Abstract
Transition metal catalysed hydroalkoxylation of allenes has received much attention in recent years, and both the intra- and intermolecular versions have been reported. Gold(I) complexes are among the most active catalysts for these processes. This critical perspective article will cover the progress in this field, analysing the intermolecular metal-catalysed reaction of allenes using palladium, iridium, rhodium, ruthenium, gold and platinum, in the presence of alcohols, water or carboxylic acids, and the mechanistic implications of these processes depending on the metal used.

Abstract
The synthesis of architecturally complex polycyclic fused indolines is achieved in a chemo-, regio-, and stereodefined manner, via an enantioselective gold-catalyzed cascade hydroindolination/iminium trapping synthetic sequence. Highly functionalized tetracyclic fused furoindolines (2) and dihydropyranylindolines (4) are synthesized in moderate to good yields and enantiomeric excesses of up to 87%.

Abstract
Gold-catalyzed reactions, which have been widely explored over the past several years, are powerful tools in organic synthesis to access complex molecular frameworks, and some corresponding excellent reviews have been reported. However, little attention has been paid to summarize the reactions of strained small-ring-containing molecules catalyzed by gold. This critical review mainly puts its emphasis on the recent progress in the field of gold-catalyzed transformations of cyclopropyl-, cyclopropenyl-, epoxy- and aziridinyl-containing molecules. The rapid construction of interesting building blocks in organic synthesis from strained small rings catalyzed by gold has been summarized in this review (106 references).

Abstract
An efficient and versatile synthesis of chiral tetralins has been developed using both inter- and intramolecular Friedel-Crafts alkylation as a key step. The readily available hydronaphthalene substrates were prepared via a highly enantioselective metal-catalyzed ring opening of meso-oxabicyclic alkenes followed by hydrogenation. A wide variety of complex tetracyclic compounds have been isolated with high levels of regio-, diastereo-, and enantioselectivity.

Abstract
Herein, we report the synthesis of novel ring-expanded bryostatin analogues. By carefully modifying the substrate, a selective and high-yielding Ru-catalyzed tandem enyne coupling/Michael addition was employed to construct the northern fragment. Ring-closing metathesis was utilized to form the 31-membered ring macrocycle of the analogue. These ring-expanded bryostatin analogues possess anticancer activity against several cancer cell lines. Given the difficulty in forming the C16-C17 olefin at a late stage, we also describe our development of a new-generation strategy to access the C7-C27 fragment, containing both the ring B and C subunits.

Abstract
C-O, C-N and C-C bonds are the most widespread types of bonds in nature, and are the cornerstone of most organic compounds, ranging from pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals to advanced materials and polymers. Cationic gold acts as a soft and carbophilic Lewis acid and is considered one of the most powerful activators of C-C multiple bonds. Consequently, gold-catalysis plays an important role in the development of new strategies to form these bonds in more convenient ways. In this review, we highlight recent advances in the gold-catalyzed chemistry of addition of X-H (X = O, N, C) bonds to C-C multiple bonds, tandem reactions, and asymmetric additions. This review covers gold-catalyzed organic reactions published from 2008 to the present.

Abstract
A series of ynenyl allyl ethers were rearranged into polysubstituted furans in the presence of a gold(I) catalyst. It is proposed that the transformation involves a Claisen-type rearrangement that allows the efficient creation of quaternary centers under mild experimental conditions.
