Abstract
This report describes a new method for three-component difluoroalkylation and trifluoromethylthiolation/trifluoromethylselenolation of π-bonds via air-stable SCF3 and SeCF3 reagents as free-radical initiators of ethyl iododifluoroacetate. β-Proton elimination can be overcome effectively in this reaction system, and a broad substrate scope, including alkenes and alkynes, makes this approach practical and attractive.

Abstract
The synthesis of pyrazole triflones containing a triflyl group at the 3-position is disclosed. Treatment of 2-diazo-1-phenyl-2-((trifluoromethyl)sulfonyl)ethan-1-one with nitroalkenes under basic conditions gave pharmaceutically attractive pyrazole 3-triflones in good to high yields. The generation of anionic triflyldiazomethane species followed by the [3 + 2] cycloaddition reaction with nitroalkenes is proposed for this transformation. 3-(Difluoromethanesulfonyl)pyrazoles were also synthesized by using a previously unknown anionic (difluoromethanesulfonyl)diazomethane species under a similar strategy.

Abstract
The direct synthesis of aryl triflones, that is, trifluoromethanesulfonyl arenes, was achieved through the trifluoromethanesulfonylation of benzynes. The trifluoromethanesulfonyl group, one of the fluorinated functional groups, is a highly electron-negative and mild lipophilic substituent. Aryl triflones have high potential in the synthesis of bioactive compounds and specialty materials. The treatment of 2-(trimethylsilyl)aryl trifluoromethanesulfonates with cesium fluoride in the presence of 15-crown-5 generated benzynes, which reacted with sodium trifluoromethanesulfinate followed by protonation with tBuOH under heating conditions, provided aryl triflones in moderated to good yields. Both symmetrical and unsymmetrical triflones were nicely accessed under the same reaction conditions. Interestingly, the trifluoromethanesulfonylation of unsymmetrical benzyne precursors proceeded smoothly to furnish corresponding aryl triflones in good yields with good to high regioselectivities. The balance of polarization of electric charge as well as steric hindrance of the benzyne intermediates are central factors to control the outcome of regioselectivity.

Abstract
A selective copper (Cu)-catalyzed C–S bond direct cross-coupling of thiols with 5-arylpenta-2,4-dienoic acid ethyl ester was developed. Notably, various biologically active 5-phenyl-3-phenylsulfanylpenta-2,4-dienoic acid ethyl ester derivatives were efficiently synthesized under moderate conditions. Finally, a plausible Cu(i)/Cu(iii) reaction mechanism was proposed. A selective copper (Cu)-catalyzed C–S bond direct cross-coupling of thiols with 5-arylpenta-2,4-dienoic acid ethyl ester was developed.![]()

Abstract
An efficient palladium-catalyzed Heck-type reaction of secondary trifluoromethylated alkyl bromides has been developed. The reaction proceeds under mild reaction conditions with high efficiency and excellent functional group tolerance, even towards formyl and hydroxy groups. Preliminary mechanistic studies reveal that a secondary trifluoromethylated alkyl radical is involved in the reaction.

Abstract
The graphdiyne family has attracted a high degree of concern because of its intriguing and promising properties. However, graphdiyne materials reported to date represent only a tiny fraction of the possible combinations. In this work, we demonstrate a computational approach to generate a series of conceivable graphdiyne-based frameworks (GDY-Rs and Li@GDY-Rs) by introducing a variety of functional groups (R = -NH2, -OH, -COOH, and -F) and doping metal (Li) in the molecular building blocks of graphdiyne without restriction of experimental conditions and rapidly screen the best candidates for the application of CO2 capture and sequestration (CCS). The pore topology and morphology and CO2 adsorption and separation properties of these frameworks are systematically investigated by combining density functional theory (DFT) and grand canonical Monte Carlo (GCMC) simulations. On the basis of our computer simulations, combining Li-doping and hydroxyl groups strategies offer an unexpected synergistic effect for efficient CO2 capture with an extremely CO2 uptake of 4.83 mmol/g at 298 K and 1 bar. Combined with its superior selectivity (13 at 298 K and 1 bar) for CO2 over CH4, Li@GDY-OH is verified to be one of the most promising materials for CO2 capture and separation.

Abstract
Investigations on the factors that govern unusual branched alkylation of 2-aroylbenzofurans with acrylates by Ru-catalyzed carbonyl-directed C-H activation has been carried out by calculating the kinetics associated with the two key steps-the coordination of the acrylate with the intermediate ruthenacycle and the subsequent migratory insertion reaction-studied with the help of DFT calculations. Eight possible orientations for each mode of alkylation have been considered for the calculations. From these calculations, it has been understood that there is a synergistic operation of the steric and electronic effects favoring the branched alkylation. Further DFT investigations on the alkylation of the isomeric 3-aroylbenzofurans indicated a preference for the linear alkylation and this has been verified experimentally. Overall, the observed/calculated complementary selectivity in the alkylation of 2-/3-aroylbenzofurans with acrylates reveals that the substrate-dependent charge distribution of the Ru-C bond in the intermediate ruthenacycle is an important determining factor and thus the current work opens up a new domain of substrate design for controlling regioselectivity.

Abstract
A palladium-catalyzed C-H bond functionalization of acrylamides was developed to build up stereoselectively trifluoromethylated 1,3-butadienes. Using a tertiary amide as a directing group, olefins were selectively functionalized with 2-bromo-3,3,3-trifluoropropene to access these important fluorinated compounds. The methodology was extended to the construction of pentafluoroethyl-substituted 1,3-dienes. Mechanistic studies supported by density functional theory calculations suggested a redox neutral mechanism for this transformation.

Abstract
Ruthenium(II)-catalyzed meta-selective C-H (di)fluoromethylation was accomplished by phosphine and carboxylate cooperation. The remote C-H functionalization was characterized by ample substrate scope, thereby setting the stage for meta-(di)fluoromethylation through facile C-H cleavage.

Abstract
Copper-catalyzed gem-difluoromethylenation of the C(sp2)–H bonds of alkenes has been developed. This protocol is the first to efficiently achieve gem-difluoromethylenation of C(sp2)–H bonds of unactivated aliphatic terminal olefins and is applied in gem-difluoromethylenation/cyclization of alkenes.
