A novel biomimetic electrochemical taste-biosensor based on conformational changes of the taste receptor

Taste sensor, a useful tool which could detect and identify thousands of different chemical substances in liquid environments, has attracted continuous concern from beverage and foodstuff industry and its consumers. Although many taste sensing methods have been extensively developed, the assessment of tastant content remains challenging due to the limitations of sensor selectivity and sensitivity. Here we present a novel biomimetic electrochemical taste-biosensor based on bioactive sensing elements and immune amplification with nanomaterials carrier to address above concerns, while taking sweet taste perception as a model. The proposed biosensor based on ligand binding domain (T1R2 VFT) of human sweet taste receptor protein showed human mimicking character and initiated the application of immune recognition in gustation biosensor, which can precisely and sensitively distinguish sweet substances against other related gustation substances with detection limit of 5.1 pM, far less than that of taste sensors without immune amplification whose detection limit was 0.48 nM. The performance test demonstrated the biosensor has the capacity of monitoring the response of sweet substances in real food environments, which is crucial in practical. This biomimetic electrochemical taste-biosensor can work as a new screening platform for newly developed tastants and disclose sweet perception mechanism.

Dressing Paraffin Wax/Boron Nitride Phase Change Composite with a Polyethylene "Underwear" for the Reliable Battery Safety Management

Phase change material (PCM) can provide a battery system with a buffer platform to respond to thermal failure problems. However, current PCMs through compositing inorganics still suffer from insufficient thermal-transport behavior and safety reliability against external force. Herein, a best-of-both-worlds method is reported to allow the PCM out of this predicament. It is conducted by combining a traditional PCM (i.e., paraffin wax/boron nitride) with a spirally weaved polyethylene fiber fabric, just like the traditional PCM is wearing functional underwear. On the one hand, the spirally continuous thermal pathways of polyethylene fibers in the fabric collaborate with the boron nitride network in the PCM, enhancing the through-plane and in-plane thermal conductivity to 10.05 and 7.92 W m-1 K, respectively. On the other, strong polyethylene fibers allow the PCM to withstand a high puncture strength of 47.13 N and tensile strength of 18.45 MPa although above the phase transition temperature. After this typical PCM packs a triple Li-ion battery system, the battery can be promised reliable safety management against both thermal and mechanical abuse. An obvious temperature drop of >10 °C is observed in the battery electrode during the cycling charging and discharging process.

High Thermal Conductivity and Radiative Cooling Designed Boron Nitride Nanosheets/Silk Fibroin Films for Personal Thermal Management

The implementation of passive cooling strategies is crucial for transitioning from the current high-power- and energy-intensive thermal management practices to more environmentally friendly and carbon-neutral alternatives. Among the various approaches, developing thermal management materials with high thermal conductivity and emissivity for effective cooling of personal and wearable devices in both indoor and outdoor settings poses significant challenges. In this study, we successfully fabricated a cooling patch by combining biodegradable silk fibroin with boron nitride nanosheets. This patch exhibits consistent heat dissipation capabilities under different ambient conditions. Leveraging its excellent radiative cooling efficiency (Rsolar = 0.89 and εLWIR = 0.84) and high thermal conductivity (in-plane 27.58 W m-1 K-1 and out-plane 1.77 W m-1 K-1), the cooling patch achieves significant simulated skin temperature reductions of approximately 2.5 and 8.2 °C in outdoor and indoor conditions, respectively. Furthermore, the film demonstrates excellent biosafety and can be recycled and reused for at least three months. This innovative BNNS/SF film holds great potential for advancing the field of personal thermal management materials.

A promising electrochemical sensor based on PVP-induced shape control of a hydrothermally synthesized layered structured vanadium disulfide for the sensitive detection of a sulfamethoxazole antibiotic

The presence of sulfamethoxazole (SMX) in natural waters has become a significant concern recently because of its detrimental effects on human health and the ecological environment. To address this issue, it is of utmost urgency to develop a reliable method that can determine SMX at ultra-low levels. In our research, we utilized PVP-induced shape control of a hydrothermal synthesis method to fabricate layer-like structured VS2, and employed it as an electrode modification material to prepare an electrochemical sensor for the sensitive determination of SMX. Thus, our prepared VS2 electrodes exhibited a linear range of 0.06-10.0 μM and a limit of detection (LOD) as low as 47.0 nM (S/N = 3) towards SMX detection. Additionally, the electrochemical sensor presented good agreement with the HPLC method, and afforded perfect recovery results (97.4-106.8%) in the practical analysis. The results validated the detection accuracy of VS2 electrodes, and demonstrated their successful applicability toward the sensitive determination of SMX in natural waters. In conclusion, this research provides a promising approach for the development of electrochemical sensors based on VS2 composite materials.

Anisotropic Black Phosphorene Structural Modulation for Thermal Storage and Solar-Thermal Conversion

Exploiting novel strategies for simultaneously harvesting ubiquitous, renewable, and easily accessible solar energy based on the photothermal effect, and efficiently storing the acquired thermal energy plays a vital role in revolutionizing the current fossil fuel-dominating energy structure. Developing black phosphorene-based phase-change composites with optimized photothermal conversion efficiencyand high latent heat is the most promising way to achieve efficient solar energy harvesting and rapid thermal energy storage. However, exfoliating high-quality black phosphorene nanosheets  remains challenging, Furthermore, an efficient strategy that can construct the aligned black phosphorene frameworks to maximize thermal conductivity enhancement is still lacking. Herein, high-quality black phosphorene nanosheets are prepared by an optimized exfoliating strategy. Meanwhile, by regulating the temperature gradient during freeze-casting, the framework consisting of shipshape aligned black phosphorene at long-range is successfully fabricated, improving the thermal conductivity of the poly(ethylene glycol) matrix up to 1.81 W m-1  K-1 at 20 vol% black phosphorene loading. The framework also endows the composite with excellent phase-change material encapsulation capacity and  high latent heat of 103.91 J g-1 . It is envisioned that the work advances the paradigm of contrasting frameworks with nanosheets toward controllable structure thermal enhancement of the composites.

Plasmonic Nanoparticle-Enhanced Optical Techniques for Cancer Biomarker Sensing

This review summarizes recent advances in leveraging localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) nanotechnology for sensitive cancer biomarker detection. LSPR arising from noble metal nanoparticles under light excitation enables the enhancement of various optical techniques, including surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS), dark-field microscopy (DFM), photothermal imaging, and photoacoustic imaging. Nanoparticle engineering strategies are discussed to optimize LSPR for maximum signal amplification. SERS utilizes electromagnetic enhancement from plasmonic nanostructures to boost inherently weak Raman signals, enabling single-molecule sensitivity for detecting proteins, nucleic acids, and exosomes. DFM visualizes LSPR nanoparticles based on scattered light color, allowing for the ultrasensitive detection of cancer cells, microRNAs, and proteins. Photothermal imaging employs LSPR nanoparticles as contrast agents that convert light to heat, producing thermal images that highlight cancerous tissues. Photoacoustic imaging detects ultrasonic waves generated by LSPR nanoparticle photothermal expansion for deep-tissue imaging. The multiplexing capabilities of LSPR techniques and integration with microfluidics and point-of-care devices are reviewed. Remaining challenges, such as toxicity, standardization, and clinical sample analysis, are examined. Overall, LSPR nanotechnology shows tremendous potential for advancing cancer screening, diagnosis, and treatment monitoring through the integration of nanoparticle engineering, optical techniques, and microscale device platforms.

Novel Electronic Health Records-Based Consultation Workflow Improves Time to Operating Room for Vascular Surgery Patients in an Acute Setting

BACKGROUND

Inefficient clinical workflows can have downstream effects of increased costs, poor resource utilization, and worse patient outcomes. The surgical consultation process can be complex with unclear communication, potentially delaying care for patients requiring time-sensitive intervention in an acute setting. A novel electronic health records (EHR)-based workflow was implemented to improve the consultation process. After implementation, we assessed the impact of this initiative in patients requiring vascular surgery consultation.

METHODS

An EHR-driven consultation workflow was implemented at a single institution, standardizing the process across all consulting services. This order-initiated workflow automated notification to clinicians of consult requests, communication of patient data, patient addition to consultants' lists, and tracking consult completion. Preimplementation (1/1/2020-1/31/2022) and postimplementation (2/1/2022-12/4/2022) vascular surgery consultation cohorts were compared to evaluate the impact of this initiative on timeliness of care.

RESULTS

There were 554 inpatient vascular surgery consultations (255 preimplementation and 299 postimplementation); 45 and 76 consults required surgery before and after implementation, respectively. The novel workflow resulted in placement of a consult note 32 min faster than preimplementation (preimplementation: 462 min, postimplementation: 430 min, P = 0.001) for all vascular surgery consults. Furthermore, vascular surgery patients with ASA class III or IV status requiring an urgent or emergent operation were transported to the operating room 63.3% faster after implementation of the workflow (preimplementation: 284 min, postimplementation: 180 min, P = 0.02). There were no differences in procedure duration, postoperative disposition, or intraoperative complication rates.

CONCLUSIONS

We implemented a novel workflow utilizing the EHR to standardize and automate the consultation process in the acute inpatient setting. This institutional initiative significantly improved timeliness of care for vascular surgery patients, including decreased time to operation. Innovations such as this can be further disseminated across shared EHR platforms across institutions, representing a powerful tool to increase the value of care in vascular surgery and healthcare overall.

An Overview to Molecularly Imprinted Electrochemical Sensors for the Detection of Bisphenol A

Bisphenol A (BPA) is an industrial chemical used extensively in plastics and resins. However, its endocrine-disrupting properties pose risks to human health and the environment. Thus, accurate and rapid detection of BPA is crucial for exposure monitoring and risk mitigation. Molecularly imprinted electrochemical sensors (MIES) have emerged as a promising tool for BPA detection due to their high selectivity, sensitivity, affordability, and portability. This review provides a comprehensive overview of recent advances in MIES for BPA detection. We discuss the operating principles, fabrication strategies, materials, and methods used in MIES. Key findings show that MIES demonstrate detection limits comparable or superior to conventional methods like HPLC and GC-MS. Selectivity studies reveal excellent discrimination between BPA and structural analogs. Recent innovations in nanomaterials, novel monomers, and fabrication techniques have enhanced sensitivity, selectivity, and stability. However, limitations exist in reproducibility, selectivity, and stability. While challenges remain, MIES provide a low-cost portable detection method suitable for on-site BPA monitoring in diverse sectors. Further optimization of sensor fabrication and characterization will enable the immense potential of MIES for field-based BPA detection.

A novel electrochemical aptasensor based on eco-friendly synthesized titanium dioxide nanosheets and polyethyleneimine grafted reduced graphene oxide for ultrasensitive and selective detection of ciprofloxacin

Developing a rapid, sensitive, and efficient analytical method for the trace-level determination of highly concerning antibiotic ciprofloxacin (CIP) is desirable to guarantee the safety of human health and ecosystems. In this work, a novel electrochemical aptasensor based on polyethyleneimine grafted reduced graphene oxide and titanium dioxide (rGO/PEI/TiO2) nanocomposite was constructed for ultrasensitive and selective detection of CIP. Through the in-situ electrochemical oxidation of Ti3C2Tx nanosheets, TiO2 nanosheets with good electrochemical response were prepared in a more convenient and eco-friendly method. The prepared TiO2 nanosheets promote charge transferring on electrode interface, and [Fe(CN)6]3-/4- as electrochemical active substance can be electrostatically attracted by rGO/PEI. Thus, electrochemical detection signal of the aptasensor variates a lot after specific binding with CIP, achieving working dynamic range of 0.003-10.0 μmol L-1, low detection limit down to 0.7 nmol L-1 (S/N = 3) and selectivity towards other antibiotics. Additionally, the aptasensor exhibited good agreement with HPLC method at 95% confidence level, and achieved good recoveries (96.8-106.3%) in real water samples, demonstrating its suitable applicability of trace detection of CIP in aquatic environment.

Strategies and Applications of Graphene and Its Derivatives-Based Electrochemical Sensors in Cancer Diagnosis

Graphene is an emerging nanomaterial increasingly being used in electrochemical biosensing applications owing to its high surface area, excellent conductivity, ease of functionalization, and superior electrocatalytic properties compared to other carbon-based electrodes and nanomaterials, enabling faster electron transfer kinetics and higher sensitivity. Graphene electrochemical biosensors may have the potential to enable the rapid, sensitive, and low-cost detection of cancer biomarkers. This paper reviews early-stage research and proof-of-concept studies on the development of graphene electrochemical biosensors for potential future cancer diagnostic applications. Various graphene synthesis methods are outlined along with common functionalization approaches using polymers, biomolecules, nanomaterials, and synthetic chemistry to facilitate the immobilization of recognition elements and improve performance. Major sensor configurations including graphene field-effect transistors, graphene modified electrodes and nanocomposites, and 3D graphene networks are highlighted along with their principles of operation, advantages, and biosensing capabilities. Strategies for the immobilization of biorecognition elements like antibodies, aptamers, peptides, and DNA/RNA probes onto graphene platforms to impart target specificity are summarized. The use of nanomaterial labels, hybrid nanocomposites with graphene, and chemical modification for signal enhancement are also discussed. Examples are provided to illustrate applications for the sensitive electrochemical detection of a broad range of cancer biomarkers including proteins, circulating tumor cells, DNA mutations, non-coding RNAs like miRNA, metabolites, and glycoproteins. Current challenges and future opportunities are elucidated to guide ongoing efforts towards transitioning graphene biosensors from promising research lab tools into mainstream clinical practice. Continued research addressing issues with reproducibility, stability, selectivity, integration, clinical validation, and regulatory approval could enable wider adoption. Overall, graphene electrochemical biosensors present powerful and versatile platforms for cancer diagnosis at the point of care.

High detectivity solar blind photodetector based on mechanical exfoliated hexagonal boron nitride films

As an ultra-wide bandgap semiconductor, hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) has drawn great attention in solar-blind photodetection owing to its wide bandgap and high thermal conductivity. In this work, a metal-semiconductor-metal structural two-dimensional h-BN photodetector was fabricated by using mechanically exfoliated h-BN flakes. The device achieved an ultra-low dark current (16.4 fA), high rejection ratio (R_205nm/R_280nm= 235) and high detectivity up to 1.28 × 10¹¹Jones at room temperature. Moreover, due to the wide bandgap and high thermal conductivity, the h-BN photodetector showed good thermal stability up to 300 °C, which is hard to realize for common semiconductor materials. The high detectivity and thermal stability of h-BN photodetector in this work showed the potential applications of h-BN photodetectors working in solar-blind region at high temperature.

Near-Theoretical Thermal Conductivity Silver Nanoflakes as Reinforcements in Gap-Filling Adhesives

The rapid development of highly integrated microelectronic devices causes urgent demands for advanced thermally conductive adhesives (TCAs) to solve the interfacial heat transfer issue. Due to their natural two-dimensional structure and isotropic thermal conductivity, metal nanoflakes are promising fillers blended with polymer to develop high-performance TCAs. However, achieving corresponding TCAs with thermal conductivity over 10 W m^-1 K^-1 at filler content below 30 vol% remains challenging so far. This longstanding bottleneck is mainly attributed to the fact that most current metal nanoflakes are prepared by "bottom-up" processes (e. g., solution-based chemical synthesis) and inevitably contain lattice defects or impurities, resulting in lower intrinsic thermal conductivities, only 20 - 65% of the theoretical value. Here, a "top-down" strategy by splitting highly purified Ag foil with nanoscale thickness was adopted to prepare two-dimensional Ag nanoflakes with an intrinsic thermal conductivity of 398.2 W m^-1 K^-1 , reaching 93% of the theoretical value. After directly blending with epoxy, the resultant Ag/epoxy exhibited a thermal conductivity of 15.1 W m^-1 K^-1 at low filler content of 18.6 vol%. Additionally, in practical microelectronic cooling performance evaluations, the interfacial heat-transfer efficiency of our Ag/epoxy achieved ≈ 1.4 times that of the state-of-the-art commercial TCA. Highly Sensitive and Selective Dopamine Determination in Real Samples Using Au Nanoparticles Decorated Marimo-like Graphene Microbead-Based Electrochemical Sensors

A sensitive and selective electrochemical dopamine (DA) sensor has been developed using gold nanoparticles decorated marimo-like graphene (Au NP/MG) as a modifier of the glassy carbon electrode (GCE). Marimo-like graphene (MG) was prepared by partial exfoliation on the mesocarbon microbeads (MCMB) through molten KOH intercalation. Characterization via transmission electron microscopy confirmed that the surface of MG is composed of multi-layer graphene nanowalls. The graphene nanowalls structure of MG provided abundant surface area and electroactive sites. Electrochemical properties of Au NP/MG/GCE electrode were investigated by cyclic voltammetry and differential pulse voltammetry techniques. The electrode exhibited high electrochemical activity towards DA oxidation. The oxidation peak current increased linearly in proportion to the DA concentration in a range from 0.02 to 10 μM with a detection limit of 0.016 μM. The detection selectivity was carried out with the presence of 20 μM uric acid in goat serum real samples. This study demonstrated a promising method to fabricate DA sensor-based on MCMB derivatives as electrochemical modifiers.

A Hierarchically Structured Graphene/Ag Nanowires Paper as Thermal Interface Material

With the increase in heat power density in modern integrating electronics, thermal interface materials (TIM) that can efficiently fill the gaps between the heat source and heat sinks and enhance heat dissipation are urgently needed owing to their high thermal conductivity and excellent mechanical durability. Among all the emerged TIMs, graphene-based TIMs have attracted increasing attention because of the ultrahigh intrinsic thermal conductivity of graphene nanosheets. Despite extensive efforts, developing high-performance graphene-based papers with high through-plane thermal conductivity remains challenging despite their high in-plane thermal conductivity. In this study, a novel strategy for enhancing the through-plane thermal conductivity of graphene papers by in situ depositing AgNWs on graphene sheets (IGAP) was proposed, which could boost the through-plane thermal conductivity of the graphene paper up to 7.48 W m^-1 K^-1 under packaging conditions. In the TIM performance test under actual and simulated operating conditions, our IGAP exhibits strongly enhanced heat dissipation performance compared to the commercial thermal pads. We envision that our IGAP as a TIM has great potential for boosting the development of next-generation integrating circuit electronics.

Ultralow Interfacial Thermal Resistance of Graphene Thermal Interface Materials with Surface Metal Liquefaction

Developing advanced thermal interface materials (TIMs) to bridge heat-generating chip and heat sink for constructing an efficient heat transfer interface is the key technology to solve the thermal management issue of high-power semiconductor devices. Based on the ultra-high basal-plane thermal conductivity, graphene is an ideal candidate for preparing high-performance TIMs, preferably to form a vertically aligned structure so that the basal-plane of graphene is consistent with the heat transfer direction of TIM. However, the actual interfacial heat transfer efficiency of currently reported vertically aligned graphene TIMs is far from satisfactory. In addition to the fact that the thermal conductivity of the vertically aligned TIMs can be further improved, another critical factor is the limited actual contact area leading to relatively high contact thermal resistance (20-30 K mm2 W-1) of the "solid-solid" mating interface formed by the vertical graphene and the rough chip/heat sink. To solve this common problem faced by vertically aligned graphene, in this work, we combined mechanical orientation and surface modification strategy to construct a three-tiered TIM composed of mainly vertically aligned graphene in the middle and micrometer-thick liquid metal as a cap layer on upper and lower surfaces. Based on rational graphene orientation regulation in the middle tier, the resultant graphene-based TIM exhibited an ultra-high thermal conductivity of 176 W m-1 K-1. Additionally, we demonstrated that the liquid metal cap layer in contact with the chip/heat sink forms a "liquid-solid" mating interface, significantly increasing the effective heat transfer area and giving a low contact thermal conductivity of 4-6 K mm2 W-1 under packaging conditions. This finding provides valuable guidance for the design of high-performance TIMs based on two-dimensional materials and improves the possibility of their practical application in electronic thermal management.

A highly orientational architecture formed by covalently bonded graphene to achieve high through-plane thermal conductivity of polymer composites

Combining the advantages of high thermal conductivities and low graphene contents to fabricate polymer composites for applications in thermal management is still a great challenge due to the high defect degree of exfoliated graphene, the poor orientation of graphene in polymer matrices, and the horrible phonon scattering between graphene/graphene and graphene/polymer interfaces. Herein, mesoplasma chemical vapor deposition (CVD) technology was successfully employed to synthesize vertically aligned graphene nanowalls (GNWs), which are covalently bonded by high-quality CVD graphene nanosheets. The unique architecture leads to an excellent thermal enhancement capacity of the GNWs, and a corresponding composite film with a matrix of polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) presented a high through-plane thermal conductivity of 12.8 ± 0.77 W m^-1 K^-1 at a low filler content of 4.0 wt%, resulting in a thermal conductivity enhancement per 1 wt% graphene loading of 1659, which is far superior to that using conventional graphene structures as thermally conductive pathways. In addition, this composite exhibited an excellent capability in cooling a high-power light-emitting diode (LED) device under real application conditions. Our finding provides a new route to prepare high-performance thermal management materials with low filler loadings via the rational design of the microstructures/interfaces of graphene skeletons.

Relationship between graphene and pedosphere: A scientometric analysis

The mass production and application of graphene have gradually expanded from academic research to industrial applications, which will inevitably lead to graphene entering the soil actively and passively. Therefore, the relationship between graphene and the pedosphere has attracted a lot of attention in the last decade. The most important question is whether graphene will harm soil health. Fortunately, the evidence is that graphene can alter soil physicochemical properties and microbial communities to some extent, but not dramatically. On this basis, the role of graphene in soil has been investigated in all directions. This review summarizes the literature on the relationship between graphene and soils. Topics include remediation and sensing of soil using graphene materials, the effects of graphene on soil, and the effects of graphene in soil on plant growth. At the same time, this review also uses bibliometrics to review the history of the topic. The number of papers published each year, participating countries, participating institutions and important articles were analyzed in detail. Finally, based on the published literature, we described the future perspectives of graphene and the pedosphere.

Enhanced thermal transportation across an electrostatic self-assembly of black phosphorene and boron nitride nanosheets in flexible composite films

For effective heat dissipation in portable electronics, there is a great demand for lightweight and flexible films with superior thermal transport properties. Despite extensive efforts, enhancing the intrinsic low thermal conductivity of polymers while simultaneously maintaining their flexibility is difficult to achieve due to the dilemma of quarrying appropriate filler loading. Herein, a cellulose nanofiber-based film with high in-plane thermal conductivity up to 72.53 W m^-1 K^-1 was obtained by harnessing the advantage of functionalized boron nitride nanosheets (f-BNNS) and black phosphorene (BP) via the vacuum filtration process. Besides, our unique design based on the electrostatic coupling of black phosphorene and functionalized boron nitride nanosheets significantly reduced the interfacial thermal resistance of the composite films. This work offers new insights into establishing a facile, yet efficient approach to preparing high thermal conductive heat spreaders.

Enhanced Electromagnetic Shielding and Thermal Conductive Properties of Polyolefin Composites with a Ti3C2Tx MXene/Graphene Framework Connected by a Hydrogen-Bonded Interface

The rapid increase of operation speed, transmission efficiency, and power density of miniaturized devices leads to a rising demand for electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding and thermal management materials in the semiconductor industry. Therefore, it is essential to improve both the EMI shielding and thermal conductive properties of commonly used polyolefin components (such as polyethylene (PE)) in electronic systems. Currently, melt compounding is the most common method to fabricate polyolefin composites, but the difficulty of filler dispersion and high resistance at the filler/filler or filler/matrix interface limits their properties. Here, a fold fabrication strategy was proposed to prepare PE composites by incorporation of a well-aligned, seamless graphene framework premodified with MXene nanosheets into the matrix. We demonstrate that the physical properties of the composites can be further improved at the same filler loading by nanoscale interface engineering: the formation of hydrogen bonds at the graphene/MXene interface and the development of a seamlessly interconnected graphene framework. The obtained PE composites exhibit an EMI shielding property of ∼61.0 dB and a thermal conductivity of 9.26 W m^-1 K^-1 at a low filler content (∼3 wt %, including ∼0.4 wt % MXene). Moreover, other thermoplastic composites with the same results can also be produced based on our method. Our study provides an idea toward rational design of the filler interface to prepare high-performance polymer composites for use in microelectronics and microsystems.

Intuitionistic Fuzzy Weighted Least Squares Twin SVMs

Fuzzy membership is an effective approach used in twin support vector machines (SVMs) to reduce the effect of noise and outliers in classification problems. Fuzzy twin SVMs (TWSVMs) assign membership weights to reduce the effect of outliers, however, it ignores the positioning of the input data samples and hence fails to distinguish between support vectors and noise. To overcome this issue, intuitionistic fuzzy TWSVM combined the concept of intuitionistic fuzzy number with TWSVMs to reduce the effect of outliers and distinguish support vectors from noise. Despite these benefits, TWSVMs and intuitionistic fuzzy TWSVMs still suffer from some drawbacks as: 1) the local neighborhood information is ignored among the data points and 2) they solve quadratic programming problems (QPPs), which is computationally inefficient. To overcome these issues, we propose a novel intuitionistic fuzzy weighted least squares TWSVMs for classification problems. The proposed approach uses local neighborhood information among the data points and also uses both membership and nonmembership weights to reduce the effect of noise and outliers. The proposed approach solves a system of linear equations instead of solving the QPPs which makes the model more efficient. We evaluated the proposed intuitionistic fuzzy weighted least squares TWSVMs on several benchmark datasets to show the efficiency of the proposed model. Statistical analysis is done to quantify the results statistically. As an application, we used the proposed model for the diagnosis of Schizophrenia disease.

Graphene-based electrochemical sensors for antibiotic detection in water, food and soil: A scientometric analysis in CiteSpace (2011-2021)

The residues of antibiotics in the environment pose a potential health hazard, so highly sensitive detection of antibiotics has always appealed to analytical chemists. With the widespread use of new low-dimensional materials, graphene-modified electrochemical sensors have emerged as an excellent candidate for highly sensitive detection of antibiotics. Graphene, its derivatives and its composites have been used in this field of exploration in the last decade. In this review, we have not only described the field using traditional summaries, but also used bibliometrics to quantify the development of the field. The literature between 2011 and 2021 was included in the analysis. Also, the sensing performance and detection targets of different sensors were compared. We were able to trace not only the flow of research themes, but also the future areas of development. Graphene is a material that has a high potential to be used on a large scale in the preparation of electrochemical sensors. How to design a sensor with selectivity and low cost is the key to bring this material from the laboratory to practical applications.

Constructing a three-dimensional nano-crystalline diamond network within polymer composites for enhanced thermal conductivity

In order to meet the requirement of thermal performance with the rapid development of high-performance electronic devices, constructing a three-dimensional thermal transport skeleton is an effective method for enhancing the thermal conductivity of polymer composites. In this work, a three-dimensional porous diamond framework was prepared by depositing nano-crystalline diamond on alumina foam which was impregnated with epoxy to obtain a nano-crystalline diamond@alumina foam/epoxy composite. The epoxy composite with nano-crystalline diamond@alumina foam demonstrated a thermal conductivity of 2.21 W m^-1 K^-1, which was increased by 1063% in comparison with pure epoxy. The thermal conductivity of the epoxy composite measured under various conditions and heat transport applications demonstrates that it possesses excellent thermal transportation and stability properties. This work provides a new idea to significantly enhance the thermal transportation properties of epoxy composites in the application of advanced packaging materials.

A Double-Deck Structure of Reduced Graphene Oxide Modified Porous Ti3C2Tx Electrode towards Ultrasensitive and Simultaneous Detection of Dopamine and Uric Acid

Considering the vital physiological functions of dopamine (DA) and uric acid (UA) and their coexistence in the biological matrix, the development of biosensing techniques for their simultaneous and sensitive detection is highly desirable for diagnostic and analytical applications. Therefore, Ti₃C₂T_x/rGO heterostructure with a double-deck layer was fabricated through electrochemical reduction. The rGO was modified on a porous Ti₃C₂T_x electrode as the biosensor for the detection of DA and UA simultaneously. Debye length was regulated by the alteration of rGO mass on the surface of the Ti₃C₂T_x electrode. Debye length decreased with respect to the rGO electrode modified with further rGO mass, indicating that fewer DA molecules were capable of surpassing the equilibrium double layer and reaching the surface of rGO to achieve the voltammetric response of DA. Thus, the proposed Ti₃C₂T_x/rGO sensor presented an excellent performance in detecting DA and UA with a wide linear range of 0.1-100 μM and 1-1000 μM and a low detection limit of 9.5 nM and 0.3 μM, respectively. Additionally, the proposed Ti₃C₂T_x/rGO electrode displayed good repeatability, selectivity, and proved to be available for real sample analysis.

Enhanced Thermal Conductivity of Polymer Composite by Adding Fishbone-like Silicon Carbide

The rapid development of chip technology has all put forward higher requirements for highly thermally conductive materials. In this work, a new type of material of Fishbone-like silicon carbide (SiC) material was used as the filler in a polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) matrix. The silicon carbide/polyvinylidene fluoride (SiC/PVDF) composites were successfully prepared with different loading by a simple mixing method. The thermal conductivity of SiC/PVDF composite reached 0.92 W m-1 K-1, which is 470% higher than that of pure polymer. The results show that using the filler with a new structure to construct thermal conductivity networks is an effective way to improve the thermal conductivity of PVDF. This work provides a new idea for the further application in the field of electronic packaging.

Tailoring Highly Ordered Graphene Framework in Epoxy for High-Performance Polymer-Based Heat Dissipation Plates

As the power density and integration level of electronic devices increase, there are growing demands to improve the thermal conductivity of polymers for addressing the thermal management issues. On the basis of the ultrahigh intrinsic thermal conductivity, graphene has exhibited great potential as reinforcing fillers to develop polymer composites, but the resultant thermal conductivity of reported graphene-based composites is still limited. Here, an interconnected and highly ordered graphene framework (HOGF) composed of high-quality and horizontally aligned graphene sheets was developed by a porous film-templated assembly strategy, followed by a stress-induced orientation process and graphitization post-treatment. After embedding into the epoxy (EP), the HOGF/EP composite (24.7 vol %) exhibits a record-high in-plane thermal conductivity of 117 W m^-1 K^-1, equivalent to ≈616 times higher than that of neat epoxy. This thermal conductivity enhancement is mainly because the HOGF as a filler concurrently has high intrinsic thermal conductivity, relatively high density, and a highly ordered structure, constructing superefficient phonon transport paths in the epoxy matrix. Additionally, the use of our HOGF/EP as a heat dissipation plate was demonstrated, and it achieved 75% enhancement in practical thermal management performance compared to that of conventional alumina for cooling the high-power LED.

Electrochemical Fingerprint Biosensor for Natural Indigo Dye Yielding Plants Analysis

Indigo is a plant dye that has been used as an important dye by various ancient civilizations throughout history. Today, due to environmental and health concerns, plant indigo is re-entering the market. Strobilanthes cusia (Nees) Kuntze is the most widely used species in China for indigo preparation. However, other species under Strobilanthes have a similar feature. In this work, 12 Strobilanthes spp. were analyzed using electrochemical fingerprinting technology. Depending on their electrochemically active molecules, they can be quickly identified by fingerprinting. In addition, the fingerprint obtained under different conditions can be used to produce scattered patter and heatmap. These patterns make plant identification more convenient. Since the electrochemically active components in plants reflect the differences at the gene level to some extent, the obtained electrochemical fingerprints are further used for the discussion of phylogenetics.

Impact of acute stress on cortical electrical activity and cardiac autonomic coupling

Assessment of heart rate variability (reflective of the cardiac autonomic nervous system) has shown some predictive power for stress. Further, the predictive power of the distinct patterns of cortical brain activity and - cardiac autonomic interactions are yet to be explored in the context of acute stress, as assessed by an electrocardiogram and electroencephalogram. The present study identified distinct patterns of neural-cardiac autonomic coupling during both resting and acute stress states. In particular, during the stress task, frontal delta waves activity was positively associated with low-frequency heart rate variability and negatively associated with high-frequency heart rate variability. Low high-frequency power is associated with stress and anxiety and reduced vagal control. A positive association between resting high-frequency heart rate variability and frontocentral gamma activity was found, with a direct inverse relationship of low-frequency heart rate variability and gamma wave coupling at rest. During the stress task, low-frequency heart rate variability was positively associated with frontal delta activity. That is, the parasympathetic nervous system is reduced during a stress task, whereas frontal delta wave activity is increased. Our findings suggest an association between cardiac parasympathetic nervous system activity and frontocentral gamma and delta activity at rest and during acute stress. This suggests that parasympathetic activity is decreased during acute stress, and this is coupled with neuronal cortical prefrontal activity. The distinct patterns of neural-cardiac coupling identified in this study provide a unique insight into the dynamic associations between brain and heart function during both resting and acute stress states.

Surface Modification Using Polydopamine-Coated Liquid Metal Nanocapsules for Improving Performance of Graphene Paper-Based Thermal Interface Materials

Given the thermal management problem aroused by increasing power densities of electronic components in the system, graphene-based papers have raised considerable interest for applications as thermal interface materials (TIMs) to solve interfacial heat transfer issues. Significant research efforts have focused on enhancing the through-plane thermal conductivity of graphene paper; however, for practical thermal management applications, reducing the thermal contact resistance between graphene paper and the mating surface is also a challenge to be addressed. Here, a strategy aimed at reducing the thermal contact resistance between graphene paper and the mating surface to realize enhanced heat dissipation was demonstrated. For this, graphene paper was decorated with polydopamine EGaIn nanocapsules using a facile dip-coating process. In practical TIM application, there was a decrease in the thermal contact resistance between the TIMs and mating surface after decoration (from 46 to 15 K mm2 W-1), which enabled the decorated paper to realize a 26% enhancement of cooling efficiency compared with the case without decoration. This demonstrated that this method is a promising route to enhance the heat dissipation capacity of graphene-based TIMs for practical electronic cooling applications.

Ultrahigh-Aspect-Ratio Boron Nitride Nanosheets Leading to Superhigh In-Plane Thermal Conductivity of Foldable Heat Spreader

The rapid development of integrated circuits and electronic devices creates a strong demand for highly thermally conductive yet electrically insulating composites to efficiently solve "hot spot" problems during device operation. On the basis of these considerations, hexagonal boron nitride nanosheets (BNNS) have been regarded as promising fillers to fabricate polymer matrix composites. However, so far an efficient approach to prepare ultrahigh-aspect-ratio BNNS with large lateral size while maintaining an atomically thin nature is still lacking, seriously restricting further improvement of the thermal conductivity for BNNS/polymer composites. Here, a rapid and high-yield method based on a microfluidization technique is developed to obtain exfoliated BNNS with a record high aspect ratio of ≈1500 and a low degree of defects. A foldable and electrically insulating film made of such a BNNS and poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) matrix through filtration exhibits an in-plane thermal conductivity of 67.6 W m^-1 K^-1 at a BNNS loading of 83 wt %, leading to a record high value of thermal conductivity enhancement (≈35 500). The composite film then acts as a heat spreader for heat dissipation of high-power LED modules and shows superior cooling efficiency compared to commercial flexible copper clad laminate. Our findings provide a practical route to produce electrically insulating polymer composites with high thermal conductivity for thermal management applications in modern electronic devices.

Early sex determination of Ginkgo biloba based on the differences in the electrocatalytic performance of extracted peroxidase

Ginkgo biloba is a dioecious plant. Male ginkgoes are mainly used in landscaping, while females are mainly used for fruit production. However, sex identification of ginkgo is a difficult task, especially at the seedling stage. In this work, we present for the first time the use of electrochemical techniques for the identification of ginkgo sex based on the differences in peroxides within male and female ginkgos. Graphene was used to concentrate peroxides in ginkgo extract, thereby improving electrochemical signal sensitivity. The electrochemical reduction of hydrogen peroxide catalyzed by peroxidase was used as a prob for sex determination in ginkgo. This electrochemical identification technique can be used not only for the analysis of adult ginkgo, but also successfully for the analysis of tissue culture seedlings and live seedlings. This electrochemical sensor has excellent discrimination ability due to the difference in peroxidase content in the leaves and petiole of ginkgo of different sexes. This electrochemical sensor allows for a rapid identification of the sex of ginkgo and has a very strong potential for field analysis.

Intertwined Carbon Nanotubes and Ag Nanowires Constructed by Simple Solution Blending as Sensitive and Stable Chloramphenicol Sensors

Chloramphenicol (CAP) is a harmful compound associated with human hematopathy and neuritis, which was widely used as a broad-spectrum antibacterial agent in agriculture and aquaculture. Therefore, it is significant to detect CAP in aquatic environments. In this work, carbon nanotubes/silver nanowires (CNTs/AgNWs) composite electrodes were fabricated as the CAP sensor. Distinguished from in situ growing or chemical bonding noble metal nanomaterials on carbon, this CNTs/AgNWs composite was formed by simple solution blending. It was demonstrated that CNTs and AgNWs both contributed to the redox reaction of CAP in dynamics, and AgNWs was beneficial in thermodynamics as well. The proposed electrochemical sensor displayed a low detection limit of up to 0.08 μM and broad linear range of 0.1-100 μM for CAP. In addition, the CNTs/AgNWs electrodes exhibited good performance characteristics of repeatability and reproducibility, and proved suitable for CAP analysis in real water samples.

First-principles study of magnetism in some novel MXene materials

Magnetic two-dimensional materials have gained considerable attention in recent years due to their special topologies and promising applications in electronic and spintronic devices. As a new family of two-dimensional materials, MXene materials may have unusual magnetic properties. In this work, the structural stabilities and electronic properties of 1H and 1T type pristine M₂C (M = Sc, Ti, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn) MXenes with different magnetic configurations were calculated and compared. The critical temperatures of the magnetic MXenes were evaluated through Monte Carlo simulations using the spin–exchange coupling parameters. The results suggest that the ground-state 1T-Ti₂C and 1T-Fe₂C, 1H-Co₂C MXenes are antiferromagnetic or ferromagnetic materials with high Néel or Curie temperatures. Different from the other pristine M₂C MXenes with metallic properties, indirect band gaps were found for the 1T-Ti₂C and 1T-Ni₂C MXenes, which may be useful for their application in information storage or sensors. The findings are expected to promote the development of novel devices based on MXenes and their magnetic properties.

Electrochemical Voltammogram Recording for Identifying Varieties of Ornamental Plants

An electrochemical voltammogram recording method for plant variety identification is proposed. Electrochemical voltammograms of Vistula, Andromeda, Danuta, Armandii 'Apple Blossom,' Proteus, Hagley Hybrid, Violet Elizabeth, Kiri Te Kanawa, Regina, and Veronica's Choice were recorded using leaf extracts with two solvents under buffer solutions. The voltametric data recorded under different conditions were derived as scatter plots, 2D density patterns, and hot maps for variety identification. In addition, the voltametric data were further used for genetic relationship studies. The dendrogram deduced from the voltammograms was used as evidence for relationship study. The dendrogram deduced from voltametric data suggested the Andromeda, Danuta, Proteus, Regina, and Hagley Hybrid were closely related, while Violet Elizabeth and Veronica's Choice were closely related. In addition, Vistula and Armandii 'Apple Blossom' could be considered outliers among the varieties.

Dually enhanced homogenous synthesis of molybdophosphate by hybridization chain reaction and enzyme nanotags for the electrochemical bioassay of carcinoembryonic antigen

A magnetic bead (MB)-based sandwich biorecognition reactions is combined with a gold nanoprobe-induced homogenous synthesis of molybdophosphate to develop a novel bioassay method for the electrochemical detection of the tumor biomarker of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA). The nanoprobe is prepared through the specific loading of numerous alkaline phosphatase (ALP)-functionalized gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) on a double-stranded DNA (dsDNA) produced by the CEA aptamer-triggered hybridization chain reaction (HCR). Both the large amounts of PO₄^3- produced by the ALP catalytic hydrolysis of pyrophosphate and the phosphate backbones of dsDNA can react with the added MoO₄^2- to generate electroactive molybdophosphates. So, the gold nanoprobe was used for signal tracing of the sandwich bioassay of CEA at a constructed antibody-functionalized MB platform. The sensitive electrochemical measurement of molybdophosphate produced from the quantitatively captured nanoprobes at a carbon nanotube-modified electrode (measured at about 0.12 V vs. Ag/AgCl, 3 M KCl) enabled the convenient signal transduction of the method. Due to the dually enhanced synthesis of molybdophosphate by the HCR and multi-enzyme Au NP nanotags, this method shows a wide linear range from 0.05 pg mL^-1 to 10 ng mL^-1 along with a low detection limit of 0.027 pg mL^-1. In addition, the MB-based biorecognition reaction and the homogeneous synthesis of molybdophosphate are much convenient in manipulations. These excellent performances decide the extensive application potentials of the method. ZnO nanoflowers modified with RuO2 for enhancing acetone sensing performance

Surface modification is a simple and effective means to promote the sensing performance of metal oxide semiconductor-based gas sensors. Marigold-shaped ZnO nanoflowers are fabricated via a simple precipitation reaction and subsequently catalytically modified with RuO₂ on the surface through an ethylene glycol solvothermal treatment. The experimental results have proven that a very low content of Ru on the surface of ZnO exists in an oxidized state. However, the gas response of the sensor based on RuO₂-modified ZnO is remarkably improved by 17 times to 100 ppm acetone with the decrease of optimal operating temperature from 219 °C-172 °C and reduction in recovery time from 79-52 s. The sensing enhancement mechanism of surface modification can be attributed to the formation of massive small heterostructure between p-type RuO₂ ultrasmall nanoparticles and n-type ZnO as well as the catalytic effect of Ru⁴⁺ and a rougher surface.

Electrochemical Sex Determination of Dioecious Plants Using Polydopamine-Functionalized Graphene Sheets

The rapid identification of sex has potential uses involving dioecious commercial plants. In this work, we first propose a rapid electrochemical analysis method for plant sex determination using the signal difference generated by the electrochemically active substances in plant tissue. Polydopamine-functionalized graphene was wrapped around plant tissue. The introduction of polydopamine-functionalized graphene could solve the problem of the instability of plant tissue immobilization and enhance the electrochemical signals from plant tissue. Taxus × media, Dioscorea zingiberensis, and Dioscorea bulbifera were deliberately selected as dioecious plant models due to their pharmaceutical applications. The sex of the plant was not obvious after simply comparing the electrochemical voltammograms. Scatter patterns and 3D surface patterns were generated based on the voltammograms recorded after different solvent extractions. Sex determination was successfully achieved by pattern recognition.

Enzymatic deposition of gold nanoparticles at vertically aligned carbon nanotubes for electrochemical stripping analysis and ultrasensitive immunosensing of carcinoembryonic antigen

Herein we combine the sandwich immunoreaction at a vertically aligned single-walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT)-based immunosensor and the enzymatically catalytic deposition of gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) by a gold nanoprobe to develop a novel electrochemical immunosensing method. The vertically arranged nanostructure was prepared through the covalent linking of terminally carboxylated SWCNTs at an aryldiazonium-modified electrode. It not only provides an excellent platform for the high density immobilization of antibodies to obtain the immunosensor but also serves as useful molecular wires to accelerate electron transfer during the electrochemical immunosensing process. Meanwhile, the enzymatic reaction of the nanoprobe prepared by surface functionalization of the nanocarrier of Au NPs by high-content glucoamylases can catalyze the deposition of a large number of Au NPs at the immunosensor. The electrochemical stripping analysis of these nanoparticles enabled the convenient signal transduction of the method. Due to the sensitive gold stripping analysis at the vertically aligned SWCNTs and the multi-enzyme signal amplification of the nanoprobe, the electrochemical signal response was greatly enhanced. Thus, the method can be used for the ultrasensitive detection of the tumor biomarker of carcinoembryonic antigen in a wide linear range of 5 orders of magnitude with a low detection limit of 0.48 pg mL^-1. Considering its obvious performance superiorities, this immunosensing method exhibits an extensive prospect for practical applications.

Two-dimensional semiconducting Lu2CT2 (T = F, OH) MXene with low work function and high carrier mobility

As a new family of two-dimensional materials, MXenes have attracted increasing attention in recent years due to their widespread potential applications. In contrast to early transition metals in convention, here we expand the M element of MXene to the rare earth element lutetium. Based on the first-principles density functional calculations, the bare lutetium-based carbide MXene Lu₂C is determined to be stabilized in the T-type configuration. Furthermore, both fluorine and hydroxyl terminated configurations are found to be semiconductors, and their band gaps are suitable for use in semiconductors and visible and near-infrared optical devices. The Lu₂C(OH)₂ configuration shows a direct band gap and possesses an ultralow work function of 1.4 eV. Both Lu₂CT₂ (T = F, OH) MXenes exhibit high carrier mobilities. Particularly, the electron mobility of the Lu₂C(OH)₂ MXene is found to be anisotropic at room temperature, with values as high as 95.19 × 10³ and 217.1 × 10³ cm² V^-1·s^-1 in the zigzag and armchair directions, respectively, which makes Lu₂C(OH)₂ a promising material for nanodevices. Based on these predicted properties, our work widens the range of MXene materials and their applications in semiconducting devices.

β-Cyclodextrin-Immobilized Ni/Graphene Electrode for Electrochemical Enantiorecognition of Phenylalanine

In this work, a Ni/graphene (Ni/G) electrode was designed and fabricated by plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) for the ultrasensitive recognition of d- and l-phenylalanine. Through a single-step PECVD process, the Ni/G electrode can achieve better hydrophilicity and larger catalytic surface area, which is beneficial for the electrochemical recognition of bio-objects. After surface modification with β-cyclodextrin, the Ni/G electrode can distinguish d-phenylalanine from l-phenylalanine according to a 0.09 V peak shift in differential pulse voltammetry tests. Moreover, this Ni/G electrode achieved a detection limit as low as 1 nM and a wide linear range from 1 nM to 10 mM toward l-phenylalanine, with great storage stability and working stability.

Efficient Thermal Transport Highway Construction Within Epoxy Matrix via Hybrid Carbon Fibers and Alumina Particles

Polymer composites with excellent thermal conductivity and superior mechanical strength are in high demand in the electrical engineering systems. However, achieving superior thermal conductivity and mechanical properties simultaneously at high loading of fillers will still be a challenging issue. In this work, a facile method was proposed to prepare the epoxy composite with carbon fibers (CFs) and alumina (Al₂O₃). This CF and Al₂O₃ hybrid structure can effectively reduce the interfacial thermal resistance between the matrix and the CFs. The thermal conductivity of epoxy composite with 6.4 wt % CFs and 74 wt % Al₂O₃ hybrid filler reaches 3.84 W/(m K), which is increasing by 2096% compared with that of pure epoxy. Meanwhile, the epoxy composite still retains outstanding thermal stability and mechanical performance at high filler loading. A cost-effective avenue to prepare highly thermally conductive and superior mechanical properties of polymer-based composites may enable some prospective application in advanced thermal management.

3D Shapeable, Superior Electrically Conductive Cellulose Nanofibers/Ti3C2Tx MXene Aerogels/Epoxy Nanocomposites for Promising EMI Shielding

In this work, 3D highly electrically conductive cellulose nanofibers (CNF)/Ti₃C₂T_x MXene aerogels (CTA) with aligned porous structures are fabricated by directional freezing followed by freeze-drying technique, and the thermally annealed CTA (TCTA)/epoxy nanocomposites are then fabricated by thermal annealing of CTA, subsequent vacuum-assisted impregnation and curing method. Results show that TCTA/epoxy nanocomposites possess 3D highly conductive networks with ultralow percolation threshold of 0.20 vol% Ti₃C₂T_x. When the volume fraction of Ti₃C₂T_x is 1.38 vol%, the electrical conductivity (σ), electromagnetic interference shielding effectiveness (EMI SE), and SE divided by thickness (SE/d) values of the TCTA/epoxy nanocomposites reach 1672 S m^-1, 74 dB, and 37 dB mm^-1, respectively, which are almost the highest values compared to those of polymer nanocomposites reported previously at the same filler content. In addition, compared to those of the samples without Ti₃C₂T_x, the storage modulus and heat-resistance index of TCTA/epoxy nanocomposites are enhanced to 9792.5 MPa and 310.7°C, increased by 62% and 6.9°C, respectively, presenting outstanding mechanical properties and thermal stabilities. The fabricated lightweight, easy-to-process, and shapeable TCTA/epoxy nanocomposites with superior EMI SE values, excellent mechanical properties, and thermal stabilities greatly broaden the applications of MXene-based polymer composites in the field of EMI shielding.

Thiolated poly(aspartic acid)-functionalized two-dimensional MoS2, chitosan and bismuth film as a sensor platform for cadmium ion detection

In this work, a sensitive electrochemical platform for determination of cadmium ions (Cd²⁺) is obtained using thiolated poly(aspartic acid) (TPA)-functionalized MoS₂ as a sensor platform by differential pulse anodic stripping voltammetry (DPASV). The performance of the TPA–MoS₂-modified sensor is systemically studied. It demonstrates that the TPA–MoS₂ nanocomposite modified sensor exhibits superior analytical performance for Cd²⁺ over a linear range from 0.5 μg L⁻¹ to 50 μg L⁻¹, with a detection limit of 0.17 μg L⁻¹. Chitosan is able to form a continuous coating film on the surface of the GC electrode. The good sensing performance of the TPA–MoS₂-modified sensor may be attributed to the following factors: the large surface area of MoS₂ (603 m² g⁻¹), and the abundant thiol groups of TPA. Thus, the TPA–MoS₂-modified sensor proves to be a reliable and environmentally friendly tool for the effective monitoring of Cd²⁺ existing in aquacultural environments.
