Abstract
The first example of a chiral osmium catalyst is reported in which the overall chirality originates exclusively from a stereogenic metal center (metal-centered chirality) with all coordinating ligands being achiral. The non-C2-symmetric chiral-at-metal complex contains two cyclometalated 7-methyl-1,7-phenanthrolinium heterocycles which can be described as two chelating pyridylidene remote N-heterocyclic carbene (rNHC) ligands. The octahedral coordination sphere is completed with one CO and one acetonitrile ligand. A monodentate chiral oxazoline ligand is used as a chiral auxiliary ligand to obtain enantiomerically pure chiral-at-osmium complexes (>99 : 1 e.r.). Finally, it is demonstrated that the developed chiral-at-osmium complex is suitable for ring-closing enantioselective C(sp3)-H aminations, including the first example of catalytic enantioselective cyclizations of azidoformates to chiral 2-oxazolidinones.

Abstract
Dialkylation of the 1,3-bis(1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)benzene with ethyl bromide results in the formation of [L-H2]Br2 which, upon salt metathesis with NH4PF6, readily yields the bis(triazolium) salt [L-H2](PF6)2 with non-coordinating counterions. [L-H2](PF6)2 and Ag2O react in a 1 : 1 ratio to yield a binuclear AgI-tetracarbene complex of the composition [(L)2Ag2](PF6)2 which undergoes a facile transmetalation reaction with [Cu(SMe2)Br] to deliver the corresponding CuI-NHC complex [(L)2Cu2](PF6)2. In contrast, the [L-H2]Br2 reacts with [Ir(Cp*)Cl2]2 to generate a doubly C-H activated IrIII-NHC complex 5. Similarly, the triazolinylidene donor supported diorthometalated RuII-complex 6 is also obtained. Complexes 5 and 6 represent the first examples of a stable diorthometalated binuclear IrIII/RuII-complex supported by 1,2,4-triazolin-5-ylidene donors. The synthesized IrIII-NHC complex 5 is found to be more effective than its RuII-analogue (6) for the reduction of a range of alkenes/alkynes via the transfer hydrogenation strategy. Conversely, RuII-complex 6 is identified as an efficient catalyst (0.01 mol% loading) for the β-alkylation of a wide range of secondary alcohols using primary alcohols as alkylating partners via a borrowing hydrogen strategy.

Abstract
A new class of chiral ruthenium catalysts is introduced in which ruthenium is cyclometalated by two 7-methyl-1,7-phenanthrolinium heterocycles, resulting in chelating pyridylidene remote N-heterocyclic carbene ligands (rNHCs). The overall chirality results from a stereogenic metal center featuring either a Λ or Δ absolute configuration. This work features the importance of the relative metal-centered stereochemistry. Only the non-C2-symmetric chiral-at-ruthenium complexes display unprecedented catalytic activity for the intramolecular C(sp3)-H amidation of 1,4,2-dioxazol-5-ones to provide chiral γ-lactams with up to 99:1 er and catalyst loadings down to 0.005 mol % (up to 11 200 TON), while the C2-symmetric diastereomer favors an undesired Curtius-type rearrangement. DFT calculations elucidate the origins of the superior C-H amidation reactivity displayed by the non-C2-symmetric catalysts compared to related C2-symmetric counterparts.

Abstract
A gold(III) complex with the hitherto most electron poor mesoionic carbene ligand is presented. Aqua regia was the oxidizing agent of choice for the synthesis of this unusual organometallic compound. The AuIII complex is redox-rich, and also acts as a catalyst for oxazole formation, delivering selectively a completely different isomer compared to its AuI congener.

Abstract
A series of unique C2P3-ring compounds [(ADCAr)P3] (4) are readily accessible in an almost quantitative yield by the direct functionalization of white phosphorus (P4) with appropriate anionic dicarbenes [Li(ADCAr)].
A series of unique C2P3-ring compounds [(ADCAr)P3] (ADCAr = ArC{(DippN)C}2; Dipp = 2,6-iPr2C6H3; Ar = Ph 4a, 3-MeC6H44b, 4-MeC6H44c, and 4-Me2NC6H44d) are readily accessible in an almost quantitative yield by the direct functionalization of white phosphorus (P4) with appropriate anionic dicarbenes [Li(ADCAr)]. The formation of 1,2,3-triphosphol-2-ides (4a–4d) suggests unprecedented [3 + 1] fragmentation of P4 into P3+ and P–. The P3+ cation is trapped by the (ADCAr)– to give 4, while the putative P– anion reacts with additional P4 to yield the Li3P7 species, a useful reagent in the synthesis of organophosphorus compounds. Remarkably, the P4 fragmentation is also viable with the related mesoionic carbenes (iMICsAr) (iMICAr = ArC{(DippN)2CCH}, i stands for imidazole-based) giving rise to 4. DFT calculations reveal that both the C3N2 and C2P3-rings of 4 are 6π-electron aromatic systems. The natural bonding orbital (NBO) analyses indicate that compounds 4 are mesoionic species featuring a negatively polarized C2P3-ring. The HOMO–3 of 4 is mainly the lone-pair at the central phosphorus atom that undergoes σ-bond formation with a variety of metal-electrophiles to yield complexes [{(ADCAr)P3}M(CO)n] (M = Fe, n = 4, Ar = Ph 5a or 4-Me-C6H45b; M = Mo, n = 5, Ar = Ph 6; M = W, n = 5, Ar = 4-Me2NC6H47).

Abstract
The study of palladium(IV) species has great implications for PdII /PdIV -mediated catalysis. However, most of the PdIV complexes rapidly decompose under ambient conditions, which makes the isolation, characterization and further reactivity study very challenging. The reported ancillary ligand platforms to stabilize PdIV species are dominated by chelating N-donors such as bipyridines. In this work, we present two PdIV complexes with scarcely used C-donors as the supporting platform. The anionic aryl donor and MIC (MIC=mesoionic carbene) are combined in a [CC'C]-type pincer framework to access a series of ambient-stable PdIV tris(halido) complexes. Their synthesis, solid-state structures, stability, and reactivity are presented. To the best of our knowledge, the work presented herein reports the first isolated PdIV -MIC as well as the first PdIV carbene-based aryl pincer.

Abstract
In this short review, we describe different pathways for synthesizing 1,2,3-triazolium macrocycles and focus on their application in different areas of supramolecular chemistry. The synthesis is mostly relying on the well-known "click reaction" (CuAAC) leading to 1,4-disubstituted 1,2,3-triazoles that then can be quaternized. Applications of triazolium macrocycles thus prepared include receptors for molecular recognition of anionic species, pH sensors, mechanically interlocked molecules, molecular machines, and molecular reactors.

Abstract
An evidence for the formation of a rare meta-metalated inherently chiral calix[4]arene is described. Our strategy involved using a mesoionic carbene to direct C–H activation, but proved to form an unexpectedly unstable intermediate that was identified through high-resolution mass spectrometry. On route to our target, a new optimized method to mononitrocalix[4]arenes was developed, including optimized and high yielding transformations to azide and 1,2,3-triazole derivatives which may have application in other areas of research.

Abstract
The popularity of NHCs in transition metal catalysis has prompted the development of chiral versions as electron-rich neutral stereodirecting ancillary ligands for enantioselective transformations. Herein we demonstrate that cyclic (alkyl)(amino)carbene (CAAC) ligands can also engage in asymmetric transformations, thereby expanding the toolbox of available chiral carbenes.

Abstract
Imidazolium-benzimidazolates are readily available conjugated mesomeric betaines, whose carbenic tautomers can form C,Nimine-metal chelates containing amino-functionalised normal or abnormal NHC ligands, depending on the degree of steric congestion. Deprotonation of the amino moiety gives rise to imine-functionalised C,Namido-metal chelates, whose Nimine atom can be easily utilised for the construction of heteronuclear complexes.

Abstract
1,2,3-Triazole-derived mesoionic carbenes (MICs) having a chiral sulfur functional group at the C5 position are easily available through a CuAAC between chiral alkynyl sulfoxides and different azides. The MICs form complexes with several metals (Au, Ag, Ir, Rh, and Ru) that are enantiomerically pure. Moreover, enantiomerically pure MIC sulfinilimines are obtained from the corresponding sulfoxide retaining the chirality. Through this article, the participation of sulfoxide moieties in different catalytic and chirality transfer processes, as well as in discovering mechanistically new processes will be shown. The role of the sulfur chiral moiety in catalytic cycloisomerization and cycloisomerization-dimerization processes using Au-MIC catalysts is dual. The sulfur functional group either stabilizes intermediates in the catalytic cycle, allowing for the reaction to occur or significantly increases the selectivity of the cyclization processes. 1,2,3-Triazole MICs having chiral sulfoxides at C5 are extremely efficient in preparing chiral at the metal complexes by C-H insertion processes. The chiral at the metal half-sandwich complexes, having the enantiopure sulfur chiral group unaltered, experiences different reactions with complete retention of the configuration. Finally, mechanistically new processes, like the desulfinilation of 1,2,3-triazolium salts in Ag-MIC complexes have been uncovered. These still-nascent classes of compounds will offer opportunities for the discovery of novel catalytic applications and to study new mechanistically sound processes.

Abstract
The synthesis of heterobimetallic complexes remains a synthetic challenge in the field of organometallic chemistry. A possible approach in this regard might be the use of a bidentate heteroditopic bis(carbene) ligand that combines an imidazol-2-ylidene (nNHC) with a 1,2,3-triazol-5-ylidene (tzNHC) connected by an organic spacer. The optimized strategy to heterobimetallic complexes with this type of ligand involves a 3-step procedure: (i) Coordination of the nNHC, functionalized with a 1,2,3-triazole ring, to a metal center; (ii) formation of the triazolium ring by alkylation of the triazole N-3; (iii) deprotonation of the tzNHC precursor and coordination of the second metal center. Following this procedure, a novel Au(I)-Ag(I) dinuclear complex was isolated and its properties were compared to the analogous homobimetallic Ag(I)-Ag(I) and Au(I)-Au(I) complexes. The study was completed by the determination of the molecular structures of some synthetic intermediates.

Abstract
The development of pyridylidene-Cu-complexes and their application in Cu/Pd-catalyzed heteroarylboration of alkenylheteroarenes is reported. The significance of 1,1'-heteroarylalkanes as building blocks for drug discovery, as well as the straightforward and modular sequence to prepare the pyridylidene-Cu-complexes, makes this catalyst and it applications attractive for chemical synthesis. Furthermore, chiral variants of the pyridylidene-Cu-complexes have been prepared and utilized in the enantioselective arylboration of E-alkenes, further demonstrating the value and potential of this class of catalysts.

Abstract
We have developed a versatile, high-yield synthesis of diarylchloroniums/λ3-chloranes through the reaction of various chloroarenes with readily prepared mesityldiazonium tetrakis(pentafluorophenyl)borate under mild conditions. The scope of the reaction is broad, including ArCl, ArBr, and ArI. The diarylchloroniums/λ3-chloranes prepared here show unique reactivity in various respects, enabling intermolecular electrophilic arylation reaction of weak nucleophiles, and chlorane-halogane exchange reaction.

Abstract
The unique Rh-Al bond in recently synthesized Rh(PAlP) 1 {PAlP = pincer-type diphosphino-aluminyl ligand Al[NCH2(P iPr2)]2(C6H4)2NMe} was investigated using the DFT method. Complex 1 has four doubly occupied nonbonding d orbitals on the Rh atom and one Rh d orbital largely participating in the Rh-Al bond which exhibits considerably large bonding overlap between Rh and Al atoms like in a covalent bond. Interestingly, Rhδ--Alδ+ polarization is observed in the bonding MO of 1, which is reverse to Rhδ+-Eδ- (E = coordinating atom) polarization found in a usual coordinate bond. This unusual polarization arises from the presence of the Al valence orbital at significantly higher energy than the Rh valence orbital energy. Characteristic features of 1 are further unveiled by comparing 1 with similar Rh complexes RhL(PMe3)2 (2 for L = AlMe2, 3 for L = Al(NMe2)2, 4 for L = BMe2, 5 for L = SiMe3, 6 for L = SiH3, 7 for L = CH3, 8 for L = OMe, and 9 for L = Cl). As expected, 7, 8, and 9 exhibit usual Rhδ+-Eδ- polarization (E = coordinating atom) in the Rh-E bonding MO. On the other hand, the reverse Rhδ--Eδ+ polarization is observed in the Rh-E bonding MOs of 2-5 like in 1, while the Rh-Si bond is polarized little in 6. These results are clearly understood in terms of the valence orbital energy of the ligand. Because the LUMO of 1 mainly consists of the Rh 4dσ, 5s, and 5p orbitals and the Al 3s and 3p orbitals, both Rh and Al atoms play the role of coordinating site for a substrate bearing a lone pair orbital. For instance, NH3 and pyridine coordinate to both Al and Rh atoms with considerably large binding energy. PAlP exhibits significantly strong trans influence, which is as strong as that of SiMe3 but moderately weaker than that of BMe2. The trans influence of these ligands is mainly determined by the valence orbital energy of the ligand and the covalent bond radius of the coordinating E atom.

Abstract
The synthesis, structure, and photophysical properties of luminescent PtIV complexes that combine cyclometalated 1,2,3-triazolylidene and bi- or terdentate 2,6-diarylpyridine ligands are reported. The targeted complexes represent the first examples of PtIV species with a cyclometalated mesoionic aryl-NHC ligand. They exhibit moderate or weak emissions in fluid solution at 298 K arising from 3 LC states, which become very intense in poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) matrices at 298 K. DFT and TD-DFT calculations confirm that the chromophoric ligand is the cyclometalated 2,6-diarylpyridine and show that the aryl-NHC ligand exerts a beneficial effect on the emission efficiencies of these derivatives by increasing the energy of deactivating LMCT excited states with respect to comparable PtIV complexes with cyclometalated 2-arylpyridine ligands.

Abstract
We report the preparation and full characterization of a series of hydroxyl functionalized 1,2,3-triazolylidene-based PEPPSI complexes 2a-c and their catalytic application in the Suzuki cross coupling reaction of aryl chlorides/amides with boronic acids. Under basic reaction conditions, complexes 2a-c show a notable increase in their catalytic efficiency compared with two ether-wingtip functionalized PEPPSI analogues (3 and 4) and a commercially available NHC-Pd complex (5). The catalytic results suggest that deprotonation of the hydroxyl group in complexes 2a-c plays an important role in the overall process. Deprotonation of the alcohol moiety of complexes 2a-b with sodium tert-butoxide allows for the isolation of metallacycles 6a-b, which are proposed as the active species of cross coupling reactions.
