Abstract
A Michael addition initiated cyclopropanation/[1,5]-hydrogen shift has been developed for the enantioselective synthesis of Rauhut-Currier products. The reaction of α-alkyl diazoesters and in situ generated o-quinone methides proceeds in the presence of chiral oxazaborolidinium ion, providing Z-stereocontrolled Rauhut-Currier products in high yields (up to 96%) with excellent Z/E selectivities (>20:1) and enantioselectivities (up to >99% ee). The synthetic utility was illustrated by conversion of the product to 3,4-dihydrocoumarins with two adjacent chiral stereocenters.

Abstract
We report a solvent-directed and regioselective carbon-carbon bond cleavage of aryl ketones by azido-1,3,5-triazines (ATs), which is typically completed within 10 min in DMSO at room temperature, without using transition metal catalysts. The cleavage is driven by the steric hindrance in the adducts of aryl ketones and ATs, which is substantiated by DFT calculation. Our recent results showed that ATs present high reactivity in solution and high stability in solid state. This "stability-reactivity paradox" has been explained in light of the molecular and crystal structures of ATs.

Abstract
The functionalization of C-H bonds has become a major thread of research in organic synthesis that can be assessed from different angles, for instance depending on the type of catalyst employed or the overall transformation that is carried out. This review compiles recent progress in synthetic methodology that merges the functionalization of C-H bonds along with the cleavage of C-C bonds, either in intra- or intermolecular fashion. The manuscript is organized in two main sections according to the type of substrate in which the cleavage of the C-C bond takes place, basically attending to the scission of strained or unstrained C-C bonds. Furthermore, the related research works have been grouped on the basis of the mechanistic aspects of the different transformations that are carried out, i.e.,: (a) classic transition metal catalysis where organometallic intermediates are involved; (b) processes occurring via radical intermediates generated through the use of radical initiators or photochemically; and (c) reactions that are catalyzed or mediated by suitable Lewis or Brønsted acid or bases, where molecular rearrangements take place. Thus, throughout the review a wide range of synthetic approaches show that the combination of C-H and C-C cleavage in single synthetic operations can serve as a platform to achieve complex molecular skeletons in a straightforward manner, among them interesting carbo- and heterocyclic scaffolds.

Abstract
A trityl-cation-initiated annulation of benzyl-substituted vinylcyclopropanes (VCPs) with hydrosilanes is reported. Two Si–C(sp3) bonds and one C(sp2)–C(sp3) bond are formed in this process where an intramolecular 6-endo-tet Friedel–Crafts alkylation of a silylium-ion-activated cyclopropane ring is the rate-determining key step. The reaction mechanism is proposed based on computations and is in agreement with experimental observations. The new reaction leads to an unprecedented silicon-containing 6/6/5-fused ring system. A phenethyl-substituted VCP derivative yields another unknown tricycle having 6/6/6 ring fusion by reacting in a related but different way involving a 6-exo-tet ring closure. Downstream to alkene hydrosilylation, the opening of the cyclopropane ring in benzyl-substituted VCPs is interlinked with an SEAr of the aryl group.![]()
