Guanine-Based DNA Biosensor Amplified with Pt/SWCNTs Nanocomposite as Analytical Tool for Nanomolar Determination of Daunorubicin as an Anticancer Drug: A Docking/Experimental Investigation

Doxorubicin Anticancer Drug Monitoring by ds-DNA-Based Electrochemical Biosensor in Clinical Samples

In this research, glassy carbon electrode (GCE) amplified with single-wall carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) and ds-DNA was fabricated and utilized for voltammetric sensing of doxorubicin with a low detection limit. In this technique, the reduction in guanine signal of ds-DNA in the presence of doxorubicin (DOX) was chosen as an analytical factor. The molecular docking study revealed that the doxorubicin drug interacted with DNA through intercalation mode, which was in agreement with obtained experimental results. The DOX detection performance of ds-DNA/SWCNTs/GCE was assessed at a concentration range of 1.0 nM-20.0 µM. The detection limit was found to be 0.6 nM that was comparable and even better (in many cases) than that of previous electrochemical reported sensors. In the final step, the ds-DNA/SWCNTs/GCE showed powerful ability for determination of the DOX in injection samples with acceptable recovery data.

Recent advancements of spinel ferrite based binary nanocomposite photocatalysts in wastewater treatment

A lot of studies on spinel ferrites (MFe₂O₄, M = divalent metal ion) and their binary nanocomposites as photocatalysts in the decontamination of wastewater have been performed, because MFe₂O₄ nanoparticles are relatively stable, biocompatible and low-cost efficient photocatalyst. The separation of MFe₂O₄ photocatalyst is easy owing to its excellent magnetic behavior. With this background, the recent developments on photocatalytic performances of MFe₂O₄ based binary nanocomposites were comprehensively reviewed. Especially, a focus on MFe₂O₄/metal oxides, MFe₂O₄/carbon based materials, MFe₂O₄/polymers, MFe₂O₄/metal nanoparticles and MFe₂O₄/other compounds for the photocatalytic degradation of dyes, emerging contaminants and inorganic pollutants has been thoroughly given. The advantages of MFe₂O₄ based nanocomposites as photocatalysts were also discussed. In addition, the possible pathway of active free radical generation by these photocatalysts under visible and ultraviolet irradiation has been explained. A comparison of photocatalytic activities of MFe₂O₄ based binary nanocomposites with recent reports has been carried out. This review concludes that MFe₂O₄ based binary nanocomposites have potential capacity in water purification technology. Nevertheless, their practical utilization in water treatment plants still needs to be further studied.

Effects of silver nanoparticles added into polyurea coating on sulfate-reducing bacteria activity and electrochemical properties; an environmental nano-biotechnology investigation

In the present work, Ag nanoparticles were added to polyurea coating in order to improve its antibacterial and electrochemical properties in sulfide-reducing bacteria-containing media. To this end, Ag nano-powder was mixed with two component polyuria, and then the antibacterial behavior of the nanocomposite coating was studied in sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB)-containing medium. The results revealed the inhibitory effects of nanocomposite coating on the formation of SRB biofilms on the samples. Moreover, the SRB population decreased in contact with the Ag nanoparticles-mixed coating over 7 days. Investigation of the growth and activity of the bacteria represented the effective antibacterial properties of Ag nanoparticles in the polyurea matrix. Furthermore, EIS (electrochemical impedance spectroscopy) measurements indicated that the corrosion properties of the nanocomposite coating improved considerably over 7 days. The coating resistance increased 2 times by adding Ag nanoparticles after 1 day and 3.3 times after 7 days. In accordance with the same results, the charge transfer resistance increased 1.5 times and 1.1 times by adding Ag nanoparticles after 1 day and 7 days, respectively. The improvement in the protective properties of the nanocomposite coating are reflected in the increase in both film and charge transfer resistance.

Evaluation of Peroxidase in Herbal Medicines Based on an Electrochemical Sensor

Peroxidases are species-specific. Differences in peroxidase can objectively reflect the genetics among species. The use of peroxidase to assist in species identification is relatively simple and effective. In this work, we proposed a graphene-modified electrode. This electrode can amplify the signal of electrocatalytic reduction of hydrogen peroxide. Since peroxidase can catalyze the reduction of hydrogen peroxide, this signal can be used as an indicator to demonstrate the content of peroxidase in different plant tissues. Twelve herbal medicines were selected for our study. The results show that this electrochemical-based detection technique was comparable to colorimetric method in terms of accuracy.

Hybrid nanostructures of Pd-WO3 grown on graphitic carbon nitride for trace level electrochemical detection of paraoxon-ethyl

Well-defined crystal structures of Pd-doped WO₃ nanorods were assembled on graphitic carbon sheets (Pd-WO₃/g-C₃N₄) for ultrasensitive detection of paraoxon-ethyl (PEL) using an electrochemical method. The electrochemical behavior of PEL on the Pd-WO₃/g-C₃N₄ hybrid composite was investigated using cyclic voltammetry (CV) and amperometric techniques. The Pd-WO₃ crystallite was seen to modify the kinetics of g-C₃N₄, which improved the reduction/redox peak currents of PEL at the Pd-WO₃/g-C₃N₄ composite compared to those of the g-C₃N₄ and WO₃/g-C₃N₄-modified electrode. Moreover, the π-π interaction and hydrogen bond between the PEL and Pd-WO₃/g-C₃N₄ composite improved the charge-transfer properties. The Pd-WO₃/g-C₃N₄ hybrid composite was therefore able to obtain an enhanced sensitivity (3.70 ± 0.05 μA μM^-1 cm^-2) and low detection limit (0.03 nM; S/N = 3) with a wide range of linear concentrations (0.01-60 and 80-900.0 ± 5 μM) at applied potential of - 0.63 V (vs. Ag/AgCl). The detection of PEL in agricultural water and soil samples was successfully demonstrated with satisfactory RSD of 2.5 to 3.1% and recovery results of 97 to 102%, respectively.

A stretchable glove sensor toward rapid monitoring of trifluralin: A new platform for the on-site recognition of herbicides based on wearable flexible sensor technology using lab-on-glove

In this study, a flexible glove-based electrochemical sensor as a wearable point-of-use screening tool has been fabricated for defense and food security applications. To design the wearable glove-based sensor, we drew conductive patterns on the fingers of a rubber glove via gold@silver-modified graphene quantum dots (Au@Ag core-shell/graphene quantum dots [GQDs]) nano-ink with optimal thickness. Then, this platform is combined with a portable electrochemical analyzer for on-site detection of trifluralin pesticide in the range of 10 nM to 1 mM with the low limit of quantification (LLOQ) of 10 nM. The high efficiency and distinction of the trifluralin at specified concentrations in real leaf and apple samples were performed by simply touching with the glove and in spikes solution by immersing of fingertips. With their high sensitivity, selectivity, rapid, and easy operation pesticide analysis, these glove-embedded sensors can also be engaged in on-site monitor of other chemical threats and can be expanded to water and environmental samples.

Electro-oxidation of formoterol fumarate on the surface of novel poly(thiazole yellow-G) layered multi-walled carbon nanotube paste electrode

The current study explicates the electro-oxidation behavior of formoterol fumarate (FLFT) in the presence of uric acid (UA) on the surface of poly thiazole yellow-G (TY-G) layered multi-walled carbon nanotube paste electrode (MWCNTPE). The modified (Poly(TY-G)LMWCNTPE) and unmodified (MWCNTPE) electrode materials were characterized through electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), and cyclic voltammetry (CV) approaches. The characterization data confirms the good conducting and electrocatalytic nature with more electrochemical active sites on the Poly(TY-G)LMWCNTPE than MWCNTPE towards the FLFT analysis in the presence of UA. Poly(TY-G)LMWCNTPE easily separates the two drugs (FLFT and UA) even though they both have nearer oxidation peak potential. The electro-catalytic activity of the developed electrode is fast and clear for FLFT electro-oxidation in 0.2 M phosphate buffer (PB) of pH 6.5. The Poly(TY-G)LMWCNTPE offered a well-resolved peak with the highest electro-oxidation peak current at the peak potential of 0.538 V than MWCNTPE. The potential scan rate and oxidation peak growth time studies show the electrode reaction towards FLFT electro-oxidation is continued through a diffusion-controlled step. The variation of concentration of FLFT in the range from 0.2 to 1.5 µM (absence of UA) and 3.0 to 8.0 μM (presence of UA) provides a good linear relationship with increased peak current and a lower limit of detection (LOD) values of 0.0128 µM and 0.0129 µM, respectively. The prepared electrode gives a fine recovery for the detection of FLFT in the medicinal sample with acceptable repeatability, stability, and reproducibility.

Au@SnO2-vertical graphene-based microneedle sensor for in-situ determination of abscisic acid in plants

For developing electrochemical plant sensors, in-situ detection of hormone levels in living plants is worth attempting. A microneedle array sensor based on Au@SnO₂-vertical graphene (VG)/Ta microelectrodes was constructed for analyzing abscisic acid (ABA) in plants. Graphene was vertically grown on Ta wires with a diameter of 0.6 mm by direct current arc plasma jet chemical vapor deposition with SnO₂ as the Au catalyst carrier. These VG nanosheets were embedded with core-shell Au@SnO₂ nanoparticles, and the formation mechanism of the sensing layer was investigated. Three Au@SnO₂-VG microelectrodes, one Ti wire, and one Pt wire were packed into a microneedle array sensor with a three-electrode system. ABA was then quantitatively detected by direct electrocatalytic oxidation, which involves the synergistic catalytic effects of the abundant catalytic active sites of the Au@SnO₂ nanoparticles and the excellent conductivity of the VG nanosheets. The microneedle array sensor responds to ABA in the pH range 4-7, the response concentration range was 0.012 (or 0.024)-495.2 μM, and the detection limit varied between 0.002 and 0.005 μM. The small size, wide pH range, low detection limit, and wide linear concentration range allow the microneedle array sensor to be inserted into plants for in-situ detection of ABA.

Tailoring spatial structure of electroactive biofilm for enhanced activity and direct electron transfer on iron phthalocyanine modified anode in microbial fuel cells

Electroactive biofilm (EAB) has been considered as the core determining electricity generation in microbial fuel cells (MFCs), and its spatial structure regulation for enhanced activity and selectivity is of great concern. In this study, iron phthalocyanine (FePc) was introduced into a carbon cloth (CC) electrode, aiming at improving the affinity between the anode and outer membrane c-type cytochromes (OM c-Cyts) and achieving a highly active EAB. The FePc modified CC anode (FePc-CC) effectively improved the viability of EAB and enriched the Geobacter species up to 44.83% (FePc-CC) from 6.97% (CC). The FePc-CC anode achieved a much higher power density of 2419 mW m^-2 than the CC (560 mW m^-2) and a remarkable higher biomass loading of 2477.2 ± 84.5 μg cm^-2 than the CC (749.3 ± 31.3 μg cm^-2). As the charge transfer resistance was decreased by 58.6 times from 395.2 Ω (CC) to 6.74 Ω (FePc-CC), the interfacial reaction rate was accelerated and the direct electron transfer via OM c-Cyts was promoted. This work provides an effective method to improve the EAB activity by regulating its spatial structure, and opens the door toward the development of highly active EAB using metal phthalocyanines in MFCs.

A Methylene Blue Assisted Electrochemical Sensor for Determination of Drug Resistance of Escherichia coli

Due to the abuse of antibiotics in clinical, animal husbandry, and aquaculture, drug-resistant pathogens are produced, which poses a great threat to human and the public health. At present, a rapid and effective drug sensitivity test method is urgently needed to effectively control the spread of drug-resistant bacteria. Using methylene blue as a redox probe, the electrochemical signals of methylene blue in drug-resistant Escherichia coli strains were analyzed by a CV method. Graphene ink has been used for enhancing the electrochemical signal. Compared with the results of the traditional drug sensitivity test, we proposed a rapid electrochemical drug sensitivity test method which can effectively identify the drug sensitivity of Escherichia coli. The sensitivity of four E. coli isolates to ciprofloxacin, gentamicin, and ampicillin was tested by an electrochemical drug sensitivity test. The respiratory activity value %RA was used as an indicator of bacterial resistance by electrochemical method.

Graphene-Assisted Sensor for Rapid Detection of Antibiotic Resistance in Escherichia coli

In recent years, antibiotic-resistant bacteria caused by antibiotic abuse in the medical industry have become a new environmental pollutant that endangers public health. Therefore, it is necessary to establish a detection method for evaluating drug-resistant bacteria. In this work, we used Escherichia coli as a target model and proposed a method to evaluate its drug resistance for three antibiotics. Graphene dispersion was used to co-mix with E. coli cells for the purpose of increasing the current signal. This electrochemical-based sensor allows the evaluation of the activity of E. coli on the electrode surface. When antibiotics were present, the electrocatalytic reduction signal was diminished because of the reduced activity of E. coli. Based on the difference in the electrochemical reduction signal, we can evaluate the antibiotic resistance of different E. coli strains.

Electrochemical determination of anticancer drug Bendamustine and its interaction with double strand DNA in the absence and presence of quercetin

Studies based on drug-DNA interactions, especially anticancer drug-DNA interactions, are of great importance for the method development. It is thought that single-use electrodes, which give fast, cheap and reproducible results, will make a great contribution to the chip technology for the development of individual patient analysis in the future. It is known that antioxidants reduce carcinogenesis caused by oxidative stress with their radical scavenging effects. Literature shows that quercetin (QRCT) exhibits anticancer activity by preventing oxidative cell damage as an effective radical scavenger. In this study, Bendamustine (BND), an anticancer drug, which is used in different blood cancer types, was electrochemically determined and the toxicity degree was calculated by examining the interaction of the drug with DNA in the absence and presence of QRCT, which is the first examination in the literature. Limit of detection and quantification for BND was calculated as 6.0 and 20.0 μg/mL respectively by using the equation I = 0.029 × C_BND+ 1.197, (R² = 0.997). We found that QRCT prevents the interaction between BND and DNA because of its strong interaction with DNA.

A Novel Graphene-Based Nanomaterial Modified Electrochemical Sensor for the Detection of Cardiac Troponin I

Acute myocardial infarction has a high clinical mortality rate. The initial exclusion or diagnosis is important for the timely treatment of patients with acute myocardial infarction. As a marker, cardiac troponin I (cTnI) has a high specificity, high sensitivity to myocardial injury and a long diagnostic window. Therefore, its diagnostic value is better than previous markers of myocardial injury. In this work, we propose a novel aptamer electrochemical sensor. This sensor consists of silver nanoparticles/MoS₂/reduced graphene oxide. The combination of these three materials can provide a synergistic effect for the stable immobilization of aptamer. Our proposed aptamer electrochemical sensor can detect cTnl with high sensitivity. After optimizing the parameters, the sensor can provide linear detection of cTnl in the range of 0.3 pg/ml to 0.2 ng/ml. In addition, the sensor is resistant to multiple interferents including urea, glucose, myoglobin, dopamine and hemoglobin.

Ultrasensitive Nanopore Sensing of Mucin 1 and Circulating Tumor Cells in Whole Blood of Breast Cancer Patients by Analyte-Triggered Triplex-DNA Release

The characterization of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) by liquid biopsy has a great potential for precision medicine in oncology. Here, a universal and tandem logic-based strategy is developed by combining multiple nanomaterials and nanopore sensing for the determination of mucin 1 protein (MUC1) and breast cancer CTCs in real samples. The strategy consists of analyte-triggered signal conversion, cascaded amplification via nanomaterials including copper sulfide nanoparticles (CuS NPs), silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs), and biomaterials including DNA hydrogel and DNAzyme, and single-molecule-level detection by nanopore sensing. The amplification of the non-DNA nanomaterial gives this method considerable stability, significantly lowers the limit of detection (LOD), and enhances the anti-interference performance for complicated samples. As a result, the ultrasensitive detection of MUC1 could be achieved in the range of 0.0005-0.5 pg/mL, with an LOD of 0.1 fg/mL. Moreover, we further tested MUC1 as a biomarker for the clinical diagnosis of breast cancer CTCs under double-blind conditions on the basis of this strategy, and MCF-7 cells could be accurately detected in the range from 5 to 2000 cells/mL, with an LOD of 2 cells/mL within 6 h. The detection results of the 19 clinical samples were highly consistent with those of the clinical pathological sections, nuclear magnetic resonance imaging, and color ultrasound. These results demonstrate the validity and reliability of our method and further proved the feasibility of MUC1 as a clinical diagnostic biomarker for CTCs.

Detection of Imatinib Based on Electrochemical Sensor Constructed Using Biosynthesized Graphene-Silver Nanocomposite

The establishment of a monitoring technique for imatinib is necessary in clinical and environmental toxicology. Leaf extracts of Lycoris longituba were used as reducing agent for the one-step synthesis of reduced graphene oxide-Ag nanocomposites. This nanocomposite was characterized by TEM, FTIR, XRD, and other instruments. Then, the graphene/Ag nanocomposite was used as a modifier to be cemented on the surface of the glassy carbon electrode. This electrode exhibited excellent electrochemical sensing performance. Under the optimal conditions, the proposed electrode could detect imatinib at 10 nM−0.28 mM with a low limit of detection. This electrochemical sensor also has excellent anti-interference performance and reproducibility.

Preparation of Graphene Oxide-Embedded Hydrogel as a Novel Sensor Platform for Antioxidant Activity Evaluation of Scutellaria baicalensis

Antioxidation is very important in medicine and food. The current evaluation technologies often have many shortcomings. In this work, an improved electrochemical sensing platform for the evaluation of antioxidant activity has been proposed. A hydrogel was prepared based on graphene oxide, zinc ions, and chitosan. Zinc ions play the role of crosslinking agents in hydrogels. The structure of chitosan can be destroyed by injecting hydrogen peroxide into the hydrogel, and the free zinc ions can diffuse to the surface of the electrode to participate in the electrochemical reaction. This electrochemical sensor can evaluate the antioxidant activity by comparing the current difference of zinc reduction before and after adding the antioxidant. With the help of graphene oxide, this hydrogel can greatly enhance the sensing effect. We conducted tests on 10 real samples. This proposed electrochemical platform has been successfully applied for evaluating the antioxidant activity of Scutellaria baicalensis, and the results were compared to those obtained from the 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl-based traditional analysis technique.

The war using microbes: A sustainable approach for wastewater management

Anthropogenic activities and population growth have resulted in a reduced availability of drinking water. To ensure consistency in the existence of drinking water, it is inevitable to establish wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs). 70% of India's rural population was found to be without WWTP, waste disposal, and good sanitation. Wastewater has emerged from kitchens, washrooms, etc., with industry activities. This scenario caused severe damage to water resources, leading to degradation of water quality and pathogenic insects. Thus, it is a need of an hour to prompt for better WWTPs for both rural and urban areas. Many parts of the world have started to face severe water shortages in recent years, and wastewater reuse methods need to be updated. Clean water supply is not enough to satisfy the needs of the planet as a whole, and the majority of freshwater in the polar regions takes the form of ice and snow. The increasing population requires clean water for drinks, hygiene, irrigation, and various other applications. Lack of water and contamination of water result from human activities. 90% of wastewater is released to water systems without treatment in developing countries. Studies show that about 730 megatons of waste are annually discharged into water from sewages and other effluents. The sustenance of water resources, applying wastewater treatment technologies, and calling down the percentage of potable water has to be strictly guided by mankind. This review compares the treatment of domestic sewage to its working conditions, energy efficiency, etc. In this review, several treatment methods with different mechanisms involved in waste treatment, industrial effluents, recovery/recycling were discussed. The feasibility of bioaugmentation should eventually be tested through data from field implementation as an important technological challenge, and this analysis identifies many promising areas to be explored in the future.

A New Electrochemical Platform for Dasatinib Anticancer Drug Sensing Using Fe3O4-SWCNTs/Ionic Liquid Paste Sensor

A new electrochemical platform was suggested for the sensing of the dasatinib (DA) anticancer drug based on paste electrode modification (PE) amplified with Fe₃O₄-SWCNTs nanocomposite and 1-hexyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate (mim-BF₄⁻). The new platform showed a linear dynamic range from 0.001–220 µM with a detection limit of 0.7 nM to determine DA at optimal condition. Electrochemical investigation showed that the redox reaction of DA is relative to changing the pH of solution. Moreover, Fe₃O₄-SWCNTs/mim-BF₄⁻/PE has improved the oxidation current of DA about 5.58 times which reduced its oxidation potential by about 120 mV at optimal condition. In the final step, Fe₃O₄-SWCNTs/mim-BF₄⁻/PE was used as an analytical platform to determine the DA in tablets and a dextrose saline spike sample, and the results showed recovery data 99.58–103.6% which confirm the powerful ability of the sensor as an analytical tool to determine the DA in real samples.

Sensitive and selective electrochemical detection of bisphenol A based on SBA-15 like Cu-PMO modified glassy carbon electrode

This work reports the electrochemical detection of bisphenol A (BPA) using a novel and sensitive electrochemical sensor based on the Cu functionalized SBA-15 like periodic mesoporous organosilica-ionic liquid composite modified glassy carbon electrode (Cu@TU-PMO/IL/GCE). The structural morphology of Cu@TU-PMO is characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET). The catalytic activity of the modified electrode toward oxidation of BPA was interrogated with cyclic voltammetry (CV) and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) in phosphate buffer solution (pH 7.0) using the fabricated sensor. The electrochemical detection of the analyte was carried out at a neutral pH and the scan rate studies revealed that the sensor was stable. Under the optimal conditions, a linear range from 5.0 nM to 2.0 µM and 4.0 to 500 µM for detecting BPA was observed with a detection limit of 1.5 nM (S/N = 3). The sensor was applied to detect BPA in tap and seawater samples, and the accuracy of the results was validated by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The proposed method provides a powerful tool for the rapid and sensitive detection of BPA in environmental samples.

A sensitive and fast approach for voltammetric analysis of bisphenol a as a toxic compound in food products using a Pt-SWCNTs/ionic liquid modified sensor

A sensitive and fast approach has been introduced for the voltammetric sensing of bisphenol A based on modification of a paste electrode with Pt-SWCNTs and 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium n-butylsulfate as a highly conductive binder. The new sensor was used to determine the concentration of bisphenol A in food products in I-V mode. The Pt-SWCNTs nanocomposite was synthesized through the polyol method and its morphology was evaluated by field emission scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy techniques. The determining factors influencing the sensing performance, i.e., pH and mediators used in the modification process were optimized in the first step and the results showed that at a pH of 7.0, a modified paste containing 9% (w:w) nanocomposite and 20% (v:v) 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium n-butylsulfate formed catalytic properties enhancing the oxidation signal of bisphenol A by 5.9 folds. Current density investigation clearly confirmed the conductivity of Pt-SWCNTs and 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium n-butylsulfate in the paste matrix. In addition, fabricated sensor showed considerable sensing behavior for bisphenol A in the concentration range of 0.5 nM-180 μM with a detection limit of 0.2 nM. In the final step, using standard addition technique, the ability of fabricated sensor for sensing bisphenol A in food products was evaluated, and the results confirmed improved performance of the modified electrodes.

Label-free highly sensitive detection of DNA approximate length and concentration by impedimetric CRISPR-dCas9 based biosensor technology

In this study, we designed a CRISPR-dCas9-based biosensor with potential clinical use in glioblastoma subtype discrimination through detection of isocitrate dehydrogenase R132H (IDH) mutation status. The electrode was modified to detect mutant DNA cysteamine (Cys), PAMAM, dCas9 and sgRNA for R132H mutations, respectively. The biosensor system we proposed was able not only to detect mutant DNA, but also to measure the approximate length of DNA. Therefore, it can be considered that the biosensor technology that we developed is novel in the field of DNA biosensors. Another superior capability of the biosensor system is that it can simultaneously measure DNA concentration by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and DNA length by capacitive detection, which lowers the concentration-based false-positive signals. The calibration range was obtained between 100 fM and 1000 fM, LOD and LOQ were also calculated as 33.96 fM and 102.91 fM respectively. Moreover, thanks to the sensitivity of the capacitive detection, the biosensor was able to discriminate the same EIS signals of the 200 bp and 250 fM concentration data and 1000 bp and 50 fM concentration data. In conclusion, the biosensor was capable of detect target DNA and DNA length, simultaneously in minutes.

A novel non-enzymatic glucose sensor based on NiFe(NPs)-polyaniline hybrid materials

This article was focused on the elaboration of NiFe-Polyaniline glucose sensors via electrochemical technique. Firstly, the PANi (polyaniline) fibers were synthesized by oxidation of the monomer aniline on FTO (fluorine tin oxide) substrate. Secondly, the Nickel-Iron nanoparticles (NiFe (NPs)) were obtained by the Chronoamperometry method on the Polyaniline surface. The NiFe-PANi hybrid electrode was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), force atomic microscopy (AFM), Fourier-transformed infrared (FTIR), and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The electrochemical glucose sensing performance of the NiFe alloy nanoparticle was studied by cyclic voltammetry and amperometry. The fabricated glucose sensor Ni-Fe hybrid material exhibited many remarkable sensing performances, such as low-response time (4 s), sensitivity (1050 μA mM^-1 cm^-2), broad linear range (from 10 μM -1 mM), and low limit of detection (LOD) (0.5 μM, S/N = 3). The selectivity, reliability, and stability of the NiFe hybrid material for glucose oxidation were also investigated. All the results demonstrated that the NiFe-PANi/FTO hybrid electrode is very promising for application in electrochemical glucose sensing.

Dendritic fibrous nanosilica-supported dendritic IL/Ru(ii) as photocatalysts for the dicarbofunctionalization of styrenes with carbon dioxide and amines

The effectual utilization of heterogeneous catalysts from nano sources through chemical moderation for the α-aminomethylcarboxylation of alkenes with carbon dioxide and amines is an attractive area to study. Dendritic fibrous nanosilica (DFNS) is a cost-effective, resistant, plenteous, and reproducible source with dandelion-like fibrous anatomy. The present paper is a report on an easy method to provide a family of new DFNS-supported dendritic imidazolium IL/Ru(ii) heterogeneous catalysts DFNS/IL/Ru (1-3) with high ionic density from DFNS. A positive dendritic effect was perceived in the chemical stabilization performance of CO2. DFNS/IL/Ru(ii) was appropriately identified by UV-vis spectroscopy, XPS, SEM, TEM, FT-IR spectroscopy, and TGA. It was discovered that DFNS/IL/Ru(ii) has high catalytic activity for the synthesis of quinoline-2-one through the annulation of ortho-heteroaryl anilines and CO2. DFNS/IL/Ru (3) could be reutilized ten continuous times with no notable reduction in the catalytic activity. Notably, the coveted quinoline-2-one was prepared on a multi-gram scale by deploying DFNS/IL/Ru (3) as a green heterogeneous catalyst. Owing to the attendance of the zwitterionic liquid functional groups on the exterior layer of the bio-based DFNS/IL/Ru (3) catalyst, DFNS/IL/Ru (3) expressed the highest catalytic activity. This approach provides highly functional γ-amino acids in proper yields with great selective power. This paper announces the first nanocatalyst for this transformation, comprising the DFNS-supported Ru N-heterocyclic carbine complex.

Enhancing osteoregenerative potential of biphasic calcium phosphates by using bioinspired ZIF8 coating

Biphasic calcium phosphate ceramics (BCPs) have been extensively used as a bone graft in dental clinics to reconstruct lost bone in the jaw and peri-implant hard tissue due to their good bone conduction and similar chemical structure to the teeth and bone. However, BCPs are not inherently osteoinductive and need additional modification and treatment to enhance their osteoinductivity. The present study aims to develop an innovative strategy to improve the osteoinductivity of BCPs using unique features of zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF8). In this method, commercial BCPs (Osteon II) were pre-coated with a zeolitic imidazolate framework-8/polydopamine/polyethyleneimine (ZIF8/PDA/PEI) layer to form a uniform and compact thin film of ZIF8 on the surface of BCPs. The surface morphology and chemical structure of ZIF8 modified Osteon II (ZIF8-Osteon) were confirmed using various analytical techniques such as XRD, FTIR, SEM, and EDX. We evaluated the effect of ZIF8 coating on cell attachment, growth, and osteogenic differentiation of human adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (hADSCs). The results revealed that altering the surface chemistry and topography of Osteon II using ZIF8 can effectively promote cell attachment, proliferation, and bone regeneration in both in vitro and in vivo conditions. In conclusion, the method applied in this study is simple, low-cost, and time-efficient and can be used as a versatile approach for improving osteoinductivity and osteoconductivity of other types of alloplastic bone grafts.

A series of polyoxometalate-based hybrid complexes constructed by a tripodal ligand containing mixed N/O donors
