Abstract
Biphasic calcium phosphate ceramics (BCPs) have been extensively used as a bone graft in dental clinics to reconstruct lost bone in the jaw and peri-implant hard tissue due to their good bone conduction and similar chemical structure to the teeth and bone. However, BCPs are not inherently osteoinductive and need additional modification and treatment to enhance their osteoinductivity. The present study aims to develop an innovative strategy to improve the osteoinductivity of BCPs using unique features of zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF8). In this method, commercial BCPs (Osteon II) were pre-coated with a zeolitic imidazolate framework-8/polydopamine/polyethyleneimine (ZIF8/PDA/PEI) layer to form a uniform and compact thin film of ZIF8 on the surface of BCPs. The surface morphology and chemical structure of ZIF8 modified Osteon II (ZIF8-Osteon) were confirmed using various analytical techniques such as XRD, FTIR, SEM, and EDX. We evaluated the effect of ZIF8 coating on cell attachment, growth, and osteogenic differentiation of human adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (hADSCs). The results revealed that altering the surface chemistry and topography of Osteon II using ZIF8 can effectively promote cell attachment, proliferation, and bone regeneration in both in vitro and in vivo conditions. In conclusion, the method applied in this study is simple, low-cost, and time-efficient and can be used as a versatile approach for improving osteoinductivity and osteoconductivity of other types of alloplastic bone grafts.

Abstract
As the key material of lithium battery, separator plays an important role in isolating electrons, preventing direct contact between anode and cathode, and allowing free passage of lithium ions in the electrolyte. Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) has excellent mechanical, thermodynamic, and electrical insulation properties. This review aims to identify the research progress and development trends of PET-based material for separator application. We retrieved published papers (2004–2019) from the Scientific Citation Index Expanded (SCIE) database of the WoS with a topic search related to PET-based material for separator application. The research progress and development trends were analyzed based on the CiteSpace software of text mining and visualization.

Abstract
This is a novel study about responses of leaf photosynthetic traits and plant mercury (Hg) accumulation of rice grown in Hg polluted soils to elevated CO2 (ECO2). The aim of this study was to provide basic information on the acclimation capacity of photosynthesis and Hg accumulation in rice grown in Hg polluted soil under ECO2 at day, night, and full day. For this purpose, we analyzed leaf photosynthetic traits of rice at flowering and grain filling. In addition, chlorophyll content, soluble sugar and Malondialdehyde (MDA) of rice leaves were measured at flowering. Seed yield, ear number, grain number per ear, 1000-grain weight, total mercury (THg) and methylmercury (MeHg) contents were determined after harvest. Our results showed that Hg polluted soil and ECO2 had no significant effect on leaf chlorophyll content and leaf mass per area (LMA) in rice. The contents of soluble sugar and MDA in leaves increased significantly under ECO2. Mercury polluted soil treatment significantly reduced the light saturated CO2 assimilation rate (Asat) of rice leaves only at flowering, but not at grain filling. Night ECO2 greatly improved rice leaf water use efficiency (WUE). ECO2 greatly increased seed yield and ear number. In addition, ECO2 did not affect THg accumulation in rice organs, but ECO2 and Hg treatment had a significant interaction on MeHg in seeds, husks and roots.

Abstract
The 1,l/-bis(2-phenylethan-1-ol)ferrocene, 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluoro phosphate (BMPF6) and NiO-SWCNTs were used to modify carbon paste electrode (BPOFc/BMPF6/NiO-SWCNTs/CPE), which could act as an electro-catalytic tool for the analysis of N-acetylcysteine in this work. The BPOFc/BMPF6/NiO-SWCNTs/CPE with high electrical conductivity showed two completely separate signals with oxidation potentials of 432 and 970 mV for the first time that is sufficient for the determination of N-acetylcysteine in the presence of theophylline. The BPOFc/BMPF6/NiO-SWCNTs/CPE showed linear dynamic ranges of 0.02–300.0 μM and 1.0–350.0 μM with the detection limit of ~ 8.0 nM and 0.6 μM for the measurement of N-acetylcysteine and theophylline, respectively. In the second part, understanding the nature of interaction, quantum conductance modulation, electronic properties, charge density, and adsorption behavior of N-acetylcysteine on NiO–SWCNTs surface from first-principle studies through the use of theoretical investigation is vital for designing high-performance sensor materials. The N-acetylcysteine molecule was chemisorbed on the NiO–SWCNTs surface by suitable adsorption energies (− 1.102 to − 5.042 eV) and reasonable charge transfer between N-acetylcysteine and NiO–SWCNTs.

Abstract
Lactobacillus brevis is the most common bacteria that causes beer spoilage. In this work, a novel electrochemical immunosensor was fabricated for ultra-sensitive determination of L. brevis. Gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) were firstly electro-deposited on the electrode surface for enhancing the electro-conductivity and specific surface area. Ionic liquid was used for improving the immobilization performance of the immunosensor. After optimization, a linear regression equation can be observed between the ∆current and concentration of L. brevis from 104 CFU/mL to 109 CFU/mL. The limit of detection can be estimated to be 103 CFU/mL.

Abstract
Monitoring heavy metal stress in crops via hyperspectral remote sensing technology is an effective way. A new approach, namely the ratio difference of autocorrelation function first derivative (RDA), is proposed to extract characteristic regions of maize leaves spectra for the initially identification on contaminated category of copper (Cu) and lead (Pb). Simultaneously, empirical mode decomposition (EMD) and power spectral density (PSD) are integrated to construct EMD-PSD to visually discrimination on Cu and Pb stress from frequency domain perspective. In our work, pot experiment contaminated by Cu and Pb were designed and carried out, and corresponding chemical data, chlorophyll and spectra of maize leaves were collected. Based on acquired spectra, RDA is used to obtain indicators and characteristic intervals of spectra, and then EMD-PSD is applied to obtain intrinsic mode functions (IMFs) from spectra and PSD maps. Through experimental analysis, the following conclusions are drawn: 1) the red edge and red shoulder region of spectra can be used as candidate on indicator to find the characteristic regions of spectra, and integrated intersection spectral intervals are considerable to distinguish Cu and Pb; 2) PSD maps extracted by EMD-PSD significantly can discriminate stress of Cu and Pb with three-dimensional visualization. This study takes the combination of spectral domain and frequency domain as the exploration point, the stress of Cu and Pb was distinguished by mutual verification based on spectra (group I and group II and 2014 experiment). In summary, the proposed method can identify the weak differences of spectra and distinguish the stress of Cu and Pb qualitatively, which provides a new perspective for the identification of heavy metal stress categories.

Abstract
An electrochemical voltammogram recording method for plant variety identification is proposed. Electrochemical voltammograms of Vistula, Andromeda, Danuta, Armandii 'Apple Blossom,' Proteus, Hagley Hybrid, Violet Elizabeth, Kiri Te Kanawa, Regina, and Veronica's Choice were recorded using leaf extracts with two solvents under buffer solutions. The voltametric data recorded under different conditions were derived as scatter plots, 2D density patterns, and hot maps for variety identification. In addition, the voltametric data were further used for genetic relationship studies. The dendrogram deduced from the voltammograms was used as evidence for relationship study. The dendrogram deduced from voltametric data suggested the Andromeda, Danuta, Proteus, Regina, and Hagley Hybrid were closely related, while Violet Elizabeth and Veronica's Choice were closely related. In addition, Vistula and Armandii 'Apple Blossom' could be considered outliers among the varieties.

Abstract
In this work, an electrochemical oscillation system has been developed using the Belousov-Zhabotinsky reaction. The effect of the combination of each reagent, reaction temperature, and stirring speed on the induction period, oscillating period, and oscillating life were optimized. The nuts of Prunus persica, Prunus davidiana, and Prunus armeniaca have been widely used for medical purposes. The proposed electrochemical oscillation system was then used for the identification of P. persica, P. davidiana, and P. armeniaca. Three nuts exhibited very different electrochemical oscillation profiles. The dendrogram was divided into three main principal infrageneric clades. Each cluster only contains one species, suggesting that no outlier was observed in this study. Based on the discussed results, we proposed a simple method for herbal medicine identification.

Abstract
Despite the efficiency of ZnO nanoparticle (NPs) composite adsorbents in the adsorption of various pollutants, there is presently no report on the combo of ZnONPs with biomass for adsorption. Besides, there is a dearth of information on the biosorption of celestine blue (CEB), a dye used in the nuclear and textile industry. In this study, biogenic-chemically mediated synthesis of a composite (ZnO@ACP) was prepared by the impregnation of ZnONPs onto Ananas comosus waste (ACP) for the adsorption of CEB. The SEM, EDX, FTIR, XRD, BET, and TGA characterizations showed the successful presence of ZnONPs on the biomass to form a nanocomposite. The uptake of CEB was enhanced by the incorporation of ZnONPs on ACP. A faster CEB adsorption onto ZnO@ACP (120 min) compared to ACP (160 min) was observed. The Langmuir (R2 > 0.9898) and pseudo-second-order (R2 > 0.9518) models were most appropriate in the description of the adsorption process. The impregnation of ZnONPs onto the biomass enhanced the spontaneity of the process and displayed endothermic characteristics. High CEB desorption of 81.3% from the dye loaded ZnO@ACP as well as efficient reusability showed the efficacy of the prepared nanocomposite for CEB adsorption.
