Abstract
The alkylation of C-H bonds (hydroarylation) in aromatic amides with non-activated 1-alkenes using a rhodium catalyst and assisted by an 8-aminoquinoline directing group is reported. The addition of a carboxylic acid is crucial for the success of this reaction. The results of deuterium-labeling experiments indicate that one of deuterium atoms in the alkene is missing, suggesting that the reaction does not proceed through the commonly accepted mechanism for C-H alkylation reactions. Instead the reaction is proposed to proceed through a carbene mechanism. The carbene mechanism is also supported by preliminary DFT calculations.

Abstract
Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are an emerging class of porous materials with attractive properties, however, their practical applications are heavily hindered by their fragile nature. We report herein an effective strategy to transform fragile coordination bonds in MOFs into stable covalent organic bonds under mild annealing decarboxylative coupling reaction conditions, which results in highly stable organic framework materials. This strategy successfully endows intrinsic framework skeletons, porosity and properties of the parent MOFs in the daughter organic framework materials, which exhibit excellent chemical stability under harsh catalytic conditions. Therefore, this work opens a new avenue to synthesize stable organic framework materials derived from MOFs for applications in different fields.

Abstract
Reported herein is the synthesis of benzofused six-membered S-heterocycles by intramolecular dehydrogenative C-S coupling using a modular flow electrolysis cell. The continuous-flow electrosynthesis not only ensures efficient product formation, but also obviates the need for transition-metal catalysts, oxidizing reagents, and supporting electrolytes. Reaction scale-up is conveniently achieved through extended electrolysis without changing the reaction conditions and equipment.

Abstract
Based on the discovery of copper-catalyzed cyclopropanol ring-opening addition to iminium ions, an unprecedented catalytic aerobic C-H oxidation/cyclopropanol cyclization cascade using CuCl2 as the multifunctional catalyst and air as the oxidant was developed to construct the azabicyclo[3.3.1]nonane skeleton, which is widespread in natural products and medicines. Using this method, concise asymmetric total synthesis of the indole alkaloid (-)-suaveoline was achieved. This study not only provides an efficient, low-cost, and environmentally benign method for constructing such bridged frameworks, but also enriches the realm of cyclopropanol chemistry and C-H functionalization.

Abstract
The functionalization of C-H bonds with non-precious metal catalysts is an important research area for the development of efficient and sustainable processes. Herein, we describe the development of iron porphyrin catalyzed reactions of diazoacetonitrile with N-heterocycles yielding important precursors of tryptamines, along with experimental mechanistic studies and proof-of-concept studies of an enzymatic process with YfeX enzyme. By using readily available FeTPPCl, we achieved the highly efficient C-H functionalization of indole and indazole heterocycles. These transformations feature mild reaction conditions, excellent yields with broad functional group tolerance, can be conducted on gram scale, and thus provide a unique streamlined access to tryptamines.

Abstract
The CuI -catalyzed selective α-alkylation of α-amino acid and peptide derivatives with 2-alkyl-1,3-dioxolanes is reported. This oxidative coupling is distinguished by its site-specificity, high diastereoselectivity, and chirality preservation and exhibits absolute chemoselectivity for N-aryl glycine motifs over other amino acid units. Collectively, the method allows for the assembly of challenging quaternary centers, as well as compounds derived from natural products of high structural complexity, which may provide ample opportunities for late-stage functionalization of peptides.

Abstract
Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS, a stable hydrophobic polymer material) sponge-supported nanometer-sized gold can be used as a highly efficient recyclable catalyst for cross-dehydrogenative coupling of tertiary amines with various nucleophiles in water. This PDMS sponge nanometer gold catalyst can provide much better activity than the free nanometer gold in water. The reaction can be scaled up by using an easy-to-build continuous flow reactor. These results indicate the potential application of porous hydrophobic PDMS sponge material as a promising support for highly efficient recyclable catalysts in water.

Abstract
The straightforward capture of oxidized phenothiazines with phenols under aerobic conditions represents a unique cross-dehydrogenative C-N bond-forming reaction in terms of operational simplicity. The mechanism of this cross-dehydrogenative N-arylation of phenothiazines with phenols has been the object of debate, particularly regarding the order in which the substrates are oxidized and their potentially radical or cationic nature. Understanding the selective reactivity of phenols for oxidized phenothiazines is one of the key objectives of this study. The reaction mechanism is investigated in detail by utilizing electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry, radical trap experiments, kinetic isotope effects, and solvent effects. Finally, the key reaction steps are calculated by using density functional theory (DFT) and broken-symmetry open-shell singlet DFT methods to unravel a unique biradical mechanism for the oxidative phenothiazination of phenols.

Abstract
A highly selective CuII‐catalyzed cross‐dehydrogenative ortho‐aminomethylation of phenols with aniline derivatives is described. The corresponding C(sp2)−C(sp3) coupling products were obtained in moderate to excellent yields under mild reaction conditions and with a broad substrate scope. A radical mechanism is proposed.
