 69.2, patients with diabetes had the lowest risk of depression. Further research is needed to clarify the nonlinear relationship between PLR and depression in DM patients.

Abstract
Background Maternal intrapartum fever has a serious impact on mother and child. However, the corresponding study seems to be in short. Methods The role of inflammatory cells in patients who were diagnosed with intrapartum fever lived in part of Eastern China was evaluated. The obstetrics outcomes, complete blood cell count (CBC) and thereby converted neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet to lymphocyte ratio, monocyte to lymphocyte ratio (MLR), and vaginal secretion were compared in different groups. Results Prepartum values of white blood cell (WBC), red blood cell (RBC), and hemoglobin (Hb) were all a little higher in the febrile group than in the afebrile group, and postpartum WBC in the afebrile group was still higher while postpartum RBC and Hb were inferior to non‐fever maternity. Postpartum NLR and MLR were all higher in the fever group but not preferred overtly difference before delivery. Additionally, the comparison of WBC, RBC, Hb, platelets, neutrophils, and monocytes in prepartum and postpartum all showed significant differences. Conclusion The parturition could bring about the value change of CBC and intrapartum fever might aggravate or alleviate this change. Besides, the intrapartum fever might not be caused mainly by infection and the difference between bacteria and fungus could reflect in the CBC.

Abstract
Objective Receptor activator of NF-κβ ligand (RANKL) is crucial for the development of hepatic insulin resistance and poor glucose uptake; therefore, inhibiting RANKL with Denosumab could improve fasting plasma glucose (FPG) and insulin (FPI). Methods A systematic review was conducted to evaluate the effects of Denosumab on glycemic parameters. PubMed, SCOPUS, EBSCO, and LILACS databases were searched for studies that investigated the effect of Denosumab on FPG, glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c), FPI, and Homeostatic Model Assessment for Insulin Resistance (HOMA1-IR). The pooled standard difference in means (SDM) and 95% confidence intervals (95%CI) were calculated. The results were stratified into (1) Normal Glucose Tolerance (NGT) and (2) Impaired Glucose Tolerance (IGT). Results Six publications (1203 participants) were included. There was a significant association between Denosumab and FPG (SDM = -0.388, 95%CI: -0.705 to -0.070, p = .017) and with HOMA1-IR (SDM = -0.223, 95%CI: -0.388 to -0.058, p = .008), but not for HbA1c and FPI. When stratified by glucose tolerance, the association between Denosumab and FPG, HbA1c, and HOMA1-IR was present for the IGT group. Lastly, Denosumab had a time-dependent effect on HbA1c (slope = -0.037, 95%CI: -0.059 to -0.015, p < .005). Conclusions Denosumab significantly improved glycemic parameters. This outcome was more prominent for subjects with compromised glucose tolerance, positing that Denosumab can be used as a treatment to improve glucose metabolism for persons with pre-diabetes and diabetes.

Abstract
Background The coronavirus pandemic, an infection (coronavirus disease 2019—COVID‐19), caused by severe acute respiratory disease coronavirus 2 (SARS‐CoV‐2), continues to have a strong influence worldwide. Although smoking is a major known risk factor for respiratory infectious disease, the effects of smoking on COVID‐19 are unclear. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the relationship between smoking and important hematologic (lymphocyte count, neutrophil count, platelet count, neutrophil‐lymphocyte ratio [NLR], platelet‐lymphocyte ratio [PLR]), inflammatory, and biochemical biomarkers in the prognosis of hospitalized patients with COVID‐19. Methods In a COVID‐19 pandemic hospital between June and August 2020, 200 adult patients aged over 18 years were hospitalized with COVID‐19 inflammatory and hematologic biomarkers at their first admission and smoking data were selected for this study. Results The rate of smokers was much higher among men (91.5%) than in women (8.5%) (p = 0.001). Neutrophil counts were evaluated and was significantly higher in current smokers (p < 0.001) and ex‐smokers (p = 0.001), and NLR (p = 0.008) and ferritin (p = 0.004) levels were higher than in never smokers. The saturation of patients had a negative significant linear correlation of NLR, PLR, and pack years of smoking. Compared with never smokers, current smokers had higher neutrophil counts (OR = 0.828 [0.750–0.915]; p = 0.041), NLR values (OR = 0.948 [0.910–0.987]; p = 0.009), and CRP levels (OR = 0.994 [0.990–0.999]; p = 0.019). Conclusion Serum neutrophil, NLR, and ferritin levels, which are widely used in determining the prognosis of COVID‐19, were found higher in current smokers/ex‐smokers. These results support the view that a poor prognosis of COVID‐19 is associated with smoking.

Abstract
Background Neutral‐to‐lymphocyte ratio (NLR), lymphocyte‐to‐monocyte ratio (LMR), and platelet‐to‐lymphocyte ratio (PLR) are associated with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‐19) and many diseases, but there are few data about the reference interval (RI) of NLR, LMR, and PLR. Methods The neutrophil count, lymphocyte count, monocyte count, and platelet count of 404,272 Chinese healthy adults (>18 years old) were measured by Sysmex XE‐2100 automatic hematology analyzer, and NLR, LMR, and PLR were calculated. According to CLSI C28‐A3, the nonparametric 95% percentile interval is defined as the reference interval. Results The results of Mann‐Whitney U test showed that NLR (p < .001) in male was significantly higher than that in female; LMR (p < .001) and PLR (p < .001) in male were significantly lower than that in female. Kruskal‐Wallis H test showed that there were significant differences in NLR, LMR, and PLR among different genders and age groups (p < .001). The linear graph showed that the reference upper limit of NLR and PLR increased with age and the reference upper limit of LMR decreases with age in male population. In female population, the reference upper limit of NLR in 50–59 group, LMR in >80 group, and PLR in 70–79 group appeared a trough; the reference upper limit of NLR in >80 group, LMR in 50–59 group, and PLR in 40–49 group appeared peak. Conclusion The establishment of RI for NLR, LMR, and PLR in Chinese healthy adults according to gender and age will promote the standardization of clinical application.

Abstract
PURPOSE To analyze the influence of inflammatory parameters and substitute insulin resistance indices on the risk of type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) development in elderly women, as well as to compare anthropometric measures and metabolic parameters according to the presence of type 2 DM and HbA1c levels. PATIENTS AND METHODS One hundred and twenty elderly women (67.9 ± 6.0 years) were submitted to anthropometric analysis, determination of inflammatory and metabolic parameters. They also underwent indices of lipid accumulation product (LAP), high density triglyceride/lipoprotein ratio (TG/HDL), triglyceride glucose index (TyG), as well as TyG by body mass index (BMI) ratio (TyG-BMI) assessment. RESULTS Body mass index, tumor necrosis factor alpha, interleukin-2, blood glucose, TG, LAP, TG/HDL, TyG and TyG-BMI were significantly higher in elderly women with DM compared to non-diabetic women. LAP ≥ 55.4 (OR = 2.29; P = .027); TyG ≥ 8.8 (OR = 3.52; P < .001) and TyG-BMI ≥ 264.8 (OR = 3.54; P = .001) were identified as risk factors for DM. CONCLUSION High pro-inflammatory parameters, low levels of anti-inflammatory markers and higher levels of substitute insulin resistance indices are risk predictors for DM development in elderly women in primary health care.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Altered level of many hematological parameters such as white blood cells (WBC) and platelet function has been observed in diabetes mellitus (DM) patients. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the WBC and platelet profiles and their association with anthropometric measurement and blood pressure in DM patients and healthy controls. METHOD A comparative cross-sectional study was conducted on a total of 246 participants at the University of Gondar Specialized Referral Hospital. Venous blood with K2 EDTA anticoagulant was drawn and analyzed by using Sysmex KX21N hematology analyzers for WBC and platelet parameters. Data were analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 20. Results were presented as frequency and mean ± standard deviation (SD). The independent sample t test was used to compare quantitative variables between DM and control groups. The bivariate (spearman's rank) correlation was used to analyze continuous variables. A p-value ˂ 0.05 was considered as statistically significant. RESULTS The mean platelet count was significantly higher among diabetics (252.77 ± 77.7) compared to non-diabetic controls (208.22 ± 68), p < 0.001. Similarly, the total WBC count was higher among DM patients (6.95 ± 2.23) than in the controls (6.15 ± 1.95), p = 0.04. A significant negative correlation was also found between neutrophil and duration of illness in DM patients. Besides, there is a significant positive correlation between WBC and lymphocyte number with systolic blood pressure (SBP) in DM patients. CONCLUSION Platelet and WBC count were significantly higher in DM patients than in the controls. Therefore, routine screening and profile checking of those abnormal indices is recommended to minimize DM-related complications.

In studies conducted, it has been concluded that platelet/lymphocyte ratio (PLR), neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR), and mean platelet volume (MPV) are significant indicators of systemic inflammation in various diseases. In the present study, our aim was to examine these parameters in AA patients and to investigate their relationship with the disease. MATERIALS AND METHODS A total of 135 AA patients and 135 healthy controls who did not have any systemic, inflammatory, infectious, or autoimmune diseases were included in this study. Demographic characteristics and complete blood count (CBC) results were analyzed retrospectively and recorded, and statistical analysis was performed. RESULTS PLR, NLR, and MPV values were not differ between AA patients and the control group. CONCLUSION It can be concluded that PLR, NLR, and MPV values are not convenient parameters to show inflammatory response in AA.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the correlation between the platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) and diabetic foot ulcer (DFU) in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). METHOD From January 2018 to August 2019, 206 patients with T2DM admitted to the Central Hospital of Wuhan, China, were enrolled in this study, including 104 patients with DFU (DFU group) and 102 patients without DFU (T2DM group). During the same period, 90 healthy subjects were randomly screened as normal controls (NC group). The correlation between PLR and DFU in patients with T2DM was explored by comparing the PLR of the subjects in the three groups. RESULTS The PLRs of the DFU and T2DM groups were higher than that of the NC group, whereas the PLR of the DFU group was higher than that of the T2DM group (p < 0.05). PLR was positively correlated with the Wagner DFU grade (p < 0.001). Based on logistic regression analysis, PLR was found to be an independent risk factor for DFU (OR =1.029, 95% CI: 1.019 ~ 1.039, p < 0.001). The receiver operating characteristic curve analysis of the PLR showed that the area under the curve of the PLR for predicting diabetic foot ulcer was 0.776 (p < 0.001), and the analysis determined that the optimal critical value of the PLR for predicting DFU was 147.6. CONCLUSION The PLR is significantly elevated in patients with DFU and positively correlated with the Wagner DFU grade, which might be a valuable marker for early diagnosis and assessment of severity of DFU.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Sarcopenic obesity is associated with several negative health outcomes. However, there are only a few studies on the relationship between SO and metabolic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and abnormal lipid metabolism in Chinese adults. The aim of this work was to evaluate the association between SO and hypertension, diabetes, and abnormal lipid metabolism in Chinese adults, and explore the prediction of SO using relevant anthropometric indicators. MATERIALS AND METHODS All participants underwent a questionnaire interview for the collection of demographic data. Thereafter, they underwent physical examination for the measurement of anthropometric variables, which was performed using bioelectrical impedance analysis. Biochemical measurements were determined according to standard laboratory procedures used for the evaluation of blood parameters. RESULTS We included 14,926 patients aged 35-74 years old. The mean age of the participants was 56.75 ± 9.76 years old, and 39.80% of them were male. The mean body mass index (BMI) was 24.94 ± 3.40 kg/m2, and the overall prevalence of SO was 65.1%. The results showed that shorter people; people with faster heart rate; heavier weight; lower waist circumference (WC), BMI, triglyceride level, total cholesterol, and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels; and higher high-density lipoprotein cholesterol level are at risk for SO. CONCLUSION The prevalence of SO is high (65.1%) in Chinese adults aged 35-74 years old. The occurrence of SO is related to hypertension, diabetes, and abnormal lipid metabolism. BMI, WC, and waist-hip ratio may be predictive indicators of SO. The incidence of SO may be reduced by timely intervention and health education for persons at risk of the condition.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Glucose metabolism is frequently impaired in patients with Cushing's syndrome (CS) due to chronic exposure to excess glucocorticoids. Inflammation plays an essential role in the pathophysiology of diabetes mellitus (DM). The present study aimed to investigate the potential associations of inflammatory blood cell parameters, including white blood cell (WBC) count, neutrophil count, neutrophilic granulocyte percentage (NEUT%), lymphocyte count (LYM), and lymphocyte proportion (LYM%), with diabetes mellitus in Cushing's syndrome patients. MATERIALS AND METHODS The cross-sectional study was conducted in Zhongshan Hospital of Fudan University, China. A total of 150 patients with Cushing's syndrome were retrospectively screened from 2017 to 2019. The demographic data, clinical data, and blood samples (lipids, adrenal, glucose, and inflammatory blood cell parameters) were recorded. Statistical analyses were carried out by using the SPSS software package, version 13.0. RESULTS In this study, the prevalence of diabetes mellitus was 38.7% in patients with Cushing's syndrome. Patients with DM had higher WBC, neutrophil, NEUT% levels than patients without DM (p < 0.05). As the NEUT% increased, a stepwise increase in glucose and glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) level was observed. In addition, in the multivariate logistic regression, NEUT% was a significant independent risk factor for DM, regardless of gender, age, body mass index (BMI), and triglyceride and 12 midnight cortisol (12 MN cortisol) level (OR = 2.542, 95% CI 1.337-4.835, p < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS In conclusion, elevated NEUT% level was linked to diabetes in patients with Cushing's syndrome. The neutrophilic granulocyte percentage may be referred to as a new predictor for diabetes in Cushing's syndrome patients.

Abstract
METHODS The male patients with T2DM that admitted to the outpatient internal medicine clinics of our institution between November 2018 and April 2019 were included to the study. According to the age, study population divided into two groups; either younger than 60 years (group I) and 60 years or older (group II). Study parameters were compared between study groups. RESULTS Fasting plasma glucose (FPG) and glycated Hb level (HbA1c) of group I were lower than those of the group II (p = 0.004 for FPG and p = 0.048 for HbA1c). Control level of T2DM was defined as well controlled in 20 (29%) patients in group I and 5 (10.9%) patients in group II (p = 0.02). CONCLUSION Physicians should aware that well controlled T2DM is more common among younger diabetic men compared to older men and try to enhance diabetic regulation level in elderly men by interventions that aimed to improve skeletal muscle or by pharmacologic agents.

Abstract
AIM Hemogram indices were proposed as novel inflammatory markers in chronic conditions and inflammation has substantial role in the pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). We aimed to observe hemogram parameters of type 2 diabetic male subjects with various age groups in well and poorly controlled subsets. METHODS Data of type 2 diabetic men enrolled to the study were recorded from patient files of the institution. Study population were grouped into three according to the age. Group A was consisted of patients younger than 55 years, Group B was consisted of patients aged between 55 and 64 years, and Group C was consisted of patients aged 65 years or older. Data of the study groups were compared. RESULTS Study population was consisted of 130 subjects; 44 in Group A and 43 in each of Groups B and C. Median red cell distribution width (RDW) (p = .04), mean RDW to platelet ratio (RPR) (p = .006), median mean platelet volume to platelet ratio (MPR) (p = .02) levels of the study groups were statistically different. HbA1c level was significantly and positively correlated with RDW (r = 0.45, p < .001), neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR) (r = 0.47, p < .001), mean platelet volume to lymphocyte ratio (MLR) (r = 0.35, p < .001), MPR (r = 0.26, p = .003), and RPR (r = 0.37, p < .001) levels. CONCLUSION Elevated RDW, NLR, MLR, MPR, and RPR levels in diabetic men should trigger the measurement of HbA1c since each were strongly correlated with HbA1c level. Moreover, elevated RDW, NLR, MLR, and RPR could be marker of worse diabetic control in men with T2DM.

Abstract
Objective This study aimed to estimate the importance of complete blood count parameters for predicting the timing of birth in threatened preterm labour cases. Methods We performed a retrospective study of 92 patients who were diagnosed with threatened preterm labour (24–34 gestational weeks). The patients were divided into two groups according to the time of birth (group 1: delivered within the first week after diagnosis; group 2: delivered later than 1 week). We compared characteristics and complete blood count parameters between these two groups. Results There were no significant differences in maternal age, body mass index, gravida, parity, haemoglobin levels, and gestational weeks between the two groups. The mean cervical length was 24.24 ± 3.60 mm in group 1 and 30.70 ± 5.32 mm in group 2. There were significant differences in the neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio, white blood cell count, red cell distribution width (RDW), absolute lymphocyte cell count, and absolute neutrophil cell count between the two groups. Conclusion Maternal serum RDW, the neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio, white blood cell count, absolute lymphocyte cell count, and the absolute neutrophil cell count profile could guide clinicians in predicting the time of birth in threatened preterm labour cases.

Abstract
PURPOSE The aim of this study was to determine the relationships between total lymphocyte count (TLC) and prognosis among inpatients. PATIENTS AND METHODS We retrospectively analyzed data from electronic medical documentation of 54 976 inpatients hospitalized in an urban university hospital during 3 consecutive years (2014-2017). RESULTS TLC was available for 12 651 (23.01%) of the inpatients. Patients with TLC <0.8 G/L constituted about 15% of the inpatients studied and had the highest risk of death, hospital readmission within 14 days, hospital readmission within 30 days and hospital readmission within 1 year, the lowest values for biochemical parameters of nutritional status assessment, and the highest C-reactive protein levels. An increase in TLC was associated with reduced risk of in-hospital death (odds ratio [OR]; 95% confidence interval [CI]): 0.31; 0.27-0.36 and 14-day readmission: 0.78; 0.72-0.86. The risk of in-hospital death associated with the Nutritional Risk Screening 2002 (NRS-2002) score, blood albumin concentration, and the score for the combined values of hemoglobin, TLC, albumin and neutrophils (HLAN) was (OR; 95% CI): 2.44; 2.35-2.53; 0.32; 0.28-0.36; and 0.96; 0.94-0.97; respectively. CONCLUSIONS TLC < 0.8 G/L is associated with the highest risk of in-hospital death, 14-day and 30-day readmission, and longer in-hospital stay. An increase in TLC predicted in-hospital survival and freedom from early readmission with a power similar to or greater than a number of prognostic formulas based on questionnaires (e.g. NRS-2002), biochemical parameters (e.g. albumin) and formulas composed of multiple parameters (e.g. HLAN).

Abstract
BACKGROUND Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is a specific neurovascular complication of diabetes mellitus (DM). Clinically, family history is a widely recognized risk factor for DR, assisting diagnosis and risk strata. However, among a great amount of DR patients without hereditary history like hypertension and diabetes, direct and simple risk factors to assist clinical decisions are still required. Herein, we intend to investigate the associated risk factors for these DR patients based on systemic inflammatory response indexes, neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR). METHODS We consecutively enrolled 1030 patients with a definite diagnosis of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) from the endocrinology department of the Second hospital of People in Yun Nan. Based on funduscopy and family history checking, we excluded patients with a family history of hypertension and diabetes and finally enrolled 264 patients with DR and 206 patients with non-diabetic retinopathy (NDR). Through correlation analysis, univariate and multivariate regression, we further explore the association between NLR, PLR, and DR. On top of that, we investigate the effect of NLR and PLR on risk reclassification of DR. RESULTS Compared with NDR patients, NLR and PLR levels are significantly higher among DR patients (NLR: 2.36 ± 1.16 in DR group versus 1.97 ± 1.06 in NDR group, p < 0.001; PLR: 11.62 ± 4.55 in DR group versus10.56 ± 4.45 in NDR group, p = 0.012). According to univariate analysis, NLR and PLR add risks to DR. After fully adjusting co-founders, NLR, as both continuous and categorical variate, remains an independent risk factor for DR (OR (95%CI): 1.37 (1.06, 1.78) P = 0.018). And though PLR was not independently associated with DR as a continuous variable (OR (95%CI) 1.05 (0.99, 1.11) p = 0.135), the highest quantile of PLR add two-fold increased risk (OR (95%CI) 2.20 (1.05, 4.59) p = 0.037) in the fully adjusted model for DR. In addition, addition of PLR and NLR to the established factor hemoglobin (Hb) improved the discriminability of the model and assisted the reclassification of DR. After combining PLR and NLR the Area under curve (AUC) of Hb based model raised from 0.76 to 0.78, with a category-free net reclassification improvement (NRI) of 0.532 (p < 0.001) and integrated discrimination improvement (IDI) of 0.029 (p < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS Systemic inflammatory response indexes NLR and PLR were associated with the presence of DR among patients without associated family history and contributed to improvements in reclassification of DR in addition to Hb.

Abstract
BACKGROUND To evaluate the association between neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) and the development of retinal vein occlusion. METHODS One hundred and eleven patients and 88 control subjects were enrolled. Retinal vein occlusion diagnosis was clinically made with fundus examination. NLR and PLR values were compared between groups. RESULTS Neutrophil levels were found to be comparable between the two groups (p = 0.47). Lymphocyte levels were lower in retinal vein occlusion patients (p = 0.001). NLR was significantly higher in retinal vein occlusion patients (p = 0.001). Platelet counts were found to be comparable in the two groups (p = 0.75). PLR was significantly higher in retinal vein occlusion patients (p = 0.001). According to the receiver operating characteristic curve analysis, the optimal cut-off values of NLR and PLR to predict retinal vein occlusion were > 1.63 and > 98.50, respectively. CONCLUSIONS The present study showed that higher NLR and PLR were associated with the development of retinal vein occlusion. Also, NLR and PLR may be used as predictive tools for identifying risk for retinal vein occlusion.
